The essay discusses death and how humans view it. It argues that humans have an unnatural view of death as something that must be prevented and avoided. However, death is a natural part of life for all species and something that shapes ecosystems. The author believes humans should accept death as natural and not try to artificially prolong life through medical intervention. While medicine can help people live longer, it is distorting human perception of death. Overall, the essay makes the case that death should be accepted as a normal part of the life cycle, rather than seen as something clinical that must be fought at all costs.

The document discusses the Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes, in which the women of various city-states, led by Lysistrata, withhold sex from their husbands in order to force the men to end the long-running Peloponnesian War. It analyzes how the play provides an authentic representation of women in Classical Greece through its depictions of different age groups of women, the control women had over their own sexuality compared to men, and women acting outside their traditional domestic roles.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. The Pearl Of The World
A pearl is conventionally associated with wealth and prosperity. Like a philosopher s stone, the
pearl is believed to convert sorrows into happiness. Kino, a pearl diver and his wife, Juana, along
with their son, Coyotito, are a poverty stricken family until they discover the greatest pearl in the
world. (19) With hopes and dreams for themselves and their son s future, Kino and Juana perceive
this pearlto be a resolution for all of their troubles. After finding the Pearlof the World, (22) Kino is
plagued with vexation. His benevolence and good intentions are soon overcome by his greed. The
collective rapacity of Kino and other people precipitates misfortune and violence around Kino. This
eventually leads to Coyotito s death. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, as the story progresses and he discovers the Pearl of the World, (p22) Kino tries to sell it so
that he can rise above his poverty and procure a better life for his son. Kino s newfound
motivation to ameliorate his family s conditions alienates him from others including his wife.
Driven by the new Song of Evil (p5) and the music of the enemy, (p5) Kino finds himself making
extraordinary sacrifices to attain tangible wealth. Juana, because of her strong instincts, senses
the evil vibes coming off of the pearl and concludes that it is like sin (p38) and that it will
destroy (p38) them. Kino, however, is oblivious to the pearl s negative effect as he assumes the
pearl to be their only chance. (p38) Social structures such as the family, the village, and the town
are central to the pearl. However, the central unit, for Kino and Juana is their family. They make
sacrifices for each other and their son Coyotito. Kino and Juana s dedication towards their son
Coyotito is most evident through their wish for him to go to school (p25) and break out of the
pot that holds (p39) them in. Although Kino s family life is threatened upon the discovery of the
pearl, much of its damage is caused by the individualistic greed of the people surrounding them.
The doctor, (p7) the priest, (p27) the neighbors, (p8) and the pearl buyers (47) all equally
contribute to Kino and his family s downfall. The doctor (p7) and the priest (p27) are

3. Prison Reform in the United States of America
Prison Reform in The United States of America It is said that no one truly knows a nation until
one has been inside its jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens,
but its lowest ones (Nelson Mandela, 1994). The United States of America has more people
behind bars than any other country on the planet. The prisons are at over double capacity. It cost a
lot of money to house prisoners each year. A large number of the prisoners are there because of
drug related offenses. There are prisoners who have been sent to prisonfor life for marijuana related
drug offenses. Many prisoners have been exonerated after spending many years behind bars due to
the corruption in our legal system. 32 States in United States of... Show more content on

The perplexing thing is that many of these States are willing to spend vast amounts of money to
house prisoners for many years but will spend less than half on education. Because over a quarter of
the prisoners incarcerated are there from drug related offenses, then it seems like the states could
save a lot of money if drug policies were geared towards rehabilitation instead of incarceration.
Overall they would be able to save billions of dollars. The demographics of the prison population in
America are very discouraging with a very high unbalanced proportion of the prison population
being African American. Although approximately 12% to 13% of the American population is
African American, African Americans make up over 40% of the prison population. This number is
so unusually disproportionate that many critics believe that the African American community is
judged harsher than it would the Hispanics or the Caucasians. The same critics also believe that it
is because many of the policies related to incarceration were designed specifically to target the
African American community. Mandatory minimum sentences for drug offenses were directly
targeted towards these communities. Much of the time drug enforcement officers go into the
African American communities and set up sting operations that entrap

The music changes now as the musicians start to play a march. The dancers then remove the flower

canes upside down holding them as if they were guns and start marching off stage. Simultaneously,
the lights turn dark blue on stage and the dancers faces turn serious. Their once extravagant and
lighthearted movement is now stiff and somewhat serious. The audience however, laughs at this
shift in theme. All the dancers march off stage except the center girl, she continues to march in a
circle making faces and poking fun at the others. Finally, she leaves the stage laughing loudly and

Those created by John Tiller and the other created by Laurence Tiller. Elswit explains that even
though the groups were led by different people they both wanted to produce the same outcome,
unison. The signature synchronization became a potent image of Weimar visual culture
(Elswit, 51). Fosse s choreography was primarily based on the principle of unison within this
piece. Elswit argues that the group was created as a way of responding to the industrialization of
America. The girls were often mistaken for being an American group because of this aspect. As
a result the choreographic elements were inspired by the creation of factories. Fosse s
choreography was inspired by these events as he adhered strict machine like formations of
dancers within the piece. Each formation was linear and showed order. Elswit also says that the
use of the term Girls to refer to female dancers (Elswit, 52), was also selected in order to
exaggerate the rise of mass produced products for them to buy (Elswit, 52). Elswitt sheds light onto

6. Euro Disney
1 Introduction В– Euro Disney s Plans and Reality
When the International Offer of Shares for the Euro Disneyland S.C.A. (in the following called
Euro Disney) was published in October 1989 the plans for this new enterprise of the Walt Disney
group were ambiguous. The financial plans for the first year of operation projected total revenues
of FF 5,482 million and a net profit after taxation of FF 204 million. For the following years the
development should be even more impressive. At that time the plans were seen as a consequent
application of the concepts of the existing Disney designed theme parks.[1]
Just a short time after Euro Disney was opened in time on April 1992 it was obvious that reality
would not meet the plans. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reasons all conclusions given below should be evaluated carefully. For a more detailed
analysis additional information would be necessary[4].
To be able to make a general statement this report will compare the plans for the first and second
year of operation with the financial years ending September 30th 1992 and 1993. At least the last
one will provide the opportunity to compare two periods of twelve months of operation. This
comparison is provided in appendices 1 to 3. With a stress on the second year В– as explained
above В– the following conclusions can be drawn:
В· In the first year Euro Disney nearly met expectations for revenues and operating expenses of the
Magic Kingdom. With no operating profit from the resort and property development sector and
higher than planned general and administrative costs it failed to meet the profit projection by FF
392 Mio.
В· In the second year again revenues from the Magic Kingdom reached the planned level but
operating expenses for this exceeded plans so that the operating profit was below expectations.
В· Again there was no significant operating profit from the resort and property development
operations.
В· Lease, general and administrative expenses far exceeded plans.
В· As a result the profit before exceptional profit and taxation missed plans by FF 2,332 Mio.
A more detailed analysis is given in appendix 4.

gallinaceous birds of the family numididae, which is original to Africa. The fowls develop their
names from Guinea, part of the West Coast of Africa. The related to other game birds such as the
pheasants, turkeys and partridges; they have a long history of domestication. According to Alfred J.

twenty eight inches. They can weight up to between 1.5 to 3.5 pounds. Guinea fowl have an life

Some of the steps you want to start with are, preheating the oven to 400 degrees and making sure
you have all the ingredients ready. Step 1, place the guinea hen in an iron skill large enough for it
to fit. The ingredients you will need are, 4 teaspoons olive oil, Вѕ teaspoons sea salt, ВЅ teaspoon
ground black pepper, 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves, 3 cloves garlic with skin left on and
lightly crushed, and 1 cup chicken broth. Using your hands, rub 2 teaspoons of the olive all over
the bird, inside and out. Season again all over with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with thyme leaves
and scatter the garlic cloves around the pan. Step 2, place in the oven and roast fifthteen
minutes. Dizzle with the remaining olive oil and roast, basting every ten minutes with a pan
dripping, until a thermometer inserted in the thickest part of the thigh reads 160 degrees; this
should take about 40 to 50 minutes. Step 3, remove the hen from the oven and transfer to a
cutting borad. Drain excess fat (leaving some) from the pan and place over medium high heat.
Pour in the chicken broth. Using a wooden spoon, scrape up the pan drippings and bring to a
boil. Reduce until the sauce is syrupy. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cut the hen into 6 pieces and
pour the juices from the cutting board back into the sauce. Serve on a platter and pass the sauce
with a big spoon.
I feel that the guinea fowl is a very special type of wild bird. The guinea fowl are a better choice
when choosing food to eat. Since they have somewhat more protein and there eggs are richer. The
guinea fowl can be a great investment for farms. It will eat any insects and protect the production
and sustainability of the crops that the farmers

8. What Is The Importance Of Japanese Culture
The world is full of different cultures. It is so interesting to study the different ways people live
their lives. Cultures are so diverse that normal habits done on a regular basis in one culture may be
considered taboo in another culture. This essay will discuss how the Japanese culture differs from
my culture, and it will also examine the importance of studying another culture.
First, I want to cover some of the major differences between the Japanese culture and my own,
and then get to some of the smaller differences. The first major difference is the religion;
Buddhism and Shintoism make up 84% of the Japanese religion. The item that intrigued me was
the fact that religion in Japan is more of a set of rules and rituals to follow now and then. There
is not much daily involvement in religion like there is in America; whether it is Christian,
Catholic, or Muslin, each religion involves prayer and worship to a certain degree on more of
daily or weekly basis. Next, the Japanese food is much different. Most Japanese meals have rice in
some form or another and the Japanese generally eat with chopsticks. When eating at a restaurant
there are many differences to consider. A wet towel is given to a customer when he is first seated
at a restaurant to wash his hands. When sushi is the meal it is acceptable to eat use hands and not
chop sticks. When eating noodles, it is acceptable to make slurping noises. When you are finished
with your meal it is not expected that you tip the

Drastic weight loss seems almost impossible to accomplish when one chooses to lose weight
naturally. This is because naturally losing weight takes time in allowing the body to adapt to
lifestyle changes one undergoes in a diet. Losing weight is all a matter of decreasing your calorie
intake, consuming less than you burn. However, some people feel the need to take shortcuts using
minimal effort with great results. Such results would be an effect from stimulants, diet pills,
starvation and medical assistance. Many of these methods that are utilized for losing weight are not
advised, but it just demonstrates that people will do almost anything to lose weight. A huge

Bulimia could also be caused by the misuse of laxatives, enemas and diuretics. Bulimics also use
ipecac syrups to induce vomiting for poisonous purposes. Some bulimics have died for using
ipecac syrup on a daily basis. Malnutrition will force the body to drop weight quickly but it is
very ineffective as a way to lose weight. Many people seek for extreme measures with surgical
support. Liposuction is the most common procedure yet others prefer reducing the size of the
stomach restricting the amount of food one can consume. Surgery is a guarantee for removing
excess body fat. Liposuction is a plastic surgery technique removing fats through a suction tube.
Other procedures that is available for weight loss is the Gastric Bypass and the Lapband. Gastric
Bypass surgery basically creates a smaller stomach from the existing one with aid from staples. The
lapband seems to be much more preferable because this method does not require staples. Instead, a
band is placed around the stomach and is able to be removed or easily adjusted. Additionally is a
common technique, Mesotherapy. This method is a non surgical procedure that contains numerous
injections into the fat and tissue underneath the skin. These injections contain medicines, vitamins,
and minerals to diminish cellulite and excess weight. Nothing else is more extreme than surgery.

12. Dementi A Clinical State Caused By Neurodegeneration Essay
Dementia is a clinical state caused by neurodegeneration and characterized by a loss of function in
cognitive domains and behavior. There are several different causes of dementia including
Alzheimer s disease (AD), vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, and frontotemporal
dementia (FTD). Hippocampal sclerosis of aging (HS aging) is prevalent in people of advance age,
manifests with distinct neuropathological properties, and can be present with or without other
dementia causes and vascular diseases [1].
Although HS aging is poorly understood, this phenomena may describe a proportion of non AD
dementia [2]. The prevalence of HS aging pathology ranges from 5 to 30% in older people [3 6].
HS aging is generally diagnosed postmortem by the presence of TAR DNA binding protein 43
(TDP 43). The clinical signs and symptoms of HS aging are similar to those of AD with amnestic
memory deficits [7, 8]. Because of the overlapping symptomology, HS aging is often clinically
misdiagnosed as AD [7 9]. AD is characterized by accumulation of amyloid plaques and
neurofibrillary tangles [10], while HS aging is pathologically characterized by neuronal loss with
gliosis in the subiculum and Cornu Ammonis area 1 (CA1) region of the hippocampus, which can
occur unilaterally or bilaterally [6, 7].
Genetic risk factors for HS aging have been recently identified. Unlike AD, the apolipoprotein E4
(APOE4) genotype is not a risk factor for HS aging [11]. Potassium channel subfamily M regulatory

I love the music that they make because it is real and alive. I look for sincear songs; Blue
October meets this expectation that I have. The song Into The Ocean is the first song that I had

my mom and dad to save the money to buy me one of my own. I now could listen to the song

Why Nobody Can Have It All But Should Be Able To Most people dream for their entire lives of

between those who want to move higher up in their career fields, versus those who would rather
focus on home life. The strange thing is that it is nearly impossible to accomplish both of these
things at the same time: especially if you are a woman. In Anne Marie Slaughter s article Why
Women Still Can t Have It All, she writes of her difficulties splitting her efforts between her busy

Dorment tried to persuade the reader of the opposite, that men are at the disadvantage, however
there are many important details that he overlooks. One of the times that Dorment somewhat
contradicts himself is when he explains that sixty percent of all bachelor s and master s degrees
go to women, but, There are about as many women in the workforce as men, (698). While at first
glance this quote implies that women are at an advantage when it comes to education, it actually
displays a downfall in the plight of women trying to get jobs. Not only is there a slightly smaller
amount of women working than men, but if women are getting about sixty percent of the degrees,
they should logically also be getting sixty percent of the jobs. It is evident that there is a problem
that needs solving if women who are more qualified are not getting jobs that less qualified men are.
Another misstep that Dorment takes is mentioning, more than once, the famous song Cat s in the

15. Bowling For Columbine The Cove Analysis
The purpose of a documentary is to promote one s views or beliefs, in order to provoke change in
society. This is evident in Michael Moore s documentary Bowling for Columbine and Louie
Psihoyos, The Cove. Both documentaries manipulate the audience into taking the composers side
of the argument. Bowling for Columbineuses satirical humour and interviewing techniques to make
an extremely persuasive argument highlighting issues such as gun violence levels in America and
the Columbine High School massacre itself. Louie Psihoyos The Cove uses statistics and archival
footage to persuade the audience that dolphins are beginning unnecessarily slaughtered, and there is
something underhanded going on in Taiji, Japan.
Michael Moore s, Bowling for Columbine manipulates the viewer to believe that gun violence in
America is directly linked to the laws in place. Moore uses the satirical humour of South Park
cartoons to highlight that America was built on a foundation violence towards others and
eventually themselves. Satirical humour is endemic in scenes containing imagery of the Ku Klux

2. What is author s purpose for writing the book? Write a paragraph summarizing the main
argument or purpose.
In this unique book, economist Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, an award winning
author and journalist team up to create a powerful and freakish work that challenges the typical
rules of economics. Economics is above all a science of measurement. It comprises an
extraordinarily powerful and flexible set of tools that can reliably assess a thicket of
information to determine the effect of any one factor, or even the whole effect. That s what the
economy is, after all: a thicket of information about jobs and real estate and banking and
investment. But the tools of economics can be just as easily applied to subjects that are more well,
more interesting. (Dubner, Levitt 11). That is exactly what this book is all about, not just the value
of money but the way resources are managed and how different factors affect one another. In
Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner collaborate to explore the hidden side of everything (Dubner,
Levitt 1). Through this writing, the two men evaluate everyday situations in life and ask questions

the early 1800 s. Rather than write about the lives of ordinary people, romantics dealt with the
romance of life. They appealed to sentiment and imagination rather than reality (Miller, 534). The
essence of Romanticism is a belief in the power and validity of human emotions as a means of

center of power, romantics believed that power existed among all people. This was due to every
humans capability to learn through emotional experiences, regardless of stature (Roberts, 1032).
Romantic writers not only glorified these beliefs but the past as well, so it made sense that the
Romantic Movement was partly a reaction to the Enlightenment Movement of the 1700 s. The
people of the Enlightenment emphasized reason and progresses the way romantics lived off of

With all the glory and the splendour that some countries may have experienced, never has

hero who won splendid land based battles, which allowed him to dominate most of the European

genius; whatever it was, he was simply the best. But, even though how great this person was,
something about how he governed France still floats among people s minds. Did he abuse his
power? Did Napoleon defeat the purpose of the ideals of the French Revolution? After all of his
success in his military campaigns, did he gratify the people s needs regarding their ideals on the
French Revolution? This is one of the many controversies that we have to deal with when

This All clustering methods have to assume some cluster relationship among the data objects that
they are applied on. Similarity between a pair of objects can be defined either explicitly or
implicitly. In this paper, we introduce a novel multi viewpoint based similarity measure and two
related clustering methods. The major difference between a traditional dissimilarity/similarity
measure and ours is that the former uses only a single viewpoint, which is the origin, while the
latter utilizes many different viewpoints, which are objects assumed to not be in the same cluster
with the two objects being measured. Using multiple viewpoints, more informative assessment of
similarity could be achieved. Theoretical analysis and empirical study are conducted to support this
claim. Two criterion functions for document clustering are proposed based on this new measure. We
compare them with several well known clustering algorithms that use other popular similarity
measures on various document collections to verify the advantages of our proposal. Keywords

30. Literary Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Sylvia Plath, an incredibly renowned poet and novelist, is well known for her macabre, troubling,
yet amusing works of literature. One of the hallmarks of this is her poem Daddy. In this poem, the
speaker figuratively describes her relationship with her father through many caustic, abrasive
metaphors. The narrator emphasizes her resentment towards her father in this poem, however, the
speaker is unable to conceal the fact that she loves him as well. As such, this poem is filled with
raw emotional turmoil and no clear ideological champion by the end.
One of the most striking things about this poem is the continuous metaphor Plath uses comparing
the speaker s father to a Nazi and the speaker to a Jew. This simile conveys to the reader the degree
to which the narrator has suffered at the hands of her father. The narrator indicates that she is
not actually Jewish in her use of simile here: she states that she is like a Jew (34), which implies
that the speaker is distancing herself from actual Jews. However, the speaker says she may well
be a Jew (35) because her father s words served as an engine Chuffing [her] off like a Jew [...] to
Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen (33). In choosing to describe her relationship with her father as
analogous to the holocaust one of the most horrific, cruel, and inhumane events in human history
the narrator conveys the feeling of being tortured by her father. The narrator paints herself as a
helpless victim by saying that she related to people on trains to concentration camps. Although this
is a gross exaggeration of the speaker s circumstances, her use of this metaphor shows the
undeniably intense pain the speaker experienced at the hands of her father.
In addition to the animosity the speaker clearly has towards her father, another component
contributing to this disdain is fear of her father. In the first stanza, the narrator describes her father
as a black shoe/ In which [she has] lived like a foot/ For thirty years, poor and white,/ Barely
daring to breathe or Achoo (2 5). This is a telling metaphor because in the narrator describing
herself as the poor white foot in a black shoe, it demonstrates that she is unable to escape a
constraint which should not be forced

USA Patriot Act of 2001
In 2001, George W. Bush signed a law to provided tools to catch and prevent terrorism. It was
called the USA Patriot Act of 2001. It was George W. Bush s response to the terrorist attack that
took place in September 11, 2001 in New York and Pentagon. The Law ensured security and safety
for the citizens but it also violated individual right. The law took a lot of criticism because it
violated constitutional right, and it created problems between individual right perspective and the
public order advocates.

Death of a Salesman as a modern tragedy
Death of a Salesman as a modern tragedy
Death of a Salesman is typically classified as a modern tragedy. This implies that it follows the
example of the classic Greek tragedies, Roman tragedies and Shakespearian and Jacobean tragedy.
There are, however, subtle but vital differences between these forms. Aristotle s classic view of
tragedy saw the form as one which only properly deals with the fate of gods, kings and heroes. In
the twentieth century, such a restricted definition would consign tragedy to the waste bin of literary
history. Consequently, in Deathof a Salesman, Miller challenges this view and presents us with an
entirely new one.

Miller s narrative form
The fact that the story is told through both present events and Willy s versions of the past means
that it is entirely self contained. All the essential details of his childhood, his life away from
Linda and his sons and the mainsprings of his character are revealed so gradually that they are
easily absorbed and understood. We are left in no doubt as to what is fact and what is fantasy in
the frequent re enactments. The audience sees Willy s own accounts being neatly balanced by
those of other characters.
Miller s almost kaleidoscopic approach allows us to believe in, and be engaged by, the tragedy
that unfolds in a way that would be difficult in a more traditional dramatic presentation. A
straightforwardly chronological account would be both less interesting and less revealing than
the juxtaposition of scenes Miller gives us. It is often the sidelights thrown on events by seeing
them re enacted and hearing Willy draw conclusions from them that enables us to gain a clear
picture of what happens. In this way, we are able to appreciate the scale of Willy s decline and his
own part in it.
Unlike the kings and heroes of classical tragedies, Willy is so fully fleshed, so human, that it is
difficult not be fooled into believing he is a real person and not simply a character in a play.

Eyes Wide Open by Richard Powers discusses ways of education in the past one thousand years
and strives to find the necessary things needed to improve it in the next thousand years. Three
assertions he closed the piece with are asking not how things ought to be but how things are,
finding out not what we should do with the world, but what we can make the world do, and the next
thousand years must make up the difference, returning subtlety and richness and morals and
lightness of spirit to the long human experiment, if any part of it is to survive. Plato, Pierce,
Whitehead, Bloom and many others have commented on this idea of how knowledgeand education
were and/or how it should continue to be. In my opinion, the idea of science behind everything is
necessary and most likely enough to lead us toward the best form of education for the next
millennium. The importance of looking at the world of how things are, not how things ought to be,
is an controversial part of taking the step toward the ideal future of education that I and many
writers would agree with. ...if the time required for readjustment was not short wouldn t he provoke

41. Learning and Change in Organizations
Learning and Change in Organizations
We live in a dynamic world with constantly varying conditions and aspects that influence how we
make business operations and manage resources. The varying conditions in different circumstances
require a level of understanding that is made possible through learning. This essentially means that
learning consistent with the varying condition is in order to stay in touch and articulate matters
appropriately. Business operations cannot be expected to carry on in the similar ways as in the past
with no considerations of what is happening in the modern world (Pless, 2007).
Learning is a process of discovery that generates new understanding about ourselves and the world
around us. Strategic learning is organizational learning that improves the strategic capability of the
organization and changes the basic assumptions underlying the stable generation mechanism that
structures the strategic behavior design process. Organizations have various levels of knowledge
and learn at all levels (Stein Nelson, 2003). The levels of organizational learning interact, making
higher order learning such as strategic learning problematic. Change resulting from learning need
not be visibly behavioral. Learning may result in new and significant insights and awareness that
dictate no behavioral change. In this sense the crucial element in learning is that the organism be
consciously aware of differences and alternatives and have consciously chosen one of these

43. Scapular Muscle Rehabilitation
Introduction In regards to mobility, the glenohumeral (GH) joint is one of the best the human
body has to offer. It allows for the range of motion needed for the activities of daily living that we
have all grown accustomed to. In order to execute these motions, however, the shoulder joint needs
a stable base of support. This is one of the primary roles of the scapula and its surrounding
musculature. When the GH joint is injured, however, scapular muscleactivation, and therefore
stability and function, is theoretically altered. Many shoulderrehabilitation programs focus on
restoring proper coordination of these muscles, especially those involved with scapular upward
rotation. Until recently, however, there has not been much research supporting the relationship
between muscle activation ratios and shoulder injuries, nor the ability to preferentially activate
scapular muscles using rehabilitation exercises. Furthermore, the purpose of this study was to
determine if there are differences in muscle activation ratios between healthy individuals and those
with GH injuries, as well as evaluate muscle activation during particular rehabilitation exercises

character struggles to move on with her life. Emily Grierson cannot accept change. This can be seen
in the manner she reacts to her father s death, the changing society, and the thought of Homer
Barron leaving her. To better understand the story, William Faulkner
uses various symbols
throughout the story: a rose, the house, and Miss Emily s hair. On the surface, roses typically
remind people of love. When a suitor wishes to marry a young lady, he will bring her a rose. In

Miss Emily s hair relates to her femininity. After her father s death, Emily is described as looking
like a child even though she s in her thirties. When we saw her again, her hair was cut short,

sort of tragic and serene (Faulkner 5). Her father would not let any suitor give her the figurative
rose, so after his death Emily is left alone and sexually immature. During the next few years it
grew grayer and grayer until it attained an even pepper and salt iron gray, when it ceased turning
(Faulkner 7). Emily s hair turning gray represents the death of her sexuality. At the end of the
story, the town discovers a strand of Emily s hair next to the corpse of her deceased almost
husband. Emily found a love that would never leave, which again reinforces the idea of
stubbornness and controlling behavior. The symbolism in this story is tragic, which reflects the

the postsynaptic neuron.
c. If the frequency of action potentials in this presynaptic cell (#10a) increases, what happens to the
number of action potentials in the postsynaptic cell?
If the frequency of action potentials in the excitatory presynaptic cell increases than the number of
action potentials in the postsynaptic cell will increase as well. This is due to temporal summation
of EPSP at very frequent times. This causes the postsynaptic cell to produce many action potential
in succession.
