Week2 Individual Paper Bsa 310 (Kudler Fine Foods) 92%
Kudler s Fine Foods
This paper will discuss how an information system is critical to the business process of an
organization and how the information has impacted the organization s structure.
Company Overview
Kudler s Fine Foods has been in business for over 15 years. Staying in business in this economy is
impressive. Kudler s has done everything necessary to grow and continue to be a productive
company in the last 15 years. The products and merchandise that Kudler s sells are perishable food
and wine products that continually need to be monitored and inventoried to make sure that the
product is always fresh. Kudler s stakeholders are the staff, customers, suppliers, banks and the
owner herself.

It advises that when a decision is made, it affects many.
Kudler s has staff, students, experts working at all three stores all performing the same tasks.
The company has stated While the work environment is not stressful, whenever someone quits or
is fired, the whole store has to pick up the effort while a new person is hired and trained. With
the new system if someone quits or is fired, it will not affect the business in the same way,
training will be minimal as the system does the majority of the work. If someone is fired or quits,
it might be in the company s best interest not to fill the vacant position as the system does the
majority of the work.
Regarding Kudler s customers, the company states Clerks are encouraged to keep track of
comments or requests, and share them with Kathy when she comes into the store. If a customer
requests a product, we see if it is feasible for us to stock that item. If we can t, we offer to special
order it. We take complaints about product or service very seriously and try to address any and all
problems quickly. The system will be able to track this information and notify the customer when
the product has arrived via text message or email.
Opportunities
By implementing such a system opportunities are vast. Kudler s will have more time to spend with
their customers, they will

The Industrial Revolution Was An Innovative Period For...
The Industrial Revolution was an innovative period for entrepreneurs and inventors, in which many
monumental technologies were introduced. However, many of those of the factory workers
suffered from the social and economic conditions that resulted from the revolution in the 19th and
20th centuries. Some social conditions were that working women increasingly took up the
workforce in textile factories as a way to earn money, but they also faced abuse from men and the
harsh working conditions. Furthermore, manufacturers wanted to increase their profits by ensuring
that the maximum amount of work could be done in a day, thus they increased the working shifts.
The want to increase profits was an economic condition that factoryworkers had to... Show more

Although most females workers were older than 20, a social condition was strongly indicated
that child labor was very much existent during the 19th and early 20th centuries as a way to
provide for themselves and their families. E. Patricia Tsurumi also provided the genders and ages
in the silk factories, but in Nagano Japan. In Nagano, female workers from ages 15 to 20 took up
the majority of the workforce. Despite the varied numbers of female workers, both Coleman and
Tsurumi presented information that females were mainly employed in textile factories. On the
other hand, Harriet Hanson Robinson provided a closer perspective in a former female factory
worker s experience. Robinson, the female factory worker, wrote about how females in the
cotton factory had to endure abusive working conditions and the reduced wages in Lowell.
Robinson held a specific opinion upon the working conditions as the greatest hardship in the lives
of children and that the reduced wages were unfair social conditions, because she was once a
factory girl. A factory girl was considered to be the lowest among the employments of women; as a
result, Robison may have endured much of the hardships and cruel treatment in the factories at a
very young age.
It was a common social condition among many factory workers that they had to withstand the long
hours, such as described in documents 3, 4, and 5. In Okaya, Japan, an average workday was 13 to
14 hours long with

Essay Informative Speech About Tattoos
It seems like everyone has one these days. What used to be the property of sailors, outlaws, and
biker gangs is now a popular body decoration for many people. And it s not just anchors, skulls, and
battleships anymore, from school emblems to Celtic designs to personalized symbols; people have
found many ways to express themselves with them. Maybe you ve thought about getting one. Well
before you head down to the nearest tattooshop and roll up your sleeve, there are a few things you
need to know.
So You Ask, What Exactly is a Tattoo? A tattoo is a puncture wound, made deep in your skin, that
s filled with ink. The tattoo is made by penetrating your skin with a needle and injecting ink into
the area creating some sort of design of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it looks a lot cooler than a big scab, a new tattoo is also a wound and like any other
scrape, puncture, cut or penetration to your skin, a tattoo is at risk for infections and disease.
You need to make sure you are up to date with your immunizations (especially hepatitis and
tetanus shots) and plan where you will get medical care if your new tattoo does become
infected. Signs of infection include excessive redness or tenderness, prolonged bleeding, pus, or
changes in your skin color around the tattoo. If you have a medical problem such as heart
disease, allergies, diabetes, skin disorders or any condition that affects your immune system or are
prone to infections, you should ask your doctor before deciding to get a tattoo. Also, if you are
prone to getting keloids (an overgrowth of scar tissue in the area of the wound), it s probably best
to avoid getting a tattoo altogether.
Avoiding Infection It s very important to make sure the tattoo studio is clean and safe, and that all
equipment is disposable (needles, gloves, masks, etc.) and that everything is sterilized. You can call
your state, county, or local health department to ask for recommendations on licensed tattoo shops,
or to ask about any complaints about a particular studio.
Professional studios take pride in their cleanliness; here are a few things to check for:
Make sure the studio has an autoclave which is a device that

Example Of A Worldview Essay
A worldview is a set of basic beliefs about the nature of reality. It affects the way a person
behaves and responds to different circumstances. When young, our worldview is influenced by
parents, who tell us what is right and wrong. However, as we grew up, our life experiences come
to shape worldviews that we hold as adults. As scientists, our worldviews matter a great deal.
Whether theist or atheist, it is critical to know what we consider to be our responsibility towards
everyone and everything around us. In this paper, I talk about views of a number of scientists about
Godand creation and the impact of these beliefs on their approach to science. In addition, we will
look at different natural phenomena and what they tell us about the Intelligence design behind
them. I will also discuss the effects of human actions on the environment and what can be done to
keep it clean.
Isaac Newton is one of the most prominent scientists in recent times. He is known for his
contribution on understanding gravity, and he contributed a lot in calculus. Many thinkers and
scientists of his time tried to explain everything using science excluding the role of God in their
explanation. Unlike them, Newton was a strong religious person. He believed in a personal God
but rejected the idea of the Holy Trinity. He did not believe that God and Christ were... Show more

Whole Foods started in 1980 when it s CEO, John Mackey merged his store, SaferWay, with a
competitor, Clarksville Natural Grocery. Since then, Whole Foods has expanded to 275 locations in

The company which sells only pure and unaltered products achieves this by promoting its own
house brand such as Whole Catch, Whole Creamery and 365 Everyday Value label as a
substitute for processed food (Conway, 2007). For example, Oreos is replaced by 365 Everyday
Value label s organic cookies and cream sandwich. In addition, Whole Foods purchases its salmons
from an on site salmon buyer in Alaska who has long standing relationships with non commercial
fishermen. This supply line ensures that the wild caught salmon is available for sale within 48
hours, guaranteeing its freshness and quality (MIT Sloan Management, 2010).
Whole Foods s next primary activity will be its operations which is all activities including facility
operations associated with transforming inputs into final outputs. (Dess et al, 2012). This can be
seen from the empowerment of store managers who are allowed to stock up 10% of the store with
products they feel is suitable for the local community. Through this, Whole Foods is able to cater to
the unique taste of the community they are based in as well as decentralizing the company as a
whole. The passionate and knowledgeable employees of Whole Foods contribute by affecting the
customers with enthusiasm, making their shopping experience fun and exciting, increasing the
chance of repeat customers, generating more revenue (MIT Sloan Management, 2010). In addition,

The Camp Monster
Bill come on time to go! Tom s mom screamed. Every summer Tom has to go to summer camp.
His parents are traveling all the time because of work. Tom really doesn t like to go, he s not the
athletic type. Tom does not have a lot of friends and keeps to himself. As Tom walks down the
stairs to the car he feels a little overwhelmed. Tom has gone to the camp three summers in a row
and feels weirded out when he s near the woods. The camp counselors don t like it when kids go to
the woods by themselves, apparently kids have disappeared but the counselors don t talk about it
too much.
The car ride there is long. To get there you have to go far from town. You could see huge trees
swaying back and forth as you pass by, it s a little creepy. Bill arrived to the eerie camp, he saw all
the kids with their parents trying to check in and get to know the grounds. The car came to a
stop and Bill and his mom got out the car. It was a long ride there so it took Bill a minute to
stretch out. Bill and his mom walk up to the front desk, there was a young man at the desk
looked like he was not in a good mood. The man began to speak Hello and welcome to camp, do
you need a room? the man said angrily. Um yes please. Bill s mom said, but Bill zoend out the rest
of the conversation. Bill I have to go now, Bill s mom said I love you and please don t get in

Chosen Chapter Summary
Captain Keith Mallory, the main character of the book is introduced. Chosen by Captain Jensen,
he is to lead a sabotage mission into the fortress on the island of Navarone, occupied by Germans,
and destroy the two guns in it, the guns of Navarone. The guns need to be destroyed so that ships
can evacuate the island of Kheros, which is close to Navarone. Because of the guns, the navy
vessels are unable to approach Kheros without taking heavy casualties. Numerous attacks on
Navarone have been unsuccessful and the sabotage mission is the last option to destroy the guns.
The plan is for Malloryand his team of specialists, introduced later in the book, to enter the island
of Navarone from the South side. The South side of Navarone is one great cliff,... Show more

Once the group arrives at the Navy base in Castelrosso, Mallory shows the plan of action to the
rest of the group. While discussing the plans, they apprehend a spy, the laundry boy, who is to
be imprisoned until the operation is over. A few hours later the team sets off again, this time on a
torpedo boat. At the next stop, they switch their torpedo boat to an old caique. On the way to
Navarone they encounter a German patrol boat. Thy are forced to attack the ship and sink it to
prevent being caught with a cargo of explosives and an arsenal of weapons. Their boat also has
engine trouble, and they decide to dock at a nearby island. When they get to the island, they realize
that there is a German watchtower on it. A German sentry from the watchtowercomes out to inspect
their ship, but turns back without further inspection when Mallory shows him forged papers and
letters of authority supposedly from a German general. Later, the Germans are somehow tipped off
about the mission, and Andrea sneaks into the watchtower. The others distract the guards, and
Andrea apprehends them and locks them in the basement of the tower. They fix the engine and set
off toward Navarone

Words To Describe Louisiana
How do you describe Louisiana? That is a hard one because Louisiana is like no other state.
Louisiana became a state on April 30, 1812. Louisiana is 51,843 square miles. The state is divided
into north and south Louisiana, but throughout the state the culture is the same. The religion,
music, people, areas, food, and language are all very unique to Louisiana.
Within Louisiana there are several different religions. Many people from Louisiana are descendants
of Europeans and practice Catholicism (Louisiana Creole Culture). According to a study done in
2010, the top five denominations of religion in Louisiana in this order are: Catholic, Southern
Baptist, non denomination, United Methodist, and National Baptist convention(Louisiana Religion
Statistics). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anytime you go to someone s house they will fix you some kind of food. Both Creole and Cajun
cooking developed in Southern Louisiana but popular in Northern Louisiana too. According to
the article Ducote wrote, Creole cooking is city food and Cajun cooking is country food. Both
styles use fresh local food, but the preparation is different. Cajun and Creole cuisine is popular
throughout to the State of Louisiana. Cajun cooking tends to be more robust and has more spice
to it. A lot of Cajuns live off the land and use the natural resources they have in order to survive.
They live in the bayou and swamps were fish, shellfish, and wild game are all over the place. The
Cajuns did not try to replicate European dishes since they did not have access to the exotic
spices and other hard to find ingredients that made up the more complex European dishes. Cajun
food was shaped by were they settled. Cajun cooking is simple and most of the dishes can be
cooked all in one pot. They had an abundance of wild game, seafood, wild vegetables and herbs
in order to make their dishes. Creole cuisine comes from French, Spanish, African, Native
American, and Caribbean influences (Louisiana Creole Culture). Creole cooking is all about
sauces and the sauces are creamy and full of favors with use of herbs and spices. Creole food
represents Louisiana s flair and imagination. Unlike the Cajuns, the Creole people were the
upper class and felt they needed to recreate European dishes in order to be happy. Creole cooking
is more complex than Cajun. Unlike Cajun cooking, Creole cooking cooks all the ingredients
separately and serves them. They were able to afford rare spices and other foods from Europe that
were not readily found in Louisiana. Creole food is always full flavored, with generous components
of butter, pepper, salt and herbs. Creole cooking uses celery, bell pepper, and onions, cooked in a
roux as a starting point for a lot of Creole dishes

Dryland Training In Swimming
Dryland training in swimming dates back to early times. Running, push ups, pull ups, common
military training techniques have been incorporated in swimming training for years. This remained
the staple for years. Resistance training began with medicine balls, progressing to dumbbells,
barbells, and many more items in the 80s as Arnold was beginning to make strength cool.
Functional movements entered the sport in the 90s, as many doubted if adding muscle benefited
swimmingand if the traditional big 3 lifts (bench press, deadlift, back squat) transferred to
swimming. In the past decade, strength training and full body resistance traininghas popped it s head
back into swimming training. Like swimming, strength and conditioning training is evolving,...

swimmers). What this article should highlight is that if you are an upper level, elite swimmer,
or simply want what is best, you need an in person strength coach. This strength coach must
understand swimming or at least listen to the swim coach about training phases, tapers, etc.
This person could also run a program written by a digital strength coach. Unfortunately, I have
not been able to get this to work properly, as it is hard to ensure what you suggest is being done
miles away. Also, many coaches don t like to be robots and dictate something they didn t write
or worse what they don t believe in, this includes swimming and strength coaches. Now, many
swim coaches will read this and think they can be the in person dryland coach, but this isn t the
case. If you want to build the best swimmers, get a certified professional. Certainly some coaches
(to give you what I think, maybe 1%) can wear these hats, but having a swim coach lead dryland is

Autism Language Disorder
Introduction The primary focus of this paper is in regards to language disorders in children with
Autism Spectrum Disorder. ASD is a developmental disorder, according to the DSM 5 diagnostic
criteria, that is characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction
across multiple contexts, as well as restricted or repetitive patterns of behaviors, interests, or
activities. This disorder is present in the early developmental period. Specifically, regarding social
interaction, a child with this diagnosis may have deficits in social emotional reciprocity, nonverbal

Assessment Language assessment is necessary for Autism Spectrum Disorder in order to identify
the areas of language that the client is struggling with, so that the most beneficial treatment plan for
their needs can be determined. Also, assessment is important because early language skills in this
population are key predictors of future language outcomes. It s imperative to consider investigating
the early stages of language and communicative development in very young children with ASD for
this reason. In regards to measuring early language skills in clients with Autism, generally this is
done by both standardized tests and parent reports such as questionnaires or interviews. Both
approaches offer valuable information about a child s linguistic skills and provide important
information to predict later language outcomes. Various types of standardized tests and parent
reports can be used to assess a child s receptive and or expressive language skills. For this reason, it
s important to understand the various options, and the impact on the results these types of tests may
have. Rhiannon J. Luyster and her colleagues (2008) examined various assessment procedures and
their influences on the outcome of the assessment. One assessment included the Mullen Scales of
Early Learning which is a test used to assess the developmental functioning of

Penny Stock Trading Essay
As you probably already know, penny stock investing is very risky. In fact, it is probably the most
dangerous investing method of all. And it is also very profitable. Nothing beats being an owner of
a stock, whose share price went from $0.12 to $22 in a few weeks. But not every penny stock
trading is the same. There are as many techniques as there are investors, though we can identify
three major strategies that are the most common. You definitely should consider choosing one of
them, and then refining it further to match your trading style.
1. Cheap Stocks On Major Stock Exchanges
By common definition the shares of penny stocks are trading below $5. There are really many
stocks like that on major stock exchanges, like the New York Stock... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
2. Stocks On Over The Counter Markets and Pink Sheets
On over the counter (OTC) markets and Pink Sheets you won t find companies that were once
big but have fallen from grace. These penny stocks are usually really small startups with a share
price below $1. There are thousands of them, and you cannot ignore the research necessary to filter
out those 95% of them which are useless. OTC penny stocks have other kinds of risks altogether.
They are extremely illiquid. Not many shares are traded daily, so if you buy a stock on an OTC
market, later you may find yourself in a position that you simply cannot sell it for profit, because
of the low volume and a large spread between the bid and the ask price. You won t be able to find a
buyer.
The other risk is that the great majority of stocks on OTC markets are really low quality, junk
stocks, and only a few of them are worth further research. Knowing how to find the good ones is
the key point.
3. Ride The Pump And Dump
This is unquestionably the most dangerous strategy. Penny stock trading gets all the bad press
primarily because of the pump and dump schemes.
Pump and dump is a very common and unethical (even criminal) activity where scammers buy up
the majority of shares of a low quality OTC penny stock, and then they promote it heavily, so that
gullible investors buy the stock too, thereby driving up the share price. When the share price has
rocketed, the fraudsters simply

Essay about The Campaign for Women’s Suffrage
The Campaign for Women s Suffrage The campaign developed at that time, as it was then the
rights of women began to improve. Though women were still thought of as second class citizens,
during the 1870 s the women s suffrage became a mass movement. Prior to 1870, there were laws
that meant that women were unable to keep any of their earnings once they married. That also
meant that all her possessions belonged to her husband as well. In 1870, the Married Women s
Property Act meant that women were allowed to keep ВЈ200 of their earnings. Women such as

Though these women worked hard, some would only make 120s, or 60 pence, a day. It was
reasons such as this that women demanded the right to vote. In 1867, The Second Reform Act
meant that 2.5 million male householders were able to vote out of a population 22 million. And
in 1884 The Third Reform Act meant that almost 5 million men were given the vote. This meant
almost two thirds of the male population. This meant that then working men were given the right
to vote, whereas women, who are in a higher class to them, still were unable to vote. Because of
the increasing number of men that were able to vote, it was thought that women should also be
able to receive the vote. 2. Describe the ways in which the methods of the suffragettes and the
suffragists were different. (15 marks) The suffragists (National Union of Women s Suffrage
Societies or NUWSS) were established in 1897. Their aim was to To promote the claim of
women to the Parliamentary vote on the same terms as it is or may be granted to men. This meant
that the suffragists did not want all women to have the vote, they only wished for women to have
equal footing to the men that already had the vote. The suffragist members were at first genteel,
well educated middle class women who were feeling frustrated. Though, later on more lower class
women joined, many of these factory workers who wanted

Comparison Of Harrison Bergeron And Harrison Bergeron
The story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and the short film 2081 directed by Chandler
Tuttle have many similarities and differences. Both the story and the short film are about a boy
named Harrison Bergeron who escaped from jail and ran off to a theater. He ended up in jail for
tearing off his handicaps in public. In their community, people have handicaps in order to be
equal in every way. In the short film, Hazel and George Bergeron, Harrison s parents, switched
roles. Harrison also put a bomb under the theater where the ballerinas were performing. Harrison
was not even wearing glasses, a red nose, he did not have bad teeth, he even had all his hair and
his eyebrows. In these stories people start to realize that the equality they ve always wanted is
dangerous and in some ways torture. In the story, Hazel and George were both sitting in their
living room and watching a ballet performance on TV. Then George gets up and goes to the
kitchen and Hazel is alone. A news report comes on the TV and it s about Harrison. The ballerina
explained that Harrison escaped jail and that people should avoid him. The ballerina stated If
you see this boy, do not I repeat do not try to reason with him. (2) In the film this scene changes
in some ways. In the film Hazel is the one going to the kitchen to wash dishes and George stays
to watch the performance. He forgets everything he sees in a matter a twenty seconds while
watching Harrison live on TV. Even though he forgets everything he still has flashbacks from
when Harrison was carried out of their house. These changes affect the story because it was from
two different point of views. In Hazel s point of view some things don t make sense in general.
Since her brain is normal, unintelligent, she forgets everything. George is smart and that is why he
has a radio transmitter in his ear that sends out noise so that he can forget things. In the film
Harrison puts a bomb under the theater where the ballerinas were performing. The bomb could
have been fake but it made the film more intense. Harrison states ... there s a bomb beneath this
theater and there s a detonator in my hand... minute 9.50 9.58. He also states I am the greatest
person man you have never known

Using Utilitarian Ethicals to Determine Right From Wrong...
Introduction
In 1975 the board of directors for a company that makes transistors were presented with an ethical
dilemma. They were the last transistor company that was selling to a pacemaker company as a
result of other companies backing out of the business due to the failure of some pacemakers
leading to deaths of some of those who used them. At the time, pacemaker technology was
extremely new and had yet to develop into the ground breaking product that it is today. The ethical
dilemma presented to the board was whether or not to continue to sell their transistor to the
company and risk the negative connotation and ultimately the loss of shareholders in the company,
associated with the deaths that occurred (Shanks, 1996). This ... Show more content on

The second issue to be analyzed counters that possible result. If the transistor company were to
continue in business then there lies the opportunity to save countless lives that could benefit
greatly due to the technology. Yes, the company is putting itself at risk, but for the result of saving
people who really need pacemakers. It is known that pacemakers have failed before, but it can be
assumed that the aforementioned pacemakers did not have this company s transistor in it or else
they most likely would ve already left the contract. That being said, there is the possibility that the
other transistors that were being used were just poorly made (Shanks, 1996). As a result of this, the
main Utilitarian issue being presented is does the company end the contract and not take the
unnecessary risk associated, or do they continue the contract and potentially save countless lives?
Bentham s Advice to the Company Jeremy Bentham defined Utilitarian ethics as we are to promote
pleasure and act to reduce pain. (Driver, 2009). Bentham defined these ethics by taking into account
an array of parameters that included intensity, certainty, proximity, fecundity, purity and the amount
of people affected by a given decision (Driver, 2009).
Analyzing these parameters, it is clear to say Bentham would give the advice of staying with the
contract. By staying with the contract, the

Why Is Anzac Day Important
Why is the Anzac Centenary important for Modern Australia?
Every year, Anzac Day is celebrated across the nation, unifying Australians regardless of their
background or place of birth to commemorate the service and sacrifice displayed by the men and
women of the Anzac Forces. The 25th of April 2015, will mark the Centenary of the Gallipoli
Campaign, and will be one of the most significant commemorations to take place of its generation.
Despite the Campaign having been deemed a disaster with a large number of casualties along with
the failure to achieve military victory, it has contributed tremendously to the development of
Australia s culture and identity. This Campaign observed the emergence of the Anzac Legend,

During the Victorian Bushfires, for example, many Australian communities were confronted with
tremendous loss and hardship. It was during these times that the Anzac Spirit was very apparent
amongst the community, with the emergence of everyday Australians surfacing as heroes.
Australian volunteers from across communities, along with official government services came
together to assist victims and to ease their suffering in providing them shelter, basic necessities, as
well as moral support. Nick Jans, a Vietnam Veteran, said the generosity shown after the bushfires
invoked the Anzac spirit, which he stated was not just a matter of the armed forces but deeply
embedded in the Australian psyche 4. It is through the influence of Anzac Legend that has inspired
Australians to recapture the Anzac spirit, engraining the attributes displayed by them to their very
own thinking process. Through such times, the significance of the Anzac Legend and its strong
links and influence to the Australian community are clear. Therefore, the Anzac Centenary is
tremendously important for modern Australia in acknowledging and honoring the Anzac soldiers
that fought in Gallipoli, forming an inheritance that presently, has great meaning and relevance

Advertisements for various products are seen everywhere on billboards, in magazines, on

product, the display of the sensual woman as she drinks a glass of milk, or the muscular man

depictions of men and women to society. Today, advertisers use the influence of gender and sex to
sell various products to consumers, resulting in unrealistic expectations of men and women to

has published advertisements implying that girls can use their sexuality to free themselves from
parental constraints (Moog 156).
Versace is yet another example of how sexuality and sexual orientated ads are used to sell their
products. In a recent advertisement for Versace Blue Jeans cologne, a nude male is seen in a
waterfall type scene. Oddly, this advertisement is selling cologne, but the focus is on the
portrayal of the nude male body in the advertisement, not the cologne fragrance. Numerous ads
show one thing, but mean something entirely different. Another example of this is from a
Seagram s ad where an attractive woman is seen dancing with a man. The ad says, Seagram s 7
gets things stirring. The couple isn t really laughing and carrying on, as seen in the ad itself; they
just look like pictures of store mannequins instead of real people (Moog 60). The Seagram s ad
communicates the message that by drinking this particular alcohol, attractive people will be drawn
to you, which will result in that person having the time of their life.
Most advertisers feel that by using sexually orientated or seductive ads, the product will be sold
much quicker. When consumers see these portrayals of men and women along the street, staring
down at them from billboards, or on the television screen, consumers desire to be like the
individual in the ads, because this will bring happiness into one s life, success, sex, and much more

Titanic Informative Speech
Iceberg right ahead! These words foreshadow one of the sea s most tragic disasters of all time.
The Titanic will always be remembered for what happened after those fearful words were said.
What most don t think of is the many other facts that surround the greatness that the Titanic was
supposed to be. What was the ship like before the infamous tragedy? Who were the people on
board the maiden voyage of the Titanic? What could the crew and builders have done to save
passengers? These questions and their answers only add to the mystery, grandeur, and sorrow of
what will be forever remembered in history. The idea to build the Titanic was brought up by J.
Bruce Ismay and Lord Pirrie. Lord Pirrie is the chairman of Harland and Wolff shipbuilders, and
Ismay is the director of White Star Line. They were attending a dinner party at Pirrie s Mansion.
The talk was about a new ship created by Cunard, a British shipping company. They had just

My Experience In My Life
As time went by, it seemed to fly faster and faster. Soon, it was the summer between my
sophomore and junior years and I had an abundance of plans for how to spend my summer. One
event stood out compared to all of the others. It would greatly influence my life and shape my my
thoughts to the way they are today. Reminiscing on the events of my past, my journey to the
glamorous mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexicoto hike for a week is indisputably
the greatest memory of my life so far. Our Boy Scout troop congregated at the Grimes South
Sports Complex at way too early of a time on a Friday morning. Nobody felt tired, however, due
to our excitement for the launch of our trek. We had been preparing for this adventure for over a
year. Our moms took the pictures that are typical of moms, then we left in cars headed for
Kansas City. I was fortunate to be placed in the vehicle that some of my closer friends were in
and we had a blast on the car ride to KC. From there, we boarded a train which would take us to
our destination of Cimarron, New Mexico, the closest form of civilization to Philmont. Travelling
by train was a unique experience. The seats were extremely comfortable and could spin around.
Each seat was situated by a large window that spanned from the ceiling to the floor allowing for a
phenomenal view of the passing scenery. The food on the meal cart was scrumptious. It was
essentially a much more pleasureable plane ride. After about twelve hours, we stumbled

Fahrenheit 451 Individual Vs Individual
Human beings are individuals. Individuals with their own bodies, facilities and inalienable rights
who live in a society. Society by definition is a body of individuals living as members of a
community (Dictionary). Therefore logic will lead you to understand that individuals are the basic
building block from which all societies are formed and without individuals, society would cease to
exist. This provides a clear answer to the decades old question, which is more important the
individual, individualism, or society, collectivism. If individuals make up society how is it possible
for society to be more important than the individual? Individualism is the idea that the individual s

Collectivism is the practice or principle of giving a group priority over each individual (Merriam
Webster). Those who believe in collectivism think having society working towards the same goal
or outcome is the most productive. Supporters of this theory feel it creates harmony and a sense
of belonging (Andrews 1). Collective societies tend to be dependent on others in the group or
institutions to meet their needs. Members of a collective society expect absolute loyalty to the
group and have a we mentality (Andrews 1). As Ray Bradbury pointed out in Fahrenheit 451, when
a collective society is present, ...they all say the same things and nobody says anything different
from anyone else. (31) The individual has no self identity and is lost to the group. Although aspects
of this argument are enticing, it ultimately fails to be a stronger argument because individual
responsibility nor moral responsibility is present. There is no incentive for any individual to step up
because everyone receives the same reward. Through collaboration and collective thoughts are great
tools, we must remember that the original thought was generated by the individual and he or she

French Nouvelle Vague lasted from the late 1950s to early 1960s. The movement was founded by
a group of film critics who wrote for Cahiers du Cinema, a French film journal. In the group of film
critics, there were Francois Truffaut, Jacques Rivette, Claude Chabrol, Jean Luc Godard and Eric

Survivor s Guilt In The Seventh Man By Haruki Murakami
Thousands of people are injured or killed every year during natural disasters. Many people may
argue about whether people should feel survivor s guilt or not after going through a life/death
situation. Survivor s guilt is when a person has went through a life/death situation and feel guilty
about surviving. Survivors of a life/deathsituations should not feel survivor s guilt
One reason survivors of life and death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it can
keep you from healing. In the short story The seventh man written by Haruki Murakami in
paragraph 47 it states ....didn t get married another example is in paragraph 48 Didn t go back for
40 years . This shows that feeling guilty about his life/death situations made his life miserable until
he realises it wasn t a big deal. This proves that, in the end survivor s guilt shouldn t affect someone
who went through a life and death situation because it wasn t their fault for wanting to live.
Another reason why survivors of life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it
is illogical. This is explained in the anchor text The moral logic of survivor guilt by Nancy Sherman.
In paragraph 5 it states We often take responsibility in a way the goes beyond what we can be held

What Are Teachers, Educators, And Educators Preparing For...
Change represents a continuous awareness on one s self and the environment. It s no surprise that
the classroom, in terms of education, is becoming more diverse every school year, while teaching
and instructional practices remain the same. In fact, Ladson Billings states in an educational article
that it has become commonplace to point out that while the US teaching force is increasingly
white, middle class, and female, the nation s PK 12 student population is growing significantly
more diverse (Ladson Billings). So the question remains: How are teachers, administrators, and
educators preparing for this change? After all, educationis not only a process that involves life
experiences, acquiring knowledge, and learning through instruction, but more importantly, it is
about adapting to life experiences and learning to acquire knowledge via diversity and multi
cultural education. For these reasons, it is pertinent that teachers are aware of the practices and
strategies that can be used to effectively engage all students in a culturally diverse classroom.
What is Culturally Relevant Pedagogy Culturally relevant pedagogy has emerged as an effective
way of centering the cultures, languages, and experiences that diverse students bring to classrooms
so as to increase their engagement and academic achievement (Irvine Armento, 2001).Culturally

Renewable Energy Is Not The Answer
Renewable Energy Is Not the Answer Renewable Energy is defined as: a renewable natural
resource or source of energy, such as water, wind, or solar power (Oxford English Dictionary).
There are those that believe that our nation should abandon the use of fossil fuels such as oil,
natural gas, and coal, and switch to renewable energysources. Although the change could yield
many benefits, I believe that renewable energy is a not viable alternative for our nation s energy
future because it would create an unfavorable environmental impact, it is not as reliable, and it
would be too costly. Converting to renewable energy sources would have a devastating
environmental impact. In addition to solar panels, wind turbines and hydroelectric dams would
make up the largest portion of renewable energy generation. Wind farms create hazards in their
areas of operation. They consume up to 200 times as much land as gas fired power plants
(Langwith). If 25 percent of our nation s energy came from wind, the turbines would kill more than
a million birds each year (Langwith). Experts have been unable to find a solution to this problem.
Hydroelectric dams are harmful to the habitats of many fish. For example, the Bonneville Power
Administration has an expensive program of capturing fish and moving them around its Columbia
River dams. Their goal is to recover and preserve the Pacific Northwest Salmon. This creates a huge
cost to fisheries and causes many environmentalists to support non hydro

early 1960s defined a period of history in which a stalemate occurred between superpowers. The
United States and the Soviet Union were continually seeking to build larger nuclear arsenals and
to also expand their territorial influence over lesser nations. The Cuban Missile Crisis defines also

It assumed the use of multiple and powerful nuclear weapons by both sides in the Cold War,
resulting in reciprocal total annihilation.
This strategic perspective defined the logical outcome of a nuclear war between two major
powers, which would result in the destruction of both sides of the conflict. Therefore, the U.S.
and the Soviets would lose in the case of a nuclear war, which laid the foundation for the Cold
War and the political conflicts that followed. This aspect of a cold war defines the ideological
expansion of communism and capitalist ideology, which would now compete for world
domination. By not being able to actually initiate a hot war between the two superpowers, it
became apparent that clandestine spy networks and the movement of nuclear arsenals would set the
stage for the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
The Soviet Union played an important role in bringing nuclear missiles to Castro s Cuba in
1962, but it should also be mentioned in the context of the overreaching Cold War with the
United States. In a broader context of the Cold War, the United States has presaged the Cuban
Missile Crisis by President Kennedy s placement of nuclear missiles on the border of Turkey and
Italy, which was perceived as a threat by Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev,. These events took
place in 1961, which could be perceived as a cause for the movement of nuclear missiles by the
Soviets to Cuba in 1962. Overall, it was also evident that the Soviets and the U.S.

Development Of The Residential School System

: A quote from Aggie George recalling of her experience in the Lejac Indian Residential School
(Legacy of Hope Foundation, 2001). In the 1880s all the way to the 1990 s roughly 150,000
aboriginal children where removed from their communities and homes to attend the residential
school system set up by the government and operated by the Christian churches (Government of
Canada, 2015). The purpose of these residential schools was to isolate Aboriginal children from
their families and assimilate them into the dominant culture (First Nations Study Program, 2009).
As the history of the residential school system unfolds it becomes evident that the Canadian
Government attempted to eradicate the Aboriginals culture and lifestyle. The residential school
system was a devastating crime against Aboriginal cultures and has had lasting and debilitating
effects on their populations.
The residential schools were a wide spread school system that was established by the Canadian
government and organized by the Christian churches (Government of Canada, 2015). The goal of
these schools was to educate Aboriginal children in Christianity and to adapt them into mainstream
society. The children in these schools were forced to abandon their heritage, and were separated

The Assumption Of Data Statistics
Introduction
Assumption/Hypothesis
Confirm a common assumption about data statistics: data statistics is accurate in calculation but
can be misleading in interpretation and decision making.
Background
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics. This quotation is often attributed to
Benjamin Disraeli, the 19th century British Prime Minister. In research study, Statisticsallow us to
distill a large number of experiences down to a few simple truths. But the truths may not be
important, or they may be misleading and imply that something is true that isn t, or that something
is important when it is not. Bad point about statistics is that that it tells you the conclusion without
knowing the reasons behind it. Why? Because Statistics are numbers, and numbers cannot provide a
complete picture of anything. They are an abstraction of reality and, because of this, they are not
the reality itself. No amount of measurement and quantification can capture any real thing to any
significant degree. So people often forget this simple fact and begin to think of customers and
employees as revenue or cost sources, complaints, or something other than the complete human
beings that they are. In this sense, anything that uses numbers represents a potential barrier to
understanding the reality being studied. Of course, absent context, numbers only tell the story the
writer wants them to tell. If you don t put a number in context, it is a nugget of information that

Raw Documentary Analysis
Documentaries. A piece of multimedia produced to enhance viewers knowledge about a particular
subject or event. They purport to portray reality; strive to showcase an unbiased viewpoint;
endeavour to tell a truthful story. However, this goal is rarely achieved. Directors create
documentaries in such a way they can never portray the entire truth. Filmmakers manipulate

It is foolish to believe a documentary maker merely documents events as they unfold and
incorporates everything in the final product. If this were true, documentaries would be several
hours long, repeating the same point indefinitely and they would not be as captivating. Throughout
her film, Cowperthwaite purposely applies footage of Orca s in the wild; their natural habitat;
demonstrating how they should truly live. Cowperthwaite proceeds to incorporate additional
footage of Orca s in captivity, highlighting the drastic and monstrous change in lifestyle to the
viewers. Cowperthwaite also includes in her creation, footage of employees at shows and during
training. These videos show the trainers carefully working through stunts for shows with the utmost
care for safety, discounting SeaWorld s numerous claims of workers not taking correct precautions
before attempting a command. The inclusion of this footage positions the audience to develop a
further biased opinion of the unfortunate events that took place, based on the truth the director
includes. Therefore despite not being a feature movie, a documentary maker makes deliberate
decisions regarding what footage is used in their film, eliminating an element of

The Evolution Of Human Species Essay
In recent years, anthropologists have made great progress in discovering all of the different kinds of
human species. The discovery of a certain early human species, Australopithecus afarensis was
initially credited to the finding of a single individual, AL 288 1, or Lucy. She has helped
anthropologists to understand the diet, anatomy, environment, sexual dimorphism, the technology
or tools used during their time, and bipedalism of this early hominin species. The evolution of
humans is interesting due to the questions we are trying to find and the answers we might never
find. With the finding of Australopithecus Afarensisand Lucy, we can understand what our early
hominin ancestors were like and the significant changes that were made from them to us today.
Humans created a theory that millions of years ago humans walked the earth, but it was not until
recently that theory became a fact. In 1974, a partial skeleton was uncovered in Hadar, Ethiopia, by
American paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson. This skeleton was named AL 288 1 and later
given the nickname, Lucy. She received the name Lucy from a popular song at the time of her
discovery, Lucy in the sky with diamonds , by The Beatles. After a series of tests, the age of
Lucy was soon determined to be an estimated 3.2 million years old (Dorey Blaxland, 2015). Her
sex was established by using one of the pelvic bones and sacrum that was discovered at the Hadar
dig site. The weight and height of Lucy have been

Psychological and Sociological Theories of Domestic...
Domestic violence is a crime that occurs regularly within the United States. It claims millions of
victims each year. There is not a specific cause to establish why domestic violence occurs.
However, it has been documented that domestic violence is a product of physical, emotional,
sexual, psychological, and any other forms of torture or torment that the particular abuser wishes to
employ to gain control or power over their victims (Gosselin, 2005). Due to the complexity of this
crime, many criminologists and socialologists have studied its causes and the effects in order to
determine social policies and additional theories to better understand the causation of domestic
violence. The social policies and theories that are developed from... Show more content on

This theory believes that an individual will choose criminal behavior by free will after weighing
out the rewards and benefits verses the consequences or punishment for their behavior (Gosselin,
2005). In essence, the abuser will choose domestic violence as a means to the end since they feel
control and domination is necessary in order to coexist within personal relationships. On the other
hand, if the offender believes the risks outweigh the ability achieve personal gain, control, or
satisfaction, he or she may choose not to commit the abuse (Schacter, et al., 2009). I believe this
theory explains the restraint an abuser displays when they carefully select the type of abuse
administered to their victims and the length of time they choose to enact the abuse. Most abusers
will not openly abuse their victims in front of others in order to deter detection. Detection is not an
option for most abusers, since they are familiar with the consequences of their actions.
A second example of a theory that would explain domestic violence would be the social learning
theory. This theory falls under the category of the psychological theory. The social learning theory
is the most relevant theory that applies to criminology. Behavior is supported by rewards and
extinguished by negative reactions or punishments (Siegel, 2007, p.109). The social learning theory
believes people are not born with the ability to act in

Scottish Devolution Essay examples
Devolution is the transfer of powers from a central body to subordinate regional bodies. In Scotland,
Devolution was set up to restore legitimacy to a system of government that reflected Scottish
preferences. The reason behind the demand for Scottish self government is that Scotland had the
historic status of nationhood before the Union of 1707 and within the Union, has a different set of
legal, educational and religious institutions that reinforce a Scottish identity.
The Scottish National Party (SNP) was founded In 1934 and In 1960 was found oil in the North

economical; having oil would suppose economical independence from England.

with not enough representation to reach the 40% needed to start the Scottish devolution.
Scottish devolution was defeated in the referendum and the two biggest parties campaigned for No
. The SNP considered the results as a victory for devolution but was against the referendum as they
were campaigning about the complete independence.
In 1977 a Labour Member of Parliament introduced a important issue, a question that was called
The West Lothian Question later on and referred to the ability to vote on matters that only afected
people living in England by Members of Parliament from constituencies in Northern Ireland,

Odysseus
Odysseus В– A Different Type of Hero
The Homeric epic, the Odyssey, is set in the peaceful years following the Trojan War, and
concerns the returning heroes on their journeys home, in particular Odysseus of Ithaca. Odysseus
is an epic hero; he displays courage, superior strength, and leadership, all qualities that people
admire. While displaying these archetypal heroic traits he also displays his weaknesses as a man,
particularly his excessive pride, which actually make him easy to relate to. So by demonstrating
his strengths, and overcoming his weaknesses he becomes an epic hero, not only in Homer s time
but in the 21st century as well. Yet these archetypal heroic qualities are not his only heroic qualities,
in order to win his battles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As other Kyklopes rush to see what the screaming is all about they are told by Polyphemos that:
Nohbdy, Nohbdy s tricked me. Nohbdy s ruined me! (Homer IX 426). When morning comes,
Odysseus and his men escape from the cave by clinging to the bellies of the Kyklops sheep. This
carefully constructed plan of tricking the Kyklops, inflicting severe pain to this more dominant
adversary, and the ingenuity of the final escape clearly demonstrate the epic heroic qualities and
the cunning and shrewdness of Odysseus. When Odysseus reaches his homeland he is initially
unsure of where he is. He is approached by Athena, in disguise, but displays his own cunning to
outwit the goddess by concealing his identity from her until he is able to find out who she is and
where he is. Whoever gets around you must be sharp and guileful as a snake; even a god might
bow to you in ways of dissimulation. You! You chameleon! Bottomless bag of tricks! Here in your
own country would you not give your stratagems a rest or stop spellbinding for an instant? (Homer
XIII 342 348)
After discovering where he was, and what had been going on in his absence, Odysseus eventually
sheds his disguise and shows himself to Telemakhos. He outlines his plan of how to launch a
surprise attack within his palace against the suitors. Entering the palace as a beggar;

Hooligan as an honorary title I. Intro Bandido, insurekto, pilibustero, erehe... hooligans. These

of activists who throw crumpled papers to Abad and shouting that he s a thief. These are the so
called enemies of the university as the 23 UP Econ profs unjustly and unfairly referred to. It
also brings back the heckling of PNoy in Columbia University by couple of FilAm activists. The

James D. Thorne Grand Ballroom
I, Noah A. King, am about to walk into the famous James D. Thorne Grand Ballroom with my

Things look glorified now but, things weren t always like this. First let me introduce myself, I am

Five years and three days ago, in a little town call Tollasend were the sky is painted all color and

month left of summer before we had to go back to school. As Jazmine throw her last gutter of the
game she came and sat with the rest of us to join the rest of the conversation. After a long
egotistic talk about who is the best and smartest we get on the topic of what it means to be
African American. This was a very confusing topic for us because we were surround by white
people and we have adopted their culture. An odd silent fell among us for a minute. Then, Grace
spoke hoping that the odd silent well end. Well, being black is like living in a cardboard box, Grace
explained. To this day I don t know what she meant but, being black to me... well I really don t
know what it means to be black. After the we finished our conversation we walked how our

Brand Relationship Between Brands And Consumers
According to Veloutso Moutinho (2009, p.315) Brand relationship is defined as the continual
exchanges between a specified brand and an established customer, where relationship characteristics
of love, association, interdependence and loyalty are developed with the brand. However, Keller
(2014, p.365) revealed that consumer brandrelationships are the quality of relationship between
brands and consumers. As a result, there are many influences that formulate consumer brand
relationship. Basically, brand loyalty , brand equity and trust Escalas and Bettman, (2005, p. 379)
are the underpinning factors that generates brand relationships. Furthermore, this developing
customer brand relationship constitutes a sum of long term experiences with the brand where the
brand is the entirety of the customers experiences with the brand. However, supplementing the long
term customer brand relationship, brand communications is the major catalyst in relation to
enticing both customer and seller in the long term relationship, hence attaining a brand emotional
connection. This brand relationship does not only lodge an essential position in the mental period
of a brand connection, rather it stimulates greater sales due to customer retention, less price
Vulnerability, superior customer loyalty and advanced profit margin.
In addition, developing brand relationship requires the company to build brand equity Keller (2014,

Imperialism And Militarism
It may be difficult to lay the blame of an entire world war on a singular country, but many
historians agree that Austria Hungary and Germany carry the weight of the blame of for the
occurrence of World War I. The historians Professor John Rohl (University of Sussex), Dr.
Annika Mombauer (The Open University), and Professor Gary Sheffield (University of
Wolverhampton) all agree that Germany s support of Austria Hungary with the blank cheque
when they declared war on Serbia forced the hand of other countries to join. Imperialism and
militarism played a large role in the eagerness for Germany and Austria Hungary to begin a war.
Militarism was a large in factor in why both Germany and Austria Hungary were more than
willing to declare war on Serbia. Both countries had knowledge that it would most certainly
escalate into a European war at the very least, given Russia s interest in preventing the expansion of
the Austria Hungary empire further into the Balkans. Dr. Annika Mombauer believes that war was
avoidable; Germany put pressure on Austria Hungary to declare war, viewing it as a favorable

In this report I will be comparing methods used by two different retailers on how they distribute
two chosen products, of my choice, in two different retailing sectors. Seeing as the food and
clothing sector both have very different styles of how they meet their product requirements, I will
compare Tesco and JD; The products from these two companies itself that I m going to compare is
Tesco Value Bread and Nike hoodies.

Tesco is: frozen, chilled, and fresh foods, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are more outgoing costs in the production process for the Nike hoodies than the Tesco Value
Bread as the clothing s going to more places, and costs a considerable amount more to make than
the bread.
The warehousing locations used to hold the goods (the food and the clothing) may be identical
in size but the number of locations is most likely different. Because of the fact that the Nike
hoodies are bigger in size compared to the Tesco Value Bread one may be lead to believe that
Nike have purchased/hired out a lot more warehouses to contain their goods compared to Tesco. On
the other hand, even though Nike may seem to have more warehouses than Tesco it doesn t
necessarily mean that they sell more, as there are different levels of demand for both the products.
Nike promote their hoodies through a lot of ways; Nike use mainly advertisements through the
web, television and advertisements through shops most of the time their own shops. They mass
promote their Nike hoodies, whether they re new releases or just old hoodies that need to go.
Through companies like JD that sell Nike hoodies most of the time they put the hoodies on sell to
promote the product further and make it more appealing to the customers that may want to
purchase it. Tesco, to some extent, do in fact the same thing in regards to reduced cost methods but
it isn t even close to comparable when looking

Supernatural And Spiritual Reasoning Regarding The...
Supernatural and spiritual reasoning regarding the physical properties of the universe are often
discredited because they lack sufficient evidence or overlook natural laws. However, many people
still rely on these ideologies as a doctrine governing their lives and world. Alternatively, the world
has shifted towards naturalism a practice which follows the physical properties of the world due to
an advancement in scientific inquiry and technology. Carl Sagan, author of The Demon Haunted
World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, claims that naturalism is the only reasonable framework to
accurately describe physical properties of the world. Sagan s claim is valid due to the self
correcting mechanisms found within naturalism that produce evidence with certainty.
To begin, Sagan constructs his discussion by defining hope, which is a feeling of expectation and
desire for something certain to happen. Science acts as a mechanism to find the truth in avenues
which we seek it. Every scientist hopes that he/she is right, but science is what makes them right.
What makes science right, according to Sagan, is that it has its own built in mechanism to correct
itself (Sagan, 27). Sagan is correct, the scientific method itself is designed to be a replicated
process. That is, if one scientist were to make an observation, form a hypothesis, run an experiment,
record data, and make a conclusion. Then, another scientist could repeat the process and results
could be compared between the two.

  • 3. The Industrial Revolution Was An Innovative Period For... The Industrial Revolution was an innovative period for entrepreneurs and inventors, in which many monumental technologies were introduced. However, many of those of the factory workers suffered from the social and economic conditions that resulted from the revolution in the 19th and 20th centuries. Some social conditions were that working women increasingly took up the workforce in textile factories as a way to earn money, but they also faced abuse from men and the harsh working conditions. Furthermore, manufacturers wanted to increase their profits by ensuring that the maximum amount of work could be done in a day, thus they increased the working shifts. The want to increase profits was an economic condition that factoryworkers had to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although most females workers were older than 20, a social condition was strongly indicated that child labor was very much existent during the 19th and early 20th centuries as a way to provide for themselves and their families. E. Patricia Tsurumi also provided the genders and ages in the silk factories, but in Nagano Japan. In Nagano, female workers from ages 15 to 20 took up the majority of the workforce. Despite the varied numbers of female workers, both Coleman and Tsurumi presented information that females were mainly employed in textile factories. On the other hand, Harriet Hanson Robinson provided a closer perspective in a former female factory worker s experience. Robinson, the female factory worker, wrote about how females in the cotton factory had to endure abusive working conditions and the reduced wages in Lowell. Robinson held a specific opinion upon the working conditions as the greatest hardship in the lives of children and that the reduced wages were unfair social conditions, because she was once a factory girl. A factory girl was considered to be the lowest among the employments of women; as a result, Robison may have endured much of the hardships and cruel treatment in the factories at a very young age. It was a common social condition among many factory workers that they had to withstand the long hours, such as described in documents 3, 4, and 5. In Okaya, Japan, an average workday was 13 to 14 hours long with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay Informative Speech About Tattoos It seems like everyone has one these days. What used to be the property of sailors, outlaws, and biker gangs is now a popular body decoration for many people. And it s not just anchors, skulls, and battleships anymore, from school emblems to Celtic designs to personalized symbols; people have found many ways to express themselves with them. Maybe you ve thought about getting one. Well before you head down to the nearest tattooshop and roll up your sleeve, there are a few things you need to know. So You Ask, What Exactly is a Tattoo? The tattoo is made by penetrating your skin with a needle and injecting ink into the area creating some sort of design of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it looks a lot cooler than a big scab, a new tattoo is also a wound and like any other scrape, puncture, cut or penetration to your skin, a tattoo is at risk for infections and disease. You need to make sure you are up to date with your immunizations (especially hepatitis and tetanus shots) and plan where you will get medical care if your new tattoo does become infected. Signs of infection include excessive redness or tenderness, prolonged bleeding, pus, or changes in your skin color around the tattoo. If you have a medical problem such as heart disease, allergies, diabetes, skin disorders or any condition that affects your immune system or are prone to infections, you should ask your doctor before deciding to get a tattoo. Also, if you are prone to getting keloids (an overgrowth of scar tissue in the area of the wound), it s probably best to avoid getting a tattoo altogether. Avoiding Infection It s very important to make sure the tattoo studio is clean and safe, and that all equipment is disposable (needles, gloves, masks, etc.) and that everything is sterilized. You can call your state, county, or local health department to ask for recommendations on licensed tattoo shops, or to ask about any complaints about a particular studio. Professional studios take pride in their cleanliness; here are a few things to check for: Make sure the studio has an autoclave which is a device that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Example Of A Worldview Essay A worldview is a set of basic beliefs about the nature of reality. It affects the way a person behaves and responds to different circumstances. When young, our worldview is influenced by parents, who tell us what is right and wrong. However, as we grew up, our life experiences come to shape worldviews that we hold as adults. As scientists, our worldviews matter a great deal. Whether theist or atheist, it is critical to know what we consider to be our responsibility towards everyone and everything around us. In this paper, I talk about views of a number of scientists about Godand creation and the impact of these beliefs on their approach to science. In addition, we will look at different natural phenomena and what they tell us about the Intelligence design behind them. I will also discuss the effects of human actions on the environment and what can be done to keep it clean. Isaac Newton is one of the most prominent scientists in recent times. He is known for his contribution on understanding gravity, and he contributed a lot in calculus. Many thinkers and scientists of his time tried to explain everything using science excluding the role of God in their explanation. Unlike them, Newton was a strong religious person. He believed in a personal God but rejected the idea of the Holy Trinity. He did not believe that God and Christ were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The company which sells only pure and unaltered products achieves this by promoting its own house brand such as Whole Catch, Whole Creamery and 365 Everyday Value label as a substitute for processed food (Conway, 2007). For example, Oreos is replaced by 365 Everyday Value label s organic cookies and cream sandwich. In addition, Whole Foods purchases its salmons from an on site salmon buyer in Alaska who has long standing relationships with non commercial fishermen. This supply line ensures that the wild caught salmon is available for sale within 48 hours, guaranteeing its freshness and quality (MIT Sloan Management, 2010). • 12. Penny Stock Trading Essay As you probably already know, penny stock investing is very risky. In fact, it is probably the most dangerous investing method of all. And it is also very profitable. Nothing beats being an owner of a stock, whose share price went from $0.12 to $22 in a few weeks. But not every penny stock trading is the same. There are as many techniques as there are investors, though we can identify three major strategies that are the most common. You definitely should consider choosing one of them, and then refining it further to match your trading style. 1. Cheap Stocks On Major Stock Exchanges By common definition the shares of penny stocks are trading below $5. There are really many stocks like that on major stock exchanges, like the New York Stock... These penny stocks are usually really small startups with a share price below $1. There are thousands of them, and you cannot ignore the research necessary to filter out those 95% of them which are useless. OTC penny stocks have other kinds of risks altogether. They are extremely illiquid. Not many shares are traded daily, so if you buy a stock on an OTC market, later you may find yourself in a position that you simply cannot sell it for profit, because of the low volume and a large spread between the bid and the ask price. You won t be able to find a buyer. The other risk is that the great majority of stocks on OTC markets are really low quality, junk stocks, and only a few of them are worth further research. Knowing how to find the good ones is the key point. 3. Ride The Pump And Dump This is unquestionably the most dangerous strategy. Penny stock trading gets all the bad press primarily because of the pump and dump schemes. Pump and dump is a very common and unethical (even criminal) activity where scammers buy up the majority of shares of a low quality OTC penny stock, and then they promote it heavily, so that gullible investors buy the stock too, thereby driving up the share price. • 14. Comparison Of Harrison Bergeron And Harrison Bergeron The story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and the short film 2081 directed by Chandler Tuttle have many similarities and differences. Both the story and the short film are about a boy named Harrison Bergeron who escaped from jail and ran off to a theater. He ended up in jail for tearing off his handicaps in public. In their community, people have handicaps in order to be equal in every way. In the short film, Hazel and George Bergeron, Harrison s parents, switched roles. Harrison also put a bomb under the theater where the ballerinas were performing. Harrison was not even wearing glasses, a red nose, he did not have bad teeth, he even had all his hair and his eyebrows. In these stories people start to realize that the equality they ve always wanted is dangerous and in some ways torture. In the story, Hazel and George were both sitting in their living room and watching a ballet performance on TV. Then George gets up and goes to the kitchen and Hazel is alone. A news report comes on the TV and it s about Harrison. The ballerina explained that Harrison escaped jail and that people should avoid him. The ballerina stated If you see this boy, do not I repeat do not try to reason with him. (2) In the film this scene changes in some ways. In the film Hazel is the one going to the kitchen to wash dishes and George stays to watch the performance. He forgets everything he sees in a matter a twenty seconds while watching Harrison live on TV. Even though he forgets everything he still has flashbacks from when Harrison was carried out of their house. These changes affect the story because it was from two different point of views. In Hazel s point of view some things don t make sense in general. Since her brain is normal, unintelligent, she forgets everything. George is smart and that is why he has a radio transmitter in his ear that sends out noise so that he can forget things. In the film Harrison puts a bomb under the theater where the ballerinas were performing. The bomb could have been fake but it made the film more intense. It is known that pacemakers have failed before, but it can be assumed that the aforementioned pacemakers did not have this company s transistor in it or else they most likely would ve already left the contract. Bentham s Advice to the Company Jeremy Bentham defined Utilitarian ethics as we are to promote pleasure and act to reduce pain. (Driver, 2009). Bentham defined these ethics by taking into account an array of parameters that included intensity, certainty, proximity, fecundity, purity and the amount of people affected by a given decision (Driver, 2009). Many people may argue about whether people should feel survivor s guilt or not after going through a life/death situation. Survivor s guilt is when a person has went through a life/death situation and feel guilty about surviving. Survivors of a life/deathsituations should not feel survivor s guilt One reason survivors of life and death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it can keep you from healing. In the short story The seventh man written by Haruki Murakami in paragraph 47 it states ....didn t get married another example is in paragraph 48 Didn t go back for 40 years . This shows that feeling guilty about his life/death situations made his life miserable until he realises it wasn t a big deal. This proves that, in the end survivor s guilt shouldn t affect someone who went through a life and death situation because it wasn t their fault for wanting to live. Another reason why survivors of life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it is illogical. It s no surprise that the classroom, in terms of education, is becoming more diverse every school year, while teaching and instructional practices remain the same. In fact, Ladson Billings states in an educational article that it has become commonplace to point out that while the US teaching force is increasingly white, middle class, and female, the nation s PK 12 student population is growing significantly more diverse (Ladson Billings). So the question remains: How are teachers, administrators, and educators preparing for this change? After all, educationis not only a process that involves life experiences, acquiring knowledge, and learning through instruction, but more importantly, it is about adapting to life experiences and learning to acquire knowledge via diversity and multi cultural education. For these reasons, it is pertinent that teachers are aware of the practices and strategies that can be used to effectively engage all students in a culturally diverse classroom. What is Culturally Relevant Pedagogy Culturally relevant pedagogy has emerged as an effective way of centering the cultures, languages, and experiences that diverse students bring to classrooms so as to increase their engagement and academic achievement (Irvine Armento, 2001).Culturally relevant pedagogy builds on the understanding of how people are expected to go about learning may differ across cultures, and in order ... • 29. Renewable Energy Is Not The Answer Renewable Energy Is Not the Answer Renewable Energy is defined as: a renewable natural resource or source of energy, such as water, wind, or solar power (Oxford English Dictionary). There are those that believe that our nation should abandon the use of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, and coal, and switch to renewable energysources. Although the change could yield many benefits, I believe that renewable energy is a not viable alternative for our nation s energy future because it would create an unfavorable environmental impact, it is not as reliable, and it would be too costly. Converting to renewable energy sources would have a devastating environmental impact. In addition to solar panels, wind turbines and hydroelectric dams would make up the largest portion of renewable energy generation. Wind farms create hazards in their areas of operation. They consume up to 200 times as much land as gas fired power plants (Langwith). If 25 percent of our nation s energy came from wind, the turbines would kill more than a million birds each year (Langwith). Experts have been unable to find a solution to this problem. Hydroelectric dams are harmful to the habitats of many fish. For example, the Bonneville Power Administration has an expensive program of capturing fish and moving them around its Columbia River dams. Their goal is to recover and preserve the Pacific Northwest Salmon. This creates a huge cost to fisheries and causes many environmentalists to support non hydro ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Assumption Of Data Statistics Introduction Assumption/Hypothesis Confirm a common assumption about data statistics: data statistics is accurate in calculation but can be misleading in interpretation and decision making. Background There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics. This quotation is often attributed to Benjamin Disraeli, the 19th century British Prime Minister. In research study, Statisticsallow us to distill a large number of experiences down to a few simple truths. But the truths may not be important, or they may be misleading and imply that something is true that isn t, or that something is important when it is not. Bad point about statistics is that that it tells you the conclusion without knowing the reasons behind it. Why? Because Statistics are numbers, and numbers cannot provide a complete picture of anything. They are an abstraction of reality and, because of this, they are not the reality itself. No amount of measurement and quantification can capture any real thing to any significant degree. So people often forget this simple fact and begin to think of customers and employees as revenue or cost sources, complaints, or something other than the complete human beings that they are. In this sense, anything that uses numbers represents a potential barrier to understanding the reality being studied. Of course, absent context, numbers only tell the story the writer wants them to tell. If you don t put a number in context, it is a nugget of information that means ... The discovery of a certain early human species, Australopithecus afarensis was initially credited to the finding of a single individual, AL 288 1, or Lucy. She has helped anthropologists to understand the diet, anatomy, environment, sexual dimorphism, the technology or tools used during their time, and bipedalism of this early hominin species. The evolution of humans is interesting due to the questions we are trying to find and the answers we might never find. With the finding of Australopithecus Afarensisand Lucy, we can understand what our early hominin ancestors were like and the significant changes that were made from them to us today. Humans created a theory that millions of years ago humans walked the earth, but it was not until recently that theory became a fact. In 1974, a partial skeleton was uncovered in Hadar, Ethiopia, by American paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson. This skeleton was named AL 288 1 and later given the nickname, Lucy. She received the name Lucy from a popular song at the time of her discovery, Lucy in the sky with diamonds , by The Beatles. After a series of tests, the age of Lucy was soon determined to be an estimated 3.2 million years old (Dorey Blaxland, 2015). There is not a specific cause to establish why domestic violence occurs. Due to the complexity of this crime, many criminologists and socialologists have studied its causes and the effects in order to determine social policies and additional theories to better understand the causation of domestic violence. This theory believes that an individual will choose criminal behavior by free will after weighing out the rewards and benefits verses the consequences or punishment for their behavior (Gosselin, 2005). In essence, the abuser will choose domestic violence as a means to the end since they feel control and domination is necessary in order to coexist within personal relationships. On the other hand, if the offender believes the risks outweigh the ability achieve personal gain, control, or satisfaction, he or she may choose not to commit the abuse (Schacter, et al., 2009). I believe this theory explains the restraint an abuser displays when they carefully select the type of abuse administered to their victims and the length of time they choose to enact the abuse. Most abusers will not openly abuse their victims in front of others in order to deter detection. Detection is not an option for most abusers, since they are familiar with the consequences of their actions. A second example of a theory that would explain domestic violence would be the social learning theory. This theory falls under the category of the psychological theory. The social learning theory is the most relevant theory that applies to criminology. Behavior is supported by rewards and extinguished by negative reactions or punishments (Siegel, 2007, p.109). However, Keller (2014, p.365) revealed that consumer brandrelationships are the quality of relationship between brands and consumers. As a result, there are many influences that formulate consumer brand relationship. Basically, brand loyalty , brand equity and trust Escalas and Bettman, (2005, p. 379) are the underpinning factors that generates brand relationships. • 50. Imperialism And Militarism It may be difficult to lay the blame of an entire world war on a singular country, but many historians agree that Austria Hungary and Germany carry the weight of the blame of for the occurrence of World War I. The historians Professor John Rohl (University of Sussex), Dr. Annika Mombauer (The Open University), and Professor Gary Sheffield (University of Wolverhampton) all agree that Germany s support of Austria Hungary with the blank cheque when they declared war on Serbia forced the hand of other countries to join. Imperialism and militarism played a large role in the eagerness for Germany and Austria Hungary to begin a war. Militarism was a large in factor in why both Germany and Austria Hungary were more than willing to declare war on Serbia. Both countries had knowledge that it would most certainly escalate into a European war at the very least, given Russia s interest in preventing the expansion of the Austria Hungary empire further into the Balkans. Dr. Annika Mombauer believes that war was avoidable; Germany put pressure on Austria Hungary to declare war, viewing it as a favorable opportunity to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 51. Compare the Methods Used to Distribute Two Selected... Compare the methods used to distribute two selected products and services In this report I will be comparing methods used by two different retailers on how they distribute two chosen products, of my choice, in two different retailing sectors. Seeing as the food and clothing sector both have very different styles of how they meet their product requirements, I will compare Tesco and JD; The products from these two companies itself that I m going to compare is Tesco Value Bread and Nike hoodies. For the food retailing sector (Tesco) there are many different departments that address what type of design is necessary for the distribution chain, the types that are available for a company such as Tesco is: frozen, chilled, and fresh foods, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are more outgoing costs in the production process for the Nike hoodies than the Tesco Value Bread as the clothing s going to more places, and costs a considerable amount more to make than the bread. The warehousing locations used to hold the goods (the food and the clothing) may be identical in size but the number of locations is most likely different. Because of the fact that the Nike hoodies are bigger in size compared to the Tesco Value Bread one may be lead to believe that Nike have purchased/hired out a lot more warehouses to contain their goods compared to Tesco. On the other hand, even though Nike may seem to have more warehouses than Tesco it doesn t necessarily mean that they sell more, as there are different levels of demand for both the products. Nike promote their hoodies through a lot of ways; Nike use mainly advertisements through the web, television and advertisements through shops most of the time their own shops. They mass promote their Nike hoodies, whether they re new releases or just old hoodies that need to go. Through companies like JD that sell Nike hoodies most of the time they put the hoodies on sell to promote the product further and make it more appealing to the customers that may want to purchase it. Tesco, to some extent, do in fact the same thing in regards to reduced cost methods but it isn t even close to comparable when looking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Supernatural And Spiritual Reasoning Regarding The... Supernatural and spiritual reasoning regarding the physical properties of the universe are often discredited because they lack sufficient evidence or overlook natural laws. However, many people still rely on these ideologies as a doctrine governing their lives and world. Alternatively, the world has shifted towards naturalism a practice which follows the physical properties of the world due to an advancement in scientific inquiry and technology. Carl Sagan, author of The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, claims that naturalism is the only reasonable framework to accurately describe physical properties of the world. Sagan s claim is valid due to the self correcting mechanisms found within naturalism that produce evidence with certainty. To begin, Sagan constructs his discussion by defining hope, which is a feeling of expectation and desire for something certain to happen. Science acts as a mechanism to find the truth in avenues which we seek it. Every scientist hopes that he/she is right, but science is what makes them right. What makes science right, according to Sagan, is that it has its own built in mechanism to correct itself (Sagan, 27). Sagan is correct, the scientific method itself is designed to be a replicated process. That is, if one scientist were to make an observation, form a hypothesis, run an experiment, record data, and make a conclusion. Then, another scientist could repeat the process and results could be compared between the two. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
