This paper provides a review of various Power Factor Correction (PFC) boost
converter topologies suitable for telecoms. A novel integrated PFC topology is proposed which acts
as a backup power supply for telecommunication systems. The advantage of the proposed circuit is
that it operates based on soft switching principle thereby reducing the switching losses in the
converter. The topologies analyzed in this paper are conventional average current mode control
boost PFC, bridgeless boost PFC, semi-bridgeless boost PFC, totem-pole bridgeless boost PFC and
proposed integrated boost PFC. All these topology studies are investigated by carrying out the
simulation of the converter circuits using PSIM software. A detailed comparison of all the
topologies have been done and they are compared in terms of supply power factor, supply current
THD and displacement factor. From the results, it is inferred that the proposed integrated PFC
provides a reduced supply current THD and improved power factor. The results are validated.

This document compares a single-stage three-phase AC-DC converter using SiC MOSFETs to a conventional two-stage AC-DC converter. The single-stage converter removes the need for a separate DC-DC stage by using a high frequency transformer to directly step down the voltage from the PFC stage. This makes the design more compact and efficient with lower costs compared to the conventional two-stage approach with its 10 switches and separate DC-DC stage. Simulation results show the THD is reduced to 10% and efficiency increased to 95% with the proposed single-stage design.
This document presents a transformerless three-phase single-stage single-switch AC/DC converter with closed loop control that is suitable for universal line applications. The topology integrates a buck-type power factor correction cell with a buck-boost DC/DC cell. It achieves efficient power conversion, high power factor, low voltage stress, and can provide the required output voltage. Simulation and experimental results show the converter achieves a power factor of around 0.96 and efficiency of around 89%. The absence of a transformer reduces component counts and cost compared to isolated converters.

AN ACTIVE PFC WITH FLYBACK DESIGN FOR INTELLIGENCE IN STREET LIGHT APPLICATIONJournal For Research
As the requirement of energy demand is increasing due to rapid industrial development, it is necessary to meet the growing demand of energy. This can be achieved in two ways: find alternate resource to supply power or energy; or reduce the energy consumption of present resources available. The proposed work is basically the design and implementation of an intelligent street light of 50 W power output from the offline converter by using power LED. As power LED draws huge non sinusoidal current due to the presence of AC-DC converter, a Boost PFC and a fly back converter is used for better power factor and for dc voltage regulation. Along with this a PIR sensor and LDR sensors are also used. A PIC microcontroller is used for PWM dimming. This makes to reduce the power consumption in street light especially in urban cities in which most of the power is wasted in lighting streets during late night.

A Low Cost Single-Switch Bridgeless Boost PFC ConverterIJPEDS-IAES
This paper proposes the single-switch bridgeless boost power factor correction (PFC) converter to achieve high efficiency in low cost. The proposed converter utilizes only one active switching device forPFC operation as well as expecting higher efficiency than typical boost PFC converters. On the other hand, the implementation cost is less than traditional bridgeless boost PFC converters, in where two active switching deivces are necessary. The operational principle, the modeling, and the control scheme of the proposed converter arediscussed in detail. In order to verify the operation of the proposed converter, a 500W switching model is built in PSIM software package. The simulation results show that the proposed converter perfectly achieves PFC operation with only a single active switch.

Three Phase Single Stage Isolated Cuk based PFC ConverterAsoka Technologies
In this paper, analysis and design of a three phase isolated Cuk based power factor correction (PFC) converter has been proposed. The proposed converter is operated in discontinuous output inductor current mode (DOICM) to achieve PFC at ac input. This avoids the inner current control loop which further eliminates the sensing of current. This makes the system more reliable and robust. The converter requires only one simple voltage control loop for output voltage regulation and all the power switches are driven by the same gate signal which simplifies the gate driver circuit. The detailed operation of the converter and design calculations are presented. And also a small signal model of the converter by using CIECE approach is presented to aid the controller design. The experimental results from a 2-kW laboratory prototype with 208-V line-to-line input voltage, 400-V output voltage are presented to confirm the operation of the proposed converter. An input power factor of 0.999, an input current total harmonic distortion of as low as 4.06% and a high conversion efficiency of 95.1% are achieved from laboratory prototype.

Simulation of Bridgeless SEPIC Converter with Modified Switching PulseIJMER
In this paper, a new bridgeless single-ended primary inductance converter(SEPIC) power-factor-correction(PFC) rectifier is introduced. The proposed circuit provides lower conduction losses with reduced components simultaneously. In conventional PFC converters(continuous-conduction-mode boost converter), a voltage loop and a current loop are required for PFC.Simulation is done on bridgeless SEPIC and full bridge SEPIC and found that by working both in DCM conduction losses is less for bridgeless. In the proposed converter, the control circuit is simplified, and no current loop is required while the converter operates in discontinuous conduction mode.

New Topology for Transformer less Single Stage -Single Switch AC/DC ConverterIJMER
This paper presents a transformer less single-stage single-switch ac/dc converter suitable for universal line applications (90–270 Vrms). The topology consists of a buck-type power-factor correction (PFC) cell with a buck–boost dc/dc cell and part of the input power is directly coupled to the output after the first power processing. With this direct power transfer and sharing capacitor voltages, the converter is able to achieve efficient power conversion, high power factor, low voltage stress on intermediate bus (less than 120 V) and low output voltage without a high step-down transformer. The absence of transformer reduces the size of the circuit , component counts and cost of the converter. Unlike most of the boost-type PFC cell, the main switch of the proposed converter only handles the peak inductor current of dc/dc cell rather than the superposition of both inductor currents. Tight voltage regulation is provided by using PID controller. Detailed analysis and design procedures and simulation of the proposed circuit are given .

This paper proposes a Power factor Corrected (PFC) Bridgeless Buck-Boost converter fed BLDC motor drive. The Bridgeless configuration eliminates the Diode Bridge Rectifier in order to reduce the number of components and the conduction loss. The position sensors used in BLDC drives have drawbacks of additional cost, mechanical alignment problems. These bottle necks results in sensorless technique. The Sensorless technique mostly relies on measurement of Back EMF to determine relative positions of stator and rotor for the correct coil energising sequence can be implemented. This paper introduces the offline Finite Element method for sensorless operation. The proposed sensorless scheme estimates the motor position at standstill and running condition. The obtained Power Factor is within the acceptable limits IEC 61000-3-2. The proposed drive is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink the obtained results are validated experimentally on a developed prototype of the drive.

This document discusses power factor and power factor improvement. It defines key terms like active power, reactive power, and apparent power. It explains that loads like motors and transformers are inherently inductive and have low power factors. The advantages of improving power factor are discussed, such as reducing line losses and increasing transmission capacity. Common methods for improving power factor like installing capacitors are described. Examples are provided to illustrate power factor calculations and capacitor sizing. The natural power factors of various equipment types are also listed.
This document describes a power supply/battery charger with a full bridge resonant converter. The charger has an output of 26.4VDC at 33A maximum. It operates in constant current and constant voltage modes with protections against overvoltage, overtemperature, and undervoltage. The charger uses a pulse width modulated full bridge converter with a power factor correction boost converter on the input side and a full bridge ZVS resonant converter on the output side. Key components and operations of the power factor correction, DC-DC conversion, output rectification, and control sections are explained.
This document discusses power factor correction and automatic power factor correction (APFC) systems. It explains that power factor is the ratio of active power to apparent power and can be lagging or leading. Low power factors are caused by inductive loads and non-linear loads. APFC systems use capacitors in automatic steps controlled by a microprocessor to maintain a high power factor under varying loads without manual intervention or risk of overvoltage. This improves efficiency and reduces utility penalties and equipment loading and sizes. The document provides specifications for capacitor selection and switching equipment for APFC systems.
the ratio of the actual electrical power dissipated by an AC circuit to the product of the r.m.s. values of current and voltage. The difference between the two is caused by reactance in the circuit and represents power that does no useful work.
This document discusses power factor correction. It defines power factor as the ratio of actual power to apparent power. Inductive loads cause low power factors by creating a phase difference between voltage and current. Low power factors increase losses and costs. Power factor can be corrected by installing capacitors to supply reactive power and improve the phase relationship. Proper power factor correction increases system capacity, reduces losses, saves costs through efficiency improvements and utility incentives, and improves voltage stability.

Input switched closed-loop single phase SEPIC controlled rectifier with impro...IJECEIAES
DC power supply has become the driving source for some essential modern applications. Thereby, DC power conditioning has become a significant issue for engineers. Typically used rectifiers associated with a bridge structure is nonlinear in nature. Thereby, the current at input side of the rectifier contains harmonics, which also flow through the power line. The presence of harmonics causes several interruptions and reduce power quality. In this regard, a new close loop SEPIC controlled rectifier is proposed in this paper. The conventional scheme is arranged with a rectifier connected to a DC-DC converter, which is an open loop system. Consequently, such system cannot regulate voltage at load varying condition. The proposed SEPIC controlled rectifier can regulate voltage under load varying condition for a wide range. Additionally, the performance in terms of total harmonic distortion (THD) of input current and power factor at AC side are also within satisfactory range for the closed loop configuration. The controlled rectifier has four operating phases associated with switching states and input voltage polarity. The close loop configuration also incorporates a current and a voltage loop at the feedback path. The comparative studies have been performed among the proposed closed loop construction, the open-loop structure as well as the conventional construction. The effectiveness of the proposed controlled rectifier is verified in terms of THD and input power factor considering the results obtained from simulation.
A new closed loop AC to DC ĈUK converter is presented in this paper. The conventional ĈUK AC to DC converter has no feedback circuit. Thereby, the output voltage of the converter changes while changing the load. The proposed closed loop converter can regulate voltage with the variation of load over a wide range. Moreover, the power factor and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the supply side current found quite satisfactory from this closed loop ĈUK converter. The converter operates in four steps with a different combination of voltage polarities and switching states. The feedback path consists of a voltage control loop and a current control loop. The closed loop ĈUK converter in this study is compared with the open loop version. Additionally, the comparison is made with the conventional converter of the same topology. The effectiveness in terms of power factor and THD of the proposed converter is verified using simulation results.

Bridgeless CUK Power Factor Corrector with Regulated Output Voltagepaperpublications3
Abstract:A single-phase, bridgeless Cuk AC/DC power factor correction (PFC) rectifier with regulated positive output voltage is proposed in this work. For low output voltage product applications, the rectifier is designed to convert high input voltage to low output voltage. This work presents bridgeless single-phase AC-DC power factor correction (PFC) rectifier based on Cuk topology. The topology does not possess input diode bridge and have only single semiconductor switches in the current owing path during each interval of the switching cycle, which resulting in less conduction losses and better thermal management. This topology is designed to work in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The advantages of Cuk converter are also available when bridgeless circuit topology is introduced. The operation is symmetrical in two half-line cycles of input voltage. In conventional, output voltage varies according to input voltage. A closed loop control technique is designed to regulate the output voltage in the desired level. Performance and applicability of this converter is presented on the basis of simulation in MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Modulated Integrated Converter systems are considered to be the new and global turning point in the field of
Solar PV systems. These converters are highly recognised for its modular size and compact nature and they are supposed to
be attached directly with each PV module and since one PV module is having the power rating of a few watts ranging from
0-500Ws, the design rating would be in the same range and thus the most vital condition in such a design is efficiency

called PNAND is proposed. The main purpose of this work to reduce the leakage, power
and area of standard ASIC Circuits. By predicting the performance comparison of some
electrical quantity such as charge, voltage or current, the implementation of threshold

Multipath routing protocol for effective local route recoveryIJARBEST JOURNAL
In mobile Ad hoc network, frequent mobility during the data transmission of data
causes route failure which results in route discovery. In this we propose multipath routing protocol
for effective local route recovery in mobile Ad hoc networks. In this protocol each source and
destination pair establishes multiple paths in single route discovery and they are cached in their route
caches. The cached routes are sorted on the basis of their bandwidth availability. In case of route
failure in the primary route, a recovery node which is an over heading neighbor, detects it and
establishes a local recovery path with maximum bandwidth from its route cache. This proposed
technique improves network performance and it prevents frequent collision.
Simulation of an adaptive digital beamformer using matlabIJARBEST JOURNAL
Beam forming is the process of combining the weighted signals received on an array of
sensors to improve the directionality. Adaptive beamforming is the ability of the beamformer to
receive the signal only from the desired direction and to reject all other signals from undesired
directions. The weight vector for the adaptive beamformer continuously changes based on some
adaptive algorithm. Therefore, adaptive digital beam formers can point the antenna to the signal
direction without changing the physical architecture of the array antenna. The beam pointing
direction can be varied electronically with this technique. This paper focuses on Least Mean
Square (LMS) adaptive algorithm.
Quantification of rate of air pollution by means ofIJARBEST JOURNAL
To develop efficient strategies for pollution control, it is essential to assess
both the costs of control and the benefits that may result. These benefits will often include
improvements in public health, including reductions in both morbidity and premature
mortality. Until recently, there has been little guidance about how to calculate the benefits
of air pollution controls and how to use those estimates to assign priorities to different air
pollution control strategies. In this work, a method is described for quantifying the benefits
of reduced ambient concentrations of pollutants (such as ozone and particulate matter)
typically found in urban areas worldwide. The method applies the data on Jakara, Indonesia,
an area characterized by little wind, high population density (8 million people), congested
roads, and ambient air pollution. The magnitude of the benefits of pollution control depends
on the level of air pollution, the expected effects on health of the pollutants (dose-response),
the size of the population affected, and the economic value of these effects. In the case of
Jakarta, the methodology suggests that reducing exposure to lead and nitrogen dioxide
should also be a high priority. An important consequence of ambient lead pollution is a
reduction in learning abilities for children, measured as I.Q. loss. Apart from that, reducing
the proportion of respirable particles can reduce the amount of illness and premature
mortality.
Simulation and Implementation of Electric Bicycle employing BLDC DriveIJARBEST JOURNAL
Electric Bicycles have been gaining attention as an efficient and clean means of
transportation. This paper focuses on the design and implementation of a hybrid powered
electric bicycle employing a dc-dc power converter. Two DC sources are used: battery and
super capacitor. The super capacitor is connected in parallel to the battery and a dc-dc
converter is designed in closed loop which arbitrates power between the battery and super
capacitor. The purpose of employing super capacitor is to drive the vehicle during the peak
power required by the load. The main components of the proposed electric bicycle are:
battery, super capacitors, dc-dc converter, controller and BLDC motor. These components
are modeled in MATLAB. Three topologies of dc-dc converter are investigated for the
electric bicycle and they are compared in terms of ripple at the input and the output and
from the results it is found that the modified boost converter results in reduced ripple. The
lead acid battery and super capacitor are modeled in SIMULINK to obtain the voltage and
current waveform. A prototype of the proposed dc-dc converter is built alongwith
controller and it is tested. A real-time working model of electric bicycle is built and the
performance of the sources and the power converter are analyzed and the results are
verified.

Researchers found that the new cap lamp design improved floor hazard detection by up to 82% and peripheral motion detection by up to 79%. To further evaluate the cap lamps' real-world performance, researchers conducted a field study where they measured miners' walking speed and head pitch using sensors as indirect indicators of the lighting's effects on human performance.
