I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died by Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was likely influenced by epitaphs on tombstones. She uses floral language like
Frances Osgood, and did not write the way the general public thought women should write, like the
way of Helen Hunt Jackson. It is possible that is the reason she did not publish her works (Petrino). In
the poem I heard a fly buzz when I died , Emily Dickinson uses metaphors in order to say that
everyone dies and it is not always the most desirable way to die. Emily Dickinson was part of the
American Transcendentalist movement. The word transcendental means character, thought, or action,
so it is no surprise the movement was called Transcendentalism. The transcendentalists often worked
together, unlike poets from other movements (webexhibits.org). The transcendentalists, particularly
the women, often wrote about death and many people wonder why (Noble). The poem I Heard a Fly
Buzz When I Died is about a person lying on their death bed after having a will written. The persona,
the person telling the story as a narrator, has been distracted by a fly.
Emily Dickinson used metaphors, foreshadowing, and personification in I Heard a fly Buzz When I
Died. A metaphor is a comparison of two unlike things. An extended metaphor is a metaphor that
extends through stanzas or even through the entire poem. The poem is an extended metaphor,
comparing the random, ugly fly and an

Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and the
Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his adventures
and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps keep track of
the confusion, which unfolds during the play.
There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual comedy.
The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form a critical
undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. Shakespeare requires that all the action
end at five o clock, the time of Egeon s execution, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon at
the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has overcome his
selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers.
The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes
from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters trying to
find their true identities.
Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus first
uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is trying to find
another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search for his lost brother
and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her husband, and compares their
division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of two people, and implies an
intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not necessarily essentially entertaining.
A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom.
Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made
obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their wives.
This finishes in the end scenes where

Kant s Claim That Good Will Is The Only Intrinsic Good
Katie Russell Jennifer Thorington PHIL1320.040 11/19/15 Kant ethics As it is a stated fact, Kant s
claim is that good will is the only intrinsic good. Now, what exactly does Kant mean by this claim that
he makes? I think that it is important to mention what good will is. So, good will has two parts, one is
the ability to determine what your duty is and two is have a steady commitment to do your duty for its
own sake. Intrinsic goods are those things that whose value consists in the fact that they help to bring
about other good things. So what exactly does Kant mean when he says that good will is the only
intrinsic good? Basically it boils down to this, you have to have the right intentions when doing
something and obey the moral law and in those things are where you find what is intrinsically good.
We can be doing the right thing according to what we believe is morally right but at the same time it
doesn t have to be good will. For example, I could think that I m doing the right thing of tearing down
homes to better a community but that s not actually my duty, so therefore it s not a good will. On

The difference in the two are that categorical imperatives must be proven and universal vs.
hypothetical doesn t. Kant believes that all Categorical imperatives are moral duties and they apply to
only rational people. Categorical imperatives are commands of reason that do not depend on a person
s desires and the moral duties must be met even if their not that specific person s desires or wants. The
first categorical imperative says, act only in accordance with that maxim through which you can at the
same time will that it become a universal law. The second states, so act that you use humanity,
whether in your own person or in the person of any other, always at the same time as an end, never

Nighthawks By Edward Hopper Analysis
Nighthawks Displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago is Nighthawks, a 1942 oil painting by Edward
Hopper. The subject of Hopper s painting is an empty restaurant. The painting depicts a late night
scene. Inside the restaurant there are three customers and one worker. Many seats are left open. The
restaurant s light is all that illuminates the area. The outside streets and back buildings are dark. The
image leaves the viewer wondering what was Hopper s message? In this paper, I will show that
Hopper was trying to convey the message of loneliness the average person deals with using the
element and principle of design. Hopper use of space with the element of design creates the illusion of
loneliness. For example, the painting displays an open area. There are empty streets, large windows,
and many empty seats between the one person. There is also the use of light in the restaurant that
illuminates out just to the front of the street gives the look of space. The light in the restaurant makes
it look like the viewer is standing outside the building looking inside. Behind the restaurant there are
darker doorways and windows of other buildings. The depth of the space is unknown due to the
darkness. I feel that the darkness in the space can show the sadness or uncertainty. Another element of
design is color in this painting. The colors are a good mixture of bright and dark hues. A good contrast
to relay a message in his painting. The men are in black. The color can

Pathogenesis of Cervical Cancer
CELL BIOLOGY ESSAY PATHOGENESIS OF CERVICAL CANCER
Introduction
According to the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health (2011), cervical cancer
becomes the tenth commonest cancer in Hong Kong in 2008. Cervical cancer usually arises from
sexual activity and human papillomavirus (HPV) (Bellentir, 2002). In this essay, Human
papillomavirus would be further discussed. For example, the signal transport pathway of HPV 16 and
HPV 18, which many scientists believe that they are closely related of causing cervical cancer, as well
as the HPV vaccine and chemotherapy of cervical cancer, would be discussed.

IL 6 Induce Angiogenesis and Tumor Growth
In the cervical cancer cell, VEGF and interleukin 6(IL 6) are commonly found. IL 6 is used to
stimulate the immune response at first. But some research reveals that IL 6 accelerates the tumor
growth and formation of micro vascular network of red blood cell. IL 6 is a kind of pro inflammatory
cytokine which secreted by T cells and macrophages. IL 6 would activate VEGF dependent
angiogenesis process, thus blood vessel can be easily formed the cancer cell and enter circulatory
system through lymph node or capillary. It promotes the development of cervical tumor through
paracrine system or autocrine system. (Wei, Kuo Chen et al.)
MMP 2 Activity of Degrading Collagen
According to Hardin, Bertoni and Kleinsmith (2011), when the growth factor binds to receptor protein
which located on cell surface, it triggers the complex signal pathway, causes the division of
endothelial cell and secretion of matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs). In the cervical cancer cell, MMP 2
and MMP 9 play the important roles on tumor invasion and metastasis. MMP 2 acts as a proteinase for
degradation of collagen. Collagen is the main component of basal membrane and extracellular matrix,
which supporting cells structure from outside. For inhibiting the MMP 2 activity, tissue inhibitors of

Methods and Background The main objective of this lab is to identify the given unknown organic
compounds with various methods. Identification of an unknown compound is important to perform
through the process of melting point (M.P), boiling point (B.P) and Infrared spectroscopy (I.R). Index
of Hydrogen deficiency (IHD) and elemental analysis makes an experiment more efficient in
determination of unknown compound. The color, odor, melting point and boiling point determines the
physical state and properties of a compound. It also determines its volatility in respect to temperature.

Judaism And Christianity During The Roman Empire Summary
Judaism and Christianity During The Roman Empire
By: Deonna Weil Vance
History 111 World Civilization before 1650
Professor Joseph Esposito
August 20, 2014
In order to decorously portray the evolution of Judaism and Christianity the reader needs to know how
Israel was conquered by the Roman Empire. The reader also needs to know how Christianity
developed from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Even though Christianity developed out of the
Jewish religion both religions have their differences. Both religions also faced bigotry, discrimination,
and hostility due to the Roman Empire. Christian and Judaic history is different in many ways. The
development, persecution, and characteristics of each religion are significant.
When the Jewish people left Egypt and settled in Israel they established the twelve tribes of Israel.
These twelve tribes were originally ruled by a series of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first stage created Jewish Christians whom attended a Jewish synagogue with Jewish leadership.
The difference between the Jews and the Jewish Christians was that the Jewish Christians believed
Jesus was their savior. The second stage brought on changes to their belief system and biblical texts.
After branching out and away from Judaism, Christianity created the New Testament. This is very
different compared to what Judaism follows in the Old Testament. Christians veritably created their
own version of the Old Testament that utilizes their own theologies and ethical ideas. Christians
believe that only some parts of the Old Testament applied to them but some wanted to follow the
original ways from the Old Testament. This created different types of Christianity such as Roman
Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, etcetera. Christians believed Jesus was their savior, which separated
them from Judaism. Judaism does not recognize that their Messiah has come, and would not recognize
Jesus as G ds Son. (Murray

We All Fall Down Ring around the rosy, pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes, we all fall down. This
nursery rhyme and We All Fall Down are alike in a way. They both result in the falling of dead bodies
as they land on the ground, now corpses. The book We All Fall Down was banned due to its violence
and vandalism (Sova 2; We All Fall Down); the occurring sexual content (Marshall University
Libraries 1); and the alcoholic references and profanity (Cormier; occurring theme) that haunt its
pages. The book is worthwhile because it has such a suspenseful plot (Sova 1; We All Fall Down); its

It was used mostly by the teenagers in their conversations with other characters to show just how they
felt about the situation at hand. Profanity was highly associated with the drinking that occurred. Not
only was alcohol used as a type of anti depressant, but it was done by under age drinkers (Cormier;
throughout book). Buddy Walker, one of the main characters, is a sixteen year old and started to drink
heavily after the divorce of his parents. Buddy began to hand out with Harry and his goons and drank
to have fun and forget all his worries. He bought his liquor illegally and continued to drink even when
in his relationship with Jane. Even when he was happiest when with Jane, Buddy abused alcohol
which became his own brand of heroine. Like Buddy, most people do use alcohol as a way to escape
and instead they should be using a proper drug prescribed by doctors. I believe that though alcohol
may seem like medicine, it is far from it. It weakens slowly in the insides and confuses the brain to
think it s better than any pharmacy drugs. It s a hypnotizer and it performs its work best in all ages,
even young teenagers like Buddy. Even though We All Fall Down was banned, it has many points
which make it worthwhile to read. It has such a suspenseful plot that leaves you wanting more (Sova

Stately Home In Elizabethan England
The main reason for building a stately home in Elizabethan times was to demonstrate the successful
career of its owner How far does the study of Hardwick Hall support this statement?
Elizabeth Talbot, Countess of Shrewsbury or simply Bess of Hardwick was one of the most notable
figures in Elizabethan society made rich by four beneficial marriages and her investments in glass and
mining. Her stately home Hardwick Hall is the prime example of the upper tier of Elizabethan society.
How they presented themselves, how they lived and how they advertised their wealth. But to what
extent does the building tell us about the purpose of other stately homes and the impression the owners
are trying to make? To answer this question, we will look at the reasons Hardwick Hall is as it is, what
Bess is trying to convey or prove. Namely, her wealth, intellect and pedigree. Her right to be where
she is, the cutting of ties to her lesser life and the importance of herself in the Shrewsbury dynasty.

Social Philosophical Thoughts and Contributions of Dr. B....
SOCIAL PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS
OF DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR 1. INTRODUCTION
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar s philosophical contribution has in the areas of Humanism, realism and
rationalism. He propounded a philosophy of humanism taking in account both theory and practice. For
him philosophy is not purely theoretic matter but has practical potentialities. It has its roots in the
problems of life and the theories that are propounded return back as a contribution for the
reconstruction of the society. (Jatava, 1997)

(Wilkinson amp; Thomas, 1972) The religion teaches to hope in the divine grace for the betterment
and Ambedkar goes completely against such view. It finds no place in the philosophical, ethical and
religious ideas of Ambedkar. (Jatava, 2008) 7. SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY OF AMBEDKAR
Ambedkar was not only an idealist but also a realist. His move toward drafting of the constitution was
not merely philosophical but a realistic one. It throws light on the existing social condition aiming at
national goals and bringing about reformation in the Indian society. He was committed to the social
restructuring but in a democratic way. He did not go against the government but remained in the
government to serve the interests of the scheduled castes and other exploited classes. He believed that
it was much easier to bring about change from within than from outside. (Jatava, 2008)
Ambedkar is not only a philosopher or a scholar but also a statesman, leader and liberator. Some of his
Social thoughts that contributed to the dignity and social status to the exploited section of the Indian
society could be enlisted below. (Keer, 1971) 8.1. Equality and Freedom
Ambedkar was in search of equality and truth. He did not find it in Hinduism therefore he was on a
lookout for a religion that would make him feel liberated. He was attracted to Buddhism because the
fundamental principal of Buddhism is equality. On becoming a Buddhist he expressed his

Medea And Agamemnon Research Paper
The Greek tragedies Medea by Euripides and Agamemnon share similar character traits displayed
through Medea and Clytemnestra which ultimately lead to their own downfall. Clytemnestra
slaughtered her own husband and his foreign concubine seeing vengeance towards her husband
Agamemnon for sacrificing their daughter. Medea poisoned King Creon, a princess, and murdered her
own children to seek justifiable revenge against Jason; her husband. Both women are seen to resemble
strength and power. The two women portray a behavior unlike any other woman of their time period
which ultimately leads to their downfall. The two plays both exemplify similar characteristics such as
the role of women, passion/power, and vengeance.

being regarded or treated as a woman, yet is able to make advancements using her femininity. She is
known as the woman [that] maneuvers like a man (13). Men were known to fear women who
embodied masculine tendencies. The traits were regarded as unnatural during the ancient times.
Clytemnestra was enraged about the fact she did not have the same regard as men. This put her on the
edge to deny her femininity and overcome the men that surround her in order to gain masculine
powers. Medea, on the other hand accepted that she was indeed a woman, but crossed the line of her
feminine limitations set by ancient Greek times. She did this to prove she possessed more

bought me my first gaming console. It was a PlayStation One by Sony Entertainment. I remember
playing an abundance of different games, I mostly played Tekken games and early games in the Ace

After about a year playing on the PS, Sony released the PS2 (PlayStation Two). I wanted one so bad,

Arnold Friend Allusion
Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been, is a testament of a true artist, because art can be
interpreted into many forms and meanings. These meanings can differ from person to person, such as
each reader of this tale can walk away with a different understanding of what the deeper implication
may be. With the element of religious metaphors and allusions, the author is able to connect her short
story to a much deeper value that pertains to today s society and it s current relations with religion.
Within Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been? it is prevalent that Connie s family is not

Since she does not seem to idolize her parents and respect them in any form, she finds another person

Connie at this time in her life. A biblical allusion could be made between the confrontation of Arnold
Friend and Connie. Arnold Friend and his charismatic attempt to persuade Connie to get out of her
house and come for a ride (Oates) in his car with him could be interpreted as Eve and the serpent that
tempts her to eat the forbidden apple. Just as the serpent exclaimed, For God doth know that in the day
ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil, Arnold
Friend attempted to persuade Connie to do as he desired. (Genesis) By including all of these religious
contexts in a story about a supposedly non religious family, the reader can decipher that Oates story

father pushing the emergency stop button. This time, everyone gets a swat on the behind, including the
bell boy.
The first thing I notice when I walk in the hotel room is the near freezing draft flowing throughout the
room. The bathroom, which resembles the kind seen in hospitals, is usually on the left. It has a white
tiled floor, white towels, white walls, and white shower curtain. A large mirror hangs at eye level and
below it is the bogus marble sink. On the vanity lies a complimentary basket of toiletries, which

Analysis Of Benjamin Franklin s The Greatest Founding...
Top of Form
Benjamin Franklin
There is no doubt that Benjamin Franklin is one of the greatest Founding Fathers, if not one of the
greatest Americans ever to have lived. Franklin racked up numerous accolades throughout his 84 year
life span and is also the only Founding Father to sign the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of
Peace with Great Britain, and the United States Constitution. As a man who came from humble
beginnings, Franklin is the embodiment of a self made man. An incredibly driven human being,
Franklin sought out to improve himself day in and day out. In fact, he believed that success was
derived from self improvement. Franklin was a true believer of the American cause and wanted only
the absolute best for the newly founded society. Being the truly selfless and righteous man he was,
Franklin wrote an autobiography, not as an ostentatious or conceited act, but as a guideline for other
Americans to follow him on the route to self improvement. Franklin recounts his hardships and
triumphs to tell the story of how a man can make anything of himself as long as puts his mind to it and
keeps progressing forward.
Benjamin Franklin was born January 17, 1706 in Boston. Franklin was the youngest son of seventeen
children. Being the baby of the family didn t come with the benefits it does now. In this time period,
the youngest son did not inherited little if anything. Unfortunate for Franklin he never inherited
anything throughout his lifetime. At the age of eight

How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business Services
Introduction
The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business services in such a way
accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content have become completely in danger.
Internet is expanding every moment that creates a significant delay making the delivery of any content
becomes extremely difficult. To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has
been deployed in the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need
for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time such as requested
object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not expired.
There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a client request can be
considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the bottleneck bandwidth between the
origin server and the client is much less than the bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the
client. For instance, if the requested object is available in the cache, and we have a high speed
connection between the client and the cache, then the object will be delivered immediately to the
client. Second, traffic on an institution s access link to the Internet can be considerably reduced by
Web caches. This is significantly important because it will minimize the chance of upgrading
bandwidth and reducing costs. Furthermore, Web caches can considerably decrease Web traffic in the
Internet as a whole

Character Analysis Of Freddie In The Shade
Were you ever nervous and bothered about changing the life you ve lived the most? Freddie in the
Shade, written by Pam Munoz Ryan, is about a young boy named Freddie who struggles with realizing
the beauty of change and moving forward in life. Having a hard time with moving on, Freddie is left
disagreeable but soon begins to let go of the past and becomes acceptable to new things coming his
way. Freddie is an interesting character because he likes to have power over his own life but he tries to
hold himself down to feel empathy for those he truly cares for. There are several events and examples
throughout the story Freddie in the Shade, that express Freddie as a strong, caring, and kindhearted
character.
Freddy can be described as disagreeable at the beginning of the story although at the end of the story
he becomes acceptable and open to new beginnings. For example, in the beginning of the story on
page 12 the author states For weeks, Freddie had been hibernating in his room, trying to avoid dad and
Maggie. They tried to include him in every boring preparation for the baby. With the evidence, the
author provides us we can predict that Freddie doesn t like when he is pushed into doing something he
doesn t want to do leaving Freddie very disagreeable and stubborn. On the very first paragraph of page
11, the narrator states Freddie hoped that the dark shades would protect him from anything else that
might disrupt his life. From the statement, the author provides in

Europeans, for example, have been highly skeptical of any benefits they might gain from GM foods.
Many nations in the European Union (EU) have effectively banned imports of what they refer to as
Frankenfoods, a reference to the famous story of the fictional monster assembled by Dr. Frankenstein
from miscellaneous spare parts. The U.S claims that the EU s anti GM food policy violates free trade
laws.
Many questions remain regarding the future of GM foods. Should they continue to be sold in the U.S.,
even though they may have unforeseen negative consequences? Or should the U.S. take a cue from the
EU and limit the selling of GM foods until they are unequivocally proven to be risk free? Do the
possible future health benefits of GM foods such as fruits and vegetables with extra vitamins and
vaccines built into their DNA cancel out any potential risks that the new technology brings?
Supporters of GM foods say that since there has been no evidence of GM foods harming humans, it is
reasonable to assume that they are safe for consumption. GM food backers denounce criticism of
genetic engineering as fear mongering. Besides, they argue, no new technology is without a certain
degree of risk. GM food supporters believe that the possible health benefits of GM foods overwhelm
any possible dangers.
Supporters of biotech crops also maintain that if GM food technology is allowed to develop, it may
prove to be instrumental in eliminating world hunger.

http://www.stma.k12.mn.us/documents/DW/Q_Comp/FormativeAssessStrategies.pdf As teachers, it is
important to front load the information. When you do this, students are better prepared to engage in
the conversations of the classroom, and be able to answer questions regarding the topic. The ultimate
result is that your needier students to feel successful. Being flexible with your lesson plans is
important, especially after gathering information from your classroom and having a firm
understanding of what your students know. Having this information provides you with a clue as to
what you need to spend time on, things that you can quickly touch on, how to group your students,
what organizers you may need or word banks that you can use. If you find that some students are
knowledgeable on the topic, they can be used as the teacher experts in the classrooms. The final part
of this Action Step is to do a post assessment. At this time you can ask the same questions as before or
have them write 3 things they learned on a sticky note as an exit slip. Teachers can use these
assessments to help students who continue to struggle, pinpoint students who learn in a different way,
or even find students who have already mastered the objective and may be ready to be

The Fallacialist Lothrop Stoddard
Refutation of this stupid, lowbrow notion would be better done in an article in a publication but I am
seeing it promoted more and more and as I am very interested in combating error, particularly among
nationalists, I ll take a crack at briefly addressing it.
The nuts and bolts of this is that we have this half caste Austrian nobleman (his mother was Japanese)
who made some remarks almost a century ago about how the man of the future would be mixed race.
He is also in some sense considered the father of the EU due to his pan European political
organization. From this it is asserted that he planned the genocide of the white race and that European
elites are implementing this plan now almost a century later.
One version of the plan fingers the usual Jewish bogeyman even though Coudenhove Kalergi wasn t
Jewish. More generally we are expected to believe people like Angela Merkel are consciously
following this plan . The problem is there s no evidence they are. ... Show more content on

Book Report On Omnivore s Dilemma
Omnivore s Dilemma Book Report
I chose Omnivore s Dilemma for various reasons, one being to learn more about current food issues
within our economy, ecosystem, and environment; and two, to learn more so I am not a hypocrite to
my beliefs. My entire life I have grown up learning and practicing sustainable mannerisms. Learning
to turn off the water while I brushed my teeth, using reusable tupperware and grocery bags, and not
idling are a few of the many practices I was taught. I spent my middle and high school years
surrounded by many individuals whose views about the environment were much different than my
personal beliefs. Listening, observing, and learning from those around me drove me to apply for
school and pursue a degree in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my first year of college I have been introduced to copious amounts of new information and topics
that had never crossed my mind. Becoming familiar with new ideas, food production and it s impacts
of the environment both locally and globally became of interest to me. I have been a vegetarian for
about four years and as I have attended college I have learned more about the state of the issue with
food production and sustainability. When presented with the list of books for our independent project
Omnivore s Dilemma immediately jumped at me. When Pollan stated in the introduction, Farming and
food industry produces even more greenhouse gases than all forms of transportation put together; the
way you eat affects the world more than anything else you do, I was hooked.
Michael Pollan the author of Omnivore s Dilemma discusses and asks, what should we have for
dinner? He attempts to answer one of the pressing questions of sustainability in today s society, to
save money or to save the planet, and how? Pollan talks about how humans are omnivores and we
have the choice to eat whatever we want, no matter the health and sustainability implications of our
decisions. Pollan discusses three main food chains, industrial (corn), organic, and hunter/gatherer. He
analyzes each food chain, learning eating industrial is basically eating corn, and goes into the complex

Nora A Hero
A hero is defined as a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or
noble qualities. A Doll s House , authored by Henrik Ibsen, contains a protagonist that fits this
definition. The protagonist, Nora Helmer, represents courage as the character rightfully decides to
relieve herself from the traditional social commitments and obligations, thus becoming an independent
individual. In addition, Nora displays selflessness through removing herself from the family as it is
realized the young woman is an inadequate mother. Moreover, Ibsen sets Nora in a world of
predetermined social constraints that lead the young woman to become deprived of freedom and
genuine happiness. Subjugation and oppression act as significant ... Show more content on

As Nora comes to realize that her marriage to Torvald has been loveless and the young woman has
only been fulfilling the traditional role of a dull housewife, Nora becomes overwhelmed as the woman
accepts the lack of knowledge in being a genuine wife and mother, The way I am now, I m no wife for
you (1774). Moreover, Nora decides to leave her children with Torvald as the woman laments not
knowing how to take care of the three children, I won t look in on the children. I know they re in
better hands than mine (1774). While the act of abandoning one s own family may come across as
selfish, this is quite the opposite in Nora Helmer s instance. Norma accepts she is an inadequate
mother and would be unable to care for the children without any aid from others, The way I am now, I
m no use to them (1774). This inadequacy is further brought to light by Torvald as he exclaims that
Nora is not to be trusted with the job of bringing up the couple s children. Additionally, Nora proves
the selflessness of her character as the woman explains she must seek an education before trying to
educate her own children, I m not up to the job. There s another job I have to do first. I have to try to
educate myself (1772). In order to become the adequate mother that her children need to be
appropriately raised, Nora must seek enlightenment without the influence of Torvald, You can t

Essay On The Executive Branch
The many members of the executive branch in our American government system have different roads
to their respective seats, varying motivations while they are in said seats, and contrasting aspirations
for their political careers once they plan to move on from the Senate or the House of Representatives
if they even decide to leave that part of the government. Their practices are not entirely based on
objective governmental values; instead, the members of Congress wheel and deal, trading favors with
each others in the government. We see these measures in films such as Charlie Wilson s War.
Members of Congress get things done by bartering with other Congress members. The legislative
branch of the United States government is basically a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With that comes their fears, personally and for the greater good of the population. They want to
improve the image of this country, and when the reputation and well being of the United States is not
in a beneficial state, they look to change what they can. Charlie Wilson, in the movie, wanted to
ensure that he was able to continue the fight against worldwide communism by opposing the Soviet
Union indirectly via Afghanistan. He was also, personally, deeply moved by the plight of the Afghan
people in the face of the U.S.S.R., which motivated him to move in fear of their rivals in the east. With
that fear of things that can go wrong, naturally, comes the fear of what the personal repercussions of
that can be. These members of Congress obviously have reached new heights in their political careers
and at least want to stay in that position. With mishaps during their tenure, they can be voted out of
office and their political career can begin to take a tumble. It is not impossible for former members of
Congress to climb back into a seat in the House or the Senate, but being given the boot in any type of
field, never mind a high pressure one like politics, is a big fear for anyone. Thus, politicians in
Congress look to make decisions that please not only their colleagues but those who go to the polls in
order to protect

Oscar Wilde Satire
Oscar Wilde s play An Ideal Husband (1893) is of a genre that is unlikely to ever fade out; the
dramatic comedy. Wilde utilises melodramatic language to explore several heavy subjects such as
compassion and empathy but there is no doubting that the play is of the romantic comedy genre. And
this is concreted by the fact that this is a play that not only comments on society but makes comedy of
people s faults and bad habits via the employment of the comedic conventions satire. Oscar Wilde
effectively blends these comedic devices into the play s melodramatic drawing room comedy , which
traditionally features upper class people in social and family situations of which Wilde was considered
a master, to provoke thought on different societal subjects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mabel epitomises the supposed silliness and frivolity that a young Victorian girl would have and this
is further encouraged by Wilde s use of epigram and absurdity in the line Oh, I love London Society! I
think it has immensely improved. It is entirely composed now of beautiful idiots and brilliant lunatics.
Just what Society should be. showing the shallow and flamboyant nature of Mabel s character to
reflect to typical young woman in Victorian society. Farce can be further seen by the interaction
between Lady Basildon and Mrs Marchmont who are described as types of exquisite beauty . The

situation within the gender norms. Their willingness to suffer conversation with boring men makes
them more attractive and also shows how women were forced to settle for men they may not
particularly like. This comment is then further driven by Wilde via Lord Goring s epigram if we men
married the women we deserved, we should have a very bad time of it highlighting the inequality

Pros And Cons Of Birth Control
traception
Contraception is used to prevent pregnancy. The use of condoms can prevent pregnancy and protect
against STDs. Other protective barriers, such as dental dams, are recommended for oral sex and
analingus. Some sexually transmitted infections, such as genital warts and genital herpes can be
spread through skin to skin contact, not just penetrative sex. For those in committed relationships who
seek only to prevent pregnancy, there are many forms of birth control, and a healthcare provider can
discuss options and detail what is the ideal form of birth control. There is no single universal method
that works for everyone.
According to Michael McGee, MEd, a certified sexual health educator and adjunct professor at
Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey, sexual health is intimately related to
reproduction. Birth control choices to prevent pregnancy and the steps couples need to take to have a
healthy pregnancy are all aspects of sexual health.
Some factors a qualified physician will take into consideration when discussing options are:
Patient s sexual activity
Previously used birth control methods
Existing medical conditions
Lifestyle and likelihood of taking a daily pill on schedule
Use of tobacco products
Existence of menstrual migraines
Menstrual flow
Personal and family history of blood clots
Existence or history of breast cancer
Family history of ovarian cancer
History of premenstrual syndrome

Comparing Dermot Bolger s The Holy Ground and In High Germany
Some call it Ireland. Others instead choose to call it the Holy Ground. In the end, it doesn t matter

Ireland is enough to evoke many emotions: pride, happiness, nationalism, anger, just to name a few.
They feel strongly about the country. It is not just the place where they were born. Love it or hate it, it

  • 2. I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died Mikalyn Hutchins Bozeman AP Prep English 9 30 October 2015 I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died by Emily Dickinson Emily Dickinson was likely influenced by epitaphs on tombstones. She uses floral language like Frances Osgood, and did not write the way the general public thought women should write, like the way of Helen Hunt Jackson. It is possible that is the reason she did not publish her works (Petrino). In the poem I heard a fly buzz when I died , Emily Dickinson uses metaphors in order to say that everyone dies and it is not always the most desirable way to die. Emily Dickinson was part of the American Transcendentalist movement. The word transcendental means character, thought, or action, so it is no surprise the movement was called Transcendentalism. The transcendentalists often worked together, unlike poets from other movements (webexhibits.org). The transcendentalists, particularly the women, often wrote about death and many people wonder why (Noble). The poem I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died is about a person lying on their death bed after having a will written. The persona, the person telling the story as a narrator, has been distracted by a fly. Emily Dickinson used metaphors, foreshadowing, and personification in I Heard a fly Buzz When I Died. A metaphor is a comparison of two unlike things. An extended metaphor is a metaphor that extends through stanzas or even through the entire poem. The poem is an extended metaphor, comparing the random, ugly fly and an ... • 3. Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and the Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his adventures and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps keep track of the confusion, which unfolds during the play. There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual comedy. The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form a critical undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. Shakespeare requires that all the action end at five o clock, the time of Egeon s execution, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon at the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has overcome his selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers. The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters trying to find their true identities. Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus first uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is trying to find another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search for his lost brother and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her husband, and compares their division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of two people, and implies an intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not necessarily essentially entertaining. A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom. Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their wives. This finishes in the end scenes where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Kant s Claim That Good Will Is The Only Intrinsic Good Katie Russell Jennifer Thorington PHIL1320.040 11/19/15 Kant ethics As it is a stated fact, Kant s claim is that good will is the only intrinsic good. Now, what exactly does Kant mean by this claim that he makes? I think that it is important to mention what good will is. So, good will has two parts, one is the ability to determine what your duty is and two is have a steady commitment to do your duty for its own sake. Intrinsic goods are those things that whose value consists in the fact that they help to bring about other good things. So what exactly does Kant mean when he says that good will is the only intrinsic good? Basically it boils down to this, you have to have the right intentions when doing something and obey the moral law and in those things are where you find what is intrinsically good. We can be doing the right thing according to what we believe is morally right but at the same time it doesn t have to be good will. For example, I could think that I m doing the right thing of tearing down homes to better a community but that s not actually my duty, so therefore it s not a good will. On another hand ... Kant believes that all Categorical imperatives are moral duties and they apply to only rational people. Categorical imperatives are commands of reason that do not depend on a person s desires and the moral duties must be met even if their not that specific person s desires or wants. The first categorical imperative says, act only in accordance with that maxim through which you can at the same time will that it become a universal law. • 6. Nighthawks By Edward Hopper Analysis Nighthawks Displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago is Nighthawks, a 1942 oil painting by Edward Hopper. The subject of Hopper s painting is an empty restaurant. The painting depicts a late night scene. Inside the restaurant there are three customers and one worker. Many seats are left open. The restaurant s light is all that illuminates the area. The outside streets and back buildings are dark. The image leaves the viewer wondering what was Hopper s message? In this paper, I will show that Hopper was trying to convey the message of loneliness the average person deals with using the element and principle of design. Hopper use of space with the element of design creates the illusion of loneliness. For example, the painting displays an open area. There are empty streets, large windows, and many empty seats between the one person. There is also the use of light in the restaurant that illuminates out just to the front of the street gives the look of space. The light in the restaurant makes it look like the viewer is standing outside the building looking inside. Behind the restaurant there are darker doorways and windows of other buildings. The depth of the space is unknown due to the darkness. I feel that the darkness in the space can show the sadness or uncertainty. Another element of design is color in this painting. The colors are a good mixture of bright and dark hues. A good contrast to relay a message in his painting. The men are in black. The color can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But some research reveals that IL 6 accelerates the tumor growth and formation of micro vascular network of red blood cell. IL 6 is a kind of pro inflammatory cytokine which secreted by T cells and macrophages. Judaism And Christianity During The Roman Empire Summary Judaism and Christianity During The Roman Empire By: Deonna Weil Vance History 111 World Civilization before 1650 Professor Joseph Esposito August 20, 2014 In order to decorously portray the evolution of Judaism and Christianity the reader needs to know how Israel was conquered by the Roman Empire. The reader also needs to know how Christianity developed from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Even though Christianity developed out of the Jewish religion both religions have their differences. Both religions also faced bigotry, discrimination, and hostility due to the Roman Empire. Christian and Judaic history is different in many ways. The development, persecution, and characteristics of each religion are significant. When the Jewish people left Egypt and settled in Israel they established the twelve tribes of Israel. This is very different compared to what Judaism follows in the Old Testament. Christians veritably created their own version of the Old Testament that utilizes their own theologies and ethical ideas. Christians believe that only some parts of the Old Testament applied to them but some wanted to follow the original ways from the Old Testament. This created different types of Christianity such as Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, etcetera. Christians believed Jesus was their savior, which separated them from Judaism. Judaism does not recognize that their Messiah has come, and would not recognize Jesus as G ds Son. (Murray ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Buddy Walker, one of the main characters, is a sixteen year old and started to drink heavily after the divorce of his parents. Even when he was happiest when with Jane, Buddy abused alcohol which became his own brand of heroine. Stately Home In Elizabethan England The main reason for building a stately home in Elizabethan times was to demonstrate the successful career of its owner How far does the study of Hardwick Hall support this statement? Elizabeth Talbot, Countess of Shrewsbury or simply Bess of Hardwick was one of the most notable figures in Elizabethan society made rich by four beneficial marriages and her investments in glass and mining. Her stately home Hardwick Hall is the prime example of the upper tier of Elizabethan society. How they presented themselves, how they lived and how they advertised their wealth. But to what extent does the building tell us about the purpose of other stately homes and the impression the owners are trying to make? To answer this question, we will look at the reasons Hardwick Hall is as it is, what Bess is trying to convey or prove. Namely, her wealth, intellect and pedigree. Franklin racked up numerous accolades throughout his 84 year life span and is also the only Founding Father to sign the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain, and the United States Constitution. As a man who came from humble beginnings, Franklin is the embodiment of a self made man. An incredibly driven human being, Franklin sought out to improve himself day in and day out. In fact, he believed that success was derived from self improvement. Franklin was a true believer of the American cause and wanted only the absolute best for the newly founded society. Being the truly selfless and righteous man he was, Franklin wrote an autobiography, not as an ostentatious or conceited act, but as a guideline for other Americans to follow him on the route to self improvement. Franklin recounts his hardships and triumphs to tell the story of how a man can make anything of himself as long as puts his mind to it and keeps progressing forward. • 20. How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business Services Introduction The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business services in such a way accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content have become completely in danger. Internet is expanding every moment that creates a significant delay making the delivery of any content becomes extremely difficult. To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has been deployed in the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time such as requested object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not expired. There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a client request can be considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the bottleneck bandwidth between the origin server and the client is much less than the bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the client. For instance, if the requested object is available in the cache, and we have a high speed connection between the client and the cache, then the object will be delivered immediately to the client. Second, traffic on an institution s access link to the Internet can be considerably reduced by Web caches. This is significantly important because it will minimize the chance of upgrading bandwidth and reducing costs. Furthermore, Web caches can considerably decrease Web traffic in the Internet as a whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
