I Am Serving As An Instructor
Reading these initial chapters in our textbook comes at an interesting time for me, as I am currently
serving as an instructor for the first time! Speaking from personal experience, I agree with the authors
in that simple skills are a crucial first step in getting off on the right foot. I believe it would be difficult
to recover with students (as well as your own self esteem) starting out ill prepared. I really wish that I
could have taken this course prior to serving as an instructor, or at the very least attended some kind of
training to prepare me. Of great importance, as Svinicki and McKeachie point out, is having a firm
grasp on university etiquette to avoid taboo subjects and relate to students appropriately. Although
common sense should prevail, training in this area may help mitigate issues that may arise with a lack
of understanding on the part of the instructor. I appreciate the timeline that chapter two offers in
relation to preparing to teach three months in advance, and can see myself referring back to this in the
future. This section highlights the importance of avoiding procrastination in planning, and provides
detailed instructions on how to stay on task. I did find the discussion of course goals and objectives

Materials
The materials used for this study included PsychMate Student Version 2.0 (St. James, Walter
Schneider and Amy Eschman.) Psychology Software Tools, Inc. Along with the PsychMate software,
a computer provided by Queens College was used in order to successfully complete the study.
Design
The experiment done for this study was chosen from the Perception section of the Experiment
Categories menu of PsychMate. The experiment selected was titled 1.3 Rotation of Mental Images.
The experiment Rotation of Mental Images was conducted in the Normal mode. The expected

result, Family group conferencing originated in New Zealand in 1989 and routinely involves victims,

similar to victim offender mediation in that it also seeks to give victims the opportunity to express the
impact of their crime which occurred to them, to receive answers, and to have an active role in the
process of holding offenders accountable for their actions (Umbreit Zehr, 1996, p. 24). Unlike victim
offender mediation, however, family group conferencing brings family members, social service

compounds. Since ibuprofen and acetylsalicylic acid travelled the greatest distance up the TLC plate,
they had the least amount of attraction to the silica gel plate, making them the least polar solutes. For
column chromatography, unknown #16 contained 0.0457g ferrocene, 0.0137g 9 fluorenone, and
0.0114g acetylferrocene. Their mass percentages were 44.15%, 13.24%, and 11.01%, respectively,
determined from a total of 0.1035g of the compound mixture. Ferrocene, 9 fluorenone and
acetylferrocene had melting points of 174 175̊C, 83 86̊C, and 83 85̊C, respectively. The mixture after
evaporation accounted for roughly 68% of the original mixture. This was mainly due to product loss

My favorite piece is Symphonie Fantastique by the composer Hector Berlioz. This is my favorite
piece because I love how it really tells a story through music. You can feel the emotions he puts into

much familiarized with the position of each key and comfortable with pressing the keys without lifting

this learning experience, I am confident that I am no longer a beginner. Although instructions from the
videos were easy to follow, there were still some challenges that I encountered during my practices
