The Causes Of Fascism
Fascism is a widely debated topic, many theories are proposed regarding its origins, its appeal, the
support it gained from big business and the cooperation it received from the Catholic Church. What I
believe to be an inalienable truth is that early signs of fascism are firmly rooted in the First World War.
To argue that the First World War caused fascism however is debatable, I will hold the belief that the
First World War was a catalyst for fascism, that fascism as Roger Eatwell puts was embryonic rather
than fully formed (R. Eatwell, Fascism: A History) and that the war created a unique environment and
opportunity for the nurturing and growth of fascist ideologies. I will discuss what I believe to be the
most potent factors that pushed the growth of fascism, the economic crisis of the 1920s and the
subsequent weakening of western liberal democracies, the discontentment and chagrin of the Italian
and German public towards victory and defeat respectively and most importantly, the threat of
Communism and its political manipulation.
Hobsbawm argues that, fascism did not exist before 1919 (Hobsbawm, Age of Extremes). This paper
follows that belief and it allows us to pull our focus towards the time directly post war. It is in this
time that I will argue that the seeds of fascism were planted and that the unstable socio economic
landscape of Europe resulted in volatile nationalist politics in the 1920s and allowed for the resultant
fascism to take root and to grow at an

Female Role In Modern Philosophy
The era of modern philosophy, with a special canalization period during the 18th and 19th centuries,
was a time of flourishing activity in terms of philosophical importance. Whether we re speaking with
relation to Cartesianism, the moral and political philosophy of Nietzsche, or another male during the
period, their philosophical ideologies still remain present and of use in multiple presentations from
bioethics to law. Transgressing beyond the grave, the impacts of these few still conquer, but what
about the ideologies of the nameless? Continually ignored within the narrative, one primary
demographic of philosophers during the era of modern philosophy that is commonly ignored is that of
women. Although the importance of female impact on modern philosophy is quantified as minuscule,
the females of this era had achievements and impacts on the ideologies of their predecessors and
deserve recognition. Of the primary accomplishments of females within modern philosophy, three
main emphases reign most important to modernity and those are as follows: Elisabeth of the Palatinate
s influence of Cartesian dualism and Anne Viscountess Conway s impact on the philosophy of
Gottfried Leibniz. At a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the similar substance of both mind and matter, Conway suggested they only differed as to
mode and that distinctions made between the attributes of matter as impenetrable and extended, and

The vitalist nature of Conway s philosophical thought was an influential reaction against the ideology
of mechanists, and although her monistic viewpoint was more giving than the dualistic nature of
Cartesianism, it was expelled as a basic reduction of all of reality to the idealist category of spirt

Therefore, a current solution would unite the characteristics of the hydrogen internal combustion
engine, using for improving the burning efficiency, due to high flame speed and higher calorific value
during combustion of hydrogen. One of the best utilization alternatives of this clean energy, existing in
the hydrogen, would be through the process of electrolysis of water as it is a relatively simple process
without generated solid, liquid or gas waste which would be harmful to the environment. Furthermore
it helps in the reducing of the consumption of fossil fuels. According to Al Rousan (2010), the HHO

The Twilight Zone Analysis
Rod Serling s The Twilight Zone, reflected the time it was created and the years that followed.
Showcasing the not so black and white version of humanity and all that it entailed. Touching on the
effects of the Cold War and the insecurities it brought to American society. Through this outlet in
television, he was allowed to express his thoughts on the outlook that people were too afraid to speak
about, lest being called out as a traitor or a communist. Almost, blatantly disagreeing with the
McCarthyism if not exposing the idea of how ridiculous it was to question if your neighbor was
patriotic or not. Rod brought up the anguish and blatantly obvious scenarios that would precede
mutually assured destruction. The show s debut and following success ... Show more content on

Examples Of Inhumane In Night By Elie Wiesel
Shocking. Frightening. Inhumane. The novel Night, written by Elie Weisel, tells the story about Eli
and his father treacherous days in hell. They belived in God from the very beginning, and had faith in
Him until they went to the concentration camps. During through the Holocaust, their faith in God
became less faithful than ever before. After all the suffering Eli has been through, he ends up not
believing in God. Eli believed in God and wanted to learn more religions, but after going to the
concentration camp seeing a boy getting hanged and see the Jews suffering, he starts not believing in
God. At the Sighet, Eli wants to learn more religions about God so he can understand God s ways. At
Sighet, Eli studied different religions during the day and at night he would go to the synagogue to
weep and pray. He had a friend named Moishe the Beadle who taught him Zohar every day. One day

Picture Bride Essay
Immigrants arriving in America for their first time are initially devastated at their new lives and realize
their golden lives were simply fantasies and dreams of an ideal life in America. Immigrants from
foreign countries, including those mentioned in Uchida s Picture Bride, faced countless problems and
hardships, including a sense of disillusionment and disappointment. Furthermore, immigrants and
picture brides faced racial discrimination not only from white men, but the United States government,
as well. Immigrants were plagued with economic hardships lived in deplorable living conditions.
Though nearly every immigrant and picture bride who came to America fantasized about an ideal life,
they were faced with countless hardships and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was drab and dirty and smelled of stale food...[one] would expect something a bit finer (Uchida,
34). Hana becomes disheartened as her visions were shattered by reality and a sense of betrayal from
her husband s lies. She, like many picture brides and immigrants, expected too much of a new life, and
when she discovers the way things really are, she feels deceived and dismayed. Accepting the truth
and the reality of their new lives is a part of an immigrant s experience in moving to America and is a
crucial part in shaping their attitudes in their new lives.
Once an immigrant becomes situated with their new life styles, the foreign immigrants are introduced
to a sense of hatred and discrimination omnipresent in society. Many Americans and white men were
not welcoming towards alien immigrants and expressed a great deal of discrimination and hatred.
Immigrants and their families realized they had to learn to accept this hatred if they wanted to live in
America, and eventually taught themselves to be tolerant towards discrimination, without knowing a
motif behind a white man s disgust towards immigrants. Hana was able to accept the discrimination
and eventually passed down her tolerance and acceptance down to, her daughter, Mary, who learn to
submit to a white man s intolerance. Mary became aware that her Japanese face denied her certain

World War 1 Research Paper
World War I, which lasted from 1914 to 1918, was one of the bloodiest wars in the history of the
world, its horrors surpassed only by World War II. The start of the war can be traced back to the
assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungary in June 1918 by Gavrilo Princip, a
member of a Bosnian Serb rebel group wishing to liberate ethnically Serbian parts of Bosnia from the
Austro Hungarian Empire and integrate them with the neighboring Kingdom of Serbia. The
assassination led to a cascade of events which ended in full scale conflict in Europe and other parts of
the world between the Allied Powers, consisting of most notably France, the United Kingdom, Russia,
Japan, Italy and later in the war, the United States, and the Central Powers: Germany, Austria Hungary
and the Ottoman Empire. The war ended four years later with the defeat of the Central Powers. The
Treaty of Versailles drafted in 1919, was one of the numerous attempts by the Allied Powers to
achieve revenge on Germany and dismantle its economy. The treaty caused great unrest in Germany
and dissatisfaction with the nascent postwar German government, the Weimar Republic. The unrest
and dissatisfaction led to the rise of the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP or Nazi
Party) and its intent to destroy and replace the Weimar Republic. The aftermath of World War I,
including the treatment of Germans by the Allied Powers through the Treaty of Versailles led to a rise
in radical German nationalism

Antononia s Personality Of Antonia By Willa Cather
Option 4 Activity 1.
I think that Willa Cather admired Antonia s personality because of her strong loyal spirit. Although she
was challenged in many ways, she never backed down from a fight. Her father s death, her pregnancy
and abandonment, and her situation at the Harlings were only temporary setbacks in her life. She
thrived in anyway she could.
Even though Antonia is headstrong and high spirited, Cather seems to admire this about her. I was
thinking, as I watched her, how little it mattered about her teeth, for instance. I know so many women
who have kept all the things that she had lost, but whose inner glow has faded. Whatever else was
gone, Antonia had not lost the fire of life. Even after Cather compares Antonia s impulsiveness to the
anxiousness of Jim, Antonia always seems to come out on top. Despite Antonia challenging him in
every turn, Jim admires these qualities about Antonia. I d have liked to have you for a sweetheart, or a
wife, or my mother or my sister anything a woman can be to a man. The idea of you is part of my
mind; you influence my likes and dislikes, all my tastes, hundreds of times when I don t realize it. You
really are a part of me. But at the same time he knows that they can be reckless. Although Jim is afraid
to take risks, Antonia is not.

A Lost City Found Among The Coral Reefs Of The Pacific
A lost city found among the coral reefs of the Pacific, Nan Mandol is now ruins adjacent to the eastern
shore of the island of Pohnpei that once was the capital of the Saudeleur Dynasty until 1628 (Ayres et
al. 1992). Recently, a research group from the Southern Methodist University led by Mark D. McCoy
found the earliest direct evidence of monument building at Nan Madol (McCoy et al. 2016). This is a
significant discovery that pushes back the initial age of dynasty in the Pacific over 100 years, and
provides anthropologist a new way to study the evolution of society. Before this discovery, scientists
had set the date for the first dynasty in the Pacific to around 1300 CE. McCoy et al. (2016) stated, The

The age they established was 1180 CE, over 100 years earlier than was previously assumed. The
reason for its enhanced effectiveness is based around measuring the basalt samples carbon 14 content,
and comparing it with the carbon 14 activity in modern and background samples. We report the
earliest secure dates on the construction of monumental architecture in the remote islands of the
Pacific located at the site of Nan Madol on Pohnpei Island in Eastern Micronesia. High precision
uranium series dating of coral from the tomb of the Saudeleur Dynasty indicate political control over
the entire island was established by AD 1180 1200 (770 750 yr) (McCoy et al. 2016). This evidence is
a strong indicator that Nan Mandol has had significant influence on other communities within Eastern
Micronesia due to its early establishment. According to Clark et al. (2007), evidence drawn from
monumental architecture is one of the greatest indicators for prehistoric socio political organization.
Nan Mandol is therefore opening a door to study the establishment of kingdoms in the Pacific. The
island of Pohnpei is important for two reasons: First its archaeology, second its geology. First, the date
of settlement for Pohnpei has been estimated at AD 1 (1950 cal yr BP) (Athens et al.1990). According
to Hanlon et al. (1988),

The Necklace, Mr. Maupassant
In The Necklace Mr. Maupassant tells a story of a woman, Mrs. Loisel, who goes through many
emotions over the loss of a necklace that ends up being a fake. As she goes through these situations
Mr. Maupassant gives examples of literally elements that prove what kind of person she turns out to
be. Throughout the story Mrs. Loisel is conflicted with many problems just to realize who she became
and how she took advantage of what she already had in her life. When it turns out to be too late she
then blames her friend for letting her borrow the necklace instead of taking the responsibility of her
selfish life.
During the eighteenth century all aspects of western culture was influenced to take over the role of
women in society at the time. Women were lead to believe that men were supposed to be the primary
householders whom can do anything leaving them dependent to men. Women at the time also had to
deal with the struggles of living in social class lifestyles that dreamt of having nothing but luxuries
and higher values. Guy De Maupassant s The Necklace portrays this very situation through the
character of Mrs. Loisel with the different use of literary devices. She is stuck between wanting to live
the lifestyle and learning to live her own without certain delicacies.
A point to consider is the use of foreshadowing in Maupassant s The Necklace and how it gives away
further events in the story. With foreshadowing, the reader is given clues at the beginning of the story

Edward Bloom was an extraordinary man. When he was young, he could outrun anyone. He saved

when he told the tall tales of his life. Now, on his deathbed Edward s son, William, desperately wants

even extreme exaggerations have roots in reality. The true character of Edward Bloom is never

The thing that set Edward apart from the other people in Ashland, Alabama is that he knew what he
wanted and would do anything to achieve it. He knew he was a big fish trapped in a small pond. When
Edward left Ashland, he wandered through an unnamed town. The town was populated by people who
had left Ashland, but did not have enough ambition to make it in the world. A dog patrolled the
perimeter of the unnamed town and would test people to determine if they were worthy enough to
leave the town. If the tested person was determined unfit, the dog would bite off one of their fingers.
The dog allows Edward to leave the town. This shows the reader that Edward is indeed ambitious and
will overcome any obstacle to acquire what he wants. It is said when Edward was young, he read
every book he could find in Ashland and quickly become one of the brightest minds in the town. After
escaping the unnamed town, He decides he needs to further his education and attends Auburn
University. While pursuing academics at Auburn, he falls in love with Sandra Templeton the most
beautiful woman in the town of Auburn (840). He soon found out that another man, Don Price, has
already asked for Sandra s hand in marriage, but that did not weaken Edward s pursuit of her. He

Perspective On Reading
The purpose of this chapter is to provide a review of the literature regarding an historical perspective
on reading instruction in schools, and the balanced literacy philosophy. This information provides a
background from which to better understand how the balanced literature approach to reading
instruction has come to exist, and the tasks that are part of this philosophy for the teacher. Then, more
specific information is examined from the Crowley Independent School District regarding how the
balanced literacy framework is implemented within that district. In addition, various curriculum
documents are discussed in order to better understand how the CISD implements its balanced literacy
program. Furthermore, the professional development and support for the reading initiative that occurs
at the district and campus levels is discussed, along with the leadership that is provided within the
schools to help teachers successfully carry out the balanced literacy program.

In this regard, there was a focus on the part of researchers about how teachers could use proper actions
and behaviors, as well as proper rewards and punishments to encourage and motivate children to read.
As part of this view that reading was a conditioned or even programmed behavior in children, phonics
became the primary way in which reading instruction occurred in schools. Researchers believed that
teaching phonics provided a way in which children would learn the basic components of language,
and would be able to improve reading skills in a logical manner. Phonics made it possible for children
to first learn letter sounds, then put those sounds together to learn words, and then put words together

I think he was the most interesting jazz musician I ve ever seen in my life. He just looked so
authoritative . . . I said, Well, that s what I want to do when I grow up. (DeVeaux, 35) Cannonball
Adderley said these words when he first saw Coleman Hawkins with the Fletcher Henderson band at
the City Auditorium in Tampa, Florida. Just as Hawkins influenced one of the greatest alto players in
history, he has influenced many people to become phenomenal saxophone players. Lester Young and

Anti Bias Curriculum For Children And Families From...
As a Family Advocate, I work with families and children from different backgrounds and cultures.
After completing the observations, anti bias curriculum is a must to reflect the cultural and
background of the families and children in the program. Many families I work with are low income.
My goal is to create an environment where children and families from different backgrounds can feel
comfortable and belonging. I would like to work closely with families and provide the support that
they may need. There are countless ways biased against low income families. A large part of the mold
is just plain incorrect. Most people believe that the poor are poor because of their own shortcomings
instead inequitable access to services and opportunities. There are litanies of stereotypes towards poor
people, such as poor people are lazy and uneducated. They are alcoholics and drug addicts. They do
not want to work and depend on social welfare system. They don t know how to teach their children
and let them run wild and dirty. Poor people don t have knowledge and good for labor but nothing
else. Other common stereotypes about the poor show that they are inattentive and, as a result, parents
are not effective. Low income parents or guardians who do not attend parent teacher meetings can
become the target of stereotyping, or worse, getting blamed by those educators. Because of these
stigmatic, even the low income also biases against themselves. They believe that they could not

Legalizing Drugs
Why drugs should be legal? The reason is simple to legalize drugs, this makes them a legitimate
business, and just like any legal business they, must pay taxes. Legalization would end the
exaggerated well paid drug business, and bring to the surface the existing black market. The solution
would dramatically reduce the price of drugs, the high costs of drug production, and trading which
includes prohibition.
The legalization of drugs would cause fewer homicides around twenty five percent in the United
States (According to: World Health Organization). This means that people who are addicted to these
kind of substances will not have to steal or prostitute themselves to pay the high price of these
substances. Studies have shown that when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Constitutional Basis For Public Health Action
Module 2: The Constitutional and Legal Basis for Public Health Action
Government and population are two characteristics that differentiate public health law from other
laws. In public health law, government is the actor, legislature, congress, city council, city
commissions, meaning that only government can take away or violate individual rights in certain
circumstances. Second characteristic of public health law, population or group of people who share
similar characteristics.
The essential services of public health are prevention and welfare of the public s health.
The important concept in the constitutional basis for public health action is protect the community and
rebalance that against the need of individual rights. States take responsibility and authority to provide
public health and public safety: inspection and regulation of commercial and residential facilities;

The Effects Of Coal Mining On The Health Of The Body
Coal mining has several negative effects on the health of the body that often times go unrecognized or
just simply ignored. Many people have died from mining for various reasons such as the collapse of
the mines as well as respiratory diseases caused by mining. Governments across the globe continue to
implement regulations for the miners and populations surrounding the mines, but they have failed to
eliminate health risks related to mining, which is nearly impossible. Mining permits used to be easy to

Theme Of Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown
Symbolism within Young Goodman Brown Within many Gothic works, symbolism is profoundly
used, especially in the tale of Young Goodman Brown written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Was Faith his
innocent companion or his trust in his religion? Why does Faith wear pink ribbons, innocence much
like that of a child or a deep symbolic meaning? Deception is yet another symbol within this tale,
because not everything is as it seams. By Faith, representation of colors, and deception, Hawthorne
demonstrates Gothic symbolism within his tale of Young Goodman Brown . Faith is trust and belief in
someone or something, mainly within religious practices. However, Faith has also become a popular
name. Within the passage, Faith is the name of Goodman Brown s wife. In the beginning, Faith
desperately begs Brown to stay at home instead of departing on the journey for the reason that Faith
was timid and scared to death. However, as most men do, he does not listen and went on his
expedition anyways; he left his dear Faith behind. By leaving his wife Faith, Brown also leaves behind
his actual faith in God on his journey in to the forest (Stoehr 393). Therefore, in his short story
Hawthorne symbolizes Brown s wife as his own faith. By leaving her, it demonstrates him leaving not
only his wife, but his faith.
Pink is an innocent hue of color, is it not? In addition to being a symbol within the passage, Goodman
Brown s wife Faith wears pink ribbons in her hair. At first glance, pink is a

Taking a Look at Intrusion Detection
Intrusion Detection Intrusion detection is similar in concept to a burglar alarm on a car. There is the
lock system to prevent access to a car, similar to a firewall, and there is the alarm system, the intrusion
detection system. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are there to compliment the network or
computers firewall, if or when there is a breach, it is the IDS that is able to identify it and then alert
the administrator. Firewalls are an effective way for filtering information coming in to your network
from the internet and are a good source of protection, but there are ways to circumvent a firewall
which could leave you defenseless. An IDS monitors the firewall for breaches and also monitors the
traffic on the organizations network for any anomalies. This is important in the instance of an external
user connecting to an organizations infrastructure by connecting through an installed modem on the
network, this form of attack cannot be caught by a firewall but an IDS is able to recognize the
abnormal activity and report the intrusion to an administrator. Intrusion detection systems are there to
help an information system prepare for and deal with attacks. They collect information from a variety
of system and network sources and then analyze the information and activity logs searching for
information on potential security problems. Some of the main tasks of an IDS are to monitor and
analyze the user and system activity on a network, to audit the systems

Humanitarian Intervention Research Paper
I. Introduction
In 2011, Operation Unified Protector performed air strikes over Libya, destabilizing the country and
enabling the murder of Libya s dictator of 42 years, Colonel Muammar al Gaddafi. The United
Nations Security Council justified the Libya Intervention for NATO allies on the grounds of an
imminent humanitarian crisis that was thought to occur at the direction of Gaddafi. Thus, the United
States, UNSC, and NATO allies are culpable for the humanitarian catastrophe in Libya and the killing
of Gaddafi, because of their misuse of Responsibility to Protect (R2P) for their Humanitarian
Intervention in 2011.
In this paper I will provide a brief history of relations between the U.S. and Libya since 1979 and give
an overview of the 2011 NATO led Humanitarian Intervention in Libya claimed to prevent an
anticipated humanitarian crisis. I will examine the stated motivations behind the NATO backed
Intervention that resulted in the regime change. I will explain President Barack Obama s motivations
to move forward with the intervention, as well as his current state of mind on the matter. In addition, I
will explain Secretary of State Hillary Clinton motives at the time of the intervention, the reasons as

the Libya Intervention, he admits that there was no plan in place to re stabilize the country after the
fall of Gaddafi. According to Recchia, an effort to share in the burden of peacekeeping and
stabilization plans is necessary for public support (p. 262) (Stefano Recchia, Soldiers, Civilians, and

Guess Who s Coming At Dinner Directed By Stanley Kramer
Guess Who s Coming to Dinner directed by Stanley Kramer is a controversial movie from the late
1960 s. The premise of the film is a young white woman named Joey Drayton (Katharine Houghton);
who falls in love with an older African American Doctor John Prentice, (Sidney Poitier). The new
loving couple meets in Hawaii and after ten days of knowing each other are engaged. Joanna Drayton
sees no difference between her and John, she is in love and ready to marry her new fiancé, She insist

legalized in the United States on June 12th 1967 by the Supreme Court, the film Guess Who s Coming
to Dinner was released December 11th 1967, only 6 months after the ruling was made, meaning this
film was in production before interracial marriage was legal in the entire United States. This film was
the first of its kind and opened a window to an unexplored world of marriage between blacks and
whites.

Debt to Equity Ratio
The debt to equity ratio demonstrates how the brewery is financed (outside creditors vs shareholders.)
Debt to Equity ratio= Total liabilities/ shareholder equity

Mary Shelley s Modern Prometheus
Frankenstein was Mary Shelley s modern Prometheus, a literary form of the forbidden flame bestowed
upon the human race the science of electricity. Yet, the story of Victor Frankenstein s creature is not
one strictly of science, or of a caution against it, or of a vendetta against the popular Calvinist belief of
predestination. What Victor Frankenstein, and Mary Shelley, created for the world was a story of how
far a man dared go with the forbidden flame greater natural knowledge that was spreading amongst
mankind. The unique blend of science to create a monster so akin to the undead vampire or spirits
created a new form of supernatural, the kind of supernatural that was manmade. Frankenstein, with its
meeting of the modern Prometheus and the leading strict Calvinist faith, created such controversy,
which led Shelley to vastly revise the work in a second edition; the novel stood as a stepping stone
into and out of the Romantic works, with intensity of emotion and the new aesthetic of the sublime,
but the continuing message of Mary Shelley s work not of the dangers of man overcoming God
maintained the difference between what could be done and what should be done, in the most
cautionary way.
In some ways, Frankenstein offers the reader an overt theme of caution don t attempt to equal nature s,
or God s, power which was hardly accepted at the time of publication; however, this reflection, and
combination, of religion and science became continual controversy linked

National Security Requirements Exercised The Most...
National security requirements exercised the most significant influence on the development of
airpower in Europe and the United States before the Second World War (WWII). Nations on both
sides of the ocean had experienced the multifaceted disastrous results of World War I (WWI) and
airpower seemed to be the answer for future wars. Understanding the context and consequences of
WWI is vital to comprehend airpower theorists like Douhet, Mitchell and Trenchard and their
revolutionary thoughts on airpower. The development of aircraft at the beginning of the twentieth
century challenged not only military leadership but also, more important, the national security of
modern states. The basic question was: How will strategic bombing of enemy territory fit in to
national security and military strategy? This paper will narrow the view on Europe by selecting Great
Britain as one of the most relevant nations in WWII concerning strategic bombing. WWI was the first
total war in the industrial age with unprecedented casualties on all sides of the belligerent nations. In
spite of gigantic troop numbers, both sides expected a quick war with a decisive victory. However, in
1915, the maneuvering part of the war was over and resulted ultimately in bloody trench warfare.
Furthermore, as the war continued, attrition of the adversary became the main goal as the battle at
Verdun highlighted. Consequently, aircraft offered an alternative to the static warfare of the trenches.

Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor might not have happened if a Mongolian Cavalry had never crossed the

But one time, a Calvary of Mongolians crossed the border of Manchuria to find some grass to feed
their horses. The Japanese attacked the small unit, and drove the Mongols out. Then the Mongolian
unit brought an army into Manchuria, but this time Japan was not able to defend against them. The
Mongolians, with the Soviets, were too strong for the Japanese to defeat them and the Japanese got
surrounded. Eight officers were killed along with ninety seven soldiers, and one officer was wounded
along with thirty three soldiers on May 28. (Young) The Japanese were miserably defeated by the
Soviet Union, but that did not convince the Japanese to stop attacking. It is really unclear why the
Japanese wanted to attack the Soviet Union. It is possible that because Japan was an empire and an
expansionist once they saw Hitler taking other countries, which was how they got motivated to do it
themselves. So possibly their thinking was if Hitler gets to do it, then we can too. A stronger reason
why the Japanese attacked the Soviets was due to the Soviets vast wealth in oil resources. In order to
become a prosperous country with the best war technology, oil is one of the most necessary resources
to have. Just like in Pearl Harbor, the Japanese targeted the oil, so the U.S could not get air
domination. Another reason was that after the Russo Japanese War, Japan and the

The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution set people away from farms and small villages and moved them to cities
and towns because of the job opportunities that arose in the cities. The Industrial Revolution not only
helped people move along in the late 1700s and early 1800s but also it has made the people what they
are today. During the Industrial Revolution, the movement from an agrarian society to an industrial
one reshaped the roles of families, widen the gap between classes, and led to the developments in
communication, transportation, and other scientific fields that completely changed humanity.
The Industrial Revolution started in the late 1700s and early 1800s which helped the transition from
agrarian to one of industrial. Before the factories were made, the common folk would work on the
farms that would make the food that they would need to survive, and they would also make their own
clothes. All the clothes and materials that the people had before the industrial revolution they would
make themselves because there was no mass production of items being made and the people who
would sell the items never had enough in their inventory for everyone to buy. Factories started to arise
making it easier to mass produce items that the people wanted, like cloths and eventually everyday
materials. Those factories and opportunities for work is why people moved into cities.( History.com)

For the Live Irresistible product the target are women of different ages, but in particular the young

Mango Street Vignettes
The House on Mango Street contains a variety of vignettes that reveal details of the author s life while
growing up. The most important theme throughout these vignettes is identity and trying to find it. This
theme of identity includes ethnicity, gender, economic status, etc. Also, this set of stories was able to
hold my interest. This is mostly because it exposed me to a culture that it almost foreign to me. This
piece also made me realize how lucky I am to live in Chatham, which is much nicer than the situation

To begin, the theme that I found the most important in these vignettes was identity. More specifically,
the individual identity or the narrator, Sandra Cisneros. She has a difficult upbringing as ... Show more

the narrator s family deals with death and the rituals that go with it, ... they will (take) a black and

they send the dead away in that country (Cisneros 56). I felt like this was an important book because it
details a very emotionally taxing point in Sandra and her families lives. This culture is also a victim of
harsh stereotypes. People believe that the neighborhoods where hispanics live are very dangerous and
these places are not safe to travel through. The vignette, Those Who Don t, detail this problem, Those
who don t know any better come to our neighborhood scared. They think that we are dangerous... But
watch us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity shake and our car
windows get rolled up tight and out eye look straight (Cisneros 28). This shows how people outside
their community think that they are all terrible and dangerous people, but really there are nice and
misunderstood.
In conclusion, The House on Mango Street was a very entertaining and was able to hold my interest. It
showed me how a different perspective on how people lived. Unique themes were also created to

Woman Hollering Creek By Sandra Cisneros
The book Woman Hollering Creek, by Sandra Cisneros highlights many examples of everyday verbal
mythology in the Hispanic culture, literacy and language as sites of conflict build up. The violence in
lack of translation, interpretation by translators, culture betrayal and existence of encoded language
only familiar to insiders are some of the issues that seems not to appeal to the translators.
The sufferings and subordination of both the culture and language by the leading culture is
accompanied by other elements that erupt from unconscious of the book s author to make things work
for its conscious signification. The author says that [The poem is] Pretty in Spanish. But you ll have to
take my word for it. In English it just sounds goofy. (161). this clearly highlights the issue of
untranslatability of the discourse subordinated culture to the dominant languages. The untranslatability
of the Spanish language, the unpronounceability of Spanish and Amerindian name and the invisibility
of silencing of Chicanos are all figured out by Sandra. Spanish operates in the text as a sign of insider
status, specifically the bilingual Spanglish which, according to Castillo s poet narrator, is spoken with
an outrag accent splattered with Chicanismos, one could only assume was done with some intention
(54). The character, Cleofilas, calls the mixture Spanish pocked with English, the metaphor, perhaps
inadvertently, evoking disfigurement and disease (55).

The innocence shown by the young boy at the beginning of the story can be attributed to many factors,
the main reason being his Auntie Reed. She goes on talking for days about the big revival. Just like
any other kid would, Hughes listens and believes word for word what his aunt tells him: ?She said you
could see and hear and feel Jesus in your soul.? (181) This naivete is characteristic of youths of that
age group. After all, he ?heard a great many old people say the same thing? (181) and it seemed to him
?they ought to know? (181). With all the hype and anticipation surrounding this event, Hughes is
certain something is bound to happen. His disappointment is manifested when he does not literally see
Jesus. From what he has been told, Hughes is expecting to see a human incarnation of Jesus. He is
actually more than just expecting to see him; he badly wants to be saved! Seeing Westley give up so
carelessly, triggers an awkward feeling inside of Hughes. The thought that Jesus is not going to show
up after all is starting to grow. That leads him to eventually give up and join Westley in lying. It is
only at night that he comes

How Did Pope John Paul II Influence The Development Of...
Pope John Paul II delivered his message in 1996 that evolution is compatible with Christian faith. He
shared the same views as Pope Pius XII, who wished to bring scholars and the church together so that
the holy could learn more about the developments in scientific research to provide aid for reflections.
He asked those whom her referred to as the scientific senate of the church that they serve the truth.
Pope John Paul II expressed delight for the first theme which is the origin of life and evolution. This is
a theme of high interest for the church since revelation contains its own teachings concerning nature
and the origin of man. He asked how the conclusions from both sides could be brought together, and
where could they find a solution if the views clashed. He also expressed the importance of the
research relating to the relationship of the church and the scientific ... Show more content on

He observed that in both living and non living nature the evolution of science will give rise to new
inquiries. That from these inquiries the church can expand the understanding of these new
developments and apply them to the church s mission regarding moral behavior to which all men are
called in view of their integral salvation. Pope John Paul II then drew attention to two interventions
pronounced by the church regarding the origin of life and evolution. First being Pope Pius XII
affirmation that there is no conflict between evolution and faith. The second was an example of
Gallileo, to draw attention to the necessity of using a rigorous hermeneutical approach in seeking a
concrete interpretation of the inspired texts. He expressed the importance of setting the correct limits
to understanding scripture and rejecting inaccurate interpretations which make is state something that

I Love Triangles Essay
While I am happy that she feels comfortable with me, I also feel awkward since I believe my mother
wants me to side with her whenever she makes difficult decisions concerning her relationships. Due to
the fact that she is my mother, I would support her no matter what decisions she makes concerning her
relationships. However, knowing details about her relationships is uncomfortable for me and often I
wish she would not share so much with me. Also, because she does share quite a bit with me,
sometimes I fear that my siblings are jealous of the coalition that has formed. My sisters will
sometimes make comments regarding the relationship between my mother and I, offering evidence
that they feel hurt my mother does not share with them. Triangles As discussed previously, members
in my family typically pair up and the duos are typically stable. Due to this tendency, triangles are not
an issue that commonly arise in my family. Whenever there is tension between two family members, it
is normally resolved between the individuals. On occasion, when a conflict is proving difficult to
solve, a triangle will form when another individual is added in order to help stabilize the twosome.
The person who is typically added during these events is my father, who would try to help bring about
an end to the conflict. On occasion, my siblings or myself would be the individual who was added in
order to attempt to bring about stabilization between a pair. Enmeshment, disengagement, and

Analysis Of The Garden Of Eden By Francesco Solimena
The painting chosen to examine is The Garden of Eden by Francesco Solimena. This painting was
created between 1725 30. The medium of the painting is oil on canvas. The scale, although not
specified, appears to be about a couple feet high and a couple feet long. The general subject matter is
Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. It seems to be before they have discovered the forbidden fruit.
The figures seem to be embracing everything the garden has to offer, they seem content and
comfortable in their own skin. In most paintings, Adam and Eve are covered up after eating the
forbidden fruit, for they are shamed. The fact that they are shown in the nude most likely suggests that
they still have their innocence. An important thing to note about ... Show more content on

Immediately, my eyes are drawn to Adam and Eve, for they are the largest figures in the painting. All
of the characters are stylized to the tune of what the artist wants, for his figures, including the animals,
are shown as very muscular, not very naturalistic. This is similar to Michelangelo s characters, he
believed that the mans body is the pinnacle of god s creation, using the male body as the body of all of
his characters, men and women included. These figures are also similar to the Greeks, who were very
focused on the human body. The color used in this painting is not too obvious, it seems like a pretty
dark colored painting when first looking at it. After further examination, I started to notice more colors
that are throughout the piece. There is blue, which is part of the angel s garment. In religious
paintings, blue often symbolizes a sort of heavenly grace. This blue is also seen in the sky surrounding
the figures, perhaps another symbol suggesting that Adam and Eve still have their innocence, for they
are surrounded by a heavenly grace. White is also seen in the painting, both as a part of the angel s
wings and the clouds in the sky. White often symbolizes purity and innocence, yet another symbol that
shows Adam and Eve have not yet been shamed from the garden. Another major color that stands out
more than anything else is red, which is seen in the animals right next to Adam and Eve. This could
possibly represent the presence

Evolution Of The Internet And Network Protocols
The Evolution of the Internet and Network Protocols The internet has revolutionized the modern
world like no other invention has before, except perhaps, electricity. The internet allows sharing and
collaboration to take place between people on opposite sides of the globe. Vinton G. Cerf, often called
the Father of the Internet , admits that when the original idea of an intranet was in its infancy, there
was no possible way to imagine all of the ways we would come to use it (NDTV, 2013). But how does
it work? The internet, based on the concept of packet switching , involves the travelling of small
packets of data over one or more networks (Frenzel, 2013). This can be compared to electronic
postcards , meaning that a computer generates a piece of data and flings it into the net, just like the
postal system, except 100 million times faster (Cerf, 2013). This concept allows one computer to
speak to many different computers around the network by sending out these electronic postcards .
However, before these networks can work seamlessly together, they must use a common protocol, or
set of rules for transmitting and receiving these packets of data. There are several protocols currently
in use, including the OSI Model, the TCP/IP Model, UDP, HTTP, and FDP (Mitchell, 2014), but the
most commonly used is Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (Gilmer, 2011).
Even as early as 1977, TCP/IP was being used by other networks to link to ARPANET (Kozierok,

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform
What is a regulation?
One thing all US banks have in common is that they are all financial institutions regulated by the
Federal Government.
The optimum word here is, regulate. A word, which by itself, without a noun to precede it, means to
adjust by rule, method or established mode, as to regulate our manners by the customary forms; to put
in good order, as to regulate the disordered state of a nation or its finances; to subject to rules or
restrictions as to regulate trade. (Webster Dictionary, 1828)
Who is Dodd Frank?
The Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act is, in a word, the Whitehouse
Pitbull guarding the financial system of the US.

Currently, venture capital (VC) funding trends for FinTech and the developments in large categories
such as wealth management, blockchain, remittance tech, and insurance tech, certainly do seem to be
in the process of changing the face of payments and the contemporary relationship that the payments
industry has with banks.
In the aforementioned article, Dan Ciporin, general partner at Canaan Partners, is reported as saying
The future of banking lies in adopting more advanced tech like open APIs and tech enabled loan
underwriting.
If they don t adapt, big banks are at risk of becoming utilities, like Verizon ... dumb pipes, said
Ciporin, speaking at CB Insights Future of Fintech Conference held in New York back in June of this
year.
The future of banking lies in open systems, he said, which banks are simply unable to create. I just
don t think the DNA is there to do it, he added. In Ciporin s view, consumer facing FinTech startups
have arisen naturally out of the limitations in banking operations. If you think about the structure of
how banks make money, on some level they store money at extraordinarily low rates and lend it out
usually on the credit card side at extraordinarily high rates, so if you can find a way to lower that
spread you have a great business

DNA and DNA Profiling Made Simple Essay
1.1. Amplification
If the quantity of the DNA isolated is not enough, the specialist increases it to optimal levels via an
amplification technique that uses the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process. In addition, PCR
targets specific locations on the DNA strand known as the loci (singular: locus) to produce similar
copies.
1.2. Electrophoresis
In this process, the specialist separates the materials based on their size and composition of the DNA
strands on a particular gel in the presence of electricity. The figure below displays the electrophoresis
results (courtesy of How Stuff Works). 1.3. Analysis
The last stage involves analyzing the DNA screening results obtained based on a particular program in

The criminal justice system employs DNA evidence in the conviction process. It is evident that
technology affects the criminal justice system either directly or indirectly. For that reason, the lawyers
and workers in the judicial system should better understand the various technological aspects of DNA.
Unfortunately, the professional outline of the criminal justice system lacks the details concerning
DNA. This calls for experts in biotechnology to interpret the various aspects of the technology and its
application in the judicial system in a simplified mode as much as possible. This text presents a
simplified guide that workers of the criminal justice system can follow to understand the concepts of
DNA and its biotechnological application in the field of study.
3. DNA Background
3.1. What is DNA?
The term DNA seems new and intricate to the judicial system because it does not closely relate to
scientific terms. Hence, a lawyer needs to understand what the term represents. DNA, the abbreviation
for deoxyribonucleic acid, refers to the major building component of life. It is a relatively long,
twisted, and coiled miniature strand that holds coded information (sequence) necessary for directing
and controlling all biochemical processes in the body. In addition, it is responsible for determining the
body s physical characteristics. For that reason, all individuals have DNA materials, which are behind
the uniqueness they portray.
In summary, the DNA material

I Naturally And Instantly Chose `` Bohemian Rhapsody `` By...
For my song analysis assignment, I naturally and instantly chose Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. This
song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing compares to the harmonies and
musicianship put into this song.
Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975.
This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground of the mid 70s
Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He wrote the song
in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song using a structure that leans towards a
more classical approach.
In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which were initiating
throughout this era) and took them to another level.
Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental line up of Guitar,
Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were something completely new and in
doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of rock music.
Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned them a glam rocker
tag.
The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced to the practice of an
untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do with Freddie coming out as a
homosexual. In that era, it was not a normal thing and therefore majority of people were against it.
Interestingly enough the song has not got a chorus, but just

Political Cartoon
After the 2016 Presidential election, there have been a lot of controversies. Many political cartoons
have been created for a multitude of different issues that have been occurring within the White House
and in government. Chris Britt, a liberal cartoonist was inspired by these issues and created political
cartoons regarding them. He is a nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist as well as a children s book
author. Christ decided to take on a cartoon in regards to the current healthcare system. In this specific
cartoon, the main message is, Slaughter the Affordable Care Act. Currently, President Trump is
looking to revise the current healthcare system because he disagrees with the system that President
Obama had put in place during his presidency. The Affordable Care Act s main purpose is to help
insure low income citizens the ability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When President Trump was campaigning, he made it known that the ACA was not what he wanted.
Included in the cartoon, Chris drew President Trump with an axe, holding it over a man tied over a
stump (this is representing the American citizens receiving healthcare). President Trump has a button
on his suit with the message Kill Obama Care written on it. He is also speaking to the patients with a
message saying, Take a knee you loser. This drawing is appealing to conservatives. It is demonstrating
Trumps feelings against Obamacare and the standardization of healthcare. By taking away
Obamacare, many people think that President Trump will be killing them. Individuals who have
insurance today could possibly have that taken away from them. When the idea of a possible
replacement to Obamacare came about, many powerful medical special interest groups became
enemies of the idea. These groups include, AARP, the American Medical Association

  • 2. The Causes Of Fascism Fascism is a widely debated topic, many theories are proposed regarding its origins, its appeal, the support it gained from big business and the cooperation it received from the Catholic Church. What I believe to be an inalienable truth is that early signs of fascism are firmly rooted in the First World War. To argue that the First World War caused fascism however is debatable, I will hold the belief that the First World War was a catalyst for fascism, that fascism as Roger Eatwell puts was embryonic rather than fully formed (R. Eatwell, Fascism: A History) and that the war created a unique environment and opportunity for the nurturing and growth of fascist ideologies. I will discuss what I believe to be the most potent factors that pushed the growth of fascism, the economic crisis of the 1920s and the subsequent weakening of western liberal democracies, the discontentment and chagrin of the Italian and German public towards victory and defeat respectively and most importantly, the threat of Communism and its political manipulation. Hobsbawm argues that, fascism did not exist before 1919 (Hobsbawm, Age of Extremes). This paper follows that belief and it allows us to pull our focus towards the time directly post war. It is in this time that I will argue that the seeds of fascism were planted and that the unstable socio economic landscape of Europe resulted in volatile nationalist politics in the 1920s and allowed for the resultant fascism to take root and to grow at an ... • 3. Female Role In Modern Philosophy The era of modern philosophy, with a special canalization period during the 18th and 19th centuries, was a time of flourishing activity in terms of philosophical importance. Whether we re speaking with relation to Cartesianism, the moral and political philosophy of Nietzsche, or another male during the period, their philosophical ideologies still remain present and of use in multiple presentations from bioethics to law. Transgressing beyond the grave, the impacts of these few still conquer, but what about the ideologies of the nameless? Continually ignored within the narrative, one primary demographic of philosophers during the era of modern philosophy that is commonly ignored is that of women. Although the importance of female impact on modern philosophy is quantified as minuscule, the females of this era had achievements and impacts on the ideologies of their predecessors and deserve recognition. Of the primary accomplishments of females within modern philosophy, three main emphases reign most important to modernity and those are as follows: Elisabeth of the Palatinate s influence of Cartesian dualism and Anne Viscountess Conway s impact on the philosophy of Gottfried Leibniz. One of the best utilization alternatives of this clean energy, existing in the hydrogen, would be through the process of electrolysis of water as it is a relatively simple process without generated solid, liquid or gas waste which would be harmful to the environment. Furthermore it helps in the reducing of the consumption of fossil fuels. According to Al Rousan (2010), the HHO gas produced in the electrolytic reactor, can be injected into internal combustion engines, along with the original fuel engine improves engine efficiency and consequently reduces power consumption of the fossil fuel. • 9. Picture Bride Essay Immigrants arriving in America for their first time are initially devastated at their new lives and realize their golden lives were simply fantasies and dreams of an ideal life in America. Immigrants from foreign countries, including those mentioned in Uchida s Picture Bride, faced countless problems and hardships, including a sense of disillusionment and disappointment. Furthermore, immigrants and picture brides faced racial discrimination not only from white men, but the United States government, as well. Hana becomes disheartened as her visions were shattered by reality and a sense of betrayal from her husband s lies. She, like many picture brides and immigrants, expected too much of a new life, and when she discovers the way things really are, she feels deceived and dismayed. Accepting the truth and the reality of their new lives is a part of an immigrant s experience in moving to America and is a crucial part in shaping their attitudes in their new lives. Once an immigrant becomes situated with their new life styles, the foreign immigrants are introduced to a sense of hatred and discrimination omnipresent in society. Many Americans and white men were not welcoming towards alien immigrants and expressed a great deal of discrimination and hatred. Immigrants and their families realized they had to learn to accept this hatred if they wanted to live in America, and eventually taught themselves to be tolerant towards discrimination, without knowing a motif behind a white man s disgust towards immigrants. • 10. World War 1 Research Paper World War I, which lasted from 1914 to 1918, was one of the bloodiest wars in the history of the world, its horrors surpassed only by World War II. The start of the war can be traced back to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungary in June 1918 by Gavrilo Princip, a member of a Bosnian Serb rebel group wishing to liberate ethnically Serbian parts of Bosnia from the Austro Hungarian Empire and integrate them with the neighboring Kingdom of Serbia. The assassination led to a cascade of events which ended in full scale conflict in Europe and other parts of the world between the Allied Powers, consisting of most notably France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, Italy and later in the war, the United States, and the Central Powers: Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. The war ended four years later with the defeat of the Central Powers. The Treaty of Versailles drafted in 1919, was one of the numerous attempts by the Allied Powers to achieve revenge on Germany and dismantle its economy. The treaty caused great unrest in Germany and dissatisfaction with the nascent postwar German government, the Weimar Republic. The unrest and dissatisfaction led to the rise of the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP or Nazi Party) and its intent to destroy and replace the Weimar Republic. The aftermath of World War I, including the treatment of Germans by the Allied Powers through the Treaty of Versailles led to a rise in radical German nationalism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Antononia s Personality Of Antonia By Willa Cather Option 4 Activity 1. I think that Willa Cather admired Antonia s personality because of her strong loyal spirit. Although she was challenged in many ways, she never backed down from a fight. Her father s death, her pregnancy and abandonment, and her situation at the Harlings were only temporary setbacks in her life. She thrived in anyway she could. Even though Antonia is headstrong and high spirited, Cather seems to admire this about her. I was thinking, as I watched her, how little it mattered about her teeth, for instance. I know so many women who have kept all the things that she had lost, but whose inner glow has faded. Whatever else was gone, Antonia had not lost the fire of life. Even after Cather compares Antonia s impulsiveness to the anxiousness of Jim, Antonia always seems to come out on top. Despite Antonia challenging him in every turn, Jim admires these qualities about Antonia. I d have liked to have you for a sweetheart, or a wife, or my mother or my sister anything a woman can be to a man. The idea of you is part of my mind; you influence my likes and dislikes, all my tastes, hundreds of times when I don t realize it. You really are a part of me. • 12. A Lost City Found Among The Coral Reefs Of The Pacific A lost city found among the coral reefs of the Pacific, Nan Mandol is now ruins adjacent to the eastern shore of the island of Pohnpei that once was the capital of the Saudeleur Dynasty until 1628 (Ayres et al. 1992). Recently, a research group from the Southern Methodist University led by Mark D. McCoy found the earliest direct evidence of monument building at Nan Madol (McCoy et al. 2016). This is a significant discovery that pushes back the initial age of dynasty in the Pacific over 100 years, and provides anthropologist a new way to study the evolution of society. Before this discovery, scientists had set the date for the first dynasty in the Pacific to around 1300 CE. McCoy et al. (2016) stated, The earliest evidence of hierarchical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The age they established was 1180 CE, over 100 years earlier than was previously assumed. The reason for its enhanced effectiveness is based around measuring the basalt samples carbon 14 content, and comparing it with the carbon 14 activity in modern and background samples. We report the earliest secure dates on the construction of monumental architecture in the remote islands of the Pacific located at the site of Nan Madol on Pohnpei Island in Eastern Micronesia. High precision uranium series dating of coral from the tomb of the Saudeleur Dynasty indicate political control over the entire island was established by AD 1180 1200 (770 750 yr) (McCoy et al. 2016). This evidence is a strong indicator that Nan Mandol has had significant influence on other communities within Eastern Micronesia due to its early establishment. According to Clark et al. (2007), evidence drawn from monumental architecture is one of the greatest indicators for prehistoric socio political organization. Nan Mandol is therefore opening a door to study the establishment of kingdoms in the Pacific. The island of Pohnpei is important for two reasons: First its archaeology, second its geology. First, the date of settlement for Pohnpei has been estimated at AD 1 (1950 cal yr BP) (Athens et al.1990). According to Hanlon et al. (1988), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Necklace, Mr. Maupassant In The Necklace Mr. Maupassant tells a story of a woman, Mrs. Loisel, who goes through many emotions over the loss of a necklace that ends up being a fake. As she goes through these situations Mr. Maupassant gives examples of literally elements that prove what kind of person she turns out to be. Throughout the story Mrs. Loisel is conflicted with many problems just to realize who she became and how she took advantage of what she already had in her life. When it turns out to be too late she then blames her friend for letting her borrow the necklace instead of taking the responsibility of her selfish life. During the eighteenth century all aspects of western culture was influenced to take over the role of women in society at the time. Women were lead to believe that men were supposed to be the primary householders whom can do anything leaving them dependent to men. Women at the time also had to deal with the struggles of living in social class lifestyles that dreamt of having nothing but luxuries and higher values. Guy De Maupassant s The Necklace portrays this very situation through the character of Mrs. Loisel with the different use of literary devices. She is stuck between wanting to live the lifestyle and learning to live her own without certain delicacies. A point to consider is the use of foreshadowing in Maupassant s The Necklace and how it gives away further events in the story. With foreshadowing, the reader is given clues at the beginning of the story as to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now, on his deathbed Edward s son, William, desperately wants to know the truth about the father he barely knows. Big Fish, by Daniel Wallace, shows that all stories even extreme exaggerations have roots in reality. The true character of Edward Bloom is never revealed in detail. A dog patrolled the perimeter of the unnamed town and would test people to determine if they were worthy enough to leave the town. If the tested person was determined unfit, the dog would bite off one of their fingers. The dog allows Edward to leave the town. This shows the reader that Edward is indeed ambitious and will overcome any obstacle to acquire what he wants. It is said when Edward was young, he read every book he could find in Ashland and quickly become one of the brightest minds in the town. • 15. Perspective On Reading The purpose of this chapter is to provide a review of the literature regarding an historical perspective on reading instruction in schools, and the balanced literacy philosophy. This information provides a background from which to better understand how the balanced literature approach to reading instruction has come to exist, and the tasks that are part of this philosophy for the teacher. Then, more specific information is examined from the Crowley Independent School District regarding how the balanced literacy framework is implemented within that district. In addition, various curriculum documents are discussed in order to better understand how the CISD implements its balanced literacy program. Furthermore, the professional development and support for the reading initiative that occurs at the district and campus levels is discussed, along with the leadership that is provided within the schools to help teachers successfully carry out the balanced literacy program. As part of this view that reading was a conditioned or even programmed behavior in children, phonics became the primary way in which reading instruction occurred in schools. Researchers believed that teaching phonics provided a way in which children would learn the basic components of language, and would be able to improve reading skills in a logical manner. I said, Well, that s what I want to do when I grow up. (DeVeaux, 35) Cannonball Adderley said these words when he first saw Coleman Hawkins with the Fletcher Henderson band at the City Auditorium in Tampa, Florida. Just as Hawkins influenced one of the greatest alto players in history, he has influenced many people to become phenomenal saxophone players. After completing the observations, anti bias curriculum is a must to reflect the cultural and background of the families and children in the program. Many families I work with are low income. My goal is to create an environment where children and families from different backgrounds can feel comfortable and belonging. I would like to work closely with families and provide the support that they may need. There are countless ways biased against low income families. A large part of the mold is just plain incorrect. Most people believe that the poor are poor because of their own shortcomings instead inequitable access to services and opportunities. There are litanies of stereotypes towards poor people, such as poor people are lazy and uneducated. They are alcoholics and drug addicts. They do not want to work and depend on social welfare system. They don t know how to teach their children and let them run wild and dirty. Poor people don t have knowledge and good for labor but nothing else. Other common stereotypes about the poor show that they are inattentive and, as a result, parents are not effective. Low income parents or guardians who do not attend parent teacher meetings can become the target of stereotyping, or worse, getting blamed by those educators. Legalization would end the exaggerated well paid drug business, and bring to the surface the existing black market. The solution would dramatically reduce the price of drugs, the high costs of drug production, and trading which includes prohibition. Many people have died from mining for various reasons such as the collapse of the mines as well as respiratory diseases caused by mining. Governments across the globe continue to implement regulations for the miners and populations surrounding the mines, but they have failed to eliminate health risks related to mining, which is nearly impossible. Mining permits used to be easy to obtain but under the Obama administration, the United States Environmental Protection Agency began conducting more reviews and now they have issued comprehensive guidance which was designed to strengthen requirements regarding mountain top removal (MTR) and other surface mining products (Holzman 2011). The more an organism is exposed to coal mining, the more health problems they will face. • 22. Theme Of Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown Symbolism within Young Goodman Brown Within many Gothic works, symbolism is profoundly used, especially in the tale of Young Goodman Brown written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Was Faith his innocent companion or his trust in his religion? Why does Faith wear pink ribbons, innocence much like that of a child or a deep symbolic meaning? Deception is yet another symbol within this tale, because not everything is as it seams. By Faith, representation of colors, and deception, Hawthorne demonstrates Gothic symbolism within his tale of Young Goodman Brown . Faith is trust and belief in someone or something, mainly within religious practices. However, Faith has also become a popular name. Within the passage, Faith is the name of Goodman Brown s wife. In the beginning, Faith desperately begs Brown to stay at home instead of departing on the journey for the reason that Faith was timid and scared to death. However, as most men do, he does not listen and went on his expedition anyways; he left his dear Faith behind. By leaving his wife Faith, Brown also leaves behind his actual faith in God on his journey in to the forest (Stoehr 393). Therefore, in his short story Hawthorne symbolizes Brown s wife as his own faith. By leaving her, it demonstrates him leaving not only his wife, but his faith. Pink is an innocent hue of color, is it not? In addition to being a symbol within the passage, Goodman Brown s wife Faith wears pink ribbons in her hair. At first glance, pink is a ... • 24. Taking a Look at Intrusion Detection Intrusion Detection Intrusion detection is similar in concept to a burglar alarm on a car. There is the lock system to prevent access to a car, similar to a firewall, and there is the alarm system, the intrusion detection system. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are there to compliment the network or computers firewall, if or when there is a breach, it is the IDS that is able to identify it and then alert the administrator. Firewalls are an effective way for filtering information coming in to your network from the internet and are a good source of protection, but there are ways to circumvent a firewall which could leave you defenseless. An IDS monitors the firewall for breaches and also monitors the traffic on the organizations network for any anomalies. This is important in the instance of an external user connecting to an organizations infrastructure by connecting through an installed modem on the network, this form of attack cannot be caught by a firewall but an IDS is able to recognize the abnormal activity and report the intrusion to an administrator. Intrusion detection systems are there to help an information system prepare for and deal with attacks. They collect information from a variety of system and network sources and then analyze the information and activity logs searching for information on potential security problems. Introduction In 2011, Operation Unified Protector performed air strikes over Libya, destabilizing the country and enabling the murder of Libya s dictator of 42 years, Colonel Muammar al Gaddafi. The United Nations Security Council justified the Libya Intervention for NATO allies on the grounds of an imminent humanitarian crisis that was thought to occur at the direction of Gaddafi. Yet, the story of Victor Frankenstein s creature is not one strictly of science, or of a caution against it, or of a vendetta against the popular Calvinist belief of predestination. What Victor Frankenstein, and Mary Shelley, created for the world was a story of how far a man dared go with the forbidden flame greater natural knowledge that was spreading amongst mankind. The unique blend of science to create a monster so akin to the undead vampire or spirits created a new form of supernatural, the kind of supernatural that was manmade. Frankenstein, with its meeting of the modern Prometheus and the leading strict Calvinist faith, created such controversy, which led Shelley to vastly revise the work in a second edition; the novel stood as a stepping stone into and out of the Romantic works, with intensity of emotion and the new aesthetic of the sublime, but the continuing message of Mary Shelley s work not of the dangers of man overcoming God maintained the difference between what could be done and what should be done, in the most cautionary way. National security requirements exercised the most significant influence on the development of airpower in Europe and the United States before the Second World War (WWII). Nations on both sides of the ocean had experienced the multifaceted disastrous results of World War I (WWI) and airpower seemed to be the answer for future wars. Understanding the context and consequences of WWI is vital to comprehend airpower theorists like Douhet, Mitchell and Trenchard and their revolutionary thoughts on airpower. The development of aircraft at the beginning of the twentieth century challenged not only military leadership but also, more important, the national security of modern states. The basic question was: How will strategic bombing of enemy territory fit in to national security and military strategy? This paper will narrow the view on Europe by selecting Great Britain as one of the most relevant nations in WWII concerning strategic bombing. WWI was the first total war in the industrial age with unprecedented casualties on all sides of the belligerent nations. In spite of gigantic troop numbers, both sides expected a quick war with a decisive victory. However, in 1915, the maneuvering part of the war was over and resulted ultimately in bloody trench warfare. Industrial Of The Industrial Revolution Jason Thibodeaux Mrs. Martinez English IV, 1st hour 4/29/16 The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution set people away from farms and small villages and moved them to cities and towns because of the job opportunities that arose in the cities. The Industrial Revolution not only helped people move along in the late 1700s and early 1800s but also it has made the people what they are today. During the Industrial Revolution, the movement from an agrarian society to an industrial one reshaped the roles of families, widen the gap between classes, and led to the developments in communication, transportation, and other scientific fields that completely changed humanity. The Industrial Revolution started in the late 1700s and early 1800s which helped the transition from agrarian to one of industrial. People believe that the neighborhoods where hispanics live are very dangerous and these places are not safe to travel through. The vignette, Those Who Don t, detail this problem, Those who don t know any better come to our neighborhood scared. They think that we are dangerous... But watch us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity shake and our car windows get rolled up tight and out eye look straight (Cisneros 28). • 37. The violence in lack of translation, interpretation by translators, culture betrayal and existence of encoded language only familiar to insiders are some of the issues that seems not to appeal to the translators. The sufferings and subordination of both the culture and language by the leading culture is accompanied by other elements that erupt from unconscious of the book s author to make things work for its conscious signification. The author says that [The poem is] Pretty in Spanish. But you ll have to take my word for it. In English it just sounds goofy. The untranslatability of the Spanish language, the unpronounceability of Spanish and Amerindian name and the invisibility of silencing of Chicanos are all figured out by Sandra. Langston Hughes Salvation Essay example Langston Hughes Salvation In most people s lives, there comes a point in time where their perception changes abruptly; a single moment in their life when they come to a sudden realization. In Langston Hughes Salvation , contrary to all expectations, a young Hughes is not saved by Jesus, but is saved from his own innocence. Salvation is the story of a young boy who has an experience of revelation. While attending a church revival, he comes to the sudden realization that Jesus will not physically come save him. And it is almost impossible not to feel the warmth contained in the ?hot, crowded church? (181). In short, the technique used by Hughes is set to put the reader in the same ambiance the young boy is in, thus giving us a closer look at his innocence. The innocence shown by the young boy at the beginning of the story can be attributed to many factors, the main reason being his Auntie Reed. She goes on talking for days about the big revival. Just like any other kid would, Hughes listens and believes word for word what his aunt tells him: ?She said you could see and hear and feel Jesus in your soul.? (181) This naivete is characteristic of youths of that age group. After all, he ?heard a great many old people say the same thing? (181) and it seemed to him ?they ought to know? (181). With all the hype and anticipation surrounding this event, Hughes is certain something is bound to happen. His disappointment is manifested when he does not literally see Jesus. From what he has been told, Hughes is expecting to see a human incarnation of Jesus. He is actually more than just expecting to see him; he badly wants to be saved! Seeing Westley give up so carelessly, triggers an awkward feeling inside of Hughes. The thought that Jesus is not going to show up after all is starting to grow. He asked those whom her referred to as the scientific senate of the church that they serve the truth. This is a theme of high interest for the church since revelation contains its own teachings concerning nature and the origin of man. The medium of the painting is oil on canvas. The scale, although not specified, appears to be about a couple feet high and a couple feet long. The general subject matter is Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. It seems to be before they have discovered the forbidden fruit. The figures seem to be embracing everything the garden has to offer, they seem content and comfortable in their own skin. Immediately, my eyes are drawn to Adam and Eve, for they are the largest figures in the painting. All of the characters are stylized to the tune of what the artist wants, for his figures, including the animals, are shown as very muscular, not very naturalistic. This is similar to Michelangelo s characters, he believed that the mans body is the pinnacle of god s creation, using the male body as the body of all of his characters, men and women included. These figures are also similar to the Greeks, who were very focused on the human body. The color used in this painting is not too obvious, it seems like a pretty dark colored painting when first looking at it. After further examination, I started to notice more colors that are throughout the piece. There is blue, which is part of the angel s garment. In religious paintings, blue often symbolizes a sort of heavenly grace. This blue is also seen in the sky surrounding the figures, perhaps another symbol suggesting that Adam and Eve still have their innocence, for they are surrounded by a heavenly grace. White is also seen in the painting, both as a part of the angel s wings and the clouds in the sky. White often symbolizes purity and innocence, yet another symbol that shows Adam and Eve have not yet been shamed from the garden. Another major color that stands out more than anything else is red, which is seen in the animals right next to Adam and Eve. This could possibly represent the presence ... • 46. Evolution Of The Internet And Network Protocols The Evolution of the Internet and Network Protocols The internet has revolutionized the modern world like no other invention has before, except perhaps, electricity. The internet allows sharing and collaboration to take place between people on opposite sides of the globe. Vinton G. Cerf, often called the Father of the Internet , admits that when the original idea of an intranet was in its infancy, there was no possible way to imagine all of the ways we would come to use it (NDTV, 2013). But how does it work? The internet, based on the concept of packet switching , involves the travelling of small packets of data over one or more networks (Frenzel, 2013). This can be compared to electronic postcards , meaning that a computer generates a piece of data and flings it into the net, just like the postal system, except 100 million times faster (Cerf, 2013). This concept allows one computer to speak to many different computers around the network by sending out these electronic postcards . However, before these networks can work seamlessly together, they must use a common protocol, or set of rules for transmitting and receiving these packets of data. There are several protocols currently in use, including the OSI Model, the TCP/IP Model, UDP, HTTP, and FDP (Mitchell, 2014), but the most commonly used is Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (Gilmer, 2011). Even as early as 1977, TCP/IP was being used by other networks to link to ARPANET (Kozierok, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing compares to the harmonies and musicianship put into this song. Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975. This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground of the mid 70s Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He wrote the song in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song using a structure that leans towards a more classical approach. In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which were initiating throughout this era) and took them to another level. Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental line up of Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were something completely new and in doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of rock music. Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned them a glam rocker tag. The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced to the practice of an untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do with Freddie coming out as a homosexual.
