The Culture And Culture Of Puerto Rican Culture
Puerto Rican culture is very unique and diverse and is mainly influenced by its past. It is a melting
pot of Taino Indian, Spanish, African, and American cultures, which is what makes Puerto Rico
unique. Puerto Rican music, clothing, food, traditions, holidays, languages, and religions are all
influenced from the diversity of the population. The official languages are Spanish and English
because of the long period of time when Spain ruled and then later, when it became U.S. territory.
The majority of the population of Puerto Ricois also Roman Catholic or Protestant again, because
it was ruled by the Spanish Crown for over an extended period of time. Puerto Rican food has
many different ingredients derived from the different ethnic groups. They use many fresh
ingredients for bold flavors, but their food generally isn t spicy compared to other cultures.
Puerto Ricans typically eat a light breakfast, but their lunch and dinner is heavy. For them,
dinner is the most important meal of the day. Puerto Ricans typically drink coffee and eat
mallorca which is a type of sweet bread. They normally start off dinner with an appetizer like
soup or stew first. Some of the main Puerto Rican dishes include: carne frita con cebolla which
is, fried beefsteak with onions, roast leg of pork, ham, lamb, or any roasted meats cooked in
Creole style with blends of herbs and spices. Puerto Ricans also love chicken and many of their
popular dishes include chicken like, arroz con pollo, chicken and

The Importance Of Long Distance Communication
Something else that was important with communication that was mentioned in most of the studies,
was openness, openness was positively correlated with relational satisfaction says Maguire and
Kinney (2010:41). To ensure a strong foundation, strong communication is important and can lead
to a healthy and successful relationship. Communicating not only issues but good things about the
relationship itself. For example relational savoring may be an effective tool for preventing declines
in relationship satisfaction , says Borelli (2015:1103 ) In this study, coupleswho were able to savor
their relationship had a higher satisfaction rating than those who did not. Talking about all things
can only lead to strengthening a long distance relationship and that is why is is an important part of
a successful long distance relationship.
Next in a study by Borelli (2015), some conclusions were found in the study that contributed to
successful long distance relationships. First, physical separations can lead to low security in a long
distance relationship, so being sure that each partner feels loved and secure in the relationship. This
feeling of security can protect the quality of their relationship from the stresses inherent to LDRs
(long distance relationships) , says Borelli (2015: 1085) . Next, couples who had higher satisfaction
in the partnership were more comfortable to share and focus on feelings with each other. Lastly,
ensuring the relationship satisfaction is secure and

Richland Collegiate High School Student Analysis
As a Richland Collegiate High School student, I am always attacked by stressors in my
academic life. The stress provoked by school related objects often bled into my home and social
life. It created an unhealthy environment where I felt weighed down by the stress. Due to the
stress, I often lost my appetite and started sleeping less. My mother worried that I was depressed
or that I was developing an eating disorder, but I just did not know how to pick myself up and just
get things done. I lacked motivation, self control, and a healthy balance of work and relaxation.
Throughout the course, I have been picking up on some of the strategies I can use to help alleviate
my stress and subsequently improve other aspects of my life. At my old high school, I was very
competitive. I was ranked valedictorian of my class. I worked very hard, taking all the AP
classes and being involved in as many extracurricular as possible in order to stand out. I did not
let anything distract me. I was very focused and I always got my work done. Back then, I could ve
been considered a Type A personality. Chapter three in the textbook describes Type A as very
intense, ambitious, with a driven personality and competitive. However, when I enrolled in RCHS
something changed the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to getting my work done in time, I also saved myself time and could finally use it to
things I enjoyed. I began socializing more with my friends which definitely improved my mood.
I also began being more active. This allowed to sleep better and regulate my appetite. Since I
improved some aspects of my life, I began to feel more in control. I gained an internal locus of
control by reaching my potential. An internal locus of control is defined as a principle that people
believe they have control over their own destiny. I was able to become more confident in myself
and I no longer felt helpless but empowered to accomplish whatever I

Evaluation Of The Montford Unit Offers Services
Following this even further, the Montford unit offers services to admitted patients regardless if
they are offenders or general medical issues for individuals. The services that are provided is
550 psychiatric beds, a 48 bed general medical and surgical unit, gardens for the Lubbock food
bank, housing stables, and roads located on 120 acres of land (Hills, Siegfried, and Ickowitz,
2004, p. 86). All of these services help offenders because everything is done in house regardless
of the issue. They have food, roof of over their head; they can provide assistance to others by
helping box up food items for the homeless or low income families. They could also do
nontraditional activities such as art therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy, and recreational
therapy (Hills, Siegfried, and Ickowitz, 2004, p. 86). The activities will keep their mind active and
thinking constantly. It could even lead to a hobby that can turn into a business. The most important
elements to consider for an individual with a mental illness after being released from a mental health
care facility is how they reintegrate with their family and receive social support. For example, if the
individual is going to live with their family the best thing to do is to assess the families home and
living situation, so that the environment is not threatening to them. It will undermine the treatment
process and ruin any positive outcomes the individual has done up to this point. In order to

10 Days That Changed America
10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America (book) Throughout the narration of America, they
have been numerous factors that shaped the history of the country. Although, the history of
America lies well beyond 10 important days or events, historians worldwide unanimously came
to the final conclusion that these 10 days/events changed America: the massacre at Mystic on
May 26, 1637, Daniel Shays rebellion on January 25, 1787, the start of the Gold Rush on
January 24,1848, the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862, the Homestead Strike on July

Nursing Vital Signs
Vitals signs include a person s temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, pain, and the pulse
oximetry as well (Taylor, Lillis, Lynn, 2015, p. 579). They are important to be assessed routinely
on every patient because the health status of a person is reflected in these vital signs since they
are the indicators of body functions, and a change in vital signs allows the nurse or any other
healthcare professional to know if there is anything wrong with the patient by being able to do a
diagnosis, perform lab tests, and plan for interventions for those specific indications. Nurses assess
vital signs for each patient and use them to compare their findings to accepted normal values and
the patient s usual pattern of values. It is important

Examples Of Magical Realism In House Taken Over
Magical realism is the seamless encounter of fantastical or magical occurrences in a work within
the real. House Taken Over, is a short story by Julio Cortazar. It is about a brother and a sister
who live in a large home that has been passed down through generations of their family. Many
peculiar things happen throughout the story that could never happen in real life. Magical realism
is shown through the actions of the brother and sister, through the house, and they . Being alone in
a large house, with almost no connections to the outside world, was Irene and the narrator s daily
life. They don t have much to look forward to in everyday life. They are stuck inside this ancient

Social Themes In To Kill A Mockingbird
In the 1960 s, an extremely large amount of men were falsely, or wrongly convicted of crimes,
one of these crimes being rape. To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, portrays the topic of rape
in a saddening and sickening manner. This novel is told from a old Scout, who is a part of the
Finch family, which goes through life s obstacles while helping anyone and everyone they can to
their best ability. While doing so, the father of the family is brought into a switched around rape
case with a not so happy ending. There are three main themes that make up the book, which are race
, social class, and innocence.
The first theme this story seems to show is social class. Back then, and even a little now, this
determined where you belonged, or who you belonged with. This theme is shown many times in
this book, not only to prove its meaning, but because it was so common before the 21st century.
It s shown greatly when Calpurnia states, There s some folks who don t eat like us, but you ain t
called on to contradict em at the table when they don t (Lee 24). This quote is said to a young
Scout, who doesn t quite know that she is judging someone when it s happening. She was
confused and shocked from what Walter was doing as he poured syrup all over his food. She
didn t understand that he was only trying to get as much as he can, and add some sort of flavor
to his food because he doesn t get much food as it is. In his family situation, they are very poor, and

Benefits Of SEO Results
As hard as it is to get good SEO results, it s even harder to get a great company. And we are not
talking about companies that promise no.1 ranking because those are many and it s safe to say
that chances are high that they are fraudsters. Even Google which is the most used search engine
will tell you that there are no.1 ranking guarantees. Aside from that, you can find a company
offering SEO services worth investing in and these four tips will help you. 1. Look For an SEO
Company with Proven Results If you want good results, you need an SEO company that has
proven results. Fortunately, there are several companies and these provide good search engine
positioning services. Obviously, a good SEO company should have great search engine... Show

That said, they also shouldn t cost you an arm and a leg and usually companies will give you
quotes based on the services you need. Since services differ from client to client, it s best to go
for SEO companies that will customize your service and price as well as opposed to those that
give blanket services for all. Remember that cheap is expensive and you get what you pay for. 4.
Use Reviews and Referrals Any company that is offering SEO services will have online reviews
and this is regardless of whether or not the reviews are in their site. Reviews are great because
they give you the real deal on what to expect with the company. They are basically referrals and
you can bet that anyone who received services will vent online while those who got great results
will also praise the services online. Referrals are by far the easiest ways to get a good SEO
company. Using the above tips, finding a good company for your needs shouldn t be too
difficult. That said, it is important to note that there is no perfection when it comes to
optimization and if you are looking for number one results all the time, you are positioning
yourself for a great deal of frustration. One of the best things you can do for you if your SEO
efforts don t bear much fruit is getting SEO services. These services help you concentrate on

Rhetorical Analysis of the Ugly Truth About Beauty
Ms. Sladky
10th Grade Liteature and Composition
4 September 2012
Rehtorical Analsysis of The Ugly Truth About Beauty There is a clichГ© quote that people say,
Beauty is in the eye of beholder. But in the essay The Ugly Truth About Beauty (1998) Dave Barry
argues about how women who spend countless hours on their so called beauty whereas men seem
not to care. Barry uses juxtaposition and exaggeration to poke fun at men and women behavior and
shed light on the harm that the beauty industry is doing. When Barry argues his point of his essay
he addresses both genders, but more specifically teenage to middle age men and women, but he
writes about it in a humorous and light hearted manner. In the essay, Barry juxtaposes men... Show

As for the oppsoite sex, women, would spend on average five thousand hours on their
fingernails, which in most cases go unnoticed. The only reason that women care this much about
their appearance is because of the standards that the beauty industry has set, which is very
difficult to actually achieve and causes problems for the health of women. Such as annerexia,
depression and other serious health concerns. Not only does Barry uses juxtapositon he also use
exaggeration to argue his views. Barry uses exaggeration to add a sesnse of humor to the essay.
He exaggerates the Barbie doll proportions giving her a height of seven feet and eighty one
pounds with fifty three of those pounds being bosoms. He also exaggerates mens complacency
with their apperance even if their faces cause heart failure in cattle at a range of 300 yards, and
when their faces sag and their noses bloat to the size of eggplants and their eyebrows grow
together to form what appears to be a giant forehead dwelling tropical caterpillar. With these
exaggerations he shows how women are willing to try and be like something that is very hard to
achieve, even though they have already achieved their goals in the eyes of men and others. He
shows how men are careless about their appearance, even though they may look horrendous; they
care more about manly activities. As you can see Barry really used juxtaposition and

Benefits Of Obamacare
ObamaCare started in March of 2010, which helped millions of low income families. Barack
Obama came up with a health care program so that all Americans can gain access to health
insurance. The Affordable Care Act increased the possibilities of gaining public health insurance
through consumer protections, taxes, insurance exchanges, and others. Aside from helping out
people who were in need, the ObamaCare also has an impact on the economy in a good way. The
program that Obama created supported millions of people who were in need of healthcare
insurance which meant that you get a host of new benefits and protections. For example, insurance
companies are now required to cover women s wellness visits, birth control for women, and
immunizations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most Americans will benefit from the new rights and protections like guaranteed coverage of pre
existing conditions and the elimination of gender discrimination. Your health insurance costs may
go up in the short run, but the quality of your insurance just got a lot better ( Rehm). The reason
why insurance is getting better is because majority of Americans bought insurance and in a way it s
helping out medicaid.
Obama promised to lower the premium price for each family up to $2,500. That is huge because
they can spend that money on something else. Obama also said that whatever ideas exist in
terms of bending the cost curve and starting to reduce costs for families, businesses, and
government, those elements are in this bill (heritage). He is simply saying that his Obamacare
system will reduce the price for almost everything. Obamacare was first introduced to public in
2009. This information got announced and went viral. People wanted to know what this plan
that he was talking about but after a few days later the plan was out there and people were
delighted by Obamacare. That took private health insurances into Obama health care system.
Obama said that his plans doesn t apply to illegal immigrants. Obamacare has a law where you
can not discriminate people just because they had a really bad disease. So basically the system free

Strauss-Howe s Generations
Generations
Strauss Howe s generational theory explains in detail how the year in which you are born affects
your development, attitudes and socialisation in society. William Strauss and Neil Howe designed
the theory to be a recurring cycle in America. The generation you are born into can reflect your
traits and be a reflection on what type of person you will grow up to be. Strauss Howe examined
the patterns in historical generations and used generational events to create a theory revolving
around it. These generational events are known as turnings.
Although the Strauss Howe generation theory is easy to understand, there can be exceptions. For
example, a baby boomer can adjust their lifestyle and attitudes to be more like the younger
generations. Family, culture, gender, sexuality, beliefs, location, social class, peers, school and
media are all factors that can influence how a person may fit into a certain generation. Due to these
factors, many questions can be asked about this theory differing between people born in different
countries, people of different cultural, and of different social classes and status.
Baby Boomers

Comparing Krapp s Last Tape And Embers By Samuel Beckett
Suffering: an endless cycle Through the pieces of Krapp s Last Tape and Embers, playwright
Samuel Beckett explores the infallibility of memory and language. Beckett spent time in WWII as
a member of the French Resistance. His duty as part of the resistance was to type and translate
information about the Germans. World War II s influence on Beckett s writing comes through the
character s inability to articulate the conscious self in the language one wishes to express
themselves in. To escape the constrictions of language, Beckett became a playwright. Beckett asks
the reader to grapple with their own existence and their reliance on memory through Krapp, who is
unable to remember his past, and Henry who is unable to forget. With this reliance... Show more

If a person refuses to see another person, does that person cease to exist? The obvious answer is
of course not. Closing your eyes to someone doesn t make them disappear to the world. They
disappear in your world. So it is essentially becoming nonexistent. This reminds me of a How I
Met Your Mother episode, the one where Lily tells people, You re dead to me and they make the
person she s looking at blow up and vanish. Or the saying if a tree falls in the woods and no one
is around to hear it does it still make a sound. Rational thought knows that just because a person
states You re dead to me that they re still alive and very much there, but they also know the
feeling of being invisible and nonexistent to someone. Henry was locked out emotionally from his
father, and felt the pain of being invisible. His father retracted Henry s existence and Embers seems
to be about his trying to reclaim his life without success. He perpetuated his father s attitude
towards him. No matter what he tried to do, he only continued the cycle of

Reflection On Quality Of Service
This summer I worked at Broad Street Ministries. It s a church that s a major staple in their
community and the homeless. They provide drop in shelter services such as mailing, meals at
different times through the week, social services, after school programing, summer camp,
enrichment classes and much more. Their goal is to build a community that fosters a safe,
inclusive, and welcoming environment that provide upscale meals to those less fortunate. My
overall opinion of the operation is that it has great values, provide quality services, and strives for
excellence in all aid provided.
While interning for the past 3 months I had the opportunity to participate in preparing fresh,
quality nutritious meals for their guest. I served in any capacity needed. I washed dishes, swept
and mopped the floor, prepped food and helped cook at time. My main responsibilities were that of
the head pastry chef. I planned and prepared dessert options for 300 guests based on the
ingredients provided. Meals are planned based on the ingredients picked from the church s garden
and donated from local farms and food establishments. I believe this to be one of this organization
s strengths because a lot of focus is put into providing an upscale meal and dining experience to
those less fortunate.
Equally important, throughout my time there, management was inconsistent in their expectations
and direction. The morale of the kitchen staff was low and seemed to really affect the quality of
service. For

Social Role And Social Roles
Everybody in the world belongs to a subcultural group (people that come together that seek out
others sharing similar ideas or views) or plays a social role in it. Playing in a social role, as
individuals, we act in certain situations differently, such as in a work place, home, or around
your peer groups. I believe it s a real occurrence that a lot of people deal with daily. The ideology
of a subculture group or the social roles you play forms by separating or belonging in it and
forming personal norms, sanctions, material objects, symbols, language patterns, and social
institutions. Such as me being an employee (sales associate) at Payless and being a younger sister
to an older brother which have similar ways but they also have a few differences.
To begin with, when it comes to working for an economic institution I play a certain social role
when being a sales associate. I wouldn t act the same way at my job like I do with my family
members or my friends such as clowning around, teasing, cursing, or pulling pranks on each
other. In my job description there are norms and sanctions that I need to follow, breathe, and live
by them. I m responsible for following the Company s safety and environmental laws,
regulations, and procedures at work. For instance, always come in on time (unless you call in),
follow the safety policies for ourselves and customers such as prevention of accidents removing
things that can cause a fall or slip such as a 3 or 8 step ladder s or carts (children might mistake it
as a toy), making sure boxes on top of the rack shelves are less than 8 inches high (not in the way
for sprinkles or falling over), making sure each aisle is clean (nobody s going to come into a
dirty store), putting shoes in their right particular areas and sizes from kids on the left hand side,
women s in the middle, and the men s on the right hand side and straight across the back of the
store. In addition, to safety reasons in work wear we can wear almost about anything but must be
comfortable like business wear or casual (no jeans, open back sandals/heels, and must be knee
length) and have a Payless store tag always, also when it comes to lifting boxes we must always
wear a black back support belt while lifting.

Problem Statement:
Toyota grew at a record speed and could not keep up with the speed in which it was growing.
They are a centralized company and Japan only made the decisions. This prevented the company
to keep up with the safety problems. The process that Toyota external suppliers follow when
improving product and making sure the product is functioning properly before shipping to Toyota
needs to be improved before they release the product from their warehouse to be sent to Toyota.
This problem began when the company started to rapidly grow. Toyota s lack of communication
led to the faulty gas pedal recall.
According to Deming (1987), Performance of management should be measured by potential to stay
in business, to protect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important that Toyota improve their communication and process of evaluating their parts
because if they don t they risk losing customers and market shares. An improved process would
also give them reassures that this issue does not arise again. According to Porter (1996)
Delivering greater value allows a company to charge a higher average unit price; greater
efficiency result in lower average unit cost (p.62). Toyota needs to focus more on quality than
quantity. After quality is critiqued then they can continue to grow at a lower rate. If Toyota gives
their North American companies power to make decisions than it would be a huge improvement to
the companies and less risk of safety issues.
Toyota showing their customers, potential customers and shareholders that they have improved the
way they communicate their process and procedures will lead to gaining their confidence back in
the way Toyota does business. This will also allow Toyota to gain their good reputation back and
lead to gaining profits. Communication is the most important asset in how a company does
business and is the strength of a company. Toyota closing gaps and strengthening the way they
communicate will lead to a stronger Toyota.
Desired outcome
Toyota going from centralized to decentralize will give them more opportunity to quickly respond
to issues. Incorporating external information will give Toyota a more competitive

Antoine Lavoisier Research Paper
Why Lavoisier is famous:
Antoine Lavoisier revolutionized chemistry. He named the elements carbon, hydrogen and oxygen;
discovered oxygen s role in combustion and respiration; established that water is a compound of
hydrogen and oxygen; discovered that sulfur is an element, and helped continue the transformation
of chemistry from a qualitative science into a quantitative one. He created a new form of
nomenclature which is the skeleton of today s Periodic Table, and he famously proved the theory of
phlogiston incorrect and replaced it with the law of conservation of mass and his theory of
oxygenation (Holmes, introduction).

The Importance Of Gothic Litrature In Literature
Humans actually seek to be scared. Since 2005, the amount of money spent on Halloween has
doubled to 7.5 billion dollars. What is the reason for this sudden increase in spending?
According to the Allegre Ringos interview Dr. Ker Scare Specialist discussed that dopamine is
released into the brain and produces a natural high. Which is what some people like thrill
seekers love that feeling when they go on a rollarcoaster or skydive. Of course it all just depends
on the person since some people HATE the feeling of being scared or just arent interested in it.
People are sometimes fascinated with things that scare us like monsters or even death, since we
don t know what happens after we die. Rather some get scared from reading scary stories, as a
way to get scared without having to go out without to be frightened since the stories give us the
chills. When reading scary stories its as if you are going into a whirl of mysterious, disturbing, and
frighting feelings. Poems like ( The Ravenby Edgar Allen Poe )or (Beware: Do Not Read This by
Ishmeal Reed) involve the reader with the story not with spooky ghouls but with the despairing
thoughts that can occur in the human mind and involve detail which provides us with imagery of
what is happening in the poems, the structure, and style of the poems are Gothic Litrature.
The allure of fear is one that humans seek in movies, roller coasters, haunted houses, and litrature.

200,000, 2.7 percent of them make up the front line units (CNN). This is approximately 5,400
women that are enlisted and are fighting on the front lines. This number is very low and should be
much higher. This number represents the idea that the militarybelieves women should not be on
the front lines. Many people in society believe that what the military is doing is wrong and
females should be able to fight on the front lines. There has been an official ban on women fighting
on the front lines by the military. Recently many people are discussing the idea of lifting the ban
and giving females the ability to fight in the front lines while the other party believes that women
should not.
This ban was stated in 1994 when the Pentagon restricted women from artillery, armor, infantry and
other combat roles. In recent years, women had found themselves in combat in Iraq and
Afghanistan and according to the Pentagon, hundreds of thousands of these women have been
deployed in those conflicts (NYTIMESBANLIFT). One major benefit of lifting the ban will be the
amount of jobs that will be created. This will allow a boost in job openings in the army. No matter
how strong you are, the only thing that matters is the will to fight and to protect the nation.

The British military determined that 1 in 100 trained female soldiers

A Flat Tax Is A System Of Taxation
A flat tax is a system of taxation that taxes at a uniform rate, regardless of income level. In the
United States we currently use a progressive tax system, meaning that high income earners pay
taxes at a higher rate than low income earners. A flat tax rate is a tax system with a constant
marginal rate, which is applied to individual income. There are various taxsystems that are labeled a
flat tax even though they are significantly different. A true flat rate tax is a system of taxationwhere
one tax rate is applied to all personal income with no deductions. A flat tax is a tax that is applied
at a consistent rate with no variables in its application. In contrast with progressive or regressive
taxes, where the rate that is applied... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the true sense of the word, these are actually progressive tax plans, but they fall in between the
current progressive plan and a strictly constant marginal rate.
PROS
1.Simplicity considered a significant benefit of the flat tax system. One tax rate makes for easy
computation by the Internal Revenue Service and straightforward payments from taxpayers.
2.Because the flat tax taxes only one income, it is easier to understand and to report.
3.The flat tax eliminates global taxation and allows the United States to compete more evenly in
global markets.
4.This tax system does not discriminate based on income level; everyone pays the same percent of
income.
5.An advantage of a flat tax is that no one receives special treatment; all people whether poor or
rich are taxed in exactly the same way.
6.Would result in considerable savings to all parties; the time and energy businesses and
individuals spend annually in preparing tax forms would be greatly reduced, as would the costs to
the government of collecting revenue.
7.The Internal Revenue Service could be substantially downsized.
8.For tax payers, the financial cost of complying with regulations set by the IRS is high.
9.With a flat tax system, a section of the tax code biased against capital formation, death tax,
capital gains tax and double taxation of savings and dividends would be removed.
10.A flat tax will only tax earned income.

Zora Neale Hurston Influences
I am not tragically colored. There is no great sorrow dammed up in my soul....I do not belong to
that sobbing school of Negrohood who hold that nature somehow has given them a lowdown
dirty deal....No, I do not weep at the world I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife ( Zora Neale
Hurston, 2009). One woman wrote stories focused on the lives and relationships of black people
within their communities. In many of Zora Neale Hurstons written works, she incorporated her
beliefs, race, culture, and personal experiences. Hurston included feminism as well as pride of her
race in her literary works to combat issues such as sexism and racism.
Growing up, Zora Neale Hurston was surrounded by a religious and creative black culture.
Throughout her childhood, Hurston spent quite a bit of time at a general store owned by Joe
Clark. On the porch of the store, many tales were told and songs were sung, and Hurston credits
the adult lying sessions on Joe Clark s store porch in Eatonville for giving her important insights
into the nature of human behavior ( Zora Neale Hurston, 1992). By the stories and lies told at Clark
s store, it seems to be the main influence to Hurston s writing genre and style. Without the stories ...

the folkways of blacks and her desire to succeed as a creative writer ( Zora Neale Hurston, 1992).
It seems to be that Hurston s experiences with love sets up her theme of feminism by showing the
example of following her passions instead of a man, and furthermore, she implies how women and

The Rf values for the substances on the thin layer chromatograms were also calculated as follows:
Below is a table containing the colour and retention factors of different substances found in plants:
The retention factor of a compound changes from laboratory to laboratory, and even from

This would improve the quality of the chromatograms, as the bands produced would be less faint, as
in Chromatogram B, where the bands are only just distinguishable, especially through a photograph.
The chromatograms in both the paper and thin layer chromatography could also be improved by
using a larger stationary phase. A larger piece of paper or thin layer plate would increase the
surface area of the stationary phase, and give the mobile phase, made up of solvents, more time to
travel up the stationary phase. This would allow the pigments within the sample of plant extract to
spread out more, and also give more accurate Rf values. To produce more accurate results and
improve the chromatograms produced, the chromatography method could have been repeated three
times for each investigation, for example three paper chromatograms with acetone as the mobile
phase, and three with the mixed solvents, and then three thin layer chromatograms with the mixed
solvent as the mobile

Characteristics Of The Slosson Intelligence Test
Slossons Critique
The academic placement of students in today s society is largely due to professional counselors
and intelligence test. What is the role of professional counselors? The role of a professional
counselor is to make quick assessment and devise a brief effective treatment strategy (Lassiter and
Bardos, 1995). Professional counselors use a number of tools to asses intelligence or IQ like,
Stanford Binet Intelligence scale (SB5), Wechsler Adult Intelligence scale(WAIS), Otis Lennon
school ability tests etc... The Slosson Intelligence test is one of the above described tools that
professional counselors use to efficiently obtain cognitive information about children ages 2
through 7 (Erford Pauletta 2005, P. 130). The Slosson Intelligence Test includes a nonverbal scale

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakeur
Literary Analysis: Into Thin Air
In this novel, the reoccurring theme of responsibility is prevalent throughout Krakeur s ascent up
the third pole of the world, Mt. Everest. It is responsibility that eventually leads John s climbing
guide to drive himself to death as he struggles to lead his clients up the mountain. This theme
shows us that a hiking guide should provide the utmost care and satisfaction to his clients
throughout the climb, but should refrain from doing so when the guides own health is in a
significant amount of danger. Even other fellow clients and climbers should be able to depend on
each other for aid and safety, but never at the risk of their own life. The actions of Andy Harris,
Krakauer s climbing guide, and his bold determination to care for the survival and well being of
his clients, make us question the depths to which a person should go to care for other people
before caring for themselves. Harris if first shown to us in a light that suggests he s a bold and
courageous man, even being courageous to the point of recklessness, and this is what eventually
causes him his life. Indeed, this is what actually ends up taking place later in Krakauer s account
of the incident where he describes Harris plodding off to aid a couple of clients. ...Harris who
must have been severely debilitated, if his condition when I d seen him on the South Summit two

Digital Sky Survey Research Papers
Introduction
What is SDSS?
The Sloan Digital Sky Survey is on of the most incredibly demanding and far reaching
astronomical survey ever attempted, so far having created the some of the most detailed three
dimensional maps of the Universe that have ever been made, with deep multi colour images of a
significant portion of the sky (about one third), and spectra for over three million celestial objects.
The survey plans to eventually map the entire sky in enormous detail, such as measuring the
distances to over a million galaxies and quasars, and also calculating the positions and absolute
brightness millions upon millions of celestial objects.
The SDSS attempts to answer intriguing, fundamental questions about the entire universe. As a
result of the survey scientists have been be able to see the patterns of galaxies on an
extraordinarily large scale; sheets and voids throughout the whole universe. Scientists have a
number of theories of the origins of the universe and how it evolved, with different patterns of large
scale structure giving different theories more weight. The Sloan Digital Sky Survey aims to reveal

Future Outlooks
The Federal Reserve is doing all that it can help the economy recover. They have cut the interest
rate ten times this year. The rate now lies at a 40 year low of 2%. Lowering the interest rates will
ultimately excite consumer demand in the economy. Companies will expand and increase use of

Forms of performance enhancement have been filling the world of athletics since the beginning of

The Causes Of Wealth Inequality In America
Grace Ogunkunle
Prof. D. Fozouni
English 102 (SBVC)
Research Paper
Dec 8, 2017.
Wealth Gap In America
Americans today live in a distinctly unequal society. Inequality is now wider than it used to be in
the last century, and the division in income, wages, and wealth are broader than they are in other
developed economies of the world. Wealth inequality is the imbalance of wealth or income within
a society, and it is one of the most vital economic challenge the US is facing today because the
distribution of wealth is more dispersed, making the inequality in wealth distribution at its highest.
While the matter has been discussed for many years, the actual income disparity in the U.S. has
heightened and is now verging on an extreme gap that portends to impede long term economic
growth. The huge gap between the wealthy and poor is squeezing the U.S. economy, the wealth
gap threatens economic growth by diminishing social mobility and producing a less educated
workforce who are not able to compete in the global economy. unrestrained level of income
inequality causes political pressures, it discourages trade, investment, and hiring. The present level
of income inequality in the U.S. is shrinking GDP growth, and the world s largest economy is
struggling to recover from the Great Recession. Wealth inequality has become a hot topic in recent
years, this is because the return rate on capital, such as stocks or real estate, outruns that of
economic growth which resulted in the wealthiest grasping a growing share of wealth, leading to
increasing inequality. The unequal distribution of wealth has been a major hallmark of the U.S
economy, and among its most notable and lasting results, but until it was brought to the awareness
of the public by the Occupy movement s catch phrase referring to the 1% of the populace who
control half of the nation s wealth, this issue had not been brought to the limelight of public
economic and political discourse since the Great Depression of the 1930s, and almost every
American is basically unaware of the true magnitude and character of the unequal distribution of
wealth in our country. Inequality in wealth i.e. the sum of household savings, home equity,
investments, and debts is

Evidence-Based Incentives
Summary:
Lifestyle and behavior among adults has been the topic of major concern in the recent years.
Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors have the potential to exacerbate chronic conditions like
cardiovascular diseases, stroke, elevated blood pressure levels, diabetes, and obesity. Substantial
improvements in behavior and lifestyle of individuals can help curb these high rates of obesity and
avoid devastating effects caused by chronic health problems. Among the options available,
evidence based studies suggest that providing financial incentives could be a better way to
encourage change towards sustainable healthy behaviors. These include providing discounts on
premiums, co insurance or deductibles, providing large amount or rewards for reaching the
targeted health outcome. But these have proven to be beneficial only for short term and only for
certain groups of individuals. In order to increase the likelihood of long term success on the path to
health and wellness, I recommend the policy should consider providing progress based incentives,
and long term targeted incentives for specific high risk individuals.
Background:
Recent reports by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that more than two
thirds of adults and one third of youth in the United States are obese (Ogden, C. L., et al, 2014).
Increased rates of obesity are mainly responsible for serious health problems, rising health care

Animal Abuse And Animal Neglect
When one discusses the topic of animal abuse, normally domestics such as cats and dogs come to

chickens, and other stock animals do not receive proper food, water, and vet care. However, the
community can change the lives of these animals for the better if they implement change.

Lastly, the consumers of the meat or products are affected by the animals if they were not in
perfect health. On the topic of healthy animals, Laura Childs, the author of The Joy of Keeping
Farm Animals describes, buying healthy animals, keeping their bedding clean, feeding quality
hay, providing clean water, and adhering to a veterinary approved vaccination schedule will lead
to healthy animals and then to healthy meat and healthy people (2010, p. 200). Imagine the
quality of meat that would come from an animal that does receive one or more of these
necessary components. Through education and awareness, animal neglect can become a past
memory for all farms. Stockmen, farmers, and everyone else are the cause of the neglect found
on farms. In their article that was published by the American Society of Animal Science, Stull
and Holcomb explain, owner ignorance, economic hardship, and lack of responsibility were the
highest ranked causes of neglect and cruelty cases (2014, p. 2348). This meaning that some
farmers chose to ignore the problems their animals are experiencing. Some can just not afford to
keep the proper care for their animals, economic hardship was ranked first for causes of neglect
(Hull and Holcomb, 2014, p. 2348). Intentional or not, there are no excuses for the abandonment of
animals and the community needs to act to stop it. Furthermore, how we as a society see farm

Making adjustments to these methods and communicating their importance in an efficient way
are going to be important in the future to get more individuals behind the idea. I do question
alternatives to GDP because not everyone weighs things the same when it comes to wellbeing
therefore the use of these methods nationally or even locally might be unjustifiable. A theoretical
foundation to support the Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare (ISEW), Genuine Progress

have developed alternative indexes due to the inadequacy of GDP as a measure of human
progress, which can be use to measure and compare the benefits and costs of growth. These
alternatives to GDP such as the Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare (ISEW) and Genuine
Progress Indicator (GPI) support the threshold hypothesis but they have faced criticism based on
lack of theoretical foundation (Lawn, 2003). Lawn (2003) compares GDP, the Sustainable Net
Benefit Index (SNBI), and ISEW/GPI to the concept of income and capital as outlined by Fisher
(1906) to argue that macroeconomic alternative indexes are theoretically sound. The Fisherian view
believes economic welfare depends on psychic enjoyment of life and not on production or

Poetry as a Reflection of The Inner Being

author explored the themes of personal development and culture clash in one of his most famous

For example relational savoring may be an effective tool for preventing declines in relationship satisfaction , says Borelli (2015:1103 ) In this study, coupleswho were able to savor their relationship had a higher satisfaction rating than those who did not. Talking about all things can only lead to strengthening a long distance relationship and that is why is is an important part of a successful long distance relationship. Next in a study by Borelli (2015), some conclusions were found in the study that contributed to successful long distance relationships. First, physical separations can lead to low security in a long distance relationship, so being sure that each partner feels loved and secure in the relationship. This feeling of security can protect the quality of their relationship from the stresses inherent to LDRs (long distance relationships) , says Borelli (2015: 1085) . To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, portrays the topic of rape in a saddening and sickening manner. This novel is told from a old Scout, who is a part of the Finch family, which goes through life s obstacles while helping anyone and everyone they can to their best ability. While doing so, the father of the family is brought into a switched around rape case with a not so happy ending. There are three main themes that make up the book, which are race , social class, and innocence. The first theme this story seems to show is social class. Since services differ from client to client, it s best to go for SEO companies that will customize your service and price as well as opposed to those that give blanket services for all. Remember that cheap is expensive and you get what you pay for. 4. Use Reviews and Referrals Any company that is offering SEO services will have online reviews and this is regardless of whether or not the reviews are in their site. Reviews are great because they give you the real deal on what to expect with the company. They are basically referrals and you can bet that anyone who received services will vent online while those who got great results will also praise the services online. Referrals are by far the easiest ways to get a good SEO company. Using the above tips, finding a good company for your needs shouldn t be too difficult. That said, it is important to note that there is no perfection when it comes to optimization and if you are looking for number one results all the time, you are positioning yourself for a great deal of frustration. Rhetorical Analysis of the Ugly Truth About Beauty Ms. Sladky 10th Grade Liteature and Composition 4 September 2012 Rehtorical Analsysis of The Ugly Truth About Beauty There is a clichГ© quote that people say, Beauty is in the eye of beholder. But in the essay The Ugly Truth About Beauty (1998) Dave Barry argues about how women who spend countless hours on their so called beauty whereas men seem not to care. Barry uses juxtaposition and exaggeration to poke fun at men and women behavior and shed light on the harm that the beauty industry is doing. When Barry argues his point of his essay he addresses both genders, but more specifically teenage to middle age men and women, but he writes about it in a humorous and light hearted manner. In the essay, Barry juxtaposes men... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for the oppsoite sex, women, would spend on average five thousand hours on their fingernails, which in most cases go unnoticed. The only reason that women care this much about their appearance is because of the standards that the beauty industry has set, which is very difficult to actually achieve and causes problems for the health of women. Such as annerexia, depression and other serious health concerns. Not only does Barry uses juxtapositon he also use exaggeration to argue his views. Barry uses exaggeration to add a sesnse of humor to the essay. He exaggerates the Barbie doll proportions giving her a height of seven feet and eighty one pounds with fifty three of those pounds being bosoms. He also exaggerates mens complacency with their apperance even if their faces cause heart failure in cattle at a range of 300 yards, and when their faces sag and their noses bloat to the size of eggplants and their eyebrows grow together to form what appears to be a giant forehead dwelling tropical caterpillar. With these exaggerations he shows how women are willing to try and be like something that is very hard to achieve, even though they have already achieved their goals in the eyes of men and others. He shows how men are careless about their appearance, even though they may look horrendous; they care more about manly activities. As you can see Barry really used juxtaposition and ... Barack Obama came up with a health care program so that all Americans can gain access to health insurance. The Affordable Care Act increased the possibilities of gaining public health insurance through consumer protections, taxes, insurance exchanges, and others. Aside from helping out people who were in need, the ObamaCare also has an impact on the economy in a good way. Most Americans will benefit from the new rights and protections like guaranteed coverage of pre existing conditions and the elimination of gender discrimination. Your health insurance costs may go up in the short run, but the quality of your insurance just got a lot better ( Rehm). The reason why insurance is getting better is because majority of Americans bought insurance and in a way it s helping out medicaid. Obama promised to lower the premium price for each family up to $2,500. That is huge because they can spend that money on something else. Obama also said that whatever ideas exist in terms of bending the cost curve and starting to reduce costs for families, businesses, and government, those elements are in this bill (heritage). He is simply saying that his Obamacare system will reduce the price for almost everything. Obamacare was first introduced to public in 2009. This information got announced and went viral. People wanted to know what this plan that he was talking about but after a few days later the plan was out there and people were delighted by Obamacare. • 13. Strauss-Howe s Generations Generations Strauss Howe s generational theory explains in detail how the year in which you are born affects your development, attitudes and socialisation in society. William Strauss and Neil Howe designed the theory to be a recurring cycle in America. The generation you are born into can reflect your traits and be a reflection on what type of person you will grow up to be. Strauss Howe examined the patterns in historical generations and used generational events to create a theory revolving around it. These generational events are known as turnings. Although the Strauss Howe generation theory is easy to understand, there can be exceptions. For example, a baby boomer can adjust their lifestyle and attitudes to be more like the younger generations. Family, culture, gender, sexuality, beliefs, location, social class, peers, school and media are all factors that can influence how a person may fit into a certain generation. Due to these factors, many questions can be asked about this theory differing between people born in different countries, people of different cultural, and of different social classes and status. Baby Boomers Prophet (Idealist) 1943 1960 (57 74) Were named after the uptake (?) in birth rates during WWII. At the end of 1943, there were approximately 2.4 million baby boomers, with 1964 having 72.5 million. Bill Clinton was the first baby boomer to serve as president. George W. Comparing Krapp s Last Tape And Embers By Samuel Beckett Suffering: an endless cycle Through the pieces of Krapp s Last Tape and Embers, playwright Samuel Beckett explores the infallibility of memory and language. Beckett spent time in WWII as a member of the French Resistance. His duty as part of the resistance was to type and translate information about the Germans. World War II s influence on Beckett s writing comes through the character s inability to articulate the conscious self in the language one wishes to express themselves in. To escape the constrictions of language, Beckett became a playwright. Beckett asks the reader to grapple with their own existence and their reliance on memory through Krapp, who is unable to remember his past, and Henry who is unable to forget. With this reliance... Closing your eyes to someone doesn t make them disappear to the world. They disappear in your world. So it is essentially becoming nonexistent. Or the saying if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it does it still make a sound. Rational thought knows that just because a person states You re dead to me that they re still alive and very much there, but they also know the feeling of being invisible and nonexistent to someone. Henry was locked out emotionally from his father, and felt the pain of being invisible. • 15. Reflection On Quality Of Service This summer I worked at Broad Street Ministries. It s a church that s a major staple in their community and the homeless. They provide drop in shelter services such as mailing, meals at different times through the week, social services, after school programing, summer camp, enrichment classes and much more. Their goal is to build a community that fosters a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment that provide upscale meals to those less fortunate. My overall opinion of the operation is that it has great values, provide quality services, and strives for excellence in all aid provided. While interning for the past 3 months I had the opportunity to participate in preparing fresh, quality nutritious meals for their guest. I served in any capacity needed. I washed dishes, swept and mopped the floor, prepped food and helped cook at time. My main responsibilities were that of the head pastry chef. I planned and prepared dessert options for 300 guests based on the ingredients provided. Meals are planned based on the ingredients picked from the church s garden and donated from local farms and food establishments. I believe this to be one of this organization s strengths because a lot of focus is put into providing an upscale meal and dining experience to those less fortunate. Equally important, throughout my time there, management was inconsistent in their expectations and direction. The morale of the kitchen staff was low and seemed to really affect the quality of service. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Social Role And Social Roles Everybody in the world belongs to a subcultural group (people that come together that seek out others sharing similar ideas or views) or plays a social role in it. Playing in a social role, as individuals, we act in certain situations differently, such as in a work place, home, or around your peer groups. I believe it s a real occurrence that a lot of people deal with daily. The ideology of a subculture group or the social roles you play forms by separating or belonging in it and forming personal norms, sanctions, material objects, symbols, language patterns, and social institutions. Such as me being an employee (sales associate) at Payless and being a younger sister to an older brother which have similar ways but they also have a few differences. To begin with, when it comes to working for an economic institution I play a certain social role when being a sales associate. I wouldn t act the same way at my job like I do with my family members or my friends such as clowning around, teasing, cursing, or pulling pranks on each other. In my job description there are norms and sanctions that I need to follow, breathe, and live by them. I m responsible for following the Company s safety and environmental laws, regulations, and procedures at work. For instance, always come in on time (unless you call in), follow the safety policies for ourselves and customers such as prevention of accidents removing things that can cause a fall or slip such as a 3 or 8 step ladder s or carts (children might mistake it as a toy), making sure boxes on top of the rack shelves are less than 8 inches high (not in the way for sprinkles or falling over), making sure each aisle is clean (nobody s going to come into a dirty store), putting shoes in their right particular areas and sizes from kids on the left hand side, women s in the middle, and the men s on the right hand side and straight across the back of the store. In addition, to safety reasons in work wear we can wear almost about anything but must be comfortable like business wear or casual (no jeans, open back sandals/heels, and must be knee length) and have a Payless store tag always, also when it comes to lifting boxes we must always wear a black back support belt while lifting. ... According to the Allegre Ringos interview Dr. Ker Scare Specialist discussed that dopamine is released into the brain and produces a natural high. Out of the 200,000, 2.7 percent of them make up the front line units (CNN). This is approximately 5,400 women that are enlisted and are fighting on the front lines. This number is very low and should be much higher. This number represents the idea that the militarybelieves women should not be on the front lines. Many people in society believe that what the military is doing is wrong and females should be able to fight on the front lines. There has been an official ban on women fighting on the front lines by the military. Recently many people are discussing the idea of lifting the ban and giving females the ability to fight in the front lines while the other party believes that women should not. This ban was stated in 1994 when the Pentagon restricted women from artillery, armor, infantry and other combat roles. In recent years, women had found themselves in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan and according to the Pentagon, hundreds of thousands of these women have been deployed in those conflicts (NYTIMESBANLIFT). One major benefit of lifting the ban will be the amount of jobs that will be created. This will allow a boost in job openings in the army. Into Thin Air by Jon Krakeur Literary Analysis: Into Thin Air In this novel, the reoccurring theme of responsibility is prevalent throughout Krakeur s ascent up the third pole of the world, Mt. This theme shows us that a hiking guide should provide the utmost care and satisfaction to his clients throughout the climb, but should refrain from doing so when the guides own health is in a significant amount of danger. Even other fellow clients and climbers should be able to depend on each other for aid and safety, but never at the risk of their own life. On Monday 26, the government officially declared that the U.S. has been in recession since March. (CBS Market Watch. U.S. Officially in a recession. Rex Nutting. [nov 26,2001]. www.cbsmarketwatch.com) However, because of aggressive action by the Federal Reserve and Congress it will be short and mild. The economy will return to sustained, positive growth in the first half of 2002. Future Outlooks The Federal Reserve is doing all that it can help the economy recover. They have cut the interest rate ten times this year. The rate now lies at a 40 year low of 2%. Lowering the interest rates will ultimately excite consumer demand in the economy. Companies will expand and increase use of debt as a result of the low borrowing rates. Coca Cola can borrow money for investing in other products as the interest rates are low. It can use the borrowing on research of new products or technology. As researching for new products would cost less the Coca Cola Companywill sell its products for less and the people will spend as they would get cheap products from ... An initial understanding by Shania that a lack of experience is a commonality of a new business owner must be considered. Inevitably, a multinational corporation is ideal once all the operations of the Christian coffee shop are proven to be efficient, as well as profitable. For example, trial and error will reveal the preferences of variations of coffee together with numerous toppings for the coffee purchased by Colorado residents. In addition, Shania might consider pastries to accompany the coffee. However, the coffee preferences of the Colorado population may vary by a landscape compared to coffee drinkers in Germany. As far as the employees or spouses of members of the corporation who fail to express an understanding of God Almighty, this Christian coffee shop has the potential to be a shining light of the testimony of Jesus Christ. In addition, the testimony of the Lord extends to every individual who enters the coffee shop. Also, God s plans may supersede the expectations of Shania. In the Bible, God instructs His children to plan for the day which you are in, however, each child of God is instructed to leave the planning of the future days to the Lord. In the sixth chapter of Matthew, Jesus speaks to the children of God to not worry for provisions of the body by referencing birds that never go hungry together with grass that is always clothed (6:25 34). I believe airplane design is very important when trying to see how far a paper airplane will fly. So if I have a narrow paper airplane, a very wide one, and one in between, which on will fly the farthest? * The relevance of this experiment is similar to understanding a real airplane. With the exception of the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, both fought against their former colonial power, Britain, this was the first war of the US against a European nation. The conflict, which lasted approximately eight months was also the first major military victory of the United States of a foreign power. Such a war signaled once the Spanish decline as a world power and catapulted the United States to the forefront of the global political disputes. Humans, driven by their natural competitive instinct, have always craved the thrill of winning. Morals become questioned, abilities become enhanced, records begin to be set and all athletes want is more. Many believe that the severity of performance enhancing drugs in the world of athletics is a fairly new concept. What they don t realize is that even as far back as 100 AD the Roman Gladiators were finding different stimulants and hallucinogens to prevent fatigue and injury. In fact, performance enhancements are not limited to just the humanathletes in competition either. During the times of the incredible gladiators, they would feed trusted steeds a substance called hydromel; an alcoholic beverage made from honey that would make them run even faster than before. There s never been a time that gaining that extra edge hasn t been on the mind of our beloved competitors. It s no secret, people love a good show. • 35. The Causes Of Wealth Inequality In America Grace Ogunkunle Prof. D. Fozouni English 102 (SBVC) Research Paper Dec 8, 2017. Wealth Gap In America Americans today live in a distinctly unequal society. Inequality is now wider than it used to be in the last century, and the division in income, wages, and wealth are broader than they are in other developed economies of the world. Wealth inequality is the imbalance of wealth or income within a society, and it is one of the most vital economic challenge the US is facing today because the distribution of wealth is more dispersed, making the inequality in wealth distribution at its highest. While the matter has been discussed for many years, the actual income disparity in the U.S. has heightened and is now verging on an extreme gap that portends to impede long term economic growth. The huge gap between the wealthy and poor is squeezing the U.S. economy, the wealth gap threatens economic growth by diminishing social mobility and producing a less educated workforce who are not able to compete in the global economy. unrestrained level of income inequality causes political pressures, it discourages trade, investment, and hiring. The present level of income inequality in the U.S. is shrinking GDP growth, and the world s largest economy is struggling to recover from the Great Recession. Wealth inequality has become a hot topic in recent years, this is because the return rate on capital, such as stocks or real estate, outruns that of economic growth which resulted in the wealthiest grasping a growing share of wealth, leading to increasing inequality. The unequal distribution of wealth has been a major hallmark of the U.S economy, and among its most notable and lasting results, but until it was brought to the awareness of the public by the Occupy movement s catch phrase referring to the 1% of the populace who control half of the nation s wealth, this issue had not been brought to the limelight of public economic and political discourse since the Great Depression of the 1930s, and almost every American is basically unaware of the true magnitude and character of the unequal distribution of wealth in our country. • 36. Evidence-Based Incentives Summary: Lifestyle and behavior among adults has been the topic of major concern in the recent years. Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors have the potential to exacerbate chronic conditions like cardiovascular diseases, stroke, elevated blood pressure levels, diabetes, and obesity. Substantial improvements in behavior and lifestyle of individuals can help curb these high rates of obesity and avoid devastating effects caused by chronic health problems. Among the options available, evidence based studies suggest that providing financial incentives could be a better way to encourage change towards sustainable healthy behaviors. These include providing discounts on premiums, co insurance or deductibles, providing large amount or rewards for reaching the targeted health outcome. But these have proven to be beneficial only for short term and only for certain groups of individuals. In order to increase the likelihood of long term success on the path to health and wellness, I recommend the policy should consider providing progress based incentives, and long term targeted incentives for specific high risk individuals. Background: Recent reports by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that more than two thirds of adults and one third of youth in the United States are obese (Ogden, C. L., et al, 2014). Increased rates of obesity are mainly responsible for serious health problems, rising health care costs, and rapidly decreasing health outcomes. The escalating rates of ... Lastly, the consumers of the meat or products are affected by the animals if they were not in perfect health. On the topic of healthy animals, Laura Childs, the author of The Joy of Keeping Farm Animals describes, buying healthy animals, keeping their bedding clean, feeding quality hay, providing clean water, and adhering to a veterinary approved vaccination schedule will lead to healthy animals and then to healthy meat and healthy people (2010, p. 200). Imagine the quality of meat that would come from an animal that does receive one or more of these necessary components. Through education and awareness, animal neglect can become a past memory for all farms. Stockmen, farmers, and everyone else are the cause of the neglect found on farms. In their article that was published by the American Society of Animal Science, Stull and Holcomb explain, owner ignorance, economic hardship, and lack of responsibility were the highest ranked causes of neglect and cruelty cases (2014, p. 2348). This meaning that some farmers chose to ignore the problems their animals are experiencing. Some can just not afford to keep the proper care for their animals, economic hardship was ranked first for causes of neglect (Hull and Holcomb, 2014, p. 2348). Perspectives on Wellbeing and Genuine Progress Indicator Metrics from a Canadian Viewpoint Wilson Tyedmers (2013) discuss how recently the economic growth model has been criticized, which has lead to rethinking how economic success and social wellbeing are measured. Improved metrics have aimed to integrate social, environmental, and human welfare in order to properly account for potential costs of economic growth (Wilson Tyedmers, 2013). Making adjustments to these methods and communicating their importance in an efficient way are going to be important in the future to get more individuals behind the idea. I do question alternatives to GDP because not everyone weighs things the same when it comes to wellbeing therefore the use of these methods nationally or even locally might be unjustifiable. A theoretical foundation to support the Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare (ISEW), Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), and other related indexes Lawn (2003) describes that ecological economists have developed alternative indexes due to the inadequacy of GDP as a measure of human progress, which can be use to measure and compare the benefits and costs of growth. These alternatives to GDP such as the Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare (ISEW) and Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI) support the threshold hypothesis but they have faced criticism based on lack of theoretical foundation (Lawn, 2003). Lawn (2003) compares GDP, the Sustainable Net Benefit Index (SNBI), and ISEW/GPI to the concept of income and capital as outlined by Fisher (1906) to argue that macroeconomic alternative indexes are theoretically sound. The Fisherian view believes economic welfare depends on psychic enjoyment of life and not on production or consumption rate (Lawn, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author explored the themes of personal development and culture clash in one of his most famous poems, Ulysses . Tennyson also discovered and analyzed the themes of love and death through his renowned and eminent poem, Tears Idle, Tears . The poet was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire in 1809 in the East Lindy district of England. Tennyson experienced numerous amounts of difficulties in his childhood and growing adolescent phases that spilled into his adult life. He opposed the new scientific knowledge that created a drift from traditionalism. He was rooted in the old style, organic beliefs that the Victorian era was ferociously trying to preserve, as new technology and scientific inventions and theories were being developed.
