WHAT ARE AWS EBS & AMAZON EBS SNAPSHOTS? • AWS Elastic Block Store (EBS) is Amazon’s block-level storage solution used with the EC2 cloud service to store persistent data. • Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) Snapshots provide a simple and secure data protection solution that is designed to protect your block storage data such as EBS volumes, boot volumes, as well as on-premises block data. • EBS Snapshots are a point-in-time copy of your data, and can be used to enable disaster recovery, migrate data across regions and accounts, and improve backup compliance. LATEST ANNOUNCEMENT • Recycle Bin for Amazon EBS snapshots is a snapshot recovery feature that enables you to restore accidentally deleted snapshots. • When using Recycle Bin, if your snapshots are deleted, they are retained in the Recycle Bin for a time period that you specify. • A recovered snapshot retains its attributes such as tags, permissions, and encryption status, which it had prior to deletion, and can be used immediately for creating volumes.

HOW WILL IT HELP YOU? • This feature enables the customers to recover EBS Snapshots that have been deleted from a customer’s account. • You can enable Recycle Bin for all the snapshots or a subset of the snapshots in your account by creating one or more Retention Rules. • This helps to meet your business continuity needs.

Shabir is a Senior Partner Solutions Architect at AWS. He has a background in Application Infrastructure Architecture with a core focus on migrating and modernizing applications for the cloud. Currently, at AWS he is focused on helping AWS Partner Network (APN) partners build and develop their AWS Practice, and innovate on the AWS platform to deliver the best possible outcomes for their customers. Kinjan is our Director of the IoT and MedTech Engineering Practice here at Infostretch, He has led the creation of various frameworks that enable MedTech companies to shorten their product development cycle. He has more than 22 years of experience in IoT solutions and MedTech Engineering along with enterprise mobile applications, embedded systems, and enterprise solutions. He has worked with both startups and Fortune 500 companies across different industries including Healthcare, Medical Devices, Financial (Mobile and Digital Payments) and Industrial Automation (M2M and IoT solutions). Finally, As Solutions Architect part of the IoT and MedTech Practice at Infostretch, Chintan is involved in building Accelerators & Frameworks to expedite delivery of IoT & Mobility Solutions.
