The document provides an introduction to web services. It defines a web service as a piece of software that makes itself available over the internet using standardized XML messaging. Web services communicate using open protocols and can be published, discovered, and used by other applications. The document outlines that web services are application components that are self-contained, self-describing, and use HTTP and XML as the basis for communication. It also notes that web services take web applications to the next level by allowing different platforms to interact in a way that earlier web applications could not due to interoperability issues.
This document provides an overview of the web development skills and tools included in the author's portfolio. It describes HTML as the language that defines the structure of web pages using tags, CSS as the language used to describe page presentation and styles, JavaScript as an essential programming language for interactive web pages, and Bootstrap as a popular front-end framework for designing responsive websites and applications. Screenshots of the author's portfolio are also included.

Web services allow applications to communicate over the internet through standardized XML messaging. They provide benefits like interoperability between platforms, code reuse, and cost savings. The basic web services platform uses XML and HTTP. It includes SOAP for exchanging messages, UDDI for discovering services, and WSDL for describing a service's interface. SOAP messages are XML envelopes transmitted over HTTP that can be used to invoke operations on remote systems.
This document provides an overview of fundamental web design concepts for digital humanities. It describes how the internet works using hardware, protocols like HTTP and TCP/IP, and the domain name system. It then explains what HTML is, including markup tags for formatting text and inserting images and links. It also covers DOCTYPE declarations and character sets. Finally, it discusses how the document object model (DOM) and browser object model (BOM) allow manipulation of pages and browsers, and how cascading style sheets (CSS) separate structure and presentation.
This document discusses improving how library data is linked on the web. It proposes three strategies: [1] using proxy resource URIs to provide a stable URI for each concept or name across institutions; [2] caching concept resource URIs and data from major sources to add stability; and [3] strengthening the meaning of concepts by applying these approaches to various library systems and resources. The goal is to better connect related resources across different libraries and sites.
HTML5 is the foundational technology for the open web platform, which provides a comprehensive framework for rich, interactive content across different devices and applications. The open web platform separates content from presentation using HTML5, CSS, and other standards to define consistent markup while allowing for styling with CSS. EPUB is based on the open web platform and uses HTML5 and other standards to enable features like packaging, metadata, offline use, and accessibility for digital publications. The open web platform provides value for publishers by supporting heterogeneous content at scale, interchange between disparate systems, and both online and offline consumption.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is the code that styles web content. With CSS, you can control the color, font, the size of text, the spacing between elements, how elements are positioned and laid out, what background images or background colors are to be used, different displays for different devices and screen sizes, and much more!.

DRY CSS - Theries, methods and tools for efficient and scalable Stylesheets. A talk given at WordCamp NYC 2012.
The value of keeping all code D.R.Y (Don't Repeat Yourself) is universally accepted and demanded in the world of programming, but when it comes to CSS we've all learned to compromise and live in a wet mess. We don't have to! This talk will go over how you can use thematic and structural CSS definitions to cut down on wasted code, simplify maintenance and unify your site styles just by DRYing out your standard CSS. I'll explain how tools like Firebug enable a whole new way of understanding complex style interrelationships and give examples of the particular patterns that let me cut one stylesheet from ~4200 to ~2400 lines without losing anything but wasted code! We'll also cover how preprocessors like LESS and SASS can take your DRY CSS even farther by actually programming your styles as if they were made of PHP.

Comparative analysis between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquapon...bijceesjournal
The aquaponic system of planting is a method that does not require soil usage. It is a method that only needs water, fish, lava rocks (a substitute for soil), and plants. Aquaponic systems are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Its use not only helps to plant in small spaces but also helps reduce artificial chemical use and minimizes excess water use, as aquaponics consumes 90% less water than soil-based gardening. The study applied a descriptive and experimental design to assess and compare conventional and reconstructed aquaponic methods for reproducing tomatoes. The researchers created an observation checklist to determine the significant factors of the study. The study aims to determine the significant difference between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquaponics systems propagating tomatoes in terms of height, weight, girth, and number of fruits. The reconstructed aquaponics system’s higher growth yield results in a much more nourished crop than the traditional aquaponics system.
