The document discusses the main cause of the American Civil War. While slavery is often cited as the primary cause, the document argues this is mistaken. It states that if slavery was the sole cause, the war would have begun earlier. Additionally, major disputes over slavery did not emerge until after it had ended. The document instead points to struggles over power between northern and southern states, and taxation of the profitable southern cotton industry, as better explanations for the war's outbreak in 1861.

The document discusses the debate between social responsibility and shareholder theories of corporate governance. Social responsibility theory holds that corporations have an obligation to society beyond maximizing profits for shareholders. However, shareholder theory maintains that the sole responsibility of a corporation is to its shareholders, and that trying to serve other interests can undermine profitability. Determining the proper balance between these views remains an ongoing discussion.
This document discusses differing opinions on the controversial issue of the death penalty. Some arguments for the death penalty are that it deters crime and that murderers deserve the ultimate punishment. However, others argue that capital punishment legalizes killing and that life in prison is a worse punishment than death. The issue is complex with reasonable arguments on both sides regarding what form of justice and punishment is most appropriate.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

2. Lord of the Flies by William Golding and Rosseau
Golding and Rousseau brought two different ideas using Lord of the Flies. They make you really think
on what they are trying to prove. You can agree with either of them but people have their own
opinions. Golding and Rousseau disagreed with each other s opinions on how human nature becomes
evil. If I had to choose whose opinion I agree with, then I would choose
Rousseau s.
Rousseau s beliefs regarding human nature were that people are not born evil. He believes that people
are good and act the way they want to. He does not believe that anyone can never be evil without
something causing them to be. He believes that when someone is evil or makes bad decisions, it is
because they are corrupted by society. People in society makes someone desire something that us past
the level of good to meet their needs which is by something bad. Written by Rousseau, Let us
conclude that, being self sufficient and subject to so few passions, he could have no feeling or
knowledge but such as befitted his situation. I believe that his statement is explaining that when
someone desires something so bad, they would do anything not even realizing what they may be doing
is wrong which helps them get what they want. It makes them think that it is okay. Rousseau claimed
that people who are born evil are ill or mental. Golding s beliefs on human nature was mostly opposite
of Rousseau s beliefs. Golding believed that everyone is born badly and are naturally evil. He believed
that people

3. Theory Of Skyline Queries
Many attempts have been made towards developing optimized algorithms and introduction of several
models for skyline queries. Skyline queries had been studied as the maximum vectors before Borzsony
and colleagues [23] introduced skyline queries for database applications. Various algorithms are
provided for skyline computations, including calculation of the progressive skyline using auxiliary
structures, the nearest neighbor algorithm for processing the skyline query, the branch and bound
skyline (BBS) algorithm, the sort filter skyline (SFS) algorithm that exploits pre arranged lists, and
linear erase sorting (LESS) algorithm for the skyline. Recently, there has been a growing interest in
addressing the problem of large dimensions for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In [28], it is shown that the proposed method is not correct. Sharifzadeh and colleagues [29] have
proposed another version of the method that eliminates the flaws of the previous version, but it is
computationally costly. Other methods for calculating skyline have been suggested as well. A multi
objective optimized process for skyline has been presented based on the genetic algorithm by Özyer et
al. [30]. Fuzzy skyline has been proposed to make the skyline more flexible. In particular, fuzzy
skyline in [31] is considered and a flexible overcome relation is provided. This relationship makes it
possible to extend skyline with points that are not highly dominated by any other points (even if they
are strongly dominated). Yet, other methods arise to improve the skyline. A variety of fuzzy skyline
methods are studied in [32]. In the paper, five incentives are raised to fuzzify the skyline. The first
motivation is to refine the skyline with the introduction of a sequence of points to find the best skyline
points. The second is to make the skyline more flexible. This means that where points conditions are
close to the skyline points, they are also considered as members of the skyline. In the third case, the
skyline can become easier with different methods. For example, by

4. Gilligan s Theory Of Moral Development In Antigone By...
How does one ultimately make the difference between what is morally right and wrong? Lawrence
Kohlberg, a psychologist, and his student, Carol Gilligan, developed two variations of a theory that
classifies people based on their perceptions of what is right or wrong. Kohlberg s theory ranks people
based on their understanding of universal principles and ethics, while Gilligan s theory focuses more
on the differences between moralities between men and women. These theories can be applied to the
characters of Antigone, a Greek play by Sophocles that tells the story of a woman transgressing the
king s orders by burying her brother s body after he dies in battle. In Sophocles s Greek tragedy
Antigone, Creon undergoes a dynamic change in his sense of morality based on his classification on
the scales in Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development, Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory, and a
general scale of morality; however his low initial morals hold him responsible for the deaths of his
loved ones.
Creon s morality at the beginning of the play ranks on the lower end of Kohlberg s Theory of Moral
Development and Gilligan s Ethics of Care Theory. For example, in the introductory scene of the play,
Creon tells the Chorus, ... whoever shows by word and deed that he is on the side of the state he shall
have my respect while he is living and my reverence when he is dead (1.1.52 55). His statement
proves that the refuses to acknowledge anyone who does not serve his purposes. This implies

5. Date Of Death Research Paper
It s indubitable that everyone fears death, and it s understandable that some people want to live as long
as possible and to live a happier life they can. Therefore, an advancing technology, Cryonics, came out
and considered as a conquest of people s fear of death and nature. For me, personally, I think the
dangers of knowing the date of death outweighs the benefits, and people are supposed to live their
own lives instead of planning their happiest life beforehand. I also don t support the reanimation
because I believe that people are supposed to die when it s time for them to die. First of all, the
consequence of knowing exactly date of death is too uncertain that we may not be able to afford.
Some people may argue that they can plan well for their life if they know exactly which year or day
they will die, but the reality is that they don t know if they can really make it that is, do everything as
they plan to. Once people know when they are going to die, as the deadline approaches, the terrors
under their minds arouse and they have no ideas how theses terrors may take over them. In ... Show

things that would make me happy instead having people planning for me. What s more, planning my
own life is a happy thing for me, so what don t I plan my life on my own? I won t choose to do
Cryonics because I think I will miss the growth of myself, the changes of my parents and friends, and
vicissitudes of life during the time when I am refrigerant. Without those, a rebirth of life is
meaningless to me. Although I dream of living forever, but when it really comes to immorality, I don t

6. The Pros And Cons Of Onboarding
I am a manager. So managers have specific responsibilities when it comes to the socialization of
people hiring. The process of introducing a new employee to company culture and other employees is
often referred to as onboarding. And there are indeed ethical implications involved in the socialization
process. Management is tasked with introducing a company s mission, culture, rules and procedures to
new employees. Ethics play a role in the way management chooses to do this. The process of
onboarding new hires requires management to impart the organization s purpose, mission and goals.
Onboarding also requires management to provide new a hires with a complete description of their job
and inform them of their responsibilities, beyond what was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An ascribed status, on the other hand, is one that beyond an individual s control. It is not earned, but
rather something people are either born with or had no control over. Examples of ascribed status
include sex and race. Children usually have more ascribed statuses than adults since they do not
usually have a choice in most matters. A family social status or socioeconomic status, for instance,
would be an achieved status for adults, but an ascribed status for children. Homelessness might also be
another example. For adults, homelessness usually comes by way of achieving, or rather not
achieving, something. For children, however, homelessness is not something they have any control
over. They become as such by default of their parents actions. Role conflict is a tension that occurs
when a person is facing multiple roles having multiple statuses. It means that it occurs between two or
more than two roles. I have experienced role conflict. One day I visit my mother in hospital, I also
wish to go a marriage ceremony of my close friend, same time I have to go for school for my daughter
parent meeting and also I have to go for office to complete an emergency

7. Aztec Advancement to Herbal Medicine
The Aztecs made great advances in many areas. One of their accomplishments was herbal medicine.
Aztec medicine was based on two areas which are spiritual healing and herbal healing. Many of the
illnesses that affected the Aztecs were caused to religious reasons: an angry god, bad birth signs, or
something to that effect. The first step of treating an illness was a prayer and/or sometimes animal
sacrifices. After that, herbal medicine would be used. Today, many herbal medicines can be found in
Central America. The Aztecs knew how herbal medicines would work. They concentrated on finding
out what herbal medicine could do. The Aztecs also concentrated on curing the symptoms of an illness
than finding the cause of the illness. They believed that if a god gave a person an illness, they cannot
anything to cure that patient. According to Aztec legends, Well, if the gods want this man to suffer,
they can make my herbs powerless. If the medicine works, it means that the gods wish for the patient
to be relieved. This statement was used to make herbal medicine useful. The Aztecs used leeches to
help patients to ease their pain. The Aztecs developed a writing system in which they used
pictographs. Pictographs were simple pictures that were used as a form of writing. With pictographs,
they wrote many codices. The codices were a book or manuscript (written documents). The codices
talked about ceremonies, the ritual calendar, and information about the gods and the universe. These

I think viewers such as myself appreciate the idea of letting our imagination go wild and make our
own interpretation of what the photograph is or might be and develop our own side story to that
photograph. Although most photographers titled their photographs, it s a lot more fun to be creative as
was she/he when they took that photo and thought of its name.
What does the imagery say about the photographer?
I think that the photographs that the photographers took really tells a lot about him/herself. There were
pictures such as flowers, kids, waterfalls and forest. To me, that tells me that he/she must be a very
calming and soft hearted person. There were also photographs of people, parks and athletes (Mn Twin
baseball) which also tells me that this photographer was a social person who enjoy sports, a good walk
in the park and socializing with people.
What do the photographs say about the area and the era in which these photographs were created?
Photographs taken in the older days from 1990 s were a lot colorless, blind and lacks facial
expression. Which is understandable because photography was invented shortly before that time frame
compare to now where most photographs are in color, are bigger in size and has different printing

9. How Corporate Scandals Crush the Company, Investors, and...
Tracing back the history of accounting scandals, major corporate scandals not only hurt the economy
but also crush investors confidence on investing in companies. For example, the Enron scandal, the
WorldCom scandal, and so on. The majority of corporate scandals are created by greedy corporate
senior officers. One way to create a scandal is cooking the books . Cooking the book is an accounting
term which means making false financial statements in order to meet the number that investors or
banks expected. In this case, Richard Scrushy is one of the greedy Chief Executive Officers (CEO).
According to Washington Post, Richard Scrushy, was a self made son of the new South, a former
teenage parent who hauled himself up from a menial job to become an emperor of the new economy
(Steve Barnette, Washington Post). Richard Scrushy, the CEO and the founder of HealthSouth
Corporation, was one of the most successful and respected business men in the state of Alabama. This
is a story of a fallen American dream. HealthSouth Corporation is the United States largest inpatient
rehabilitative hospital. HealthSouth provides the services of rehabilitative care to patients recovering
from all kinds of conditions. It started in 1984, the company was originally named Amcare Inc. By the
end of 1990, HealthSouth expanded to 50 facilities all over the United States. HealthSouth reach $400

10. Symptoms Of Chronic Wasting Disease
In the last 13 years, cases of Chronic Wasting Disease have increased to over 25% in bucks and over
10% in does (Marien). With CWD being such a deadly disease, the rising percentage of cases has led
to decreasing deer populations. Because the spread of CWD has resulted in many deaths, fewer
hunting tags are allowed in affected areas to help the deer herd get healthy again. It is possible,
though, that as the populations grow back, CWD may also become more prevalent. Actually stopping
this tragic disease is a challenge, but plans must be put in place to bring its spread to a halt. Therefore,
it is important that hunters and the general public be informed of what CWD is, how it is spread, how
it affects animals, and what can be done to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To avoid the death of the entire herd, it is important for the farmer to be able to identify the symptoms
and confirm whether or not CWD is present. If any of the deer test positive, the farmer should put
those animals down. This will not only stop the spread of CWD, but it will also stop the animals from
suffering as it can take a long time for them to finally expire after getting this disease. Unfortunately, it
is hard to tell whether an animal is infected with CWD, since it could take up to as much as 18 months
for the disease to disable the central nervous system of the deer. Of course, it can set in sooner or later,
but with a deer infected for such a long time, it could lead to the owner having to put down the rest of
his animals due to possible contamination.
Killing captive animals that may be infected is a necessary safety precaution in case some of them
escape into the wild. In fact, this happened in Fairchild, Wisconsin. Twenty deer from an infected deer
farm fled when a tree fell and knocked over the fence. Of them, 17 were either shot or returned and
eventually put down. In the end, all of the deer at the Fairchild farm, 228 in total, had been put down.
Of those 228 deer, 23 were found CWD positive. It is certainly possible then that any of the three
unfound escaped deer could have also been infected and spread CWD throughout the surrounding
herds. After the gun season in that

South park censorship controversy South Park have always received mixed response from it s
audiences. Famous for the use of foul language, dark humour which satirizes a wide range of topics

generated countless debates and controversy over the course of it s run. The debate over censorship of
some episodes, and the show as a whole continues nowadays, and both sides seem to have truth
behind their words. Pro censorship group states that South Park is harmful for young minds, that
religion is not the right thing to joke about and that show has to know it s limits. Anti censorship group

Some schools banned South Park related merchandise for students, and parent councils in UK
expressed concern when their children voted Cartman as their favourite personality in 1999 poll. From
Matt Stone s point of view, this poll should be an eye opener to parents. Kids are not nice, innocent,
flower loving little rainbow children. Kids are all little bastards; they don t have any kind of social tact
or etiquette. He reckons. (Lim D. 1998) Result of the said poll serves as a good evidence that South
Park has a certain level of impact on the children. If kids vote for a specific character, it means that
they can relate to that character in one way or another, and children tend to imitate what they see or
like. Is Eric Cartman a good influence for children? I don t think so. Not only people who fight for
safety of children reacted on the show s content. Religious people also had something to say about
specific episodes of the show. Portrayal of Virgin Mary in 139th episode of South Park angered
several Catholics, and creators also received threat messages for portrayal of proper Muhammad in
143rd episode. The show s aim is to provoke and offend, so the reaction is quite

12. Techniques Louis de Bernières Uses to Portray the Effects...
What techniques does Louis de Bernières use to portray the effects of the war so powerfully?
Louis de Bernières uses many techniques to portray the effects of the war as powerfully as he does. He
uses techniques that vary from use of language, to using the diary of a homosexual soldier. In the in
between there are other techniques such as: contrast of the good and bad effects of the war; death,
from the inside and the outside; or showing feelings from soldiers instead of numbers and figures.
From my point of view, the use of language is the technique that sticks out the most. He uses all sorts
of words, meanings, effects and even languages! Just as he uses sarcasm everywhere: War is a
wonderful thing. In movies and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The power of the words, and the roughness of what they are telling makes the reader feel incredibly
impressed by the cruelty of war, and the courage of soldiers. The fact that the use of language is the
most effective technique is perfectly logical, as words are the ones in charge of putting the message
through, and thanks to these words and the way in which they were used, the reader gets a real,
touching and effective feeling of how the war was. Of course, using different languages instead of
translating names of places and people gave even more sense of reality and the reader felt more in
touch with the characters and with the story being narrated.
However, another technique Louis de Bernières used when writing
Captain Corelli´s Mandolin that really struck me, was the diary of a homosexual, Carlo Guercio. This
can be described as the human part of the war. It just talks about the feelings and experiences of a
soldier. What Carlo talks about is touching, moreover the way in which
Louise de Bernières puts himself into a homosexual soldier´s position is amazing. He uses
homosexual eyes to make us see the inside of a war in the most original way. Homosexuals are not
supposed to be very masculine, therefore it is not very common for homosexuals to recruit, but also
thanks to the fact that it is a homosexual narrating, we get a better sense of what the feelings

15. Heritage, a Theme in Alice Walker´s Everyday Use
Alice Walker sets Everyday Use as a story of a mother and two daughters where the older daughter,
Dee, is coming home to visit them after being away for a while. Walker sets the tone of the story by
displaying how poor and uneducated the family is and how Dee while growing up was always looking
for better things never appreciating the aspects of her life. As the story develops, the focus of the story
is on a set of quilts made by the mother from pieces of clothing that belonged to her grandparents and
the personal battle of who should really keep them in order to appreciate the heritage behind them. In
Everyday Use a person can see how Maggie and Dee differ on the fact that heritage is a characteristic
of pride that a person displays every day of their life versus a fad for a specific period of someone s
life.
While growing up Dee was always resentful of the lifestyle that she had as it did not measure to the
better things she was always dreaming of. While the mother recounts the story of when their original
house burned to the ground, she mentions how Dee stood there concentrating at the way the house
slowly disappeared in the fire since she hated the house that much (Walker 298). This aspect sets the
tone of how Dee was never willing to embody the characteristics of her life growing up, and it can be
seen how she was ashamed of where she came from as later she writes her mother in a letter of how
she will always try to visit them, but she will never bring her

16. Clonal Heterogeneity
Cancer is a systemic disease and advanced cancers can be locally advanced or metastatic. Generally,
the metastatic potential is through to be due to tumor heterogeneities which origin from the differences
generated in the evolution process of cancer itself as well as host microenvironment. The capability of
invasion and metastasis is closely related to cell motility and requires the cytoskeleton that is essential
during mitoses[18]. Since malignancy criteria are mainly related to the phenotype of actively
proliferating cells, metastatic deposits genetically match well differentiated areas of primary and
invasive areas[19]. These factors need attention when planning the evaluation of intratumoral
heterogeneity and detailed specification would be necessary to pinpoint the intratumoral location, to
assess selective process and to analyze pathways[18, 20]. These biological foundations would improve
the therapeutic design and patient s management base on heterogeneity.

However, it should be noted that this approach could only be reliable only where the genetic
compositions of primary and metastatic tumors are similar. In addition, elucidating the key difference
between early and late origin of metastasis initiating cells is pivotal for determining the therapeutic
strategies that target tumor invasion. The question of clonal heterogeneity within metastases remains
unexplored, and, moreover, clonal heterogeneity within primary tumors has limited direct therapeutic
relevance. It should be noted that primary tumors can be successfully removed by surgery in most
cases, but this is most often not the case for metastatic outgrowths. Therefore, elimination of
metastatic clones has to rely on adjuvant therapies, and it is likely that the success of these therapies
will depend on the extent of the heterogeneity of these tumor cell

The best they can offer is the much abused commerce clause and even that falls short given that refers

This is a very important, but rarely discussed issue that goes to the central tenets of liberty.
Our civil rights are based upon the control of private property. In fact one could argue that it s not
even private property if it s under government edict. While some would like to cite the adage that
possession is nine tenths of the law the reality is that ownership is vested in the entity that controls an
item s storage, use and transference. If the government controls those parameters it is the true owner
of that property with the people being it s temporary possessors.
There are those desirous of control who want people to think that firearms as somehow different than
other items of property, simply because those items are a constraint over governmental power. While
lorries and other motorised vehicles can be deadly, they don t serve as a constraint on tyranny so they
are no concern of the Left. The plain fact is that firearms aren t any different than other types of
property. As it is with the government, the slippery slope will see them try to control other types of
property if it can get people to accept it with firearms.

I believe these subjects are necessary for a well rounded education, and as a math teacher, I will be

we want to be able to compete with the rest of the world economically and technologically. Not only
must students sit in a class where these subjects are taught, but they also need to master the material
before they move on to the next grade. This is the job of the teacher. It is up to the teacher to make
sure that his students understand the material and can do it on their own before he moves on to
something else. I believe that the grade a student makes reflects the teacher. If a student makes an F,
the teacher has failed in his teaching of that student. This does not mean that the teacher should make
his class easy. I still agree with the essentialist that academic rigor is an essential component of
education. However, I do not agree that this necessitates a great amount of homework. The level of
work can be tough and stretch the minds of the students, but if the teacher is able to teach his students
well in class and they comprehend the material and can practice it during the class period, I do not

In an article from Ohio State University, research was done to show that 64 percent of college students
used loans to help pay for college, which is similar to what other studies have found . The main causes
for this would be that students need to be able to have the jobs that they majored in help pay towards
their debt. In the article The Unspoken Cause of the Student Loan Crisis Walia explains that if
students are not majoring in the jobs that allow students to begin working immediately and start to pay
off the loan, it is going to be hard for students to get out of the debt and work towards buying a home,
car, and paying for other living things that students need. If the students major does not provide a good
way of making money, it will be harder to repay the loan. In the article Walia states that Engineers are
very likely to be hired right out of college, to command premium salaries and to see their incomes
increase steadily through their careers. Someone majoring in fine arts is not nearly as good a credit

25. Gel Filtration Chromatography Lab Report
Gel Filtration Chromatography is a commonly used method used in order purify a protein from a
mixture, by means of separations. Different biomolecules differ in size, or their molecular weight. In
the gel matrix inside the chromatography column, there are gel beads which are porous to allow
certain sized molecules to enter. The molecules that are able to enter the pores of the gel, are held in
stationary phase and will elute from the column later on, these are usually smaller, to medium sized
molecules. Larger molecules that are not able to fit in the pores will elute out of the column first, they
are involved in mobile phase where they just go straight through the column without interacting with
the gel beads. Smaller molecules will have a higher elution volume, while the larger molecules will
have a lower elution volume. The volume to elute the protein is inversely proportional to the
molecules size.

illustrates the author s childhood memories with description and imagery theme but have different

neighborhood. Dillard depicts her childhood from the age of five through high school, in 1950 s
America. According to Dillard, to find the source of happiness, one must resist the world to try to seal
that character out and in Once more to the lake by E.B. White also reflects his childhood memories
with his parents and later with his son and express those certain elements of life, such as the
enjoyment of the youth, continue forever for a different generation. The main idea of the Dillard s
essay is maintaining cheerfulness and joy even in adulthood, by narrating her childhood as a template
for developing and maintaining happiness and White includes descriptions and imagery theme from
his past and present. This reflection allows the reader to imagine the memories of a son and a father

Once more to the Lake by E.B. White are descriptions and imagery sprung from the same childhood
memories, they have explored the experience of a child from a different perspective.
In Both essays, Dillard s An American Childhood and White s One more to the Lake the authors are

In the Robert Frost poem The Road Not Taken there is a pervasive and in many ways intrinsic sense of
journey throughout. In such, the poem explores an aspect associated with human decision, or
indecision, relative to the oxymoron, that choices with the least the difference should bear the most
indifference, but realistically, carry the most difficulty. This is conveyed through the use of several
pivotal techniques. Where the first such instance is the use of an extended metaphor, where the poem
as a whole becomes a literary embodiment of something more, the journey of life. The second
technique used is the writing style of first person. Where in using this, the reader can depict a clear

the readers life, that they substitute their own feelings and create their own meaning, their own attitude

32. The Catcher Of The Rye, By J. D. Salinger
From the beginning of time, achieving success and greatness has been the ultimate human goal.
Success can be found in many different forms, from ruling a Roman empire to receiving a high grade
on a test. Society s view of success has changed throughout generations, urging people to conform to
society s beliefs in order to fulfill their goals and dreams. The theme of success and fulfillment are
evident in literature and theatre pieces that were written centuries ago, and continue into novels
written in the present. The play Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, and the novel The Catcher
in the Rye, written by J. D. Salinger follow the lives of two protagonists as they are each individually
shaped by society s idea of prosperity. The protagonists of both the novel and the play, Holden and
Macbeth, exhibit similar qualities that allow them to attempt to achieve ultimate greatness and find
success. Both the novel The Catcher in the Rye and the play Macbeth demonstrate the pressure there is
on men to prosper and achieve high rankings in society. This pressure leads to the development of

33. Internet Censorship in China Essay
In the United States, every child, teenager and adult uses Wikipedia, YouTube and Facebook, among
numerous other sites, regularly. The internet is open and uncensored for the most part, other than
parental controls. In China, most, if not all of those types of sites are or have been blocked. As in, you
could not go to them, unless you found some way around the web filters and firewalls the Chinese
government runs in their country. While China defends their practice of internet censorship, based on
protecting the people, heavy internet censorship is a block to free speech and impedes economic and
social development in the 21st century. China says it has its reasons for censoring its internet. Wang
Chen, minister for the State Council ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The aim is to tighten political control and get Internet users to censor themselves by bringing them
face to face with their censors or their agents. (Anonymous) Reporters without Boarders further talked
of why these regulations present a new block for free speech. What Netizen will dare to criticize the
regime after meeting the person who could put them behind bars for one wrong word? (Anonymous)
Reporters Without Borders is further stating that someone who might talk about something the
government might find questionable will not do it at all if that person is met by someone who could
put them in prison. On the other hand, the US does not actively regulate the internet, relying on the
public to regulate content on the internet, with little government intervention. The internet in the US is
relatively open, whereas in China, information on the internet is suppressed based on what the Chinese
government deems appropriate or inappropriate. Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, has stated,
Countries that heavily censor the Net are creating a new Information Curtain to rival the old Iron
Curtain of the Cold War era. (Anderson) Clinton talked more of the US s position on internet
censorship. Further, New technologies do not take sides, said Clinton. But the United States does. The
US supports an open internet. (Anderson)
Corporations that move into China have long recognized that internet censorship is a fact of life. In

34. Antonio Tempesta Shroud
I believe that the shroud is not the real burial cloth of Jesus. One reason for this is because research
that a man named Charles Freeman did shows that the cloth looks very different today than it did in
the 17th century. An engraving done in 1613 by Antonio Tempesta shows that originally, the images
found on the shroud were much more pronounced. Some of the features visible in this engraving, such
as the Crown of Thorns and the loincloth, are no longer visible when one looks at the shroud today.
Another reason for this opinion is that there has been no discovery of significant evidence that the
shroud existed before 1355, which is when it appeared in a chapel being advertised as Christ s burial
shroud. The granddaughter of the chapel s owner,

35. ESPN Target Market
The consumer market for ESPN s streaming service is made up of sports enthusiasts who need access
to live events and sports information on the go. According to our situation analysis, consumers use
ESPN for their sports needs because of ESPN s strong brand name; the ESPN brand promotes
awareness and trust to consumers within the sports entertainment market. Due to ESPN s focus on a
higher purpose, many consumers choose ESPN over competitors for their environmental sustainability
and diversity initiatives. Thus, ESPN s well known brand name and positive public image bolster
ESPN s favorability among sports enthusiasts within the entertainment market.
Sports enthusiasts provide the target market for ESPN within the sports entertainment industry. The
specific target market segment we will target for ESPN s streaming service is busy individuals who
want to keep up with sports but are unable to do so because of time constraints. The entire target
market may include individuals who lack adequate access to ESPN outlets, such as cord cutters .

36. Edward R. Murrow s See It Now
Television has drastically changed over time in terms of its content, reach, and accuracy. In 1954,
journalist Edward R. Murrow and his television series See it Now were dedicated to revealing the
truth to their audience no matter how unpleasant the news. Murrow had been specifically interested in
revealing the truth about Senator Joseph McCarthy, who had carried out investigations against
government workers and those of public institutions who were believed to have ties to communism.
Murrow did not appear to feel obligated by McCarthy to only report positive things about him, despite
the fact he was a public figure with a lot of power who could destroy his company and reputation.

There is a wider variety of channels in terms of quantity and quality. People have the option to seek
news from multiple sources in order to validate it and formulate their opinions on issues. Because of
this, television does not have as much influence today as it had in the 1950s. With the development of
other forms of media such as computers, smartphones, and tablets, people generally retrieve their
news from websites and applications on these devices of which there are plenty. Therefore, if coverage
of a McCarthy type politician were produced today, it would not be as much of a burden on each
journalist because the stakes would not be as high, as there are other outlets providing similar content.
However, many of today s news channels have deviated away from the principles of journalism,
which emphasize reporting the truth and not repressing any information. In the media and television
today, there is a large emphasis on advertising and image. Many companies select news to report
based on what would help to improve their reputation and generate more profit by catering to
advertisers. If the McCarthy controversy were to happen today, news channels would report on it, but
in a way that would not jeopardize themselves. It is also likely that they would skew the news to cater
to the views of their audience and advertisers. Thus, reporters would also most likely not make
statements as bold as Murrow as they would fear McCarthy potentially destroying their

37. The Political Party Development Act
This chapter elaborates on three proposed political reform agenda this paper discusses. The Political
party development act deals with providing minimal standards for party operations. It also prohibits
party switching while encouraging party loyalty and discipline. By amending the Party list system act
of 1995, the definition of party list sort out. It is for proportional representation, as what the
Constitution states. Thus, this amendment ensures party list groups to receive a state subsidy for
development. The upcoming Constitutional amendment should also include electoral reforms. A clear
definition of what forms a party and a party list is essential to not create confusion. These three
proposals intertwine and cross cut to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This bill limits such contribution to Php 100 000 from natural persons and Php 1 million from juridical

Party switching or political turncoats are when a member of a party of a party changes affiliation after
being nominated by the party. This bill punishes any politicians and candidates who switch parties
while in office. They can be disqualified from running for any elective position and prohibited from
holding public office for 3 years. They cannot take any executive or administrative position in their
political party. They must refund all subsidies they received with a surcharge of 25 percent. Parties are
also required to have a merit system for the nomination and selection of their candidates. This
promotes party loyalty and discipline among party members. Stability and order are possible because
there is a clear procedure on the governance of political parties. This clear structure also produces
legitimacy for the political party system. This bill helps in strengthening parties and institutionalizing
rules and behaviours. It makes parties coherent, and valuable. Thus, they can conduct party activities
and function during and after an election.
Key Development of the Bill as a Legislation
The bill has been in the making for almost 13 years now. Its first filing was in the 12th Congress.

38. The Clay Marble By Minfong Ho
Written by Minfong Ho, The Clay Marble introduces a relatively new topic to today s teenagers the
lives of Cambodia during wartime in the 1970s. In 154 pages and eighteen chapters, The Clay Marble
follows the life of the protagonist, Dara, a twelve year old Cambodian girl, seeking a home for the
remnants of family during Cambodian s civil war. The novel is historical fiction, presenting the story
of Dara in her own first person perspective.
Summary
With a war going on between the Khmer Rouge and Vietnamese government, the supposedly safest
and richest (with food/supply) and populated place was Nong Chan, a refugee camp on the Thailand
border. That was the destination of Dara, her mother, and her brother, Sarun coming from a village
known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, Dara heavily relied on Jantu s magic clay marble, needing its magic, its luck, and a lot more
values that are not muscles. Back then, it was reasonable Dara didn t make anything back then,
because back then, Dara only had remnants of confidence in herself. As the novel goes on, Dara learns
to become more and more confident within herself.
The Clay Marble, although short and sweet, introduced me to Asian life in Cambodia during its civil
war. In chapter seven of the book, I could make a connection between the Cherokee s Trail of Tears
and the long grueling walk the many refugee families had to take to reach safety. The Cherokees were
walking away from the harsh greedy whites, while the refugees were walking away from the nearing
fighting of the civil war.
I really appreciate Dara and Jantu s view on life. In the novel, when Dara was persuading Sarun to quit
being a soldier at the end, she made wonderful arguments. The most memorable argument was when
Dara said that it took more courage to stay peaceful in their own village, rather than to fight in war,
which was nothing else than a game of destroying and breaking. I never thought of bravery that kind
of way, and I am glad Minfong Ho introduced me to this new concept through her

40. World War 1 Essay
In today s digital age, development of new technology and weapons are at an alarming rate, hence
arises the need to stay ahead of advancements in order to properly defend the nation, as well as
coalition forces and allies. In this period of warfare, the number one threat comes in the form of air
breathing and ballistic missiles. During World War II, this threat was present, but was not thought to
be prevalent. Following World War I, and into the beginning of World War II, the United States of
America was still recuperating from the first war, and therefore did not engage. The focus was
reestablishing the military in the form of personnel and equipment. It was becoming evident that the
forward shift in technology was forcing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, the officer on duty ignored the warning. Had he not, the attack on Pearl Harbor could
have been less severe, if not countered completely. In addition, the task of almost the entirety of the air
defense of Pearl Harbor fell upon the United States Navy and the United States Air Corp, despite the
16th Coast Artillery Regiment having eighty two 3 inch anti aircraft guns, twenty 37 mm anti aircraft
guns, and one hundred and nine .50 caliber anti aircraft machine guns. The Army Air Corp s P 36 and
P 40 pursuit planes were the main deterrent to enemy aircraft, unfortunately, this was the target of the
Japanese Naval Fleet (Anti aircraft). At the end of the attack, only a few P 36 s were able to escape the
barrage of bullets and bombs, and managed to destroy ten of the Japanese Zero s, while the 16th Coast
Artillery Regiment brought down six. Ironically, four years prior, in June of 1937, the United States
War Department began drafting a plan to increase the continental anti aircraft artillery due to rising
tensions with Japan, yet was not approved until late 1940. The plan called for increasing the number
of 3 inch guns from 135 to 472, as well as increasing the number of regiments to 80, which would
account for roughly 4,000,000 service men, solely for the defense of the continental United States.
The Secretary of War, Henry L. Stimson, approved the project for Pearl Harbor, which would increase

41. The Condemnation of Marcus Brutus
We ll attack when we re told, And submit should he scold, For we re old Pa Ubu s dogs of war (Taylor
31) is the mantra and role of Brutus from Ubu and the Truth Commission by Jane Taylor. This play
tells the complicated story of South African politics and highlights the failures of the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in its attempts to heal the wounds of South Africa and bring justice
in the transition from Apartheid. In Act Five: Scene One we see the condemnation and trial of Brutus,
the three headed dog and co conspirator of Pa Ubu, and through this can draw a direct parallel to the
real life difficulties that were encountered by South Africa when trying the political players involved
in Apartheid. Taylor uses this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking into the sentencing of this Brutus helps to draw even more parallels to real life instances that
the TRC came across. The sentence that was delivered upon the First Brutus was two hundred and
twelve years imprisonment, due to the fact that this First Brutus was the source that performed these
acts, and the victims had identified him. The two hundred and twelve year sentence is not an arbitrary
number, but was shaped after the sentence that was handed down to Eugene De Kock. De Kock was
the commander of Section C1 of the South African police, a secret force that was responsible for
multiple bombings and murders during the height of apartheid (Gellhorn, Murrow, Mitford, Hersh,
and Schlosser 190). De Kock was a ruthless man who was associated with first hand kidnapping,
torture, and murder of known opponents of the government, just like the foot soldier role that the first
head of Brutus represents. By assigning a life like sentence to this head of Brutus Jane Taylor
highlights the reality of the court system at the end of apartheid, and helps to bring about a sense of
justice served upon the first head of Brutus. The second head of Brutus was described as being a high
member in the chain of command of the military. He was not one of the people out on the assaults that
took place, but rather was behind the scenes, helping
