Communication is the one key element of life that sets...
Communication is the one key element of life that sets human beings apart from the rest of the animal
kingdom. The human ability to communicate at a very refined standard has enabled us to build
civilizations and to develop advanced technologies. Technology has undoubtedly advanced throughout
the years and with particular groundbreaking inventions such as the Internet, smartphones and tablets
our ability to effectively communicate in a formal and detailed manner has deteriorated. The means of
communicating across the globe is now easily achieved with the touch of a button or the click of a
mouse, with this effectiveness however comes the issue of the world, as we know it decreasing due to
the rapid growth of technology. The traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could probably be ascribed to the pervasiveness of SMS text lingo among the students. However,
following the wide publication of reports dating back to 2002 on the use of text language in school
assignment, some sections of the public became concerned about the decline in the quality of written
communication.
Another issue that has surfaced due to technological communication is that some people do not have
the same access to online communication tools, such as the Internet, as others might, thus creating a
digital divide . Digital divide refers to the difference in communication technology skills within
groups of people. (John Wiley Sons Australia, 2008) The digital divide is not a clear single gap, which
separates a society into two groups. Researchers report that drawbacks can take such forms as lower
performance computers and difficulty of obtaining technical assistance. There also is a significant
problem with the presented languages on the Internet, thus triggering a communication barrier for
certain countries. The Internet mainly comprises of websites written in English, furthermore leaving
people out of touch with society, friends and family on the Internet and information for a large
percentage of the population. Even if the communication technologies are bringing nations together it
is evidently leaving some communities out, causing a sense of segregation.

Sun Tzu Art Of War
It was but a major coincidence that Sun Tzu s The Art of War came to existence at a similar timeline to
the Greco Persian Wars. Granted, the exact date of the book s publication was unknown, according to
History.com, historians believed that the book was present between the 4th or 5th century BC.
Assuming that the estimated date was right, then it was remarkable how the tactics and strategy used
in the first and second Persian invasions of Greece that took place from 499 BC to 449 BC, paralleled
much of Sun Tzu s ideology and wisdom on warfare. If Sun Tzu somehow were to travel through
space and time to observe the Greco Persian Wars as it happened, he would have been overwhelmed at
the similarities between his principles and the tactics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the Persian army demolished buildings, stole Greek treasure, and reduced the Athens to
rubble when they seized the Greek city. That would have perhaps shocked Sun Tzu the most since he
believed that in the practical art of war, the enemy s country should be left untouched (8). The rule
was not to destroy the conquered cities if possible. (8). It was better to keep besieged cities intact as it
would avoid the large cost of expenditure. Sun Tzu would have likely opposed much of the
generalship shown by the Persians. The general needed a great variation of tactics and an
understanding of the configuration of the country (30). Also, there were some major faults pointed in
the Art of War that were exhibited by the Persian commanders such as recklessness and vulnerability
(31, 32). This was apparent when Xerxes fled after the loss at Salamis. It showed the cowardice of the
ruler and the breakdown of the invasion. In this regard, it was obvious that Sun Tzu would have
condemned many of the Persian actions since it went against the readings of his book. The rulers and
generals of the Persian kingdom made decisions that Sun Tzu would not have made. In retrospect,
presuming that Sun Tzu were to advise the Persian ruler in the war, the outcome of the war would
have been

I found one review by the New York times, the New York times wrote a review directed to parents to
encourage parents to read to their child The Crossover. The New York times mentions that this book
deserved to win both the Newbery Medal and the Coretta School King Book Honor. They also
mention how inspiring this book is as well, inspire a discussion about healthy lifestyle choices and the
impact of those choices on people and their loved ones. ( ) This book is truly about the love of family
and the challenges that are present in families as well. OVerall, this book was about the love of a
family and a positive influence for children everywhere. The next review I found talked about the
contemporary issues about race, There is a traffic stop on the way to a game, in which the boy s father
(like many an African American man) is pulled over for a minor infraction; Josh is warned by his
mother about what happens to young black men who let their tempers get the better of them. () This
book is a great book for young students of different races to create a connection they can relate to.
This review also mentions that his book talks about health concerns such as hereditary hypertension.
This opens up for a discussion on heart health and how to make healthy choices. Lastly, the reivew

The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay
The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East
The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get
anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force of
your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary Azzam
Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was
established. The Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was
hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their children, and so on.
Those are the people who are living in Arab countries, and still despise everything about Israel ...

Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel
shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes
(Regan 22).
The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip, which
was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to
find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with
the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some
reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not
to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their enemies? Of course not.
From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from one
side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the violence, Israel
passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab citizens of Israel
who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54). However that did not appear
to stop the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On October 14, 1956 Egyptian
President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. There is no sense in talking about peace with Israel.
There is not the smallest place for negotiations

Branagh s Hamlet
Hamlet, one of the most intricate and influential plays by Shakespeare, debatably of all time. It has
inspired not only appreciative readers and writing critiques but continuous generations of people. The
inspiration led to the fabrication of many great movies, which wasn t achievable until the 20th century.
Before cinema was the prevalent method of sharing appreciation and spilling emotion for a specific
subject, art portrayed what would fly through our minds such as the many interpretations of Ophelia s
death. With the imagery put into motion we can try and pick apart how certain people might view the
play being portrayed and choose what best suits our expectation of this tragedy. Other things that only
film has been able to present to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film that surpassed all my expectations and gave me exactly what I wanted to see was Kenneth
Branagh s Hamlet. The way I would picture King Hamlets great castle of Denmark came up exactly
the way I thought it would. The 1800 s setting presented in this film gave it more of a professional feel
to it and I loved the vibrant colours throughout the movie. So even though the play is suppose to give
off a gloomy atmosphere, dealing with the concept of suicide, the vibrancy of every scene would grab
your attention away from the themes for a few seconds. It lets you take in the beautiful scenery and
how the play should ve been set up if it did take place in the real world. Scenes such as the burial of
Ophelia, where the imagery and setting change from the graveyard to Hamlets old memories of
Yorick, the contrasts between such vibrant scenes and darker ones mix and interlace beautifully. This
is something that neither Zeffirelli nor Almereyda were able to accomplish in their films. In Zaferelli s
Hamlet the imagery presented throughout was not more than what the settings it could not portray. It
didn t properly grasp more than the generic medieval atmosphere. It would ve been a lot more
successful to include more clips of what life would ve been like for Hamlet and the people of
Denmark. In Almereyda s version it wasn t really his fault for not presenting more imagery of the play
because it was set in modern times, and we have seen countless movies and clips of

Escape From Alcatraz ( 1979 ) Directed By Don Siegel
The legendary film, Escape from Alcatraz (1979) directed by the famous iconic movie maker, Don
Siegel, tells a riveting story about three close inmates and their highly thought out escape plan. Frank
Morris, played by the famous Clint Eastwood, is transported to the most solid and uptight prison,
Alcatraz, in San Francisco, California. He is transferred from a prison in Atlanta, Georgia and booked
into Alcatraz on January 18, 1960. Upon his arrival, the prison warden informs Morris that no one has
ever escaped Alcatraz. He lets Morris know that many have tried to escape, but they were never
successful. As a warning to Morris, the warden states that no one will ever escape under his
supervision. Morris in turn uses this statement from the warden as his motivation to once again escape
from prison. Morris has previously escaped every prison he has been placed in, and this happens to be
the reason for his transfer to Alcatraz. Two other inmates, Clarence and John Anglin who are
biological brothers, assist in the notorious escape and manage to flee alongside Morris. Clarence and
John Anglin are played by the actors Frank Ward and Jack Thibeau. The brothers were not transported
to Alcatraz Island until months after Frank Morris had been transferred and booked. However, the
three friendmates were tight acquaintances in the Atlanta, Georgia prison. The movie and the
characters tell the true and unruly story of the escape from the most secure prison in the United States

Advantages And Disadvantages Of E-Books
Advantages and Disadvantages of E books:
Like many other electronic technologies and electronic content based environment, e books have their
pros and cons. The section tries to investigate some of their benefits and shortcomings (Subba Rao,
2003).
The advantages of e books:
Researchers have reported many pros of e books which have come from the type of environment they
are deployed through. These pros could be summarized in the following items (Subba Rao, 2003;
Abdullah, Gibb, 2009; Levine Clark, 2007; Mulholland, 2012 .).:
1 Easy to Read
The e books are always accessible through electronic machines such as e book readers and computer

When a user buys one copy of an e book, he can share it with many other users, which would decrease
the revenue of the e book companies. It also easy to copy parts from an e book or chapter and uses
them, which require more effective anti pilgrims software to discover the cheating and similarities
between student and researchers as well. By the way all electronic shifts have witnessed these
problems such as software and music production companies in the early 80th (Wiersma, 2013).
2 The Nature of reading habits
One of the most challenges faces e books reader till now that they cannot easy print the book and
reuse it in a printed format, although some are available in PDF format but others sill in a non printed
format. So nonexistence of a physical copy create so sort of resistance from many users perspectives.
Many researchers reported that the nature of reading habits of users which require a physical copy in
their hand is the secret of reading happiness and the disappearing of this physical copy might
influence on the nature of the reading

Verizon Communication Swot Analysis
SWOT ANALYSIS INTRODUCTION.
A business must analyze their general environment and their industries competitive environment in
order for the business to understand their environment. (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, McNamara 2014.)
This comes by doing a SWOT Analysis which is a basic technique. By doing a SWOT Analysis, the
company can identify its strengths and weaknesses which are the internal forces. The analysis also
identifies the external forces which are the opportunities and threats in the industry. Verizon
Communications is the company that will be reviewed.
Verizon SWOT Analysis

Threats
Some of the biggest threats for Verizon is their competition. In the telecom industry there are some
new growing competitors. (Olsen,2015) Sprint and T Mobile seems to the fastest growing ones,
neither of them have as many locations as Verizon although they are still a threat because they are
expanding. Sprint and T Mobile are both working to provide service at a lesser price and they are
probably one of the biggest threats with their major presence across the globe and multiple locations.
(Olsen,2015) This means that Verizon must adapt to any new technologies by offering ease of access
for our customers. They must also keep up on competitive advantage to remain a leading company in
the Telecom industry.
Conclusion It is important for companies to perform such things as a SWOT analysis to evaluate their
positions with internal and external factors. They help managers to see how they are performing and
where they should focus their efforts to stay in competitive advantage with their

Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer s Essay Pitching Your Praise
In the article Pitching Your Praise , the author Elizabeth Hartley Brewer asserts that it is important for
continues growth in kids, that they are allowed to be self sufficient and taught to become independent
learners, to learn how to self assess themselves and to choose their own goals in life. This is
accomplished by grooming kids to not always have the need to feel validated through someone s
approval through empty praise, but by having them feel encouraged through praise that is focused on
their actual efforts and the success of their efforts. The goal of safe praise is to build on your child s
growing capacity for self belief and self motivation so she can begin to rely less on you and judge her
efforts herself. (Hartley Brewer 3)

and have a mostly good outcome for their grades and their personal life. We believe that high school
sports are beneficial to students, they are beneficial to their academic life, their social and personal
life. The first reason why high school sports are beneficial to students is because it teaches the
students life lessons and self confidence. Video 2, CBS News says that according to a recent study

Frostburg State University-Personal Narrative Analysis
A lot of people have life lessons or events that have changed them somehow. I have a very petrifying
experience that changed how I see things. I was about ten years old when this happens my family and
I were going on a trip to Frostburg State University. It was a Friday after school, I had to pack the
night before, so we could leave right after I got off the bus, I remember not being very excited about
going nor were my brothers. My parents were very excited though because it was the college that they
both graduated from. I had no desire in going because I was only ten at the time, so I did not need to
be visiting colleges, or going to more school on my weekend. We were just doing this for my parents,
this obviously meant a lot to them. I don t have much recognition of the ride up because I slept the

was a very eerie place, one of the creepiest places I have ever been too, it was like a ghost town. We
got our room key and began walking to our room, it had dead animals, and creepy baby dolls behind
glass displays, flickering lights, also zero other people in there. I did not like the feeling of the place at

Criminologist Personal Statement
What do you want be when you grow up ? A common question many are asked from an early age. The
answers are usually the same given by children; doctor, astronaut, and police officer. Then through
adolescent and teenage years these answers become more specific such as; marine biologists, brain
surgeon, and engineer. By the first year of college, most young adults are positive in their future career
choices. It was around this time that I answered the age old question for myself. I had set my heart on
becoming a Criminologist.
As a freshman in college I was fascinated and determined to learn what causes humans to make
certain decisions. The type of decisions that motivate an individual to commit a crime, that led me to

Earning a bachelor s degree in Psychology is by far my most important accomplishment. To go on and
receive a Master s degree in Criminal Justice would be an even bigger triumph. I know one look at my
official transcripts from Clemson University would make one believe that I did not take it seriously.
First let me explain, during my undergraduate years I spent a lot of years working a part time job to
financially take care of myself. My family did their best helping me with bills and money when they
could, but I was pretty much on my own. When I was attending Midlands Tech right after high school
I was working six days a week at a restaurant. In the mornings and afternoons I would attend class,
after that I would go straight to work. Once leaving work for the night I would usually spend the next
three to four hours doing homework and studying, and then I would wake up and do it all over again.
For the next year and half, I worked hard to be able to transfer to my dream university. As a person
who suffered from anxiety and depression at the time, attending college was a thought I didn t believe
would become a reality. Overcoming such a crippling mental disorder was a marvelous achievement.
Even during my time at Clemson my record doesn t speak very well, but I did not let the mental illness
stop me from attaining my degree. Eventually, I sought help for dealing with anxiety and depression.
This allowed me to focus somewhat better on school; regrettably I still was working full time. Not
being financially stable legitimately set me back on my grades. Which I regret the most is focusing on
paying for Clemson, and not spending more time concentrating on my school work. As previously
mentioned I do not want to make it seem like I was not passionate about my studies. Currently it s a
hindrance for my acceptance into Columbia College, but I do not regret all the lessons I learned, in the

Hobbes Lord Of The Flies Community Analysis
The Reasons for a Community in Lord of the Flies
Since the dawn of man, there has been a primal calling pulling humans out of solitude and into
communities. When men are put into the state of nature there are certain traits that are almost always
apparent. Hobbes Leviathan shows the true reasons, that are ingrained in man as instinct, for forming a
community. We can see these traits appear in the boys in The Lord of the Flies. The boys in Lord of
the Flies form a community because of the desire of commodious living, the need of a leviathan to not
go to war, and the fear of death. The boys create Jack s tribe because they want to have a commodious
living. As Hobbes states in Leviathan one of the reasons men form a community is the desire ... Show

Hobbes says that the fear of death is also a huge reason in forming communities and it is a primal
instinct in man. In the beginning the boys have the fear of not being rescued which would result in
death. We ve got to decide about being rescued, (Golding 22). This is the first question that comes up
in the boys first meeting. The fear of not being rescued is at the top of their minds. Later on in the
book Ralph and Piggy really get scared of this when the boys join Jack s tribe. Without the smoke
signal we ll die here, (Golding 139). With the realization that they aren t going to be able to keep the
fire going they have a growing fear of death. The boys who join Jack s tribe aren t as afraid of not
getting rescued as they are of getting killed by the beast. This fear of the beast is one of the driving
factors to join Jack s tribe as he seems to know how to deal with it. And about the beast. When we kill
we ll leave some of the kill for it. Then it won t bother us, maybe, (Golding 133). Because the boys
think that Jack knows how to deal with the beast, they feel safer from the beast being with Jack rather
than Ralph. The fear of death is one of the driving factors behind the formation of both

Candian Health Care
Canadian health care differs quite drastically from any other country. To begin with Canada s health
care system is built upon the Canada Health Act. The Canada Health Act is federal legislation that puts
in place conditions by which individual provinces and territories in Canada may receive funding and
get health care services.(Canadian Health Care, 2004) This act was put into place in order to obtain the
primary objectives of the Canadian health care policy which is to protect, promote and restore
physical and mental well being of residents of Canada and to facilitate reasonable access to health
services without financial or other barriers.(Health Canada, 2010) There are five key features that

(Long Term Care Canada, 2011) All in All for this form of service it would be beneficial for this
individual to either have private insurance or for the family to care for them. Palliative or End of life
care is an issue faced in every country, and every country handles this situation differently. Canada has
a rather large support for Palliative care. This form of care can take place in several different settings
such as, hospitals, long term care facilities, home or hospice. The care can be provided by nurses,
physicians, social workers, spiritual advisors, trained volunteers, family and loved ones. (Health
Canada, 2010) Once again this form of care is not required under the Canada Health Act, it is up to the
province/territory to determined coverage. Certain provinces/territories do include this service in their
provincial health plans while others include it in provincial home care budgets or other health service
budgets. While it may be covered, many families still carry a burden of about 25% for caring for their
family members at home or at any facility other than a hospital (Fact Sheet: Hospice Care, 2012, p. 5).
The association that provides the assistance to every Canadian resident is Canadian Hospice Palliative
Care Association. Health care procedures are completed based on the necessity of the procedure.
Acute hospital care is covered according to the Canada Health Act. These services may include,

Spanish Financial Crisis
Spanish financial crisis
Introduction
(source: Wikipedia)
The 2008 2010 Spanish financial crisis is part of the world economic crisis of 2008. In Spain, the
crisis was generated by long term loans (commonly issued for 40 years), the building market crash
which included the bankruptcy of major companies, and a particularly severe increase in
unemployment, which rose to 13.9% in February 2009.
Spain continued the path of economic growth when the ruling party changed in 2004, keeping robust
GDP growth during the first term of prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, even though some
fundamental problems in the Spanish economy were already self evident. Among these, according to
the Financial Times, there was Spain s huge trade deficit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spain accounts for 11.5 percent of eurozone GDP while Greece only accounts for approximately 2.5
percent. Spain is the 4th largest economy in the 16 nation eurozone and it is the 10th largest economy
in the world. If the economy of Spain fails it will cause a shockwave that will be felt in every corner
of the globe. In fact, there are quite a few analysts that believe if Spain defaults it would ultimately
lead to the breakup of the eurozone.
So will the EU step up and bail out Spain? Well, there are rumors that EU officials have begun work
on a bailout package for Spain which is likely to run into the hundreds of billions of dollars, but on
Monday the European Commission, the Spanish government and the German government all denied
that the European Union was preparing a bailout for the Spanish economy.
9 reasons why Spain is a dead economy walking

#1) Even before this most recent crisis, unemployment in Spain was approaching Great Depression
levels. Spain now has the highest unemployment rate in the entire European Union. More than 20
percent of working age Spaniards were unemployed during the first quarter of 2010. If people aren t
working they can t pay taxes and they can t provide for their families.
#2) In an effort to stimulate the economy, Spain s socialist government has been spending
unprecedented amounts of money and that

Book Classification Final Exam
713 Final Exam
Part 1
Question 1. c
Question 2. d
Question 3. d
Part 2
The book, Ceremonial songs of the Creek and Yuchi Indians is unique because it fits comfortably
under classifications of history as well as music. For example, the provided Library of Congress
Classification number shows it categorized with folk music from the American Indians and the Dewey
Decimal Classification makes no reference to the musical aspect instead emphasizing the ties to the
Creek Indians. This is problematic because if someone is not aware of the full topic or title and is
seeking the book, they may disregard the music and be unable to locate the book in their search.
Retrieval requires solid metadata, especially in these instances where one subject or classification is
not enough to adequately describe the aboutness of the work. This is one argument in favor of
increasing the reach of the semantic web and Linked Data to alleviate some of these problems. As
seen in Part 1, achieving coextensivity is not easy when there can only be one DDC or LCC call
number, but multiple LCSH headings assigned.
Part 3 The assignments for this course were certainly eye opening for someone who intends to do
cataloging and classifying work in the future. I naively assumed going in that there would be some
ultimate form of classifying, but it seems the true winning combo is a combination of multiple,
whether that be LCC, LCSH, DCC, folksonomy, or other ontologies. This work is integral to

A Report On My Mortar Platoon
It was a rainy morning in mid October. My mortar platoon was able to do a week s worth of
dismounted patrols tasked with clearing compounds of interest of IED factories, weapons caches, and
drug stockpiles (mainly marijuana). The patrol from the previous day ended with an hour s worth of
small arms and several IEDs. I knew that today would most likely be the same. At around 0600 we
mounted in our MRAPs and Strykers and also picked up the Sappers and EOD. Before leaving FOB
Zangabad we linked up with the ANA that we were doing a joint patrol with and then left our start
point. We drove north on RTE Quebec and made a right onto RTE Hyena near checkpoint 17, which
was an ANA checkpoint. My convoy continued down the road for another 500 meters ... Show more

minutes. As soon as we began to step off again one of the ANA shot into the sky right next to us. We

and just saying he was an idiot and we started moving again. I remember jumping a small stream and
one of the sappers fell onto his back and was rolling side to side saying I can t get up ugh . All the
ANA were pointing and laughing and so were we. We were all having a pretty good time up until now,
joking around and what not. Continuing on we are about to leave the compound to walk alongside a
mud wall that ran north and south. We turn south and start walking down and an ANA soldier looks at
me and says RPG good and shoots a random building with his RPG. Baffled we all just keep moving
forward and then one explosion goes off. A few seconds after another. I look out just in front of me
and see a potpourri of dirt, rocks, and body parts with some hitting me in the face. Machine gun fire

Olaudah Equiano Summary
I had the pleasure of reading The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, Or Gustavus
Vassa, The African, for this week s assignment. Equiano is one of the most well known slaves who
had the opportunity to get educated because he was able live a different lifestyle rather than the one
that most slaves experienced. I deeply admire his effort to share his views on slavery because it was
during a time when blacks did not have much of a voice in society.
One of the reasons why it was very engaging to read this narrative because he informed the reader of
the culture in his homeland, which gave me an idea of Equiano s previous life before slavery. Based
on his descriptive language about his own African culture, it seems like Equiano

Organizational Effectiveness Paper
Summary This paper discusses the relative impact of recruitment/selection, training, and development
for organizational effectiveness. First, recruitment and selection is discussed. Job analysis is very
important in the selection process because it provides a realistic job preview and it identifies relevant
traits and abilities needed for the job. Furthermore, predictive validity of several selection methods are
discussed from which work samples, GMA, tests, and structured interviews are appeared to be the best
predictors of future job performance. Second, the impact of training on organizational effectiveness is
discussed. Training design issues are discussed, and it is argued that training can increase

Job analysis can provide a realistic job preview about what the job will be and therefore reduces early
employee dissatisfaction and turnover (Fisher et al., 2003). Job analysis is also important for the
assessment of job performance in for example 360 degree feedback since a job analysis can set
performance criteria. In this feedback subjective measures are used which are vulnerable to
measurement rating errors like halo effects (Viswesvaran, Schmidt Ones, 2005). Nevertheless,
subjective measures might be very useful to assess organizational effectiveness, especially in relation
to HR practices since subjective measures are mainly used to assess HR or organizational outcomes
which are more directly related to HR practices (Dyer Reeves, 1995). Objective measures involve
actual percentage figures for sales growth or profitability which measure financial and capital market
outcomes and these are more distal and indirectly related outcomes (Dyer Reeves, 1995). Once
applicants with realistic job expectations are recruited the actual selection process starts. Selection is
the process of choosing from a group of applicants the individual best suited for a particular position
and organization (Mony, Noe Premeaux, 2002, p. 175). The recruitment process is very important for
this because

Bethany Hamilton Research Paper
Bethany Hamilton the One Armed Surfer Never know how much someone needs something until it s
gone. This was surfing to Bethany Hamilton. This is her story of fighting to get back in the water and
all of the troubles that came with it. Bethany Hamilton was born on February 8, 1990 in Hawaii on the
island of Kauai (Sandler 28). This is where her love of the water began. Her parents are Tom and
Cheri Hamilton also surfers, along with their two other kids Timmy and Noah (Sandler 6). On the
morning of Halloween in 2003 was the scariest moment in Bethany s life. She and her friend Alana
went surfing in that morning. She was waiting for a good wave, then out of nowhere a fourteen foot
long tiger shark came up and ripped Bethany s arm off. Bethany was rushed to the hospital and was
losing lots of blood. Bethany had to have an amputation, a surgical removal of a body part. It is

The Sniper Response Essay
The Sniper , is an action thriller about a sniper in the Irish republic, a man who is fighting for freedom,
or, as stated in the story, A man who is used to looking into the eyes death (O Flaharty 1). He is
fighting for his life, this is life or death, little did he know who was fighting on the other side. This
story is very suspenseful, and I will tell you what makes suspense so intriguing to us readers.
Tired, weak, and weary, the sniper lays atop the parapet, it is nighttime, suspense at this point is
crawling. He s hungry, thirsty, and starts smoking, there is another sniper, he almost gets `shot because
of the light of his smoke. This story is very suspenseful, it keeps you on the edge of your seat every
paragraph by using words of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like when the enemy sniper shot at him, or when the woman pointed to him. These are both conflicts
that keep you suspicion level extremely high. Us as readers need to be entertained almost every
paragraph. Like when the sniper got shot, I m hit. He muttered. (O Flaherty 1)Lack of entertainment,
may cause the reader s lack of attention to the story. And boy oh boy this story gives you great
entertainment. If nobody was getting shot at, then the suspense would be the sniper trying to cure for
his bleeding forearm. When he stopped the bleeding of the forearm, the suspense went back to him
trying to kill the other sniper. Even if there wasn t a shooting scene all the time, the author made this
story great by choosing more suspenseful ideas that could ve happened in real life. If this story didn t
have any entertainment or excitement, it wouldn t be suspicious at all.
Another fact on why this story is suspenseful, is the use of big events. Extreme, scary events make a
story suspenseful. Events like shooting, killing, getting shot at, keeps this story suspense packed and
very entertaining. Why are big events so suspenseful and entertaining? The reason these big events
keep you on the edge of your seat is that they put you in the story. The author does a good job of
making you think about how scary and terrifying it would be to be in the main character s position he
is in the story. Jeez! What if I was in a war? Would I buckle under the pressure? Would I panic? Will I

were sent to work at were often referred to as hellholes because they were overcrowded, there was a
horrible stench, there was no furniture, and it consisted of many concrete rooms with half naked
humans slumped up against the walls. An account by Charles Lord, a conscientious objector during

I have been in a situation where a man approached me at a Cabelas (sporting goods store) and we were
talking about guns. This man said I was a very charismatic individual and he would like to talk to me
about a job opportunity. To make a long story short, this man was trying to sell me on a pyramid
scheme. I told the man I would have to think his offer over and never called the man back. He tried to
contact me many times, and I ignored his calls and text messages until he finally stopped perusing the
business venture. It was a cowardly way of dealing with the situation, but it worked.
I would definitely visit the countryside in different countries looking for business. I believe that in
more rural areas, most of the time, businesses care more about the people they serve. With fewer
people to cater to they can focus on their consumers. Rural areas, to me, seem to have more
interpersonal communications and can be more attentive to their consumer s needs.
In an event like the one told in the story the only way I prepare myself is by making sure the doors are
locked. Otherwise, if you are in an unknown location, it is kind of hard to prepare for an unknown
situation like street vendors pestering you. And if I was in the situation that the Deputy Mayor of New

Reasons or factors affecting students dropping out from their distance learning studies were found in a
study carried out in 2007 08 by using group interviews and a survey questionnaire. Based on the
reasons found in focus group interviews, a questionnaire consisting of possible dropout reasons was
devised and administered to all dropout students in the two cohorts. The reasons for student dropout
found in the questionnaire study were classified into three categories. The first category of reasons is
called not addressable and is found to predominantly to include students personal reasons. The second
category is called not readily addressable. They include reasons, such as high tuition fees and heavy
amount of coursework. The third category is addressable factors, and these include failure to maintain
motivation in study, and so forth (Yuen, Lee, amp; Tsang, 2011, p. 25).

The Cretaceous Er The Last And Longest Segment Of The...
According to a live science, an article written by Mary Bagley, The Cretaceous Period was the last and
longest segment of the Mesozoic Era. It lasted approximately 79 million years, from the minor
extinction event that closed the Jurassic Period about 145.5 million years ago to the Cretaceous
Paleogene extinction event dated at 65.5 million years ago (Mary Bagley, LS). In the cretaceous
period, the continent of Pangea was still breaking away from itself, forming what we now know as the
seven world continents. In the many eras of dinosaurs, the cretaceous era was responsible for evolving
some, but not all the dinosaurs from full land dinosaurs to some who were able to live both on land
and in water, semi aquatic carnivorous dinosaurs. This era had produced some of the dinosaurs that
maybe us non paleontologist are more familiar with like the all mighty tyrannosaurus rex or the long
neck. Well let me tell you, there were a lot more dinosaurs than just those two. Although the
tyrannosaurs rex was an enormous dinosaur, a bigger dinosaur was discovered in 1912, the
Spinosaurus. This discovery would change peoples, kids, and paleontologists view on which dinosaur
was bigger than the other. This semi aquatic dinosaur, Spinosaurus, was much larger than the T rex
due to its sail like backbones that stuck out of its back. Furthermore, spinosaurus had a huge
advantage that the tyrannosaurus rex did not.

Examples Of The Gap In The Marketing Process Of Huawei
Question 1
When an exchange happens certain gaps are created between production and consumption. The five
gaps created between production and consumption in the marketing process of Huawei are; Space
Gap, Time Gap, Information Gap, Ownership Gap and Value Gap.
Huawei is produced in China and is distributed and sold in Europe, India, Africa and the US and UK.
Their products being produced in one country and distributed to other creates a geographical space
gap between the manufacturer and the consumer.
Another gap in the marketing process of Huawei is the time gap. This time gap is the time taken to
distribute the product, the time taken to establish themselves in the market as well as the time taken to

Huawei s contingency plan is; South Africa s national development plan in which the government

Keats To Autumn Essay
John Keats was an English romantic poet in the early 1800s. One of his best works To Autumn is
beautiful and lyrical, the words creating an entire scene painting a picture in our minds of great
imagery through words that create color, tone, and environment. The poem means much more than
just the description of the season. While some critics have considered it a static poem, there are others
who disagree with that assessment. The poem discusses time and the seasonal nature of life. The poem
can sometimes be thought of as symbolizing a life that has reached its peak and is drifting towards the
sleep of winter. The construction of the poem as a piece of language art has been done with skills that

The second verse describes the labor of autumn as the harvests are processed and the end of the long
cycle of the season is prepared. Autumn is a season of storing of grain, the pressing of apples to cider
and preparations that come with caring for the harvested food that must be tended to in order to
prepare for the long sleep of winter. Autumn is given human characteristics as it begins its long
journey towards the end of its day with all of the applications of labor overseen by the person that
represents the season. We can see this In the last phrase, Keats states And sometimes like a gleaner
thou dost keep Steady thy laden head across the brook Or by a cider press, with patient look, Thou
watchest the last oozings hours by hours (Nemoianu 205). The third verse uses the poet s tool of
personification of autumn, meaning he assigns human characteristics to the season itself. Keats tells
Autumn that she is just as beautiful as spring for the music she creates. The verse praises of the beauty
of Autumn, creating a sense of the color and warmth that exists even though age of the seasons has
arrived. The imagery has reds and yellows even though it is not specifically stated. There is the feeling
of sound that exists within the music of autumn. The way in which Keats presents the

quarrying of high quality stone as far back as 1720.
Ralph Allen Yard (located in the eastern section of Combe Down) is an area that malting s and
industrial activity had been prominent to certain extent. However, over several decades, the yard itself
has been subjected to continuous alteration leading to structural deterioration and redundancy to its
use. The historic significance associated to structural elements of the yard include its exterior walls,
which comprised of stone (Bath Stone). Modern practice had altered these walls with the introduction
of steel frames, which has the potential to reduce the character of the streetscape.

Research Employment Laws Is A Tough One
Picking out just one country to research employment laws was a tough one. I have been very fortunate
that during my childhood (I was a military brat, and lived everywhere) and even the last 16 years of
my adult life (from being in the military myself, and being married to a service member) I have been
to many countries around the world. I have enjoyed my time everywhere I have been, as I am one that
always makes the best of the new situation. I probably would be a great expatriate for a company,
since I am one that loves to indulge myself in the local culture and just learn as much as I can when I
am there. I decided on Germany, as that is one country I have spent the most time in, and one of my
best friends (that is born and raised there) is from there. I have always enjoyed the history and culture
of that country as well.
Hours Worked/Minimum Working Age When I lived in Germany I always thought it was frustrating
that everything was closed on Sundays; as Sundays are my days for grocery shopping, errands and
getting things ready for the following week. I had to learn to re do my routines to accommodate this;
but fortunately, being in Germany as military personnel, I was able to go on post (or base) to get
necessary shopping done as well since American posts/bases were run by American law. Germany has
a law in place that dictates the amount of hours per day/week/year that a person can work and this law
is the Working Time Act (WTA). According to Jung (2001), the

Pornography Abuse And Violence Against Women
There are obvious problems with society today regarding the presence of sexual violence and rape.
The cause of these crimes is difficult to isolate, as it is also difficult material for researchers to
complete studies on. We need a better definition of abuse, and it needs to be stated that the intelligence
and mental instability can affect a man s actions. There can be a place in relationships for pornography
as well, where women are consenting and desire to explore different material, not necessarily being
dehumanized. While Fight the New Drug and Samantha Grey, the author of, A Letter to Men: Porn is
Not Just Women s Problem, both present claims that pornography consumption leads to violence
against women, and plea for society to reject pornography, there are unanswered questions and
overlooked aspects that leave their argument unconvincing. A guideline of what defines abuse and
violence needs to be established to properly examine pornography material. The texts presented high
percentages of violence existing in the pornography films that were used to formulate data. However,
there are no specifics regarding what violence is. Did the standards include elements of dirty talk,
kink, spanking, or BDSM? Fight the New Drug states that In other words, in porn, people are getting
beaten up and they re smiling about it. There is a significant difference in a woman being exposed to
potentially arousing scenarios that affect our sympathetic nervous system such as restraint

Power Circuits Of Electric Power
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Research Background
Power electronics circuits convert electric power from one form to other using electronic devices. By
using semiconductor devices as switches power electronics circuits function, thereby controlling or
modifying a voltage or current. Power electronics application range from high power conversion
equipment such as dc power transmission to everyday appliances, such as cell phone chargers,
cordless screwdrivers, power supplies for computers, and hybrid automobiles. Power electronics
includes applications in which circuits process miliwatts or megawatts. Power electronics include
conversion of an unregulated dc voltage to a regulated dc voltage conversion of ac to dc, conversion
of dc to ac, and conversion of an ac power source from one amplitude and frequency to another
amplitude and frequency. These power converters are classified as rectifiers, AC voltage controllers,
DC choppers and inverters, which covers wide area of residential, commercial and industrial
applications, including computers, transportation and power utilizes [1].
Power electronic converters, especially DC/AC inverters have been extending their range of use in
industrial application because they provide better system efficiency, reduced energy consumption and
improved quality of power. The output voltage of inverter could be fixed or variable at a fixed or
variable frequency and output waveforms are therefore made up of discrete values, producing fast
transition

Hair Wig Research Paper
Human hair wigs are generally an expensive investment. If you need to wear a human hair wig on a
regular basis, you probably want it to look as nice as possible. However, just like natural hair, wigs
need to be taken care of properly in order to keep them looking healthy and in order to prevent
frizzing. If you follow the five tips below, you should be able to not only keep your human hair wig
from frizzing, you should be able to keep it looking healthy and great as well.
Use Natural Products
When you apply products to your human hair wig, make sure that you use natural products. Your wig
will not benefit from the natural oils generally keep your natural hair looking healthy and vibrant. You
need to provide these natural oils through the products that you use on your wig. Try to choose ...

Don t Over Wash Your Wig; Less Is More
When it comes to washing your wig, less is defiantly more. You don t need to wash your wig every
other day like you would wash your natural hair. Your wig will not accumulate oils in it like your hair
does on a daily basis from your body.
Since you can take your wig off at the end of the day and place it on a wig stand, your wig will also
not get tangled up in your sleep and will not accumulate dander in it while you sleep.
Finally, you will not have to use products as frequently on your wig as you do with your natural hair.
A large part of why you have to wash natural hair so frequently is because all the products you use
build up and accumulate in your hair, forcing you to wash it in order to keep it looking clean.
The bottom line is that your wig is not exposed to the same contaminants that your natural hair is, so
you only need to wash your wig about once a month instead of every day like you do with your
natural hair.

The Influence Of Aiden On The Classroom
Aiden
Aiden is very socially aware and has positive peer relationships in the classroom. He is able to solve
problems and is not afraid to speak when he has a concern. Aiden is very eager to learn in both
language arts and mathematics, he works really hard and puts in effort in order to build his fluency
and accuracy when reading and adding his numbers. He is able to understand basic addition word
problems and solve for the unknown using pictures, dots, or manipulatives. He is fluent in telling his
letter names, sounds, and some sight words; however, he is behind in his reading level. He struggles to
decode words through blending and segmented letters and sounds. To improve reading fluency and
comprehension, have Aiden review his sight words, read out loud daily and ask him comprehension
questions about the text and practice blending and segmenting CVC to build vocabulary. For math,
continue supporting addition strategies and fluency through daily math practice.
Alex
Alex is very kind to his group mates within and outside the classroom, he is very social and is liked by
many. He is very shy and timid in whole group sessions, but in small group or partner group session,
he is more comfortable to speak. He expresses his interests in art and is very creative when he draws.
He individually knows his letters and sounds, however, he struggles in blending and segmenting
letters and decoding words when reading. It is also difficult for him to write CVC words and basic
sentences.

Hiv Essay
Imagine a world where an innocent child is given HIV due to mother to child transmission. Imagine a
world where a father cannot play football on an autumn s afternoon with his son because he constantly
feels a lack of energy. Imagine a world where for months straight one has a reoccurring yeast
infection. And lastly, imagine a world where one cannot remember one s very own mother s name due
to short term memory loss. Unfortunately, there is no need to imagine for all of the above are actual
possibilities when living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus. What is HIV? According to

the flu or the common cold. But there is an important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the survey, questions were asked about the participant s financial income, practice of safe sex and
were given HIV tests. The results showed that HIV was detected in 2.4 percent of the people who
were living below the federal poverty line, which in 2007 was an annual income of roughly $10,000 or
less for an individual. The 2.4 percent translates to roughly 1 in 42 people which is substantially
higher than the national average, which is 0.45 percent, or 1 in 222 people. Therefore, it is safe to say
socioeconomic status increases one s risk of contracting Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
Unlike other diseases there is not a cure for HIV therefore possessing HIV prompts many issues. The
primary issue that is parallel to socioeconomic disadvantaged communities regarding HIV is the lack
of finances to get tested for HIV and other STDs. According to costhelper.com on average a test of 7
to 10 STDs including HIV can range from $300 to $400. Prices as such make getting tested very
difficult and nearly impossible for those living under the poverty line. In a community where
healthcare insurance and medical treatment cannot be afforded the spread of such disease through
sexual partners or through mother to child transmission is increased dramatically due to late detection
of the disease because of lack of finances.
HIV prevention in socioeconomic disadvantaged discourse communities struck my interest. Personally
I believe that healthcare is not a luxury or a

The Long Hour
I entered the room wincing with a feel of a deep pulsating sensation over my head. There is a feeling
that my head is bouncing like a ball in a soccer field and a constant blink blink sound is being
transmitted internally into my ears. The tingling sensations in my legs and arms with flashes of light
before the start of this sensation made me anxious. I looked around the room and saw few more people
sharing their pain and feelings with their loved ones. Everyone seemed in problem and is frowning
with the wrinkle on their forehead and a down slant lips. The room occasionally bursts into a laughter
followed by an awkward silence, as if everyone is trying to hear the sound of a dropped pin. Every
few minutes, a pretty woman on her blue scrubs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every second was counting as a minute for me due to the nature of the pain in my head. There were
few people moving out of the doctor s room with some relieved face and many were entering in to join
us. Every type of people was there, some were old, some were young, and some were newborn. A
young woman, in her twenties, with a short, silky red dress entered the room on her catwalk and a tack
tack tack noise of her boot echoed in the room. As she passed by the side, a gush of air whistled
through my ear and a sweet aroma of her fragrance activated my olfactory nerves. I closed my eyes
and felt a great relief on my head. As I closed my eyes, a vivid picture of the beautiful girl revolved
around my eyes and the pulsation of the head decreased. It was a relaxing and an exciting moment
amidst the agony. When I opened the eyes, she was sitting in front of me, but the head again started
pulsating; felt like the rolling of a boiling water and the bright light was disturbing me. I quickly
contracted my periocular muscles to keep my eyes semi closed so that only a fraction of the light
enters my aperture. It led to a self realization of a vital fact that a momentary relief of the throbbing
pain was not because of that sweet fragrance and the beautiful woman, but it was due to the darkness
in my eyes. A partial cure of my suffering amazed me and waited eagerly, with eyes closed and ears

Essay on The Immune System
The Immune System
The immune system is a network of organs that contain cells which recognize foreign substances and
destroys them. All living organisms are exposed to harmful substances and most can protect
themselves in several ways, either with physical barriers or chemicals that repel and kill them. It
protects vertebrates against viruses, bacteria, fungi and other parasites. These viruses are called
pathogens.
The immune system is known to help in the fight against cancer. A type of white cell, which is called
the killer cells, is able to identify tumour cells simply by its change in its surface membrane. Other
cells, called the helper cells, assist the killers to multiply and they then ... Show more content on

Inflammatory response
Diseased organisms trigger the inflammatory response off in the affected tissues. It is a non specific
defence which attacks invading organisms. Blood flow increases and neutrophil cells ingest and
destroy organisms.
The invading organisms damage the tissues so they release prostaglandins and histamine. They not
only attract neutrophil cells they also cause pain and swelling.
The neutrophils in other parts of the body are attracted by poisons which are produced by organisms.
They can get through the tiniest of places in the blood vessel walls to enable it to reach the injured
tissues.
Antibodies are proteins which are specially created to attach themselves to the invading organisms.
Antibodies are recognized by their receptors, the antibody and the diseased organisms attach
themselves to the neutrophils. The neutrophils form pseudopods which swallow up the organisms.
Once ingested the organisms become isolated in the phagolysosome, which is a type of cell. This is
known as phagocytosis.
The substances which have broken down the organisms drain into the phagolysosome. The undigested
parts of organisms can be either excreted at the cell membrane or stored.
The non specific inflammatory response can prevent the spread of infection. However, if infection
does spreads there are two defences an antibody or

Perspectives on Conflicts and Disputes 1 DIS 7A2

November 26th 2014
I primarily disagree with the observation that rule making and rule following makes a hazardous
impediment for people. I concur with the idea that it gives individuals leverage over non people. This
is because the rules make security and request in the general public. Then, if everyone was permitted
to do all that he or she needed without any limitations, this would prompt practices, for example,
homicide, uproars, assault and taking without any results. The vicinity of rule guarantees that such

John Stuart likewise has the view that making rules for individuals is basic because the rules help to
implement ethical quality among people.
In this scenario, there is a dispute between Alice and her children concerning their mother s decision
to take their father, Mr. Ernest to a mental institution without consulting them first. Lack of
communication when taking this action is the main cause of this dispute between both parties. The
best process to help resolve this dispute is through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process
known as mediation. This process of ADR requires a neutral third party, known as a mediator who
helps both parties reach an agreement. The primary purpose of this mediator is to get the parties to
communicate to one another thus foster cooperation by shared exercise. Consequently, Ida, Beatrice
and Donald should appoint a third person who will not be biased on either side to help them address
their concerns and reach a suitable agreement. In this case, the mediator will try to analyze both cases
so as to try and see the similarities between the recommendations of each of the parties. The mediator
will later use this information to encourage an agreement that both parties will like. The advantage
about mediation is that the decision lies with Alice and her children and not with the mediator. The
mediator s role is to

The human ability to communicate at a very refined standard has enabled us to build civilizations and to develop advanced technologies. Technology has undoubtedly advanced throughout the years and with particular groundbreaking inventions such as the Internet, smartphones and tablets our ability to effectively communicate in a formal and detailed manner has deteriorated. The means of communicating across the globe is now easily achieved with the touch of a button or the click of a mouse, with this effectiveness however comes the issue of the world, as we know it decreasing due to the rapid growth of technology. The traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could probably be ascribed to the pervasiveness of SMS text lingo among the students. However, following the wide publication of reports dating back to 2002 on the use of text language in school assignment, some sections of the public became concerned about the decline in the quality of written communication. Another issue that has surfaced due to technological communication is that some people do not have the same access to online communication tools, such as the Internet, as others might, thus creating a digital divide . Digital divide refers to the difference in communication technology skills within groups of people. (John Wiley Sons Australia, 2008) The digital divide is not a clear single gap, which separates a society into two groups. Researchers report that drawbacks can take such forms as lower performance computers and difficulty of obtaining technical assistance. There also is a significant problem with the presented languages on the Internet, thus triggering a communication barrier for certain countries. The Internet mainly comprises of websites written in English, furthermore leaving people out of touch with society, friends and family on the Internet and information for a large percentage of the population. Even if the communication technologies are bringing nations together it is evidently leaving some communities out, causing a sense of segregation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sun Tzu Art Of War It was but a major coincidence that Sun Tzu s The Art of War came to existence at a similar timeline to the Greco Persian Wars. Granted, the exact date of the book s publication was unknown, according to History.com, historians believed that the book was present between the 4th or 5th century BC. Assuming that the estimated date was right, then it was remarkable how the tactics and strategy used in the first and second Persian invasions of Greece that took place from 499 BC to 449 BC, paralleled much of Sun Tzu s ideology and wisdom on warfare. If Sun Tzu somehow were to travel through space and time to observe the Greco Persian Wars as it happened, he would have been overwhelmed at the similarities between his principles and the tactics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, the Persian army demolished buildings, stole Greek treasure, and reduced the Athens to rubble when they seized the Greek city. That would have perhaps shocked Sun Tzu the most since he believed that in the practical art of war, the enemy s country should be left untouched (8). The rule was not to destroy the conquered cities if possible. (8). It was better to keep besieged cities intact as it would avoid the large cost of expenditure. Sun Tzu would have likely opposed much of the generalship shown by the Persians. The general needed a great variation of tactics and an understanding of the configuration of the country (30). Also, there were some major faults pointed in the Art of War that were exhibited by the Persian commanders such as recklessness and vulnerability (31, 32). This was apparent when Xerxes fled after the loss at Salamis. It showed the cowardice of the ruler and the breakdown of the invasion. In this regard, it was obvious that Sun Tzu would have condemned many of the Persian actions since it went against the readings of his book. The rulers and generals of the Persian kingdom made decisions that Sun Tzu would not have made. In retrospect, presuming that Sun Tzu were to advise the Persian ruler in the war, the outcome of the war would have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force of your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary Azzam Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was established. The Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their children, and so on. Those are the people who are living in Arab countries, and still despise everything about Israel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes (Regan 22). The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip, which was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their enemies? Of course not. From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from one side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the violence, Israel passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab citizens of Israel who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54). However that did not appear to stop the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On October 14, 1956 Egyptian President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. It has inspired not only appreciative readers and writing critiques but continuous generations of people. The inspiration led to the fabrication of many great movies, which wasn t achievable until the 20th century. Before cinema was the prevalent method of sharing appreciation and spilling emotion for a specific subject, art portrayed what would fly through our minds such as the many interpretations of Ophelia s death. With the imagery put into motion we can try and pick apart how certain people might view the play being portrayed and choose what best suits our expectation of this tragedy. The film that surpassed all my expectations and gave me exactly what I wanted to see was Kenneth Branagh s Hamlet. The way I would picture King Hamlets great castle of Denmark came up exactly the way I thought it would. The 1800 s setting presented in this film gave it more of a professional feel to it and I loved the vibrant colours throughout the movie. So even though the play is suppose to give off a gloomy atmosphere, dealing with the concept of suicide, the vibrancy of every scene would grab your attention away from the themes for a few seconds. It lets you take in the beautiful scenery and how the play should ve been set up if it did take place in the real world. Scenes such as the burial of Ophelia, where the imagery and setting change from the graveyard to Hamlets old memories of Yorick, the contrasts between such vibrant scenes and darker ones mix and interlace beautifully. This is something that neither Zeffirelli nor Almereyda were able to accomplish in their films. In Zaferelli s Hamlet the imagery presented throughout was not more than what the settings it could not portray. It didn t properly grasp more than the generic medieval atmosphere. It would ve been a lot more successful to include more clips of what life would ve been like for Hamlet and the people of Denmark. In Almereyda s version it wasn t really his fault for not presenting more imagery of the play because it was set in modern times, and we have seen countless movies and clips of ... This is accomplished by grooming kids to not always have the need to feel validated through someone s approval through empty praise, but by having them feel encouraged through praise that is focused on their actual efforts and the success of their efforts. I have a very petrifying experience that changed how I see things. I was about ten years old when this happens my family and I were going on a trip to Frostburg State University. It was a Friday after school, I had to pack the night before, so we could leave right after I got off the bus, I remember not being very excited about going nor were my brothers. My parents were very excited though because it was the college that they both graduated from. I had no desire in going because I was only ten at the time, so I did not need to be visiting colleges, or going to more school on my weekend. By the first year of college, most young adults are positive in their future career choices. It was around this time that I answered the age old question for myself. Earning a bachelor s degree in Psychology is by far my most important accomplishment. To go on and receive a Master s degree in Criminal Justice would be an even bigger triumph. I know one look at my official transcripts from Clemson University would make one believe that I did not take it seriously. First let me explain, during my undergraduate years I spent a lot of years working a part time job to financially take care of myself. My family did their best helping me with bills and money when they could, but I was pretty much on my own. When I was attending Midlands Tech right after high school I was working six days a week at a restaurant. In the mornings and afternoons I would attend class, after that I would go straight to work. Once leaving work for the night I would usually spend the next three to four hours doing homework and studying, and then I would wake up and do it all over again. For the next year and half, I worked hard to be able to transfer to my dream university. As a person who suffered from anxiety and depression at the time, attending college was a thought I didn t believe would become a reality. Overcoming such a crippling mental disorder was a marvelous achievement. Even during my time at Clemson my record doesn t speak very well, but I did not let the mental illness stop me from attaining my degree. Eventually, I sought help for dealing with anxiety and depression. This allowed me to focus somewhat better on school; regrettably I still was working full time. Not being financially stable legitimately set me back on my grades. Which I regret the most is focusing on paying for Clemson, and not spending more time concentrating on my school work. As previously mentioned I do not want to make it seem like I was not passionate about my studies. Hobbes Leviathan shows the true reasons, that are ingrained in man as instinct, for forming a community. We can see these traits appear in the boys in The Lord of the Flies. The boys in Lord of the Flies form a community because of the desire of commodious living, the need of a leviathan to not go to war, and the fear of death. Later on in the book Ralph and Piggy really get scared of this when the boys join Jack s tribe. Without the smoke signal we ll die here, (Golding 139). With the realization that they aren t going to be able to keep the fire going they have a growing fear of death. The boys who join Jack s tribe aren t as afraid of not getting rescued as they are of getting killed by the beast. This fear of the beast is one of the driving factors to join Jack s tribe as he seems to know how to deal with it. And about the beast. When we kill we ll leave some of the kill for it. This form of care can take place in several different settings such as, hospitals, long term care facilities, home or hospice. The care can be provided by nurses, physicians, social workers, spiritual advisors, trained volunteers, family and loved ones. (Health Canada, 2010) Once again this form of care is not required under the Canada Health Act, it is up to the province/territory to determined coverage. Certain provinces/territories do include this service in their provincial health plans while others include it in provincial home care budgets or other health service budgets. While it may be covered, many families still carry a burden of about 25% for caring for their family members at home or at any facility other than a hospital (Fact Sheet: Hospice Care, 2012, p. 5). The association that provides the assistance to every Canadian resident is Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association. Health care procedures are completed based on the necessity of the procedure. Acute hospital care is covered according to the Canada Health Act. These services may include, diagnostic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Spanish Financial Crisis Spanish financial crisis Introduction (source: Wikipedia) The 2008 2010 Spanish financial crisis is part of the world economic crisis of 2008. In Spain, the crisis was generated by long term loans (commonly issued for 40 years), the building market crash which included the bankruptcy of major companies, and a particularly severe increase in unemployment, which rose to 13.9% in February 2009. Spain continued the path of economic growth when the ruling party changed in 2004, keeping robust GDP growth during the first term of prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, even though some fundamental problems in the Spanish economy were already self evident. Among these, according to the Financial Times, there was Spain s huge trade deficit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, there are quite a few analysts that believe if Spain defaults it would ultimately lead to the breakup of the eurozone. So will the EU step up and bail out Spain? Well, there are rumors that EU officials have begun work on a bailout package for Spain which is likely to run into the hundreds of billions of dollars, but on Monday the European Commission, the Spanish government and the German government all denied that the European Union was preparing a bailout for the Spanish economy. 9 reasons why Spain is a dead economy walking (source http://www.businessinsider.com) #1) Even before this most recent crisis, unemployment in Spain was approaching Great Depression levels. • 18. Book Classification Final Exam 713 Final Exam Part 1 Question 1. c Question 2. d Question 3. d Part 2 The book, Ceremonial songs of the Creek and Yuchi Indians is unique because it fits comfortably under classifications of history as well as music. For example, the provided Library of Congress Classification number shows it categorized with folk music from the American Indians and the Dewey Decimal Classification makes no reference to the musical aspect instead emphasizing the ties to the Creek Indians. This is problematic because if someone is not aware of the full topic or title and is seeking the book, they may disregard the music and be unable to locate the book in their search. Retrieval requires solid metadata, especially in these instances where one subject or classification is not enough to adequately describe the aboutness of the work. This is one argument in favor of increasing the reach of the semantic web and Linked Data to alleviate some of these problems. As seen in Part 1, achieving coextensivity is not easy when there can only be one DDC or LCC call number, but multiple LCSH headings assigned. Part 3 The assignments for this course were certainly eye opening for someone who intends to do cataloging and classifying work in the future. I naively assumed going in that there would be some ultimate form of classifying, but it seems the true winning combo is a combination of multiple, whether that be LCC, LCSH, DCC, folksonomy, or other ontologies. My mortar platoon was able to do a week s worth of dismounted patrols tasked with clearing compounds of interest of IED factories, weapons caches, and drug stockpiles (mainly marijuana). The patrol from the previous day ended with an hour s worth of small arms and several IEDs. I knew that today would most likely be the same. Before leaving FOB Zangabad we linked up with the ANA that we were doing a joint patrol with and then left our start point. The other ANA began joking and just saying he was an idiot and we started moving again. I remember jumping a small stream and one of the sappers fell onto his back and was rolling side to side saying I can t get up ugh . All the ANA were pointing and laughing and so were we. We were all having a pretty good time up until now, joking around and what not. Continuing on we are about to leave the compound to walk alongside a mud wall that ran north and south. We turn south and start walking down and an ANA soldier looks at me and says RPG good and shoots a random building with his RPG. Baffled we all just keep moving forward and then one explosion goes off. A few seconds after another. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Job analysis can provide a realistic job preview about what the job will be and therefore reduces early employee dissatisfaction and turnover (Fisher et al., 2003). Job analysis is also important for the assessment of job performance in for example 360 degree feedback since a job analysis can set performance criteria. In this feedback subjective measures are used which are vulnerable to measurement rating errors like halo effects (Viswesvaran, Schmidt Ones, 2005). Nevertheless, subjective measures might be very useful to assess organizational effectiveness, especially in relation to HR practices since subjective measures are mainly used to assess HR or organizational outcomes which are more directly related to HR practices (Dyer Reeves, 1995). Objective measures involve actual percentage figures for sales growth or profitability which measure financial and capital market outcomes and these are more distal and indirectly related outcomes (Dyer Reeves, 1995). Once applicants with realistic job expectations are recruited the actual selection process starts. If nobody was getting shot at, then the suspense would be the sniper trying to cure for his bleeding forearm. When he stopped the bleeding of the forearm, the suspense went back to him trying to kill the other sniper. Even if there wasn t a shooting scene all the time, the author made this story great by choosing more suspenseful ideas that could ve happened in real life. Extreme, scary events make a story suspenseful. Events like shooting, killing, getting shot at, keeps this story suspense packed and very entertaining. Why are big events so suspenseful and entertaining? The reason these big events keep you on the edge of your seat is that they put you in the story. I also put on GM Tow Mirrors, which look sweet. The intake manifold gaskets that came with the LS 6.0 Vortec engine are junk, so I replaced them with the help of Richard Brennan, the head mechanic at Sinclair. Since the Silverado is a work truck package, it doesn t have fog lights, power windows, power locks, or comfort amenities like that. It s a work truck, and I put in Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight bulbs, but I wanted more light. Michael and I went to Advance Auto Parts in Sioux Center and I got LED Light pods. We drilled out the brackets on the pods and flipped the upside down, affixing them to the body mount behind the fog light holes. Michael looped power from the fuse block under the hood into the cab, and ran a return back out. I mounted the pods and then wired the right side to the left side. Michael took power and ran it to the cab, and we tied the pods into a toggle switch which we hid in a cubby hole in the dash, so it doesn t look like redneck butchery. • 38. Keats To Autumn Essay John Keats was an English romantic poet in the early 1800s. One of his best works To Autumn is beautiful and lyrical, the words creating an entire scene painting a picture in our minds of great imagery through words that create color, tone, and environment. The poem means much more than just the description of the season. While some critics have considered it a static poem, there are others who disagree with that assessment. The poem discusses time and the seasonal nature of life. The poem can sometimes be thought of as symbolizing a life that has reached its peak and is drifting towards the sleep of winter. The construction of the poem as a piece of language art has been done with skills that are surprising and inventive. While it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second verse describes the labor of autumn as the harvests are processed and the end of the long cycle of the season is prepared. Autumn is a season of storing of grain, the pressing of apples to cider and preparations that come with caring for the harvested food that must be tended to in order to prepare for the long sleep of winter. Autumn is given human characteristics as it begins its long journey towards the end of its day with all of the applications of labor overseen by the person that represents the season. We can see this In the last phrase, Keats states And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep Steady thy laden head across the brook Or by a cider press, with patient look, Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours (Nemoianu 205). The third verse uses the poet s tool of personification of autumn, meaning he assigns human characteristics to the season itself. Keats tells Autumn that she is just as beautiful as spring for the music she creates. The verse praises of the beauty of Autumn, creating a sense of the color and warmth that exists even though age of the seasons has arrived. The imagery has reds and yellows even though it is not specifically stated. There is the feeling of sound that exists within the music of autumn. The way in which Keats presents the ... CDSM Scheme Executive Summary: Introduction: The current construction site (CDSM interpretation centre scheme) is located in Combe Down village on the east side of rock hall lane near Combe Road. The CDSM interpretation centre scheme is part of £161 million Comb Down Stone Mine project which is estimated about £1.5 million and compromise of eight residential houses, one residential flat and one interpretation centre. History back ground: Historical aspects are long associated with the city of Bath which is distinguished by its buildings and Roman characteristics. The Southern area of Bath is the location of Combe Down, which has been understood to be of archaeological significance. It is this attribute that gave rise to the extraction and quarrying of high quality stone as far back as 1720. Ralph Allen Yard (located in the eastern section of Combe Down) is an area that malting s and industrial activity had been prominent to certain extent. However, over several decades, the yard itself has been subjected to continuous alteration leading to structural deterioration and redundancy to its use. The historic significance associated to structural elements of the yard include its exterior walls, which comprised of stone (Bath Stone). • 40. Research Employment Laws Is A Tough One Picking out just one country to research employment laws was a tough one. I have been very fortunate that during my childhood (I was a military brat, and lived everywhere) and even the last 16 years of my adult life (from being in the military myself, and being married to a service member) I have been to many countries around the world. I have enjoyed my time everywhere I have been, as I am one that always makes the best of the new situation. I probably would be a great expatriate for a company, since I am one that loves to indulge myself in the local culture and just learn as much as I can when I am there. I decided on Germany, as that is one country I have spent the most time in, and one of my best friends (that is born and raised there) is from there. I have always enjoyed the history and culture of that country as well. Hours Worked/Minimum Working Age When I lived in Germany I always thought it was frustrating that everything was closed on Sundays; as Sundays are my days for grocery shopping, errands and getting things ready for the following week. I had to learn to re do my routines to accommodate this; but fortunately, being in Germany as military personnel, I was able to go on post (or base) to get necessary shopping done as well since American posts/bases were run by American law. Germany has a law in place that dictates the amount of hours per day/week/year that a person can work and this law is the Working Time Act (WTA). According to Jung (2001), the ... • 41. Pornography Abuse And Violence Against Women There are obvious problems with society today regarding the presence of sexual violence and rape. The cause of these crimes is difficult to isolate, as it is also difficult material for researchers to complete studies on. We need a better definition of abuse, and it needs to be stated that the intelligence and mental instability can affect a man s actions. There can be a place in relationships for pornography as well, where women are consenting and desire to explore different material, not necessarily being dehumanized. While Fight the New Drug and Samantha Grey, the author of, A Letter to Men: Porn is Not Just Women s Problem, both present claims that pornography consumption leads to violence against women, and plea for society to reject pornography, there are unanswered questions and overlooked aspects that leave their argument unconvincing. A guideline of what defines abuse and violence needs to be established to properly examine pornography material. The texts presented high percentages of violence existing in the pornography films that were used to formulate data. However, there are no specifics regarding what violence is. Did the standards include elements of dirty talk, kink, spanking, or BDSM? Fight the New Drug states that In other words, in porn, people are getting beaten up and they re smiling about it. • 42. Power Circuits Of Electric Power CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Research Background Power electronics circuits convert electric power from one form to other using electronic devices. By using semiconductor devices as switches power electronics circuits function, thereby controlling or modifying a voltage or current. Power electronics application range from high power conversion equipment such as dc power transmission to everyday appliances, such as cell phone chargers, cordless screwdrivers, power supplies for computers, and hybrid automobiles. Power electronics includes applications in which circuits process miliwatts or megawatts. Power electronics include conversion of an unregulated dc voltage to a regulated dc voltage conversion of ac to dc, conversion of dc to ac, and conversion of an ac power source from one amplitude and frequency to another amplitude and frequency. These power converters are classified as rectifiers, AC voltage controllers, DC choppers and inverters, which covers wide area of residential, commercial and industrial applications, including computers, transportation and power utilizes [1]. Power electronic converters, especially DC/AC inverters have been extending their range of use in industrial application because they provide better system efficiency, reduced energy consumption and improved quality of power. The output voltage of inverter could be fixed or variable at a fixed or variable frequency and output waveforms are therefore made up of discrete values, producing fast transition ... Since you can take your wig off at the end of the day and place it on a wig stand, your wig will also not get tangled up in your sleep and will not accumulate dander in it while you sleep. Finally, you will not have to use products as frequently on your wig as you do with your natural hair. A large part of why you have to wash natural hair so frequently is because all the products you use build up and accumulate in your hair, forcing you to wash it in order to keep it looking clean. The 2.4 percent translates to roughly 1 in 42 people which is substantially higher than the national average, which is 0.45 percent, or 1 in 222 people. Therefore, it is safe to say socioeconomic status increases one s risk of contracting Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Blood flow increases and neutrophil cells ingest and destroy organisms. The invading organisms damage the tissues so they release prostaglandins and histamine. They not only attract neutrophil cells they also cause pain and swelling. The neutrophils in other parts of the body are attracted by poisons which are produced by organisms. They can get through the tiniest of places in the blood vessel walls to enable it to reach the injured tissues. Antibodies are proteins which are specially created to attach themselves to the invading organisms. Antibodies are recognized by their receptors, the antibody and the diseased organisms attach themselves to the neutrophils. The neutrophils form pseudopods which swallow up the organisms. Lack of communication when taking this action is the main cause of this dispute between both parties. The best process to help resolve this dispute is through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process known as mediation. This process of ADR requires a neutral third party, known as a mediator who helps both parties reach an agreement. The primary purpose of this mediator is to get the parties to communicate to one another thus foster cooperation by shared exercise. Consequently, Ida, Beatrice and Donald should appoint a third person who will not be biased on either side to help them address their concerns and reach a suitable agreement.
