1. UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE (UHC)
KISUMU COUNTY SCORECARD - 2020
Health for All
BACKGROUND
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) was launched in
November 2018 to ensure all Kenyans everywhere
get access to quality preventive, curative,
rehabilitative, and palliative health care services;
while also ensuring that these services do not expose
the service users to financial hardship.
The Kenyan UHC programme was piloted in a total
of 4 counties including; Kisumu, Isiolo, Nyeri, and
Machakos. Kisumu County was expected to register
up to 240,000 citizens.
Two years on (after the end of the pilot), the Sexual
Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) - UHC
Alliance has embarked on evaluating the
performance of UHC coverage as a basic package of
health services by implementing a participatory
Community Score Card (CSC) – a first of its kind in
Kisumu County UHC implementation.
