Tumor Suppression Genes Research Paper
Tumor Suppression Genes
Introduction
Cell replication and division is vital for growth and development. The mechanisms associated with
replication of DNA are very precise. However, there can be errors at times and when these errors
occur there could be problems in reproduction process. Some of these errors can cause uncontrolled
cell growth causing tumor formation. There are genes within the human genome that prevent this
uncontrolled growth from occurring. These genes are known as tumor suppression genes. They work
in a very specific way and are vital for proper growth. Though they fix errors, the tumor suppression
genes can malfunction or be malformed at times as well. When these errors occur, there can be serious
consequences.

Oncogenes are genes that work in the opposite way of tumor suppression genes. They cause
uncontrolled growth of cells and are activated when tumor suppression genes become inactive. An
example of this can be found in the mutation that causes Retinoblastoma. This is a condition that is
found within the eye which is caused by a malfunctioning tumor suppression gene. The tumor
suppression gene that malfunctions in retinoblastoma is the RB1 gene. This malfunction causes the
activation of oncogenes. This ultimately leads to cells in the retina growing uncontrollably and
causing tumors and cancer to develop in the eye.
Tumor Suppression Genes and Caner Recently, a lot of research is being done involving tumor
suppression genes and cancer. Scientists have been testing tumor suppression genes in gene therapy
experiments. In these experiments the tumor suppression genes are injected into cancer cells and
tumors. These genes are able to causes the cancer cell to die via apoptosis. Though it has yet to
become a treatment for cancer, the future looks promising using this method.

The Gospel Of The Apostles Of Jesus
From the time when Jesus ascended into heaven to the present day, Jesus sovereignly works through
His children to continue to spread the gospel. For a time, the apostles of Jesus did not have either
Jesus with them or His Spirit. During this time, though, the eleven apostles continued to seek God
even as they chose a new apostle to take the place of Judas Iscariot. The apostles of Jesus spent this
time waiting but not waiting and doing nothing. They prayed and worshiped God together. During one
of the times of worship and prayer, the Spirit of God descended upon each one of them. Empowered
by the Spirit, they went out preaching and telling people about Jesus in all different languages as the
Spirit gave them utterance. As they were preaching, Peter stood up and addressed the gathering crowd
and began to preach about Jesus and the crowd s need for Him. As Peter preached, God pricked many
in their hearts and they were convicted of their sins. After Peter s sermon, many were baptized. During
the time after this, the apostles continued to make new disciples of Jesus through the power of the
Spirit. The Spirit was working mightily through the apostles. Just like before, the apostles and the
disciples gathered together to worship and to pray to God. During these gatherings, they partook of the
Lord s Supper. They fellowshipped and gathered many times. God continued to add to their fellowship
daily as many as were called. As the message of Jesus spread to many people, the growth

Fueled By The National Momentum For Social Reform During
Fueled by the national momentum for social reform during the post World War II era, the United
Kingdom restructured their health care system in 1946 to a socialized form where the federal
government both regulates and administers universal health care to its residents through the National
Health Service program. General income taxes fund the entirety of this health care program and the
single payer nature of this system has eliminated the need for insurance companies since the federal
government directly finances every British resident s medical bills at the time of their treatment. The
National Health Service provides health care coverage for all 64.6 million residents of Great Britain
which removes the financial burden of individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the name implies, the National Health Service provides health care services to only permanent
residents and any international visitors, including British born citizens, must pay a package rate for
health care treatment that the government predetermines. The Washington Post s assessment of Great
Britain s health care system reveals that this package rate that foreign visitors must pay for basic
medical procedures is significantly inexpensive when compared with other industrialized countries.
According to the gov.uk website, this National Health Service even provides immediate coverage to
new immigrants by making them pay a surcharge as part of their immigration application to enter into
the system. Since a majority of health care treatments in Britain are fully covered by the National
Health Service, T.R. Reid in the PBS documentary, Sick Around the World , explains that no British
residents fall into bankruptcy due to an inability to pay medical bills. The nhs.uk website further
highlights the wide scope of health care coverage that the National Health Service provides by
explaining how patients receive inpatient and outpatient hospital care, physician services, preventive
treatments, diagnostic screenings, pediatric care, emergency care, nursing facilities, long term care,
and end of life care without any out of pocket payments. Despite being one of the top five of the

One weekend I was at my dad s house watching Power Rangers on the TV in the family room. He
repeatedly called my name, but I did not hear him. My step mother came in there to tell me that my
dad had been calling me and he was in the kitchen. When I walked into the kitchen, his voice
resonated, Did you hear me calling you? I replied, No. He balled up his fist and socked me in the
middle of my chest. I grabbed my chest and dropped to the floor crying. I could not believe what
happened because I did not hear him calling my name. I did not understand why did he punch me in
my chest. He then said, The next time I call you, you better answer me. When my dad dropped me off
at our designated spot, his way of saying goodbye traumatized me. He grabbed my hand and squeezed
it. With the palm of his hand touching the palm of my hand, he wrapped his four fingers around until

Reflection On Volunteering At Ruth Fyfe Elementary School
For my community service project I will be volunteering at Ruth Fyfe Elementary School. After
contacting the school s administration I was assigned to 3 different classes. My first challenge was to
work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I also had to
help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for students to listen. I was a
personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe
is an elementary on W Bonanza Rd, pretty much on the other side of town. In my assigned 3rd grade
class I didn t exactly participate with every student equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the
students because some students cared more than others. I loved how some students were mentally
engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if
they were incorrect. The 4th grade class was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference
in regards to maturity. I was assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). The
4th graders were more literate, however they still struggled. I tried my best to help them with their
reading, but I can only help to an extent because I have a problem with reading fast as well. In

them to be exposed to successful people. Successful meaning the person has made it to college. In the
4th grade class, college was a huge focal point (well while I was there anyways). Students can use me
as a template for success. Overall, schools would see an increase in student productivity and

Emotional, Emotional And Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence Explained
Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to assess, identify and influence the emotions of your own and
everyone around you. For an example, a employee could be having difficulty understanding the task at
hand instead the manager goes to the employee and identifies the misunderstanding and instead of
letting the situation make everyone stress the manager instead reiterated what needs to be done in a
simpler way so everyone is clearly aware and understands what to do. Another example of Emotional
Intelligence is when two people do not see eye to eye on a subject instead of screaming at one another
and storming off they instead speak without screaming and address the main concerns without
arguing. The whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helps cut down on losing employees to the competition and also allows your employees to see
that you care about their wellbeing. Generally, when employees know this then they will, in turn,
provide the best quality of work that they can and also tend to be dedicated to the company for the
long haul.
Next reason why emotional intelligence is so important is when is comes to customers, you need to be
able to provide sympathy towards your customers if they are going through a rough patch or a tough
time. For an example a gas station is doing a remodel at the store which makes them lose out on their
normal sales volume the vendors that sell their product at that store need to understand that the
problem is temporary, not permanent as things go it s just a simple remodel then they gas station will
be back to running to its full potential. A simple fix would be to adjust the supply to reflect the current
sales since the establishment is not at it s full operational status. By doing this you do not lose your
customer or even make your customer upset with your company. Instead, this allows you to keep a
long term upbeat customer.
Speculate on Consequences when to not use Emotional Intelligence
There are two simple reasons why leaders and managers should not use emotional intelligence that I
can think of one would be when an employee is not being the

Gouging And Virtue
There is always a debate when it comes to price gouging and virtue because it can cause many
problems/dilemma in our society. Price gouging occurs when goods and services are being charged
more than the normal amount, which happens in a natural disaster. An example that was mentioned in
the book was that in the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, generators that go for $250 were now raised
to $2000 (Sandel, 2009, p. 3). The concept of virtue is what society wants to encourage in a
community such as good traits or qualities of character which are accepted. (Sandel, 2009, p. 7).
According to Sandel, virtue is a principle which is used as a decision making to determine what s right
and wrong in a society. The concept of virtue applies to price gouging

Slavery Abolition Act In The 19th Century
On the 1st August 1838, enslaved men, women, and children in Britain became free and liberated,
however slavery did not end with the passing of the Slavery Abolition Act in the 19th century.
This booklet intends to inform the public on modern slavery in Britain. The main points of focus will
be to outline the implications of modern slavery, the current law prohibiting slavery and whether it can
be prevented in Britain. Human trafficking is one of the most common forms of slavery and will
subsequently be analysed in greater detail.
Typically, slavery is when a person controls or has ownership of another person for exploitation, and is
a crime against a person s dignity and an abuse of their fundamental human rights. The United Nations

Police Officers And Their Image Of A Police Officer
Police officers were implemented into society to be protectors of the public and to serve the
community whenever they were in need of help or justice. They are here to enforce the laws of the
land and to keep society safe from any harm. The police are suppose to be our unsung heroes. With
this knowledge, citizens should respect these individuals and trust the officers to implement justice
and protection. However, not all citizens respect the law enforcement or trust them. Many would like
to see police officers like this, but there are a lot that happens in society that make s one rethink their
image of a police officer. There are many people in the community that have negaitve attitudes
towards the police and see them as corrupt or brutal (Brown Benedict, 2002, p. 551). The individuals
that are unfavorable towards the police are those from a low social statues, minorities like blacks,
from areas of high crime, single or divorced or widowed individuals, and especially juveniles.
Juveniles that have had high contact with officers, minorities, tolerance to illegal behavior, and low
socioeconomic group status believe that they are treated unfairly, targeted by the police, and believe
that they were wrongly accused (Janeksela, 1999, p. 314). Juvenile attitudes toward the police is an
important issue to examine because these children are the next generation and outline the perception
of authority to future generations and a negative attitude towards police can lead the youth

Reflection Of A Play Amadeus
On November 30, 2017, I viewed a play called Amadeus, from the comfort of my home. Didn t think I
would like it seeing that this would be my first time ever seeing a play like this one. I was thinking to
myself am I going to like it, will I be able to sit through the whole play without being bored.
Within the first couple of seconds, I was amazed at how the characters from the start of the play really
drew me in with their chanting and the two characters going on and on about the tale of Antonio
Salieri. I liked how they went back and forth about what they heard and who they heard it from. Those
two in my opinion really set the play in motion and gave just enough insight on Salieri to have you on
your toes. In my mind I m asking the same questions, did Salieri really poison Mozart and if so why to
tell it now? I m really into it now just from the first couple minutes.
There wasn t a lot of props which I thought was a great idea, seeing that too many props couple draw
the attention away from the characters. The play had it s really dark moments, like when Salieri first
came on he seems very depressed and angry. My thoughts on Salieri is that he seemed very bitter and
insane but the actor playing Salieri really brought this character to life. He never lost my attention and
seemed very live throughout the entire scene. All the characters did an amazing job and the costumes
really set the time frame. I just have one question, did the men in those times really wear a lot of

Solar Power And Solar Energy
Solar energy is capable of providing a cleaner energy than most forms of energy generation, and solar
energy is able to be generated economically. Solar energy reduces the amount of harm to the
environment from energy generation, by providing a cleaner alternative. Solar energy also provides
jobs for construction and installation of solar powered technologies. The cost of installing solar panels
can vary greatly, but its long term benefits outweigh the costs. Typically a solar panel system is a three
kilowatts to eight kilowatts system that cost fifteen thousand to forty thousand dollars to install, total
cost depends on circumstances of installation. However tax credits and incentives help recoup a
portion of the cost in the first year, the savings of electricity cost makes installing the system
profitable in under 10 years (Maehlum). Purchasing the system requires a large loan, however paying
the loan can be substantially better than paying utility bills when the investment will eventually be
paid for. If the system is large enough to handle the requirements of the household, the only payment
for electricity will be the cost of the loan. Making loan payments instead of paying utility bills is
predictable, and any excess energy will be used as a credit for months were the owner s energy use
may exceed the generated amount. Within10 years of financing the solar panels, the cost of the solar
panels will already made up by the cost savings from not paying for utility

Sitcom Humor Analysis
3.3. Manner The maxim of manner is flouted when the speaker uses ambiguous language or does not
talk properly and understandably (Hu 2012: 1188). Sitcom humour makes use of lexical and
referential ambiguity to flout this maxim for humour (Wu n.d.: 66/67). In the episode, the characters
flout this maxim by using words that others do not know or by using words and phrases which are
lexically ambiguous. When characters use words that others do not know, it either ridicules the
speaker (because they are unable to communicate with others) or the listener (because they have a lack
of knowledge). The humour in lexically ambiguous phrases derives from the phrase s interpretation
either by the characters or the audience. The most obvious way the maxim of manner is flouted is
when a character does not understand a word another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Penny: Yeah, I don t know what that means. Here it is not ambiguity that creates confusion but the fact
that Beverly uses scientific vocabulary that Penny cannot understand. Beverly expects other people to
understand scientific terms. She makes assumptions about her listeners based on her own knowledge.
This maxim is also flouted a couple of times through lexical ambiguity. As seen when Beverly
remarks on the two meanings of little: Penny: What was Leonard like when he was little? Beverly: I
think you mean young. He s always been little. This may also be observed when she and Sheldon talk
to each other and the audience does not know what their conversation is about: Sheldon: So, what do
you think? Beverly: I m very tempted. I m just not sure it s appropriate with my son s roommate.
Sheldon: Normally, I d feel the same way. But based on everything I ve observed about us, I can t help
but speculate we d be very good together. Beverly: True. I ve had a similar observation. It s certainly

Literature Review. John Zachman Is The Person Who Developed
Literature Review John Zachman is the person who developed the idea of using business system
planning in areas other than the traditional ones of business systems. He thought that there should be a
method that would work equally well with aircraft development, ship building, and even sales. He saw
a need for this because of the ever increasing complexity of systems as they grow. John saw that there
was a need for better management of these ever increasingly complex systems. It is increasingly said
that Zachman Framework is not a method but an ontology of how information is collected and

Architecture is the set of descriptive representations that are required in order to create an object
(Zachman, 2007). Representations Rows representing the different perspectives on a product of the
different participants (Herman, 2015). Each perspective is different for the other in that each are
intended and used for a different purpose and for a different audience. This is why each cell within
each row is different and the intent for each cell serves a different purpose depending on that audience
and that purpose. This is not a decomposition ... it is a series of transformations as each stage in the
series has its own unique manifestation with unique characteristics accommodating different purposes
of different participants in the reification process. (Zachman, 2007). Rows describe the processes in an
increasingly complex and detailed description of the process that is to take place in completing the
architecture. Moving down the rolls describe the processes in a more detailed form. Identification is

must strive. Silence is the greatest inhibitor of progression. Silence not only inhibits one from freely

she pushed the Priors hands from her breast he responded, What business has a nun to know that she

A Brief Note On Legislation And Poor Oversight
Cause: deregulatory legislation and poor oversight Since 2001, the Federal Reserve System chose

there are many causes leaded to the financial crisis in the 2008. However, America s macro policy is
definitely the core reason for the financial crisis. Since 1999, America began to release financial
regulation. It made American financial ecological environment break out many problems. For
example, financial derivative instruments occurred changes, value chain became longer and longer,
which leaded to a subprime crisis. Before subprime crisis happened, the American government

trade barriers for developing countries. And it also limited technology products which push the
domestic products price increase and decrease the job opportunities. At the same time, the government
controlled domestic economical innovation power. That is also a main reason of financial crisis.

Some examples for a fire engine would be the testing of the pump, hose, and water tank. While testing
for a fire truck would include testing of ground and Ariel ladders, tools, and generators. Having the
proper preventative maintenance and testing of an apparatus is important, and having all the
maintenance documented is important because it makes sure there is accountability. Documentation of
efforts allows a comprehensive list of all maintenance done to an apparatus. If actions done to an
apparatus are well documented it allows for work to flow smoothly and cuts down on the possibility of
duplication of work. Once all work is done and documented the work is done and the apparatus can be

Sigmund Freud Psychosexual Theory
· Basic Philosophy The basic philosophy is that the sex instinct is the most factor influencing
personality; sexual instinct is present at birth, but it occurs in stages. The sex instinct provides the
driving force for thought and activity. If conflicts from these stages are not resolved fixations may
occur. If overindulgence at a stage may result in a person remaining at that stage. Certain personality
traits develop from difficulty in one stage or another, for instance the anal stage can give the obsession

Essay On Jim Crow
The negative stance of separated but equal laws in the South kept blacks bound to oppression and
despair. In addition, for black communities, separated but equal doctrine, represents bias, racism, and
inequality. Meanwhile, In the eyes of whites, it was considered a crime for blacks to fight for equality
against their former slave owners. Blacks were forced to protest through civil right movements,
demanding equality and justice. The treatment from white southern were so horrific, the struggle for
freedom, claimed many black s lives. But, Supreme Court answered to abolish this unconstitutional
separate but equal doctrine. However, according to the ACLU, this Jim Crow concept is used among
inmates incarcerated in the Los Angeles county jail facilities. The notion that, these inmates are not
willing to integrate among each other is an empirical flawed argument. In the meantime, a temporal
system called TRESS illustrates, the separate but equal, expected to deterrent violence inmates from

Online Community Research Paper
Online communities on Tumblr and elsewhere are leading people into dark places that weren t there
before. People are self identifying with depression. They are confusing their normal and commonplace
emotions and feelings of sadness with this idea that they cannot come out of this dark place in which
they are in. Rather than seeking help from loved ones or medical professionals, they go to these online
communities to be understood, but to be understood, you must be accepted. This is leading young
people, especially females, to cut wrists and perform other instances of self harm, and take pictures to
document their feelings. To further their acceptance, they put quotes like So it s okay for you to hurt

People use the word depression if they can t find their keys, or if they ve had a fight with their mother
or father, or if they ve had an argument with their boyfriend or girlfriend, if they didn t make the
school team or didn t do well on an exam, says adolescent psychiatry expert Dr. Stan Kutcher. When
we use the word depression for every negative emotional state, the word loses its meaning. If people
are overusing the term depression to describe normal, everyday sadness, it takes away from those who
actually suffer from this disease. As a person who has both a grandmother, a cousin, and multiple
friends who suffer from depression, I feel as though this term is offensive. The people in my life take
regularly prescribed medications from their doctors or see therapists on a weekly basis to help them
deal with their issues that they cannot normally deal with on their own as most people can. When they

Is Beowulf A Hero Or Real
Are heroes more heroic and real when they are flawed or perfect? Heroes are supposed to be real and

would win? In the film Beowulf, he goes through trials and temptations. The hero also makes many

Synopsis of the Movie Young Guns
The scene that I will be discussing for this paper is called He s a spy from the movie Young Guns. In
this scene, Billy and his gang are confronted by Murphy s men. With the mise en scene, this helps the
viewer identify that the time period being portrayed here is the late 1870 s or the early 1880 s. The
mise en scene being used for this movie is important in telling the story from a different era as in
today s world, no one dresses this way anymore. Also to include from this scene is the lighting. I will
attempt to give an explicit description of the use of the lighting and the sun and how the
cinematographer designed for the use of it. Furthermore, I will also discuss the people that are directly
involved with the making of Young Guns, the director, the production designer and the art director and
their roles and responsibilities.
In this scene, the mise en scene used is mostly natural. Using the background of the desert, the brush
gives the sense that the time of the year is cold outside. The brush is only that of the branches with no
vegetation, the time of year could be anywhere from October to March. Also in the background is a
river, which sits in a calm motionless manner, indicating that the wind is at rest. Along with the natural
surroundings as the mise en scene, other indicators of the time era are the costumes that the actors are
wearing, along with rifles and pistols as well as the horses that represent the old west. The actor s
costumes are what we see and

The Syrian Conflict Of Syria
The Syrian Conflict The conflict in Syria began in March 2011 in Deraa after multiple teenagers who
painted revolution slogans on a school wall were apprehended and later tortured by the Syrian
government. Pro democracy protests broke out and security forces began shooting at protestors and
multiple were killed, which truly sparked the beginning of the conflict. More protests went on
throughout the nation calling for President Assad to step down and after he did not, by July 2011, there
were hundreds of protestors taking the streets across the country demanding he resign. As more time
passed and no change was made, the country eventually broke into a civil war as rebels were battling
the government forces for control of land. The fighting expanded through out the country, reaching the
capital Damascus as well as the important city of Aleppo. By August of 2015, over 250,000 were
killed and that number has only increased by now. The United States and Russia are both involved in
this issue, as the U.S is backing the rebel forces to try to remove Assad from power, but Russia is
backing Assad and providing aid to his campaign. Not only is it a battle between rebel forces as well
as government forces, but also new dimensions such ISIS, a rising jihadist group, added a new
dimension. The Islamic State has taken advantage of the chaos and has gained large areas of land in
Syria and Iraq. ISIS not only poses a threat to the people of Syria, but also the people of the United

The San Antonio Art Museum
The exhibition that I viewed at the San Antonio Art Museum was called 28 Chinese . This exhibit was
based on the artwork of 28 contemporary Chinese artists. Throughout the exhibit, it was discussing the
fall of communism, poverty, the essence of time, resistance, rebellion and the conservation of history.
Some of the artwork I saw were created by Zhu Jinshi, Qiu Zhijie, Zhang Huan, and Shang Yixin, just
to name a few. The exhibit was on two floors of the museum. When I first entered the exhibit, it led
me to a big white room with art being displayed on all walls. The first room was based on the Coca
Cola project in which there was a tall case of Coca Cola bottles being displayed right when you walk
in. To the right was a clear box that held burnt down Coca Cola bottles. These items being displayed
made me want to read about the project since it was a familiar company that most people know. Some
of the other rooms were structured differently. Some had sculptures, audio visuals, interactive pieces
and others had modified furniture but every piece of art had a description next to it which told who the
artist was as well as the meaning of the art itself. The materials used for some of the art works
included wood, bamboo, and rice paper. The second floor to the exhibit is mostly abstract art work.
The overall theme of this was to express their preservation of Chinese culture being good and bad
aspects through art. In order for each piece of artwork to convey their purpose,

Rate Of Reaction Lab
The results and that were obtained in this lab are fairly reliable and reasonable. This is because if you
refer back to Graph 1.1 for example it is clear that there is a relative and steady increase in the rate of
reaction as the concentration of catalase was increased. Although in part A, the results were fairly
reliable and they clearly show the average increase in part B, one can see that the results that were
obtained during the experiment were outliers of each other. Looking back at the table from part B
when the 80% concentration of catalase was placed into the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide + 10% Copper II
Sulphate the results of time it took for the filter disk to reach the top seemed to be unreasonable. In

In the comparison of the two reactions occurring with the 80% in part A and B it makes sense that the
rate of reaction in part B is slower because of the non competitive inhibitor that was acting upon the
catalase. But, the rate of reaction seems to be too low for the result too be realistic indicating a human
error and causing it to be slightly unreliable. Failing to change the hydrogen peroxide from part A to a
new solution in part B may be an example of human error. An experimental error that may have
affected the results obtained during the experiment was the labs failure to mention to mix the two
substances, hydrogen peroxide and copper II sulphate in part B. Failure to mention this simple
instruction may have led to the outliers in time retrieved in part B for the experiment. In the first trial
when the filter timed out at 240 seconds at the bottom of the beaker, it may have been caused by the
un dissolved copper II sulphate still at the bottom of the beaker. Another experimental error was that
during the experiment it was stated that if one was able to hurry and do the first two trials quickly then
there may be time for a third

Strategic Management Process
STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PROCESSS
Strategic or institutional management is the conduct of drafting, implementing and evaluating cross
functional decisions that will enable an organization to achieve its long term objectives[1]. It is the
process of specifying the organization s mission, vision and objectives, developing policies and plans,
often in terms of projects and programs, which are designed to achieve these objectives, and then
allocating resources to implement the policies and plans, projects and programs. A balanced scorecard
is often used to evaluate the overall performance of the business and its progress towards objectives.
Strategic management is a level of managerial activity under setting goals and over Tactics. Strategic

An organization, with a effective management, should try to implement its plans without signaling the
fact to its competitors.[3]
In order for a policy to work, there must be a level of consistency from every person in an
organization, including from the management. This is what needs to occur on the tactical level of
management as well as strategic.
Strategy evaluation
Measuring the effectiveness of the organizational strategy, it s extremely important to conduct a
SWOT analysis to figure out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (both internal and
external) of the entity in question. This may require to take certain precautionary measures or even to
change the entire strategy.
In corporate strategy, Johnson and Scholes present a model in which strategic options are evaluated
against three key success criteria:
Suitability (would it work?)
Feasibility (can it be made to work?)
Acceptability (will they work it?)
[Suitability
Suitability deals with the overall rationale of the strategy. The key point to consider is whether the
strategy would address the key strategic issues underlined by the organisation s strategic position.
Does it make economic sense?
Would the organisation obtain economies of scale, economies of scope or experience economy?
Would it be suitable in terms of environment and capabilities?
Tools that can be used to evaluate suitability include:
Ranking strategic

Tudor Rebellion Research Paper
Using the four sources in their historical context, assess how far they support the view that Somerset

meant a secure position on the throne and the position as the monarchy. To be able to have security
and stability on the throne you needed trust, support and good relationships with other countries, if
any of these factors are threatened then the stability of the monarch is also threatened. During the mid
Tudor crisis, there are theories which question whether the monarchy was actually threatened of their
stability or not. The sources A and B both support that Somerset did threaten stability and C and D

The Importance Of Alcohol Advertisements
In the world of media, companies love to brand their products through advertisements. Companies use
radio broadcasts, billboards, television and in apps online. One of the biggest industries in Australia
and in Brisbane, Queensland is Alcohol. The most common way alcohol is advertised is through
television and a big danger is that anyone can see this advertisement. This often leaves lasting
impressions on people. It often hard to avoid seeing these advertisements being that they are at train
stations, on busses, at gas stations, at local pubs, and all over radio and television. Australians love
cracking a cold one, it has become a part of the Australian culture for more than a decade now.
Alcohol advertisements have become as popular as throwing shrimp on the barbie. Alcohol
advertisements need to be banned in Australia because of the increasing numbers in underage drinking
alcohol related diseases and deaths.
Brisbane needs to ban the promotion of alcohol advertisements because of the increasing number in
underage drinking. Underage drinking has become a serious dilemma in Brisbane over the past
decade. Teens as young as 13 years old are getting their hands on alcohol and are abusing it. This
abuse to young teens is detrimental to them physically, they can have serious physical effects ranging

Eden by Design is a captivating read. A replica of the never adopted 1930 Olmsted Bartholomew

essence of the book. Going through the introductory parts made me realize that had this plan, which
itself is extraordinary in its latitude and farsightedness, been implemented the congestive mass of
concrete that represents Los Angeles in the modern times could have been avoided. To start with, the
one element I liked the most about this plan is the parkways. It was important for Los Angeles to have
a system of continuous landscaped parkways dedicated to pleasure travel and to act as lungs for a
rather polluted city. Even though after going through the plan, I m not quite adamant on the fact that

The Argument Of Mats, By Managing Culture
INTRODUCTION
This paper seeks to support the argument of Mats Alvesson that by managing culture, it is possible to
facilitate positive outcomes beneficial to stakeholders in an organization. It also suggests that
employers and employees can have mutually beneficial relationship and achieve organizational
performance. To analyse and evaluate the argument, it is important to define and understand the
concept of culture and control .
2.0 DEFINITION OF CULTURE
According to Schien (2010), culture is how we are supposed to feel and act in a given society or
organization which has been taught by various social experiences as a way to maintain social order.
Schuller et al (2012) also defined culture as the way of behaving and believing that a ... Show more

Control is an important function that managers must perform to ensure things are moving in the right
direction and to keep errors at the barest minimum. Control ensures effectiveness and efficiency in an
organization.
FORMS OF CONTROL
There are various forms of control which include;
Behavioural Control
This is a form of control where managers closely monitor what employees do and have penalties for
disobedience. For Example, where employees have to clock in and out in an organisation or have a
dress code at work.
Cultural Control
Here, employees have a personal relationship with the organisation and support the organisations
goals and objectives. Oftentimes, employees are unaware that management influences the way they
behave. For example, spme organisations provide all facilities like the gym, nursery, cafes in one
building to always employees at work
Social Control
THEORIES OF EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS
It is indeed possible to achieve organizational outcomes beneficial to employees and shareholders. To
determine this, it is pertinent to discuss the forms of employment relations. Firstly;
Unitarist Theory
This theory assumes that the management of an organization has the right and authority to lead and,

Spanked Children Research Paper
Agree or Disagree: Children should not be spanked in order to discipline them for a negative behavior
Today, in the era of human rights, while the rights of children are officially recognized by international
bodies, corporal punishment have not disappeared. According to a survey conducted in 2005 by the
School of Psychology on behalf of UNICEF, violence against children worldwide spares no social
category: it is present in the streets, in charitable institutions, of course, in the family. It appears indeed
concluded this inquiry as an educational method and a culturally accepted way of social regulation.
According to the same study, many parents admitted beating their children, some admit lecturing and
another minority resort to punishments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will find in the spanked kids a physical and verbal form of aggression against others: classmate,
family members, friends etc... it is like an expression of all frustration accumulated by spanked and
frustrated child. Another study published in the Akron Law Review examined criminal records and
found that children raised where a legal ban on parental corporal punishment is in effect are much
more likely to be involved in crime. When kids and spanked or abuse in their childhood are spanked,
they develop a hatred. The immediate consequence in their adolescence is physical aggression. It is
the most common in the adolescent behavior and are likely to result in physical injury. The most
extreme form of violence is a homicide. Thus, fights involving weapons and fights by teenagers old
enough to be able to inflict serious injuries are what see in the street every day. So finally spanked
kids destroy them more than it help them to behave as parents would like to. It is why it is better to
choose a different way to help kids to understand and to learn what is acceptable and what is not. In
fact Dozens of countries have banned parental corporal punishment, such as Germany, Italy, and in
2007 New Zealand, which use force to correct children causes complete criminal penalties, and where
the mother cannot even legally take the hand of her child to bring it where it refuses to go. And
according to Krisha McCoy, discipline is a way of teaching children the restraint and values necessary
to become competent and independent adults. When our child behaves negatively, the best way to
teach him the positive behavior should be for example to explain what is wrong in his behavior, then
explain or show with examples what is better to do. Also and the explanation of the reasons of positive
behaviors regarding others, environments, society, laws, rules. And the consequences of not doing this
way or of doing

Women s Rights In The Early 1900s
In terms of having rights in the 20th century, women were very limited. They were mostly considered
as housekeepers, mothers, spouses, and could not be equal to men. The main goal of this segment is to
illustrate women Abolitionism. After many researches into their background, women in the early 1900
where useless in the society and to gain their equality, they went into a serious battlefield which
caused a civil right movement just to meet their goals. Throughout the time, women have often found
themselves forced to take steps back, socially, politically, and economically. They had no rights to
vote, work, and mostly considered as spouses, mothers, and housekeepers. According to

The, New Jersey, York Jersey And Asbury Park
A mural is more than just a painting on the wall. Murals bring together a sense of community and
make the city a more welcoming place. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the word mural
means a painting or other work of art that is directly executed on to a wall. In many aspects, murals
originated from graffiti, which comes from the Latin word graffio, meaning scratching or scribbling.
Mural Arts programs are popping up in cities across the nation. However, I decided to focus on two
cities that were closer to home for me. I focused my research on Newark and Asbury Park, New
Jersey, in comparison to Philadelphia, PA. All of which, are cities that are not the nicest, but with the
help of murals are becoming more welcoming places.
Newark, New Jersey, is the home to 100 s of murals lining the streets. Travelling up route 21 along the
Amtrak train station resides over one mile of hand painted murals, the second longest mural in the
country. This mural is known as The Portraits Mural. It was painted by 17 different artists and depicts
multiple styles and images that are meant to reflect the culture of Newark. Newark is also home to the
City Without Walls project. Mayor Ras Baraka stated, Portraits celebrates the uniqueness and oneness
of our city (Mazzola). In addition, it is stated that the murals honor the history, cultural intersections
and narratives of every day life within the city of Newark. Portraits was painted as part of the Gateway
effort. The

Positive Principles Of Confucianism
To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put
the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our
personal life, we must first set our hearts right.
(Confucius)
The words above belong to Confucius, who was one of the most respected philosophers of all time. He
founded a social and political system of philosophy, and transmitted his ideas to a group of disciplines.
His teachings were later collected in a book known as the Analects by his followers. Confucius is
arguably the most influential person in Chinese history, and the effects of his teachings still remain
today. In short, Confucius was a Chinese philosopher and political ... Show more content on

For example, he cared much about being respectful and loyal to one s parents. Also, he defended that
women must be obedient towards their husband, and men must protect their wives. Another Confucian
family ritual is to value children, and to care about the word of the elderly women in family. These are
the examples of Confucian family rituals, and these rituals were already existed in Chinese family
system before Confucius, too. Confucius expressed these traditions in a clear and impressive way. As
a result of this, the Confucian family rituals have reached up to the present day , and they are still
being complied today. Women and men are still expected to be respectful and protective, children are
still highly valued, and elderly are still powerful within in the family today in China. In conclusion,
the family system of China today was organized by Confucius, and his teachings of family rituals are
the rituals that has been used before Confucius, by the time of Confucius, and after him up to

Cisko Kid
O Henry s A Caballero s Way features people s interest for a postal service in order to get to its needs.
People s interest goes back when the Cisko Kid was around in the Valley. Unfortunately back then
there was a horrible postal service. Poor Tonia that sent that letter to the Lieutenant Sandridge in
regards of the Cisko kid. Back then she could not send it to an actual true and known service, instead
she had to send to some ordinary kid not an expert on the system. The service that the little kid
provided is definitely to what the Former US Postal Service of Hidalgo, TX. can certainly provide
today. It was a stormy starry night in the town of Hidalgo. US Postal Office of Hidalgo, Tx. There was

and the cars massive speakers sound coming out of them, makes the place goes from adventurous to

is what interrupts the place. Wanting to hear the rain hitting the pavement and the umbrella. It makes
the place a sound of a rustic and old place to a modern place. In The Caballero s Way Cisko keeps
singing his conventional song Don t you monkey with my Lulu girl, or I ll tell you what I ll do .

The Universe Of International Sports
In the realm of international sports, for centuries and centuries, no one took into account the sexual
orientations of athletes. For instance, the juxtaposition of the European based sport rugby, versus
purely Americanized sports such as football and basketball in the way these communities have
responded to their athletes coming out of the closet. In any American sport, there is media attention
and moral and social questions of whether these individuals are still capable of playing the sport
without interference. These circumstances change drastically when considering Gareth Thomas, the
highly esteemed Welsh professional rugby union and rugby league player. The extreme differences in
the United Kingdom and the United States reflect the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By describing Thomas s physical attributes Smith reinforces that the orientation of a player should not
have an impact on the sport or the opinions of any spectators. Throughout the world, rugby is
perceived as a tough, manly, and masculine sport, as is American football. Where European rugby and
American sports are distinctly separated is the responses and the way that gay players are treated.
Thomas s coming out was a positive experience, yet the experience and treatment of outly gay Jason
Collins and Michael Sam is exceedingly worse than any European athletes. The United States and the
European countries, specifically the United Kingdom, stand at opposite ends of their abilities to accept
gay athletes. Therefore, throughout the United Kingdom, Thomas has received immense support from
fans, it is almost inevitable that he would get media attention as well. In comparison to Gareth Thomas
s positive outcome of coming out in the sports world, Jason Collins, an African American N.B.A. star,
has struggled with the consequences of coming out in a sports league. From the minute Jason Collins
came out publicly, he struggled significantly with being accepted by avid fans as well as his own
teammates and coaches. In a New York Times article, N.B.A.

Government Of Indi The Four Distributional Aspects Of...
According to the expert group on Financial Inclusion (GOI, 2008) only 27% of farmers have access to
institutional credit. It is true that there have been some improvements in flow of farm credit in recent
years. However, the Government has to be sensitive to the four distributional aspects of agricultural
credit. These are:
(a) not much improvement in the share of small and marginal farmers .
(b) decline in credit deposit (CD) ratios of rural and semi urban branches.
(c) increase in the share of indirect credit in total agricultural credit and.
(d) significant regional inequalities in credit. (Policies for Raising Agricultural Growth and
Productivity in India).
( S. Mahendra Dev, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai)
The Government of India has already put in place an agriculture credit policy to improve access of
farmers to institutional credit. Steps would be taken for extensive coverage of farmers under the Kisan
Credit Card Scheme. Micro credit and micro insurance will be promoted as an effective tool for
encouraging production and reducing risk. Credit cooperatives have an important position and role in
the rural financial system and priority would be given to reforms and revamping of cooperative credit
institutions as per the recommendations of the Vaidyanathan Committee. Credit counselling centres
would be established where severely indebted farmers can be provided a debt rescue package/
rescheduling to save them from a debt trap. National Bank

Differences Between America And France And The French...
Bonjour, Prime Minister, cheese, wine and affairs; these single words all come together to give you a
peek into the French way of life. There are many similarities and differences between America and
France and the way that their societies have shaped the people who live there. From the way we live,
to the morals when it comes to marriage and family. To go into greater detail, I will share with you
some of the traditions, social customs and the roles of the French society.
The French Government is set up similarly to our own. Our forefathers used the systems of
government from the French government to create what we use now in America. France is ruled by a
Republican government; also known as the French Republic. They have what is equal to a President,
but the title used more prominently is Prime Minister. The Prime Minister of France today is Manuel
Valls. In addition, the Prime Minister has a Council of Ministers at his aid to help organize and
structure the government. The French are exceedingly controlling and rule governed people. Their
uncertainty avoidance is rated at a high level, meaning that they like to have their rules and a
foundation. As said in the article What About France , it articulates that The French don t like
surprises. Structure and planning are required. Before meetings and negotiations, they like to receive
all necessary information. As a consequence, the French are good in developing complex technologies
and systems in a stable environment, such

  • 2. Tumor Suppression Genes Research Paper Tumor Suppression Genes Introduction Cell replication and division is vital for growth and development. The mechanisms associated with replication of DNA are very precise. However, there can be errors at times and when these errors occur there could be problems in reproduction process. Some of these errors can cause uncontrolled cell growth causing tumor formation. There are genes within the human genome that prevent this uncontrolled growth from occurring. These genes are known as tumor suppression genes. They work in a very specific way and are vital for proper growth. Though they fix errors, the tumor suppression genes can malfunction or be malformed at times as well. When these errors occur, there can be serious consequences. What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oncogenes are genes that work in the opposite way of tumor suppression genes. They cause uncontrolled growth of cells and are activated when tumor suppression genes become inactive. An example of this can be found in the mutation that causes Retinoblastoma. This is a condition that is found within the eye which is caused by a malfunctioning tumor suppression gene. The tumor suppression gene that malfunctions in retinoblastoma is the RB1 gene. This malfunction causes the activation of oncogenes. This ultimately leads to cells in the retina growing uncontrollably and causing tumors and cancer to develop in the eye. Tumor Suppression Genes and Caner Recently, a lot of research is being done involving tumor suppression genes and cancer. Scientists have been testing tumor suppression genes in gene therapy experiments. In these experiments the tumor suppression genes are injected into cancer cells and tumors. These genes are able to causes the cancer cell to die via apoptosis. Though it has yet to become a treatment for cancer, the future looks promising using this method. ... • 3. The Gospel Of The Apostles Of Jesus From the time when Jesus ascended into heaven to the present day, Jesus sovereignly works through His children to continue to spread the gospel. For a time, the apostles of Jesus did not have either Jesus with them or His Spirit. During this time, though, the eleven apostles continued to seek God even as they chose a new apostle to take the place of Judas Iscariot. The apostles of Jesus spent this time waiting but not waiting and doing nothing. They prayed and worshiped God together. During one of the times of worship and prayer, the Spirit of God descended upon each one of them. Empowered by the Spirit, they went out preaching and telling people about Jesus in all different languages as the Spirit gave them utterance. As they were preaching, Peter stood up and addressed the gathering crowd and began to preach about Jesus and the crowd s need for Him. As Peter preached, God pricked many in their hearts and they were convicted of their sins. After Peter s sermon, many were baptized. During the time after this, the apostles continued to make new disciples of Jesus through the power of the Spirit. The Spirit was working mightily through the apostles. Just like before, the apostles and the disciples gathered together to worship and to pray to God. During these gatherings, they partook of the Lord s Supper. They fellowshipped and gathered many times. God continued to add to their fellowship daily as many as were called. As the message of Jesus spread to many people, the growth ... Fueled By The National Momentum For Social Reform During Fueled by the national momentum for social reform during the post World War II era, the United Kingdom restructured their health care system in 1946 to a socialized form where the federal government both regulates and administers universal health care to its residents through the National Health Service program. General income taxes fund the entirety of this health care program and the single payer nature of this system has eliminated the need for insurance companies since the federal government directly finances every British resident s medical bills at the time of their treatment. As the name implies, the National Health Service provides health care services to only permanent residents and any international visitors, including British born citizens, must pay a package rate for health care treatment that the government predetermines. The Washington Post s assessment of Great Britain s health care system reveals that this package rate that foreign visitors must pay for basic medical procedures is significantly inexpensive when compared with other industrialized countries. According to the gov.uk website, this National Health Service even provides immediate coverage to new immigrants by making them pay a surcharge as part of their immigration application to enter into the system. Since a majority of health care treatments in Britain are fully covered by the National Health Service, T.R. Reid in the PBS documentary, Sick Around the World , explains that no British residents fall into bankruptcy due to an inability to pay medical bills. The nhs.uk website further highlights the wide scope of health care coverage that the National Health Service provides by explaining how patients receive inpatient and outpatient hospital care, physician services, preventive treatments, diagnostic screenings, pediatric care, emergency care, nursing facilities, long term care, and end of life care without any out of pocket payments. After contacting the school s administration I was assigned to 3 different classes. My first challenge was to work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I also had to help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for students to listen. I was a personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe is an elementary on W Bonanza Rd, pretty much on the other side of town. In my assigned 3rd grade class I didn t exactly participate with every student equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the students because some students cared more than others. I loved how some students were mentally engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if they were incorrect. The 4th grade class was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference in regards to maturity. I was assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). Next reason why emotional intelligence is so important is when is comes to customers, you need to be able to provide sympathy towards your customers if they are going through a rough patch or a tough time. For an example a gas station is doing a remodel at the store which makes them lose out on their normal sales volume the vendors that sell their product at that store need to understand that the problem is temporary, not permanent as things go it s just a simple remodel then they gas station will be back to running to its full potential. Price gouging occurs when goods and services are being charged more than the normal amount, which happens in a natural disaster. An example that was mentioned in the book was that in the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, generators that go for $250 were now raised to $2000 (Sandel, 2009, p. 3). The concept of virtue is what society wants to encourage in a community such as good traits or qualities of character which are accepted. (Sandel, 2009, p. 7). Police Officers And Their Image Of A Police Officer Police officers were implemented into society to be protectors of the public and to serve the community whenever they were in need of help or justice. They are here to enforce the laws of the land and to keep society safe from any harm. The police are suppose to be our unsung heroes. With this knowledge, citizens should respect these individuals and trust the officers to implement justice and protection. However, not all citizens respect the law enforcement or trust them. Many would like to see police officers like this, but there are a lot that happens in society that make s one rethink their image of a police officer. There are many people in the community that have negaitve attitudes towards the police and see them as corrupt or brutal (Brown Benedict, 2002, p. 551). The individuals that are unfavorable towards the police are those from a low social statues, minorities like blacks, from areas of high crime, single or divorced or widowed individuals, and especially juveniles. Juveniles that have had high contact with officers, minorities, tolerance to illegal behavior, and low socioeconomic group status believe that they are treated unfairly, targeted by the police, and believe that they were wrongly accused (Janeksela, 1999, p. 314). Didn t think I would like it seeing that this would be my first time ever seeing a play like this one. I was thinking to myself am I going to like it, will I be able to sit through the whole play without being bored. Within the first couple of seconds, I was amazed at how the characters from the start of the play really drew me in with their chanting and the two characters going on and on about the tale of Antonio Salieri. I liked how they went back and forth about what they heard and who they heard it from. Those two in my opinion really set the play in motion and gave just enough insight on Salieri to have you on your toes. In my mind I m asking the same questions, did Salieri really poison Mozart and if so why to tell it now? I m really into it now just from the first couple minutes. There wasn t a lot of props which I thought was a great idea, seeing that too many props couple draw the attention away from the characters. The play had it s really dark moments, like when Salieri first came on he seems very depressed and angry. My thoughts on Salieri is that he seemed very bitter and insane but the actor playing Salieri really brought this character to life. Solar energy reduces the amount of harm to the environment from energy generation, by providing a cleaner alternative. Solar energy also provides jobs for construction and installation of solar powered technologies. The cost of installing solar panels can vary greatly, but its long term benefits outweigh the costs. Typically a solar panel system is a three kilowatts to eight kilowatts system that cost fifteen thousand to forty thousand dollars to install, total cost depends on circumstances of installation. However tax credits and incentives help recoup a portion of the cost in the first year, the savings of electricity cost makes installing the system profitable in under 10 years (Maehlum). Purchasing the system requires a large loan, however paying the loan can be substantially better than paying utility bills when the investment will eventually be paid for. If the system is large enough to handle the requirements of the household, the only payment for electricity will be the cost of the loan. Making loan payments instead of paying utility bills is predictable, and any excess energy will be used as a credit for months were the owner s energy use may exceed the generated amount. • 15. Sitcom Humor Analysis 3.3. Manner The maxim of manner is flouted when the speaker uses ambiguous language or does not talk properly and understandably (Hu 2012: 1188). Sitcom humour makes use of lexical and referential ambiguity to flout this maxim for humour (Wu n.d.: 66/67). In the episode, the characters flout this maxim by using words that others do not know or by using words and phrases which are lexically ambiguous. When characters use words that others do not know, it either ridicules the speaker (because they are unable to communicate with others) or the listener (because they have a lack of knowledge). With the mise en scene, this helps the viewer identify that the time period being portrayed here is the late 1870 s or the early 1880 s. The mise en scene being used for this movie is important in telling the story from a different era as in today s world, no one dresses this way anymore. Also to include from this scene is the lighting. I will attempt to give an explicit description of the use of the lighting and the sun and how the cinematographer designed for the use of it.
