Documenting Exhibition Behaviours ( Online )
Documenting Exhibition Behaviours (online) Ten Thousand Cents by Aaron Koblin and Takashi
Kawashima from 2007, for example, is a digital artwork that creates a representation of a $100 bill.
Using a custom drawing tool (Mechanical Turk), thousands of individuals working in isolation from
one another painted a tiny part of the bill without knowledge of the overall task. Workers were paid
one cent each via Amazon s Mechanical Turk distributed labor tool. The total labor cost to create the
bill, the multi authored artwork being created, and the reproductions available for purchase (to charity)
are all $100. (Koblin and Kawashima 2007) The producers and viewers of the work are carefully
tracked on the website, even if they do not buy the work average times spent and the location of
visitors from Egypt to the Philippines are logged. (Graham, 2014) New media artworks that are
installed only online, and are site specific to the World Wide Web, must be considered carefully for
interactive behaviours, but as the Internet is inherently interactive, net artists are well used to this.
www_hack (2010) by Rui Guerra, for example, is a creative intervention onto specific web sites. A
script installed on the host site allows all visitors to a single webpage to observe each others mouse
movements at any one time. On a technical level, the work is based on a javascript that contacts a
server where all the individual mouse positions are stored, displaying all the cursors in

Haiti In The Dust Bowl
One of the most well known events in American history is the Great Depression, when the stock
market crashed in 1929 and the United States economy reached its lowest point to date until 1939.
During this time, thousands of Americans migrated to find work on farms in central and southwest
United States. This land was known as the Dust Bowl. Similarly today, thousands of Haitians migrate
to the Dominican Republic for the same reason, to find work. There are many works of literature that
describe the lives of migrant workers, but one written specifically about the Dust Bowl is John
Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, which gives an inside view of the minds of migrant workers of the past,
and can be related to present day. Although it may not seem obvious, ... Show more content on

Without labor migration, people may become enslaved instead, which is always the worst way of
obtaining workers. These migrant workers receive wages that are substantial enough to support
themselves, and hopefully their families. The whole idea of labor migration is seen less in more
developed countries, and in a way hidden in a sense, as you can see with the United States continually
attempting to block out migrants form Central and South America to maintain a national image. This
is also seen in the Dominican Republic, trying to rebuild their national image to match that of
countries such as the United States. John Steinbeck conveys the lives of migrant workers in an unusual
way, showing their passion for success, how hard they work, and the extent that they will go to in
order to be successful. He makes the life of a migrant worker seem to be a very difficult one in which
nothing is guaranteed and hard work, though it is the only work accepted, may not get you anywhere.
This is such a great way to make it out to be, because it is so true, that nothing in life comes easy, and
even when you deserve something you may not get it. When tying all of this together, the Dust Bowl,
Haiti, and Of Mice and Men, you can see that these migrant workers all face similar hardships

Analytic Thinking, Religion, and Prejudice
The relation between and the intersection of religion and analytic thinking are complex and
intransigently debated topic in the both social psychology and cognitive science literature for a
decade. Moreover, the idea that religions facilitate acts that cause the negative attitudes toward
especially religious out groups has relatively a long theoretical and empirical history in social
psychology (Allport Ross, 1967; Altemeyer Hunsberger, 1992; Spilka, 1986; Whitley Bernard,1999)
and is the main idea behind the evolutionary origins of religion (Atran Heinrich, 2010; Bering, 2011;
Norenzayan Shariff, 2008; Preston Ritter, 2013; Rand et al., 2014; Shariff Norenzayan, 2007; Sosis
Alcorta, 2003) which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In all experiments, those who primed with analytic thinking expressed less belief in a personal God:
an average of about 41 on a 100 point scale for experimental group as compared to an average of 61
for control group. Although this finding is robust in different demographic variations, little is known
about its applicability to different religions which have Big Gods . (The term Big Gods refer to
omnipresent and omniscient moralizing agent (Shariff Norenzayan, 2007) and this is unique to the
three big religions: Christianity, Judaism and Islam). Moreover, although they noted that the
manipulations did merely a dip in religious beliefs of participants instead of an extreme change, it is
unclear whether analytic thinking can decrease religious beliefs of highly religious people.
Nevertheless, between subject design had no possibility to do that; therefore, a within subject
replication of this effect is necessary to show its robustness.
Religion and Prejudice Cooperation requires acting and working together for the mutual benefits of
the members of the in group; that is, cooperative intentions toward in group members. Accordingly, it
is generally thought that religiosity evolved with the object of constructing large scale societies where
the anonymous interaction among genetically unrelated members of society is crucial (Norenzayan

Using Windows And Osx ( Apple )
Introduction
In this report I will be writing about the key components which are needed for any computer to be able
to run and work. I will be writing about them in detail to show what they do and how they help make
the computer work. I am also going to go over some extra components which can be added to make
them run better and quicker. Along with the components, I am going to talk about what an operating
system is and why it is needed. To go into more depth with operating systems I am going to compare
features of Windows and OSX (Apple).
Computer Components
CPU (Central Processing Unit)
The CPU is the core component of the computer which acts as the brain of the computer. The CPU is
in charge of handling every instruction that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ALU is also where all the final processing is happening before it is sent back to the Register for
the computer to use.
The CU is part of the CPU which directs all the processors operations by conducting the input and
output of a computer system. The Control Unit is the middle part between the Register and the ALU,
decoding instructions and sending them to get executed by the ALU.
The Register is a form of local storage space on the CPU which holds all the data which is being
processed. It can usually occupy the top most position of memory, in which it provides high speed
storage space and fast access to that data. (Computer Hope, 2014)
Motherboard
A Motherboard is the key circuit board of the computer and is where all the components are
connected, this includes; CPU, ROM, RAM, expansion slots, PCI Slots, SATA, USB, etc. As you can
see by Figure 2, there are a lot parts which make up a motherboard and can also be added to it. A
Motherboard has a chipset which is a collection of chips and controllers. When a new model of
motherboards are made, they have new updated chipsets which work better than previous chipsets.
The bad thing about this is that some older components may not work with this new chipset and will
have to be replaced with newer parts. (Tech Terms, 2008)
There are 6 Motherboards which are out on the market which all look different and are placed in
different computers. The six are; AT,

Panther And Fire Analysis
1. A black 1973 Dodge Charger races down the decrepit crime ridden streets of Fittensburg. The car
parks near the town s bar and a black woman who just goes by the name Panther, steps out. Scars are
illustrated on a face that has been through the meat grinder of numerous battles. Yet, Panther wears
them as if they are her badges of honor. Panther wears a leather jacket with Kevlar built in. Other
people might think that it has seen better days, since sections are sloppily stitched together and bullet
holes punctuate the outfit. The jacket hardly hangs on her shoulders and there is a canyon sized tear on
the left sleeve. But Panther looks at it differently, to her it represent who she is as they are both worn
down and battered. Different guns are concealed underneath her ... Show more content on

She would just as soon let a kid stay in a burning building as save them if the price was right. She also
betrayed someone in her past, an action she regrets and wishes she could take it back. Panther tries to
tell herself to forget and move on but, the guilt that has manifested itself into voices in her head that
constantly eat away at what is left of her soul. She quiets them with alcohol but they never truly go
away. Panther has an elemental desire to connect with someone, in order to achieve a sense of
purpose. The voices never allow her to make peace with what she had done. In fact, the voices force
her to wear a ring, that belonged to the person she betrayed, around her neck as a reminder of the
crime she committed. There are two conflicting aspects of her personality that are waging a never
ending war for control. The voices in her head are constantly freeing the animalistic side of who she
is. A ticking time bomb waiting for any reason to explode, and god help anyone nearby when that
happens. Then, you have the samurai side of her personality that is constantly struggling for control
over that animal. Panther is a broken woman who has but one desire and that is to survive in this

Application Of A Penetration Testing Against `` My House...
Chapter 3: Practical test
My House lab Scenario.
For this coursework I have decided to perform a penetration testing against My House lab , to evaluate
and improve my WLAN Infrastructure security.
The scenario that I had examined is a WLAN Infrastructure Network using a Virgin Media Super Hub
(Netgear) , with more than 10 devices connected .
Looking on the internet about the router model I own I could make an interesting discovery. I found an
article written by an expert in computer security, Paul Moore, dating back to March 2014(Paul
Moore,2014). This guy, a year ago, had found a flaw inside the super hub of VirginMedia. Indeed
reboot the router took 1 minute to start well, and in this minute for seven seconds was able to access
the WiFi network without the need for key. Fortunately Paul contacted the Virgin who in turn
contacted the Netgear to try to resolve the issue with the release of a new firmware.
Now the problem is resolved, however is an interesting issue happened, because sometimes, our
security depends not only on us and what we can do to protect it and keep it. Sometimes there may be
larger obstacles, as in this case an error of firmware that we can circumvent but not eliminate (until the
company responsible is not able to patch it).
Methodologies
I adopted different steps to performing penetration testing that is effective in testing how well the My
House lab is secure. I have used different softwares such as NMap , Wareshark,

My Time At The Proprietor Bar And Table
My time at The proprietor Bar and Table was simply amazing. It was everything that I could ever ask
for and more at my externship site. I have learnt a lot and gain marvelous experience with my time at
The Proprietors.
The quality of the products and finished food is astounding. The food is very creative and delicious,
always seasonal. We try our best to incorporate local ingredients into the menu. Our dishes are very
time consuming and creative which is not a problem because we want what s best for our customers.
We use Many different technique when preparing the food, my favorites are sous vide and smoking.
One of the dishes that is mind blowing to me is the Charcuterie plate, it s consist of ten to fifteen meat
including sausages, terrines and pate. The meats are all made in house, we also have 6 different
pickles and Crostini. I got the pleasure of having a real dining experience twice at The Proprietor Bar
and Table. Both time I have been there the food and service was remarkable. Working in the kitchen I
taste most of the food especially on my station but I haven t tried any of the food on the Entree station.
My first time eating at the restaurant was two weeks before I finished my Externship, I went in with a
group of friends and we all get different dishes so we could get everything on the menu. So I have had
the pleasure of trying everything on the menu and the Chef was so generous and kind he send out
dishes that I haven t gotten the chance to truly experience the food. ... Show more content on

Mannerism In Speed-The Shawl, And Faustus By William...
David Mamet is an American playwright born in 1947, having the additional titles as an essayist,
screenwriter, and film director. Mamet has written several plays, including Speed the Plow, China
Doll, The Shawl, and Faustus, and succeeded in a movie adaptation of his play Glengarry Glen Ross
in 1992. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois until he relocated outside the city, living with his parents that
later divorced until he moved. His sister Lynn admitted their home life was cruel, influencing anger to
be present in Mamet s work (Editors). In relation to his work, other themes of his work include:
relationships (deception, loyalty, etc.), success and failure, and speech mannerisms (persuasion and
alike). Other attributes of Mamet s work include intricate dialogue and characters with individualized
mannerisms; for example: Mamet believes that people speak what they are influenced by. Mamet was
influence most by Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter, Lanford Wilson, and Bertolt Brecht, beginning his
unique use of dramatic language (Whatley 12).
As for his play American Buffalo, the following themes are present: business, loyalty, friendship, and
ethics. In 1972, the infamous Watergate Scandal occurred; the importance of this event can tie in with
American Buffalo s creation. President Nixon s time in office compelled him to resolve conflicts he
deemed just, however Americans lost their trust in Nixon after the Watergate Scandal happened. In the

every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work
productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. There are
many factors that go into what categorizes a person as at risk . According to the National Institute for
Mental Health, an at risk person is one that a person that has demonstrated or expressed the thought of

About nineteen percent of young people contemplate or attempt suicide each year. So how do these
statistics matter to you? Think about it like this, according to the center for disease control, (CDC),
every 12 minutes, a person will die because of suicide attempt. That is roughly five deaths every hour.
However, you do not hear about suicide like I have so bluntly put it to you. We see suicide on the
news and social media and it is written so positively. When Robin William s died of suicide in 2014
the media started the phrase Genie you are free , but could this quote be potentially glorifying suicide
in a way that changes society s perception on suicide. Throughout the years, media has continually
grown and has had a huge impact on people of all ages. According to the authors of The Impact of
Social Media on Children, Adolescents, and Families , social media is both a blessing and a curse,
social media encourages creativity, connection between peers, and helping shape ones individuality.
However it also can lead to Facebook depression which is depression that develops when preteens and
teens spend a great deal of time on social media sites, such as Facebook, and then begin to exhibit
classic symptoms of depression. (O Keeffe and Clarke Pearson). O Keeffe and Clarke Pearson also

Junk Mail And The Art Of Hype Essay example
The art of hype pervades advertising of all kinds. You can see it everywhere you go. It s characterized
by its extensive use of exclamation points, big words, powerful colors, and giant pictures. You re sure
to see several trademark symbols and percentages that they claim you will save. What they hide are
the details which are quite often exceptions to their claims and end up rendering their savings
miniscule.
These details are usually confined to quot;fine print quot; which they expect no one to read.No where
is hype more prevalent, and indeed necessary, than in junk mail. The very fact that hype is so
prevalent says a lot about the reader of junk mail. It implies that they have a short attention span and

In a shopping mall, for example, the shoppers are seeking commodities, and that is their purpose for
going. They want to find something that they will enjoy consuming. The shopper and the seller are in
it together.
All the seller has to do is make the package look appealing and the shopper will be curious about it
(qtd. in Maasik 46). But in junk mail, the sender knows that no one wants to read their sales pitch, and
that, in fact, most of their mail goes straight into the trash can without much more than a glance.
Therefore, junk mail must sell itself in that one, vital glance.Do Americans have such a short attention
span that advertisers are required to resort to such hype? That s what everything about the junk mail
seems to imply.

Essay about Transformation of Homewood West Community
Homewood West is located on the eastern side of Pittsburgh and is one of the three neighborhoods that
make up the Homewood community, along with Homewood North and Homewood South.
Homewood West was once a thriving neighborhood with an abundance of upper class families and an
economy that depended heavily on the city s railroad system, that made economic opportunities
readily available and housing that was affordable and convenient (Allegheny County DHS 2010).
African Americans were the first to inhabit Homewood, However many whites moved into the
neighborhood, causing tension within the community, during a time period where racism was still a
major factor in society. According to the Allegheny DHS (2010), by 1910, Homewood s population ...

Now, Homewood West has a total population of 818 people, which has steadily declined since the
1950 s (U.S. Census 2010). This transformation has had some major effects on this neighborhood,
making economic opportunities hard to find. A lack of quality education, and high crime rates have
caused businesses to leave the area, creating vacant buildings and broken down homes, lowering the
value of properties and the hopes of bringing businesses back to the community. Residents in
Homewood are affected by all these things and have the community at a standstill, looking for ways to
fix them.
Demographics and Crime
My first perception of Homewood made me a little nervous about the idea of going into a
neighborhood with such a high crime rate, especially being a kid from a suburban area with mostly
white middle class families. Going into a neighborhood that was 95.6 percent black was definitely out
of my comfort zone (U.S. Census 2010). My perception of Homewood quickly changed however,
once I started to talk to people there. To my surprise, many were well educated and very welcoming,
and ambitious people, striving to make the community better. Many of them noted the issues in the
neighborhood, and stated that they had a lot of work to do but they made me leave Homewood West
with hope.
As I started my journey into Homewood, I made my way down Franktown Avenue past the YWCA I
started to see differences from the city and why a lot of residents are struggling to make

The Effect Of Cost On The Profitability Of The Businesses...
Introduction
All businesses work with the main objective of making a profit. The determination of the profitability
of the businesses will depend on the assessment of various factors of production as they contribute to
the final income. The most primitive way of expressing the profit of a firm is through the subtraction
of the costs from the revenues. Fixed cost is costs that are not changeable over a long period of time
while the variable costs do change as time changes. Traditionally, the statement of accounts and
profitability only took into consideration the interplay between the two factors costs and revenues. In
this traditional statement, variable costs and fixed cost were treated similarly. The separation of the
costs as either fixed cost or variable cost came into being with the advent of the margin statement. In
simplest terms, contribution margin has been used to indicate the result of excess between the
revenues and the variable costs. The contribution margin is therefore, an in depth statement of profit to
take to account a lot of other financial variables in the like revenues, expenses, profits, and losses
among others. Gross profit is a crude profit since it does not entirely belong to the company s revenue.
These are some of the loopholes in the accounting that the contribution margin exists to seal and it
does this through the consideration of net profit in the accounting period other than the gross profit.
The most important application of the contribution

Palace Theif Character Analysis
The story, Palace Theif, is a somewhat short story about a teacher s point of view of how deeply
students can affect those around them. Others would disagree with how I would summarize the story
but this I how truly felt after reading it. Sedgewick, and those related to him, had a huge impact on our
narrator, Mr. Hundert. Even despite how after his student graduated he was still reminded by all of the
experiences he shared with him. The first relationship would of course be Mr. Sedgewick himself. He
is complicated boy with high status relations behind him, as he is related to the Senator, his father.
During the first interaction with Sedgewick, Mr. Hundert was most likely aware that he was going to
be a troublemaker of his class. However seemed shocked once he received Sedgewick s first exams.
How poorly he did on it seemed surprising to him as it states, He was a poor student and on his first
exam could not even tell me who it was that Mark Antony and Octavian had routed at Philippi, nor
who Octavian later became, although an average wood beetle in the floor of my classroom could have
done so with ease. (Line 12) This show exactly how he felt about Mr. Sedgewick. A simple no brainer.
As Sedgewick s grades get lower and lower, Mr Hundert decides to have a meeting with his father.
However during the meeting, which will be discussed later on, things went the in a direction Mr.
Hundert was not expecting. He learns how arrogant his father is and pities the boy. As it

Compare And Contrast Sonny s Blues And The Rich Brother
In the story of The Rich Brother , from the author Tobias Wolff, and Sonny s Blues by writer James
Baldwin, both stories have brothers that succeed and failed. In The Rich Brother Pete is the oldest and
Donald the youngest, Pete has his life put together, a family, and while the youngest is trying to find
himself his lost. In Sonny s Blues the narrator is the oldest brother and Sonny is the youngest, the
unnamed narrator is an English teacher who was in the army and has a family, Sonny is a musician
that makes bad decisions. Both brothers have an age gap therefore, they view life in different ways,
but they only have each other. However, the story The Rich Brother , emphasizes that Pete is rich with
a job in real state while Donald is jobless and is trying new things. Money has been a struggle for the
youngest brother and depends on his brother, he doesn t pay the money back. Pete doesn t deny him
money because he tries to help Donald not fall behind. One reason that Pete is furious at Donald is
that he can t save his money and gives it away to a stranger. Pete and Donald struggle to understand
each other because they have different lives and standards. Pete is classified as high class and Donald
low class, both are from diverse category Secondly, The Rich Brother tale, relationship among
brothers is they have cold heart love but is typical of brothers. Pete is jealous of Donald because as a
child, the youngest got more attention from their parents. From the experience, he faces when the
narrator was younger, made beat Donald in his wounded areas. Their parents are death and they only
have each other s support it s a bond that can t be broken. In the story of The Rich Brother , Mom was
in a state every time you burped, Pete said. I don t know maybe . Maybe I bumped into you
accidentally once or twice. Every Chance you got Donald said (Wolff 98). They have a playful
relationship, they love and care for each other even if their relationship of brothers is not perfect.
Thirdly, The Rich Brother Pete feels he is responsible for his brother after his parent s death. He thinks
that Donald is hard to handle since he sees the goodness in every people and could be easily be fooled.

A Brief Note On The City Of London
Exploring an Interdisciplinary Approach to Redeveloping the City of London, England This research
report compiles studies from various disciplines regarding culture, social and economic concerns, the
built environment, and the impact of urbanization in a growing city: London, England. The purpose of
this report is to express the positive outcome that can occur when ethically redeveloping urban
brownfields or derelict real estate by taking public policy, risk assessment, funding, historical
knowledge, and cultural sensitivity into account over the course of the project. With the recent credit
crunch due to loan defaults, the property market has suffered severely in its ability to provide
affordable housing. International investors have invaded the property development scene in London to
take advantage of available land and are causing forceful demographic changes by attracting buyers
with more spending ability than local Londoners. This in turn will cause friction in the relationship
that London s society has with its built environment. Throughout this report, I will explain how
culture is effected when society s relationship with its surrounding environment changes and how
ethical urban regeneration can stay true to the culture, whilst having a beneficial impact on social
welfare. In order to have this effect, project managers must assess finance methods for development,
current demographics, urban heritage, contamination levels, externalities, and cultural ecology

Environmental Assessment Of Wastewater Drains
Environmental Assessment of Wastewater Drains Outfalls Points into River Mouri at Khulna: An
Application of GIS S. Hasan , K. M. Hassan and S. K. Sarkar Abstract Rivers are the blessing on earth
as they serve humans with ample fresh water supply. The purpose of the present study focuses on the
combination of the GIS mapping, to indicate the status of pollution status in the sketch of River
Mouri, downstream to the wastewater outfalls. The GIS mapping of the eleven wastewater study
parameters reveals that the high concentrations of BOD5, COD, DO, Color, Turbidity, TDS and TSS
exceeding the permissible limits is present throughout the study portion of the river. In addition, it
highlighted the portions where only few parameters such as PH, Chloride, Nitrate and Sulphate are
deteriorating the riverine ecosystem. The GIS application in pollutant load assessment of the study
further indicates that although few pollutants, discharged into river are relatively low in concentrations
at one wastewater outfall point as compared to other but may have high pollutant load that may leads
to significantly higher ecological impacts. The possible application of this study is for the decision
makers to introduce optimum treatment engineering controls at points of interests, prior to its disposal
into River Mouri to prevent the ecological damages and protect human health. Keywords: gis

Ethos, Logos, Pathos, And Malcolm X

Ethos, Logos, Pathos, and Malcolm X
Aristotle contends that persuasive speech is composed of three elements: ethos, logos, and pathos. In
debate, we use these to construct our arguments. The first principle, ethos, can be expressed as a
claim. The claim is the core of the argument; everything else goes to support it. I will commence this
essay with the following claim:
Malcolm X is not his own man. He is merely a mirror, an empty shell with a loud voice who echoes
time and again the views of his mentors. This is why his beliefs change so often throughout his life:
when his father, Shorty, and Elijah Muhammad respectively take him under their wings, they wipe the

When he tells his teacher he might want to be a lawyer, he is rebuked with racism: A lawyer that s no
realistic goal for a n****r. (38) He sees then that his work to become the top student and class
president has all been for naught. It doesn t matter how hard he tries: They didn t give me credit for
having the same sensitivity, intellect, and understanding that they would have been ready and willing
to recognize in a white boy in my position. (28) This realization breaks something in him: when he
realizes that whites will never deign to accept him into their society, he loses trust in what his father
stood for. You re acting so strange, his classmates and coworkers tell him.(37) Malcolm changes; he
rejects all outer stimuli and retreats deeper into himself, hopeless without a paragon of success to
emulate. You don t seem like yourself, Malcolm. What s that matter? (37) In losing his role model,
Malcolm has become a wanderer without a path to follow.
Adrift within a sea of his own thoughts, Malcolm moves to Boston. Suddenly, his world is devoid of

Rate Of Reaction Between Hydrochloric Acid And Sodium T
Experimental Investigation Rate of Reaction
Research Topic:
The topic includes the effect of concentration and temperature on the rate of reaction between
hydrochloric acid (HCl) and Sodium Thiosulphate (Hypo solution). There are multiple ways to test the
rate of reaction between two substances, however the experiment we will be conducting involves
placing a conical flask directly over a black coloured x and recording the time it takes for the x to
become invisible after the two solutions react with each other. This is simple and direct as multiple
tests can be undertaken at different concentration levels and multiple temperatures.
Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric Acid Reaction

Aim:
The overall aim of this experimental investigation is to further research and investigate the factors of
temperature and concentration and how these two elements can alter or change the speed or rate of a
reaction. The aim will be investigated thoroughly, with multiple experiments being conducted to
ultimately fulfil this aim, with as much detail and data as possible so an in depth conclusion can be
delivered.
Hypothesis:
It is hypothesised that when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is increased,
the speed of the reaction will also increase, whereas when the temperature at which the chemical
reaction takes place is decreased, the speed of the reaction will decrease. This hypothesis correlates to
the investigation because when the Hydrochloric acid is at a higher temperature, the solution that is
mixed with it, in this case Sodium Thiosulphate, the rate at which the reaction occurs will be much
faster. Whereas, when the temperature of the Hydrochloric acid is decreased, the Sodium Thiosulphate
solution that will be mixed in will result in the rate at which the reaction occurs being much slower. It
is also hypothesised that when the concentration of a solution in a chemical reaction is increased, the
speed of the reaction increases. Whereas, on the other hand, when the concentration of the solution in
the chemical reaction is decreased, the speed at which the reaction occurs will be far slower. This

The Effects Of Music On Our Lives
Music is an extremely important factor in our lives. In today s society, walking into a store and
hearing a pop song that you know all the lyrics to is a very common occurrence. If I were on a
stranded island, I would bring the album Born To Die by Lana Del Rey. Some songs or albums evoke
certain types of emotions whether through the utilization of lyrics, instrumentations, or beats. These
emotions can elicit different types of moods as well; and we often come by songs can put us in the
mood to do different kinds of things like cooking, sleeping, studying, spending time with friends, or
anything else. I don t think that Born To Die is my absolute favorite album, but I do think that it would
keep me from going insane on this stranded island.
Lana Del Rey has a mesmerizing, haunting, and vivacious voice when she sings, so it is no surprise
that I would have no problem hearing her on repeat on a stranded island. Her voice is a very distinct
and hard to forget voice as, which makes Born To Die a much more emotional album. She is
considered to be an Indie Pop artist, as she has a very eccentric and eclectic feel to most of her music.
The album is filled with harps and symphonic elements like violins, violas and cellos. Born to Die
contains steady drums and electronic guitar beats. However, Blue Jeans incorporates western guitars
that give it a string instrument vibe. Many of the songs on Born To Die have to do with boosting self
confidence and self esteem, often targeting

Richard Bach Illusion
Questioning Reality in Richard Bach s Illusions
The message of Richard Bach s Illusions is based on the concept that the things we interpret in the
world as reality are actually illusions. This is made evident to one of the main characters, Richard,
through his interactions with his newly found friend, Donald Shimoda. Donald Shimoda is a messiah ,
and he has gifts that he uses to help mankind. A quote that Richard reads is Here is a test to find
whether your mission on earth is finished: If you re alive, it isn t (121). During the entire story, Don
proves this quote to be true. Donald works to share his gifts and carry out his mission on earth.

Then, the man disappears. Richard wakes to see Donald, wide awake, leaning against his airplane.
Don tells Richard that this dream answered questions that Richard had about Donald. Later, Richard
learns of Donald s past.
Richard discovers that Don was once a messiah . He was famous for giving advice and teaching
people about life, and for performing miracles. People flocked to him, seeking his wisdom and advice.
However, after a while he saw that they no longer came to him to better their knowledge of life and
the world; they simply wanted to see the miracles that he could perform. Don became frustrated
because the people did not care about the good things that he had to offer them. After seeking God s
advice, Don quit his job as a messiah. He disappeared and began doing things that he enjoyed, like
barnstorming.
Don begins to teach Richard about life. In a sense, he was passing on his gift as a messiah to Richard.
He introduces to Richard the small bits of wisdom in his handbook that he used when he had a
question about life. The handbook answers questions that Richard had about his own life, and he
begins to learn the things that makes Don a messiah: the wisdom that helped him to give advice to
people in need.
Don is able to do miracles that defy the rules of the world we live in. For example, he can make
objects like the tools for his airplane float in the air or move. He uses miracles to keep his plane clean

Examples Of Chris Selfish In Into The Wild
Society today is beginning to think more about themselves and less about others. Many people would
desire to live a life solely benificial to themselves rather than benefiting others on the way. This is
considered selfish, considering it can cause problems for others. In his book Into the Wild , Jon
Krakaur portrays well that Chris s actions made him inherently selfish. He created sentimental
relationships and left a vast amount of them. Not only did he leave all of those people, but he left his
family as well. Chris also threw away things that anyone would be glad to take. Overall, his journey
was ultimately selfish and made things more difficult for other people. Firstly, Chris was selfish
because he made relationships during his journey

Essay On When Cutting Access To Health Care
Introduction The article, When Cutting Access to Health Care, There Is a Price to pay in the New York
Times and written by Eduardo Porter highlights the health crisis that is being experienced in the
United States. This has contributed to the low economies due to low productivity since the sick people
cannot work. The article states that in a research conducted by experts, the United States is ranked as
having the highest mortality rate (Porter, 2017). Conditions such as heart diseases, diabetes, and
infectious diseases also top in the list. Early deaths have become the norm in teenagers and young
adults, due to health conditions related to obesity, chronic diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, and

There has been little progress on funding research programs that aim at necessitating on preventive
measures in preventing the chronic diseases. Most are sponsored by private organizations that promote
healthcare. Therefore, there is the need for a change in the budget to promote good health of the
citizens.
Impacts on the Possible Amendment of the Constitution I believe amending the constitution so that it
meets a balanced federal budget would bring positive effects. For instance, it would help in solving
the persistent problem of the increasing deficits and federal debt. Otherwise, the future generation
would suffer the repercussions since they would have to take part in paying the debt. This could also
limit the chances of the future policymakers to engage in corrupt malpractices and irresponsible fiscal
policies which would instead ensure that there is accountability. The federal government would also
be forced to take quick actions to respond to emergencies and economic recessions (Brazier, et al.,
2017). I also believe that the opposing parties would have to comply with the passed legislation to
meet the Constitution s requirement. However, the only set back in my view would be the political
pressure that would be exerted on the lawmakers especially the opponents. They would be forced to
gimmick the budget to meet the balanced expectation. This would make them work because the law
requires them to do so and not because of their willingness in doing

The Culture Of England At Fresno State
About the Culture of England
While walking throughout the halls at Fresno State, one may not realize the diversity of culture among
the student body. There are many international students that attend Fresno State, and it is more
common than students may think. I had the opportunity to interview one of these international
students, who traveled very far from her home country in order to attend school in the United States.
Esme Gullick, who came to Fresno State in order to pursue her dream of swimming, is now a member
of the Fresno State Swim Team, and has traveled 5,245 miles from her hometown of Weston Super
Mare, England. England is located within the United Kingdom, and is also referred to as Great Britain.

Interview with Esme Esme is currently 20 years old, and moved to the United States when she was 18.
She was born and raised in the coastal town of Super Mare, England, and described her hometown as
small and old fashioned. She said that England looks nothing like California because of all the rain,
and would compare better to Oregon, because of all the green. She also said that everything in
England is a lot smaller and cramped than in the U.S., including the roads and the buildings. When she
came to the United States, she was looking for the opportunity to compete and train at a competitive
level, while still being able to get her degree. She chose Fresno State because of the high standard that
is held for student athletes and she wanted to be challenged. Although this does not tie into the culture
of England, it does tie into her view of the United States. She viewed the United States as a better
opportunity, with better education and more competitive athletics. When I first sat down to speak with
Esme, the first thing I noticed was her accent. The primary language of England is English, however
she pronounced certain words differently than we do in the United States. One thing that is unique
about England is its pride in their Royal Kingdom. According to Esme, many holidays revolve around
the Royal Family. This includes recent events like the Royal Wedding and the births of the

The Historical Roles Of The Hebrews As A Monotheistic God
The Hebrews served a monotheistic God, who they called Yahweh. He is an all powerful and non
human like being. They believed he made them in his image and gave them dominion over the earth.
Their God was unlike any other gods at the time because he was friendly, compassionate, forgiving
and all powerful. God gave the Hebrews structure, a background, hope, and purpose. Every society
needs rules to protect and keep the community in line. God gave Moses the ten commandments which
they lived on.1 The Hebrews created the Bible a sacred book containing their lives and relationships
with God. The Bible gave the Hebrews an understanding of how the world and humankind emerged.
They also believed in an afterlife. Heaven for people who lived a righteous life and Hell for people
who lived an unholy life in the eyes of God. So the Hebrews had a set of laws follow and hopes to
believe in. This unified the Hebrews because they had the same goals, beliefs and obligation to
suppress their desires for the well being of God and their society.
Historical context The Hebrews came from the lineage of Abraham. Abraham was a man of a
monotheistic God. He was promised a nation by his God. The Hebrews were traders and herders that
communicated in Hebrew. They originated in East Asia, but moved to Canaan their promised land.
Canaan is modern era Lebron, Israel, and Jordan. They lived there for a hundred years. After a
hundred years they experienced a drought that caused a famine so they moved to Egypt for refuge.
The Hebrews suffered in Egypt because many of their people were in enslaved and forced into hard
labor. They were led into freedom with the help of Moses and Joshua. So they returned to Canaan. The
Hebrews fought to take back their land, but they we successful. 2
Adam and Eve The Hebrew God was so merciful. In the beginning of the Bible, we learned that the
first human was created from dust. God gave him everything he needed to survive and later a

How To Survive The Sinking Of The RMS Titanic
I always wondered, what if I survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic? Well, one day, I built a time

in an old fashioned car heading for a building. I got out of the car, and then I saw myself wearing a
gown. I went inside the building that was in front of me, and I suddenly saw a man and 3 others,
playing poker to win a Titanic Ticket. Then, I was offered to play poker for the same ticket. So I
accepted the offer. As I played, I thought to myself, what if I win? What if I m on my way to New

Power Of The Druids
The Power of the Druids In the Irish religion called druidism, the druids were extremely powerful, so
powerful it seems that they even had to name the religion based upon these men and women of such
high rank. Often called wizards, their powers were virtually limitless. Ranging from divination to
creating potions to chanting spells, the druids were respected and, most likely, feared. Other than the
magical abilities the druids possessed, they were also the exclusive possessors of whatever learning
was then known (Joyce 44), meaning that they possessed all knowledge. Thus, they had even more
power over the people because they were relied upon for information. Concerning their magic, the
druids used it under many different circumstances and their interference greatly affected the outcome
of a story. It is helpful to use and analyze specific examples of druids in stories to understand the
mystical ways they wield their magic. In the story entitled Lord and Lady of the Wheel: the Careers of
Mog Roith and Tlachtga , the vastness of a druid s power is well represented. Though known as a
druid of wisdom and knowledge (Matthews 189), these are not the druidic traits of Mog Roith
developed in the myth. In the first place, Mog Roith does not simply appear out of thin air or without
any purpose, but he is called upon by King Fiacha of Munster to aid in the battle against Cormac mac
Art. The King is currently on the verge of losing the war and he needs the help of a druid, which

Good Bye Lenin Symbolism
Within the film, Good Bye, Lenin!, the transition from a Socialist society to a post Socialist nation can
be seen in the film s utilization of symbolism. Symbolism used within the film can be understood as
reflective of the actual lives of German citizens, and from this imagery, the transition to post
Socialism can be analyzed as bittersweet. Good Bye, Lenin! portrayed the conditioning of Socialist
citizens by politicians, the citizens reliance on governmental support, the westernization of East
Germany, and the gendered roles of men and women within society. Within the film s symbolic
imagery, these portrayals further resonate the bittersweet transition of Germany s society and the
reality of its citizens. It is from these various depictions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
by Alex, the film s main character. The transition is best described by Alex when he expresses his
childhood interest in the cosmonaut, Sigmund Jahn. Within the film, as Alex verbally details his
childhood interest in the cosmonaut s departure into space, a spaceship is visually seen leaving earth
for space. The departure of the spaceship from earth into space is reflective of East Germany s
transition from Socialism to post Socialism. This depiction of the cosmonaut is symbolic of how new
and foreign post Socialism was to East German citizens, as space was to Sigmund Jahn. More
importantly, the ascent into space by Jahn is also symbolic of the wanted achievements of Alex.
Furthermore, this example of symbolism allows for the interpretation of distinct feelings of those
experiencing the transition from Socialism to post Socialism may have felt to be acknowledged.
Within Socialist societies, dependency on the government to require resources and resolution upon
being given certain opportunities can be noted. During the transition to post Socialism, uncertainty of
what a society free of Socialism would consist of, and freedom to exhibit characteristics that were
condemned under Socialism can also be noted. In acknowledging the differences of feelings felt
within Germany s Socialist and post Socialist society, the transition s description as bittersweet can be

Often times the person writing the new story is unable to give a full representation of the situation at

the people they will be able to give a clearer understanding of the story.Today many news stories are

turn it into a story that is looking from the inside out. When people read a story that is in the
perspective of the people that are experiencing changes, because of this I believe readers differently

because of all the chaos in their homeland. Many Americans, however feel that taking in Syrian
refugees could be dangerous because they could possibly be a terroristic threat to America. I believe
people feel this way because they have not been exposed to the fight that every Syrian is forced to

Gastric Bypass
1. Roux en Y gastric bypass is a special procedure used to treat morbid obesity. Describe in detail the
Roux en Y procedure. The Roux en Y procedure is a laparoscopic form of gastric surgery that uses
trocars to manipulate the stomach. The patient must be positioned supine with their arms extended
outward or in the lithotomy position. This is dependent on where the trocars are positioned. The
surgeon uses monitors to see inside the abdominal cavity and places the trocars a fist length away
from each other. Four 10mm trocars and two 5mm trocars are used for this surgery. Gastric ligaments
are pulled down at the angle of His (Ayloo, 2014). The gastric pouch is then created by creating a
window in the lesser sac (Ayloo, 2014). The stapler is then used to transect the stomach horizontally
and then vertically at the angle of His . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

anastomosis is completed with the common enterotomy being hand sewn in a bilayer method (Ayloo,

Roux limb is brought out anticolic and antigastric (Ayloo, 2014). Next the gastrojejunal anastomosis

  • 2. Documenting Exhibition Behaviours ( Online ) Documenting Exhibition Behaviours (online) Ten Thousand Cents by Aaron Koblin and Takashi Kawashima from 2007, for example, is a digital artwork that creates a representation of a $100 bill. Using a custom drawing tool (Mechanical Turk), thousands of individuals working in isolation from one another painted a tiny part of the bill without knowledge of the overall task. Workers were paid one cent each via Amazon s Mechanical Turk distributed labor tool. The total labor cost to create the bill, the multi authored artwork being created, and the reproductions available for purchase (to charity) are all $100. (Koblin and Kawashima 2007) The producers and viewers of the work are carefully tracked on the website, even if they do not buy the work average times spent and the location of visitors from Egypt to the Philippines are logged. (Graham, 2014) New media artworks that are installed only online, and are site specific to the World Wide Web, must be considered carefully for interactive behaviours, but as the Internet is inherently interactive, net artists are well used to this. www_hack (2010) by Rui Guerra, for example, is a creative intervention onto specific web sites. A script installed on the host site allows all visitors to a single webpage to observe each others mouse movements at any one time. On a technical level, the work is based on a javascript that contacts a server where all the individual mouse positions are stored, displaying all the cursors in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Haiti In The Dust Bowl One of the most well known events in American history is the Great Depression, when the stock market crashed in 1929 and the United States economy reached its lowest point to date until 1939. During this time, thousands of Americans migrated to find work on farms in central and southwest United States. This land was known as the Dust Bowl. Similarly today, thousands of Haitians migrate to the Dominican Republic for the same reason, to find work. There are many works of literature that describe the lives of migrant workers, but one written specifically about the Dust Bowl is John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, which gives an inside view of the minds of migrant workers of the past, and can be related to present day. Although it may not seem obvious, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without labor migration, people may become enslaved instead, which is always the worst way of obtaining workers. These migrant workers receive wages that are substantial enough to support themselves, and hopefully their families. The whole idea of labor migration is seen less in more developed countries, and in a way hidden in a sense, as you can see with the United States continually attempting to block out migrants form Central and South America to maintain a national image. This is also seen in the Dominican Republic, trying to rebuild their national image to match that of countries such as the United States. John Steinbeck conveys the lives of migrant workers in an unusual way, showing their passion for success, how hard they work, and the extent that they will go to in order to be successful. He makes the life of a migrant worker seem to be a very difficult one in which nothing is guaranteed and hard work, though it is the only work accepted, may not get you anywhere. This is such a great way to make it out to be, because it is so true, that nothing in life comes easy, and even when you deserve something you may not get it. When tying all of this together, the Dust Bowl, Haiti, and Of Mice and Men, you can see that these migrant workers all face similar hardships ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analytic Thinking, Religion, and Prejudice The relation between and the intersection of religion and analytic thinking are complex and intransigently debated topic in the both social psychology and cognitive science literature for a decade. Moreover, the idea that religions facilitate acts that cause the negative attitudes toward especially religious out groups has relatively a long theoretical and empirical history in social psychology (Allport Ross, 1967; Altemeyer Hunsberger, 1992; Spilka, 1986; Whitley Bernard,1999) and is the main idea behind the evolutionary origins of religion (Atran Heinrich, 2010; Bering, 2011; Norenzayan Shariff, 2008; Preston Ritter, 2013; Rand et al., 2014; Shariff Norenzayan, 2007; Sosis Alcorta, 2003) which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In all experiments, those who primed with analytic thinking expressed less belief in a personal God: an average of about 41 on a 100 point scale for experimental group as compared to an average of 61 for control group. Although this finding is robust in different demographic variations, little is known about its applicability to different religions which have Big Gods . (The term Big Gods refer to omnipresent and omniscient moralizing agent (Shariff Norenzayan, 2007) and this is unique to the three big religions: Christianity, Judaism and Islam). Moreover, although they noted that the manipulations did merely a dip in religious beliefs of participants instead of an extreme change, it is unclear whether analytic thinking can decrease religious beliefs of highly religious people. Nevertheless, between subject design had no possibility to do that; therefore, a within subject replication of this effect is necessary to show its robustness. Religion and Prejudice Cooperation requires acting and working together for the mutual benefits of the members of the in group; that is, cooperative intentions toward in group members. Accordingly, it is generally thought that religiosity evolved with the object of constructing large scale societies where the anonymous interaction among genetically unrelated members of society is crucial (Norenzayan ... • 5. Using Windows And Osx ( Apple ) Introduction In this report I will be writing about the key components which are needed for any computer to be able to run and work. I will be writing about them in detail to show what they do and how they help make the computer work. I am also going to go over some extra components which can be added to make them run better and quicker. Along with the components, I am going to talk about what an operating system is and why it is needed. To go into more depth with operating systems I am going to compare features of Windows and OSX (Apple). Computer Components CPU (Central Processing Unit) The CPU is the core component of the computer which acts as the brain of the computer. The CPU is in charge of handling every instruction that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ALU is also where all the final processing is happening before it is sent back to the Register for the computer to use. The CU is part of the CPU which directs all the processors operations by conducting the input and output of a computer system. The Control Unit is the middle part between the Register and the ALU, decoding instructions and sending them to get executed by the ALU. The Register is a form of local storage space on the CPU which holds all the data which is being processed. It can usually occupy the top most position of memory, in which it provides high speed storage space and fast access to that data. (Computer Hope, 2014) Motherboard A Motherboard is the key circuit board of the computer and is where all the components are connected, this includes; CPU, ROM, RAM, expansion slots, PCI Slots, SATA, USB, etc. As you can see by Figure 2, there are a lot parts which make up a motherboard and can also be added to it. A Motherboard has a chipset which is a collection of chips and controllers. When a new model of motherboards are made, they have new updated chipsets which work better than previous chipsets. The bad thing about this is that some older components may not work with this new chipset and will have to be replaced with newer parts. • 6. Panther And Fire Analysis 1. A black 1973 Dodge Charger races down the decrepit crime ridden streets of Fittensburg. The car parks near the town s bar and a black woman who just goes by the name Panther, steps out. Scars are illustrated on a face that has been through the meat grinder of numerous battles. Yet, Panther wears them as if they are her badges of honor. Panther wears a leather jacket with Kevlar built in. Other people might think that it has seen better days, since sections are sloppily stitched together and bullet holes punctuate the outfit. The jacket hardly hangs on her shoulders and there is a canyon sized tear on the left sleeve. But Panther looks at it differently, to her it represent who she is as they are both worn down and battered. Different guns are concealed underneath her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She quiets them with alcohol but they never truly go away. Panther has an elemental desire to connect with someone, in order to achieve a sense of purpose. The voices never allow her to make peace with what she had done. In fact, the voices force her to wear a ring, that belonged to the person she betrayed, around her neck as a reminder of the crime she committed. There are two conflicting aspects of her personality that are waging a never ending war for control. The voices in her head are constantly freeing the animalistic side of who she is. A ticking time bomb waiting for any reason to explode, and god help anyone nearby when that happens. Then, you have the samurai side of her personality that is constantly struggling for control over that animal. Panther is a broken woman who has but one desire and that is to survive in this ... • 7. Application Of A Penetration Testing Against `` My House... Chapter 3: Practical test My House lab Scenario. For this coursework I have decided to perform a penetration testing against My House lab , to evaluate and improve my WLAN Infrastructure security. The scenario that I had examined is a WLAN Infrastructure Network using a Virgin Media Super Hub (Netgear) , with more than 10 devices connected . Looking on the internet about the router model I own I could make an interesting discovery. I found an article written by an expert in computer security, Paul Moore, dating back to March 2014(Paul Moore,2014). This guy, a year ago, had found a flaw inside the super hub of VirginMedia. Indeed reboot the router took 1 minute to start well, and in this minute for seven seconds was able to access the WiFi network without the need for key. Fortunately Paul contacted the Virgin who in turn contacted the Netgear to try to resolve the issue with the release of a new firmware. Now the problem is resolved, however is an interesting issue happened, because sometimes, our security depends not only on us and what we can do to protect it and keep it. Sometimes there may be larger obstacles, as in this case an error of firmware that we can circumvent but not eliminate (until the company responsible is not able to patch it). Methodologies I adopted different steps to performing penetration testing that is effective in testing how well the My House lab is secure. The food is very creative and delicious, always seasonal. We try our best to incorporate local ingredients into the menu. Our dishes are very time consuming and creative which is not a problem because we want what s best for our customers. We use Many different technique when preparing the food, my favorites are sous vide and smoking. One of the dishes that is mind blowing to me is the Charcuterie plate, it s consist of ten to fifteen meat including sausages, terrines and pate. The meats are all made in house, we also have 6 different pickles and Crostini. I got the pleasure of having a real dining experience twice at The Proprietor Bar and Table. Both time I have been there the food and service was remarkable. Working in the kitchen I taste most of the food especially on my station but I haven t tried any of the food on the Entree station. My first time eating at the restaurant was two weeks before I finished my Externship, I went in with a group of friends and we all get different dishes so we could get everything on the menu. However, you do not hear about suicide like I have so bluntly put it to you. We see suicide on the news and social media and it is written so positively. When Robin William s died of suicide in 2014 the media started the phrase Genie you are free , but could this quote be potentially glorifying suicide in a way that changes society s perception on suicide. • 11. Junk Mail And The Art Of Hype Essay example The art of hype pervades advertising of all kinds. You can see it everywhere you go. It s characterized by its extensive use of exclamation points, big words, powerful colors, and giant pictures. You re sure to see several trademark symbols and percentages that they claim you will save. What they hide are the details which are quite often exceptions to their claims and end up rendering their savings miniscule. These details are usually confined to quot;fine print quot; which they expect no one to read.No where is hype more prevalent, and indeed necessary, than in junk mail. But in junk mail, the sender knows that no one wants to read their sales pitch, and that, in fact, most of their mail goes straight into the trash can without much more than a glance. • 12. Essay about Transformation of Homewood West Community Homewood West is located on the eastern side of Pittsburgh and is one of the three neighborhoods that make up the Homewood community, along with Homewood North and Homewood South. Homewood West was once a thriving neighborhood with an abundance of upper class families and an economy that depended heavily on the city s railroad system, that made economic opportunities readily available and housing that was affordable and convenient (Allegheny County DHS 2010). African Americans were the first to inhabit Homewood, However many whites moved into the neighborhood, causing tension within the community, during a time period where racism was still a major factor in society. Now, Homewood West has a total population of 818 people, which has steadily declined since the 1950 s (U.S. Census 2010). This transformation has had some major effects on this neighborhood, making economic opportunities hard to find. A lack of quality education, and high crime rates have caused businesses to leave the area, creating vacant buildings and broken down homes, lowering the value of properties and the hopes of bringing businesses back to the community. Residents in Homewood are affected by all these things and have the community at a standstill, looking for ways to fix them. Demographics and Crime My first perception of Homewood made me a little nervous about the idea of going into a neighborhood with such a high crime rate, especially being a kid from a suburban area with mostly white middle class families. Going into a neighborhood that was 95.6 percent black was definitely out of my comfort zone (U.S. Census 2010). My perception of Homewood quickly changed however, once I started to talk to people there. To my surprise, many were well educated and very welcoming, and ambitious people, striving to make the community better. Many of them noted the issues in the neighborhood, and stated that they had a lot of work to do but they made me leave Homewood West with hope. As I started my journey into Homewood, I made my way down Franktown Avenue past the YWCA I started to see differences from the city and why a lot of residents are struggling to make ... • 13. The Effect Of Cost On The Profitability Of The Businesses... Introduction All businesses work with the main objective of making a profit. The determination of the profitability of the businesses will depend on the assessment of various factors of production as they contribute to the final income. The most primitive way of expressing the profit of a firm is through the subtraction of the costs from the revenues. Fixed cost is costs that are not changeable over a long period of time while the variable costs do change as time changes. Traditionally, the statement of accounts and profitability only took into consideration the interplay between the two factors costs and revenues. In this traditional statement, variable costs and fixed cost were treated similarly. The separation of the costs as either fixed cost or variable cost came into being with the advent of the margin statement. In simplest terms, contribution margin has been used to indicate the result of excess between the revenues and the variable costs. The contribution margin is therefore, an in depth statement of profit to take to account a lot of other financial variables in the like revenues, expenses, profits, and losses among others. Gross profit is a crude profit since it does not entirely belong to the company s revenue. These are some of the loopholes in the accounting that the contribution margin exists to seal and it does this through the consideration of net profit in the accounting period other than the gross profit. The most important application of the contribution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Palace Theif Character Analysis The story, Palace Theif, is a somewhat short story about a teacher s point of view of how deeply students can affect those around them. Others would disagree with how I would summarize the story but this I how truly felt after reading it. Sedgewick, and those related to him, had a huge impact on our narrator, Mr. Hundert. Even despite how after his student graduated he was still reminded by all of the experiences he shared with him. The first relationship would of course be Mr. Sedgewick himself. He is complicated boy with high status relations behind him, as he is related to the Senator, his father. During the first interaction with Sedgewick, Mr. Hundert was most likely aware that he was going to be a troublemaker of his class. However seemed shocked once he received Sedgewick s first exams. How poorly he did on it seemed surprising to him as it states, He was a poor student and on his first exam could not even tell me who it was that Mark Antony and Octavian had routed at Philippi, nor who Octavian later became, although an average wood beetle in the floor of my classroom could have done so with ease. (Line 12) This show exactly how he felt about Mr. Sedgewick. A simple no brainer. As Sedgewick s grades get lower and lower, Mr Hundert decides to have a meeting with his father. A Brief Note On The City Of London Exploring an Interdisciplinary Approach to Redeveloping the City of London, England This research report compiles studies from various disciplines regarding culture, social and economic concerns, the built environment, and the impact of urbanization in a growing city: London, England. The purpose of this report is to express the positive outcome that can occur when ethically redeveloping urban brownfields or derelict real estate by taking public policy, risk assessment, funding, historical knowledge, and cultural sensitivity into account over the course of the project. With the recent credit crunch due to loan defaults, the property market has suffered severely in its ability to provide affordable housing. International investors have invaded the property development scene in London to take advantage of available land and are causing forceful demographic changes by attracting buyers with more spending ability than local Londoners. This in turn will cause friction in the relationship that London s society has with its built environment. Throughout this report, I will explain how culture is effected when society s relationship with its surrounding environment changes and how ethical urban regeneration can stay true to the culture, whilst having a beneficial impact on social welfare. In order to have this effect, project managers must assess finance methods for development, current demographics, urban heritage, contamination levels, externalities, and cultural ecology ... The purpose of the present study focuses on the combination of the GIS mapping, to indicate the status of pollution status in the sketch of River Mouri, downstream to the wastewater outfalls. The GIS mapping of the eleven wastewater study parameters reveals that the high concentrations of BOD5, COD, DO, Color, Turbidity, TDS and TSS exceeding the permissible limits is present throughout the study portion of the river. In addition, it highlighted the portions where only few parameters such as PH, Chloride, Nitrate and Sulphate are deteriorating the riverine ecosystem. The GIS application in pollutant load assessment of the study further indicates that although few pollutants, discharged into river are relatively low in concentrations at one wastewater outfall point as compared to other but may have high pollutant load that may leads to significantly higher ecological impacts. The possible application of this study is for the decision makers to introduce optimum treatment engineering controls at points of interests, prior to its disposal into River Mouri to prevent the ecological damages and protect human health. Ethos, Logos, Pathos, And Malcolm X Declan Gunn Professor Cho Literature of the Americas October 13th, 2017 Ethos, Logos, Pathos, and Malcolm X Aristotle contends that persuasive speech is composed of three elements: ethos, logos, and pathos. In debate, we use these to construct our arguments. The first principle, ethos, can be expressed as a claim. The claim is the core of the argument; everything else goes to support it. I will commence this essay with the following claim: Malcolm X is not his own man. He is merely a mirror, an empty shell with a loud voice who echoes time and again the views of his mentors. There are multiple ways to test the rate of reaction between two substances, however the experiment we will be conducting involves placing a conical flask directly over a black coloured x and recording the time it takes for the x to become invisible after the two solutions react with each other. Aim: The overall aim of this experimental investigation is to further research and investigate the factors of temperature and concentration and how these two elements can alter or change the speed or rate of a reaction. The aim will be investigated thoroughly, with multiple experiments being conducted to ultimately fulfil this aim, with as much detail and data as possible so an in depth conclusion can be delivered. Hypothesis: It is hypothesised that when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is increased, the speed of the reaction will also increase, whereas when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is decreased, the speed of the reaction will decrease. This hypothesis correlates to the investigation because when the Hydrochloric acid is at a higher temperature, the solution that is mixed with it, in this case Sodium Thiosulphate, the rate at which the reaction occurs will be much faster. Whereas, when the temperature of the Hydrochloric acid is decreased, the Sodium Thiosulphate solution that will be mixed in will result in the rate at which the reaction occurs being much slower. It is also hypothesised that when the concentration of a solution in a chemical reaction is increased, the speed of the reaction increases. Whereas, on the other hand, when the concentration of the solution in the chemical reaction is decreased, the speed at which the reaction occurs will be far slower. This ... • 30. How To Survive The Sinking Of The RMS Titanic I always wondered, what if I survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic? Well, one day, I built a time machine in my basement. It took me a few years. Then, when I was 12, I jumped in. Suddenly, I was in an old fashioned car heading for a building. I got out of the car, and then I saw myself wearing a gown. I went inside the building that was in front of me, and I suddenly saw a man and 3 others, playing poker to win a Titanic Ticket. Then, I was offered to play poker for the same ticket. So I accepted the offer. As I played, I thought to myself, what if I win? What if I m on my way to New York? Then I stopped thinking. It was time to reveal my cards. One man, wearing ripped clothes, had 4 kings. The other man had 4 jacks. I had 4 aces! I won! ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Power Of The Druids The Power of the Druids In the Irish religion called druidism, the druids were extremely powerful, so powerful it seems that they even had to name the religion based upon these men and women of such high rank. Often called wizards, their powers were virtually limitless. Ranging from divination to creating potions to chanting spells, the druids were respected and, most likely, feared. Other than the magical abilities the druids possessed, they were also the exclusive possessors of whatever learning was then known (Joyce 44), meaning that they possessed all knowledge. Thus, they had even more power over the people because they were relied upon for information. Concerning their magic, the druids used it under many different circumstances and their interference greatly affected the outcome of a story. It is helpful to use and analyze specific examples of druids in stories to understand the mystical ways they wield their magic. In the story entitled Lord and Lady of the Wheel: the Careers of Mog Roith and Tlachtga , the vastness of a druid s power is well represented. Though known as a druid of wisdom and knowledge (Matthews 189), these are not the druidic traits of Mog Roith developed in the myth. In the first place, Mog Roith does not simply appear out of thin air or without any purpose, but he is called upon by King Fiacha of Munster to aid in the battle against Cormac mac Art. The King is currently on the verge of losing the war and he needs the help of a druid, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Good Bye Lenin Symbolism Within the film, Good Bye, Lenin!, the transition from a Socialist society to a post Socialist nation can be seen in the film s utilization of symbolism. Symbolism used within the film can be understood as reflective of the actual lives of German citizens, and from this imagery, the transition to post Socialism can be analyzed as bittersweet. Good Bye, Lenin! portrayed the conditioning of Socialist citizens by politicians, the citizens reliance on governmental support, the westernization of East Germany, and the gendered roles of men and women within society. Within the film s symbolic imagery, these portrayals further resonate the bittersweet transition of Germany s society and the reality of its citizens. It is from these various depictions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... by Alex, the film s main character. The transition is best described by Alex when he expresses his childhood interest in the cosmonaut, Sigmund Jahn. Within the film, as Alex verbally details his childhood interest in the cosmonaut s departure into space, a spaceship is visually seen leaving earth for space. The departure of the spaceship from earth into space is reflective of East Germany s transition from Socialism to post Socialism. This depiction of the cosmonaut is symbolic of how new and foreign post Socialism was to East German citizens, as space was to Sigmund Jahn. More importantly, the ascent into space by Jahn is also symbolic of the wanted achievements of Alex. Furthermore, this example of symbolism allows for the interpretation of distinct feelings of those experiencing the transition from Socialism to post Socialism may have felt to be acknowledged. Within Socialist societies, dependency on the government to require resources and resolution upon being given certain opportunities can be noted. During the transition to post Socialism, uncertainty of what a society free of Socialism would consist of, and freedom to exhibit characteristics that were condemned under Socialism can also be noted. In acknowledging the differences of feelings felt within Germany s Socialist and post Socialist society, the transition s description as bittersweet can be better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Magnet School In today s world violence, chaos, and death has become too common and too redundant. It seems as though every day there is a new story in the newspaper about police brutality , the corruptions of society , and civil wars within developing countries. Despite the fact that we can easily look up information about the daily traditions and values of different cultures around the world we fail to do so. The lack of knowledge about other people and societies ,besides our own, causes a shallow understanding of why people do the things we hear and see in the headlines. This magnet school appeals to me because I believe learning about the world s customs will help me in my future goals to become a journalist. I believe this magnet school will help me ... Often times the person writing the new story is unable to give a full representation of the situation at hand simply because they do not have the experiences of someone who has actually been a part of the group of people that were affected. Is the person writing the story has studied the culture and rituals of the people they will be able to give a clearer understanding of the story.Today many news stories are given from the point of view of someone on the outside looking in. However, I believe if they were written by someone who understood the culture of the people group they are talking about they could turn it into a story that is looking from the inside out. When people read a story that is in the perspective of the people that are experiencing changes, because of this I believe readers differently towards the dilemma at hand. For example, many people want to migrate from Syria into America because of all the chaos in their homeland. Many Americans, however feel that taking in Syrian refugees could be dangerous because they could possibly be a terroristic threat to America. I believe people feel this way because they have not been exposed to the fight that every Syrian is forced to grapple through every day. Most of the articles about Syrian refugees fail to recognize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Gastric Bypass 1. Roux en Y gastric bypass is a special procedure used to treat morbid obesity. Describe in detail the Roux en Y procedure. The Roux en Y procedure is a laparoscopic form of gastric surgery that uses trocars to manipulate the stomach. The patient must be positioned supine with their arms extended outward or in the lithotomy position. This is dependent on where the trocars are positioned. The surgeon uses monitors to see inside the abdominal cavity and places the trocars a fist length away from each other. Four 10mm trocars and two 5mm trocars are used for this surgery. Gastric ligaments are pulled down at the angle of His (Ayloo, 2014). The gastric pouch is then created by creating a window in the lesser sac (Ayloo, 2014). The stapler is then used to transect the stomach horizontally and then vertically at the angle of His . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, the omentum and transverse colon are retracted cranially which will expose the ligament of Treitz and the small bowel and mesentery are then stapled and divided at the jejunum of the stomach (Ayloo, 2014). The Roux limb of 150 cm is then bypassed into the stomach. Next, the jejunojejunal anastomosis is completed with the common enterotomy being hand sewn in a bilayer method (Ayloo, 2014). After this, the mesenteric defect is closed to prevent the formation of internal hernias and the Roux limb is brought out anticolic and antigastric (Ayloo, 2014). Next the gastrojejunal anastomosis located between the pouch and the Roux limb is performed in a double layered method. Gastrotomy and Enterotomy are performed once again. Then, the orogastric tube is placed through the anastomosis and the anterior layer is closed in a double layered method by suture. The anastomosis is then tested for any air leakage by submerging it with fluid by irrigation and inflating the orogastric tube with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
