Despite secularization, the urban middle class remains religious. 2) In East Asia, concepts similar to the Protestant work ethic in religions like Confucianism have encouraged values like hard work that contributed to economic growth. 3) Research found similarities between the Protestant work ethic and values promoted by Latin American Pentecostalism that can encourage productivity. 4) Pentecostalism's ability to incorporate local customs has contributed to its success in developing countries
