Initiatives like any other issues have two sides to it; we must assess both sides to get a better
scope of the issue. Contrary to the believe, propositions gave some benefits to the people of
California as well as the legislature. In 1911 the California legislature passed the initiative process
and was later approved through an election by Californians. By doing so Californians were given
the right to directly vote on constitutional amendments and statues. In California, the legislatureis
prohibited from repealing or amending any statutory initiatives. The first initiativethat had a
beneficial effect on the legislature is Proposition 1A, which professionalized the California

We see that propositions have changed the function of the legislature by creating constraints and
mandating certain actions. The stipulations and mandate of Proposition 13 and 58 is
problematic for it makes it difficult for legislators to create policies or pass the budget.
Proposition13 created a two thirds majority rule, which made it difficult to pass any tax revenue.
This is problematic especially during an economic crisis for the legislature is not able to create
new revenue sources when needed. The two thirds rule imposed by Proposition 13 creates
hostage taking in the legislature for it allows the legislative minority to demand major concession
for their vote. By doing so, the minority in the chamber can stall the passage of policies or even
the budget. We see that reform initiatives really hinder the efficiency of the legislature; it creates
unnecessary barriers for policymaking. Thus, it impedes on the job of the legislature to create
critical policies that address pressing

Funny in Farsi Analysis
The focus of this paper is an analysis of the book Funny in Farsi by Firoozeh Dumas using
concepts from the Lives Across Cultures textbook. Ten concepts are identified and defined from
Chapter readings. Following definitions, examples from the novel of these concepts are shown.
Ethnocentrism is defined as the tendency to judge other people and cultures by the standards of one
s own culture and to believe that the behavior, customs, norms, values and other characteristics of
one s own group are natural, valid, and correct while those of other s are unnatural, invalid and
incorrect. For example, in Funny in Farsi Firoozeh experiences ethnocentrism from citizens here ...

She speaks of being invited to many households for sleepovers as an individual with an unfamiliar
but intriguing culture. Formal learning is set apart from the context of everyday life and is
typically carried out in the institution we know as school and is characterized by an explicit and
highly structured curriculum. Firoozeh is enrolled in American schools and is formally taught.
Later in life she attends Berkeley and funds her learning mostly through scholarship applications.
Informal learning is not characterized by a defined curriculum and is generally picked up by
means of observation and imitation. The responsibility of the learning usually falls on the learner
and is generally picked up from extended family members. Firoozeh focuses on her father in her
novel and ideas gleaned from his character. Her father being an engineer is methodical with his
decisions, sometimes cheap as described by his shopping experiences, but often with good advice.
In collectivist cultures, emphasis is on group success and individual ambitions are generally set
aside for the attainment of group goals. Firoozeh s Iranian culture is principle collectivistic. She
shows examples of this quality through the closeness of her family such as shared meals by her
aunt, financial support between family members, an uncle that cohabitates with her family, and
encouragement of cousins toward success. Fluid intelligence involves the ability to form concepts,

A concept is an image molded from ones on personal experience, knowledge, expectations and

frameworks (Cline, 2015). Concept analysis is a term that refers to the process of unfolding,
exploring, and understanding concepts for the purpose of delineation, comparison, clarification,
refinement, and validation (Townsend Scanlan, 2011, p.1 ). Conceptanalysis makes a vague or
unclear concept to clearer so that everyone shares a common language. When a theory is

Ambiguity means doubtful or uncertain especially from obscurity or indistinctness and or
capable of being understood in two or more possible senses or ways. The VP definitely left me
with doubt or uncertainty in my mind. He stated Once we start sending some people for
leadership training, we will start getting numerous requests for expensive training that we simply

enough to spend on recruitment. This appeared to be ambiguous because he stated that the

would not continue to grow at that time. They would have more qualified executives to help the
company to profit in the upper level executive management. Then he stated There are plenty of

In America, we are known as the melting pot, the country of diversity, where citizens can be
who they want to be. We can be who we want to be, and look at ourselves however we want to;
but how are others looking at us? In many cases, an individual does not even have a chance to
make an impression on somebody, because they have already been judged simply by their physical
aspects. The controversy of one s color has been around since the beginning of time. In the history

We see an example of this when Drew yells at Flipper, saying the issue is your so black you have a
problem! Gaitor also belittles black when he says that he swears before God and white people
when claiming he will not ask for money. In this statement Gaitor is saying that white people are
sacred, and they are basically above everyone else and can be compared to God. Drew and her
friends realize after they find that Flipper has been unfaithful that they are loosing all of their
black men. One of Drew s friends states that there aint a good black man out there , which is a
major symbolic shot to the labeling of African American s. African Americans may look down on
themselves because they are a minority group in America compared to white people. According to
Henslin a minority group s physical or cultural traits are held in low esteem by the dominant group,
who treats them unfairly (266). Flipper s father talks of the white women, or the dominant group as
being a pure race compared to other races. White women are seen in his eyes as very high up on the
social status, with much power.
The reason many people in America today, as well as in the movie are racist is because this is
how they were brought up, by the labels they were taught to live by. Past generations were
exposed to segregation between ethnic groups, which has greatly carried on to how people look at
others today. Up until 1967 it was prohibited for blacks to marry white people in 38 states

10. Period Of Susceptibility In Kittens
1.The period of susceptibility, as defined in the present study, is a critical period in which vision is
developed. The researchers discovered that the period of susceptibility in kittens has a sudden onset
at the beginning of the fourth week of life. A gradual decline in the period of susceptibility is seen
sometime between the sixth and eighth weeks of life and continues through the end of the third
month of life. By the end of the third month and the beginning of the fourth month, the period of
susceptibility disappears.

Figure 9 contains two ocular dominance histograms of the left visual cortexes (9A and 9B) in
which two kittens had a period of monocular deprivation in their right eyes during the first three
to four months of their lives. In Figure 9A, both eyes were kept open for thirty months and then
the results were recorded, which shows ocular dominance in the left eye (expected based on the
research). However, in Figure 9B, following the original period of deprivation in the right eye,
the kitten s left eye was then sutured closed for a complete year, after which remained open with
the right eye for four years and ten months. The results of this cat were recorded at age six years
and one month. One may expect the results in Figure 9B to show ocular dominance in the right
eye due to the fact that the left eye was closed for a longer period of time (roughly 8 months).
However, the results instead show ocular dominance in the left eye like Figure 9A does. This can
be explained based off of the research that the period of susceptibility ends around the fourth
month of life. Because the right eye was deprived during the period of susceptibility, but the left
eye deprivation occurred after the conclusion of this sensitive period of cell growth and connection
formation, the left eye displayed dominance. This again suggests that the length of deprivation does
not necessarily matter as long as it does not occur during the period of

Annie Lee Moss appearance before McCarthy s committee (1954) In addition to limiting
freedom of speech through the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Smith Act, Congress continued
on a witch hunt to remove all dissenters in any way they could, often charging and prosecuting
individuals based on circumstantial evidence. This period, often referred to as the Second Red
Scare, followed World War II and came as the United States entered the Cold War, was a time of
much paranoia. One of the many cases during this period that showed how little evidence was
used against individuals to incriminate them was the case of Annie Lee Moss. According to a
F.B.I informant, Ms. Moss was a card carrying, dues paying member of the Communist party and
was brought to testify before McCarthy s committee, for she was alleged to have examined and
correct secret, encoded oversee messages. (The McCarthy Years) As they began to question
Moss, it became clear that the evidence against her was only circumstantial. For starters, the
F.B.I informant had never seen Moss in person, but just knew her name appeared in records kept
by the communist party. This was clearly not enough to convict someone of being a spy,
especially since it was later said in testimony that three others name Annie Lee Moss in the area.
Second of all, she was said to have connections with a white man by the name of Rob Halls, who
was a well known Communist, but the Rob Halls Moss knew was a colored man. This once again

arguments on when and how the land should be returned. The merits of this resolution and the
prospective solutions offered are still debated to this day. The treaties and declarations following

fog clears away to understand that the UN Security Council Resolution is a failure to achieve peace,
unless both Israel and the Palestinian authorities are willing to compromise.
Discussion
History: The historical background to the war can be traced to the actions of the Egyptian
president Nasser. Nasser had asked UN Secretary General U Thant to remove the UN peace
keeping force from Egypt . When the UN had withdrawn its forces there had been three
developments that took place. The first development was a rising tide of guerrilla activity against
Israeli targets by Palestinians . Secondly, Israeli response since its inception had to retaliate harshly
for Arab attacks or ceasefire violations . Thirdly, the rumor that Israeli troops were gathering near
the Syrian border raised tensions .
The Syrian Ba th party also had a view towards the Arab Israeli conflict that exasperated the
situation between the Israelis and her neighbors. They maintained that the solution to the problem
was by exterminating the Israeli state and restoring the land that had been taken away from its
owners, apply all means needed to prevent Israel from making any new gains, and

14. The Pros And Cons Of Television Shows
If you have ever watched TV, you might notice many commonalities and trends between many of
the TV shows that are on air. The shows usually follow similar storylines of a protagonist
(usually male) who struggles with their own moral values, usually stirring up trouble for
themselves and those around them. Now you re probably asking yourself: Hm I wonder why so
many shows follow similar patterns? Well the answer to that question is because of YOU! It s
all your fault that TV can be so monotonous and repetitive. You are a part of a giant collective
that drives what TV shows are being shown, what TV shows are being cancelled, and even when
TV shows are being played. You are a part of the audience. The audience is what drives TV shows
to be the entertaining platforms that they are meant to be, but they are also the most crippling
aspect of the televisionitself.
If I wanted to pitch a TV show to a TV network, the script would be immediately thrown in the
trash. This is because I am nowhere to be found in the hierarchy of the television network. The
television hierarchy makes it almost impossible for lesser known writers and producers to release
their work on popular networks. Also, newer shows do not get as much of a fighting chance as
others because these new shows must compete with other popular TV shows for the best time slots,
therefore getting less viewers, increasing the chance the network pulls the plug on new shows.

One of the important things that I learned from Demo and Fine chapter 4 and 5 is about the

rates are higher for more educated men and women compared to prior generations that are lower for
more educated individuals. About divorce, it is good to hear that the negative stigma associated with
divorce is reduced over time even though it does not seem that it has become positive in the recent
years.
Besides, I also learned that even though marriage is popular, the social norms governing marriage
have become weaker. This happens may be because there is a change from institutional to
companionate marriage and also there is a larger emphasis on marriage meeting individualistic and
self fulfilling need. People hold many expectations on marriage. People expect marriage can help ...

18. Myths Are Stories That Express Meaning, Morality Or...
Myths are stories that express meaning, morality or motivation. Whether they are true or not is
irrelevant. This was quoted by writer Michael Shermer, and it still holds today. This quote
displays that myths have the power to take the reader away from reality and launch them into a
world of mystery and phenomena. Also, even if myths have different stories and different
characters, they all in some way portray regular societal values. For example, The Fisherman and
The Jinnee , Sifrit , and Song of Roland all tell divergent stories with very diverse characters. But
by the end, they all portray the values of righteousness and how one man, or herocan rescue an
entire society.
A myth is an image of terms in which we try to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They eventually race in the woods to get drinks and when it is not suspicious, Hagen stabs Sifrit in
the weak spot with a lance. Gunther kills Hagen immediately after. Once Chriemhilde hears of what
happened, she begins to kill most of those who were involved with his murder. However, she
eventually gets killed by the Huns.
In Roland, the main hero Rollanz is a powerful, courageous, and determined hero who is
protected by ruler Charlemagne. In the 7 year war, he had to influence an army through an
ambush by himself. As the warrior he is, he fights the battle rather than calling in reinforcements.
However, this lead to the tragic death of his comrade Olivier, and most of his soldiers. Towards
the end, he blew the oil paint which hollered for help to aid the rest of his people. This decision
lead to his death, which makes him a martyr. Roland is similar to the myths of Sundiata and
Fisherman and the Jinnee because of their actions and decision making made them heroes in their
respective myths. Each of these myths have a hero either protecting their loved ones, or saving their
loved ones from danger. In Sundiata, the griot is illustrated as brave, due to his willingness to slay
enemies left and right, while disregarding his own safety in battle, much like Rollanz. However, in
the Fisherman and the Jinnee, the main fisherman does not use violence but instead he uses his
genius intellect to take himself out of tough situations. This shows that these

19. Classic Vampirism and Recent Changes
CLASSIC VAMPIRISM AND RECENT CHANGES
Change often occurs due to the simple nature of time. What once stood as a finite and steadfast
definition will shift and evolve. Genres bleed into one another and mix mythologies. The realm
of the supernatural in literature does not lie outside this trend. Wizards no longer call
themselves Merlin and spend their days under the patronage of a heroic king; the average wizard
now goes by common names like Harry or Ron and attends school, saving the world on the side.
Cyclops presently means a man with laser eyes who wears leather and fights crime, not a one eyed
island beast. Vampirism does not escape such change. No longer can one consistently find a vampire
to be the bloodthirsty life sucking demon of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Control of animals: Power extends over many creatures, including insects, rats, fleas, and bats.
Eternal life: Varies in length; not all vampires are immortal.
Scale walls: Vampires are as nimble as spiders.
Transformation: Vampires can turn into bats, cats, dogs, wolves, butterflies, insects, rats, birds,
fleas, mice, and locusts.
Drain life force or psychic energy: An attribute of the psychic vampire. (Bunson 212)
The varied and numerous strengths of the traditional vampire serve to aid them in feeding on and
attacking humans. The supernatural qualities of the vampire s abilities only further the distinction
of vampires as inhuman. Weaknesses and methods of destroying a vampire are likewise listed:
Common Methods:
Staking: The most commonly used method in the world.
Beheading: Avoid splattering of blood.
Sunlight: Some aged and powerful vampires are immune.
Cremation: Found throughout the world; scatter the ashes.
Piercing with a sword: A blessed sword should be used.
Immersing in water: A bathtub can be used, but body disposal may prove a problem.
Drenching in garlic and holy water: Large amounts have to be hauled to the gravesite to assure a
clean kill; oil, wine, or vinegar can also be used.
Touching with a crucifix: Destroys a young vampire but is normally used only as a repellent.
Trapping in the grave: Iron bits, red peas, rice (for Chinese species), roses, garlic, stones, and holy
water can be used. Extracting

21. Analysis Of Pin Ups In Public Space
Dr. Lauren Rosewarne is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the
University of Melbourne. Her Article Pin ups in Public Space is an academic piece about the
double standard of the allowance of sexist advertisements but outlawing of pin ups in the
workplace. In this essay, I will explain how Rosewarne used rhetoricand evaluate whether she was
successful in doing so. She shows the clear similarities both visually of these images but also both
of their effects on those whom have them exist in their presence. Rosewarne successfully argues her
point due to her excellent use of Ethos and Logos in her argument.
Pin ups in Public Space is an article written not to change legislature but to change readers
perspectives. Rosewarne shows that pin ups and advertisements both share the same qualities but
are each treated differently causing an alarming double standard. They cause the same effect, a
male dominated space. Rosewarne cites numerous credible sources throughout her writing as well
as uses plain logic to prove her point. In doing so she utilizes rhetoric by using ethos and logos.
Ethos is used through her proving credibility and Logos through her using logic and proving
connections. Rosewarne does seem to lack Pathos in her writing, perhaps due to the setting her
writing exists in. Emotion is typically not needed in academic literature, and as she is writing in an
academic setting, it makes sense that her use of rhetoric avoids Pathos, or emotional appeal.
Rosewarne begins with the definition of sexual harassment according to the Human Rights and
Equal Opportunity Commission, uninvited touching; uninvited kisses or embraces; smutty jokes
or comments; making promises or threats in return for sexual favors; displays of sexually
graphic material including posters, pin ups, cartoons, graffiti or messages left on notice boards,
desks or common areas; repeated invitations to go out after prior refusal . Then after, in
Rosewarne s introduction we can immediately see her use of Ethos in her citing of Tom Reichert
and quoting of Bob Garfield, [t]here is scarcely a category in all of advertising...that hasn t invoked

Behaviorism application to early childhood, the behavioral approach and consistent
misunderstanding and devaluation exists among many professional in the early childhood field. In
this paper, it will discuss the important figures in developing behaviorism, the principal elements of
the theory and relevant periods of development through adolescence. In addition, it will identify and
describe the critical features of the behavioral approach and their similarities to early childhood and
the strength and weaknesses of behaviorism. Finally, the paper will provide examples of the
influence and application of the behavioral perspective in early childhood. In the conclusion of this
paper, we assert that behaviorism is the most pragmatic and functional of the modern psychological
ideologies and described both development and learning. The three theorists: Ivan Pavlov, John
Watson, B.F. Skinner summarizes the behaviorist theory in different ways and in this paper; it will
provide details of the theorist definition of behaviorism.

23. Causes of Global Warming
Many businesses, industrial factories, and vehicles produce massive amounts of natural gases that
affect the world in many ways. These gas particles that move rapidly and constantly collide with the
atmosphere. This causes the air on Earth to contain higher kinetic energy due to the fact that more
gas particles from the natural gases are colliding with the air particles. The higher kinetic energy
results in higher temperature and heating of Earths surface. The heating of the Earth s surface
causes many of the world problems that we have today. As more and more factories and industries
produce gases that pollute the world, they also increase the effects of global warming. Gasparticles
from these natural gases move rapidly throughout the atmosphere. Since these gases are still near
the surface of the Earth, these gas particles collide much more and become more rapid creating
more kinetic energy. If there is more kinetic energy in these gas particles, there is an increase in
temperature. Around the world there are so many products and resources that require the release of
gases. These gases, once released, increase the temperature in the atmosphere to be able to melt the
ice at the north and south poles. The gas particles are able to spread out throughout the Earth s
atmosphere to trap the heat which increases the temperature of the Earth s surface allowing the ice
to melt.

Mary Wollstonecraft was born on April 27, 1759, in Spitalfields, London. Her father was
abusive, and her mother later died in 1780. She wasn t formally educated; however, her level of
education wasn t unheard of for a woman of her time, and she studied famous works of literature
and the Bible. As a very accomplished woman, she wrote many books, such of which promoted
many controversial ideas for woman s rights that persist in society to this day.
In her early life, Mary had moved from place in Britain, due to her father s unsuccessful attempts
to become a noble farmer. Doing so he squandered much of his inheritance and wealth. Her father

27. The Catholic Church Should Accept That Gay Marriage
The Catholic Church should accept that gay marriage is morally acceptable and doesn t
contradict their beliefs. Gay marriage has been a topic of controversy ever since the 1970 s. May
of 1970 to be exact. Around This time two men named Richard John Jack Baker and James
Michael McConnell in Minnesota applied to Hennepin County District Court clerk Gerald Nelson
for a marriagelicense. They were denied because they both were men. This issue of two people
of the same sex getting married is still a topic of debate to a lot of people even after the U.S.
Supreme court made gay marriage legal in all 50 states in 20151. The Catholic Church teaches to
treat homosexuals with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. That every act of hate, violence, and
persecution toward them is condemned. The Church doesn t view homosexuals no poorly than
they do everyone else but it is their views on marriage that are in question. They believe that all
sexual activity outside of marriage as a sin and an immoral act. So, if we restrict marriage from
homosexuals then if they are in a sexual relationship with another they are in turn an immoral
person. Therefore, the Catholic Church should view gay marriage the same as heterosexual
marriage, with reverence and sanctity. Marriage, also known as the matrimonial covenant, is to
establish a partnership between a man and a woman for the entirety of their lives and which is
ordered by its nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation

28. Analysis of the Old Romanticism Genre through Izzy,...
When we think of romance novels, one s first thought might be of the kind we see at the newsstand
while waiting to check out at the grocery store. Visions of a white knight like Fabio whisking away
the fair damsel in distress. Romance novels for the young adult are appealing because many
romantic symbols relate directly to what they re experiencing both physically and emotionally in
their lives; that of youthfulness and hope.
The protagonist of Izzy, Willy Nilly is Isobel Lingard, a/k/a Izzy; a 15 year old sophomore, who
is a popular girl at school. When asked out by a senior, Marco Griggers, she becomes the envy of
her friends. The ironic thing is that she wasn t even that interested in him, personally. It was more

Another example of the visions Izzy had through her alternate little Izzy was when she came
home from the hospital and was trying to develop some type of routine. Learning how to adjust

floor. She looked like a bad imitation of the dying swan, her leg and a half stuck out and her head
bowed down. Little Izzy put her hands over her face, wanting to disappear into the gray darkness
of depression that was swallowing her alive.
Romance literature for young adults uses the characteristic of exaggeration to express a variety
of emotions to its reader. This normally is accomplished in a fast paced plot, where the
characters are few and the narrative events and language flow quickly while still presenting
dramatic images. In Izzy, Willy Nilly, all of the different incidents with Izzy s girlfriends and the
townspeople help to portray how society has a tendency to only look at things from a superficial
view. Izzy originally thinks the same way when Rosamunde first enters her life. Rosamunde is
different than anyone Izzy has ever known. She isn t very pretty; she doesn t dress well at all; she
is also very outspoken and opinionated about everything. At first, this difference is a barrier

THE MANAGEMENT THEORY JUNGLE
The purpose of this article is to identify the various schools of management theory, indicate the
source of the differences, and to provide some suggestions for disentangling the management theory

1. The Management Process School
The management process school views management as a process of getting things done with people
working in organized groups. Fathered by Henri Fayol, this school views management theory as a
way of organizing experience for practice, research and teaching. It begins by defining the functions
of management.
2. The Empirical School

4. Willingness to Distill and Test Fundamentals
Criteria to Remember in Clarifying Management Theory
1. Management theory should deal with a manageable area of knowledge and inquiry.
2. Management theory should be useful in improving practice.
3. Management theory should not be lost in semantics, jargon not understandable to the practitioner.
4. Management theory should provide direction and efficiency to research and teaching.
5. Management theory must recognize that it is a part of a larger universe of knowledge and theory.
Koontz clarified the jungle like nature of management theory, first in the
Journal of the Academy of Management, then in Harvard Business Review.^
Business Week magazine noted it for the executive reader. Waino Suojauen,

describing the political and economic climates that Mexicans exist in and must deal with. The
use of narration is different in several ways as well. In Amelie, the narration is very descriptive,

role of a sage who guides Amelie in her pursuit of love. Another character who plays only one role

Unlike the characters of Amelie, those in Y Tu Mama Tambien are realistic and complex, so much
so that the film can be considered to be a character study. A character that is especially complex is
Luisa. From the very beginning she had been hiding her true feelings and intentions from the boys,
both in regard to how she had plans to sleep with them and in how she hides her sadness over her
husband s infidelity and, as the viewer finds out at the end of the film, the cancer that will kill her
very soon. Of course, Julio and Tenoch are also very complex, and they mature together through the
adventure with Luisa. They start out being boastful about their sexual exploits while rather sexually
inexperienced, and, through both conversation in the car rides and sexual encounters with Luisa,
begin to learn more about sex, themselves, and each other. Unfortunately, while they allowed for
personal development, the experiences the two went through together ended up destroying their
relationship.

Methodology
This section contains the mathematical background and stepwise procedure for EnKF algorithm,
KL expansion and ANN based proxy model. Integration of proxy model with EnKF algorithms for
time efficient assisted history matching is also explained in this section. Ensemble Kalman Filter
Algorithm
EnKF is a Monte Carlo data assimilation method, which has gained popularity over recent years
for assisted history matching due to its ability to include available observations sequentially in
time. Aanonsen et al. (2009) reviewed the application of EnKF in reservoir engineering for
estimation of reservoir parameters. EnKF procedure utilizes an ensemble of model states (e.g.
realizations of reservoir properties such as porosity and permeability) to estimate the covariance
matrices used in model updating process. Initial ensemble is generated based on the prior
knowledge of the reservoir derived from various sources as well logs, core and seismic analysis. In
general, simulation techniques such as Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS) and Sequential
Indicator Simulation (SIS) are used to generate multiple realizations. These realizations are
consistent with the initial state of the reservoir. In the next step, all the reservoir models in
ensemble are forwarded typically using the numerical reservoir simulation. Mean and covariance of
predicted model states is calculated and used in turn to calculate Kalman gain. Next, in the update
(or analysis) step, each geological

35. Colonial Rule Of Independence And Independence
At independence, all states have the option to retain or abolish appeal to the JCPC. Assuming that
a colony s goal at independence is to free itself from the colonial power s control, why would a
state decide to retain a colonial institution that is an important to the POGG of an independent
state? I posit that states desire a final appellate court that is likely to uphold and legitimize the
policies of the nation s governing elite. The length and type of colonial rule influence the national
governing elite s decision about the final appellate court at independence. Some states that retain
the right of appealto an extraterritorial court at independence later abolish the right, while others
continue to allow appeals to this extraterritorial court. This mutability raises two additional
questions. First, why do we see variations in the length of time some states retained those ties
after independence? Second, why do some states ultimately decide to abolish appeals to the JCPC
and establish a domestic ultimate appeals court? I posit that states that retain appeals to the JCPC
at independence may later decide to abolish appeals if they perceive a divergence between the
state s policies and the JCPC that reduces the likelihood that the JCPC will uphold and legitimize
the state s policies. A disconnect between the decisions of the JCPC and the state s policies may
emerge over time, leading the governing national coalition to take steps to abolish that right of
appeal.

The second principle was established in the case of Foss v Harbuttle . The rule being stated by

An individual shareholder has no absolute right to seek redress for a wrong purportedly committed

The concept of how to encourage all students to gain fully from the education system has always
been a personal philosophy of mine and since gaining at least a C grade in maths has become a
given, for most employment and further education, I wanted to research how mentoring
intervention could assist in this goal.
Mentoring
Mentoring is an initiative that has been found effective and transferable from business to education
(Wallace, Montgomery and Pomerantz, 2010), indeed Linney (1999) suggested that mentoring is a
very popular tool in various contexts and fields. In the field of education, Daloz (1987) felt that
teachers and mentors played a vital role in allowing students to gain confidence, insight and passion
to progress in their academic lives.
In the United Kingdom mentoring for young people in education has increased significantly since
the early 1990 s (Rose and Doveston, 2008) this in turn has possibly led policy makers to adopt
this educational tool as an intervention with socially excluded young people in schools (Colley,

followed and they include; as much as there is advancement in the manufacturing and employment,
there is need to invest and develop infrastructure of the third world countries who are still in the
process of developing. This will ensure that the gross domestic product of the country (third world
countries) will double by 2030.
Such improvements include sustainable transport system which will create more job opportunities
and the boosting of the economic development (Griggs, D et.al. 2013). Manufacturing as a key
factor in economic development, helps in creation of employment and social stability. Due to the
technological advancements, countries have adapted a more efficient and less energy consuming
industries. This has greatly reduced the amount of carbon dioxide gas been released to the air by
old manufacturing companies hence leading to global warming and a significant share in the global
manufacturers.
There have been a lot of researchers coming up with the aim of investing in the research and
development. Recently, manufacturing has upgraded to a more technological complex product.
The medium and the high technological products achieve always been nominated the
manufacturing production in the industrialized economy. The invention of mobile phone has made
it possible for the people who

40. Education Is The Most Important Aspect Of Life
Philosophers say that life is one unending lesson, that the absorption of knowledge never ends.
This motto is superbly represented in all of the pieces that Ms. Frankenberg s Composition class
has read, watched, or listened to. Whether this education has been obvious or not, through a
classroom or another medium, it is usually delivered in lessons that are meant to last a lifetime. By
dissecting all of the aspects that can be taken from these educational situations, the credit goes to
those who taught them, and it is to those individuals whom we should give credit for the lesson.
These lessons are great additions to their legacy resume , or the unofficial track of a person s
accomplishments throughout their lifetime. It is in this way that legacy can be discovered, even if
legacy means something different to each individual.
Education is the most important aspect of life; parents teach their children, teachers educate their
students, employers train their employees, and even the President of the United States is educated
on important details by his advisors. Education does not just mean a school and a professor, it means
any learning at anytime and anywhere. This reason is exactly why education is one of the most
crucial parts of any legacy. Education is universal, without it no one would even know what a
legacy is, much less retain the intelligence to create a legacy of their own. Throughout the years
knowledge has improved, more people made names for themselves in their

41. Ritalin And Adderall Aka ADHD Analysis
I was born with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD for short, but in all honesty, I
wasn t that self aware of anything being wrong. Trouble began early in school, teachers who
called me out were just dicks in my mind who didn t get my sense of humor. If you were born
color blind you may know something s different, but unless you re told something was wrong, you
d have no idea that you couldn t see red. That s how I felt in elementary school, being hyper and
distracted was just me. Granted I was a little too much sometimes, but I really didn t know why I
was being singled out all the time. The problem was, I was hyper all the time. At home and
school, it was very hard for me to calm myself down and mirror the behavior of everyone... Show

I am blessed that I live in a time where treatment is available. There hasn t been enough time to
work out every kink in every medication and some have fairly substantial side effects. The most
common medications available are Ritalin and Adderall aka Addy if you re in the hood or my
roommate. I have taken both, but the one I found worked the best was Ritalin. The main reason
I didn t take Adderall was because it gave me migraines. Though it makes me focus it does have
side effects that can be hard to deal with. The biggest problems for me is loss of appetite and
sleep disturbance. These are side effects that are inevitable, the bottle may say you can get
headaches or dry mouth, but these pills will undoubtedly keep you up and no desire to eat.
People who have a hard time losing weight will sometimes take these to make them not want to
eat. I was able to get over that problem, but the sleep disturbance is something that can be a pain.
If I take the medication past 5 6, it will keep me wide awake until around 4 5 in the morning. It
works better than a 5 hour energy drink that s for sure. However, every medication will work on
a person in a different way, for instance when I tried using Strattera a new medication, it made me
very irritable and angry. The reason I tried Strattera was to avoid running into building a
tolerance to Ritalin. The problem with these treatments is that after using it for a long time, your
body starts to get used it and it no longer works. Both Ritalin and Adderall are currently labeled
as a Schedule 2 (II) drug under the FDA this means the drug may lead to abuse or physical
dependence. Many people with ADHD run into this problem where they need a significant amount
to get the same result. When I started, I was taking 10 mg, now however I need 40mg which is the
highest amount available to have the

42. The Battle Of Nazi Dictator Adolf Hitler Essay
On February 27 of 2014, masked Russian troops without insignia infiltrated in south Ukraine and
captured strategic sites across Crimea, a rugged peninsula that strategically juts in the Black Sea.
Within a few days Crimea was under Russian control and by July 2015 Crimea was formally
integrated into Russia. The whole episode drew international consternation against Russia, which
resulted in successive rounds of economic sanctions. A few days after the annexation, Ms. Clinton
likened the move to the actions of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler(Rucker, 2014), a sentiment that was
quickly adopted by the media; for example, on March 2, 2014 Bloomberg published an article
entitled, In Ukraine, Echoes of the Anschluss (Bershidsky, 2014) and a few days later, on March
7, 2014, BBC published an article entitled, Crimea seen as Hitler style land grab (Kralova, 2014).
This is a very grave accusation and, given that the USA and Russia collectively hold 90% of all
nuclear weapons, prudence is in order.
Therefore, in this essay I purpose to assess the validity of the claim by using the Ladder of
Inference, a reasoning method likened to a ladder as it is a step by step process that helps us
draw better conclusions from true facts and reality. (Mind Tools). We can use this method in any of
three ways; reflection (becoming aware of our own thinking), advocacy (making our thinking
visible to others), and inquiry (inquiry into other s thinking). (Ross, n.d.) For this essay, I ll depend

43. History of the Faa
Aviation Legislation Term Paper
The Federal Aviation Act of 1958
ASCI 254 12/09/14
It has always been the dream of mankind wanting to join the birds in the sky, many innovators
created various contraptions to achieve flight. On December 17, 1903, two brothers by the name
of Wilbur and Orville Wright decided to test their contraption and it was successful. This event
changed the course of aviation as the contraption known as Flyer 1 became the first successful
powered heavier than air flight.
During the course of World War I, airplanes proved to be a useful tool for the military. With the
introduction of airmail planes were now utilized for commercial purposes. The Air Mail Act of
1925 gave birth to the airlines and passenger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A total of 128 people died and was the first crash to have more than 100 deaths. To better
understand what happened, it is helpful to look at how ATC had done things at the time. ATC had
only provided separation to aircrafts under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and not aircrafts under
Visual Flight Rules (VFR). Also the separation of aircraft was limited to controlled airspace.
(Lawrence, pg186) Although both planes took off with an IFR flight plan, when they leave the
controlled airspace they must not use the see and avoid technique which is still a common practice
today. Both aircrafts were in an area of clear weather with little build up and in uncontrolled
airspace. This means that they were to apply the see and avoid technique, neither did. The Crash
Investigation panel suggested that the towering cumulus might have obscured the aircraft from
each other. (Lawrence, pg187)
There still was the problem of the military and civilians using the airspace under different sets of
rules. In 1957, a DC 7 with a crew of four and no passengers had a mid air collision with an Air
Force F 89 with a crew of two. Both airplanes were on test flights. The tragedy was actually when
the airplanes collided; the debris fell onto the occupied school ground of Pacoima Junior High.
Three boys were killed and 71 injured. It took two more midair collision between a military jet and

44. Percival Bartlebooth Is An English Millionaire
Percival Bartlebooth is an English millionaire who realizes as a young man that his wealth has
doomed him to a life of boredom. He decides to study watercolor with Serge Valene for 10 years,
although he has no talent for painting. Accompanied by a servant, he sets out on a 20 year voyage
around the world with the intention of painting watercolors of 500 different harbors. The entire
book is constructed like a jigsaw puzzle. Perec uses an apartmentbuilding in Paris as the
background and writes 99 short chapters, in addition to a preamble that is repeated twice, and an
epilogue, to detail each room as well as the lives of all the buildings residents, past and present.
When he finishes a painting, he sends it to a man who also lives in the apartment building,
Gaspard Winckler. He is a puzzle maker who Bartlebooth hires to turn the paintings into 750
piece puzzles. When Bartlebooth returns from his travels he puts the puzzles back together in
chronological order. The painting is then sent to the place where it was originally painted. There
it is dipped into chemicals that eliminate every trace of the painting. However, Winckler made
the puzzles too difficult, and Bartlebooth does not live long enough to finish all 500. As Perec
writes in the last paragraph of the 99th chapter: The black hole of the sole piece not yet filled in
has the almost perfect shape of an X. But the ironical thing, which could have been foreseen long
ago, is that the piece the dead man holds between
