Brands, Inc. owns three of the world s best known fast food franchises, which are Kentucky Fried
Chicken (KFC), Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. With a multi branding strategy, a firm can combine its
brands into the same location in order to increase sales and improve operating efficiency. In terms of
industry profitability, it appears that profit margins have a tendency to fall. This is because
competition is high and customers tend to buy low priced high value items. The average gross margin
and net profit margin is 37.1% and 14.3%, respectively (MSN Money, 2010).
Key Macro External Forces
Socio cultural Today s society is becoming increasingly more health conscious. Consumers are aware
of calories, obesity, sodium content and fatty food intake issues. Many restaurants have responded to
the healthy eating trend by expanding the number of healthy food choices on their menus. A study
found that American fast food chains increased their healthy menu items by 65% during the second
quarter of 2009 to the second quarter of 2010 (Midday, 2010). Another important social factor is the
desire to be socially responsible. More restaurants are going green by choosing local ingredients,
meats, and vegetables over those shipped from thousands of miles away. A study reports that around
80% of Americans consider themselves to be environmentally conscious. The same study found that
over 60% of Americans prefer to eat at eco friendly or green restaurants (Hubpages, 2010).

The American Revolution Was A Political Revolution
In the 1700s, Great Britain was the strongest empire economically; she had established many colonies
as well as rivals in the New World. Most important was Britain s rivalry with France as it led to the
Seven Year War. The war had drained the empire economically, causing it to place taxes on the
colonies in the New World. In turn rebellions arose and led the colonies to declare independence. For
the thirteen colonies the American Revolution began with its Declaration of Independence. The
American Revolution was indeed a revolution, because its conclusion brought change. However, the
American Revolution was a political revolution and but not a social revolution.

Finally the colonists were represented. The second form of Republicanism is defined by perceiving the
nation as an organic whole composed of people nobly sacrificed for the common good for an
individual s pursuit of rational self interest . This form of republicanism depicts the idea of
nationalism in the colonies. The creation of a nation created patriotic pride within the colonies and a
sense of equality. This was a change in value because the colonist were initially subjects of the king
and now every colonist is a citizen and equal. Lastly, the third form of Republican government was
more liberal since men who advanced towards this form wanted government to respond directly to the
needs of ordinary folk, rejecting any notion that the lesser sort should automatically defer to their
betters . This shows how common people had gained a say in government through voting. This is a
change in value because before the colonist didn t have a say in the parliament.
The American Revolution was a political revolution because it resulted with change in the way
government was organized. In May 1776, before the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the
Second Continental Congress met and decided to create a constitution before creating a new
government. The creation of the constitution placed limitations on the fundamental structure of the
government. The

Categories Of Phobias
Phobias have impacted millions of people just in the United States. Whether they or someone they
know has a phobia, phobias have affected their lives somehow. Researchers have found various
methods for treating these phobias, but still have not found the exact cause for the development of
phobias. To help organize these phobias, researchers have created three main categories that group the
phobias by the general subject of fear. As previously stated, researchers have not yet determined the
cause of the development of phobias, but have narrowed it down to two main theories. With
treatments, researchers have been a bit more successful with finding working treatments, however,
there still aren t very many alternatives. Through the use of three broad categories of phobias,
probable causes and treatments can be determined. The possible cause(s) of the development of
phobias has been debated multiple times, but there are two leading theories, currently. Most
researchers support either genetics or traumatic experiences. Phobias that have been developed during
childhood are more likely to disappear in comparison to adult ... Show more content on

The first and most common category is specific phobias. They tend to focus on one subject such as an
animal or an enviormental factor (i.e heights or the dark). The next category is Agoraphobia.
Agoraphobia centers around areas that make the patient uncomfortable such as open spaces. Panic
attacks tend to be more common for people with Agoraphobia. The last class of phobias is social
phobias. This category is generally regarded as the most severe out of the three due to how it affects
the individual s life. For example, as states, Social phobia disrupts normal life, interfering with career
or social relationships . In this class of phobias, individuals fear that they might be embarrassed or

The Relationship Between Politics And Administration In...
The idea of civil service dates back to ancient times. But bureaucracy is modern terms that evolved
with the emergence of Public Administration as an academic field. Politics administration dichotomy
is one of the most important factor in the Study of Public Administration by Woodrow Wilson in 1887
(Afegbua: 2013). Nature of administration, the extent of work by bureaucracy and many other issues
are characterized by the relationship between politics and administration. Bangladesh has experienced
different forms of government regime from military autocratic to democratic republic. Before
liberation, it experienced government system under British Colonialism and government by Pakistan
as it was part of Pakistan earlier. Due to the variation in the forms of government the relations between
politics and administration were also different.
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) is one of the most important pillars of the National
Integrity System having a key role in promoting excellence and integrity in the public service and
administration of the country. PSC s independence, political neutrality, transparency, accountability,
integrity and effectiveness are fundamental prerequisites for carrying out its functions which include
holding of competitive examinations for recruitment to the public service, recommend recruitments,
promotions, discipline, employee appeal and other related matters. Lack of credibility and integrity of

Election Text Analysis Essay
Election Text Messaging Content Strategy Guide Election Text Messaging Content Strategy Guide
The next big idea in political campaigning is text messaging because operatives can reach supporters
with timely messages that people open and read. The costs are negligible when compared with
traditional advertising or even the low prices of email and social media campaigns. The only major
risk is overusing the medium by sending too many texts. Sending about four messages a month is the
maximum limit, and political campaigns should send at least two messages per month to keep
supporters engaged. Elections turn on getting the voters attention, and no advertising strategy or
medium does it better than a text message. Messages arrive directly on people s phones no matter
where they may be or what they re doing. Almost everyone with a smartphone checks his or her
messages regularly throughout the day. Mobile marketing is the easiest and most affordable way to
promote a candidate, political party or cause. However, the key to success involves building a
database of likely voters and supporters, energizing people with compelling content and distinguishing
the candidate or cause from the opposition. Content strategy is crucial. The Changing Face of

Free Tutoring Is A Great Thing For The End Of The Day Essay
Introduction
A lot of parents would love to get their child the help they need for school, or extra help to get ahead if
needed. Today there are a lot of tutoring programs out here, but all of them are not free. So, where
does that leave the children and the parents who cannot afford these programs? It can leave that child
at a lost because that child is not getting that extra help to become successful. Free tutoring is a great
thing for several reasons. At the HOPE Academy they offer free tutoring for students who may cannot
afford tutoring and are behind in their class. HOPE academy is making a differences in their kid s
lives because it is not just tutoring at the end of the day.
Social issues/challenges
There are several social issues that pertains to my service learning, but the main issue I would say is
getting the students the extra help that they need. Most of the students live in poverty or not the best of
areas and getting access to the extra help for school are slim to none. Most of the students who come
into the tutoring program at HOPE are not on their reading grade level or math grade level. This is
nothing to come to be a shock because there are a lot of kids every year that fall behind their grade
level. It seems to be the ones that do not live the best of areas.
This is a serious issue because once a child is behind especially at a young age it can be very difficult
to catch back up. Unfortunately, that child may never catch up to grade level if he or she

The Big Bang Theory Ideologies Essay
There are many common ideologies found in today s culture and they are often supported in television
shows, television ads, and other sources of media. The Big Bang Theory is just one of many shows
that embraces ideologies and stereotypes that are found in culture today, such as cultural myths about
geeks, culture, and women.
The Big Bang Theory characterizes intellectuals, particularly men as unsexy, unpopular, bad athletes,
unstylish, and social inept children looking for a mother figure. These ideologies are wrong but it
continues to predominate in the mass media, which wants us to believe that those who are very smart
or academic are not attractive to the opposite sex. One character on The Big Bang Theory is Rajesh

Wolowitz still lives at home with his extremely loud, overly informative, obnoxious mother. He is also
explicitly portrayed as the creepiest and least likable character on the show. Wolowitz is completely
out of touch with women and usually just ends up offending them when he attempts to interact with
them. Here viewers are presented with several traits all popularly associated with young Jewish men.
Another example is Amy Farrah Fowler who is a neuroscientist that is conventionally unattractive, has
difficulty with communication and building relationships, and has the same sexual and relational
desires that everyone else does (Zuska, 2010).
The remaining female characters that appear in the series are generally there to be gratuitously
objectified and competed for by the male cast. The character Penney fits into the typical girl next door
character type in several ways. Firstly, she s blonde and very attractive. She also hails from the
Nebraska and works as a waitress as she tries to become a professional actress. Penny is initially
portrayed as a sweet, unintelligent individual who gets by on her good looks and charm rather than
possessing a strong intellect or talents. Finally, Penny fits the stereotype of a beautiful young neighbor
by being presented as rather sexually promiscuous. Men are often seen leaving her apartment the
morning after she s been on a date, and in episode 401, The Robotic Manipulation, Sheldon seems to

The Perception of African Americans in the Media and How...
The Perception of African Americans in the Media and How it Affects Their Self Identity
There has been much debate over the perception of African Americans in the media and how it affects
their self identity. It is easy to find examples of bias in portraying African Americans, but not a lot of
causal research to prove that it causes problems with self identity. A case can even be made that the
amount of media presence by African Americans, whether biased or un biased, has greatly helped to
unify and give voice to a small minority group.
The role of the media in the social identity of African Americans

Before 1787, of course, African Americans were slaves and only thought of as chattel. In 1787 the
U.S. Constitution was ratified. It provided for the continuation of the slave trade for another 20 years
and stipulated that a slave counted as three fifths of a man for purposes of representation by
government. In 1865 some headway was gained when the Thirteenth Amendment was passed,
outlawing slavery and establishing a Freedmen s Bureau to assist former slaves. Also in 1865 Union
General, William T. Sherman issued a field order setting aside 40 acre plots of land in Georgia, South
Carolina, and Florida for African Americans to settle. Yet, in 1866, all white legislatures in the former
Confederate states passed the, so called, Black Codes sharply cutting the freedom of African
Americans and virtually re enslaving the race. Since that time there have been many gains and set
backs for African Americans. Given the history of the United States treatment of African Americans, it
is easy to understand how they could struggle for their true identity. Perhaps James Jones (1991) says
it best when he states, Black personality is in part an adaptation to the political contours of racism.
The conflict between the freedoms and rights of United States citizens is juxtaposed to the denial of
freedom and rights that is the history of the African American presence in this

The Railroad Bride Analysis
Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks simple,
but uses geometry and one point linear perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the
alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color orange and blue in
both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical
balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride.
He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object and the whole object by using
geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same
overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as
opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that
the boat is moving that way as well. The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the
bridge. I believe the focal point is the new bridge for the train and new travels was is focal point in the
picture. The asymmetrical balance of the composition 8 1: Explain way the following mediums

France s Long History Boundaries
Europe s long history greatly affected the world s structure today in a multitude of ways. How did
countries such as England and France establish their borders along the continent? Modern boundaries
affected the world in numerous ways. The extensive Hundred Years War raged from 1337 to 1453 and
played a key role in solidifying borders in Europe (Hundred Years War np). Conflict over the throne of
France ignited a bitter war between England and France when English kings claimed their right to the
French throne (Curry 3). Several significant battles during the war included The Battle of Crecy, The
Battle of Poitiers, The Battle of Agincourt, and The Battle of Castillon. Arise of new technology

There were breaks in the war that lasted for long periods of time, however, the issue of the monarchy
of France still remained (Hundred Years War np). Another skillfully fought battle that occurred years
later was the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 which resulted in another victory for the English (Curry 10).
England s king, Henry V, intended to conquer more French land and capture the throne as the rightful
king just as previous kings had done. The French army s heavy armor, cavalry, and overconfidence
had led to their downfall in this battle, even though they outnumbered the English army (Curry 10). If
the army had instead used their numbers more efficiently to overpower the English and advance their
style of warfare, then the results would have been different. As stated in Battle of Agincourt , The
English stood their ground as French knights, weighed down by their heavy armor, began a slow
advance across the muddy battlefield. The French were met by a furious bombardment of artillery
from the English archers (Battle of Agincourt np). A slow army would be easy to target and dwindle
their numbers because the English archers could halt a cavalry charge from a distance. It was a time of
change for the English and their army while the French army still used the feudal system of knights in
this battle. Evidently, the feudal system was becoming obsolete as a result in the disadvantages it
presented. Without England s advancement, the smaller army most likely would have not been able to
capture more duchies of France. Possibly, the French army might have stopped the war entirely earlier
on. Instead, the French stubbornly held onto traditional style of warfare that cost them battles against
modern warfare tactics and the Hundred Years War

Analysis Of Katherina In The Taming Of The Shrew
The Taming of the Shrew , has without a doubt concentrated on the taming of the play s fundamental
character, Katherina. With the Renaissance move towards logic and reason, civilizing citizens is a
noteworthy concern in Shakespeare s play. Katherina s human advancement along these lines comes to
fill in as a model not just for the other ladies of the play, but also the audience (Detmer, 275). The play
turns into a model for investigating Renaissance changes in the society concerning sexual orientation
roles as well as the presence of those roles in public. The taming of the shrew and domestic violence
elucidates a more up to date feminist point of view that perceives Katherina s taming as domestic

Refined men did not beat their spouses, but rather utilized more sensible strategies to declare control.
As found for Petruchio s situation, policy was utilized to assume complete control over Katherina and

one, Petruchio s quick reaction is simply the risk of viciousness however not savagery itself. I ll swear
I ll sleeve you in the event that you strike once more, he says (Shakespeare et al, 21). He at that point

new techniques of assuming control over spouses that were satisfactory in Renaissance society. Be
that as it may, Katherina s taming or civilization does not genuinely start until her wedding day. At the

Theory of Knowledge, a philosophy course required for the IB Diploma program, is the most

Renoir s Luncheon of the Boating Party Essay examples
Luncheon of the Boating Party Luncheon of the Boating Party is a European artwork painted in 1880
1881 by French Impressionist, Pierre Auguste Renoir. In traditional Impressionist style, Renoir
depicted a scene from modern life and based it in a place he knew well the Restaurant Fournaise.
Chatou was one of Renoir s beloved settings and Luncheon of the Boating Party is a romanticized
portrait of his friends enjoying a Sunday afternoon on the balcony of the restaurant. His intention was
to take a normal scene and create a modern day party that portrayed the youth and beauty of his

distance, the women surrounding the table; laughter, wine and company, and obvious friendship, but
maybe also boredom. Was this a pre or post boating trip as the title hints? Was this painting staged, or
maybe even a band and live music playing to the side? After closely looking over the portrait, what is
most interesting to me is that contrary to the large number of people in the painting, no one s gazes
meet, showing no connections between the people, although most are smiling. Wave After doing
research on this portrait, I find that the setting of Luncheon of the Boating Party is at the upstairs
terrace of the Masion Fournaise restaurant on an island in the Seine at Chatou. The painting conveys a
casual and contemporary gathering of people sharing food, wine, and conversation on a balcony
overlooking the Seine. The people in Renoir s paintings are actually personal friends of his. The
woman in the lower left is Aline Charigot, Renoir s future wife. Charigot was clearly painted with the

Hence with higher gross income of households also means that Australians has higher disposable
income which allows them to spend more on dining outside. In real terms, spending on food has
increased 30 percent (over the past 20 years) while incomes have risen 36 percent, according to the
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry 2012 foodmap report. Thus, this increases the
bargaining power of buyers as Australians are able to spend more on food due to a higher gross

monomaniac fashion ? Margaret Atwood s Nine Beginnings, attempts to answer the broad question of,
Why do you write? This is an essay where the author is having a conversation with herself and
contemplating her thoughts about writing. Atwood acknowledges that writing is a process that is never
ending, and a person needs self confidence of their ability to write, in order to be a proficient writer.
Margaret Atwood also believes that multiple accounts of failure are important for any writer. A person
learns from their mistakes and the writer s voice comes out more authentic to who the person is due to
adversity. Writing is a selfish act. The first goal for writing is to better yourself, the writer who is
wrestling with their emotions, life and thoughts. Reading and writing are dependent on each other.
Writers are inspired by what they have read, and they think of their own lives and build upon their
influences. Every writer must read, in order to gain knowledge of what is inspirational for themselves
and others, You learn to write by reading and writing,, writing and reading. As a craft it s acquired
through the apprentice system, but you choose your own teachers. Sometimes they re alive, sometimes
they are dead, (Atwood, Pg.201). This statement is well

Plastics And The Plastic Age
The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (Cózar et al 2014). Plastic is
synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive to
produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not
decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and marine
life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard rhythm,
fuelling the plastic economy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based plastic debris,
comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal (Derriak 2002).
Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel 2016). These
particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015). Microplastics have
become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas (Obbard et al 2014 as
cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015). Plastic
pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as well as massacring innocent
marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017). Overall, preventing ocean plastic
pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and contamination, particularly
microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic.
In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed of
within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are: high
density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polypropylene and
polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). These polymers
account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most common plastics found in
aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). Plastic debris
often migrates to form five subtropical gyres, large garbage patches colloquially dubbed marine soup
(Eriksen et al 2013; Weinstein 2009). It is estimated five to thirteen tonnes of

Domestic Terrorism Related Intelligence.
Domestic Terrorism Related Intelligence
Abstract
Domestic terrorism is like cancer that eats away at the very values and beliefs of the American people.
Instead of combining efforts to peacefully and legally enact change, domestic terrorists take the law
and actions into their own hands. Groups such as eco terrorists use firebombing to make their point
that the Earth will be protected at all costs. That cost even meant human lives. Militia groups feel the
same way. Their goal is not about saving the Earth but rather to change the government. They see it as
too weak to handle the needs of the America people. These individuals use modified firearms,
explosives, and survival tactics. Law abiding citizens are not defenseless, the FBI and NCIRC work
together to help keep America safe.
Keywords: FBI, NCIRC, militia, white supremacy, firebombing, explosives, domestic terrorism
Domestic Terrorism Related Intelligence
Crimes are the result of individuals that do not follow established laws of the land. Criminals can
either be individuals or they can be organized groups. The best way for law enforcement to handle the
challenges of criminal element is to understand their strategies and then counter them. The purpose of
this paper is to review domestic terrorism related intelligence and how it is related to criminal
intelligence. Using criminal intelligence is the first step in dealing with criminal elements. The data is

Tourette Syndrome Essays
Tourette Syndrome
Tourette syndrome is an inherited severe neurological disorder usually occurring before the age of
eighteen and is associated with a degree of facial and body tics sometimes accompanied by random
declarations of phrases or obscenities (2,3). The facial and body tics associated with the disorder can
be painful and even embarrassing. Involuntary body movements such as jaw snapping, gyrating,
hopping, and obscene gesturing are to name a few (1). Tourette Syndrome was named after a French
neuropsychiatrist named Gilles de la Tourette who successfully assessed the disorder in the late 1800
s(3). Tourette Syndrome claims no specific race or ethnicity. The disorder generally can affect any
ethnic group yet it does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Associated with the motor tics experienced by the patient are sometimes more self destructive
behavior such as head banging, eye poking, and lip biting (1). There have also been cases of various
learning disabilities connected with Tourette Syndrome such as dyslexia (4).
Vocal tic behavior in patients diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome include outbursts of meaningless
words or phrases. The vocal tics disrupt the regular flow of speech and cause the patient to stammer or
stutter (1). Inappropriate outbursts called coprolalia are considered involuntary. Coprolalia may also
take place in this display of vocal tic disorder. However, coprolalia only takes place in a small number
of Tourette Syndrome sufferer s (1).
Each individual suffering from Tourette Syndrome should be evaluated as such. Certain manifestations
of Tourette Syndrome may disable one in certain parts of their life such as in their school performance,
while it may affect another s personality or psyche (3). It may affect a totally different behavioral
dimension in one s life than that of another diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome.
Although research on Tourette Syndrome is ongoing, it is believed that the disorder is

When You Are Old By William Butler Yeats
When You Are Old is a poem that was written by William Butler Yeats in 1891. It is a poem about a
person who wants to be remembered by those he loves. It is a story about dreams forgotten and
memories long gone. Yeats captured a feeling of longing in this poem that some people may never
understand unless they have a relationship that is more to them than any other relationship they will
ever have. When You Are Old talks about a woman who was loved by a man until he died. It is a story
of how a life should be remembered by a person who loved another. When You Are Old is about the
love of a man for a woman whom he had on a pedestal. He felt this woman was loved by many with a
true and deep love and loved by others with a false love. He felt this woman was loved much like
people today love celebrities. Yeats wrote about this woman as though he knew her intimately. He asks
her to slowly read, and dream of the soft look, Your eyes had once and of their shadows deep (Yeats).
He wants her to remember how things were in her youth. He wants her to remember her dreams and
think of how things were and how they may have been. Yeats is asking her to take her time and day
dream about her glory days. In the first lines of the poem Yeats describes this woman as old and grey
and full of sleep (Yeats). The speaker of the poem addresses his beloved saying that when she is aged
she should read a particular book which will remind her of her youth. She will remember the

How Did George Jefferson Influence Pop Culture
George Jefferson is a late 90 s television icon, brought to life by Sherman Hemsley. A husband, father,
and entrepreneur; managing to be both the antagonist and protagonist of every show he has made an
appearance in. He made his stride in television and America by introducing a new portrayal of the
black man and the black family, in ways that did not require them to lose their black identity. Jefferson
s importance goes beyond the existence of his fictional depiction. He played a role in branding a social
mark on the real world and in Hollywood. In this paper, I will explain how George Jefferson made
himself a peculiar yet prominent influence in American pop culture by having substantial success off
screen, being a successful businessman on screen, and being controversial in the safe spaces of
Hollywood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He first made his appearance on the nine season long American sitcom, All in the Family, where him
and his family lived as neighbors and frenemies to the Bunker family. Jefferson s appearance on this
popular show boosted so highly that his brother, who filled George s position in the Bunkers
life, became somewhat of a nuisance to the audience once he returned. Jefferson s absence, due to his
own prejudices against the bigoted Archie Bunker, was completely forgotten when he stepped onto the
screen and captured the hearts and ratings of many across the country. This lead to his spin off show,
The Jeffersons, centered around George Jefferson, his wife, children, and witty tenants. It became a
massive 11 season hit; breaking records, setting trends, and becoming the second longest running,
black leading sitcom. Nearly one third of the country was tuning into the sitcom every week. George
Jefferson s success on and off screen was aided by the people surrounding him;nonetheless, he figure

2 Communicative CALL
What is Communicative CALL?
Communicative CALL is based on the communicative approach to foreign language teaching which
became prominent in the 1970 s and 1980 s.
The communicative approach
1 Is a reaction to the audio lingual approach.
2 Focuses on language as a medium of communication.
3 Recognizes that we use language to get things done: we speak a language in order to communicate
with others (e.g. we want to express likes and dislikes, ask somebody s hobbies, find directions to a
place).
How the Communicative CALL works?
1 Grammar is taught implicitly rather than explicitly.
2 Computers are used to stimulate discussion, writing or critical thinking. Students are encouraged to
generate original utterances rather than just manipulate prefabricated language.
3 The programmes avoid telling students that they are wrong and are flexible to a variety of student

Open, Safe Classroom Environment
Recently, those within education have begun to focus on not only teaching content, but also helping
children to develop socially, emotionally and morally. Many teachers use activities in the classroom
can help to improve students ability to develop their social identity, their emotional recognition, and
their moral values. Furthermore, these types of activities can be useful for teachers in helping to
establish an open, safe classroom environment where students can expand on their values and beliefs
in a comfortable way. One activity that has commonly been used to improve these abilities is morality
based questioning.
Within my Year 11 Religion and Society class, there was an activity which focussed on discussion and

Students had to consider the statement, before moving to the side of the room that they agreed with.
Once all the children had taken a position, they were required to discuss the statement with everyone
on their side, and come up with a single sentence response as to why they believe that they are correct.
Following that, they had to nominate a spokesperson, who had to share their sentence with the entire
class. Students were then given 10 seconds to change sides if the argument presented by the other side
was persuasive enough. Within their small group, they then had 2 minutes to discuss as many
arguments as possible, before pitching these arguments to the other group. Then the teacher
summarised all the arguments that the students presented, writing them on the board. After asking if
there were any further questions, the teacher would read out a new statement and the class would
repeat the activity. At the end of the class the teacher explained that the purpose of the activity was to
get students to work together to consider the multifaceted nature of ethical dilemmas. Through
discussion, students were able to improve their social and emotional development, and further
heighten their sense of morality.
This activity is an example of how the classroom environment can facilitate the development of a
moral conscience. Though moral development is hard to define, it is commonly thought of as the
process by which students are influenced

The Technology Of Communication Systems
Abstract:
Technology is increasing rapidly. Various new technologies in various fields are emerging day by day.
Among them Communication Systems is the branch in which most part of the scientists are focused
on. CDMA, GSM, 3G, 4G are examples of the technologies that are developed in this field. Behind all
the components included in the technology of communication system, Antennas take the most part.
Smart antenna system received a greater interest for its involvement in performance improvement of
wireless radio systems. Many techniques are included in this system such as enhancing received signal
strength, reducing the interference and increasing capacity, etc. The main purpose of this paper is to
provide how scientists approached and achieved towards smart antenna. Thus, this paper includes
problems in communication, how it is overcame by smart antenna, its working like beamforming,
adaptive system etc.
Introduction:
A decade ago, Communication systems haven t been able to properly exploit the spatial component of
mobile radio channel. Communication systems has been facing two main problems. One is using very
small amount of energy and second is interference problem i.e., mixing of main signal with signal
from other communication links. Here, the solution is eliminating interference and collecting total
radiated energy. It may sound simple, but yes it is the solution. The system which can able to do these
two works is smart antenna system.
Antennas have a long

The Causes Of Witchcraft
The human mind has always tried to grapple with inconsistencies, misfortunes, and differences.
Without true success, humans have pinpointed possible influences and causes of misfortunes or
tragedies within their communities. For many people in the 1600 s, witchcraft was a possible answer
to a lack of success in pinpointing the cause of tragedies. Gossip was the the primary root in all such
instances of witchcraft, weaving stories and accusations in private. These accusations of witchcraft did
not end in the 17th century, but now hide under pseudonyms such as different or outsider in this day
and age. The Lisbon sisters and Janie from The Virgin Suicides and Their Eyes Were Watching God,
respectively, are modern day examples of how gossip can catalyze witch hunts to persecute and incite
violence upon women who differ from the status quo. Janie and the Lisbon sisters possess many
characteristics often attributed to witches: sexual deviance, religious discord, and they are each
outsiders in their community. Witch craft is heavily influenced by rumor and gossip in the sense that
witchcraft would not exist without rumor and gossip to be fear leaders in witch hunts. The fear that
gossip and rumor bring about in a community often snowballs into acts of irrevocable violence and
sometimes death, as is the case in The Virgin Suicides. Women have always been the targets of witch
hunts for two main reasons: one being that men were perceived as stronger than women, and
therefore,

The Table By Sylvia Plath Tone
The Table, written in 1998 by Ted Hughes, is a free verse poem communicating the idea of loss, using
the death of his wife, Sylvia Plath, as his form of expressing his experiences and interpretations of the
topic. The change of tone from the beginning to the end of the poem assists the idea of loss, as well as
the language used and the strong use of imagery. Ted Hughes wife, Sylvia Plath, struggled with
depression for most of her life. Hughes seems to be using this poem as an opportunity to convince the
reader of his desire to support her love of writing but it was through her writing that she was truly able
to express her own grief and loss and to eventually let her long dead father back into her life the result
being Hughes losing his wife to her father.
Feelings of loss and grief can occur after losing someone or something that you care about. ( What is
Loss and Grief ). This could include a range of things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem starts with a seemingly supportive husband, he is positive about helping her pursue her love
and talent of writing so he builds her a table to write on. He shortly transforms into a very confused
and lost man. He doesn t understand what is happening to his wife and doesn t know how to reach out
to her as he can t compete with her father. I embraced / Lady Death, your rival (Hughes, 36 37).
Hughes is signifying that he must accept that he has lost his wife, physically and emotionally and all
the plans and dreams they had for their lives. His tone begins to turn to anger and bitterness after her
passing. Hughes explains that he has all the props of a happy life around him but there is no her,
therefore there is no life anymore. He appears to blame the situation on Plath, saying that the script of
their lives is shredded as she allowed her father into their lives, allowed him to take her away
willingly, that she was the one who brought this underlying issue to

First English Parliament During The Industrial Revolution
7) Parliament comes into being (Jan. 20, 1265) After his victory at the Battle of Lewes over Henry III,
De Montfort seized power in England. Even though he was in control, De Montfort s grip on the
country was threatened. He summoned the barons and the county knights, along with burgesses from
major towns to join him January 20th in an attempt to gain more support. This was called De Montfort
s Parliament. They discussed reforms and were able to temporarily stabilize de Montfort s political
state. Unfortunately, later that year he was killed at the Battle of Evesham, but his idea of parliament
did not die out. Under reign of Edward I, the idea of inviting both knights and the burgesses to
parliament become more popular. By the 14th century, this became normal and it became known as
the House of Commons. This parliament sometimes in referred to as the First English parliament, and
de Montfort is most often deemed the founder of the commons. 8) Industrial Revolution (1760 1850)

With a multi branding strategy, a firm can combine its brands into the same location in order to increase sales and improve operating efficiency. In terms of industry profitability, it appears that profit margins have a tendency to fall. This is because competition is high and customers tend to buy low priced high value items. The average gross margin and net profit margin is 37.1% and 14.3%, respectively (MSN Money, 2010). Key Macro External Forces Socio cultural Today s society is becoming increasingly more health conscious. Consumers are aware of calories, obesity, sodium content and fatty food intake issues. Many restaurants have responded to the healthy eating trend by expanding the number of healthy food choices on their menus. A study found that American fast food chains increased their healthy menu items by 65% during the second quarter of 2009 to the second quarter of 2010 (Midday, 2010). Another important social factor is the desire to be socially responsible. More restaurants are going green by choosing local ingredients,

  • 4. The American Revolution Was A Political Revolution In the 1700s, Great Britain was the strongest empire economically; she had established many colonies as well as rivals in the New World. Most important was Britain s rivalry with France as it led to the Seven Year War. The war had drained the empire economically, causing it to place taxes on the colonies in the New World. In turn rebellions arose and led the colonies to declare independence. For the thirteen colonies the American Revolution began with its Declaration of Independence. The American Revolution was indeed a revolution, because its conclusion brought change. However, the American Revolution was a political revolution and but not a social revolution. The American Revolution was a political revolution because the values of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally the colonists were represented. The second form of Republicanism is defined by perceiving the nation as an organic whole composed of people nobly sacrificed for the common good for an individual s pursuit of rational self interest . This form of republicanism depicts the idea of nationalism in the colonies. The creation of a nation created patriotic pride within the colonies and a sense of equality. This was a change in value because the colonist were initially subjects of the king and now every colonist is a citizen and equal. Lastly, the third form of Republican government was more liberal since men who advanced towards this form wanted government to respond directly to the needs of ordinary folk, rejecting any notion that the lesser sort should automatically defer to their betters . This shows how common people had gained a say in government through voting. This is a change in value because before the colonist didn t have a say in the parliament. The American Revolution was a political revolution because it resulted with change in the way government was organized. In May 1776, before the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the Second Continental Congress met and decided to create a constitution before creating a new government. The creation of the constitution placed limitations on the fundamental structure of the government. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Categories Of Phobias Phobias have impacted millions of people just in the United States. Whether they or someone they know has a phobia, phobias have affected their lives somehow. Researchers have found various methods for treating these phobias, but still have not found the exact cause for the development of phobias. To help organize these phobias, researchers have created three main categories that group the phobias by the general subject of fear. As previously stated, researchers have not yet determined the cause of the development of phobias, but have narrowed it down to two main theories. With treatments, researchers have been a bit more successful with finding working treatments, however, there still aren t very many alternatives. Through the use of three broad categories of phobias, probable causes and treatments can be determined. The possible cause(s) of the development of phobias has been debated multiple times, but there are two leading theories, currently. Most researchers support either genetics or traumatic experiences. • 6. The Relationship Between Politics And Administration In... The idea of civil service dates back to ancient times. But bureaucracy is modern terms that evolved with the emergence of Public Administration as an academic field. Politics administration dichotomy is one of the most important factor in the Study of Public Administration by Woodrow Wilson in 1887 (Afegbua: 2013). Nature of administration, the extent of work by bureaucracy and many other issues are characterized by the relationship between politics and administration. Bangladesh has experienced different forms of government regime from military autocratic to democratic republic. Before liberation, it experienced government system under British Colonialism and government by Pakistan as it was part of Pakistan earlier. Due to the variation in the forms of government the relations between politics and administration were also different. The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) is one of the most important pillars of the National Integrity System having a key role in promoting excellence and integrity in the public service and administration of the country. PSC s independence, political neutrality, transparency, accountability, integrity and effectiveness are fundamental prerequisites for carrying out its functions which include holding of competitive examinations for recruitment to the public service, recommend recruitments, promotions, discipline, employee appeal and other related matters. • 7. Election Text Analysis Essay Election Text Messaging Content Strategy Guide Election Text Messaging Content Strategy Guide The next big idea in political campaigning is text messaging because operatives can reach supporters with timely messages that people open and read. The costs are negligible when compared with traditional advertising or even the low prices of email and social media campaigns. The only major risk is overusing the medium by sending too many texts. Sending about four messages a month is the maximum limit, and political campaigns should send at least two messages per month to keep supporters engaged. Elections turn on getting the voters attention, and no advertising strategy or medium does it better than a text message. Messages arrive directly on people s phones no matter where they may be or what they re doing. Almost everyone with a smartphone checks his or her messages regularly throughout the day. Mobile marketing is the easiest and most affordable way to promote a candidate, political party or cause. However, the key to success involves building a database of likely voters and supporters, energizing people with compelling content and distinguishing the candidate or cause from the opposition. • 9. Free Tutoring Is A Great Thing For The End Of The Day Essay Introduction A lot of parents would love to get their child the help they need for school, or extra help to get ahead if needed. Today there are a lot of tutoring programs out here, but all of them are not free. So, where does that leave the children and the parents who cannot afford these programs? It can leave that child at a lost because that child is not getting that extra help to become successful. Free tutoring is a great thing for several reasons. At the HOPE Academy they offer free tutoring for students who may cannot afford tutoring and are behind in their class. HOPE academy is making a differences in their kid s lives because it is not just tutoring at the end of the day. Social issues/challenges There are several social issues that pertains to my service learning, but the main issue I would say is getting the students the extra help that they need. Most of the students live in poverty or not the best of areas and getting access to the extra help for school are slim to none. Most of the students who come into the tutoring program at HOPE are not on their reading grade level or math grade level. This is nothing to come to be a shock because there are a lot of kids every year that fall behind their grade level. It seems to be the ones that do not live the best of areas. This is a serious issue because once a child is behind especially at a young age it can be very difficult to catch back up. Unfortunately, that child may never catch up to grade level if he or she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Big Bang Theory is just one of many shows that embraces ideologies and stereotypes that are found in culture today, such as cultural myths about geeks, culture, and women. The Big Bang Theory characterizes intellectuals, particularly men as unsexy, unpopular, bad athletes, unstylish, and social inept children looking for a mother figure. Here viewers are presented with several traits all popularly associated with young Jewish men. Penny is initially portrayed as a sweet, unintelligent individual who gets by on her good looks and charm rather than possessing a strong intellect or talents. The Perception of African Americans in the Media and How it Affects Their Self Identity There has been much debate over the perception of African Americans in the media and how it affects their self identity. It is easy to find examples of bias in portraying African Americans, but not a lot of causal research to prove that it causes problems with self identity. A case can even be made that the amount of media presence by African Americans, whether biased or un biased, has greatly helped to unify and give voice to a small minority group. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before 1787, of course, African Americans were slaves and only thought of as chattel. In 1787 the U.S. Constitution was ratified. It provided for the continuation of the slave trade for another 20 years and stipulated that a slave counted as three fifths of a man for purposes of representation by government. In 1865 some headway was gained when the Thirteenth Amendment was passed, outlawing slavery and establishing a Freedmen s Bureau to assist former slaves. Also in 1865 Union General, William T. Sherman issued a field order setting aside 40 acre plots of land in Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida for African Americans to settle. Yet, in 1866, all white legislatures in the former Confederate states passed the, so called, Black Codes sharply cutting the freedom of African Americans and virtually re enslaving the race. Since that time there have been many gains and set backs for African Americans. Given the history of the United States treatment of African Americans, it is easy to understand how they could struggle for their true identity. Perhaps James Jones (1991) says it best when he states, Black personality is in part an adaptation to the political contours of racism. • 13. The Railroad Bride Analysis Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks simple, but uses geometry and one point linear perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color orange and blue in both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride. He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object and the whole object by using geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that the boat is moving that way as well. The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the bridge. I believe the focal point is the new bridge for the train and new travels was is focal point in the picture. How did countries such as England and France establish their borders along the continent? Modern boundaries affected the world in numerous ways. The extensive Hundred Years War raged from 1337 to 1453 and played a key role in solidifying borders in Europe (Hundred Years War np). Conflict over the throne of France ignited a bitter war between England and France when English kings claimed their right to the French throne (Curry 3). There were breaks in the war that lasted for long periods of time, however, the issue of the monarchy of France still remained (Hundred Years War np). Another skillfully fought battle that occurred years later was the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 which resulted in another victory for the English (Curry 10). England s king, Henry V, intended to conquer more French land and capture the throne as the rightful king just as previous kings had done. The French army s heavy armor, cavalry, and overconfidence had led to their downfall in this battle, even though they outnumbered the English army (Curry 10). If the army had instead used their numbers more efficiently to overpower the English and advance their style of warfare, then the results would have been different. As stated in Battle of Agincourt , The English stood their ground as French knights, weighed down by their heavy armor, began a slow advance across the muddy battlefield. The French were met by a furious bombardment of artillery from the English archers (Battle of Agincourt np). A slow army would be easy to target and dwindle their numbers because the English archers could halt a cavalry charge from a distance. It was a time of change for the English and their army while the French army still used the feudal system of knights in this battle. Evidently, the feudal system was becoming obsolete as a result in the disadvantages it presented. Without England s advancement, the smaller army most likely would have not been able to capture more duchies of France. Possibly, the French army might have stopped the war entirely earlier on. Instead, the French stubbornly held onto traditional style of warfare that cost them battles against modern warfare tactics and the Hundred Years War ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Plastics And The Plastic Age The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (Cózar et al 2014). Plastic is synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive to produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and marine life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard rhythm, fuelling the plastic economy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based plastic debris, comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal (Derriak 2002). Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel 2016). These particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015). Microplastics have become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas (Obbard et al 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015). Plastic pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as well as massacring innocent marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017). Overall, preventing ocean plastic pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and contamination, particularly microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic. In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed of within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are: high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). These polymers account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most common plastics found in aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). Plastic debris often migrates to form five subtropical gyres, large garbage patches colloquially dubbed marine soup (Eriksen et al 2013; Weinstein 2009). It is a story about dreams forgotten and memories long gone. Yeats captured a feeling of longing in this poem that some people may never understand unless they have a relationship that is more to them than any other relationship they will ever have. When You Are Old talks about a woman who was loved by a man until he died. It is a story of how a life should be remembered by a person who loved another. When You Are Old is about the love of a man for a woman whom he had on a pedestal. He felt this woman was loved by many with a true and deep love and loved by others with a false love. He felt this woman was loved much like people today love celebrities. Yeats wrote about this woman as though he knew her intimately. He asks her to slowly read, and dream of the soft look, Your eyes had once and of their shadows deep (Yeats). He wants her to remember how things were in her youth. He wants her to remember her dreams and think of how things were and how they may have been. Yeats is asking her to take her time and day dream about her glory days. Without true success, humans have pinpointed possible influences and causes of misfortunes or tragedies within their communities. For many people in the 1600 s, witchcraft was a possible answer to a lack of success in pinpointing the cause of tragedies. Gossip was the the primary root in all such instances of witchcraft, weaving stories and accusations in private. These accusations of witchcraft did not end in the 17th century, but now hide under pseudonyms such as different or outsider in this day and age. The Lisbon sisters and Janie from The Virgin Suicides and Their Eyes Were Watching God, respectively, are modern day examples of how gossip can catalyze witch hunts to persecute and incite violence upon women who differ from the status quo. Janie and the Lisbon sisters possess many characteristics often attributed to witches: sexual deviance, religious discord, and they are each outsiders in their community. Witch craft is heavily influenced by rumor and gossip in the sense that witchcraft would not exist without rumor and gossip to be fear leaders in witch hunts. The fear that gossip and rumor bring about in a community often snowballs into acts of irrevocable violence and sometimes death, as is the case in The Virgin Suicides. Women have always been the targets of witch hunts for two main reasons: one being that men were perceived as stronger than women, and therefore, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
