The International Olympic Committee ( Ioc )

March 12, 2016
Rio 2016 In September 7, 2007 the International Olympic committee (IOC) when over the application
for the host city for the 2016 summer games. Amount those cities was Rio scoring a high of 6.3 on the
rating. Rio is rich in activities, religion, culture but Rio face many problems, some of those problems
are crime rate is high, pollution and poverty that excite in that area. Looking back on the history of
Brazil will show that it is a country that is tropical but it was discovered by Portugal during the 16th
century and mostly controlled by European nations and from the 16th century on there were exchange
of rulers The Portuguese military officers that were based in Brazil at this time sided with the
constitutionalist movement in their homeland. General Jorge Avilez, who led the Portuguese military,
forced Dom Pedro to dismiss and banish the ministers of Kingdom and Finance. These men had both
been loyal to Dom Pedro and the prince was left feeling helpless and humiliated as he was
manipulated by Avilez. From that moment, Pedro swore never to give in to military manipulation
again. In September 1821, the provincial governments of Brazil were put in political subordination to
Portugal, which left Pedro nothing more than the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, which was just a
province. Pedro was also ordered to go back to Europe and any courts that his father had created in
1808 were done away with. The Brazilian inhabitants

The Values Of Michelangelo Buonarroti s Reputance
Reputation is an opinion about entity (a person, a social group, an organization), typically a result of
social evaluation on a set of criteria. Also, reputation may be considered as a component of identity as
defined by others [ ]. This essay will talk about a very famous Italian Renaissance artist, considering
the circumstances in which such artist had established his reputation. The essay intends to explain the
values of the Renaissance era and their qualities, and then to apply this knowledge specifically to the
reputation of Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet.
The essay first describes the qualities of the Renaissance values in question, then focuses on the
specific effects they had on Michelangelo. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His work received traditional criticism as irreligious in terms of its emphasis on the naked human
body; since it is presented not as a religious figure but as a real human. His frescos and paintings
contained many completely naked characters. In response to such uncommon arts, Roman Catholic
Cardinal accused him of immorality and obscenity. The extreme concern for preserving morals led the
Cardinal to call for a campaign to have the work removed or censored. Michelangelo was also
criticized for his artistic choices, including his emphasis on the physical rather than the spiritual
element.
In many ways, the Michelangelo style was considered by others frivolous because instead of the focus
on religion or the social concerns, the subjects were often contemporaries exploring humanism which
was not accepted in Italy at that time. In fact, most of his paintings including David were considered
antithetical to the classical tradition of

Media Acts And Its Impact On Society
In our society today, media acts as an integral factor in creating and undoing social bonds, as well as
communicating topics which enable social transformation. It is generally considered that political and
economic subjects are rational and thus are treated as men s issues , in comparison to social and
cultural themes expressed as sensitive and accordingly correlated with femininity (Stevenson 1995).
Although this is open to much criticism in terms of gender inequality, it is undoubtable that gender
equality is progressing. Women have enrolled into conventionally male dominated work places,
reflecting the general consensus that women achieve better at school. Also, men have proceeded into
normally female dominated areas such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the course of the 40 years it was found that in both newspapers was an evident gender bias,
which has gradually overcome as new media genres have developed (Stanley, 2012). In the non elite
paper women are hardly pictured, and in the elite magazine women show up just as often as men
(Stanley, 2012). The audience of both papers consists of approximately 50% women and 50% men
(Stanley, 2012). However, mirroring the diversity between elite and non elite newspapers, the typical
reader of the New York Times has more formal education than is the case for the Daily News (Daily
News, 2012) (News York Times, 2012). Stanley states that the article addresses a myriad of key
questions. Firstly, the progress of women s appearance in newspapers today is explored in comparison
to fifty years ago. Secondly, the location of where women are presented within the newspaper is of
concern. The article then explores whether these locations are of similarity within elite and non elite
newspapers or whether they are different.
An array of theoretical perspectives are provided, which are later used to justify and criticise findings.
The first is an approach that the content within media is a parallel of realism; an increased number of
women in society results in photography being progressively occupied by women. This is then
followed by a supposition that the constitution of cultural presence in the media is influenced by
cultural categories of editors

the 1970s. The film starts with George as a child, showing what his childhood was like and what his
relationship with his parents was like. As it progresses George grows up and moves to California.
While there he become caught up in the marijuana scene and eventually starts selling it for money.

Drug tolerance is when increasing amounts of the drug are needed to gain the original, desired effect.
This means that as a user continues to take a drug the desired effects lessen with the same dosage used
over and over again because they are slowly building up a tolerance to the drug and its effects. But, if
the user increases the dosage over time, they will be able to achieve that desired effect that they are
looking for and in turn become more and more tolerant to the drug. George exemplifies this trait very
well when he is in the delivery room and his wife is having their child. Before rushing his wife to the
hospital George is shown taking/accidently inhaling cocaine as he packs for the trip. Once at the
hospital and in the delivery room George is seen standing in a corner watching his wife give birth.
George is standing fairly rigid while his hand is shaking uncontrollably and he has a grin of sorts on
his face. This is him reacting to the drug and at the moment a drug induced heart attack as well. When
George recovers the doctor tells him what had happened. George recollects by saying, The official
toxicity limit for humans is between one and one and half grams of cocaine depending on body
weight. I was averaging five grams a day, maybe more. I snorted ten grams in ten minutes once. I
guess I had a high tolerance. This line in the movie shows how much of a tolerance

Stop and Frisk final outline
Prof: Maule Brian
Introduction:
There has always been tension raised between maintaining a safe society and observing by the
constitutional rights of its citizens. The New York City aggressive program of Stop and Frisk have
been widely criticized and considered unconstitutional. However, Stop and Frisk, per se is not
unconstitutional unless people are being stopped illegally. It s a crime prevention tool that allows
police officers to stop a person based on reasonable suspicion of criminal activity and to conduct a
frisk based on reasonable suspicion that the person is armed. Some argue this policy was created to
target minorities. Most of the people who have been stopped and frisked under this program have been
African American or Hispanic. This concerns citizens and makes them oppose the policy because they
believe its racial profiling and guided by color. Stop and frisk is now one of the biggest controversies
in United States. It has become something that is affecting society in both a positive and negative way.
Efficiency:
Is or isn t stop and frisk an efficient strategy?
What is the problem with effectiveness argument? Should the New York City Police department
continue using Stop and Frisk or should they end the program? Do Stop and Frisk help to save lives?

Orange Coast College Student Dance Concert
The Dance concert is the Orange Coast College Student Dance Concert having multiple dances of
different types of dances. It s inside the Robert B. Moore Global Theater. It s starts at 8:00 and ends at
10:00pm and I went on April 28th, a Friday night. The artistic directors are Amelie Hunter and Shana
Menaker and I believe to be one hundred people or more in the theater. So it s a full house fill with
students and adults alike.
What I enjoy during the concert was the dancers performing without being distracted or scare by the
audience. Granted it s to be expected and the dancers are not strangers to this, but nice to see
performers not buckle down to the pressure of fear because of the audience. At the same time, I
understand that they do, but what I have seen they didn t show it. What I don t like was not the quality
the dances, but the different types of dances shown. Most dancers I saw only modern or contemporary
pieces and the only thing different was the hip hop pieces. I didn t seem to find classical ballet, tap,
jazz or anything to diversify the concert. While I didn t find the concert a chore to watch and was
engaging, but I find myself looking at the hip hop dances more than I would for modern or
contemporary mostly due to something different to watch. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One that stands out to me were the dances with props mostly it makes the dances more interesting to
look at and what they can do with it to their dances. Along with the chair prop, there were a dancer
using two tables, one where a mop was used. How it impacted was how they used it along with
choreography. The dance schism is like a nurse helping a patient at a psych ward to me. In conclusion,
I would like to see this again at another time for to see if the dances have something unique to them
and the fact I like seeing different dance forms coming to life and preserving it for generations to

William Domhoff s Who Rules America Essay
Reading G. William Domhoff s Who Rules America?: The Triumph of the Corporate Rich was an
intriguing and challenging experience for me. My limited knowledge base of the American political
class system mostly stems from high school US History classes and listening to my mom s stories of
her experiences in the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my prior lack of knowledge
on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some of his finer points. Part of my
struggles may be largely due to the fact that Domhoff s intended audience for Who Rules America? is
other experts in the field of understanding the sociology of the corporate elite and their resources of
power. However, I believe that the book has given me a better, if not complete, understanding of the
corporate elite and how they stay in power.
I found the book to be extremely well researched. When Domhoff presents a point, he uses several
sources and logical reasons to back up his theory. For example, when relating the dominance of the
political elite on the government, Domhoff examines the amount of influence the corporate rich have
in our judicial system by investigating the nine Supreme Court judges during the Obama
administration. He discovered that all of them graduated from one of three elite institutions: Harvard,
Yale, or Columbia (Domhoff, 178, 2014). Domhoff treats most of his assertions in a similar fashion;
he uses extensive research backs up his claims. The book explains the

The Workplace Of The Civil Rights Act
2) a. In the workplace everyone should have equal opportunity to advance in their line of work.
Employers should not discriminate anyone who tries for the job. In this case, the veteran wants to
apply for a supervisory position. With the details about him suffering from back pain do to his
Vietnam conflict experiences, employers most likely would not promote him. However, under the
Americans with Disabilities Act, employers are not allowed to discriminate anyone based on a
disability. So in this case, employers have to see past the disability and focus on his credentials and
skills.
b. One law that can benefit this woman against the off color jokes sprouted by her co workers is Title
VII of the Civil Rights Act. This act forbids the discrimination based on race, age, sex, color, or
national origin. The co workers who tell the jokes are violating this rule because they are causing the
woman to feel uncomfortable.
c. In businesses, the employers need to hire the best employees for the job. These employees are found
through their credentials and skills, or at least they should be. If companies choose people based on
color, race, sex, national origin, etc.; the company is violating the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Both these prohibit the discrimination of color,
race, sex, national origin, etc. If the company can demonstrate that they chose their people based on
skill, then that is fine. However, if they did discriminate based

1. The first essay clearly shows the impact that an ideology of domesticity on women in New England
in the 1830 s. The writer at first calls this time period a paradox in the progress of women s history in
the United States . During this time apparently two contradictory views on women s relations to
society clashed, unusually, those two being domesticity, which essentially limited women, giving them
a sex specific role that they must abide to, this mostly being present at the home with their husbands
and whatever kids they may or may not have had at that time, and feminism, which essentially tried to
remove this domesticity, trying to remove sex specific limits on women s opportunities and ... Show

Masculinity didn t do a good job of attaining the hoped for standards, as they didn t have other equally
profound consequences for American middle class culture at this time. It justified the exclusion of
women from the world as acceptable to both women and men at this time, and it cultivated strong
bonds around women as well. They in fact shared the biological experiences central to their definition
as women and spoke the same language of virtue and piety, which essentially means that they instilled
a awareness of a set of common goals for them and experiences present for them, which had values
specific to women, and distinct from those of men. The key to this was the extensive networks of
female friends that were present during this time period for these women. Since women were
supposedly better than men during this time, it was feasible and easy to believe that women were
obliged and privileged to work together and help other women, who were fallen, and poor, who were
having some sort of trouble during this time period as a result of the society that they were present in
during this time period. Southern white women during this time were aware of the ideology of
domesticity during this time, and they would try to implement it and its teachings for their lives, but
their expectations were frequently articulated during this time period. There was little
industrialization, domestication, urbanization, immigration, and therefore, social dislocation present

Compare Thomas Paine And Thoreau Civil Disobedience
In the United States of America, individuals have always taken it upon themselves to write the wrong
that they witness in society. This can be portrayed in both Thomas Paine s Common Sense, and Henry
David Thoreau Civil Disobedience. Throughout history, as the times have changed so has individuals
perception on government. Both authors existed at a different time in history, but they both convey a
similar message that citizens should disobey government but their idea of government is completely
different. Henry David Thoreau wrote Civil Disobedience, which is about him trying to persuade
citizens that their obligation is to contravene and correct the unfair laws of the government. Thoreau
begins Civil Disobedience with the view point That government is best which governs least Thomas
Paine wrote Common Sense, to explain his vision of the ideal government, one where people vote and
elect a person to run the country, which is similar to our democracy today( the great power of
government be held in one elected legislature for the nation and one for each individual province ). He
mainly criticizes Great Britain and how we need to break away and become our own country or
government? After his writing went public and explaining what had happened between America and
Great Britain, it was time for America to finally secede.
Thoreau believed that individual integrity had the ability to triumph the government. Thoreau went to
jail because he refused to pay his poll taxes for the past six years. Also, he protested against the
Mexican war, and slavery, which also contributed to him going to jail and his views on the
government. During his short period in jail he clarified that he did not dread it, and portrayed it as
Traveling into a far country (964). Although, Paine thought that individual integrity was very
indistinct and unreasonable. Paine considered his individual rights to be violated by the government...
The main goal that Thomas Paine had for writing Common Sense was for America to break away
from Great Britain and become an independent country. Thoreau and Paine are both suggesting that
the United States citizens should disobey their government, but the ways in which these authors are
suggesting are in

The Influence Of The Selection Process
I disagree and agree with both sides to some extent. To me, this is not a right or wrong or black and
white process. Agencies within the Intelligence Community and Federal law enforcement, FBI, have
changed how they approach the selection process by adopting a more whole person approach (Woska,
2016). They have maintained their education standards, based on fields of study and work with the
agencies, but have relaxed or adjusted how they view drug and criminal pasts. They now take into
consideration or ask is this person salvageable? They look at the totality of the circumstances and
evaluate if there is a likelihood the behavior will likely happen again or not. They take into
consideration factors such as age, or was the drug use truly experimentation or habitual? ... Show

I find the assertion that the hiring process will influence how a person will behave hard to accept. I
accept that through training and fostering department ethics and values may influence how they
behave, but the selection process? I agree that being accepted into an agency that has high standards
promotes a good feeling, but do not believe it influences how they will behave, there are bad apples in
many agencies which have stringent selection processes (CIAAldrich Ames for

Creation Of Enkidu And Genesis Similarities
Creation stories are symbolic accounts of how the world and its inhabitants came about. These stories
first developed in oral traditions, so there are multiple accounts of them from different cultures and
societies. The Babylonian Creation story, the Genesis Creation story, and the Sumerian story of the
Creation of Enkidu are examples of these and the similarities are interesting. As Dennis Bratcher
states, Because of many parallels with the Genesis account, some historians concluded that the
Genesis account was simply a rewriting of the Babylonian Story. As a reaction, many who wanted to
maintain the uniqueness of the Bible argues either that there were no real parallels between the
accounts or that the Genesis narratives were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Genesis story, God creates man in his own image and likeness. There are different versions of
the Genesis bible. In one of these versions, it is said that humans were made from clay. One difference
of the creation stories is that the Sumerian and Babylonian people have many gods, but the Hebrew
people have only one god. In all of these stories, only one god creates man. The Hebrew God can
never die. He is immortal. The gods in the Babylonian and Sumerian story can be defeated. The gods
in the Sumerian and Babylonian stories are like the man that the Hebrew god created. Man, that is
born of woman, is of few days and full of trouble. Like a flower he comes forth and is withered; he
flees like the shadow and does not endure (Job 14:1 2).
In the Babylonian creation story, man was made of the blood of Kingu who was a troublesome god
who was killed for the purpose of his blood. He was created primarily in order to serve the gods and
free them from the need of working for their bread. In the Genesis creation story, man was made to
rule over the animals and creatures of the earth. In the Sumerian creation story of Enkidu, it is said
that he was created solely for the purpose of balancing Gilgamesh out so Uruk could finally have
peace. The people suffer from his tyranny, the people cry out that he takes the son from his father and
crushes him, takes the girl from her mother and

Moral Messages in An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley
Priestley wrote an Inspector Calls in 1945 just before the end of WW2. However, The play itself is set
in 1912 just before the start of WW1, and in Edwardian England. Priestley was a socialist writer who
had left wing political views with very strong beliefs; he enjoyed using types of theatre to get his
messages across.
When the platy was set, there was a lot of historical events going on at the time; Titanic, Captain Scott
falling to reach S Pole, Suffragette movement campaigning for women s rights, worker striking for

In An Inspector Calls, Mr. Birling is a prime example of this stereotypical character of the time.
In Mr. Birling s big speech before the Inspector arrives, there are many moral issues raised: First of
all, the issue of whether the marriage is for love, money, respect or business Your engagement to
Sheila means a tremendous lot to me…your father and I have been friendly rivals in business for
some time now…and now you ve brought us together. While Mr B does mention that they will make
each other very happy he mentions his business a lot, and this shows how he wants the wedding for
two reasons, as he wants to climb the social ladder to the top. This is mentioned a number of times at
different sections of the play. Mr B refers to business later on in his speech, with the prosperity of the
country brought up in the speech suggesting the marriage is for money, and when it turns out Gerald
has been keeping a mistress, he still wants the marriage to go ahead making excuses for Gerald; this
shows that all Mr. Birling wanted from the marriage was money, respect and prosperity for himself.
A number of other issues that were around at the time the play was set (1912) are raised; these issues
are raised by Priestley are because of his strong political views, and it is clear what he thought on

Communication At Prab Raritan Gardens Essay
Part C: Communication is a large part at my particular site, there is open communication between all
staff members and I frequently view the clarity and openness staff members share with one another. If
there is an issue within the classroom, teachers will either address it among themselves or bring it up
to the director. Their issues are always resolved and solutions are found. The teacher who I am
interning with in particular (I will further address her as Teacher N), has no issues voicing her opinion.
If she does not agree with something she brings it up in an appropriate manner and it is address.
Within my time at PRAB Raritan Gardens, I have not witness any conflicts between staff members. As
stated above, from what I ve witnessed everyone is very vocal about their opinions, while at the same
time everyone is also very willing to help each other. An example of which is if a classroom has a
particularly difficult child, teachers do not view this as that specific teacher s child to handle. If
someone is able to offer help, either by bringing the child within their classroom to settle him or her
down or even offering to help a child if they have a better ability to do so, they will. An example of
which was a time Teacher N had helped the teacher adjacent to her classroom with a child who was
bilingual, although the child did speak English he was better at speaking his native tongue, Hindi. The
teachers in that classroom both do not speak Hindi, but Teacher N did because

Components Of Controllers For Control Engineering...
In this chapter we focus on describe the most controller type of controllers that are particularly
appropriate for control engineering applications, Which is a PID Controller, We applying this
controller to control the speed of BLDC motor, in which its parameters are tuned by many methods
such as Ziegler Nichols method and optimization techniques which include genetic algorithm (GA)
and artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC). The chapter is organized as follows. In Section 3.1 a
conventional PID controller is introduced. Section 3.2 illustrate Ziegler and Nichols Tuning method

The Great Reform Act 1832
The main issue is one that affected most of Society in the early 20th century. The main issue stemmed
from outcry at The Great Reform Act 1832 which was introduced to amend the representation of the
people in England and Wales. Before the 1832 Reform Act most men and all women did not have the
vote. This act created a wider franchise but used the term male person , specifically excluding women.
Alternative acts helped to enfranchise new sections of society and gave most men the vote, leaving sex
the principal ground for disqualification. As a result, debates about fitness for citizenship and the vote,
which had previously centred around wealth, property ownership and education, now revolved around
questions of gender. It was that women, did not have the right to vote for the men that were in power
creating laws and such which they had to follow. The laws and aspects of society which they were
made to follow without any say in the creation of them were things such as taxes. Women were denied
the vote for many reasons, most being justified by men. Most men and some women at the time,
against women gaining the vote believed in Conservatism, they thought that the way the laws were,
had been the same for many years, and they saw no need to change something that worked for the
benefit of all those in society at the time. it was also a widespread belief that women should remain in

The Sins of Yesterday Essays
He opened the door to the diner and stepped inside. The door slammed shut behind him. It always did
that. It was probably the reason why the pane of glass had a jagged crack running from top to bottom.
The crack had been there for as long as he could remember. It was a comfortable reminder of why he
came here: no one cared here. He sat in the same place he always sat: a booth in the back near the
bathroom. Dorothy, the only waitress this hole in the wall had to offer, acknowledged him with a grunt
and asked if he wanted anything. Just a cup of coffee and some pancakes, please. She oinked with
indifference and waddled to the kitchen to put in the order. He watched her pour coffee that probably

His grizzled face, squinted eyes, and balding head made him look a lot older than he knew him to be.

Themes Of There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury
Theme, the moral of a story, almost every story has a theme. Ray Bradbury has interesting themes in
his stories. Especially There Will Come Soft Rains , The Flying Machine and The Dragon . In the
story There Will Come Soft Rains on page 267, At night the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow
which could be seen for miles. All the people were gone because of themselves, there was a nuclear
attack on them. In the story, there was a consequence that was bad such as they had a nuclear attack on
them because of themselves, but there is also a good consequence. The house kept on working hard to
clean the house, made food for the people even though they were not there. On page 267 it states,
Outside the garage chimed and lifted its door to reveal the waiting car. After a long wait, the door
swung down again. This shows that the house didn t notice that the people were gone and kept it s
routine because it thought it was doing good. In The Flying Machine the emperor did not like that the
inventor had made the flying machine to help China, he saw it as a machine that could fall into the
wrong hands and cause rocks thrown at the Great Wall of China. On page 306 the text states, What
have you done? demanded the Emperor. I have flown in the sky, Your Excellency, replied the man.
What have you done? said the Emperor again. I have just told you! cried the flier.
You have told me nothing at all.
The Emperor reached out a thin hand to touch the pretty paper and the birdlike feel of the apparatus. It

Is it not beautiful, Excellency?
Yes, too beautiful. It continues with the Emperor calling the executioner to execute the flier because
the Emperor is afraid the flying machine will fall into the wrong hands. On page 310 the author states,
Off with his head, said the Emperor. The executioner whirled his silver ax. The flier had gotten killed
because his invention was too beautiful but could help people and the machine was burned. This story
shows that not everyone agrees with how technology is advancing but you can t really stop it from

College Campus Research Paper
College campuses are like giant mixing pots: overflowing, full of people from different backgrounds,
of different race, ethnicities, religions, etc., yet these people, each with such a unique upbringing, are
all collectively craving the same particular thing. They all are relying on a source that isn t physically
there, isn t able to be felt, touched, or even visualized. Even all across the globe, wherever you might
be, whatever situation you might be in, everyone is either connected to the internet, or striving to
become connected, at that very moment. The internet has become something so natural in all of our
lives, that without it it s like you ve lost a limb. It has become more a part of our lives than even our
own family: say you haven t spoken with your family in a couple of hours, no big deal; say you
become disconnected from the Wi Fi for a moment, it s as if the world is ending.

Every single individual relies on the campus internet and expects it to be there, ready, at our fingertips,
every second of the day. Discovered in a recent survey by the folks at 7signal Solutions, Inc., over
96% of college students reported fast and reliable Wi Fi as a crucial component for their success in
being a student (Camulli). The problem though, is that as prominent as the internet is within our
everyday lives, colleges have yet to figure out a way for it to always be accessible. Campus Wi Fi is
the least reliable facet of nearly every university across the nation, and students everywhere are
struggling to stay connected to their school s network, and even when connected, the speeds are
typically comparable to that of a turtle s pace. The same survey by 7signal revealed

Analysis Of The Mood For Love
Love is beautiful, it s breathtaking, it s heartbreaking. In the Mood for Love brilliantly emphasizes the
many faces of love, and what the film lacks in dialogue it compensates with its visual language. The
film introduces us to suave newspaper editor Chow Mo Wan and the elegant Mrs. Chan who have
moved into neighboring apartments with their respective spouses. Their spouses are often away on
business trips leaving the two alone but it doesn t take long for them to realize these trips have been
home to a cruel affair. Mr. Chow and Mrs. Chan find comfort in one another by mimicking the other s
spouse to investigate how and why the affair might have begun. However, the reenactment quickly
becomes reality as the two unexpectedly fall in love. Unfortunately, they can never pursue this
romance because doing so would make them no better than those who had caused them such pain and
loss. Director Wong Kar Wai immerses us into this world of loneliness, pain and forbidden love
creating beautiful cinematography reflected through camera work, décor, WORDSKLSDKAJSKD
This sequence occurs halfway through the movie immediately following a brief conversation between
Mrs. Chan and Mr. Chow. In shot 1, the camera is behind Mrs. Chan like usual and displays a long,
narrow, dimly lit corridor painted red and dressed in velvet curtains. She walks away from the closed
door wearing a slim, red coat and black heels. Mrs. Chan slowly walks toward the end of the hall as

Comparing Mccandless, Emerson, And Henry David Thoreau
Self reliance is the freedom of being independent. One only relies on oneself and doesn t look for help
or for anyone to save them. One is perfectly content with being solely reliant. Three people who
believed greatly in self reliance were Chris McCandless, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Henry David
Thoreau. They had many different beliefs and along with acting out in civil disobedience, acting in
nonconformity, thinking nature was most important, and being a transcendentalist, they was also self
reliant. McCandless, Emerson, and Thoreau were all people who believed strongly in self reliance.
One belief all three writers had is self reliance. In the nonfiction book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer,
the author talks about how McCandless was very independent

Personal Views On Philosophy And Philosophy
Eight weeks ago, I was one who internally had developed specific views of my individuality and what
it meant to be human through personal life experiences. I never put much thought into ideology or
views that have shaped our world into what it is today. This class, not only through readings and
interactions has enlightened me into being a more rounded human being. It has added an intellectual
viewpoint that has changed my way of thinking throughout daily life interactions. I am humbled to
admit exactly how naïve my personal viewpoints have set me back. I would like to interject on this
feeling, that I am also proud of the fact, I was able to find value and substance in some of my personal
viewpoints and the way I approach opinions through rational and logic. Philosophy is a powerful and
life altering academia, challenging the mind, and creating substance of life, defining what it means
intuitively to each, specifically between law and morality or how we shall view right from wrong.
First, when I examine Aristotle, and formed distinctions between practical knowledge and theoretical
knowledge, based on what eudaimonia means to me, it was very confusing. I realized that happiness
brought about different feelings and moral convictions not only from me but unexpected viewpoints
from others. Memory finds its meaning, in large part, through key concepts with which it is paired and
from which it is distinguished (J. Blustein 178). It has brought about unanswered questions that still

Aims and Principles of Critical Discourse Analysis
CDA as a particular hypothesis of language for examining text and discussions has got a few standards

method for language is insufficient to handle these issues consequently the mixture utilization of
discourse is qualified to portray and investigation social issues, imbalance, sex, prejudice and force are
the primary matters which CDA manages them through its approach. Another standard of CDA is that
the methodology relies on upon dissecting and recognizable proof instead of concentrating on
language as a phonetic thing. History has proven time and again that a few orders of semantics
(pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and semantics) are included in the work of CDA however they got less

that discourse is bounded to contexts. The third one is that discourse regarded as social practice. The

Ebonics, which stands for Ebony + Phonics is a new term that Linguistics use to describe Black

Due to the market; bargains were more important to consumers. Fifty six of Costco warehouses
exceeded $200 million in sales in fiscal 2010, and two of these units each did more than $300 million.
This rate of revenue is highly attributable to the strong entrepreneurial culture that encourages its
employees and management s teams to be creative and contribute new ideas to allow the company to
constantly evolve and improve. It has been well publicized that Costco rewards and compensates its
employees well. It is a well oiled machine that reciprocates its success with its customers and
employees.
Industry Overview
The US warehouse club and superstore industry includes about 20 companies; however the major
competitors that Costco faces are Sam s Club (owned by Wal Mart), BJ s Wholesale Club, and Meijer.
The club superstore industry is so competitive that these four companies alone hold over 90 percent of
sales. These superstores are able to offer competitive pricing because as large companies they can
offer a wide selection of products and have purchasing, distribution, marketing, and financing
advantages. Due to low margins, the profitability of these individual superstore companies depends on
high volume sales and efficient operations. This is where Costco has been able to succeed and set
itself aside from the competitors.

African American Culture through Oral Tradition Essays
African American Culture through Oral Tradition
African American folktales have origins rooted in West African literary and cultural forms of
expression. When Africans were taken from their homeland and brought to America as slaves, they
also brought with them their individual cultures, languages and customs. However, their white
slaveholders suppressed this part of their heritage in them. Thus they had to find other ways of
expression, mainly story telling and songs. It is incredible to see how African slaves could ever smile
and laugh under the horrible and cruel circumstances, which were imposed on them by the brutal
slaveholders.

They were able to accomplish this by the use of hidden meaning in their words and the ultimate result
was that they outwitted their masters and proved that they were not, after all an inferior race.
The idea of a slave outwitting his master is seen clearly in many old folktales. Virginia Hamilton, a
distinguished writer of fiction for children today, published a book called The People Could Fly,
which is a compilation of African American folklore stories. One of the folktales in her book reflects
the idea that most slaves told stories in which the slave owner would be outfoxed by his slave. The
following is a brief summary of the story named The Riddle Tale of Freedom.
Now here it tis. Long time ago, there was a slave and a slave owner. The got along. They liked to joke
back and fourth sometimes. Those two would exchange jokes and riddles. The slave man say, Mas,
you give me a riddle today and I figured it out. Now, tomorrow, I ll give you one.
And if you can t figure it out, said the slave, you give me my freedom in the mornin, too
All right, the slaveowner says, you bring me one in the morning.
A little further into the story we are told that the slave had an old dog who had died the night before.
His name was Love. The slave took a piece of Love s skin and tied around his hand. He then goes to
his master and tells him the

Online Dating And Its Impact On The World
With the advancement of the Internet, we have seen many changes in the dating world. Hundreds of
applications and websites have been created in order to connect people locally and internationally.
Among these websites and applications are online dating tools. Online dating began in 1995 when
Match.com was created, and has grown significantly since. Millennials (the generation born between
the 1980 s and the mid 2000 s) were born into the digital revolution. Growing up, we were more likely
to text to ask for a date, rather than in person, or even over the phone. Now that most Millennials are
teenagers or older, dating apps have become the new norm. With apps like OkCupid, Tinder, Grindr,
and more, traditional dating values have gone out the door to make room for online dating. The thing
our parents knew as courting, rarely exists within the Millennial generation. So, with all these knew
dating tools, the question becomes: Has online dating actually affected how Millennials date?
Literary Review In our research about online dating and the effect it has had on how Millennials date,
we found that there were some common ideas among writers. Because our topic is relatively new,
finding actual journals or research studies were hard. We decided to focus mostly on articles written
for big name websites like Forbes and Time. The first things we decided to look at were the statistics
of online dating. Online dating began in 1995 when Match.com was created. This is during a time

Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy (CP) is brain damage. It cannot be cured, it is not contagious, it is not a disease, and it
does not get worse. According to Funk Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, Cerebral Palsy is a broad
term for various nonprogressive disorders of motor function in people, resulting from brain damage
around the time of birth. Damage to the brain could occur before, during, or shortly after birth (
Cerebral ). Since the damage is done during the brain s formation, and occurs in the part of the brain
that controls motor and muscle functions, people with CP might have problems with motor skills,
muscle tone, muscle weakness, reflexes, balance, excessive drooling, difficulties swallowing or

Because CP describes a group of neurological and physical abnormalities, people affected by the
disorder may have other neurological and physical problems. CP may not be noticeable at birth.
Children with CP develop predictable developmental milestones slowly because of their motor
impairments, and these delays in reaching milestones are usually the first symptoms (Gale Enc).
Doctors diagnose CP by checking the infant s motor skills, looking for developmental delays, and
considering the child s medical history. Many Doctors use the Early Motor Pattern Profile (EMPP) to
help in their evaluations. The EMPP indicates variations in muscle tone, reflexes, and movement and
is used to identify children during the first year of life who are at risk for the development of CP. The
EMPP can be done during a routine office visit. Observation and minimal handling can detect
abnormal motor patterns, making it quick and inexpensive. EMPP is the beginning of evaluation and
intervention ( Early 692). CP is a neurological disorder affecting motor control. It is the most common
physical disability in childhood. It is a lifelong condition that varies from person to person. It can be
very mild or extremely severe. There is no known cure, and the cause is not completely understood.
The four main categories of CP are spastic, athetoid, ataxic, and mixed. Spastic is stiff and difficult
movement. Athetoid is involuntary and uncontrolled movement. Ataxic is a disturbed sense of balance

Personal Goals Influencing Marriage in the Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy
When one thinks of marriage, images of happiness, faithfulness, and unconditional love come to mind.
Marriages are not for allowing two lovers to accomplish personal goals, but rather for faithful
companions to live the rest of their lives together. In The Return of the Native, Thomas Hardy presents
the reader with two pairs of lovers that marry to accomplish personal goals, not because of a mutual
love and a desire to obtain a lifelong soul mate. Hardy reveals the true motives governing the
participants in the novels marriage alliances: Eustacia, Clym, Thomasin, and Wildeve marry to carry

A bewildered Clym answers It is very beautiful. But will you be mine? . Eustacia then asks even more
questions about Paris, such as, Now tell me of the Tuileries, and the Louvre. (Page201). Frustrated
with the lack of a solid answer from Eustacia, Clym cries I hate talking of Paris! , but this does not
stop Eustacia s constant flow of questions about the city. This is definitely not the expected response
to a proposal of marriage, and further evidences that Eustacia is more interested in a possible life in
Paris than the love of Clym Yeobright.
Clym Yeobright also is interested in marriage to help carryout his own personal goals in life. Before
the two meet face to face, without the mummer costume, Clym is introduced to Eustacia by Sam the
turf cutter. Sam reports to Clym that Eustacia is a handsome girl (Page 183) and that Clym ought to
check her out. Clym s first response to this is, Do you think she would like to teach children? (Page

about the possibility that she would be willing to help him in his desire to run a school. As the
relationship between the two progresses, Clym talks to his mother about his intent to marry Eustacia.
Naturally, Mrs. Yeobright objects. The first words of defense to come out of Clym s mouth are, She is

The Last Colony of Roanoke
Five hundred years ago, European explorers landed in North America. After trying to locate a new

Raleigh sent out two small troops lead by Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe to scout out a new

grapes of such greatness, yet wild, as France, Spain nor Italy hath no greater (Carpenter, Jeannine).
One of the islands they persuade looked like a perfect island to settle. In another letter he sent to Sir
Francis Walsingham, secretary to Queen Elizabeth, Lane seems to have enclosed a crude map, its
legends revealing a great store of fish and great red grapes very pleasant there (Carpenter, Jeannine).
This island was Roanoke, ten miles long and two and a half miles wide. These were all reasons why
the Roanoke colonists would have been able to establish a long term residence there.
They returned to England a year later with two Natives, Manteo and Wanchese (The Lost Colony).
With them they brought back plentiful information about the new lands they discovered. Among the

Children with Special Needs and How They Interact
As numerous people have stated before, if you want to understand someone, take a walk in their
shoes. From this, one is not able to truly comprehend the feelings someone may have or how many
difficulties a person endeavors on a day to day basis, unless they spend time with them. The topic that
I helped research as a group for our senior project was how students with special needs cooperate with
others like them, and then how they interact with people in society that do not have these needs. While
researching this project, I kept one question in mind, what similarities and differences occur with these
children when they are brought into these situations with new people. Through our mentor, we were

With proper guidance and support, these children with disabilities can be able to interact with other
children unlike them in a comfortable environment. Furthermore, it has been seen in many instants
where children with disabilities are able to interact with similar children with ease than to that of
others. A variety of reasons can be held accountable for this explanation, such as how much time is
spent with comparable children, and the emotions that are felt during these time periods. For example,
during our interview, our mentor was able to inform us on how caring the children are for one another,
which I feel takes into account where they spend the majority of their day in school together, and
those students are the children that they interact with almost everyday. Additionally, many will say
that the more time you spend with a person, the more you get to know them and care for them, which
is proof with these children. Some however, may not want to branch out and socialize with other
children, which even though I feel these students would benefit from the experience, people can not be
pressured into something they are not comfortable doing. When doing this sort of project, there are
certain risks and learning experiences that come with the opportunity we were presented with. In order
to fully commit myself to this project, a certain level of commitment and connection had to be made
with the task at hand. Before this project was assigned, I had

  • 3. The Values Of Michelangelo Buonarroti s Reputance Reputation is an opinion about entity (a person, a social group, an organization), typically a result of social evaluation on a set of criteria. Also, reputation may be considered as a component of identity as defined by others [ ]. This essay will talk about a very famous Italian Renaissance artist, considering the circumstances in which such artist had established his reputation. The essay intends to explain the values of the Renaissance era and their qualities, and then to apply this knowledge specifically to the reputation of Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet. The essay first describes the qualities of the Renaissance values in question, then focuses on the specific effects they had on Michelangelo. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His work received traditional criticism as irreligious in terms of its emphasis on the naked human body; since it is presented not as a religious figure but as a real human. His frescos and paintings contained many completely naked characters. In response to such uncommon arts, Roman Catholic Cardinal accused him of immorality and obscenity. The extreme concern for preserving morals led the Cardinal to call for a campaign to have the work removed or censored. Michelangelo was also criticized for his artistic choices, including his emphasis on the physical rather than the spiritual element. In many ways, the Michelangelo style was considered by others frivolous because instead of the focus on religion or the social concerns, the subjects were often contemporaries exploring humanism which was not accepted in Italy at that time. • 4. Media Acts And Its Impact On Society In our society today, media acts as an integral factor in creating and undoing social bonds, as well as communicating topics which enable social transformation. It is generally considered that political and economic subjects are rational and thus are treated as men s issues , in comparison to social and cultural themes expressed as sensitive and accordingly correlated with femininity (Stevenson 1995). Although this is open to much criticism in terms of gender inequality, it is undoubtable that gender equality is progressing. Women have enrolled into conventionally male dominated work places, reflecting the general consensus that women achieve better at school. Also, men have proceeded into normally female dominated areas such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the course of the 40 years it was found that in both newspapers was an evident gender bias, which has gradually overcome as new media genres have developed (Stanley, 2012). In the non elite paper women are hardly pictured, and in the elite magazine women show up just as often as men (Stanley, 2012). The audience of both papers consists of approximately 50% women and 50% men (Stanley, 2012). However, mirroring the diversity between elite and non elite newspapers, the typical reader of the New York Times has more formal education than is the case for the Daily News (Daily News, 2012) (News York Times, 2012). Stanley states that the article addresses a myriad of key questions. Firstly, the progress of women s appearance in newspapers today is explored in comparison to fifty years ago. Secondly, the location of where women are presented within the newspaper is of concern. An array of theoretical perspectives are provided, which are later used to justify and criticise findings. The first is an approach that the content within media is a parallel of realism; an increased number of women in society results in photography being progressively occupied by women. Drug tolerance is when increasing amounts of the drug are needed to gain the original, desired effect. This means that as a user continues to take a drug the desired effects lessen with the same dosage used over and over again because they are slowly building up a tolerance to the drug and its effects. But, if the user increases the dosage over time, they will be able to achieve that desired effect that they are looking for and in turn become more and more tolerant to the drug. George exemplifies this trait very well when he is in the delivery room and his wife is having their child. Before rushing his wife to the hospital George is shown taking/accidently inhaling cocaine as he packs for the trip. Once at the hospital and in the delivery room George is seen standing in a corner watching his wife give birth. George is standing fairly rigid while his hand is shaking uncontrollably and he has a grin of sorts on his face. This is him reacting to the drug and at the moment a drug induced heart attack as well. When George recovers the doctor tells him what had happened. George recollects by saying, The official toxicity limit for humans is between one and one and half grams of cocaine depending on body weight. I was averaging five grams a day, maybe more. I snorted ten grams in ten minutes once. I guess I had a high tolerance. This line in the movie shows how much of a tolerance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New York City aggressive program of Stop and Frisk have been widely criticized and considered unconstitutional. However, Stop and Frisk, per se is not unconstitutional unless people are being stopped illegally. It s a crime prevention tool that allows police officers to stop a person based on reasonable suspicion of criminal activity and to conduct a frisk based on reasonable suspicion that the person is armed. Some argue this policy was created to target minorities. Most of the people who have been stopped and frisked under this program have been African American or Hispanic. This concerns citizens and makes them oppose the policy because they believe its racial profiling and guided by color. Stop and frisk is now one of the biggest controversies in United States. It has become something that is affecting society in both a positive and negative way. Efficiency: Is or isn t stop and frisk an efficient strategy? What is the problem with effectiveness argument? Should the New York City Police department continue using Stop and Frisk or should they end the program? Do Stop and Frisk help to save lives? Mayor Bloomberg. The artistic directors are Amelie Hunter and Shana Menaker and I believe to be one hundred people or more in the theater. So it s a full house fill with students and adults alike. What I enjoy during the concert was the dancers performing without being distracted or scare by the audience. Granted it s to be expected and the dancers are not strangers to this, but nice to see performers not buckle down to the pressure of fear because of the audience. At the same time, I understand that they do, but what I have seen they didn t show it. What I don t like was not the quality the dances, but the different types of dances shown. Most dancers I saw only modern or contemporary pieces and the only thing different was the hip hop pieces. I didn t seem to find classical ballet, tap, jazz or anything to diversify the concert. My limited knowledge base of the American political class system mostly stems from high school US History classes and listening to my mom s stories of her experiences in the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my prior lack of knowledge on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some of his finer points. Part of my struggles may be largely due to the fact that Domhoff s intended audience for Who Rules America? is other experts in the field of understanding the sociology of the corporate elite and their resources of power. However, I believe that the book has given me a better, if not complete, understanding of the corporate elite and how they stay in power. I found the book to be extremely well researched. When Domhoff presents a point, he uses several sources and logical reasons to back up his theory. For example, when relating the dominance of the political elite on the government, Domhoff examines the amount of influence the corporate rich have in our judicial system by investigating the nine Supreme Court judges during the Obama administration. He discovered that all of them graduated from one of three elite institutions: Harvard, Yale, or Columbia (Domhoff, 178, 2014). Domhoff treats most of his assertions in a similar fashion; he uses extensive research backs up his claims. The book explains the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The writer at first calls this time period a paradox in the progress of women s history in the United States . During this time apparently two contradictory views on women s relations to society clashed, unusually, those two being domesticity, which essentially limited women, giving them a sex specific role that they must abide to, this mostly being present at the home with their husbands and whatever kids they may or may not have had at that time, and feminism, which essentially tried to remove this domesticity, trying to remove sex specific limits on women s opportunities and ... Masculinity didn t do a good job of attaining the hoped for standards, as they didn t have other equally profound consequences for American middle class culture at this time. It justified the exclusion of women from the world as acceptable to both women and men at this time, and it cultivated strong bonds around women as well. They in fact shared the biological experiences central to their definition as women and spoke the same language of virtue and piety, which essentially means that they instilled a awareness of a set of common goals for them and experiences present for them, which had values specific to women, and distinct from those of men. The key to this was the extensive networks of female friends that were present during this time period for these women. Since women were supposedly better than men during this time, it was feasible and easy to believe that women were obliged and privileged to work together and help other women, who were fallen, and poor, who were having some sort of trouble during this time period as a result of the society that they were present in during this time period. This can be portrayed in both Thomas Paine s Common Sense, and Henry David Thoreau Civil Disobedience. Throughout history, as the times have changed so has individuals perception on government. Both authors existed at a different time in history, but they both convey a similar message that citizens should disobey government but their idea of government is completely different. Henry David Thoreau wrote Civil Disobedience, which is about him trying to persuade citizens that their obligation is to contravene and correct the unfair laws of the government. Thoreau begins Civil Disobedience with the view point That government is best which governs least Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense, to explain his vision of the ideal government, one where people vote and elect a person to run the country, which is similar to our democracy today( the great power of government be held in one elected legislature for the nation and one for each individual province ). He mainly criticizes Great Britain and how we need to break away and become our own country or government? After his writing went public and explaining what had happened between America and Great Britain, it was time for America to finally secede. Thoreau believed that individual integrity had the ability to triumph the government. Thoreau went to jail because he refused to pay his poll taxes for the past six years. Also, he protested against the Mexican war, and slavery, which also contributed to him going to jail and his views on the government. During his short period in jail he clarified that he did not dread it, and portrayed it as Traveling into a far country (964). Although, Paine thought that individual integrity was very indistinct and unreasonable. Paine considered his individual rights to be violated by the government... The Great Reform Act 1832 The main issue is one that affected most of Society in the early 20th century. The main issue stemmed from outcry at The Great Reform Act 1832 which was introduced to amend the representation of the people in England and Wales. Before the 1832 Reform Act most men and all women did not have the vote. This act created a wider franchise but used the term male person , specifically excluding women. Alternative acts helped to enfranchise new sections of society and gave most men the vote, leaving sex the principal ground for disqualification. As a result, debates about fitness for citizenship and the vote, which had previously centred around wealth, property ownership and education, now revolved around questions of gender. It was that women, did not have the right to vote for the men that were in power creating laws and such which they had to follow. The laws and aspects of society which they were made to follow without any say in the creation of them were things such as taxes. Women were denied the vote for many reasons, most being justified by men. Most men and some women at the time, against women gaining the vote believed in Conservatism, they thought that the way the laws were, had been the same for many years, and they saw no need to change something that worked for the benefit of all those in society at the time. it was also a widespread belief that women should remain in the home and take care of their natural duties , such as cleaning, cooking, etc. Women at ... In The Flying Machine the emperor did not like that the inventor had made the flying machine to help China, he saw it as a machine that could fall into the wrong hands and cause rocks thrown at the Great Wall of China. African American Culture through Oral Tradition Essays African American Culture through Oral Tradition African American folktales have origins rooted in West African literary and cultural forms of expression. When Africans were taken from their homeland and brought to America as slaves, they also brought with them their individual cultures, languages and customs. However, their white slaveholders suppressed this part of their heritage in them. Thus they had to find other ways of expression, mainly story telling and songs. It is incredible to see how African slaves could ever smile and laugh under the horrible and cruel circumstances, which were imposed on them by the brutal slaveholders. They were able to accomplish this by the use of hidden meaning in their words and the ultimate result was that they outwitted their masters and proved that they were not, after all an inferior race. The idea of a slave outwitting his master is seen clearly in many old folktales. Virginia Hamilton, a distinguished writer of fiction for children today, published a book called The People Could Fly, which is a compilation of African American folklore stories. One of the folktales in her book reflects the idea that most slaves told stories in which the slave owner would be outfoxed by his slave. The following is a brief summary of the story named The Riddle Tale of Freedom. Now here it tis. Long time ago, there was a slave and a slave owner. The got along. They liked to joke back and fourth sometimes. Those two would exchange jokes and riddles. The slave man say, Mas, you give me a riddle today and I figured it out. Now, tomorrow, I ll give you one. And if you can t figure it out, said the slave, you give me my freedom in the mornin, too All right, the slaveowner says, you bring me one in the morning. • 32. Online Dating And Its Impact On The World With the advancement of the Internet, we have seen many changes in the dating world. Hundreds of applications and websites have been created in order to connect people locally and internationally. Among these websites and applications are online dating tools. Online dating began in 1995 when Match.com was created, and has grown significantly since. Millennials (the generation born between the 1980 s and the mid 2000 s) were born into the digital revolution. Growing up, we were more likely to text to ask for a date, rather than in person, or even over the phone. Now that most Millennials are teenagers or older, dating apps have become the new norm. With apps like OkCupid, Tinder, Grindr, and more, traditional dating values have gone out the door to make room for online dating. The thing our parents knew as courting, rarely exists within the Millennial generation. So, with all these knew dating tools, the question becomes: Has online dating actually affected how Millennials date? Literary Review In our research about online dating and the effect it has had on how Millennials date, we found that there were some common ideas among writers. Because our topic is relatively new, finding actual journals or research studies were hard. We decided to focus mostly on articles written for big name websites like Forbes and Time. According to Funk Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, Cerebral Palsy is a broad term for various nonprogressive disorders of motor function in people, resulting from brain damage around the time of birth. Damage to the brain could occur before, during, or shortly after birth ( Cerebral ). CP may not be noticeable at birth. Children with CP develop predictable developmental milestones slowly because of their motor impairments, and these delays in reaching milestones are usually the first symptoms (Gale Enc). Doctors diagnose CP by checking the infant s motor skills, looking for developmental delays, and considering the child s medical history. Many Doctors use the Early Motor Pattern Profile (EMPP) to help in their evaluations. The EMPP indicates variations in muscle tone, reflexes, and movement and is used to identify children during the first year of life who are at risk for the development of CP. The EMPP can be done during a routine office visit. Observation and minimal handling can detect abnormal motor patterns, making it quick and inexpensive. EMPP is the beginning of evaluation and intervention ( Early 692). CP is a neurological disorder affecting motor control. It is the most common physical disability in childhood. It is a lifelong condition that varies from person to person. It can be very mild or extremely severe. There is no known cure, and the cause is not completely understood. Personal Goals Influencing Marriage in the Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy When one thinks of marriage, images of happiness, faithfulness, and unconditional love come to mind. Marriages are not for allowing two lovers to accomplish personal goals, but rather for faithful companions to live the rest of their lives together. In The Return of the Native, Thomas Hardy presents the reader with two pairs of lovers that marry to accomplish personal goals, not because of a mutual love and a desire to obtain a lifelong soul mate. Hardy reveals the true motives governing the participants in the novels marriage alliances: Eustacia, Clym, Thomasin, and Wildeve marry to carry out their individual plans for the future, rather than for love ... This is definitely not the expected response to a proposal of marriage, and further evidences that Eustacia is more interested in a possible life in Paris than the love of Clym Yeobright. Clym Yeobright also is interested in marriage to help carryout his own personal goals in life. Before the two meet face to face, without the mummer costume, Clym is introduced to Eustacia by Sam the turf cutter. Sam reports to Clym that Eustacia is a handsome girl (Page 183) and that Clym ought to check her out. Clym s first response to this is, Do you think she would like to teach children? (Page 183). This brief passage shows that when presented with the opportunity to marry, Clym first thinks about the possibility that she would be willing to help him in his desire to run a school. As the relationship between the two progresses, Clym talks to his mother about his intent to marry Eustacia. Naturally, Mrs. Yeobright objects. Furthermore, it has been seen in many instants where children with disabilities are able to interact with similar children with ease than to that of others. A variety of reasons can be held accountable for this explanation, such as how much time is spent with comparable children, and the emotions that are felt during these time periods. For example, during our interview, our mentor was able to inform us on how caring the children are for one another, which I feel takes into account where they spend the majority of their day in school together, and those students are the children that they interact with almost everyday. Additionally, many will say that the more time you spend with a person, the more you get to know them and care for them, which is proof with these children. Some however, may not want to branch out and socialize with other children, which even though I feel these students would benefit from the experience, people can not be pressured into something they are not comfortable doing.
