LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can

2. David Peter Reimer Research Paper
David Peter Reimer was a Canadian boy born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 22, 1965. David s
parents noticed he had an unusual way of urinating. He was diagnosed with Phimosis at
approximately six months of age. David was taken to the hospital at eight months for the standard
procedure of circumcision. During the procedure, the physician accidentally burned David s penis
far beyond surgical repair. The cause was due to an electrocautery needle that was used instead
of the usual scalpel. After the unfortunate procedure, a psychologist named John Money, who
oversaw the case, suggested David have a sex change performed to fix the problem of the burnt
off penis. David s parents were distressed and were uncertain whether or not to go along with the
sex change. They eventually decided to agree with the procedure after constant persuasion from
John Money and other medical staff. David ended up having the sex change while John Money
selfishly oversaw the case and used David Reimer as a private study. His belief was that... Show

Video games have evolved from the early age of retro gaming where half of the time is spent

However, there is a drawback to this advancement, such games cannot be created without massive
funding and hundreds of developers. Many gamesalso future online servers which need to be kept

monetization methods in their games. Such tactics started appearing in many AAA games such as

Some say loot boxes help a game more than it harms them by providing the developers with more
resources thus, bringing more content to the game without charging unwilling players for it.
Massive online games are more demanding because of the cost of maintaining a server for
several years, and a source of continuous revenue can help offset those costs. One example of this
is the very popular Call of Duty series, a yearly series made by Activision. The 2004 title Call of
Duty 2 costs $ 14.5 million to develop, while the 2011 title Call of Duty: Elite costs $50 million to

getting something in return. In contrast to charging all players for the content which causes a
fractured community. For instance, if a game releases a new expansion pack, all players who are
not willing to spend are split from the rest of the community and cannot experience the content.
With the rising costs of development, the entry price of games has remained

Mark Twain
Mark Twain is believed to be the father of all American literature. Twain was known for writing

of the very first modernist writers. Mark Twain had many inspirations that motivated him to write
his novels. The inspirations varied from events that he witnessed and experienced, people he met in
his lifetime, other stories he read or heard about, and his environment. The writer known as, Mark

wealth, mining silver in the deserts of Nevada. Samuel Langhorne Clemens was a completely

journalism. He was employed by the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise. In the years that he was
employed by the Territorial Enterprise, Clemens developed his abilities as a reporter and
humorist. In 1863, while still employed by the Territorial Enterprise, Clemens adopted the
pseudonym Mark Twain which is a riverboat term meant two fathoms deep. Clemens made a
gradual change to using Mark Twain as his official pen name. The name Mark Twain gave
Clemens the confidence and freedom to make his writing more humoristic. Due to his new
confidence and humorist style Twain began a rivalry with another local journalist. The rivalry
eventually caused Twain to flee Virginia City or lose his life in a pistol duel to the rival
journalist. Twain relocated in San Francisco, where he continually attacked the metropolis
government, which caused him to flee to a nearby settlement from the city s police force. Twain

9. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Psychological Disorders
A psychological disorder is defined as a behavior that exhibits a collection of symptoms that
cause stress and/or disability to an individual. These disorders can range from alcohol and
substance abuse to Alzhiemer s and schizophrenia. Studies show that about 46% of the United
States population suffers from a mental disorder some time in their life. There are many forms
of treatment available, as the effects of these disorders cause distress and suffering not only to
the individual, but for those around them too. The two main forms of treatment are biomedical
therapy and verbal therapy. Biomedical therapies are medicinal drugs administered to a patient
by a psychiatrist. Verbal therapies are talk sessions that a patient has with a psychologist. The
prescription of drugs is the most common type of treatment in resolving psychological disorders.
Based on a study done by the National Center for Health Statistics, the usage of psychiatric drugs,
more specifically antidepressant drugs, went up 400% in the span of just twenty years. This may
be because medications are seen as an answer to people s prayers. People think that they re fast
and they ll cure anything and everything, making people feel normal again. Therapy could be quite
expensive when compared to medication, making individuals choose drugs over therapy. Another
reason for more people wanting to use medication could be that there are many commercials on TV
and on the radio advocating for medicinal drug usage, but

/Attention: Violent video games have been in market for a few decades. Although researchers
have not proven that playing violent video games directly leads to violent behaviors such as
shooting, killing or fighting, I strongly believe that violent video games must be banned
because: a)They have negative impacts on children and adolescents, and the influences are very
significant, which may result in a violent society. b)So many tragic incidents related to violent
video games happens around the world, leaving regret and anger among the public. c)They also

The Homestead strike in 1892 was the first major strike to take place after the downfall of the

agree, the receipt handed over by Claude would have taken place after the payment was accepted
and therefore the clause was introduced in a belated manner as the judges in the previously

The novel The Bean Trees follows the lives of Taylor Greer, and her housemate Lou Ann Ruiz as

The Small Man Who Led a Big Nation
Mahatma Gandhi was a national icon for the people of India between the years 1869 and 1948.
He is still remembered all over the world today. To follow the path of Gandhi one must traverse all
regions of India, from the houses of the highest officials to the poorest villages where the word
poverty does injustice. Gandhi led a fearless resistance against the British government, that
oppressed his people, and an endless pilgrimage to lift the spirits of his people(the people of India)
to maturity. Gandhi was very unique in his approach as he preached non violence and led a life
similar to that of the most downtrodden people of India.

Gandhi interacted with a diversified group of Indians while in Africa. He learned about many
different injustices Indians suffered from in Africa and in India. As his beliefs in satyagraha
solidified his reputation began to spread into India. It was about this time in 1914 that Gandhi
returned to India.
The people of India, who were discouraged with Britain s policies, eagerly waited for Gandhi s
return. They had been showing dissent towards the government on a small scale, but they needed
Gandhi s political initiative and leadership. The British would not share industrial secrets, levied
high taxes, restricted industrial investment, and limited any kind of economic advancement for the
Indians.(Spodek 667). Gandhi began to assist several protests that had been initiated against the
British and got the Indians to participate in hartals. These hartals are similar to sit down strikes. At
one sit down in 1919 the Indians were protesting the Rowlatt Acts. The British decided that they
would show their power and killed 379 people and injured over1100. This is when Gandhi and all
of India proclaimed non cooperation with Britain.
This action by the British led to two things: a new vigorous political movement and a grassroots
spiritual revival, both led by Gandhi. Gandhi rallied his Congress and people into a mass
movement. He emerged as a leader offering new

22. The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Since its inception in 1982 the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, very much like its
primary architect Pierre Trudeau, has been one of the most celebrated yet controversial elements of
Canadian politics and governance. Revealing how this dynamic emerged requires a nuanced
understanding of the motivation behind the Charter and the techniques it employed to succeed. The
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, like the entire patriation process, was motivated by and
mobilized support through, constitutionally enshrining democratic core values, multiculturalism
and a sense of nationalism. However, it should not be seen as merely a symbolic gesture on the
part of Britain and Canadaor merely a strengthening of core values. Instead it was a fundamental
reinvention of Canadian federalism that shifted power away from the provinces to the federal
government and from the Parliament to the courts. This was accomplished by incentivizing
provincial acceptance, developing common interests, and, as a result, formalizing a national
identity where the protection and expansion of core values was encouraged as fundamental. This
dynamic allowed the reinvention to, by and large, succeed. An understanding of the provisions and
effects of the Charter and how it ultimately succeed as a re invention of the Canadian Government
requires knowledge of the patriation process. Before 1982, the formal power to amend the
Canadian Constitution was held by the British Parliament. This was seen

23. The Importance Of Reward Enhances Motivation And Motivation
DISCUSSION
The aim of this experiment was to test whether or not reward enhances motivation, therefore
enhancing results of performance.
My hypothesis stated that results would be inconclusive due to subjects being self motivated and
happy to do their best. I thought that this no effect on their performances. I took consideration into
realising that subjects may not be self motivated and needed a reward to spur them on to performing
at their best. I could not underestimate the chance of choking under pressure and this could lead to
inconclusive differing results. The test result showed no real change in stats, due to lack of subject
numbers, it was difficult to determine whether or not motivation and performance was enhanced
through reward. However Figure 2 above did indicate a change in performance leaning towards
more success when reward was a part of the experiment at an average of hitting two free throws
out of ten, compared to motivation averages of two point seven out of ten. Table 1 shows a mixed
bag of results in terms of performance, many subjects produced better performances with the
reward at stake, compared to those who had no real change to their performance outcome. A few
subjects were in the early cognitive stage of learning when it came to performing the skill to a level
where they hit zero shots from the free throw line. This weighed done the motivation score averages
quite heavily and it appears that motivation was much the same as the non motivational

You re an attorney. Be proud. Your job is to find justice, no matter how well she may hide herself

plays a very wise former lawyer from Joel Shumacher s 1996 film, A Time To Kill. Jake

Hailey. Carl Lee is a black man accused of murdering two white men who raped and attempted to

That something is the truth. Now it is incumbent upon us lawyers not to just talk about the truth,
but to actually seek it, to find it, to live it. What is it in us that seeks the truth? Is it our minds, or
is it our hearts? In his final defense, Jake makes a very valid point. The reputation of lawyers
leads many people to believe that all they want is to win the case, regardless of the consequence
that it may put upon the community. Though sometimes this can be true, Jake tells the
courtroom that the job of a lawyer is to find the truth. That task may sound easy, but when
considering all the influence from the media, people who lie to influence the case, and unclear
information, it can be hard to find the truth in a web of lies. An attorney s job is to inform the
jury of true events so that they can make a proper judgment. During his pain and suffering
caused by the loss of his daughter, Carl Lee loses his sanity and attacks the two boys, killing
them and injuring an officer who is also a friend. He did not mean to injure the officer, thereby
proving his actions were out of control and not what he would do in a normal state of mind. Jake
helps the jury see that it is not fair to judge Carl Lee simply by his act on killing the two boys. He
shows them that they must look at the entire picture. Carl Lee was not himself when he committed

25. Lucky, By Alice Sebold
At some point in their life, every person has been told to walk in somebody else s shoes because
they need to be aware of the struggles that other people face, but it is often tough for people to
understand things outside of the scope of their own practical knowledge. In her memoir, Lucky,
Alice Sebold suffers from this same problem. Throughout the course of her narrative, Sebold
thinks of her experience as something that is accessible to be understood by outsiders; in addition
to this, Sebold paints her reactions and experiences as a model that she can apply to other victims
of sexual assault. Even though Sebold s story is one of strength in the face of horrible
occurrences, her lack of acknowledgement in regards the ways in which other people s
consciousness and coping mechanisms differ from her own makes it far more difficult to
sympathize with her than it should be considering the content of her memoir. Evidence of her
closed world understanding can be seen from the beginning of the memoir, when she reports her
sexual assault to the police (Sebold, 3), later in the narrative, when other people react to her
experiences and related feelings (Sebold 146), and finally, and perhaps most significantly, when
her close friend Lila undergoes a sexual assault (Sebold 220). To begin, in the memoir Lucky,
Alice Sebold makes a powerful start to her writing by telling the reader about what happened to
her, and, later in that same initial paragraph, she clarifies the reason for

A potential problem with this strategy is with a large, non targeted marketing push, 75% of
audience the company would be targeting is not purchasing paint. Based on the company s
standard of recovering the costs within a year, if the company doubles its advertising costs, sales
should show a significant increase and there is no guarantee of this.
Reduce price by 20%
By reducing the price, Jones Blair will be more competitive with other brands. Right now, Jones
Blair is prices significantly higher than all other brands and when a consumer sees the brands side
by side at a store, they may not realize the higher quality of Jones Blair paint, just the higher price
and immediately select against.
A major issue is since reducing the price 20% reduces the profit margin to 15%, to maintain the
same profit while reducing the price, the sales must be $28 million for this year. This is an
increase of 233% in one year to justify reducing the price this much. This is a highly unlikely target.
Another potential problem is Jones Blair could lose the consumer s perception of the company
being high quality, high customer focused. Jones Blair has continually put focus on being the
leader in quality and customer satisfaction and if the company s prices are the same as all the other
brands, what makes Jones Blair stand out?
28. Who Is Blanche s Delusions In A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche Dubois, A Portrayal of Her Delusional Reality Most people can think of a dream of what
they want to do in their lives. It is common for people to dream of their perfect life. For some it s
being the next big star on a television show or the person that cures cancer. These dreams are what
motivate people, and throughout A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche Duboisportrayed herself as a
very pure woman whom, like many, failed to achieve her dreams. Because of this, she was
haunted by her failures. From Blanche s devastating past, her heart broke, and she needed an
escape. She attempted to fill the emptiness in her heart with delusions in her head. To begin,

One main way to understand Blanche s delusion would be the themes throughout the play
demonstrated through the names of certain key aspects of their world. The first introduced
example of this would be the streetcar named Desire. Desire was the reason Blanche moved to
Stella s home and ironically, the way she arrived. Desire was consistently alluded to throughout
the play. Blanche s past was full of desire, but her time at the Kowalski s was presented with
desire as well. From Mitch to Stanley, to Blanche living the extravagant lifestyle that she
retained, Blanche desired a life that she did not have access to. After she ruined her reputation
with sexual encounters and the epic fornications of her family to lose Belle Reve, Blanche had
no where to turn. Belle Reve was another large theme throughout the play. Belle Reve or
beautiful dream was where Blanche and Stella were raised. Stella was able to move on and
marry Stanley. Blanche, after her husband s death, wasn t able to cope and depended on her
family at Belle Reve. The beautiful dream became Blanche s escape. George Hovis presented a
counter argument to what Blanche needed an escape from. He argued that Blanche was aware
of how she was being seen by men, therefore put on a charade of still being in her sexual prime.
Hovis stated, [Blanche Dubois like Amanda Wingfield and Lucretia Collins were] aware that she
[was] beyond what culture consider[ed] to be her prime and therefore engage[d] in an elaborate
scheme of denial, which involve[d] a repetition of some critical moment from the past that
mark[ed] a missed opportunity (Hovis, 175). Hovis s claim that Blanche s elaborate scheme was
based on denial of no longer being in her prime rests upon the questionable assumption that
Blanche was beyond her prime based solely on age. Blanche was beyond her prime, however, a
better explanation for her ruse would be that

Martha (Miller 71). At the time in the play when this line is said Martha Corey was being kept

be witchcraft books. Francis tells Danforth that this is a mistake that his wife was a believer and

Elizabeth the people in the community should have seen this whole trial was a lie. Two of the
women that are looked up to in the community arrested for an accusation, it s unbelievable the

trials by some character such as these being targets. The people knew they were honest women
and yet they were still questioned. Some of the characters were to prideful to admit these
actions were wrong. Secondly the jealousy inside this play was one of the strongest roles to
make the story what it was. Jealousy symbolizes how the trials started and also why so many

Definition of Technology: Hazardous or Honest?
Leo Marx, once a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Harvard graduate, wrote
an article titled Technology The Emergence of a Hazardous Concept . In this article, the author
explores the modern day definition of the word technology and argues that technology offers too
broad of a definition and is ill fitting to describe all technical advancements and their creators.
Technology can be defined as the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of

subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science (dictionary.com). On the

In simpler terms, Lukacs is saying that there is so much to the word technology that it all should
not be confined into one. He also believes, like Marx, that human involvement is not credited
enough. Marx also refers to Lukacs definition of reification: is what occurs when we endow a
human activity with the characteristics of a thing or things (Lukacs, 83 87). Marx proceeds to
argue that technologies are represented by things. For instance, Marx says that when someone
hears transportation technology what comes to mind are things like automobiles, airplanes, and
trains. This, in some way, distracts the person from the human involvement. Let s take an
automobile for an example. Say you have a Prius. Often times when someone talks about a car,
we think a lot about the brand. It is a well known fact that the Prius is made by Toyota. It also is
obvious that Toyota is a company made up of people who come up with ideas for cars and put them
into action. Therefore, when someone thinks about a car, they also think about the company. This
proves that we do acknowledge the fact that human creation is a huge part of technology. Marx
insists that technologies are viewed and put into a category of things . Nonetheless, it can be said
that Marx argument is invalid. Human involvement in technology is not only implied, but it simply
would not exist without humans. As stated in the above paragraph, it is clear that technology
cannot produce itself. Even when we cover the topic of technology in a history class for example,
we learn about the creation, who created, and what it does. As an illustration, think of a telephone.

James Petras states, We must reconsider the profound psychological impact of state violence,
political terror, and the deep penetration of cultural / ideological values propagated by the

belief that they are superior to the oppressed nation and its people. James Petras goes on to say,
The state violence of the 1970s and early 1980s created long term, large scale psychic damage fear

Culture violence intersect in many different situations both through direct and indirect contact. The
two can be observed in multiple settings but I am going to focus on the violence that occurs within
Intimate Relationships, particularly between a man and woman, and how women assume the role
of the submissive partner. I will talk about how different cultural feelings, religions and exposure to
intimate partner violencecan be an example of culture and violence intersecting by observing the
threatening interactions in a violent relationship. This includes violence in societies such as New
Zealand which is heavily frowned upon, to other parts of the world where violence is encouraged.

Scientists have found a way to reverse type 1 diabetes. They pre treated blood stem cells to

While drugs that inhibit cancer such as Tecentriq by Genentech are effective in fighting some

because it prevents T cells from recognizing and attacking cancer, is instrumental in crippling
autoreactive T cells that destroy cells which produce insulin, Fierce Biotech reported.

this Article, Farhad Manjoo examines how people are too lazy to finish reading online articles
because of the habits they have produced over time. For example, he provides charts and
statistics that support that people are too lazy to finish reading articles: Schwartz tells me that
on a typical Slate page only 25 percent of readers make it past the 1,600th pixel of the page
(Manjoo 2). We have developed habits that make us lazy. For instance, we skim articles to find
an answer for a homework question and then we stop once we find an answer and write it down.
Since we do this over and over, it leads to lazy habits, which all stem from the

37. The Greatest Composer Of All Time
Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Hayden are well known
composers, but Beethoven is the greatest composer of all time. Everyone has heard the name
Beethoven before. Why is he one of the greatest composer of all time? The answer is easy. He
influenced so many composers after he died. Just like how Michael Jackson influenced other
artists when he passed away. He made a huge impacted during the classical period and to the
world. His music was influenced into the next centuries, and he is considered to be the best
composer of all time.
Ludwig Van Beethovenwas born December 1770 in Boon, Germany. His date of birth is

The trip to Vienna was really short lived because his mother, Maria Magdalena Beethoven was
very ill and died. His sister also died and he had to take care of his two brothers. Later on, he went
back to Vienne because he was studying with Joseph Hayden. Hayden saw Beethoven in Boon and
made him go to Vienne. Beethoven and Hayden relationship didn t last long because he didn t like
the way how Hayden teach (Budden). Beethoven would studied Counterpoint and slowly made a
name for himself in Vienne.
First of all, his works were broken into three periods. The first period was mostly classical that he
learns from Mozart and Hayden. He mostly played his piano. His early works includes the Op.18
String Quartets and piano sonata. His third symphony was once dedicated to Napoleon, but when
Napoleon became the Emperor of France. He wasn t a big fan of him anymore. Now, there is
whole in the paper, when he was trying to get rid of Napoleon name. (Budden). The second
period was his peak year. He uses a lot of Romantic references, and he wanted his works to fit the
18th century. His harmony were much easier than Mozart, and his slow moment became really
short. During his second period, his works includes the Fourth Symphony to the Eight Symphony
(Budden). The third period was personal to him because he was having a crisis in his life. He
would use more counterpoint in his music, and he would his knowledge to increase his range to his

38. The Effects Of Torture On Human Rights Violations
Although the use of torture has been around since the first century, most Americans did not debate
on the controversial topic until after the Abu Ghraib incident surfaced in April 2004. The Baghdad
Central Prison, formerly known as Abu Ghraib prison was a complex west of Baghdad. During the
war in Iraq, US armed forces committed a number of human rightsviolations, including pouring
phosphorus liquid on detainees, pouring cold water on naked detainees, beating detainees (Hersh)
and committing other psychological, physical, and sexual abuses. At the Abu Ghraib prison,
military officials abused detainees for several reasons or without providing a reason. Enhanced
interrogation techniquesare sometimes seen as necessary to extract information, punish detainees,
and instill fear; however, occasionally torture is used without providing a reason. Proponents of
torture insist its legitimacy in special circumstances, especially when handling international
terrorists. Opponents of torture believe these human rights violations are medieval and inhumane.
Torture is illegal in the United States and no United States agency can legally engage in torture
abroad. No country should engage in enhanced interrogation techniques because the methods are a
violation of ethical principles, a violation of international law, a form of cruel and unusual
punishment, ineffective in combating terrorism, and immoral, dehumanizing acts related to a lack
of moral integrity.

It has been said that pre numerical counting systems pre dated the written language. Business
accounting is rooted in the organization of monetary claims throughout the history of the Western
civilization, developing even before the ancient accountants could note the mathematical entries.
Beginning in Mesopotamia around 3500 B.C, and developing throughout the 14th century in
Europe, accounting has become one of the largest advancements in the Western world. This long
standing form of collaborating financial data has evolutionalized the way we approach business in
the 21st century. While today s accountants are involved in the analysis of financial data and the
auditing of cash flow through a corporation, this hasn t always held true. The... Show more content

Often, for precaution, the trade was again written in the outercrust of the tablet so that no other
alterations could be made. Ancient Europe held an accounting system similar to that of the
Mesopotamian community. Here they used a form of papyrus, a paper material made from the stem
of a water plant, instead of the clay tablets that were much less plentiful in this area. Accountants in
this part of the western world were typically associated with a specific store or trade business, and
were evaluated extensively by an internal verification system within the corporation for which they
were accredited in order to implement a more detailed accounting transaction built upon honesty
and credibility of those calculating. While Egyptians made thousands of trades regarding gold and
silver, they referred to each as an exchange of goods rather than ascribing value to the item. This
made the calculating and recording different commodities in different credit terms very difficult.
According to public records, ancient Greece used accountants for personal monetary organization
and to maintain authority of governmental finances. It s systematic process equipped with leaders
was evident in the Athens Popular Assembly, who ratified all decrees regarding financial matters in
the state. This assembly met every ten days to discuss events regarding Athenian code and allowed
citizens to attend and vote on commissioned decisions made in government. Perhaps Greece s most

40. The Metamorphosis Analytical Essay
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka can be interpreted in many different ways. Considering the
story from a psychological perspective, one could compare reading The Metamorphosis to a
psychiatrist or psychologist listening to their patient converse about their day, or life. In Jerome S.
Gans analysis Narrative Lessons for the Psychotherapist, he compares the effect the author s story
has on the therapist reader versus the effect that the patient s narrative has on the therapist (Gans
352). Gans states that not every reader experiences a novel or book in the same way, much like a
therapist consulting a patient. A different reader may have a different view or opinion on the book,
whereas a different therapist may have different techniques... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Unfortunately, after a while she seems to resent Gregor and his hideous transformation. Slowly,
the reader can see the dehumanization that occurs when Grete considers Gregor. Toward the
end, Gregor wishes to hear his sister play the violin and scurries out from his room, disturbing
his family and the tenants of the household. His sister, who had been almost kind in her
treatment of Gregor in the beginning, turned monstrous. We must get rid of it, cried the sister
again, that s the only thing for it, Father. You just have to put from your mind any thought that it
s Gregor. Our continuing to think that it was, for such a long time, therein lies the source of our
misfortune (Kafka 1232). His sister did not originally feel this way, she was the first person to
bring her brother food, and attempt to please him with different food. After a while, she stopped
caring whether or not her brother ate, and stopped caring as to what he preferred to eat. Why does
her attitude change? Does she resent having to take care of Gregor? Does she feel as though it is
her responsibility to help him? When does she feel that the vermin is no longer her brother? Such
questions may swarm the readers mind, much like a therapist questions a patients

River and finds work carving tombstones; consequently, he does not know the citizens well enough
to know if they speak the truth or are making a last effort to glorify their deceased loved ones. In

truth. Initially, he is emotionally isolated; however, Mr. Bone chooses to venture out of his comfort
zone and into the community where he learns the truths and complexities that compose the citizens
of Spoon River. This leads one to assume that when he found himself unhappy with his seclusion he
sought to change his situation, a worthwhile decision. As he lives among them he becomes privy to
the truthfulness of the epitaphs, but continues to carve the false eulogies although one can infer
that Bone does this partially to keep his standing in the community, as not to return to his state of
isolation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

44. The New Face of Black Feminine Beauty Essay
The New Face of Black Feminine Beauty
Since the early 1900s, Black women have had a fascination with their hair. More explicitly, they
have had a fascination with straightening their hair. The need to be accepted by the majority class
has caused them to do so. Though the image of straight hair as being better than coarse hair still
hasn t left the Black community, there has been a surge of non straight hairstyles since the nineteen
sixties. Wearing more natural hairstyles, which ironically enough include weaves and hair
extensions has been considered to be more empowered and more enlightened. However, this image
comes with a price, and though it appears the natural hairstyle movement has advanced Black
women, it has actually set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The model is drawn because a real life model would be perceived to be fake, air brushed, etc. The
colorlessness of the drawing creates the scene of a universal Black woman. Also, the drawn picture
doesn t get into the light/dark color complex. The light/dark color complex is another ideological
problem in the Black community. Lighter Blacks (especially women) were perceived to be more
attractive, more intelligent, and more acceptable to the White community. Darker skinned Blacks
were perceived to be the opposite. This was deposited upon the culture during the slave era. Hair
texture also became an issue within the Black community, as lighter, straighter hair was perceived
to be nicer, and coarse, thick hair was perceived to be bad, ugly. The afro movement in the 60 s
challenged this ideology. In the 60 s, natural hair meaning coarse and thick, began to signify
intelligence, Black power, and resistance to the majority culture, overall enlightenment. This image
was reborn in the late 1990s. Newer options for natural hairstyles and the increasing acceptance of
dreadlocks reinitiated a type of anti chemically relaxed hair movement. Refusing to put chemicals in
one s hair (chemicals referring to those used to straighten one s hair) meant refusing to cater to the
slave mentality of light skinned, straight haired beauty. However, the connection between natural
hair and soulful, enlightened, etc, only works if one s
