2. Introdução
He is playing football
(Ele está jogando futebol)

3. Estrutura
• Sujeito + verbo to be + verbo com “ing”
– She is sleeping. (Ela está dormindo.)
• She is sleep + ing.
– He is surfing. (Ele está surfando.)
• He is surf + ing.

4. Afirmações
• Verbo TO BE e o gerúndio do verbo principal
– I am writing (eu estou escrevendo)

5. Interrogações
• Trocar o sujeito e o verbo TO BE de posição
– I am writing  Am i writing? (Eu estou escrevendo?)
– He is crying  Is he crying? (Ele está chorando?)

6. Negações
• Adicionar o NOT depois do verbo TO BE
– I am not writing. (Eu não estou escrevendo.)
– He is not crying. (Ele não está chorando.)

7. Regras
• VERBOS TERMINADOS EM –E: retira-se o –e e acrescenta-se –ing
– Exemplos:
Change (mudar): changing
live (viver): living
– Exceções:
Be (ser, estar): being
lie (mentir): lying

8. • VERBOS DE UMA SÍLABA (OU DUAS, DESDE QUE A ÚLTIMA SEJA
TÔNICA, TERMINADOS NA SEQUÊNCIA CONSOANTE-VOGALCONSOANTE): dobra-se a última letra e acrescenta-se –ing
– Exemplo:

– Exemplo:

(Oh meu Deus, ela está chorando.)

10. • VERBOS TERMINADOS EM –IE: troca-se o –ie por –y e acrescentase –ing
– Exemplo:
lie (mentir): lying
die (morrer): dying
I’m dying.
