Sophie Lee PROGRESS UPDATE PLAN FOR NEXT MONTH / WEEK(Including Possible
Contingency Plans If Problems Anticipated)
September 2012
(Detailed Monthly Summary)
Pre-Production- This week we have been introduced to the briefs
that we can choose from to complete for our Advanced Portfolio.
We can choose from either creating a music video, a short film or a
newspaper. In my group we have choose to create a music video
and for the ancillary tasks we have to create a digipak for the
album release and a magazine advert. This month I have also set
up my blog using Google BlogSpot to present my work. I have been
working on my Ancillary 1 research in which I have to research
existing CD digipak’s. To do this I have looked at three different
types of digipak from three different artists. I analysed the CD
cover, back cover and the CD label to see how they have targeted
their audience and made their product appealing to the audience. I
intent to use what I have learned from this research when creating
my own digipak for Ancillary one. I have started to my construction
for my Ancillary one using Photoshop and images that I have taken
myself.
Over the next month I plan to finish off constructing my
Ancillary one task as I still need to complete the back
cover of my Digipak. I also plan on doing my research for
Ancillary 2 which will consist of looking at three existing
music magazine adverts. After I have conducted my
research I plan to start construction of my Ancillary 2.
October 2012

This week I have finished off all products that I needed to create
for my Ancillary 1. I have now started my research into ancillary 2. I
have done this by collecting three existing music magazine
advertisements and analysing them. I have looked at how they
have used the conventions and layout of a poster to make their
product appealing to their audience. Since now I have started to
create my ancillary 2 product I have used some of the layout styles
and conventions in my own product.
As I have now finished my Ancillary 2 I plan to start my
research for my final piece next month.
November 2012

I have started the research for my main piece by research three
existing music videos. I have analysed the videos to look at what
type of styles they use in the video. I have looked at the narrative
and style of the video to get ideas of how I want my final music

For this I looked at how I have applied the conventions of an indie
pop genre throughout my ancillary tasks.
December 2012

This month I have started the planning and construction for my
final piece. I have completed a mind map of ideas for my ideas
generation which will help me decided what I want to do for my
final piece. We have chosen to do a narrative video that is based
around love. We have chosen the song ‘Turning Tables’ By Adele.
After coming back after the chirstmas break I plan on
continuing planning my final piece.

This week we focussed on market research. I created a
questionnaire that I handed out to 10 people. The questionnaire
focuses around what they think makes a music video appealing. It
also asks questions such as what genre of music they listen to and
how old they are. I wanted to do this so that I could target my
music video to the correct type of audience.
I plan to analyse my data gathered and continuing with
my planning.

This week I have analysed the data that I gathered last week from
my market research. I created pie charts and bar graphs to present
the information that I gathered.

I have finished a complete final detailed mind map of our idea
generation in which we then chose what we want in our music
video. I have wrote a report on the mind map which explains what
we plan to use in our video.
Next week we plan to focus on planning for our shoot by
creating a detailed storyboard.

This week we have filmed most of the shots for our music video.
We travelled to the beach and recorded the footage that we
needed. We also shot a few more shots than what we needed so
that we could choose the best ones that fit our video.

This week we have shot the last few shots that we needed to shoot
which did not need to be on the beach. We have also transferred
all of our shots into adobe premiere ready to be edited.

We have now started to edit our music video using adobe
premiere.

This week we have continued to edit the footage that we shot at
the beach and have completed a first draft of our music video that
we have uploaded onto YouTube.
It is taking us longer than expected to edit our music
video as we have occurred some problems with timing
and changing the video width as it was shot in standard
definition. Next week we plan to continue with our edit.

This week we have completed our final draft edit of our music
video and have uploaded it to YouTube. After uploading it to
YouTube I have embedded both my first draft and final draft music
videos into blogger posts so that they are visible on my blog.

on my final piece.

I have created a Facebook focus group to give me feedback on my
video which I have added a number of people to. I have also
started to write my evaluation using the software Prezi.
Finish of my evaluation and to record myself on sound
cloud speaking about question 3.

I have continued to write my evaluation. I have answered
questions one and four using the software Prezi as well as using
PowerPoint and sound cloud to answer question 3. To answer
question 3 I have used a word document and have then uploaded
all my evaluations to my blog.
Next week I plan to make sure that I have completed all
my work and make sure that it is all visible on my blog
