This document discusses the ecotourism industry. It begins by defining ecotourism as tourism directed towards natural environments to support conservation efforts and provide economic benefits to local communities while observing wildlife and providing an educational alternative. It then discusses the global growth of ecotourism over the past two decades and expectations for further rapid development. Both benefits and drawbacks of ecotourism are considered, such as economic revenue but also potential negative impacts from overtourism if natural areas are not properly managed and conserved.
THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

2. My Darling Clementine Essay
The use of mise en scene in John Ford s classic western is very important when it comes to conveying
the meanings and effects in My Darling Clementine . This essay will study the mise en scene of the
film, to explore the meaning of violence and the effects of civilization on the frontier.
The effects of civilization are very apparent in the film, as it seems that Ford has tried to explore the
juxtaposition of civilization and wilderness. Henry Ford s character, Wyatt Earp, an ex Marshall who
is herding cattle west to california with his brothers, acts as a kind of catalyst for the town s civility.
Whilst, himself, transitioning from a rugged western Cowboy to a Town Marshall who is considered a
pillar of the community. Earp, portrayed as the typical western protagonist, ... Show more content on

Earp stays in the town of Tombstone as a Marshall for personal gain, to avenge his brother, but
eventually becomes more and more civilized as the narrative progresses, navigating the grey area
between good and bad, and frontier wilderness and civilization. This idea of Earp being a transitional
character is represented in many ways via the mise en scene of the film. One of these ways is how
Wyatt Earp is often framed stood in doorways, if one side of the door represents the wilderness and
the other civilization, then to have Earp stood in the doorway may be representative of the middle
ground that he stands on as a transitional character. Ford also uses doorways throughout the film to
blur the lines of which side the wilderness is really on, when the Earp brother s first arrive in the town
of Tombstone, it is represented as wilder and more dangerous than the frontier. Earp asking himself
and others What kind of town is this? as chaos ensues, depicts Tombstone as not the average western
town. The first instance of this depiction comes at the very beginning of the film, with Wyatt Earp
meeting Old Man Clanton out in the frontier. We see the Earp brothers on

4. Digestive System Disorder
For my Anatomy and Physiology final I chose to research a digestive system disorder. I researched
different disorders and the most appealing disorder to me was the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease,
or most commonly known as GERD as well as Acid Reflux Disease. GERD is a common disorder
with more than 10 million Americans who have been diagnosed, including infants. GERD is a reflux
disease that is triggered by a weak lower esophageal sphincter. The lower esophageal sphincter, LES,
is located between the end of the esophagus and the stomach. A closed lower esophageal sphincter
prevents acid and bolus from returning to the esophagus. Those diagnosed with GERD experience a
weak lower esophageal sphincter, which can cause bolus and acid to travel up the esophagus, causing
a heart burning sensation. Overtime, a continuous exposure to the stomach acid and bolus can cause
the esophagus to erode, which may result in bleeding as well as breathing problems. A most common
symptom of GERD is heartburn that increases when bending over, stooping, lying down, and eating.
Other symptoms that can occur are nausea, hoarseness, laryngitis chronic dry cough, asthma, an
increase of saliva, earaches, as well as bad breath. Nausea is experienced when eating either too
quickly or eat an excess of food in a short amount of time. If your lower esophagus sphincter, or LES,
is too weak, an excess of food can cause a back up into the esophagus. The acid reflux can enter the
pharynx, the throat,

5. A Study of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act
FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE SURVILLANCE ACT This act was created in 1978. It proposes
methods for gaining judicial permission in order to carry out physical and technological search for a
person, who might be a terrorist threat for USA, on behalf of a foreign power. In 1970, a man named
Christopher H. Pyle discovered that the US army intelligence had hired 1500 officers whose job was
to spy on protest or public demonstration that involved more than 20 people. This shocking news
immediately captured the attention of Senator Sam Ervin, who was the chairman of a sub committee
of senate related to constitutional rights. Though Sam Ervin strongly condemned this act of US
intelligence but he had very little authority to take a step against it. It was due to brave men like
Christopher H. Pyle and Senator Sam Ervin that people came to know that how the government was
ignoring and violating the provisions to the constitution. This violation of rules and laws by the
government led towards the formulation of foreign intelligence surveillance act. The primary feature
of this act was as follows; the creation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court ( FISA Court )
which allows the executive branch to secretly obtain warrants for electronic surveillance but only with
strict judicial review Previously there were seven members of foreign intelligence surveillance act
court but now the number has been extended to eleven. All of these members are appointed by the

on a few effective teaching and learning strategies for teaching business studies to second language

Studies reveal that the negative effects of wrong beliefs about learning are significant (Sawir 2005).
However, it has also been suggested that it is possible to intervene in relation to beliefs about learning
(Sawir 2005). Hence a clear understanding of belief issues is of paramount importance for teachers.

The guidance of an ESL mentor can help a teacher understand his/her ESL students quickly and
prevent possible problems later in the year (Mittica 2003). The ESL mentor can also provide training
on accommodations and alternate forms of assessment.
The ESL mentor can assist the teacher to set achievable goals for ESL students at the beginning of the
semester. In teaching ESL students, success is not always measured on a report card. Therefore,
teachers have to be guided to observe his/her ESL students closely by focusing on issues such as the
progress demonstrated by the student over time and by observing to see if the student is more
comfortable participating in class and asking questions (Mittica 2003). Above all, ESL mentors can
provide a vision of students as capable individuals for whom limited English proficiency does not
signify a lack of academic skills and does not represent an incurable situation (Walqui, 1999 in
Mittica, 2003). ESL mentors can guide mainstream teachers in discovering his/her students strengths
and to celebrate multicultural education (Mittica 2003). By fully involving mainstream classroom
teachers in the education of ESL students, these students will be more likely to achieve success and
adjust to their lives in a new country (Mittica 2003).

9. My Passion For Cheerleading

Becoming a cheerleader at such a young age, being on the cheer mat became a happy place for me. I
spent thirteen out of my eighteen years of my life cheerleading and it is definitely something that
means a lot to me. Being on the cheer mat whether at practice or at competition has taught me many
life lessons that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Having such caring and dedicated coaches made
my experience so special and unique. My passion for cheerleading shows tremendously as soon as I
step on the mat, and learning many life lessons from cheer has shaped me into the person I am today.
In competitive cheerleading stunting is one of the most important things in a cheer routine. Stunting is
something every team wants to be the best at, but it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be the
best. Throughout a majority of my cheerleading career I was a base. A base is the girl at the bottom of
the partner stunt/pyramid who lifts up the flyer. I loved to base. I had lots of experience as a base and
it became very easy to me. Coming on to the high school competition cheer team as a freshman, I
knew there was a lot of new things I would have to learn as a base. I was very motivated and
dedicated to be the best base I could be and that took lots of practice. The next year, coming onto the
team as a sophomore my coaches had the idea for me to become a flyer. Flying is something I have

was also an instance where she skipped over the prefix of the word and only said the final syllable. At

Additionally, there would be no cap on the amount of vacations an employee is able to take. Typically,
the only requirement is to make sure colleagues are up to date on the employee s work and that the
employee s absence will not cause issues to the business in any way (Branson, 2014). The rationale
behind this is that employees will manage their own time well because it is in the best interest of their
careers to do so. This is different from a relatively more traditional Paid Time Off (PTO) policy, which
essentially groups vacation, sick, and personal days under the same umbrella while establishing a cap
on the overall time off (Sine, 2017). While PTO policies do not give employees as much freedom as
an unlimited vacation policy, it still touts the same general principles and may be a better option for
companies with more nonexempt employees or who are otherwise not ready to implement an

The Value of Learning Styles Learning styles and their value have been debated for some time.
Students may have a preferred style but this doesn t mean that educators should use just one form to

Many researchers believe that everyone has a preferred learning style and have developed a list of

M., 2013, p. 2). With all of these varying ideas on how to categorize students way of learning it
becomes difficult to know how to best accomplish teaching for a group of different learners. While it
would seem that students benefit from learning in their preferred style or type the reality is that there
may be more to this. The unfortunate truth is the studies that investigate teaching to the student s style
are for the most part flawed. The few that are not flawed show no benefit to teaching to the student s
style. (Guterl, S., 2013, p.2). Cognitive ability and the subject being taught may play more of a role in
the student s ability to learn and retain. The idea to cater to students strengths seems counter
productive. If a student struggles with visual learning, it may be advantageous to develop that
shortcoming. The goal of any education program is to leave with more knowledge. The idea of
stretching the abilities of students will only benefit them in the end. When a child is very little and
unable to walk we don t discourage them from developing the strength and coordination to walk, even
though there are other ways of moving around. We know that in time they will learn to walk and
eventually run. We encourage them to stretch their abilities and by that develop more abilities. The
same could be said of learning styles; by a student learning in a style that is less desirable they are
developing a new strength.

The sculptures Seated Couple, Vision of Lady Xoc, and Coyote Clan Kachina Doll, each represent
three distinct ancient cultures: the Dogon people of 18th and 19th century Mali, the Mayan culture
between 681 and 725 B.C.E, and the Zuni Pueblo Native American culture during the 19th century.
Each of these carved sculptures symbolizes truths universal to the human condition. The Seated
Couple symbolizes the universal family unit. The Vision of Lady Xoc symbolizes blood sacrifice for
venerated ancestors and preparation of warriors for battle. The Coyote Clan Kachina Doll symbolizes
the power of troublesome spirits.

The Seated Couple the cylindrical and mostly symmetrical figures not only depict the attributes of the
Dogon family life, but also the pairing of male and female spirits in Dogon mythology and the sexual
duality that Dogon s see as a spiritual component of every individual. (Ezra) The Vision of Lady Xoc
is a portion of the monument to Lady Xoc depicting her power and importance in Yaxchilán society.
The shedding of royal blood was an act of supreme sacrifice to gain the gods favor and thus perpetuate
the cycle of human life. (Kerr) Kachina dolls are used as a teaching device for children to cement the
tribal stories learned in the oral tradition of their tribes. The dolls and the kachina masks worn at
festivals are a reminder to the people of all that each Kachina represents.
Gender Roles are a significant theme in each of these sculptures. The Seated Couple depicts, men and
women working together as a unit, Dogon attitudes toward marriage as a partnership of independent
equals. This balanced duality is also a central tenet of Dogon mythology. ( Figure: Seated Couple )
The Vision of Xoc shows that in royal Maya courts, women filled important civic and religious roles
denied to most women in many Mesoamerican cultures. (Martin and Grube) The Zuni prized those
who were good at both traditional male and female roles and those who produce the crafts of both
genders.

15. Mathematics and its Relation with Music and its Harmonics
Ever since c. 17th century, musical compositions have manipulated the standard aspects of music,
which include rhythm and melody. More importantly, many musical compositions have incorporated
complex math within, for examples again, melodies and rhythms that create a uniqueness that has yet
to be perfectly matched by other composers. One other key aspect of music in general, harmony, is
where a fairly complex mathematical formula is involved: the harmonic mean. Because harmony is a
major component of music, it is no surprise that this harmonic mean can be applied to nearly all types
of music. Basically, a harmonic mean as it applies to music ~is any possible division between an
original note and the octave of that note that produces a different note. With that, there is a sequence in
the divisions between a note and its octave that is not very consistent in distance from the original
note. One instrument in particular that can demonstrate this type of mean is the vioiin because of the
harmonic tones produced whenever a finger is pressed on a string. At certain points on a string.
different notes are produced by the harmonics of the upper and iower naives of the string, which
would be examples of harmonic means.
The diagram above is of a D string on a violin from the beginning of the neck where the string first
crosses the neck to where the string touches the bridge. The halfway notation marks the most

death for Volusia County since 2006, with heart disease at a close second. The county s age related
death rate from cancer is 182.3 per 100,000 people as compared to the state s total of 160.4, and the
national average of 179.1 (Fl Dept of Health). Volusia also has a greater rate of adolescent cigarette
smokers, the state average being 6.1%, and Volusia County being 8.3%. Volusia County s adult
smoker population also is greater than the state average, 23.3 vs. 17.2. Volusia residents suffer from
heart disease greater than most other Florida counties. In 2012 there were 112.7 deaths per 100,000
people as apposed to the state total of 103.5 and the national total of 179.1. Another concern is with
the growing obesity population in which comes with it increased risk for hypertension, heart disease,
and many other diseases. Both the county and state totals are approximately 82% higher than the
national rate. A group of Volusia County residents, called Healthy Volusia, has made the problem with
obesity a top priority (Dept of Health).
Access to Healthcare 496,950 people reside in Volusia County (2012). Out of the 67 Florida counties,
Volusia ranks 23rd in clinical care. Volusia residents have access to many hospitals and clinics and that
number is growing quickly. As of 2005 there were 1016.010 general practitioners per 100,000 people.

17. Acting With Integrity And Fairness Essay
Professional Growth Plan #3 Final Reflective Essay
Acting with Integrity and Fairness and in Ethical Manner ELCC (Educational Leadership Constituent
Council) Standard 5 defines and describes Acting with Integrity and Fairness and in Ethical Manner as
A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students and staff by
acting with integrity and fairness and in an ethical manner . The administrator treats people fairly,
equitably, and with dignity and respect. The leader protects the rights and confidentiality of the
students and staff. The educational leader also demonstrates appreciation for sensitivity to diversity.
With the help of the school supervisor, I have developed two goals for this project, and they are: 1.The
student intern will learn about the due process procedures for student discipline, and 2.The student
intern will review the current administration of student discipline and attendance policies.
Administrators come across situations every day that demand due process. As an instructional leader,
the principal should treat everyone fairly and procedurally. I have examined the laws of Due Process
and their application at Palmetto School. This project benefitted me in learning about the due process
procedures for student discipline and create a guide to assist the staff in understanding due process. As
part of my evaluation, I have interviewed the assistant principal, character coach, a regular education

The Use of Images in William Carlos Williams , The Young Housewife
As is typical of most Modernist poetry, William Carlos Williams uses very specific images in The
Young Housewife to reveal not merely a particular circumstance or event, but to also suggest
underlying themes and ideas of his subject matter. For example, he gives to the reader various real and
imagined images, such her moving about in negligee behind closed doors, or her going about her daily
affairs, that are at once very seductive and suggestive of ideas that supercede their appearances. These
images especially accentuate the young housewife s naturalness and beauty. However, they are quickly
contrasted by a comparison drawn by Williams of the young lady to a ... Show more content on

If the leaves are separated from the tree, they quickly lose their color and texture, drying up until they
are brown and brittle, and die.
Taking this into consideration, we can now move on to what we know about Williams young
housewife. Truthfully, very little is mentioned about her except, of course, her relative age and her
marital status (for some reason these two things just seem to jump out of the text). It is very clear,
however, that Williams does not limit the young housewife to these two aspects of her life, but also
emphasizes other aspects in particular her natural beauty and sexuality, and her separation and
isolation from the outside world.
It is evident that The Young Housewife is a very sexually charged poem. Through its subject matter,
its language, its imagery, and even its use of phrasing, Williams accentuates the young housewife s
seductive and almost unrestrained nature. For instance, He describes her moving about behind closed
doors, dressed in negligee, or going to the curb un corseted to call ice man, or allowing her hair to
hang freely, only periodically tucking it in. All of these images suggest strongly that the young
housewife is a natural and unrestrained character. She is free any imposed social constraints that has
the power to squelch her pristine and almost wild nature.
This sense of unrestraint of the young housewife, however, is purely essential, and not actual or

The dueling religious ideologies seen in Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice serve as the
cornerstones not only of the character s arguments during the trial at the end of the play, but of the
definitions of the character s own self perceptions. Shylock, the play s villain and the most prominent
of the play s three Jewish characters, employs his religious identity in defining his conception of
masculinity, connecting his perception of what it means to be male with his profession, which he is
allowed to practice due to the tenants of his Jewish faith. This economically defined perception of his
own masculinity becomes Shylock s undoing, as the play shows the slow decline of his economic
fortune, which comes to represent a kind of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within his own home as well, Shylock s masculinity and his position as the head of the household are
again defined through his economic dominion over those in his service. His daughter, Jessica, is
unmarried and therefore still the economic responsibility of her father, playing not only into Shylock s
economic, but also his blood dominion over his only daughter. Isolated from the greater Venetian
society by her Jewish faith, Jessica is further isolated by her father s drive to assert his masculinity
through his control of her. In Act 2, Scene 5, Shylock demands that Jessica lock up my doors (2.5.30),
and not let the sound of shallow foppery enter/My sober house (2.5.36 7). He treats he no better than
he does Lancelot, ordering her as a master would his servants and in terms seemingly devoid of all
fatherly affection. While Shylock bolsters his own masculinity through these act of fatherly
domination of his daughter, he is unaware that Jessica is plotting a means by which she can
emasculate her father and escape his influence once and for all. While the verdict of the trial serves as
the final blow to Shylock s masculinity, with Antonio s request that he be forcibly converted to
Christianity serving as the actual act of castration, the process begins much

class assignment will consist of ten questions that are easy to answer if the student was attending to
what the professor was saying. All students will require a laptop or paper notebook to take notes on.
The classrooms necessary will be smaller rooms with a maximum of 40 seats per room. This small
size is necessary so the research assistants can ensure each student is using the correct method.
Additionally, one experimental condition will require the use of the app StayFocusd from Transfusion
Media (2010) which allows its users to temporarily block access to user specified apps for a
designated amount of time. This experiment will require the use of four research assistants. Two of
these assistants will be placed in the classroom to ensure students are using the appropriate method.
The remaining two research assistants will be in the lab processing and configuring the data for the
results of the experiment. Different researchers will be used to compute the data than those who are in
the classrooms to eliminate any chance of experimenter bias. Lastly, the professors will be designing

In this essay, I will be analyzing Dreamland by Sarah Dessen for feminist themes. Sarah Dessen is not
a self proclaimed feminist, but this book does have topics that relate strongly to feminism. It is a book
about intimate partner violence, family dynamics, and a girl s journey to self discovery. It starts out as
a typically books where a female meets a bad boy , but things soon take a dangerous turn. It shows
how power and control in relationships can be very unhealthy, and also focuses the blame on the
perpetrator, instead of the victim like many other books fall in the trap of. The book also, like most,
has some downfalls, most clearly is the lack of diversity within the characters. While this book might

seemed to imply that their marriage was very much like that before Cass ran away, but once she did
things changed. Caitlin s mother was not focused on Caitlin at all, instead searching continuously for
Cass while ignoring the house and Caitlin. Caitlin s father expressed more interest in Caitlin s
whereabouts, but mostly focused on the mother and trying to help her. The relationship between
Rogerson and Caitlin started out strangely. They met at a party, where she was expected to hang out
with her cheerleader friends and flirt with football players. However when she saw drug dealer
Rogerson, she knew that being with him would change the course of her life, because it was
completely new territory, something that her sister Cass would never of done. In the beginning, the

love, but the betrayal of love. Two sisters, Dido and Anna, both feel betrayed respectively. Dido feels
betrayed by the man she loves, Aeneas, when he leaves her for Italy and also Anna by the untimely
death of her sister. While these sisters feel this betrayal by a person they loved, Anna is the more
justified in her feeling of betrayal because of the love she had for her sister and had right reasoning for
her betrayal. The bond that these two sisters had is one reason for Anna s justification. The bond of

While Dido was betrayed by the man she loved, she believed that they were married. Dido and Aeneas
did engage in the marital act while stuck in a cave one night, but they never actually married. One of
Dido s main reasons for feeling betrayed was because she saw Aeneas leaving as her husband
divorcing her when she asks Aeneas Nec te noster amor ne te data dextera quondam?... Cui me
moribundam deseris hospes , meaning, Will my love not hold you, nor the right hand I once gave

Dido did love Aeneas, she does not have the right justification for feeling betrayed that her husband is
leaving her, because they were never married. Anna had right reasoning for her betrayal because she
had been doing something Dido wanted her to do, build a funeral pyre. Dido, however, did not tell
Anna that she would never see her sister again and also that she was assisting in her own sister s

Racism is a global problem where societies subject individuals with certain attributes that are judged
as inferior or superior to special treatment [3]. Although its prevalence is waning off, this problem is
very old. It would also be quite difficult to eradicate racism from our societies completely. This is due
to the obvious variations in people s religion, color, geographic location, culture and economic factors
such as social class [3]. Whereas eradication of racism might sound impossible, the society can make
enormous achievement in curbing its influence on most of the world s communities.
Moises Kaufman along with the Tectonic Theatre Project produced a play The Laramie Project

The aftermath of the incidence in Texas increased publicity regarding the rights of both African and
white individuals. Citizens of American, irrespective of their color have a right to live anywhere in the
country and to exercise their liberty of interaction [1]. Differences in cultural values, perceptions and
life priorities make it difficult for many communities to fight hatred and violence between their
people. The media s participation raised awareness on how people from the two groups perceive each

communities to induce a perception within its members that would make them embrace unity and

Feminism is defined as the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes. Now the
question of if I would consider myself a feminist, I would have to answer no. I would describe myself
as a free thinking independent woman and do not want to be labeled under the word feminist. I don t

He notices how the animals have some freedom to roam around. He then immediately changes his

research to find out the stuff the farmers used for crops were bad for the environment around the farm.
The chemicals would runoff to water systems around them and kill the fish. He continued to do more

36. Descriptive Essay About A New Home
A New Home
It was 5 on a chilly October morning, the sky was still dark, and the silence was peaceful. There was a
few people on the road crossing into Juarez was what took the longest. After waiting in line for what
felt like an eternity I weighed my bags and passed through security, I was handed a ticket with a
destination to Mexico City. After 3 hours of being on an airplane, I could see the ground, tiny streets
filled with people and cars everywhere I looked, huge buildings of every color, and a golden angel that
stood in the sky in the middle of the city. I had finally arrived to Mexico City, without knowing how
long I would live there or if I would ever leave.
You re going to love Mexico City I can t wait to show you the place where I grew up, said my father
on the drive to the airport. He was enthusiastic his eyes looked like bright stars from the excitement he
had. I wasn t very excited about the move, but hid my emotions behind a smile. Months prior my
parents had a business idea in mind, since my father was born in Mexico City, he wanted to go back to
his hometown and work there. He wanted to experience life as it was for him before he came to the
United States, and fulfill a lifelong dream that he had to open his own business. He was convinced that
opening an English school in the heart of Mexico was a great idea, and that having Americans teach
the classes would be a great opportunity for the people of the city. My mother and I weren t as excited
as he was, my

37. Charles Dickens Hard Times For These Times
Fancy is a noun. It means the power of the mind to imagine things. Do not think about it; do not think
about thinking about it. Just memorize it. Can you? There is only one right path that society has
pinned you on. Like a toy car on a wooden train track, you are expected to complete the course
without straying from it. If you do, you are considered broken. Yet, what exactly is the point of
mindlessly walking the same path as everyone else, only to constantly find yourself memorizing
empty facts over and over again? In Hard Times for these Times, Charles Dickens embodies the
consequences of an absolutely factual world: blindness, imbalance, and nonfulfillment. Through the
convoluted stories of the opposite worlds, Sissy s journey to becoming a jewel of balance, Louisa s
tragic fight for fulfillment, and the harmonious character Sleary, Dickens defines the urgency for the
proportional combination of fact and fancy.
Gradgrind s education system is structured to plucking imagination and emotions out of the lives of
children, resulting in dangerous, machine like human beings. He closed mindedly abides to rules and
facts; dreams and abstractness is a crime. For example, Bounderby, Gradgrind s subordinate, insists
that his workers expect to be fed on turtle soup and vension, with a golden spoon (72), while on the
other hand, the workers believe that they are unfairly treated like dumb objects. Both Bounderby and
the workers think their opinion is the fact, but it shrivels

PTEN can be expressed in bacteria such as E.coli or in mammalian cell culture such as human
embryonal kidney HEK 293. Accordingly, there are advantages and disadvantages associated with
each expression system. For bacterial expression system, they have the benefits of the fast growth,
lower cost, and well understood genome and proteome system. However, the bacterial expression
system express unfunctional protein that lack the proper folding beside that there is a risk of
contaminate the desire protein by lipopolysaccharide (endotoxin). On the other hand, mammalian
expression system has the pros of given a proper fold protein since there are appropriate post
translation modification, and they have a higher capacity to produced secreted proteins. Conversely,
the disadvantage of using mammalian expression system are the slow growth, higher cost, difficult
optimization of media, and very low yield of the desire protein [4,8 and 10].
In bacteria, such as E. coli, operon codes include the expression of three separate enzymes needed for
lactose metabolism. Prior to the operon a regulatory gene continually makes repressor proteins that
bind with the operator thus restrain the transcription of the operon. Indeed, the system remains off
until lactose molecules bind to the repressors and prevents their attachment to the operator. Once the
operator is free, the transcription of the enzymes continues until there are no enough lactose molecules
to interact

39. The Future Of The Us Dollar
The Future of the US Dollar in the International Market A society based on trade was established as
early as 4000 B.C.E. (Hunt 6). However, the end of the Cold War marked the beginning of a new
stage, an economy fully supported by globalization (Gilpin 10 12). This new beginning for the
economy made the international markets the central focus of the economy. Since the gold standard had
crushed, the US dollar became the official exchange standard and also the most used currency in the
world. Currently, its status of international currency remains the same, but the international market has
changed so much that there are factors that leave its future uncertain. The role of the US dollar as an
international currency is at risk because of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This decrease can be due to the economic problems that the United States faced during the decade of
the 2000 s, the Financial Market Crisis, and is still battling to recover from, or due to the increase of
power and popularity of other countries and their currencies, such as the countries that make up the
European Union (Goldberg). The concept of the world money is organically linked to an
understanding of the world market as the fundamental framework of global capitalism where profit
rates are equalized and an average world market rate of profit is established (Ivanova 51 52). The
world market became the main focus of the world s super power countries as well as developing
countries. As Karl Marx s theory of money establishes, money is not only a measure of value or a
medium of change, when it becomes world money, it becomes the absolute social materialization of
wealth as such (universal wealth) (qtd. in Ivanova 51). One of the main characteristics of world money
that applies to the US dollar today is that it is a dominant currency in international financial markets
that is also used hand to hand in foreign countries (Auboin). Bitcoin was created in 2009 as an
international currency to make digital transactions easier and faster(Yellin). This computerized money
exists only as strings of digital code ( A New Specie ). This currency is used without intermediaries

40. TU Vs TCC
After highschool I intend on attending college. I m interested in the University of Tulsa (TU) and
Tulsa Community College (TCC) as viable options for my college career. These colleges interest me
because of their location, financial options, and academics. TU offers excellent engineering programs
which is one reason I am leaning towards TU. On the other hand, TCC has the right price. Both of my
college options have rich and intriguing histories. The TU website article History and traditions claims
that a boarding School in Muskogee, Indian Territory became the Henry Kendall College. Kendall
College came to Tulsa in 1907. In 1926 all the paperwork was completed to combine Kendall College
and McFarlin College to make TU. The TCC website article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

many more. which I interpret as them having scholarships for all types of individuals. I feel that TU s
financial aid opportunities are more focused towards students with excellent academics. In contrast,
TCC s scholarships are more focused towards any individual that has the want to attend college. Both
colleges also have student loan programs. Another thing both colleges have is a work study

41. Analysis Of Sylvia s The Night
Heat beating out for her chest Sylvia was running for her life. Her feet pounded on the ground as she
sprinted down the alleyway. Sylvia was trying to escape the darkshadow fast in pursuit when she
suddenly lost her footing on Thai place s trash. She hit the dingy pavement and turned to her pursuer.
The dark shadowy figures loomed over her.
Friday the 13th started out like any other Friday morning. Sylvia dragged herself out bed with the little
comfort knowing that it was finally Friday. The weekend would soon be at hand and she could leave
behind the struggles of school. She got dressed, putting on her favorite pair of dark blue jeans with a
simple black tee. Sylvia pulled back her long silvery hair into a rushed french braid. Then, as ... Show

Oh come on ,lighten up, it s Friday and the weekend will soon be at hand, said Nate jumping around

We won t be going anywhere if we don t make it to first period, Rosalie said, grabbing Sylvia by the

First period was a utter drag per usual, Mr. Brimbin could put anyone to sleep why he dragged on

it was lunch and she was on her way to hang out with her friends in one of the less traveled hallways.
They all never much liked the lunchroom, so at lunch they took refuge in the hallway behind the stage.
People never came down this way unless there was an upcoming show. Sylvia made it to the hallway
first and decided to make herself comfortable. Putting her bag down on the laminate flooring, she

42. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Federalism In The Philippines
A leap forward for the Philippines under the federal system of government or a step back
The aim of this paper is to show the positive and the negative aspect of federalism in the Philippines if
ever we are going to adopt this form of government. The seminar that I attended last January at
Benguet State University tackled about the positive changes that federalism might bring to the
Philippines if ever we choose to adopt this form of government yet we all know that a coin has two
sides. First we will be discussing the form of government in the Philippines and how did we are

43. Examples Of Beowulf s Heroic Deeds
Mihaela Majetić
Professor Borislav Berić
LIT 301
27 October 2014
Thrice heroic deed of a hero indeed Almost every society has at some point in its history praised
someone as a hero, sometimes rightfully and sometimes not. Being a hero is not only about being
strong and courageous, but it is also about having other innate qualities that differ heroes from
ordinary human beings. In Old English Beowulf hero is Beowulf himself, the main character with
large number of these traits demonstrated and proven during his heroic acts of saving ordinary human
beings and their communities from greater monstrous evil not once, not twice, but thrice. Beowulf s
heroic deeds and traits certainly are magnificent and undeniable, but he is lacking few of the ... Show

44. The Field Of Ecology And Diversity
Ecology and diversity both focus on the measurable properties of size, types, importance, disparity,
and unevenness. In the field of ecology, the understanding of diversity sophisticates with a
quantitative linguist viewing diversity as a statistical analysis. Whereas, an ecologist state s diversity
as numbered species (Jarvis, 2013). In ecology, all relationship are inversely related to diversity
(Finkel, Early, Fuller, 1998). Identifying a population is a significant step in developing a definition of
diversity and ecology. In this contribution to the definitions of ecology and diversity, Spellman and
Whiting (2007) claims that ecology constitutes an interrelationship of an organism with its
environment. The growth of these organisms may follow changes such that the population diversifies
into other measured organisms. Moreover, diversity is respective to a framework of attaining a
multicultural population of schools. The school s population prospers due to the implementation of
diverse academic disciplines and other aspects of the curriculum (Rodman, 2010). Ecology Haeckel, a
German biologist, used the term oecologie , an older spelling ecology which gives the meaning:
management of a household or management of a world of living things (Ecology, 2009). Karl Marx
contended ecology as a metabolism to social interactions with nature, explaining that there is a
necessary metabolic interaction

45. Japan s Experience Of Defeat And Occupation At The End Of...
Japan s experience of defeat and occupation at the end of the Second World War has most commonly
been examined from the point of view of the conquerors. It has rarely been tackled as a Japanese
experience. John Dower attempts to understand the hopes, visions and dreams of the defeated
Japanese as they sought to remake their identity and values in the after the war. Dower examines an
array of responses from the Japanese perspective to find out how they are feeling after the war. Dower
places the Japanese against the background of an American Occupation which was at once high
minded and visionary, arrogant and imperialist. Dower tackles this theme through two narratives. The
first is a dense socio cultural history, focused on the first two ... Show more content on

Secondly as an observer, he maintains a deep sympathy for his subjects while still preserving an
appropriately sharp and critical moral sense as he navigates through their stories. Dower s cultural
history begins with the anguish of physically and materially shattered lives at war s end. The shock,
devastation, exhaustion and despair are listed to provide the reader a detailed narration of the events.
The depth of loss and confusion which the Japanese people experienced is vividly conveyed, notably
in Dower s accounts of the huge scale of social displacement and missing persons, and the long drawn
out period of food droughts. Against this background of economic and social misery, however, Dower
is also concerned to locate the effects of defeat on the Japanese people. Even in the pits of despair,
people were reshaping their future identity and discovering new aspirations. Dower tackles this at
three levels. First, he investigates the subcultures of defeat. The world of prostitution under the
Occupation, for example was simultaneously an area of sexual exploitation and a channel for the
growth of interracial affection and the undermining of old racial stereotypes. It was a symbol of
national shame and a conduit for new American values of luxury, and materialism that were eagerly
embraced. Likewise, the black markets were both explosions of entrepreneurial energy and a site for
violent criminal gangs. And a new urban demimonde
