group, but they all receive the same labels. Cheerleaders make up one group that is commonly
stereotyped, but many people don t know the true nature of cheerleading.
Countless stereotypes that I have about cheerleaders have been ingrained into my mind by the media,
and from personal experience. From what I had observed in high school, cheerleaders are the popular
girls with plenty of friends. Not being associated with a cheerleader meant that you weren t on the
map. Promiscuity was also an extremely prominent stereotype in high school, which had always
shocked me since the cheerleaders seemed like a nasty group of girls. Cheerleaders also have a
reputation of being air headed or simply not intelligent. As an outsider, they did not give me the
impression of being book smart, especially at my high school. Another stereotype that I have is that
cheerleaders aren t entirely athletic. Yes, cheerleading is a sport. Yes, it can be dangerous and it does
take work. However, cheering doesn t look like it requires the same level of effort and intensity as

love, loyalty, etc. and how they relate to the codes of chivalry that serves as a guide for how a knight

gave knights more honor, which they held in very high esteem. This code included different values

who you are. Colin Singleton was seventeen and panicking because he doesn t know who he is. He
just got dumped his nineteenth Katherine and has fallen into a depression, Colin Singleton is nothing
but a brain without a Katherine by his side. Colin finds out that just because he s a former child
prodigy, that doesn t mean he s going to be a genius in his adult years to come. He has trouble
accepting that because he wants to be remembered as someone important.
Major Characters To begin, at the start of the novel Colin Singleton has dated nineteen girls named
Katherine, because girls named Katherine were his type . He has also been dumped by all of these

Katherine. Which is probably his eureka moment that he s been looking for ever since he was a little

Major Theme The overall theme of the book is finding yourself and who you are. There are several

The Cold War Era that followed the end of World War II was unlike any Americans had seen before.
After defeating Germany and its allies in the war, the United States faced a change on the home front:
young Americans rushed into marriage and parenthood in unprecedented numbers. In Homeward
Bound: American Families in the Cold War Era, Elaine Tyler May describes these changes from the
end of the war through the early 1960s. The author makes a compelling range of arguments about the
changes that affected Americans during this period. Mainly, May argues that the domestic containment
that arose after World War II promoted the new dynamic of a suburban lifestyle, in part because of the

In the novel Beloved, Toni Morrison addresses many broad themes and issues that are continually
reoccurring throughout the book. Morrison uses each one of the characters to aid in the development
of her novel. Sethe, Denver, and Beloved, all main characters in this book, represent many of the large

Reflection Of Leadership And Leadership In The Honors College
Throughout this semester, I learned so much and gained so much confidence in my ability to lead. I
had never led through the Honors College before this semester nor had I ever felt so involved and
included within the Honors College. Being an Honors Year One mentor has allowed me to grow in
ways that I would have never grown if it was not for this experience. Through my experience, I have
made friends, realized what all the Honors College has to offer and connect freshmen with others. I
learned how I lead best, how to not always be the leader, what my strengths are and how to use them
to their full potential, and what needs to happen differently next semester in hopes to improve the
experience for the freshmen.
I thought our mentor class was absolutely phenomenal. Tiffany continuously led us well and reigned
us in well when we needed to get down to business. Her leadership, council, and example made a
difference for me when leading my freshmen. She was also very encouraging, which was much
needed. At the beginning, I was intimidated by Rebecca being in our class each week. However, the
intimidation faded, and I quickly learned to appreciate her. She had many great suggestions as well as
a great insight. I may be an extrovert, but on the first day of our mentor class, I was very intimidated
and nervous. I had no earthly idea what to expect. However, as it is now the end of the semester, I am
honestly sad the class had to come to an end. I learned so much from the other

Creating Opportunities For Students Proficiency ...
I understand the need to create opportunities for my students to show their proficiency in directing
their own learning and have done so within my classroom environment. I am aware that as the
Learning Manager this requires me to have a clear understanding of each student s strengths, needs,
and interests. This is needed in order to create a diverse and relevant classroom experience that
revolves around the curriculum. Please see my examples of such opportunities below:
EXAMPLE 1
During diagnostic testing of a particular year 8 class the reading and spelling levels of certain students
were well below average. These results were amplified when it was obvious that the attendance within
the class was sporadic and behaviour unruly. These combined, led to a poor attitude towards
classroom participation and assessment tasks. The action displayed below was created after my EPL 3
placement when it became evident that the classroom needed consistent routine and positive
reinforcement in order to encourage student participation.
The required action manifested in the form of motivating student interest, learning and differentiation
in the classroom. The Year 8 students needed a form of routine within the class and a point of interest
which would be renewed systematically throughout the term. Thus, the rules and expectations chart
was created in tandem with the students, in order for the students to take ownership of their behavior
and attitudes within the classroom.
