This downward spiral ultimately led to Okonkwo's suicide to avoid being displayed as a coward after he was exiled from the tribe for seven years.

The founding of Israel has its roots in World War 2, when millions of Jews fled Germany to escape persecution by Hitler. After the war, the Zionist movement advocated for Jewish refugees to settle in Palestine. In 1947, the UN proposed partitioning Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. Israel declared independence in 1948, though this was met with hostility from surrounding Arab nations. Conflict has persisted between Israel and neighboring Arab countries ever since.

2. Maya Angelou Analysis
The Life of Maya Angelou
In the beginning of the sixteenth century, racism was something new that came about and through time
has affected a numerous amount of people in America. Not only has it impacted people s lives, but it
has created a stigma against other cultures. Maya Angelou the author of I Know Why the Caged Bird
Sings recounts what she went through in her life time and how she overcame racism through the
different surroundings she was exposed to, the use of polysyndetons, and the tone throughout the
novel.
To begin with, this story takes place in the 1930 s and 1940 s around the time the Great Depression
and World War II began. Maya the main character in the book, lived in the southern area of Stamps,
Arkansas with her grandmother and brother, Bailey, and uncle. While living in Stamps, the white
people of the town resent the black community and wanted no affiliation with them. The powerless
against the powerful, the poor against the rich, the worker against the worked for and the ragged
against the well dressed. (Angelou 25). The author s purpose for her choice of words was to express
without a filter the degree of racism exactly the way she experienced it in her life time. Maya notices
how in Stamps the black community was seen as second class citizens at best and how the whites
ruled the town. The white people in stamps treated them with very little respect they were judged by
the way they looked, dressed and acted. Around the time the blacks had to sacrifice a lot since the
paying was not so much they had to put so much dedication and hard work into their job and life to
become successful. The theme of racism is common throughout I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
because it displays how it felt to live during a time of segregation and the struggle it provided to prove
one s intelligence, beauty, and independence. The author claims that looks should not define people
and their success in life because no one should be judged by their culture and values.
In addition, Angelou used polysyndetons in I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings to portray how white
people viewed black society. It could all be true that we were dumb and lazy and dirty and unlucky
and worst of all that god himself hated us

Dracula, is most likely one of the most iconic monsters of the twentieth century, mostly as a blood

Stoker was a Irish immigrant to london who was fascinated by new technology and science but
heavily concerned with the jewish population arriving where he was and across Europe. Stoker in a

5. The problem of Free Will
In the following essay I will describe the problem of free will and explain several different responses
to the problem. These responses will be derived from the determinist, libertarian, and compatibilist
views. I will end the essay by arguing that the compatibilist view seems to best address the problem of
free will, but does not necessarily solve it. The problem of free will arises from two conflicting ideas.
The first idea is that people have free will. Having free will means that people have the ability to
choose and act on what they would like to do. Most people seem accept this idea easily and live their
lives believing that to some extent they are in control of the choices they make. If this idea is true then
people can be held responsible and subsequently praised or blamed for their choices or actions. For
example, a male student named Bob can be blamed for cheating if he chooses to use his notes while
taking his test even though the professor instructed his class to not use their notes. He can be blamed
for cheating because Bob chose to use his notes on his own and no one forced Bob to cheat. The
second of the two conflicting ideas that most people seem to readily accept is known as determinism.
Determinism is at odds with free will because it states that every event has a cause, meaning even the
choices that we make are not caused by ourselves (Conee and Sider 113). In other words, the cause of
something can be indefinitely traced backwards. Science seems to

6. The Cree Tribes Understanding Of Health Essay
The Cree tribes understanding of health is something very much different from what a
modern North American society would understand it as. This is because health is not a
universal entity, but it is a social reality constructed by different people using different social
meanings and symbols. Health can then be seen as a complex, dynamic process that can
incorporate religion in contrast to the baseline standard thought of health as a biomedical or
epidemiological practice. The Cree s practice of health is political in a sense where it acts as a
strategy for cultural assertion and resistance with a balance of power between the state, the
individual, and disenfranchised groups. The Cree s understanding of health cannot be seen
outside of colonialism. The forced displacement, pervasive racism, and failed attempts of
assimilation have set up a historical, cultural, and social context that subsists today. Health to
the Cree is identification, a realization of self that exists because of historical confrontations
that developed beliefs and practices over time. The term white man or waamstikuushiiu
represents how through history and even today, the constant oppression colonization has had
on the Cree s way of life. The Cree have given meaning to this idea of white man that is beyond
the universal meaning through the senses. Through changes and threats, each generation has
been able to learn, embody and envision ways of life and being Cree. The idea of health and

7. The Design Argument For The Existence Of God
ONE
The design argument for the existence of God follows the model: 1) In nature, things appear to work
together for a clear purpose. 2) The best explanation for these relationships is that God designed these
things. 3) Therefore, God exists, as he was the one who designed nature. This argument contends that
an intelligent designer of the world does exist, and structured the universe so that most natural things
fit together for a clear purpose. We can recognize that things in nature seem to be made for specific
reasons that are too fortunate to be accidental. For instance, we observe that giraffes have extremely
long necks and conveniently eat from the tops of trees. We can also identify that planet earth is just the
right distance from the sun and moon to sustain human life. If either of these things were less ideal,
there would be drastically worse outcomes for the giraffes and humans on earth. The harmony we
witness in nature compels the belief in an intelligent designer. Philosopher William Paley gives an
example supporting this argument using a natural rock and a watch. He argues that in a forest if
someone were to stumble upon a rock, they would not likely question why or how the rock came to be
there, for all they know it has been there forever. However, if in a forest someone was to stumble upon
a watch, they would likely wonder how and why this complex watch come to be in the forest. The
passerby questions the watch because it is obviously more elaborate

Polygamy continues to be frowned upon greatly in the United States despite the recent steps toward
legalizing different marriage arrangements and polygamy s attempt to go mainstream with television
shows that give the outside world an inside view of their lifestyle. In Tibet, however, polyandry (a
form of polygamy) has been a part of the culture for as long as anyone can remember and does not
seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. In the article, When Brothers Share a Wife by Melvyn C.
Goldstein, polyandry is explored in all aspects, including age, dynamics, and purpose.
The author begins by setting the stage with a single case where a man, Dorje, is set to marry a woman
who will also be marrying his two brothers, Pema and Sonam. This one case example is used
throughout the article to support various points on the subject. Goldstein moves right into defining
fraternal polyandry as a marriage of two or more brothers marrying one woman who then moves into
the family home. Like other cultures, this marriage is typically arranged with the persons who are
marrying having little to no say in the decision. The actual marriage ceremony differs depending on
income and location factors.
Goldstein then flows into the dynamics of authority and familial relations, as these are one of the first
topics people speculate about. It is shared that the oldest brother is typically the dominant brother but
everything from work to the wife is shared equally in all ways. The question of how the

10. Compare And Contrast Versions Of Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood is a European fairy tale about a young girl and the big bad wolf with origins
that can be traced back to the 17th century. There have been many different interpretations written of
the story. Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault and Little Red Cap by Brothers Grimm are just
two of the many contrasting renditions. The two tales are similar, but they are also different. The
variations of the story translate the same lesson to be learned at the end. Amongst various versions of
the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale authored by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm, the
interaction that the little girl has with the wolf symbolizes the expressional meaning to not judge a
book by its cover.
The little girl is the main character in each of the stories. She is recognized as the prettiest, most
lovable girl in the village. She is known as Little Red Riding Hood in Perrault s version. On the other
hand, she is referred to as Little Red Cap in Grimm s version. She acquired her name because of
always wearing her little red hood/cap all the time. The person who loved and adored her most of all
was her grandmother.
Grandmother lived deep in the woods in another village in both stories. Grandmother made a little red
hood for Little Red Riding Hood in Perrault s version. On the other hand, she made a little cap of red
velvet for Little Red Cap in Grimm s rendition. Grandmother is ill at home in bed in both stories.

without visible permanent deformation. This load requirement is applied at any point distributed over
50 millimeters from any direction. Also, if the guardrail is a flexible barrier such as chain or cable than
it should not deflect from the minimum force or 1,000 Newtons as well. This load is applied more
than 80 millimeters from the normal undeflected position of the flexible barrier. Also, the standards
state that fixed guardrails can be replaced by retractable guardrails or handrails or handholds to make
transporting from jobsite to jobsite easier (Standardization, 2011). These standards give the team a
specific set of dimension and load constraints for the design of a new guardrail. The dimensions of the
guardrail the team is designing shouldn t be much different than the current design. The team believes
the load requirement will be the biggest requirement to meet, since the current design is failing from
vibration loads. This set of standards states that the replacement of a fixed guardrail for a retractable
guardrail is allowed. This states that the purpose of the project follows the international standards; the
only difference is the project is called a collapsible guardrail. Expected Results/ Outcome
Expectations Determining how a project will turn out is somewhat puzzling when looking at the big
picture. When doing a project this extensive, it is key to have a detailed plan and good
communication. Without this, the project will more than likely fail.

Claudius manipulates Hamlet s words and carefully constructs his speeches in front of the people of
Denmark. Claudius recognizes that Hamlet is causing chaos within the kingdom, so in an attempt to
maintain order, he sends Hamlet off to England where it would be unfortunate if he died. Claudius, in
desperation, orders Hamlet to go to England where to thine own peace, his death [will be called an]
accident[al] tragedy (4.7.61 68). This action taken by Claudius causes more chaos, especially when
Hamlet finds out his plans to behead him. As a result, Hamlet changes the orders in the letter from
Claudius to where Claudius s helpers die instead. Another example, Polonius, a sponge of Claudius,
spies on Hamlet and Gertrude s conversation. As a result Hamlet stabs Polonius hiding behind the

According to the website Beale (2015) it states, If farmers can be helped to obtain simple
technologies, income can rise, and they can accumulate bank balances and collateral (p. 1). As shown,
you don t need all the high expensive technology to make a profit, all you need is something simple in
technology to change your yield productivity for the better. For many years farmers have dealt with
problems during plantations season whether it be droughts, insects, or other issues, but what if
technology could help you with that? GM traits, such as insect and herbicide tolerance, help to
increase yields by protecting the yield that would otherwise be lost due to insects or weeds (Do GM
crops increase Yield?, 2012, p.1). Thanks to recent help by technology, farmers have been able to
reduce this problem by using genetically modifying crops, allowing them to increase their yields
dramatically for the better. If it wasn t for all these extraordinary technological help that there is today
in the world of farming, it wouldn t be as easy or efficient for farmers, thus not allowing farming to be

The purpose of the police force is to protect and serve while upholding Constitutional human rights.
All police departments follow some code of honor that functionally swears them into oath that they
will enforce laws while assisting and protecting the general populace. This much can be said about all
police forces across the nation and of for the most part the world. That being said, there is no
exception in Aberdeen. Aberdeen s department is composed of 45 active officers and 4 reserve officers
along with 9 civilian employees. The mission statement that the department released to the population
of Aberdeen declares that they will provide fairness in their judgments to promote trust amongst the
community while demonstrating respect for each other and the general populous. Also, honesty and
integrity are to be maintained while demonstrating competence in the environment. In serving the
public they agree to regulate traffic abnormalities, investigate crimes, and provide escort services for
business, funerals and so forth. But that s not all, they respond to just about anything that is called in
or brought to their attention by any other means, in quite a literal sense they are servants of the people.

with its most important investment banking clients. In particular the bank wanted to improve business
with clients in the financial services industry. Parson was hired for his proven track record in this
domain, for his relationships with clients and for his energetic and entrepreneurial approach. Soon
after he was hired Parson started delivering results and played instrumental role in improving Morgan
Stanley s ranking and market share. He got first time business with several clients and increased

4. Resilience and Assertiveness The tough clientele in financial services domain demanded one to be
outgoing, aggressive to an extent and not someone who got bogged down easily. Parson personified all
these qualities.
5. Responsive Parson understood well the importance of being swift in your decision making when
serving tough customers like the banks. Although this made him overlook the company norms on
decision making, Parson s alacrity did help earn business for the firm.
6. Result oriented The faith expressed by Nasr in Parson was justified by the results that Parson
delivered. His proven track record in banking and financial services was further substantiated by his
single handed steering of the growth of MS from being rank tenth to rank second in the business.
As a person Rob Parson demonstrated the following interpersonal skills:
1. Client camaraderie Amongst his clients Parson was known as someone fun to be around. Not only
was he popular with them for his innovative methods and services, but as a companion too they found
him amusing and interesting, and seek his company whenever they were in town.
2. Transparent It is reported that within the firm Parson was always ready to share information with
his colleagues and kept them updated on the new ideas he was coming up with.

Integrative Paper: Comparing and contrasting the concepts of IKM and Kotter
1. Stage one: Establishing a Sense of Urgency in our fast paced world, things and environments
change rapidly. In order to meet the needs and demands of an ever changing marketplace,
organizations also need to change and adapt very quickly. With success hinging on the ability of the
institution to analyze, predict and adjust in order to meet the market demands and successfully cope
with rapidity of change (IKM, pg 7) establishing a sense of urgency as explained by Kotter would be
critical (Leading Change, pg 35). To influence anyone or any organization to move towards any type
of behavior requires the three critical factors of direction, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The example of Southwest Airlines and the success of founder, Herb Kelleher illustrates how
leadership being involved in all aspects of the organization and leading by example can drive an
organization to very high levels while the example of the California Electronics firm, though it
appeared they were doing everything right failed miserably and eventually went bankrupt (IKM, pgs
38 40). I believe the two types of individuals Kotter speaks of as killers of successful change are not
unlike many we have all worked with and around. While Kotter does a great job of bringing to light
something we probably all knew but had never really defined, Buss is bold enough to borderline
categorize these actions as misbehavior (IKM, pg 208). I have worked around many as Kotter
described, snakes and big egos and as I think about the outright damage caused by these personality
types Kotter could have gone farther in his assessment but he does advocate dealing with the problem
at an early stage vs. being relegated to curse ourselves later for not dealing with the issue (Leading
Change, pg 61). Based on my own personal observations while the snake is busy spreading rumors,
talking behind backs and perpetuating mistrust after the damage is done, the big ego loves to
constantly withhold valuable information cause crisis situations and fly in to save the day. In efforts to
build strong teams both texts discuss the need

21. The Indian Python
The Indian Python is an arboreal snake, commonly found slithering through the jungles, specifically
trees of the East Indies. Having the ability to grow to a length of about 20 feet, the Python Molurus is
no small predator, however, ironically, these massive creatures may not be so easy to be seen. As
snakes and reptiles are famous for being able to camouflage themselves, these Pythons are able to hide
in plain sight, and along with that are absolutely able to prey on creatures with ease. The Pythons
color patterns are along the lines of white and yellow with spotted patterns that range from certain tans
and grays to brown. These colors and patterns generally range and very from place to place depending
on where they live. Certain specimen from the of Western Ghats and Assam usually contain a darker
shade, while those living near the Deccan Plateau and East Coast typically contain lighter shades. The
Indian Python contains a very carnivorous diet which includes mammals, birds and reptiles arbitrarily,
but seem to favorite mammals. The Python moves so quickly slithering from head to tail and strike
with ready fangs. Most living prey is strangled by constriction and slain in that manner. It doesn t take
much of the Pythons strength in order to kill. The kill is usually unable to breathe, and at some point
submits to the snakes grip and is swallowed whole. Once a rather large meal is consumed, the snake is
rather not fond of moving, because if it is absolutely necessary to do

Was the foreign policy of the United States primarily isolationist or expansionist through 1865 1914?
At the turn of the century, and after gaining our independence, the United States land mass more than
doubled through the use of purchasing, annexing, and war. However, the foreign policy of our
government took a predominately isolationist stand. This was a national policy of abstaining from
political or economic relations with other countries. General Washington shaped these values by
upholding and encouraging the use of these principles by warning to avoid alliances in his farewell
speech. The reasoning behind these actions was that the Republic was a new nation. We did not have

Although the United States didn t have the authority or firepower to back this up, it resulted in almost
four decades of compulsory US involvement in any foreign affair. After the Civil War, Isolationistic
practices grew stronger as the government had to find a way to re unite the torn nation. President
Grover Cleveland promised to avoid committing the nation to form any alliances with other countries
while also opposed to the acquisition of new land. The climate of post Civil War US prevented us
from deep involvement in foreign affairs. Our navy was also weakened by the war. Our natural
resources were scarce and our diplomatic relations with other countries had been neglected. With the
attention of our government focused solely on our nation, we proceeded to develop our interior. One
of the biggest reasons for growth in US land mass was the public idea of Manifest Destiny. Americans
believed that it was the destiny of the United States to populate a huge, vast continent.
In the 1890 s, the Isolationist movement took a back seat and American foreign policy followed heavy
Expansionism. After the total expansion into the west, Americans perceived notion of Manifest
Destiny changed. They believed that since they were superior to other nations, their policy needed to
change from just territorial acquisition within its borders, to outside. The United States had to

25. The Punishment And Capital Punishment Essay
In the horizon, there are always heightened debates over issues with capital punishment in today
judicial system. Today thirty three states, along with the United Stated Government and U.S. military,
have the power to legally take away someone s life. Though it is very much illegal to take someone
life within society, our state and federal government s do the very same thing we are prohibited from
doing. The first section in this paper, will be discussing the reason on why our governments allow
capital punishment, relating to the deterrence of crimes such as murder. The deterrence of murder and
capital punishment seem to only work if you over exercise capital punishment. Such evidence
provided will show the difference in states that utilize capital punishment more than other states that
have not abolished the deterrence method. The second section will be discussing the retribution
relating to capital punishment. It also covers unanswered questions that relate to utilizing methods of
execution on innocent people. The last section covers the Eighth Amendment violation relating to
cruel and unusual punishment. It also discusses some of the botched executions that have been
conducted over the years.
Deterrence
Recent studies by sociologist suggest that capital punishment and/or the death penalty, does not deter
crimes such as murder . On the other hand, recent empirical studies conducted by economists suggest
that capital punishment does deter crimes such as murder

Pirates, Galleons and Treasure also shows pirate stories being romanticised when they speak about the
relationship of Anne Bonny and Calico Jack.
Within the documentary, Anne Bonny and Calico Jack are shown to be lovers and while that may be
true it is still not confirmed. The documentary presents this idea as a fact and even goes on to talk
about Bonny being the mother of his child, leaving out the fact that it is also speculated that Bonny
had slept with her jailors so it is not confirmed that it is his child (Konstam, 2011, p.166). Bonny s
father is said to have had a possible role in her escape (Konstam, 2011, p.185), instead of the claim
that no one knows at all where she could have gone in the documentary. Also in the video, Calico Jack
is said to be responsible for designing the skull and cross bone flag (Pirates, Galleons and Treasure,
2007), when the flag had been first been spotted in 1700 by a pirate named Wyn way before Calico
Jack (The Golden Age, 2016) and the only pirate to be known to fly a true skull and cross bone flag is
Edward England (Konstam, 2011, p.193). Essentially, Pirates, Galleons and Treasures does not seem

28. International Culture In Nigeria
A culture defined is the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or
social group according to Merriam Webster (2017). What does this mean to the average individual?
When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions to make. You
can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a very intriguing
place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly identical. Although this
may be true, it is always interesting to compare countries to America to realize how different our
culture compares to others. Nigeria (when compared to the United States) is a very different place
which could be a vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with that specific culture or
society. Nigeria is relatively small but has a population which surpasses Russia. This being said, in
Nigeria the average age is only 17.9 years old, in contrast, the United States and Russia have an
average age of 38 years old. Understanding culture awareness and its effect on the way humans live
can make an individual very successful when they find themselves in a foreign environments.
Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest nation in

30. Class And Class Struggle Essay
The concept of class and class struggle have existed ever since there have been the presence and
prevalence of the modes of production and commoditization. Individuals in the society are placed to
various levels of hierarchy, on the chronological order following the pattern of those who possess the
most commodities at the top most tiers followed by those who do not in the lower tiers.
Karl Marx brings to our understanding that he is not to be held responsible for or given merit for
discovering the existing classes in the modern society. He also asserts that he is not to be provided any
merit of identifying and highlighting the constant mutual struggle between theses classes in the
society. He rather gives emphasis to his contributions in proving that classes and its existence is
connected only to certain historical phases of development of production. He is also to be given
stature for highlighting the fact that The Class Struggle leads necessarily to the dictatorship of the
proletariat and that the dictatorship itself is only a transitional stage leading to the abolition of classes
and to a classless society... Marx hence regards classes and class struggles as a stage in the historical

31. Movie, Blade Runner, The City And People Are Very Similar...
In the movie, Blade Runner, the city and people are very similar. They are both very different and
mysterious. The characters are not very well explained at first so give that mystery feel to them. The
city is very dark and different that other normal cities which make the city also look mysterious. The
director did this to add depth to the film and have the unknown so you can interpret your own ideas
into the movie. The city and the people are all characters in a film. They are the parts of the film that
tell the story. The characters all play important roles. Without all of them the movie would not be the
same. It could have the same storyline but with different people and a different city it becomes a new
film. The city helps show the hidden meanings in movies that the characters don t say. If they did say
these things the city showed it would be a long boring movie. In books these meanings are normally
written but because there are no words in movies normally, the director must show these thoughts. He
will normally show this through the weather of the city or just they way the city is acting. The city
may be a busy city with cars running around everywhere or really quiet with no one on the streets. The
movie s characters and cities are both needed to create a scene that has depth and is interesting. If
neither of these are visible then the film could not have been written very well. Both the city and
people should be similar to have the film make sense.
