With the release of GP 2013 R2 there are new options in the Customize Home Page.
This new functionality is exposed are three options on the Customize Home Page window:
If you click on Change Role… you will see that a new Self Service role has been added for each industry:
When this home page role is selected, either at user creation or after an upgrade to Dynamics GP 2013 R2, the home page will be altered to include the three available Self Service pages.
Each Self Service page section has three components:
You can enter timecards from the above Time Management area or from the HR & Payroll Navigation List
Employees can login in with web client and see their home page. They will see their time information for the current week and they can click on Current Week and be able to enter their timecard. There are also links where they can click on to enter time or recall a timecard.
If you click on Saved, this will pull your SAVED timecards. If you click on Rejected this will show any timecards that are REJECTEDIf you click on Pending User Action this will be anything listed in your “to do”If you click Paid this is actually timecards that are in the history table.
You can use the Profile page to view and manage your personal data. Cards>>Self Service and then Choose Employee Profile. Once changes are saved, you can Save or Submit them to the workflow process. Once a change has been submitted into Workflow, and another user goes to make a change on that employee record, the user will be warned “The workflow process for this employee is not complete.”
When choosing to view my paystubs, the user will be brought to a navigation list of all their pay checks. The employee can choose the check(s) they want to print and click view or print.
This will display the their detailed check information. Note that in GP2015 we have added the feature to include the Period Beginning and Ending dates. Also note that the employee SS Number is not on the check stub!
This page lists employee and employer-paid payroll benefit contributions. Note that if you want to persue the employee to change their benefits, you will want to look athe Benefit Self Service Module in the Advanced Human Resource Payroll series. This window is dynamic in that it will pull whether you are using Human Resource or Payroll to store your employee information. If it does not find it in HR, it will look to Payroll.
Here you can change your direct deposit information. For each account you set up, you’ll need the Bank Routing number, the Account Number, and the Account Type. A great feature is the STOP Deposit Actions which allows employees to completely stop all Direct Deposits and receive a check instead.
Employee’s W-4 can be updated and submitted as needed. Note that unlike Business Portal, there will no longer be a need to load a W4 form each year. Yeah! Another great feature is that the year will automatically change based o
New Regulations for Submitting Form W-4 to the IRS
These temporary and proposed regulations, published April 14, 2005, provide guidance under section 3402(f) of the Internal Revenue Code for employers and employees relating to the Form W-4, "Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate." These temporary regulations provide rules for the submission of copies of certain withholding exemption certificates to the IRS, the notification provided to the employer and the employee of the maximum number of exemptions permitted, and the use of substitute forms.

Did you know Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 has new functionality for your employees? In addition to other employee self-service functionality, Microsoft released the newly improved and redesigned Benefits Self Service functionality that will allow your employees to enroll into their company benefits online. While this does technically replace the existing Business Portal functionality, it is a far superior product. With online employee enrollment, businesses will no longer have to gather paper documents from their employees and re-key that information into Microsoft Dynamics GP for benefit enrollment selections made. This will make health & life insurance along with retirement enrollment very simple for HR Administrators. Benefits administrators will be able to open up an enrollment periods for their employees, allowing the employee to do the data entry. They simply review and “post” the enrollments right into Human Resources and Payroll.
