The Samurai s Garden By Gail Tsukiyama
The Samurai s Garden, written by Gail Tsukiyama, incorporates the various aspect of myth throughout
the plot, from how the Japanese worship to the rituals they perform. Stephan san, a young Chinese
man, when he first arrived in Tarumi Japan, discovered the Japanese ritual of being clean. The
Japanese in this book had a strong desire to be sanitary in every aspect of their life both physically and
morally. They used to be physically clean to visualize being spiritually clean. Another part of the
mythology in this novel was the worshipping of the kami deities. These deities dwelled in the shrine
near Tarumi and Stephan san along with Matsu traveled to the shrine to worship and pray to the kami
fox deity, the Inari. Two facets of The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cleansing brings about purity and this is an important aspect of wabi cha, which is the name given to
the tea ceremony by the Japanese (Yamashita, 11). Along with cleansing themselves through the tea
ritual the Japanese people use daily bathing to remain clean both physically and mentally.
The bath was important to the Japanese culture and every night a Japanese family would take turns
soaking in their bath in order of seniority to relax after the stresses of the busy day (Wynn, 61). This
relaxing in the warm bath after a long day helps to cleanse them both mentally by refreshing their
mind and cleansing their soul, and physically by soaking in the soap that they placed in the water.
Anthropologist, Scott Clark, believed that bathing in Japan and being able to comprehend the reason
you are taking the bath is participating in something that is unique to the Japanese culture (Wynn, 62).
This is because cleansing the body in Japanese society means much more than just removing the dirt
from the outside of their body but it also symbolizes a deeper cleaning that reaches to the soul. This is
the part that makes cleanliness so important to the Japanese. Japan is unique from other cultures
because of its relationship among people being built on the act of immersing themselves in water
(Wynn, 61). Public baths were popular in early Japan but as the focus on cleanliness became more
important to their society, private baths became more popular. Families began to have a bath

Comparison Between Optical Telescope Systems And Modern...
Background knowledge:
The topic of this investigation is to compare and contrast three different optical telescope systems that
are used in modern day times. The three main telescope systems that will be focused on in this report
will be reflecting, refracting and cassegrain which is a combination of both and how different types of
error such as aberration effect the telescopes ability to capture an image and the quality of the image it
produces.
Reflecting telescopes use mirrors to reflect incoming light rays onto a secondary mirror which
magnifies it through an eye piece to form an image. (BBC, 2015)
When light rays come in contact with the mirror they are called the incident ray and then when the ray
reflects back off the mirror it is then called the reflected ray. As the light rays hit and leave the mirror
at particular angles these are titled angle of incidence and angle of reflection which can be seen in the
figure 2 below.
By the first law of reflection it is assumed that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of
incidence. This would only be true for totally reflective flat surfaces.
When light rays come into contact with convex and concave mirrors parallel to the normal they are
reflected onto a focal point . To find the focal point of a mirror, the mirror formula can be used.
1/f=1/u+1/v
Where f is the focal length, u is the objects actual distance away from the mirror and v is the distance
the image is formed from the mirror.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder Analysis
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is characterized by excessive anxiety and worry that is not
limited to one subject, situation or activity (Nevid, Rathus Greene, 2017). People with GAD are
known to worry about many things in their lives; their health, their finances, their well being and that
of their children. It is a worry that can be describe as excess and one that impairs one from functioning
(Nevid, Rathus Greene, 2017). Nevid, Rathus Greene, (2017) observe that from a learning perspective
anxiety would thus be connected with almost any environment or situation, hence connecting the issue
of anxiety with the learning process. Those struggling with GAD learn to associate what they observe

Drones Bad
Drones are widely discussed if there good or bad for the environment around them or if
In one way arguments are saying they could say that drones are peaceful and they help spot dangers
with their camera and that they could help spot terrorist attacks earlier. But in the other argument, they
say that they could say drones are a danger up high to pilots and that they can be used to spy on
people. But this is why drones are bad for society and that they can be used for a lot of scary stuff that
can be used against you.
One reason why People need to get rid of drones is that they can spy on people. They can be used to
spy on borders and they will think that People are spying on them because People don t trust them.

It can also be a possibility if a person gets something bad inside of your body or an infection in your
skin. They can also confuse or crash into pilots and if it s a passenger plane it can kill a lot of people
and it s more likely because other countries have them. Another reason that people need to get rid of
drones is because they can be used for terrorist attacks. They could attach something to the drone so it
can be used to attack us harshly and people wouldn t even see it coming. They can be used really
harshly against us and it could eventually start the third war and it can be more dangerous because of
all the technologically and because of small drones. Drones are hard to see so that s why it can be
dangerous for all countries and can lead to fewer allies for United states because people could also use
it or they can become more week.
Drones could be used to stop terrorist attacks and they could spy on killers and where terrorist camps
are. They could be used for spotting fires while they are starting or getting bigger and more spread

5th Muscular Organ
Hey guys, today, we re going to learn about the 5th biggest organ in our bodies, which is the heart if
you were wondering! The heart is an important organ that keeps our bodies running well and without
it, you wouldn t be able to live (at all). It is a muscular organ which exists in most animals bodies and
helps their blood circulate around the body. This muscular organ is part of the circulatory system and
has many bodily functions and interesting facts and details like how the organ works.
To begin, there are many functions that the heart does to keep your body running and alive. When you
breathe in oxygen, the heart pumps the oxygen rich blood throughout the body so that the body can
receive the oxygen. Then, after the body receives, the oxygen, you exhale the carbon dioxide that the
body makes and inhale the oxygen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average size of the heart is around the size of the fist of an adult and will beat and average of
115,000 times in a day! In a single day, the heart can pump around 2,000 gallons of blood around the
body it can keep beating even if it is disconnected from the body. The first open heart surgery was
done in 1893 by a person named Daniel Hale Williams who, at that time, was one of the few black
cardiologists in the whole entire world. Also, did you know that the youngest person that needed a
heart surgery was only like a minute old! The 1 minute old baby had a heart detect that made lots of
babies don t survive. The heart surgery that the baby had was successful so the baby didn t die but it
needed a heart transplant (which is a surgery that switches a person s heart with another) soon after the
surgery. Another interesting fact is that even though the American pygmy shrew is the smallest
mammal in the world, it has the fastest heartbeat of all of us mammals which a whopping average of

A Interview Meeting About John Daniels
In my interview session I interviewed John Daniels, who has been working with in the STEM and CIS
community for many years. In this session we spoke on his trials and tribulations, the career paths he
chose, and where it landed him in life. Mr. Daniels was raised in a segregated community where every
neighborhood was divided based on race. Even though everyone was close in each neighborhood,
there was still a division in the community as a whole. When John was growing up, teachers were like
an extension of his parents. They worked as a team to control their conduct and ensure their
educational needs were being met. Later the school system became intergraded and the atmosphere
changed drastically. There was tension amongst students and in most cases communication gaps
between student and teachers. Later, when he attended college, he chose to attend an HBCU over any
other institution to get the best college experience he could get. His college experience was full of
tradition and a close family like atmosphere. The HBCU Mr. Daniels chose to attend was Jackson
State University, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was not the only African American in his program being
that he went to an HBCU he was surrounded by people like him who grew up in communities like
him. His field of study was Computer Electronic Engineering he decided to follow through with a
career in electronics in the US Navy. After, graduating from college, because of the lack of jobs in his

The And Human Impact On Society
Time to Change Where to Start?
Financial reporting alone does not take into consideration the social, economic, and environmental
responsibilities of a business. On the other hand, financial reporting along with sustainability reporting
interconnects these responsibilities, and offers more comprehensive information about the financial
and human impact on society. Sustainability reporting discloses other relevant information about a
company that financial reporting lacks. Currently, laws and regulations are not designed with policies
and procedures to accommodate sustainability reporting. In order for companies to mitigate their risks
and environmental impact, as well as provide reliable reports, a mandatory sustainability report is ...

This more modern view of corporations is needed to level the playing field and facilitate stakeholders
confidence in businesses.
Success Stories
The sustainability reporting concept may still be new to a certain extent in the US. By contrast,
stakeholders have always demanded more transparency on financial reporting. Many countries in
Europe, Africa, and Asia have successfully adopted sustainability reporting as part of their corporate
governance. Interestingly, the US has lagged in fully embracing it. Companies that have opted to
integrate sustainability reporting have a distinct competitive advantage over those that only disclose its
financial position. Overtime, sustainability reporting contributes to the reduction of liabilities,
improves business performance, and adds value to society in general.
Some companies may think that sustainability reporting could have a negative impact in their
business. However, many businesses around the world are looking at it in the opposite manner. An
example is Johnson Johnson, a public traded company headquartered in New Brunswick, NJ. The
article A Model for Sustainability Reporting, issued by IMA in 2010, states that Johnson Johnson
began issuing formal sustainability reports in 1993 for which it has received widespread praise over
the years (Borkowski, Welsh, Wentzel, p. 30). Johnson Johnson is one of the top companies in the
United States to fully adopt sustainability, corporate social

Coding Graphic Design
Is Coding Important in Graphic Design? Despite what some new graphic designers say, coding is still
an important part of graphic design. This is hotly debated because graphic designers can use many
professional drag and drop tools to create beautifully functional websites. These tools allow graphic
designers to focus on fine turning their art and efficiently using their time. The graphic design industry
is highly competitive because there is always a readily available labor force of highly qualified, part
time professionals. Graphic designers who can code will increase their job competitiveness and enjoy

Essay on Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming
Dreams are the playground of the mind. Anything can happen when one is dreaming. The only
limitation is that we only rarely realize the freedoms granted to us in our dreams while we have them.
Lucid dreaming is the ability to know when one is dreaming, and be able to influence what will be
dreamt. A normal dream is much like passively watching a movie take place in your skull.
In a lucid dream, the dreamer is the writer, director, and star of the movie.
Lucid dreams are exceptionally interesting. Lucid dreaming is defined as dreaming when the dreamer
knows that they are dreaming. The term was coined during the 1910Õs by Frederik van Eeden who
used the word lucid in the sense of mental clarity (Green, 1968). ... Show more content on

Furthermore, lucid dreams can be even more informative about the self than non lucid dreams,
because one can observe the development of the dream out of oneÕs feelings and tendencies, while
being aware that one is dreaming and that the dream is coming from the self. The notion that dreams
are unconscious processes that should remain so is false. Waking consciousness is always present in
dreams. If it were not, we would not be able to remember our dreams, because one can only remember
an event that has been consciously experienced. The added consciousness of lucid dreaming is nothing
more than the awareness of being in the dream state. The first thing that attracts people to lucid
dreaming is often the potential for adventure and fantasy fulfillment. Flying is a favorite lucid dream
delight, as is sex. Many people have said that their first lucid dream was the most wonderful
experience of their lives. A large part of the extraordinary pleasure of lucid dreaming comes from the
exhilarating feeling of utter freedom that accompanies the realization that one is in a dream, where
there will be no social or physical consequences of oneÕs actions. Unfortunately for many people,
instead of providing an outlet for unlimited fantasy and delight, dreams can be dreaded episodes of
limitless terror. Lucid dreaming may well be the basis of the most

To what extent does environment play an important role in character s behaviour towards others?
Books: Great Expectations, Charles Dickens, 1861 Lord of the Flies, William Golding, 1954
Environment is a vital factor in determining the behaviour of characters; the books both agree and
contradict with each other though. William Golding is of the view that humans share an innate evil: he
strips boys of the order of society; he places them in a primitive environment; and in the subsequent
story, their conduction descends from that of being civilised into that of evil chaos. He employs
Simon, a boy of rare quality, to illustrate this by having him realise that the beast is not real, it exists
only inside us . Charles Dickens writes about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as time goes on and civilisation seems further away, as hope and want of being rescued
fades, their system degenerates. The ever present violence succeeds peace: originally it starts of as

when they eventually hunt their first pig, Jack boasts, You should have seen the blood! ; the boys kill
Simon in a frenzied ritual dance, even Jack and Piggy are not innocent as they too were present though
they try to forget it; Piggy is killed; then Ralph is hunted like an animal, by the savages of Jack s
dictatorship, he only survives because he runs into the British Navy on the beach. In Great
Expectations, Pip is an innocent boy to start off with. The reader sympathises him, from the outset he
is identified as an orphan and Mrs. Joe, his sister who many adults keep spitefully reminding Pip
brought [him] up by hand , abuses him. She is always shouting at him and punishes him with things
such as the Tickler. Pip is also berated at the Christmas dinner: Mrs. Hubble asked, Why is it that the
young are never grateful? This moral mystery seemed too much for the company until Mr. Hubble
tersely solved it by saying, Naterally wicious.

A School For Unusual Girls
Okay, I don t know what else to say besides the fact that I absolutely loved this book. I really enjoy
books that take place in historical settings, like The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare and
His Fair Assassin series by Robin LaFevers. This book was sort of a mix between the two. Set in 1814
London, we are introduced to Georgiana Fitzwilliam who is currently trapped in a carriage with her
parents on their way to this infamous boarding school. From what we learn in the synopsis, this

There is so much mystery and danger throughout the book, it is so deceptively written than you don t

Mercy and Clockwork Angel, or to anyone who enjoys spy novels and historical fiction. This book is
much more than just a spy novel, at least in my opinion, but it seems a somewhat fitting classification.
I would say this book is appropriate for ages thirteen and up, the proper decorum of the characters and
situations eliminates a lot of adult content which makes it appropriate for younger readers. There is
still a lot that goes on, and the few kisses that are there are intense. This will be one of the series I

because her mother abandoned her. Although Gilly was not happy about her life, she started to change,

Explore the claim that a consumer society is always a throw away society.
In this essay I will be outlining consumerism and claims that a consumer society is always a throw
away society. Consumption plays a big part in our lives and causes us to live in divided societies. It
may make us feel like we fit in buying new gadgets and clothes and also give us that sense of
belonging but we don t take into account what happens to the old items and packaging. People do not
want to look at the problems caused. I will use this essay with the evidence I have read ... Show more

We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it is
made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even children
in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is said to be less
than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large stores like
Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working
60 to 90 hours every week for as little as £17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in
the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and
business was took elsewhere.
The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more
choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work but now
that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which ends with
people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. This results in the old ones being
thrown away. People are constantly upgrading and renewing items to better models. Mobile phones
bring out new models every year which people feel the need to buy to keep up with the trend and
because they want the newest gadgets on the street. Pcs have changed to laptops which gives the pc no

for this material to be used in the catching of the car. Graphene also stretches up to twenty percent

similar properties also making it suitable except for the fact it possibly shatters being brittle. Carbon
nanotube is again very similar to graphene but also more flexible possibly making it the best material

Carrion Comfort, By Gerard Manley Hopkins
Carrion Comfort by Gerard Manley Hopkins Gerard Manley Hopkins was a talented poet, and he was
also extremely devoted to his faith. He used his poetry as an avenue in which to express his love and
praise to his Creator, and many of his poems are beautiful hymns of adoration. Carrion Comfort,
however, is one of his terrible sonnets. Hopkins not only wrote about the beautiful part of faith, but
also the questioning and suffering that inevitably comes during a person s spiritual journey. The
Petrarchan or Italian sonnet was one of Hopkins s favorite forms of poetry and one that he employed
frequently in his writing. Hopkins enjoyed the fusion of form and content, and the structure of an

The problem of Carrion Comfort is clearly introduced in the first line of the poem as the speaker
laments, Not, I ll not, carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee (line 1). Despair in this poem is
symbolized by carrion. By refusing to feast on the carrion, the speaker is also refusing to allow
himself to wallow in despair, though it may produce the same sort of comfort as a great feast might.
Though he apostrophizes the carrion, however, addressing it directly as Despair, the first quatrain is
more of a personal battle as the speaker struggles with himself internally. According to the Oxford
English Dictionary (OED), the term carrion can be applied to a dead man that walks on the Earth, as
well as the carcass of a dead animal. The speaker fears that, should he give in to the despair that is
before him, he would be just such a man alive physically, but emotionally and spiritually dead, similar
to a corpse. He declares his desire for humanity when he commands Despair not to ...untwist slack

connotations. It could refer to a line of pedigree, possibly the line of mankind, in which case the
speaker would be appealing to the whole of mankind, formed by twisting together the diverse people
of the world, to encourage him. Strand could also mean streams of blood, such as those Christ shed for

Humanity In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery

typically come to mind. But that is not the case with Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery .
Whereas lotteries typically have a positive connotation, Jackson s lottery is quite the opposite Jackson
s sinister tale, published in the late 1940s, was written in order to highlight the pointless violence and
general inhumanity that was present in the world. Jackson s writing was meant to shock, and in doing
so, make the story s message memorable to readers. In her story, Jackson uses seemingly ordinary
details about the townspeople and the lottery itself, to emphasize her theme that although humanity
claims to be civilized, it is, in reality, inherently barbaric.

The And The Industrial Man
Since the founding of America, no singular method of governmental role has been adopted. The
concept of governmental role in American society is a subjective point. While some believe in a strong
government that controls and expands its role over many aspects of American society, others believe
that limiting government power is necessary to having a thriving society and economy. Clark Kerr
wrote the document Industrialism and the Industrial Man which highlights and explains the
perspective of having a centralized government in power. Contrastingly, Capitalism and Freedom,
written by Milton Friedman is in support of a limited government and placing a check on concentrated
power. Both documents reflect the two different styles of government and provide context to their
functions and the application of their duties. In Industrialism and the Industrial Man, Clark Kerr
depicts the concept of an industrial society characterized by a government that has a wide range of
activities and functions it controls. In this industrial society, the government provides and controls
technology, infrastructure, urban development, military, international relations, education, parks,
healthcare, and many other services to society. The government also keeps order of the economy,
controlling the labor and product markets. Even though this big government has many functions and
controls a large sector of society, Kerr explains that the freedom and personal liberty of the people will
not be placed in

Health Care Services Service Services
At present, the services sector continues to experience increasingly large growth, which occupies a
privileged position in the country s economy. The health service is situated in this part because of the
essential services that it provides for individuals, community health and peoples. Furthermore, the
health situation in a community presents an understandable picture of the extent of economic, social
and cultural development, which is why countries aspire to make progress and to increase interest in
the services provided by health institutions.
Undoubtedly the health care service is facing an increasingly complex challenge regarding the
provision of high quality services. According to the complexity of health care services and systems,
exploring and explaining the availability, utilisation, costs, quality and accessibility; the delivery and
continuity of health care services is the key to informing government officials, health insurers, health
providers, and the public and decision makers on the subject of health related issues. Therefore,
deciding health care needs and providing correct reactions to them ought not to be just the
employment of specialists. Rather, it must include the cooperation of different specialists who work
with and in the health care system consistently (Ashworth et al., 1992).

Greed And Abuse Of Power In Animal Farm And V For Vendetta
Greed and Abuse of power in Animal Farm and V for Vendetta
The story of Animal Farm written by George Orwell, and the Film V for vendetta produced by James
McTeigue both explore the driving forces behind greed and power. In each of these stories there are
many similarities of the concept of abusing power. Both stories also demonstrate that they don t follow
the key importance of communism, that is communism only works if everyone is equal.
The biggest theme in both stories is that the leaders, Chancellor Sutler, Napoleon and Snowball all
demonstrate their need to have total dominance and power over their civilians. In the film the
government of England at the time appears to be very selfish and has no interest in the public s views
on problems and suggestions, they seem like they are in strict control of the populations lifestyle and
they don t have, much freedom. In the film V says People should not be afraid of their governments.
Governments should be afraid of their people . As the film goes on this is shown by the civilians not
being happy with the leaders, leading to people getting angry and uprises and attracts take place on the
government. In the Animal farm book the animals also show their disgust towards their leaders. In the
first chapter, Old Major say What then must we do? Why, work night and day, body and soul, for the
overthrow of the human race! and That is my message to you, comrades: Rebellion! . These messages

Organizational Leadership Paper
Organizational Leadership
Description of Organizational Leadership
Organizational leadership is a twofold management style that works towards what is best for
employees/ people and what is greatest for the company or group as a whole at the same time. It is
also a mind set and a work ethic that empowers an individual in any role to lead from the top, middle,
or bottom of an organization (Technologies, 2017).
Key Factors During my research for this paper I learned that there are five key Factors of
organizational leadership which are, Worldview, Strength, communication, ethics and leadership.
Worldview is a complex image created from the different ways which people view the world. It is not
focused on identity, political stance, or religious viewpoints, although it does include these
(Technologies, 2017). This compiles everything a person thinks about the world, joining together the
real and the indefinable. Worldview can be described by attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and ideas that
influence people. Additionally, organizational leadership requires an understanding of the combined
worldview of the organization, which consists of the many various and sometimes conflicting
worldviews of the people within that organization (Technologies, 2017). A great leader is someone
who can see the strength in others and themselves and use those strengths to their advantage, and at
the same time work around weaknesses. Strength can be defined as consistent, near perfect
performance in an activity. A person should perform an activity at approximately a 95% rate of ...

Child Welfare Problems
The child welfare system is a group of services designed to promote the well being of children by
ensuring safety, achieving permanency, and strengthening families to successfully care for their
children. Most families first become involved with the child welfare system due to a report of
suspected child abuse or neglect (how does the system work). However, there are many problems and
challenges the child welfare system is facing, due to lack of funding and resources, and also due to the
way the welfare system works in our country.
One major problem with the way the child welfare system works is the government not prioritizing the
needs of the children. The main goal of the child welfare system is to keep families together. They do
whatever they can to create stable families and ensure that the children get to remain with their
biological families (a wicked problem). But, at what cost? The government does not care for the needs
of the children nor do they bother to think what will happen to these children in the long term. One
child can get removed from their family and placed in one foster home. They could be there for a
certain amount of time and then one day out of the blue they are taken and placed in another home.
This cycle could repeat as many times as the system wants (social and economic consequences). This
however, has a numerous amount of consequences that could face the child. For instance, neglect and
abandonment issues as well as attachment issues could

Factors Affecting Tax Compliance of Small and Medium Scale...
Background of the Study
Tax compliance has been a topic of great interest to Revenue authorities especially in the developed
countries. Hostility towards tax compliance is an age old problem. Taxes are considered a problem by
everyone. Not surprising, taxation problems date back to the earliest recorded history (Taxworld
Organization, 1999).
Developing countries, perhaps due to their frequent budget deficits have not been able to conduct
comprehensive research on the behavior of taxpayer in relation to compliance. Hostility between the
taxpayers and tax collectors on issue relating to tax compliance is evidenced by frequent tax evasion
reports in our local newspapers (Juma, 2010) and outward resistance from taxpayers for example the

An experiment with presumption tax (abolished in 1993 and re introduced in 1995) was a particularly
notable attempt to formalize parts of the informal agricultural sector (Cheeseman and Griffins, 2005).
Further attempts focused on the use of advance tax and tax on rental incomes. However, given the
invisibility of the informal sector and scarce empirical work to understand tax relevant information,
the presumption tax approach and the advance tax approaches failed to achieve the intended
objectives. It is not difficult to understand why they could not work. If the Government does not know
about the income received by farmers, farm workers and small scale entrepreneurs, it can have no
prospects of taxing it. This creates the need for a proper income survey to determine the optimal tax
yield, the ability and willingness to pay.
The advent of the East African Community customs union further complicates the tax compliance risk
management problem. In 2005, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania signed a treaty forming the East Africa
Community (EAC) customs union which has now been expanded to include Rwanda and Burundi.
The purpose of the customs union is to promote trade and other elements of regional development.
The dominant feature of the customs union is that member states agreed to reduce tariffs. The Heads
of State reached an agreement to

Jiminez to minimize the impact of the open mail sent by Sarah. The mail would create complications
in the future relations between the two institutes and a speedy response would strengthen the
relationship in the future. Professor McGill should be first apologetic to Dr. Jiminez on behalf of
Sarah and PLU since the problem faced by Sarah was with the host family and not with INI or the
Agencies. He should bring the attention of Dr. Jiminez to the fact that the very critical aspect of cross
cultural adjustments was overlooked by both the schools when they embarked on these programmes.
To streamline the process and avoid such embarrassing situations in future, Prof. McGill should
suggest the following to Dr.Jiminez:
a. The host family and INI should have written agreement of dos and donts.
b. Both the schools should exchange the profiles of the students and host families based on which the
students and host families could have an opportunity to select their choice.
c. There should be a proper preparatory sessions on cross cultural behavior for the students who are
opting for study abroad opportunities.

Women In Medieval Times
A woman in medieval times was not considered a person, but property. A woman would be forced to
wear layers of drab clothing, the style determining their social class ranking. A woman of wealth
would wear decadent gowns and women in poverty would wear plain spun dresses. Their goal in life
was to find a husband, to give in to his whims and be the epitome of submission. Sometimes, peasant
girls would be forced to take up a trade prior to marriage. After the marriage, she was forced to give
up this trade, the skill she possessed, and either maintain the lifestyle as a housewife, or help her
husband with his trade. In regards to whom a woman married, there was little to no choice in the
matter. Often, girls were married to strange men, men they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A woman s alternative would be becoming a nun, giving up all social freedoms and dedicating your
life to serving the poor and God. Women who were subject to this life received a much more thorough
education than other women, in order to properly learn religious concepts and theory. Otherwise, a
woman s education was limited to basic reading abilities paired with instruction on how to do homely
activities. A woman of this time period had utterly no voice in politics. Law was man s law. The life of
these women were controlled by the men who surround them, their opinions meaning little to nothing.
The life of a woman in medieval times was bleak and varied little. Romantic literature was on the rise,
full of damsels in distress that only further perpetuated negative stereotypes of women during these
times. These romances were full of helpless women in situations only a man could get them out of, or
else they would be doomed. Despite this cultural oppression of women in this time period, some
strong female characters were erected in medieval romances. A perfect example of an abnormally
strong and independent female main character would be Enide from Erec and Enide written by

Central African Republic Research Paper
The earliest group of settlers in the area, now known as the Central African Republic, were hunter
gatherers who first settled there 10,000 years ago. Many settled by the Ubangi River which is located
in the eastern part of the Central African Republic. They became farmers who specialized in growing
yams, millet, sorghum, and bananas and domesticated the African palm oil. Beginning in the 1500s,
Muslim slave traders began to attack the region capturing and enslaving many native Africans using
the Ubangi River to transport them to the coastal ports where they would be sold to the Americas.
In 1875, this region was governed by the sultan of Sudan, Rabih az Zubayr, who called his empire
Oubangui. In 1887, France legally claimed the land to the right of the Ubangi river. In 1889, the
French built their first outpost at Bangui, which is today s capital of the Central African Republic. The
French began occupying this area in 1894 but, due to the Rabih War a colonial government was not
established until 1903. In 1910, the French government joined the five French colonies known as the

  • 2. The Samurai s Garden By Gail Tsukiyama The Samurai s Garden, written by Gail Tsukiyama, incorporates the various aspect of myth throughout the plot, from how the Japanese worship to the rituals they perform. Stephan san, a young Chinese man, when he first arrived in Tarumi Japan, discovered the Japanese ritual of being clean. The Japanese in this book had a strong desire to be sanitary in every aspect of their life both physically and morally. They used to be physically clean to visualize being spiritually clean. Another part of the mythology in this novel was the worshipping of the kami deities. These deities dwelled in the shrine near Tarumi and Stephan san along with Matsu traveled to the shrine to worship and pray to the kami fox deity, the Inari. Two facets of The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cleansing brings about purity and this is an important aspect of wabi cha, which is the name given to the tea ceremony by the Japanese (Yamashita, 11). Along with cleansing themselves through the tea ritual the Japanese people use daily bathing to remain clean both physically and mentally. The bath was important to the Japanese culture and every night a Japanese family would take turns soaking in their bath in order of seniority to relax after the stresses of the busy day (Wynn, 61). This relaxing in the warm bath after a long day helps to cleanse them both mentally by refreshing their mind and cleansing their soul, and physically by soaking in the soap that they placed in the water. Anthropologist, Scott Clark, believed that bathing in Japan and being able to comprehend the reason you are taking the bath is participating in something that is unique to the Japanese culture (Wynn, 62). This is because cleansing the body in Japanese society means much more than just removing the dirt from the outside of their body but it also symbolizes a deeper cleaning that reaches to the soul. This is the part that makes cleanliness so important to the Japanese. Japan is unique from other cultures because of its relationship among people being built on the act of immersing themselves in water (Wynn, 61). Public baths were popular in early Japan but as the focus on cleanliness became more important to their society, private baths became more popular. Families began to have a bath ... • 3. Comparison Between Optical Telescope Systems And Modern... Background knowledge: The topic of this investigation is to compare and contrast three different optical telescope systems that are used in modern day times. The three main telescope systems that will be focused on in this report will be reflecting, refracting and cassegrain which is a combination of both and how different types of error such as aberration effect the telescopes ability to capture an image and the quality of the image it produces. Reflecting telescopes use mirrors to reflect incoming light rays onto a secondary mirror which magnifies it through an eye piece to form an image. (BBC, 2015) When light rays come in contact with the mirror they are called the incident ray and then when the ray reflects back off the mirror it is then called the reflected ray. As the light rays hit and leave the mirror at particular angles these are titled angle of incidence and angle of reflection which can be seen in the figure 2 below. By the first law of reflection it is assumed that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. This would only be true for totally reflective flat surfaces. When light rays come into contact with convex and concave mirrors parallel to the normal they are reflected onto a focal point . To find the focal point of a mirror, the mirror formula can be used. 1/f=1/u+1/v Where f is the focal length, u is the objects actual distance away from the mirror and v is the distance the image is formed from the mirror. But in the other argument, they say that they could say drones are a danger up high to pilots and that they can be used to spy on people. But this is why drones are bad for society and that they can be used for a lot of scary stuff that can be used against you. They could attach something to the drone so it can be used to attack us harshly and people wouldn t even see it coming. They can be used really harshly against us and it could eventually start the third war and it can be more dangerous because of all the technologically and because of small drones. • 7. A Interview Meeting About John Daniels In my interview session I interviewed John Daniels, who has been working with in the STEM and CIS community for many years. In this session we spoke on his trials and tribulations, the career paths he chose, and where it landed him in life. Mr. Daniels was raised in a segregated community where every neighborhood was divided based on race. Even though everyone was close in each neighborhood, there was still a division in the community as a whole. When John was growing up, teachers were like an extension of his parents. They worked as a team to control their conduct and ensure their educational needs were being met. Later the school system became intergraded and the atmosphere changed drastically. There was tension amongst students and in most cases communication gaps between student and teachers. Later, when he attended college, he chose to attend an HBCU over any other institution to get the best college experience he could get. His college experience was full of tradition and a close family like atmosphere. The HBCU Mr. Daniels chose to attend was Jackson State University, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was not the only African American in his program being that he went to an HBCU he was surrounded by people like him who grew up in communities like him. This more modern view of corporations is needed to level the playing field and facilitate stakeholders confidence in businesses. Success Stories The sustainability reporting concept may still be new to a certain extent in the US. By contrast, stakeholders have always demanded more transparency on financial reporting. Many countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia have successfully adopted sustainability reporting as part of their corporate governance. Interestingly, the US has lagged in fully embracing it. Companies that have opted to integrate sustainability reporting have a distinct competitive advantage over those that only disclose its financial position. Overtime, sustainability reporting contributes to the reduction of liabilities, improves business performance, and adds value to society in general. Some companies may think that sustainability reporting could have a negative impact in their business. However, many businesses around the world are looking at it in the opposite manner. An example is Johnson Johnson, a public traded company headquartered in New Brunswick, NJ. The article A Model for Sustainability Reporting, issued by IMA in 2010, states that Johnson Johnson began issuing formal sustainability reports in 1993 for which it has received widespread praise over the years (Borkowski, Welsh, Wentzel, p. 30). • 11. Essay on Lucid Dreaming Lucid Dreaming Dreams are the playground of the mind. Anything can happen when one is dreaming. The only limitation is that we only rarely realize the freedoms granted to us in our dreams while we have them. Lucid dreaming is the ability to know when one is dreaming, and be able to influence what will be dreamt. A normal dream is much like passively watching a movie take place in your skull. In a lucid dream, the dreamer is the writer, director, and star of the movie. Lucid dreams are exceptionally interesting. Lucid dreaming is defined as dreaming when the dreamer knows that they are dreaming. The term was coined during the 1910Õs by Frederik van Eeden who used the word lucid in the sense of mental clarity (Green, 1968). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, lucid dreams can be even more informative about the self than non lucid dreams, because one can observe the development of the dream out of oneÕs feelings and tendencies, while being aware that one is dreaming and that the dream is coming from the self. The notion that dreams are unconscious processes that should remain so is false. Waking consciousness is always present in dreams. If it were not, we would not be able to remember our dreams, because one can only remember an event that has been consciously experienced. The added consciousness of lucid dreaming is nothing more than the awareness of being in the dream state. The first thing that attracts people to lucid dreaming is often the potential for adventure and fantasy fulfillment. Flying is a favorite lucid dream delight, as is sex. Many people have said that their first lucid dream was the most wonderful experience of their lives. A large part of the extraordinary pleasure of lucid dreaming comes from the exhilarating feeling of utter freedom that accompanies the realization that one is in a dream, where there will be no social or physical consequences of oneÕs actions. Unfortunately for many people, instead of providing an outlet for unlimited fantasy and delight, dreams can be dreaded episodes of limitless terror. Lucid dreaming may well be the basis of the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Books: Great Expectations, Charles Dickens, 1861 Lord of the Flies, William Golding, 1954 Environment is a vital factor in determining the behaviour of characters; the books both agree and contradict with each other though. William Golding is of the view that humans share an innate evil: he strips boys of the order of society; he places them in a primitive environment; and in the subsequent story, their conduction descends from that of being civilised into that of evil chaos. I really enjoy books that take place in historical settings, like The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare and His Fair Assassin series by Robin LaFevers. Set in 1814 London, we are introduced to Georgiana Fitzwilliam who is currently trapped in a carriage with her parents on their way to this infamous boarding school. We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it is made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even children in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is said to be less than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large stores like Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working 60 to 90 hours every week for as little as £17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and business was took elsewhere. The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work but now that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which ends with people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. He used his poetry as an avenue in which to express his love and praise to his Creator, and many of his poems are beautiful hymns of adoration. Carrion Comfort, however, is one of his terrible sonnets. Hopkins not only wrote about the beautiful part of faith, but also the questioning and suffering that inevitably comes during a person s spiritual journey. The problem of Carrion Comfort is clearly introduced in the first line of the poem as the speaker laments, Not, I ll not, carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee (line 1). Despair in this poem is symbolized by carrion. By refusing to feast on the carrion, the speaker is also refusing to allow himself to wallow in despair, though it may produce the same sort of comfort as a great feast might. Though he apostrophizes the carrion, however, addressing it directly as Despair, the first quatrain is more of a personal battle as the speaker struggles with himself internally. According to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), the term carrion can be applied to a dead man that walks on the Earth, as well as the carcass of a dead animal. The speaker fears that, should he give in to the despair that is before him, he would be just such a man alive physically, but emotionally and spiritually dead, similar to a corpse. He declares his desire for humanity when he commands Despair not to ...untwist slack they may be these last strands of man / In me... (lines 2,3). The word strands carries multiple connotations. While some believe in a strong government that controls and expands its role over many aspects of American society, others believe that limiting government power is necessary to having a thriving society and economy. Clark Kerr wrote the document Industrialism and the Industrial Man which highlights and explains the perspective of having a centralized government in power. Contrastingly, Capitalism and Freedom, written by Milton Friedman is in support of a limited government and placing a check on concentrated power. Both documents reflect the two different styles of government and provide context to their functions and the application of their duties. In this industrial society, the government provides and controls technology, infrastructure, urban development, military, international relations, education, parks, healthcare, and many other services to society. Organizational Leadership Paper Organizational Leadership Description of Organizational Leadership Organizational leadership is a twofold management style that works towards what is best for employees/ people and what is greatest for the company or group as a whole at the same time. It is also a mind set and a work ethic that empowers an individual in any role to lead from the top, middle, or bottom of an organization (Technologies, 2017). Key Factors During my research for this paper I learned that there are five key Factors of organizational leadership which are, Worldview, Strength, communication, ethics and leadership. Worldview is a complex image created from the different ways which people view the world. It is not focused on identity, political stance, or religious viewpoints, although it does include these (Technologies, 2017). This compiles everything a person thinks about the world, joining together the real and the indefinable. Worldview can be described by attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and ideas that influence people. Additionally, organizational leadership requires an understanding of the combined worldview of the organization, which consists of the many various and sometimes conflicting worldviews of the people within that organization (Technologies, 2017). A great leader is someone who can see the strength in others and themselves and use those strengths to their advantage, and at the same time work around weaknesses. Most families first become involved with the child welfare system due to a report of suspected child abuse or neglect (how does the system work). However, there are many problems and challenges the child welfare system is facing, due to lack of funding and resources, and also due to the way the welfare system works in our country. One major problem with the way the child welfare system works is the government not prioritizing the needs of the children. The main goal of the child welfare system is to keep families together. They do whatever they can to create stable families and ensure that the children get to remain with their biological families (a wicked problem). But, at what cost? The government does not care for the needs of the children nor do they bother to think what will happen to these children in the long term. One child can get removed from their family and placed in one foster home. They could be there for a certain amount of time and then one day out of the blue they are taken and placed in another home. However, given the invisibility of the informal sector and scarce empirical work to understand tax relevant information, the presumption tax approach and the advance tax approaches failed to achieve the intended objectives. It is not difficult to understand why they could not work. If the Government does not know about the income received by farmers, farm workers and small scale entrepreneurs, it can have no prospects of taxing it. This creates the need for a proper income survey to determine the optimal tax yield, the ability and willingness to pay. The mail would create complications in the future relations between the two institutes and a speedy response would strengthen the relationship in the future. He should bring the attention of Dr. Jiminez to the fact that the very critical aspect of cross cultural adjustments was overlooked by both the schools when they embarked on these programmes. To streamline the process and avoid such embarrassing situations in future, Prof. McGill should suggest the following to Dr.Jiminez: a. The host family and INI should have written agreement of dos and donts. b. Both the schools should exchange the profiles of the students and host families based on which the students and host families could have an opportunity to select their choice. c. • 37. Women In Medieval Times A woman in medieval times was not considered a person, but property. A woman would be forced to wear layers of drab clothing, the style determining their social class ranking. A woman of wealth would wear decadent gowns and women in poverty would wear plain spun dresses. Their goal in life was to find a husband, to give in to his whims and be the epitome of submission. Sometimes, peasant girls would be forced to take up a trade prior to marriage. After the marriage, she was forced to give up this trade, the skill she possessed, and either maintain the lifestyle as a housewife, or help her husband with his trade. Beginning in the 1500s, Muslim slave traders began to attack the region capturing and enslaving many native Africans using the Ubangi River to transport them to the coastal ports where they would be sold to the Americas. In 1875, this region was governed by the sultan of Sudan, Rabih az Zubayr, who called his empire Oubangui. In 1887, France legally claimed the land to the right of the Ubangi river. In 1889, the French built their first outpost at Bangui, which is today s capital of the Central African Republic. The French began occupying this area in 1894 but, due to the Rabih War a colonial government was not established until 1903.
