is, and always will be yours” remains in the hearts of viewers even till

The American President

tells the story of how a US president falls in love with an
environmental lobbyist named Sydney Ellen Wade. Viewers will get to
see how the most powerful man in the world falls into awkward
situations just so that he can pursue his love. Class and well thought
out dialogues makes The American President a highly enjoyable
romantic film.
4. 50 First Dates
50 First Dates is a witty and romantic film which showcases Henry
Roth the lead male character played by Adam Sandler who is afraid of
commitment until he meets Lucy. They hit it off right away which
makes Henry believe that he finally met the girl of his dreams until he
discovers that Lucy has short term memory loss and forgets him every
day. This spawns a dedicated quest for Henry to somehow remind
Lucy every day of the love they share.
When Harry met Sally
The characters Harry and Sally have known each other for years, have
seen each other go through different partners, and are very good
friends. They know they have a special place in each other’s heart,
but fear that sex would ruin their friendship. This film begs and tries
to answer the question, can a man and a woman truly be friends…
You’ll have to watch the movie to find out.
5. Shakespeare in Love
This is the story of a young Shakespeare who was already out of ideas
and short on cash when he suddenly meets his ideal woman. Set in
the late 16th century; the movie tells the story of how William
Shakespeare got inspired to write “Romeo and Ethel the Pirate’s
Daughter.” Shakespeare while writing the novel falls in love with the
wealthy Viola who is promised to a wicked man.
Sliding Doors
A brilliant film; Sliding Doors tells the story of a London woman’s love
life using parallel situations. The entire film depicts what could have
been if she missed the train going home and how this one event could
have changed her life forever. Two possibilities, two outcomes, one
great romantic movie.

Tate Donovan, a geek biochemist that had difficulty being seen by
women as a potential romantic partner, is persuaded by his friends to
go visit a gypsy woman named Madam Ruth who in turn gives him a
magic potion named “Love Potion No. 8.” He shares the potion with
his friend Diane and both enjoy the potion with different partners…an
exploration that proves to be a bit much to handle. This is a romantic,
funny, entertaining and light hearted film that is sure to get viewers
smiling.
7. Four Weddings and a funeral
A toast before we go into battle. True love. In whatever shape or
form it may come. May we all in our dotage be proud to say, ‘I was
adored once too.’” Charles portrayed by Hugh grant, was already in
his 40′s and was still a serial monogamist. He moves from girlfriend
to girlfriend without falling in love.
Most of his friends have already married, but not him. Thoughts of
marrying have never entered his mind until one day at a wedding he
encounters Carrie played by Andie MacDowell, an American fashion
editor. The film is simply intoxicating and filled with a lot of laughs,
plot and twists.
8. The Notebook
The story is about two lovers, Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamiltion,
who met at a carnival and fall madly in love. However, due to their
different social economic statuses, their love is tested by their
families, their desires, and time. This is a love story that challenges
all notions of conventionality to drive home an eternal truth, love
never fails. This one will have you reaching for a tissue box for sure.
Before Sunrise
Before Sunrise tells the story of a young man and woman who
meet on a train in Europe and end up having a romantic evening
together in Vienna. Both know that it would just be a one night
affair. She will go home to Paris while America awaits the guy in
the morning. It contains a fresh story and depicts how to celebrate
love and life. The writers were able to magnify the simple things in
life and made them special.
9. While you were sleeping
A movie filled with witty lines and cute romantic humor; Sandra
Bullock pretends to be romantically linked to an unconscious man
and fools the man’s family into thinking that she is his fiancée.
However, in a series of funny and weird coincidences the brother
of his fake fiancé was able to discover her.
As Good As it Gets
A single mother who works as a waitress forms an unlikely
friendship with a misanthropic author by accident. Despite the
author being cranky, bigoted, and being an obsessive compulsive
writer, he was still able to show his love for the single mother and
her sick son. This film featured brilliant stars like Jack Nicholson and
Helen Hunt.
10. City of Angels
Nicolas Cage played the role of an Angel named Seth who was seen
by Dr. Maggie Rice (played by Meg Ryan) in an operating
room. Despite the rules restricting humans from the ability to see
angels, for some reason Dr. Rice is able to see Seth. The love the angel
has for the doctor forces him to choose between his angelic
immortality and a normal human existence. The film talks about what
a real man would do and the sacrifices he is willing to endure in order
to make love work.
Ever after
Ever After is inspired by the fairy tale story of Cinderella. The title
role was played by the charming Drew Barrymore who was
depicted as an egalitarian minded peasant living with her cruel
stepmother and two stepsisters. One of the sisters is vile while the
other is actually kind. True to the fairy tale, Cinderella falls for the
prince who does not realize Cinderella is a peasant.
11. Breakfast in Tiffany’s
Aside from the fact that it contains a well written script about the
kind of love socialites experience during their time, viewers are sure
to be charmed by the wit and style of Audrey Hepburn in this film. It
depicts her in fancy clothes, parties and the facade of the Upper East
Side lifestyle. Despite all of these, she still felt lonely. But when writer
Paul Varjak moves into her building, they find in each other what
they have been looking for. This film is also known for its last scene,
which is said to be one of the most romantic scenes in a film’s
closing.
12. Brokeback Mountain
This film was truly revolutionary and a bold move for a film maker.
Brokeback Mountain narrates the love story of two men for each
other. These men were played by Heath Ledger and Jake
Gyllenhaal and reveals how the two develop romantic feelings for
each other and how they have been torn apart because of the
rules of society towards their passion. The film was so good and so
revolutionary that it was able to win three Academy Awards.
13. Legends of the fall depicted the early 1900s. The character named
Tristan (Brad Pitt) fell into depression when his brother Samuel died
in WWI. He later began a relationship with his brother’s fiancée,
Susannah (Julia Ormond). However, Tristan became restless and
left her. After that, Tristan realizing his love for Susannah was
stronger than ever came back but she was already married to
another of Tristan’s brother which was Alfred. He had to marry
Isabel and build a life with her, a life that Susannah always wanted.
14. Edward Lewis played by Richard Gere is a
handsome, charming, rich and single guy while
Vivian Ward is a pretty prostitute with a loud
mouth. Edward picks her up one day, and
Richard offered her one week to stay with him
in a luxury hotel for money. Edward Lewis gave
her money to change her clothes and outfit
and she soon transformed into a beautiful
respectable looking woman outside and in.
Edward soon realizes that he has fallen in love
with her despite the criticisms of friends.
15. This is without a doubt one of the most popular romantic movies in
the world. The story revolves around a 17 year old aristocrat who
was expected to marry a rich claimant in order to save their family
from financial ruin. However, while on board the Titanic, she fell in
love with a poor artist after he convinced her not to jump out of the
ship to commit suicide. A sweet but tragic love story that is sure to
make an audience cry.

Two business rivals hate each other but without their knowledge fall
in love with each other over the internet. They befriended each
other through anonymous chat and start loving their conversation
despite being in a relationship with other people. They eventually
realize that the person they love chatting the most about at night is
their enemy in business. This film is truly romantic, sassy and witty.
10 things I hate about you
This film is a romantic film that teenagers are sure to love. A remake
of “Taming of the shrew” written by Shakespeare; is a romantic
teenage movie with surprising depth. The characters are ground
breaking and unforgettable. This was the film that actually launched
the career of Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles.
17. An incredibly moving tale; Kate and her actor brother lived in New
York in the 21st century, but Stuart, Kate’s ex-boyfriend who was
living above her apartment was able to find gaps in time that allowed
him to go back into the 19th century. He accidentally sends Leopold a
baron from the 18th century into the 21st century. Kate and his
brother thought that Leopold was just an actor friend of Stuart and
befriended him despite Leopold stating that he has no idea where he
was. Leopold and Kate fall in love despite coming from different
centuries.
18. A simple bookshop owner’s life is about to change when he meets the
most famous star in the world. The story revolves around the
question: Can an internationally famous American actress find
happiness in a frumpy British bookstore clerk? Due to a series of
fortunate accidents, Anna played by Julia Roberts falls in love with
William Thacker which is played by Hugh Grant. The story depicts the
harsh realities of this complicated relationship, the experiences of
dating a movie star and the triumph that can happen when love
exists.
19. 2. Elizabeth Gilbert which is being played by Julia Roberts had
everything a modern woman can ever want. She had a husband, a
house and a successful career, but just like so many marriages they
got lost and confused and had to search for what they truly wanted
in life. She was newly divorced when she decided to travel around
the world in order to find self-discovery where was able to enjoy the
pleasure of living in Italy and to experience the power of prayer in
India. Unexpectedly, she found her inner peace and balance of true
love in her last stop which was Indonesia.
20. 1. P.S I Love You, is an extraordinary love story directed by Richard
LaGravenese that portrays a powerful and moving narrative of a
love that transcends death. Gerry finds a way to leave love
messages to his surviving wife in order that she may cope with his
loss. The main actors in this story are played by Hilary Swank (Holly)
and Gerard Butler (Gerry). If you have not watched this movie
before, a word of warning…you will cry.
