The Importance Of Environmental Justice
In todays world, there are a fair share of groups with opposing viewpoints as well as mindsets, which
often leads to conflict. Certainly the forestry world has had its fare share of people in power making
decisions based on whats best for them finically or personally, and not what is best for the community
and/or forest. Deep ecology includes a large majority of the same concepts in which they want to work
towards the best interest of the forest and environment, and for the majority focus on the fact that
humans are interfering with the forest to much as it is, and it needs to be changed (Naess, 264).
Environmental justice focuses on how currently there is an elitist membership and narrow scope in the
current conventional environmental practices and tries to work towards sustainability(Gottlieb 1993).
When both of these collide they create what is knows as Wicked Problems , they go beyond scientific,
economic, and techno rational analysis and methods of problem solving ( Nie 307). Hence is is
difficult to know when said conflict has been solved, We use the term wicked in a meaning akin to that
of malignant (in contrast to benign ) or vicious (like a circle) or tricky (like a leprechaun) or
aggressive (like a lion, in contrast to the docility of a lamb) (Rittel and Webber 1973: p. 160) Recently
there has been an increase in the amount of drivers in the modern environmental movement, some of
which are resource scarcity, rise of outdoor recreation, changing

Plato s Critique Of Rhetoric
Through the figure of the sophist, I aim to explore Plato s critiques of rhetoric by looking at two
dialogues in particular, Apology and Gorgias. Using these dialogues as well as references to other of
his dialogues including Phaedrus, Protagoras, and Sophist, I will argue that while Plato critiques the
role of rhetoric in sophist arguments, he does not present the philosopher as free of rhetoric either, as
he himself uses elements derived from the rhetoric he critiques in his arguments. This will then be
argued to be problematic to the traditional conception of the distinction between the sophist and the
philosopher, as well as his overall view of the sophist through his work as a whole. Firstly, I will
consider Apology in the context of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead question me if you can, and prove that I m wrong. Otherwise you must answer me. 15 This
quote is found in a section where he again incorporates rhetoric into his argument. This is another
example of times where Socrates incorporates rhetoric into his argumentative discourse. For this
reason some argue that at times, Socrates is admitting the need of rhetoric in philosophy. In this way,
Socrates is also seen as admitting the power of rhetoric.16 Two more arguments for this regarding
Plato s writing of the work in the context of his oeuvre: the strength of the arguments presented by
Callicles and Gorgias. Gorgias, for example, offers a distinction to separate rhetoric and other areas of
knowledge, which would be a significant detriment to Socrates argument were it accepted.17 Callicles
is also seen as providing a strong argument, and many authors have argued that Socrates attempt to
refute him fails.18 This is also connected in a way to the ultimate outcome of Gorgias; Socrates fails
to persude any of his opponents and ends up confronting Callicles in a rather nasty manner. These are
ultimately written dialogues where Socrates is the protagonist, so it is interesting that the ending is as
such. There are naturally many

Benzoin Synthesis Lab Report
This experiment will involve the conversion of Benzoin into Benzil through oxidation using nitric
acid. Benzoin was synthesized in a previous experiment using two Benzaldehyde molecules and
thiamine hydrochloride as a catalyst. The reaction is known as a Benzoin condensation reaction. This
experiment utilized a wide a variety of techniques including reflux; filtering using a Buchner funnel; a
melting point analysis; and an IR spectroscopy. The total yield for Benzoin was 3.506 grams which
resulted in a percentage yield of 74.74%. Melting point analysis showed that the literature melting
point is 134 135 ᵒC, whereas the experiment melting point was 131 133 ᵒC. In the synthesis of Benzil,
2.328 grams of crude Benzil were obtained. Thus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on theoretical yield calculations, the yield for Benzil at the end of the reaction should be 2.368
grams. However, 2.328 grams of crude Benzil were obtained, producing a percent yield of 98.31%
(see Table 2). Once the crude Benzil was purified, 0.966 grams of purified Benzil remained. Thus, the
percent yield for purified Benzil was 40.79% (see Table 3). The loss of yield could be due to the
washing of the crystals using water before recrystallization. The melting point obtained for Benzil in
the experiment was 92 95 ᵒC (see Table 4). The actual literature melting point for Benzil is between 94
95 ᵒC (Pavia et al, 2013; Chemicalland21). Given that the melting point obtained in the experiment is
close to the actual melting point, the sample is relatively pure. However, since the experimental
melting point range has a wider window and started slightly lower compared to the actual melting
point, there may be some impurities present in the experimental sample of

The Hindenburg s Final Journey
Hindenburg
The Hindenburg was a german made Zepplin which was a large airship that flew because it was filled
with hydrogen gas. The Hindenburg exploded over Lakehurst, New Jersey when the hydrogen gas
leaked creating a fire causing many people to perish. On May 6, 1937 the Hindenburg arrived at

How is your role in government different from an elected official?
1. My role in government is to overlook cases and evaluate evidence. I make sure that the facts giving
are accurate and that everything is presented fairly and unbiased. Judges serve the people while we are
appointed by the president rather than the people.
I see the differences that you present, but what about their similarities, what makes them alike (judges

Essay about The Murders In The Rue Morgue
In Edgar Allan Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue , a crucial statement is declared about how he
views the inner workings of men, as well as how men interact with women in society. The narrative is
based around the horrific murder of two defenseless women, which seems to have been committed by
a mystery beast . Poe demonstrates the primitive violent forces that exist within people, particularly
men, which have the ability to escape in shocking ways, often against a woman. Poe uses violence as a
negative, inhumane act, in order to reinforce the innate brutal impulses that are just under the surface
of all male beings. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Poe describes where the Ourang Outang was
originally taken from, with intent to embody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here he is specifically talking about the Ourang Outang, but he has already symbolically suggested
the Ourang Outang is like man. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In addition, Poe shows the natural
emotion of shame a man feels when someone catches him in the process of doing something wrong,
demonstrated when he says conscious of having deserved punishment, it seemed desirous of
concealing its bloody deeds, and, skipped about the chamber in an agony of nervous agitation;
throwing down and breaking the furniture as it moved, and dragging the bed from the bedstead. Then,
the Ourang Outang realizes his faults and tries to conceal then, as would any man, exemplified by the
statement it seized first the corpse of the daughter, and thrust it up the chimney, as it was found; then
that of the old lady, which it immediately hurled through the window headlong. (122) Within this
specific scene of the story, Poe is able to show that the man and Ourang Outang are very similar in the
way they deal with the situation. The navy man runs

Michigan s Landforms
The shape of Michigan is something very unique to us. Anytime you look at a map of the Earth, you
can find Michigan in two seconds. If you re in the Upper Peninsula, you can point to exactly where
you are. Or if you want to tell someone where a city is located in Michigan, and you don t have a map,
you can just hold up your hand and point. For those of us born and raised in Michigan, it seems like a
completely normal thing to do. The shape of Michigan is really unique, with two separate peninsulas
to tell the story of how our state was shaped into the land we see today. Water has been the
predominant factor in shaping Michigan, starting with glaciers over ten million years ago, to rivers,
rain and lakes that still shape it today. Water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These formations caused the water level in many lakes to drop, and flow into rivers. With the weight
of the glacier removed from the land, isotonic equilibrium occurred. The region began to rise, at a rate
of about thirty centimeters per century (Leelanau, 2004). Water levels in the upper basin began to rise,
forming lakes that filled the Michigan, Huron and Superior basins. Today, this isotonic rebound is still
occurring, but at a rate of 53 centimeters per century. The rebound occurs at different rates across the
area that was covered by the glacier. The difference in rates emerges from the difference in weight of
the glacier. Areas that are rising the fastest today are those that had a thicker or heavier glacial ice, or
those areas that had ice covering those most recently. Because of the difference in rates, the lower
basin rose more slowly that the northern outlets (Leelanau, 2004). As the water changed directions to
flow through the St. Clair River, the shape of the Great Lakes reached a point close to what they are at
today. The shorelines and water level has changed, but the basic flow of water has stayed the same for
the past 2,000 or so

A Review of the Doctrine of Agency by Necessity
INTRODUCTION: The doctrine of agency by necessity establishes that authority shall be assumed, in
a necessitous situation, by a person who acts in the interest of the principal. The Indian Contract Act
remains silent as to classification of the doctrine under any section, though many debate that it is to be
under the head of Section 189. This is an extremely ambiguous area in the law of agency, as there are
quite a few specific scenarios apart from the quintessential shipmaster , which are debatable as to
assumption of authority. In this paper, the concepts of the conditions prerequisite to the assumption of
authority shall be discussed, and then an analysis of the special situations of ambiguity with reference
to cases shall be addressed. ANALYSIS Normally, the authority conferred to an agent by his principal
stands as the limits, beyond which any action taken by the agent has no legal validity and makes the
agent liable. But if the circumstances are so demanding, such that the interests of the principal are at
stake due to a situation of emergency, the law confers certain extraneous rights on the agent which
empower him to take certain measures, even those extending to changing the legal position of the
principal, so as to protect the principal s interests. Even in such cases, there are some conditions to be
satisfied. These conditions are, (1) it must be impracticable for the agent to communicate with the
principal, (2) the act of the agent must be absolutely

fifteen women, all of which are in a profession that is related the field of sport leadership. The subjects
were randomly selected. There were 5 athletic directors, 10 athletes, 3 sportscasters, 7 athletic
administrators, and 8 were a part of the academia side of athletics. The subject pool consisted of
fourteen African Americans, ten Caucasians, and six Latin Americans. Each race was divided into
equal parts: male and female. The age range for the subjects ranged from 22 years old to 50 years old.
Interviews are a form of qualitative research, and was deemed the best way for the researchers to
gather information on the topic. There was much brainstorming associated with building the
questionnaire for this research. The researchers had to come up with a way to answer each aspect of
the topic. The researchers were able to divide the topic being examined into five parts: leadership,
coaching, equal pay, presentation, and team sports. Each section was different, but each other related
in some way back to the presentation of females in team sport leadership. Three pilot studies took
place to ensure validity of the questionnaire, and then edited by the researchers to better suit the study.

Range Rover Analysis
The Myth of The Range Rover and Hollywood In Hollywood you re not considered a prominent
figure, until you drive a Range Rover. For this reason, the Range Rover is the perfect commodity to
exemplify a Hollywood myth. A myth as Roland Barthes describes in Mythologies, is a kind of
speech, in which the history of an object is distorted to signify a new modern history that feels
completely natural to modern society. The Range Rover has been appropriated into Hollywood by
celebrities and is predominantly owned by upper class celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and
David Beckham. This vehicle, which was was originally used in the military and for off roading
terrain has had it s history drained and filled with a new history that signifies a much different myth
than it used to. In this essay, I will argue that the myth of the Range Rover signifies a prestigious and
powerful vehicle, designed with royalty and privilege as it is made specifically for the celebrities and
the famous upper class personalities of Hollywood. The Range Rover s appearance has an
authoritative god like presence caused by the size of the vehicle. It is a large vehicle, but mostly in it s
height as it is not very wide and appears significantly slim. Despite how large the body of the vehicle
appears, it can only sit five people so virtually no additional seating is gained by the size of the
vehicle, therefore the size of the vehicle is not for convenience purposes, but for exterior appearance.

development of eating disorders.
Eating disorders have been found through centuries of doctors records. Some as far back as the
seventeenth century through Morton (1694) descriptions of the symptoms of eating disorders during
this period in time. Despite this eating disorders were only formally known as a disorder until 1980
when it was published in the DSM and more recent editions have shown that there are two different
forms of eating disorders which are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. This assignment will

Stirling and Hellewell discovered that bulimia is more common than anorexia which affects up to
three percent of the population and tends to develop later than anorexia starting mostly in early
adulthood. Many studies have been made to observe how social environments can contribute to the
development of eating disorders, BemIs (1978) believed that eating disorders arise from attempts by
young women to conform to a stereotyped and unrealistic body shape that is shown in magazines,
television, films and adverts aimed at young women. Bemys found that anorexia and bulimia are much
more common in western societies where thinness is regarded as desirable. Ogden (1992) looked at
how the ideal shape for women had become slimmer, the methods they used for the study was to see
what the physical features of female fashion recruitments were in an agency in London between 1967
1987 and analyzed them. The researchers examined the models height, bust, waist and hip
measurements in order to see which was commonly preferred in the fashion industry. After a twenty
year period the results of the study showed that over time the models became taller, with a decrease in
hip and bust measurements relative to waist size supporting the idea that society has changed to desire
the thinner and taller female figure as the ideal body shape. Garner et al (1980) believed that social
pressures do contribute to the onset of eating disorders especially to individuals such as dancers and

The Lunchbox Is A 2014 Indian Film
The Lunchbox The Lunchbox is a 2014 Indian film. The movie is about Ila, a housewife, who s stuck

Saajan, who is going through grief from losing his wife, receives the lunchbox instead. They end up
communicating and helping each other with their problems through little notes in the lunchbox. They
use the lunchbox as an emotional outlet for both.
I enjoyed this movie. It was light on the heart and it pulls you into another person s life and makes you
see from a different perspective. I liked how the actors portrayed the characters. They performed so
well it was as if we were just looking through a glass and watching their everyday life go on. I also
like how the movie catches India in a different light and made it seem like a small, close knitted city

According to your belief, because quality is not definable and is is not based on pure transcendental
knowledge, it is false. Nevertheless, I will attempt to explain to you where your principles seem to fall
short. Quality is scientifically immeasurable and therefore cannot or must not be defined. However
this does not mean it doesn t exist or that it cannot be justified. I now invite you to picture a world
where good and bad has been removed. On the principles of realism, a thing exists of a world cannot
function without it normally . I will attempt to show you the way in which this principle applies to the
existence of quality. A world without good and bad would be meaningless and without purpose. Art,
sports, dance, comedy, flavor, in fact all that relies on the senses would be ruined. The masses would
not be able to tell what was good from bad, funny from boring, bland from savory; life would be
utterly boring. Although the world can function without quality it clearly cannot function normally,
therefore, quality indeed exists regardless if it is defined or not. In fact Quality is what makes up
reality, it is the parent of knowledge, the source of all subjects and objects.

Taking a Look at the Castellammarese War
The Castellammarese war was based in Castellammarese del Golfo, Sicily. The name
Castellammarese refers to immigrants from the town of Castellammare del Golfo in Western Sicily.
This war a power struggle for control of the Italian American Mafia between partisan and Joe
Masseria also known as The Boss and those of Salvatore Maranzano. The war lasted from February,
1930 to April 15th, 1931. The Castellammarse war was between the forces of Masseria and
Maranzano. Tensions between the two were evident as far back as 1928, with one side frequently
hijacking the other s alcohol trucks. Both sided were fluid, with many mobsters switching sides or
killed their own allies during the war. Don Vito Ferro made a bid for control of the Mafia operation in
the United States. He sent Salvatore Maranzano to seize control. In the 1920s the United States Mafia

Character Analysis Of Ivanhoe
Michael Josephson once stated, People of character do the right thing even if no one else does, not
because they think it will change the world but because they refuse to be changed by the world.
(whatwillmatter.com) Character is defined as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an
individual. It is what defines you and how you act, even when nobody is around. In Ivanhoe, by Sir
Walter Scott, many characters play a key role throughout the story. They all have extremely unique
personalities and each of them are gifted with different talents and abilities. Some of the characters are
gifted in fighting, while others are gifted in elegance or beauty. I have become very fond of several of
the characters in Ivanhoe, such as: The Black Knight, Ivanhoe, Rowena, Locksley, and Rebecca.
However, I admire Rebecca s character the most. Rebecca had a large role in the book, which was
impressive for a woman during this time. Many loved her because she was attractive and well
educated. Rebecca was described as, endowed with knowledge as with beauty ( Scott 284). Her father,
Isaac of York, was a Jewish man. Therefore, she participated in many of the Jewish traditions and was
steadfast in her beliefs. Although Rebecca s father was a greedy coward, Rebecca appeared to be a
stunning young lady that possessed characteristics of generosity, courage, and love. When she was
threatened with violence, or shamed for her religion, she responded with humble boldness. Rebecca s
bold character often showed when she always tried to do the right thing. I admire Rebecca the most
because of her selfless, beautiful, and faithful character. Rebecca s selflessness presented itself
through her adoration of medicine and willingness to heal those in need. She even gave medical
treatment to a poor man for free because she did not care for riches. She cared for the needs of others.
At the tournament of Ashby de la Zouche, Ivanhoe was terribly injured from falling off his horse. He
was immediately taken into the care of Rebecca. She put Ivanhoe before herself and cared for his
injuries, despite the consequence. While Rebecca was tending to Ivanhoe s wounds, she fell in love
with him. Although he had his eyes set on another

America s Current Socio Political Events And Values Are...
America s current socio political events and values are reflected through the film industry s portrayal
of superheroes. Annika Hagley writes a very convincing argument regarding this theory in her article
America s need for superheroes has lead to the rise of Donald Trump. Post 9/11, it has become
increasing clear that the issues and values held dear to most Americans are now being portrayed on the
big screen. Fighting back at the enemy and uniting as one are some of the messages in the background
of superhero films released after the attacks on the twin towers. Today, the USA is more divided; just
like the superheroes that have been on the silver screen in recent months. In continuation, America s
allowances for overly violent superheroes and everything said superheroes stand for, are simply just
reflections of their own socio political views and values. It is this allowance that has lead to the rise of
Donald Trump.
Exacting vigilante justice in the name of the greater good has been the message in a handful of
superhero movies released in the past the few years. Almost eerily, this action has matched with the
United State s agenda, invading the Middle East. In recent years, the focus has shifted from fighting
united, to fighting those who do not share the same political views. The Democratic party leader
Hilary Clinton is running a campaign based on liberal views1. Whilst, her opposition, the leader of the
Republican party, Donald trump is appealing to those who

A lot like me , many girls indicated that they were less likely to feel like a leader at school. As seen in
table 8 below, 14 percent of Littles reported that they did not feel like a leader at school, compared to
that of 11.6 percent who did. Conversely, 7 percent of Littles reported that they did not feel like a

Those women needed only to become better adjusted to who and what they were. Friedan, however,
was no ordinary housewife. Before starting her family, she had worked as a newspaper reporter; even
after her children came, she wrote regularly for the major women s magazines. By 1957 she was fed
up with the endless stories about breast feeding, the preparation of gourmet chip dips, and similar
domestic fare that was the staple of Redbook , McCall s , and Ladies Home Journal . She had noticed
many women like herself who worked outside the home and felt guilty because their jobs threatened
their husbands roles as providers or took time away from their children. Thus Friedan began to wonder
not only about herself as a woman, a wife, and a mother, but also about the role society had shaped
women to play. The results of the Smith questionnaire engaged Friedan s reportorial instincts. She
sensed she was onto a story bigger than anything she had ever written. But when she circulated an
article describing the plight so many women were experiencing, the male editors at the women s
magazines turned it down flat. It couldn t be true, they insisted; women could not possibly feel as
guilty or discontented as Friedan claimed. The problem must be hers. Betty has gone off her rocker, an
editor at Redbook told her agent. She has always done a good job for us, but this time only the most

Analysis Of Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
There is a great deal of tension about the ritual that surrounds the Lottery traditions in Shirley Jackson
s short story, The Lottery. Out of fear and superstition, the lottery ceremony continues to exist. In
short, the lottery is more of a tradition rather than a ritual at the point we witness in the story, but out
of respect and fear for tradition, the towns folks are more than willing to commit an act of mass
violence, simply for the sake of a tradition. Born in San Francisco, California on December 14, 1916,
Shirley Hardie Jackson was born to Leslie and Geraldine Jackson. Jackson was raised in quite a
traditional and well off household, which helped develop themes for later short stories. (Alessio 114)
As a young child Jackson loved the subject of witchcraft, and she often spent hours reading various
books. She spent a decent amount of her childhood writing poetry and short stories, and eventually
moved up north and attended the University of Rochester. (Biography.com) After completing her first
year of college, Jackson decided to take a year off and focus on her literature work before moving to a
new college; Syracuse University. During her brief pause in her education Jackson would at a
minimum, write a thousands of words a day to improve her work. Once the two were married, Hyman
received a job as a professor at Bennington College in North Bennington, Vermont where the two
settled and also modeled the setting for her well known short story The Lottery. On June

High School Sports Module Analysis
Do you ever, as an athlete, parent, or fan of Iowa high school sports, want to watch the state high
school sporting events? Because it is well known that the northwest corner of Iowa tends to field the
better sports teams and athletes of the state, typically there is usually quite a few teams representing
the area during the state tournament. When a local team or athlete makes it to state, a group of people
will either go and watch in person, or try to see if the event is being broadcasted on television. Often
the people that can t make the trip to watch in person, like local people, family members, or even high
school athletes themselves, will check if it is on television (Byers 1). Starting during the 2016 2017

That s a question I m sure many people had over the football, wrestling, and basketball state
tournament championships. I ll go into more detail about the CSN Chicago deal with the help of my
interview with Scott Byers. In order to watch the channel CSN Chicago, you need to either live in the
area that your local cable company offers it, or have Dish Network or DirecTV. Like I said earlier,
about 90% of the area that does offer the channel is in the eastern part of Iowa. So if you live on the
western side, and don t have either Dish Network or DirecTV, you are basically out of luck. The local
cable companies could get CSN Chicago into their package but with Northwest Iowa so far away from
Chicago, almost none in this area do. It makes sense not to get the channel only if you want it to watch
IHSAA state events. Scott Byers asked the head of the local cable company in Sioux Center about it
and he said picking up CSN Chicago for three years would cost his company well over a million
dollars. Instead of people on the Eastern side of Iowa, the Northwest Iowa people get to watch Fox
Sports North which shows the Minnesota teams like the Twins and Timberwolves. Next, people might
wonder if this really has to go on for the full three years. Well, I found that answer too in my
interview. Scott said, Most contracts can be broken, but it becomes a legal matter at that point and will
cost whatever the lawyers come up with in negotiations. Generally,

Secession Dbq Essay
During the 1850s, the political climate in America was one of tension, turmoil, and division. Although
there was great opposition for the scandalous Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854, the bill passed and
resulted in the creation of the Republican party. The creation of a new political party portrayed a
division among specific regional states within America. Ultimately, disagreement with the Union
brought forth the topic of secession. In 1861, Texas Governor Sam Houston faced a difficult decision:
to favor or oppose the secession of Texas. Union Sam Houston: The idea of secession could be an act
of defiance, rather than defense. Inherently, our rights are not being stripped from us. Under the

Union supported a free Kansas while we proposed for the state to decide whether they would allow
slavery. If we stay in the Union, the desire to abolish slavery may be forced upon us. Slavery is the
backbone of our economy and we must preserve it. Union Sam Houston: On the other hand, it might
just be better to stay together. We are legitimized as a Union and are recognized by foreign affairs.
This impacts our trade which promotes a stabilized economy and nation. We are stronger together and
differences can be worked on through compromise. Secession Sam Houston: Compromise may be out
of the picture because we have experienced wrongdoings by the Union. For instance, the Union s
violation of returning our fugitive slaves under the Fugitive Slave Law is unacceptable. Additionally,
it would be more ideal to have the ability of setting our own tariffs and slave policy. The idea of
compromise is naive and may continue leading to the suppression of Southern desires. Union Sam
Houston: Maybe we are just not willing to sacrifice our own interests for such compromise. If we
voice our interest to work together, we could avoid violence. Essentially, persisting with secession

Polar Bear Environmental Impact
Throughout history, humans have modified their environment to suit their needs, such as housing,
agriculture, and industry, but we are now seeing major changes to the environment on a scale not
witnessed before. The greenhouse effect has run rampant through man s use of fossil fuels and is
causing major changes to the planet, many unseen by people not directly affected. Human overuse of
dirty energies that produce CO2 has led to shrinking Arctic ice and warmer temperatures that cause
disruption for the animals and people who live there. Glaciers, in places such as Iceland and Canada,
and the Arctic ice sheet are melting, breeding seasons are changing, and people and animals are being

The frequency of long distance swims in the polar bear population is increasing, beginning in late
spring as the sea ice starts melting, when the bears migrate from the sea ice to land or offshore pack
ice (Pilfold et. al. 2017). Warmer temperatures are causing ice to become much thinner and more
mobile. Instead of walking on a consolidated sea ice surface, polar bears may be forced to undertake
long distance swims to complete their migratory route (Pilfold et. al. :190, 2017). Since polar bears are
not pack animals, the effects of climate change on migratory behavior can vary greatly between
individual, and, therefore, this study compares male and female adults and male and female subadults.
Subadults of both sexes swam as much as an adult female did, but adult females with cubs were less
likely to swim than the other age classes (Pilfold et. al. 2017). The swims are also made in correlation
to the ice; there is a positive relation in the distance of the ice from land and the rate in which it
retreated with the frequency of swims. Most swims were made before the ice had reached its
minimum, and when it expands again, the bears track its movement toward the continental shelf

The topic of my paper is to research how effective the Fifth Army Mobile Radio Station was at

enemy propaganda like Axis Sally, who broadcasted threatening messages to frontline troops. Because

Fatty Liver Disease
The risks of consuming sugar do not end with diabetes; studies have also reported sugars connection
to Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Typically, liver disease is seen as a result of the over
consumption of alcohol, but sugar can also have a similar effect on the liver. As previously described,
when glucose is consumed it is dispersed throughout the body via insulin and the extra is sent to the
liver to be stored. Glucose consumed at low to moderate levels will not have an overly detrimental
effect on the liver. Fructose, however, circumvents insulin and is directed straight to the liver
(Stanhope, Sugar Consumption... ). When the fructose reaches the liver it is stored as fat cells, which

Though there is truth in this statement, as aforementioned, if sugar truly is addictive as shown in some
studies, there may be a correlation between overeating and sugar. Even more concerning, in recent
years, there have been multiple discussions arising concerning the sugar industry s involvement in
skewing research conducted on the effects of sugar. These exposés found in both scholarly journals as
well as in publications like Time Magazine suggest great lengths have been made to hide the negative
impacts of sugar from the public. In the article Sugar Industry Influence on Dental Health Policy

being consumed at excessive rates (Keating, The World Sweetener... ). In recent years, the medical

Cell Organelles And Structures
tion of Cell Organelles
Cells are surrounded with a boundary known as the cell surface membrane and as well as holding the
cell together, being semi permeable, it controls the movement of materials across it. Within the cell are
a number of structures each which have specific functions. These structures are known as organelles.
The cell surface membrane and the membranes of any of the membrane bound organelles described
below are made of the same material, a double layer of phospholipid molecules. Within the cell
surface membrane, the intracellular space known as the cytoplasm, contains all the organelles and a
fluid known as cytosol. Within the cytosol is a network of microtubules and fibres called the
cytoskeleton. This cytoskeleton s main functions are to give support to the cell helping to maintain its
shape and aid the movement of organelles. Most cell organelles and structures are common to both
animal and plant cells but there are some differences as outlined in the table below and as seen in fig.

Cobb Is In Reality Examples
I believe Cobb is in reality at the ending scene of the movie. There are a few examples and details that
lead me to believe Cobb is in reality. In parts of the movie Cobb is shown wearing a wedding ring on
his ring finger but that is only when he is in the dream world. Another example is the totem. When
Cobb walked into his home where his children were he spun the totem to test if this was really reality
or if he was just dreaming again. Towards the end the totem is wobbling just like at sometime in the
beginning where after spinning for sometime it eventually fell over leading him to believe that he was
in reality. But it never showed the totem falling over only wobbling at the ending scene. I think that
Cobb was definitely in reality in the ending scene. The last example would be his kids at the end of the
movie. In the earlier parts of the movie he envisions them in the dream world being a lot younger.
Around the beginning of the movie when Cobb was in the dream world his kids are a lot younger. At
the end of the movie where it seems like Cobb is in reality the kids are seen again but this time they

Mass Conservation Within a Ziplock Bag
Question
Does a controlled (closed system) Ziplock bag experiment demonstrate the Law of Conservation of
Mass?
Claim
According to the Law of Conservation of Mass inside a controlled system, mass cannot be created nor
destroyed, only transformed. This statement is accurate, however, a human error occurred when I
performed this experiment. According to my data in the Ziplock bag experiment, the information I
collected did not support the Law of Conservation of Mass.
Evidence
Throughout the Ziplock bag experiment, the Law of Conservation of Mass was present in 50% of the
ten groups ( five out of the ten groups). To collect the mass of everything, the first direction was to
take the mass of the materials used in the experiment. For the Law of Conservation of Mass to be
activated, the Ziplock bag needed to be closed. If a gas was to be formed, no mass would be created
nor destroyed because in a closed or controlled system nothing is able to escape. Based on the four
pieces of data I collected in my data table, the mass of 75% of my data before and after the experiment
stayed the same. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
50% of the group s experiments did not follow the Law of Conservation of Mass because of human
error. For an explanation of why the mass was changed could be as easily explained as not closing the
Ziplock bag or not measuring the materials exactly. When I performed this experiment, I did not add
the correct weights together. Therefore, this resulted in the before and after mass to not be equivalent
and not following the Law of Conservation of Mass. For the 50% of the experiments that did represent
the Law of Conservation of Mass, the mass stayed the same throughout the entire experiment. For
example, Brooke and Lily s mass of their reactants was 32.3 grams. Likewise, after their experiment
was performed the mass was also 32.3

Teenage Pregnancy And Teen Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy has been famously depicted as a situation that involves the female adolescents. For
one to be dubbed as a pregnant teenager, she ought to be at the early age of twelve years though in
most scenarios it has been fourteen and older. In the developed as well as developing countries, the
cause of the teenage pregnancy has been common with most of them being related to the specific
situation of the teenager as well as the group that the teenager interacts with. However, the rate of the

been seen to be susceptible to getting pregnant are more likely to have come from the poor or the low

(Putnam Hornstein, et al, 2016).
One of the situations that have been seen to be common in southern California is that poorer teenagers
have always not been experienced sexually as teenagers from the advantaged families, though they
have been much likely to become pregnant once they engage in the sexual practice. The teenagers that
have been hailing from the families that are financially stable have been more likely in terminating the
pregnancy once they discover it as compared to those from the disadvantaged families where the
teenagers have been opting to wait for delivery s they cannot support the termination of the pregnancy.
It is a factor that has been supported by the proof of nearly seventy percent of the high income
adolescents who become pregnant ending up in aborting. The figure is very high as compared to that
of the poor and low income families that rage between 20 to 30 percent (Putnam Hornstein, et al,

The Influence Of Neorealism On The World War II
Neorealism came to fruition as a result of classical realism. While classical realism was based on the
inclinations of human nature, neorealism proposed the structural constraints determined the behavior
of states in the international realm. After World War II, the call for a politically and economically
integrated Europe was of utmost importance among European leaders because of the brutal human and

system (Snyder, 2001). There is no punishment for irrational or aggressive behavior because of the
anarchic nature of the system so states must rely on themselves for survival, through the use of power.
Due to anarchy, states will balance against their peers by imitation, by boosting their national assets
(internal balancing), forming alliances with other states (external balancing) or by adopting the
successful power generating practices of the prospective hegemon (emulation) (Wohlforth et.al, 2007)

The Influence Of Radical Feminism On Law
Feminist thought has influenced many different arenas of life. One of the most prominent streams is
radical feminism, that seeks to eradicate patriarchy in the United States and implement a system of
law that favors women because of their former state of oppression. Patriarchy, or the oppression of
women by men, is the cornerstone of feminist campaigns. This paper covers three distinctive
influences that radical feminism has had on law in the United States. Radical feminism has influenced
pornography, abortion, and employment law as for the crusade for women s rights. The regulation of
pornography has led to questions on freedom of expression and government intervention into
business. Abortion, one of the most controversial issues, has almost ... Show more content on

The idea of patriarchy is a key concept in the discussion on feminism. Patriarchy, in its most basic
sense is the domination of men over women in every aspect of society, both civil and legal.
Furthermore, an article by Lynne Henderson adequately describes what patriarchy is and its
connection to the legal realm, Thus, feminists concerned about law often frame the issues in terms of
law s relation to patriarchy. Although patriarchy technically refers to families ruled by a senior male
patriarch, it more generally refers to systematic domination and subordination of females by males.
Moreover, patriarchy can be seen as a driving force that rallies feminists around women s rights.
Patriarchy is crucial to understanding feminism with its desire for legal reform, and the elimination of
patriarchy. Owen M. Fiss describes the reality of the oppression that radical feminists believe still

thus creating and perpetuating a gender

How Did The Light Bulb Affect Society
The incandescent light bulb was a phenomenal discovery that occurred during the late 1800 s and was
mainly invented by a man named Thomas Edison. It became a recent essential product that we humans
use on a daily basis in many more appliances than one. This invention was created in 1890 in New
Jersey by Thomas Edison to help people to be able to work during the night after night had fallen and
to make people s lives easier ( Edison s Lightbulb ). It helped many people in an amazing array of
different ways, however, everything has it s disadvantages, and so did the incandescent light bulb (
History of the Incandescent Light. )
One of the main problems that the light bulb addressed is the problem of not being able to do certain
activities during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason for this is because after the invention of the light bulb helped people sell the
incandescent light bulbs and earn money from it ( Incandescent Light Bulb. ). During that time, the
incandescent light bulb was very expensive to buy since it was a very new invention and idea to many
people. But later on, they adjusted the prices so that people in the middle class could buy it as well.
This helped the economy since more work could be done because people who worked in factories
produced more goods, therefore, there was more to sell ( Lighting A Revolution: 19th Century
Consequences. ). As well as that, an electric industry was produced and more people were spending
money on electricity to power their homes. The electric light bulb also brought new ways of leisure
such as film projections. The incandescent light bulb also lead to other inventions such as the
microwave oven, televisions, microscopes and cameras and those are only a few of the inventions that
came out of the incandescent light bulb ( Light Bulb History Invention of the Light Bulb. ). In the end,
the incandescent light bulb caused a huge economical boom from when it was created since it was at a
high demand of electricity and required a lot of money, as well as that, it helped people to be able to
work for longer periods of time, therefore enabling them to produce more goods than usual

  • 2. The Importance Of Environmental Justice In todays world, there are a fair share of groups with opposing viewpoints as well as mindsets, which often leads to conflict. Certainly the forestry world has had its fare share of people in power making decisions based on whats best for them finically or personally, and not what is best for the community and/or forest. Deep ecology includes a large majority of the same concepts in which they want to work towards the best interest of the forest and environment, and for the majority focus on the fact that humans are interfering with the forest to much as it is, and it needs to be changed (Naess, 264). Environmental justice focuses on how currently there is an elitist membership and narrow scope in the current conventional environmental practices and tries to work towards sustainability(Gottlieb 1993). When both of these collide they create what is knows as Wicked Problems , they go beyond scientific, economic, and techno rational analysis and methods of problem solving ( Nie 307). Hence is is difficult to know when said conflict has been solved, We use the term wicked in a meaning akin to that of malignant (in contrast to benign ) or vicious (like a circle) or tricky (like a leprechaun) or aggressive (like a lion, in contrast to the docility of a lamb) (Rittel and Webber 1973: p. 160) Recently there has been an increase in the amount of drivers in the modern environmental movement, some of which are resource scarcity, rise of outdoor recreation, changing ... • 3. Plato s Critique Of Rhetoric Through the figure of the sophist, I aim to explore Plato s critiques of rhetoric by looking at two dialogues in particular, Apology and Gorgias. Using these dialogues as well as references to other of his dialogues including Phaedrus, Protagoras, and Sophist, I will argue that while Plato critiques the role of rhetoric in sophist arguments, he does not present the philosopher as free of rhetoric either, as he himself uses elements derived from the rhetoric he critiques in his arguments. This will then be argued to be problematic to the traditional conception of the distinction between the sophist and the philosopher, as well as his overall view of the sophist through his work as a whole. Firstly, I will consider Apology in the context of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead question me if you can, and prove that I m wrong. This is another example of times where Socrates incorporates rhetoric into his argumentative discourse. For this reason some argue that at times, Socrates is admitting the need of rhetoric in philosophy. In this way, Socrates is also seen as admitting the power of rhetoric.16 Two more arguments for this regarding Plato s writing of the work in the context of his oeuvre: the strength of the arguments presented by Callicles and Gorgias. Gorgias, for example, offers a distinction to separate rhetoric and other areas of knowledge, which would be a significant detriment to Socrates argument were it accepted.17 Callicles is also seen as providing a strong argument, and many authors have argued that Socrates attempt to refute him fails.18 This is also connected in a way to the ultimate outcome of Gorgias; Socrates fails to persude any of his opponents and ends up confronting Callicles in a rather nasty manner. These are ultimately written dialogues where Socrates is the protagonist, so it is interesting that the ending is as such. There are naturally many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Benzoin was synthesized in a previous experiment using two Benzaldehyde molecules and thiamine hydrochloride as a catalyst. The reaction is known as a Benzoin condensation reaction. Based on theoretical yield calculations, the yield for Benzil at the end of the reaction should be 2.368 grams. However, 2.328 grams of crude Benzil were obtained, producing a percent yield of 98.31% (see Table 2). Once the crude Benzil was purified, 0.966 grams of purified Benzil remained. Thus, the percent yield for purified Benzil was 40.79% (see Table 3). The loss of yield could be due to the washing of the crystals using water before recrystallization. The melting point obtained for Benzil in the experiment was 92 95 ᵒC (see Table 4). The actual literature melting point for Benzil is between 94 95 ᵒC (Pavia et al, 2013; Chemicalland21). Essay about The Murders In The Rue Morgue In Edgar Allan Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue , a crucial statement is declared about how he views the inner workings of men, as well as how men interact with women in society. The narrative is based around the horrific murder of two defenseless women, which seems to have been committed by a mystery beast . Poe demonstrates the primitive violent forces that exist within people, particularly men, which have the ability to escape in shocking ways, often against a woman. Poe uses violence as a negative, inhumane act, in order to reinforce the innate brutal impulses that are just under the surface of all male beings. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Poe describes where the Ourang Outang was originally taken from, with intent to embody ... For those of us born and raised in Michigan, it seems like a completely normal thing to do. The shape of Michigan is really unique, with two separate peninsulas to tell the story of how our state was shaped into the land we see today. With the weight of the glacier removed from the land, isotonic equilibrium occurred. The region began to rise, at a rate of about thirty centimeters per century (Leelanau, 2004). Water levels in the upper basin began to rise, forming lakes that filled the Michigan, Huron and Superior basins. Today, this isotonic rebound is still occurring, but at a rate of 53 centimeters per century. The rebound occurs at different rates across the area that was covered by the glacier. The difference in rates emerges from the difference in weight of the glacier. Areas that are rising the fastest today are those that had a thicker or heavier glacial ice, or those areas that had ice covering those most recently. Because of the difference in rates, the lower basin rose more slowly that the northern outlets (Leelanau, 2004). • 11. A Review of the Doctrine of Agency by Necessity INTRODUCTION: The doctrine of agency by necessity establishes that authority shall be assumed, in a necessitous situation, by a person who acts in the interest of the principal. The Indian Contract Act remains silent as to classification of the doctrine under any section, though many debate that it is to be under the head of Section 189. This is an extremely ambiguous area in the law of agency, as there are quite a few specific scenarios apart from the quintessential shipmaster , which are debatable as to assumption of authority. In this paper, the concepts of the conditions prerequisite to the assumption of authority shall be discussed, and then an analysis of the special situations of ambiguity with reference to cases shall be addressed. ANALYSIS Normally, the authority conferred to an agent by his principal stands as the limits, beyond which any action taken by the agent has no legal validity and makes the agent liable. But if the circumstances are so demanding, such that the interests of the principal are at stake due to a situation of emergency, the law confers certain extraneous rights on the agent which empower him to take certain measures, even those extending to changing the legal position of the principal, so as to protect the principal s interests. Even in such cases, there are some conditions to be satisfied. These conditions are, (1) it must be impracticable for the agent to communicate with the principal, (2) the act of the agent must be absolutely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this reason, the Range Rover is the perfect commodity to exemplify a Hollywood myth. A myth as Roland Barthes describes in Mythologies, is a kind of speech, in which the history of an object is distorted to signify a new modern history that feels completely natural to modern society. The Range Rover has been appropriated into Hollywood by celebrities and is predominantly owned by upper class celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and David Beckham. This vehicle, which was was originally used in the military and for off roading terrain has had it s history drained and filled with a new history that signifies a much different myth than it used to. In this essay, I will argue that the myth of the Range Rover signifies a prestigious and powerful vehicle, designed with royalty and privilege as it is made specifically for the celebrities and the famous upper class personalities of Hollywood. The Range Rover s appearance has an authoritative god like presence caused by the size of the vehicle. It is a large vehicle, but mostly in it s height as it is not very wide and appears significantly slim. Many studies have been made to observe how social environments can contribute to the development of eating disorders, BemIs (1978) believed that eating disorders arise from attempts by young women to conform to a stereotyped and unrealistic body shape that is shown in magazines, television, films and adverts aimed at young women. Bemys found that anorexia and bulimia are much more common in western societies where thinness is regarded as desirable. Ogden (1992) looked at how the ideal shape for women had become slimmer, the methods they used for the study was to see what the physical features of female fashion recruitments were in an agency in London between 1967 1987 and analyzed them. The researchers examined the models height, bust, waist and hip measurements in order to see which was commonly preferred in the fashion industry. After a twenty year period the results of the study showed that over time the models became taller, with a decrease in hip and bust measurements relative to waist size supporting the idea that society has changed to desire the thinner and taller female figure as the ideal body shape. Character Analysis Of Ivanhoe Michael Josephson once stated, People of character do the right thing even if no one else does, not because they think it will change the world but because they refuse to be changed by the world. (whatwillmatter.com) Character is defined as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. It is what defines you and how you act, even when nobody is around. In Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, many characters play a key role throughout the story. They all have extremely unique personalities and each of them are gifted with different talents and abilities. Some of the characters are gifted in fighting, while others are gifted in elegance or beauty. I have become very fond of several of the characters in Ivanhoe, such as: The Black Knight, Ivanhoe, Rowena, Locksley, and Rebecca. However, I admire Rebecca s character the most. Rebecca had a large role in the book, which was impressive for a woman during this time. Many loved her because she was attractive and well educated. Rebecca was described as, endowed with knowledge as with beauty ( Scott 284). Her father, Isaac of York, was a Jewish man. Therefore, she participated in many of the Jewish traditions and was steadfast in her beliefs. Although Rebecca s father was a greedy coward, Rebecca appeared to be a stunning young lady that possessed characteristics of generosity, courage, and love. When she was threatened with violence, or shamed for her religion, she responded with humble boldness. Rebecca s bold character often showed when she always tried to do the right thing. I admire Rebecca the most because of her selfless, beautiful, and faithful character. Rebecca s selflessness presented itself through her adoration of medicine and willingness to heal those in need. She even gave medical treatment to a poor man for free because she did not care for riches. She cared for the needs of others. At the tournament of Ashby de la Zouche, Ivanhoe was terribly injured from falling off his horse. He was immediately taken into the care of Rebecca. Before starting her family, she had worked as a newspaper reporter; even after her children came, she wrote regularly for the major women s magazines. By 1957 she was fed up with the endless stories about breast feeding, the preparation of gourmet chip dips, and similar domestic fare that was the staple of Redbook , McCall s , and Ladies Home Journal . She had noticed many women like herself who worked outside the home and felt guilty because their jobs threatened their husbands roles as providers or took time away from their children. Thus Friedan began to wonder not only about herself as a woman, a wife, and a mother, but also about the role society had shaped women to play. The results of the Smith questionnaire engaged Friedan s reportorial instincts. She sensed she was onto a story bigger than anything she had ever written. • 25. Analysis Of Shirley Jackson s The Lottery There is a great deal of tension about the ritual that surrounds the Lottery traditions in Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery. Out of fear and superstition, the lottery ceremony continues to exist. In short, the lottery is more of a tradition rather than a ritual at the point we witness in the story, but out of respect and fear for tradition, the towns folks are more than willing to commit an act of mass violence, simply for the sake of a tradition. Born in San Francisco, California on December 14, 1916, Shirley Hardie Jackson was born to Leslie and Geraldine Jackson. Jackson was raised in quite a traditional and well off household, which helped develop themes for later short stories. (Alessio 114) As a young child Jackson loved the subject of witchcraft, and she often spent hours reading various books. She spent a decent amount of her childhood writing poetry and short stories, and eventually moved up north and attended the University of Rochester. (Biography.com) After completing her first year of college, Jackson decided to take a year off and focus on her literature work before moving to a new college; Syracuse University. During her brief pause in her education Jackson would at a minimum, write a thousands of words a day to improve her work. Because it is well known that the northwest corner of Iowa tends to field the better sports teams and athletes of the state, typically there is usually quite a few teams representing the area during the state tournament. When a local team or athlete makes it to state, a group of people will either go and watch in person, or try to see if the event is being broadcasted on television. That s a question I m sure many people had over the football, wrestling, and basketball state tournament championships. I ll go into more detail about the CSN Chicago deal with the help of my interview with Scott Byers. In order to watch the channel CSN Chicago, you need to either live in the area that your local cable company offers it, or have Dish Network or DirecTV. Like I said earlier, about 90% of the area that does offer the channel is in the eastern part of Iowa. So if you live on the western side, and don t have either Dish Network or DirecTV, you are basically out of luck. The local cable companies could get CSN Chicago into their package but with Northwest Iowa so far away from Chicago, almost none in this area do. It makes sense not to get the channel only if you want it to watch IHSAA state events. Scott Byers asked the head of the local cable company in Sioux Center about it and he said picking up CSN Chicago for three years would cost his company well over a million dollars. Instead of people on the Eastern side of Iowa, the Northwest Iowa people get to watch Fox Sports North which shows the Minnesota teams like the Twins and Timberwolves. Next, people might wonder if this really has to go on for the full three years. Well, I found that answer too in my interview. Scott said, Most contracts can be broken, but it becomes a legal matter at that point and will cost whatever the lawyers come up with in negotiations. Generally, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there was great opposition for the scandalous Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854, the bill passed and resulted in the creation of the Republican party. The creation of a new political party portrayed a division among specific regional states within America. Ultimately, disagreement with the Union brought forth the topic of secession. In 1861, Texas Governor Sam Houston faced a difficult decision: to favor or oppose the secession of Texas. Union Sam Houston: The idea of secession could be an act of defiance, rather than defense. The frequency of long distance swims in the polar bear population is increasing, beginning in late spring as the sea ice starts melting, when the bears migrate from the sea ice to land or offshore pack ice (Pilfold et. al. 2017). Warmer temperatures are causing ice to become much thinner and more mobile. Instead of walking on a consolidated sea ice surface, polar bears may be forced to undertake long distance swims to complete their migratory route (Pilfold et. al. :190, 2017). Since polar bears are not pack animals, the effects of climate change on migratory behavior can vary greatly between individual, and, therefore, this study compares male and female adults and male and female subadults. Subadults of both sexes swam as much as an adult female did, but adult females with cubs were less likely to swim than the other age classes (Pilfold et. al. 2017). John Mearsheimer believes that the goal of states is to maximize power while Waltz believes the goal of states is to maintain their positions in the system (Snyder, 2001).
