History of Database Technology
History of Database Technology Past and Present
The term database was popularized with the growth of the computer industry and is typically thought
of as software used to store, index, manipulate, and retrieve information (Vaughn). Database software
has been in use since the Census Bureau used a punch card system to meet the requirements for the
collection, sorting, and reporting of data for the 1890 census (National Research Council). These
earliest databases were flat file databases. The flat file style of database works well for small amounts
of data that need to be organized to be read and edited by hand. Flat file databases are made up of
tables that store a set number of characters in each field. The individual tables are ... Show more

For the most part these two are relatively similar. IDEA is an excellent data manipulating utility that
permits auditors to translate data files to or from word processors, relational databases, spreadsheets,
and integrated accounting systems using a number of data formats. The purpose of IDEA is to allow
external auditors to examine and sample extracted data files. IDEA software incorporates a database
that produces statistics and summaries, by extracting data that meets a specified criterion being
queried. The user can then browse through data displaying it graphically, or by printing custom
designed reports.
The ACL software uses a combination of data access, analysis and integrated reporting capabilities, to
reach data from virtually any source, across any system, through a consistent user interface. ACL
technology enables audit, financial, and control professionals to gain immediate insight into
transactional data underlying their business processes and financial reporting.
Another frequently used CAATT is the Generalized Audit Software (GAS), which allows data to be
extracted and analyzed. The main reasons for the widespread use of GAS is that it requires very little
specialized information systems knowledge, and its adaptability to a variety of environments and
users. Although auditors often have some degree of difficulty in preparing the data for its first use, the
end results is that it

The Competitive Advantage Of Zara
Zara, one of the world s largest apparel retailers, was founded in 1975 in La Coruna, Spain. With its
successful rollout in the Spanish market, it began to expand its stores around the world, and became
one of the most profitable brands in the appalling market. Zara was famous for its ability to quickly
respond to the market demands, which provides a useful lesson in terms of competitive advantage
with its competitors. But confronting to the fast paced and constantly changing market, if a company
wants to consistently increase market share in order to survive in the competitive market, it is
irrefutable that it needs to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, since the achievement of
sustainable competitive advantage can be expected to lead to higher performance. The resource based
view (RBV), which emphasizes the internal capabilities of a firm to attain sustainable competitive
advantage in its market and industry, could be an excellent tool to explain why a company can be
superior to others (Sheehan and Foss, 2007). Hence, the main purpose of this essay is to evaluate
whether and how Zara generates its sustainable competitive advantage, drawing on the resource based
view literature. Resource based view of Zara The resource based view emphasizes the internal
accumulation of firms resources and capabilities that contribute to firms development (Peteraf, 1993).
Resources include all assets, attributes, knowledge, etc. (Barney, 1991), which enables the firm to

Comparing The Themes Of Zaymond s Run And
The themes of ¨Raymond s Run¨ and ¨All American Slurp¨ have an impact on the characters of both of
the stories such as Squeaky and the Lin daughter. Both main characters have a desire to fit in with the
average person and enjoy being part of society. However, their behavior does not conform to the
average person instead they remain as individuals that stand out instead of being like everyone else.
By wanting one thing but living another way develops the theme of Squeaky and the Lin daughter in
the reality of life. The themes in both stories deal with family and how we may act when we are not
around those family members or if we have to stand with family members against friends or other
people in society. In ¨Raymond s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

culture because she just wants to fit in. Her parents will not allow her to wear blue jeans, but her
younger brother can. She is upset to wear traditional chinese clothing and see her parents allow her
younger brother the chance to get jeans and wear them is tough. The food they eat is different and this
also makes her stand out. Her parents refuse to let her become Americanized and she is angry. Even
when they are invited to a dinner party at their neighbor s house, the Gleasons, the Lin family has not
quite adapted to the american way of life. I cannot imagine moving to another country and wanting to
fit in. Learning a language would be hard enough but to have to live under strict family rules would
make it even harder. That is how the theme of All American Slurp affects the main character or the Lin
daughter. Both these stories show how hard it can be for kids to fit in. The themes of Raymond s Run
and All American Slurp affected the main characters of both stories who are Squeaky and the lin
daughter. Evidence how they were both affected by both themes is Squeaky was affected by the theme
of Raymond s Run because when she got rabid when other people made fun of Raymond people
would look at her in a different way. How the theme of All American Slurp affected the Lin daughter
is since she was chinese her family may have had a contrasting way of life such as food or

Surfing Research
Surfing contains a lot of arm work paddling towards and away from the waves and in order to
minimize this work, surfers maximize their ride (Connor and Tessa, personal interviews). The body is
exceptionally engaged in surfing. Each stroke of the arm and shifting motion engages a different
muscle. When you hear about people surfing you think of the stereotypical muscles used in your core.
Often the first thing that comes time mind is the intensity of balance and the strain it must place on
those core muscles. While this information is true, there is a part of your body being used even more
than your core. From my experiences on the water, the biggests working muscles while surfing are
your arm and back muscles. As Connor McMurdo puts it, The arm and back muscles are essential to

The actions of surfing are paddling, standing up, holding balance, and maneuvering the board along
the wave. The first action, paddling, engages many muscles all along the back and into the arms.
Paddling works your Latissimus Dorsi (found in your lower back), your Trapezius (found in the upper,
back of your neck) and your deltoides (found in the shoulders) (Tessa Bolter, personal interview 1).
According to Hypervibe.com; Paddling out uses deltoides, biceps, and triceps, which is all upper body
and found in the arms and shoulders ( ). From my observations of surfers, paddling takes up the
majority of the time on the water. Paddling out to the spot on the water you would like works all of
these muscles for long periods of time. Likewise paddling away from the wave as fast as you can in
order to catch and stand up on the wave is another chunk of a surfers time. Popping up on the wave
and riding it as well as maneuvering the wave can be a mere 30 seconds of working your muscles.
Pushing yourself up on the board while on a mo While so many muscles are engaged In just standing

agilely responding to market changes (BPM Reports, 2007).
Below is the positioning map describing where Omnicron is targeting to:
Problem Analysis
Ben s Omnicrons Pty Ltd is a company with a highly functional organizational structure. The
managers and employees of six different departments are focusing too narrowly on their own tasks,
performing them in isolation without comprehending previous and subsequent steps outside their
functional silos , therefore losing the sight of the whole picture of the larger business process (Magal
amp; Word, 2009). Lack of sufficient communication leads to lack of consideration of workers from
each functional group to their consequences for the other components of the process. The company
had never put much effort and time into developing streamlined, computer based and IT utilized
business process. The overwhelming reliance on paper based manual methods to get things done has
resulted in the insufficient coordination of the whole value chain.

Final Three Crusades Essay
Catholicism is a religion based upon the commandments instilled by Jesus Christ Son of God. The
final three crusades were uncontrolled by the pope and led to rape, theft, pillaging, a dark past that has
shaped the future of Catholicism today. The Roman Catholic crusades where Catholic wars started to
try and regain control over Jerusalem (the holy land), and to expand the religion, the final three
crusades however derived from the initial purpose and led to destruction. The purpose of the research I
have done over Roman Catholic Crusades is to get a deeper understanding as to why the Catholic
leaders used Crusades to expand their religious beliefs and the outcomes both good and bad of the
crusades. The first three crusades were initiated to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crusades where intended to spread Christianity Universally. However many of the actions during
the crusades did not promote peace as they where intended (William J.). Many Europeans feeling the
need to join the cause in crusades, joined the cause with nothing but wooden crosses, many people
abandoned their homes to join on the journey. Crusades left many people dead in the Middle East.
Jerusalem being the major goal of conquest of the crusaders in the end many of the crusades failed or
simply turned back (Brown, Bryan). Europeans used Crusades to expand Christianity. The Crusades
where considered unsuccessful. Many of them brought tragedy to local Christians, which was part of
the reason of the failure in the crusades. The crusades however did leave some practices instilled in the
later religions that where to be made. Through these crusades a lot of the new religions adapted
practices that are now influential in there religious practices (William E.). Emilie Gogalak gives us an
interesting out look of how crusades brought together many faiths. She also gives us a belief that
maybe the crusades where not sparked for religious beliefs but simply for power and money (Emilie

Robert Iger Knew That For Disney To Be Successful, The

CEO is reflecting on the next steps to be taken by Disney. The available options include negotiating a
new distribution deal with Pixar or other animation studios, acquire Pixar, or to reengineer Disney
Animation to better compete with Pixar.

From our research, the percentage of revenue of home videos was almost three times higher than the
box office, which shows that the use of animation in the movie industry was not as popular at that
time. 2 D animation was the traditional way to produce a movie and was also used for most movies
before 3 D animation came out. Therefore, 3 D animation technology still has a lot of room for
improvement and development which is one of the opportunities. More information on SWOT
analysis is stated in the appendix from Figure 1.
Disney would only want to acquire Pixar given the benefits outweigh the costs and not vice versa.
Knowing the different costs and benefits is crucial in making this decision. First, Disney would be
able to get access to Pixar s proprietary 3 D computer animation software technology at lower cost
than Disney to develop the similar technology themselves. Pixar s software programs are
revolutionary compared to the traditional 2 D animation. These programs gave Pixar the capability to
reduce the time of making animation. Therefore, this capability provides Pixar a substantial cost
advantage while other studios that used 2 D animation require huge time investment and large staff of
drawers. Through acquisition, Disney could focus on its advantage on creating the colorful storyline
and characters, which are the core factors to make high quality films.

The Derogatory Effects Of Pride On Human Life
The derogatory effects of pride on human life is an idea that runs through William Shakespeare s play
Julius Caesar. Caesar himself is consumed by pride, and the way that others treat him only reinforces
his idea that his is the strongest man in the world, and certainly the only man fit to lead Rome. Caesar
s ambition, which was caused by his pride, convinces Brutus that, despite his love for Caesar, Caesar
would only hurt Rome, and therefore must die. More than that, however, Caesar s pride directly causes
his downfall. Throughout Julius Caesar, Shakespeare shows the audience how Caesar s pride blinds
him to signs and omens that would otherwise cause him worry. Soothsayers in Ancient Rome were
very well respected. The words of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience can assume that his pride is the main reason that he ignored the soothsayer s words.
Caesar, as evident by his prompt dismissal of a man warning him of his own demise, sees himself as
above the common folk, and above the influence of the fates. This trait, which he exhibits on several
occasions, eventually leads to his end.
Similar to how soothsayers had a very significant role in Roman society, dreams also played a large
part in the daily lives of Roman citizens. On the eve of the ides of March, Calphurnia has a nightmare
foreshadowing Caesar s inevitable assassination. According to Caesar, Nor heaven nor earth have been
at peace tonight/Thrice hath Calphurnia in her sleep cried out/ Help, ho! They murder Caesar! (JC
2.2.1 3). He recognizes the strangeness of the events that are going on, but he seems to not accept
them. Despite this, he still has a servant contact priests to decide his course for the day. In saying this
he is showing apprehension about the strange omens, and is attempting to take precautionary measures
against bad luck. However, despite this seeming change of heart, a few lines later Caesar has already
made up his mind to approach the day as if these omens had never happened. In his mind, nothing can
harm him. He makes this clear by saying The things that threatened me/Ne er looked but on my back.
When they shall see/The face of Caesar, they are vanished. (JC 2.2.10 12). He, despite these bad

Inventing Historical Truth On The Silver Screen Analysis
When viewing films of the past, we then form a counter discourse because we can compare it to
modern day views and beliefs. The article, Inventing Historical Truth on the Silver Screen, by Robert
Rosenstone, explains having a current perspective on history and how we interpret it. Written
historical documents can only be backed up by truth so far. These films Amistad, 1776, and The Black
Robe, can help form ideas of what might have happened, but that is what they are used for, to help
mold and shape historical events to the present day.
It is clear and obvious that slavery is wrong and never should have happened, but certain people
decided differently. Of course we do not obtain video footage of such historical event and go off of
verbal and written documentation, but the movie Amistad, goes into detail about how the slaves were
treated. It was inhumane and they were treated worse than animals. They were captured, traded in
from their own people, beaten, killed, raped, separated from families, forced to work and do things no
one should ever have to go through. But for public purposes, it did not show everything they went
through. The movie definitely softens certain clips for the reason of who might watch the film and for
what they would be allowed to film and produce. A few examples would be when the shipmen were
softly kissing on the women slaves on the boat, how the movie portrayed the selling of slaves, and
how Baldwin received one swat on his head and a few death letters. ... Show more content on

As such, for the first time the owners of companies were not directly involved in the day to day
operation of the entities. This resulted in the formation boards of directors charged with overseeing
and charting the direction of these entities. This is now referred to as shareholder capitalism (Grant,
2012), where a firm is to act in the best interests of its shareholders.
This separation of the owners and managers of the business is the central reason for the existence of
what is now referred to as corporate governance. As discussed by Smith (Smith, 1776), Berle (Berle,
1932) and Tricker (Tricker, 2012), this created several differing schools of thought. Concepts now
referred to as agency, stewardship, resource dependence and enlightened stakeholder theories
combined with ideas such as managerial and class hegemony and evolving social stakeholder
philosophies will form the basis of our review into the abilities of boards to act in a self regulating
manner. This paper will explore each of these in an attempt to discern if a pattern either has or is likely
to emerge that enables boards to form a self regulating social system.
Agency theory as a concept was first posed by the economist Adam Smith (Smith, 1776). He

The Importance Of Imersion Experiences
The summer immersion experiences are two or three week readiness programs. These immersion
experiences are for students with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD or other learning differences. The
program has two separate concentrations; the college focus and the career and life focus. The college
focused immersion experience is for students entering 9 12 grades or transferring to college. The
program recognizes the importance of a student feeling comfortable and supported by a college they
attend no matter what their level of ability is, but especially when a student is diagnosed with
ASD/LD. This program assists students with being able to determine their own needs, self advocate
their needs, and expose students to different types of college programs (Transitions, 2016). Students
who attend this immersion program will tour colleges with strong ASD/LD supports, take part in
composition labs for college and scholarship application essays, develop communication and social
skills, and earn college credit (Transitions, 2016). The career and life focused immersion experience is
for young adults up to age 27 who want to start careers and live on their own. This program works to
teach students core skills found to be essential for career success. Students will learn how to properly

gender binaries, which stipulates individuals of each sex to conform to the ideologies of masculinity

connection between socialisation and gender identity in regards with adolescence, which is supported
through the findings of Erik Erikson and Lawrence Kohlberg.
Erik Erikson s Theory:
Erik Erikson (1902 1994) used Freud s findings as a foundation to develop a theory about human stage
development. During Erikson s work from 1950 1963 he added modifications to Freud s findings
resulting in a proposition of a psychoanalytic theory of psychosocial development that occurs over a
human s lifespan and encompasses all life stages of human development; infancy (birth to 18 months),
early childhood (2 to 3 years), preschool (3 to 5 years), school age (6 to 11 years), adolescence (12 to
18 years), young adulthood (19 to 40 years), middle adulthood (40 to 65 years) and maturity 65 to
death) (simplypsychology.org). Each stage has a positive or negative outcome based off when the
human experiences a psychosocial crisis in which results one s personality development. Erikson
based his findings off the term, crisis . He used the term for different implications of each human

Commodity In Sweetness And Power
According to the Oxford dictionary, commodity is any raw material that can be bought and sold for
economic means. That said, sugar and coffee are all commodities, because they can be sold and
bought for a monetary value. The problem with this description however is that by simplifying the
word commodity into a material gain or based on money, it s undermining the value of the material
like its cultural worth and origin. Therefore, this is reason why when we buy sugar, we see it based on
its tastiness or its financial worth, but rarely as a material that can cause social ,cultural and even
historically difference; which is why the book Sweetness and power is important in revealing the
relational and historical fact about sugar.

Christianity s Domination Of The Roman Empire
Some may credit Christianity s domination of the Roman Empire to Constantine s Edict of Milan. This
edict was a continuation of the Edict of Galerius, which essentially stated that despite the disapproval
of the Roman government, Christians were allowed to continue worshipping, as long as they prayed
for the well being of the state and allowed the government some control of the magistrates (Knipfing
697). The Edict of Milan furthered this by granting both to Christians and to all men freedom of
choice in following such form of worship as they wish ( The Edict of Milan 1). However, due to
evangelistic practices already in place, the Edict of Galerius and the Edict of Milan was superfluous to
the rise and spread of Christianity. The Edicts of Galerius and Milan were decreed to stop persecution
of the Christians that had lasted since the movement began. Persecution of Christians had begun as
early as the Emperor Nero s rule. Persecution went on automatically, if sporadically...until the third
century (G. E. M. de Ste. Croix, Early Christians 15). Christians were persecuted simply for being
Christians. At the beginning of their movement, many pagan Romans believed all Christians were
incest and cannibals because of the secrecy of their rituals. Once the apologetic works of Augustine
and others were written to defend the Christian practices that were the source of these ideas, the only
claim against someone being a Christian was their questionable loyalty to the state.

Nasa s Space Exploration
When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not describe it
fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth exists and is made up
of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has turned into so much more;
with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which there is a possibility that other

These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries like the fact that life was once present

One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows the
belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of
Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is
that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to
Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort
that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. (9) This argument is
understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests depleting is occurring provides
more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would allow for a rebirth and have the
world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by humanity s daily lives. A third argument is
that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it.
According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of our species powerfully suggests that progress will
come from continued stable life on Earth, and that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to
a new period of human stagnation. (11) This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered,
but Westfahl fails to acknowledge that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our
universe and our planet. This allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to

Personal Statement On Personal Finance
Knowledge about personal finance is not always common knowledge and although money touches
most modern homes, most parents don t teach their kids about money either. It can be hard to find time
in a busy schedule to figure out when and how to adjust your time to set up a proper budget so instead
you just decide to live pay check to paycheck because it got your parents by and now it gets you by
and that has just always worked. One day you have to grow up and realize that those consequences of
being financially stupid will come back to haunt you.
Introduction
The biggest issue that individuals have with their personal income is the lack of understanding where
and how to control their spending habits and sometimes when to pay bills. This causes a great deal of
anxiety, stress, depression, unkempt hygiene and possibly even losing the very job that is keeping their
income flowing in to start with. With couples, the number one cause of relationship issues that are
brought in front of a therapist and the number one cause of divorce just so happens to be financially
related. The hardest yet most important thing to do when it comes to your finances, it to stop getting
overwhelmed and take control back of your money and your life. Most people don t know where to
start when it comes to taking control of their finances. When I think of the short term aspect of
personal finances, I think of the here the now and the coming few months, maybe even up to a year. If

A Summary Of Sherman Alexie
Sherman Alexie had a different mindset than the other Indian kids on the reservation. He was smart
and arrogant with the mindset and discipline to the refusal to fail. His will not be put into the
stereotype set by the non Indian world around him. He would not be denied the opportunity to better
his future despite the hatred that he experienced on a daily basis. To guarantee that he would not fail
he began reading at any given point in time he had. He would read before and after class, before and
after bed, etc. etc. At any given time Sherman Alexie would read anything Green 2 that had words and
paragraphs. He read everything from novels that his father brought home all the way up to cereal
boxes with words. To some growing up on a reservation with no education, the ones who do receive a
formal education or tea themselves are often looked down upon by the other Indians. They look at
them as if they are dangerous to the society because they are more advanced and skilled than they are.
Sherman Alexie often had issues in school with some of the other kids because of this skill that he
possessed. Alexie appeals to the audience and builds his credibility by describing where he comes
from. Alexie is an Indian who spent his youth facing childhood on an Indian reservation in Spokane
Washington. He discusses how poor his family was and how they, lived on a combination of irregular
paychecks, hope, fear, and government surplus food. (14) He says this to demonstrate that he didn t

The Career Of Becoming A Doctor Essay
The career that I have chosen to pursue is an Internist (General Physician). In kindergarten,
Mrs.Knowles asked, What do you want to be when you grow up ? My answer was to become a doctor;
little did I know that career goal would stick with me for the rest of my life. Growing up, seeing my
mother and godmother on their way to becoming medical assistants began to enhance my interest in
the medical field.Skimming through their textbooks amazed me on how the human body is so
complex yet so captivating. Getting accepted to Hillcrest High School s Pre Med Program made me
ecstatic. The rigorous science and advanced mathematics courses were beginning to prepare me for
my future endeavours. My academic interest in becoming a doctor was evident, but soon, there was an
emotional connection. August 31, 2015 is a day I will never forget. My mom had just gotten into a car
accident; there were a million thoughts and emotions rushing through me. Arriving at the hospital, I
was scared but anxious to see her. When I walked into the room, tears immediately came to my eyes
seeing her in a neck brace. Initially, I thought she was in stable condition because she only complained
only about a slight back pain. What happened a few moments after she said those words will never be
erased from my mind. My mother had a seizure right before my eyes. The doctors rushed in as I
remained speechless; it felt as if everything around me was moving but I could not hear a thing. It was
a tough night

Fairy Lore In Clap Your Hands If You Believe
By the same token, the episode Clap Your Hands if You Believe (S.6, Ep.9), explores fairy lore further.
In this episode, Sam and Dean once again travel to Indiana in order to investigate disappearances and
claims of UFO sightings. Upon Sam and Dean s arrival in the town, the audience is introduced to a
scene reminiscent of X Files, where local witnesses and townspeople recount their alien abductions
and their experiences. The father of the first abductee is Mr. Brennen a traditional watchmaker that

This similarity is yet another way in which Supernatural melds traditional Celtic folklore/fairylore

which is a common feature of fairies: they can be either a few feet tall and look relatively like humans
or appear as normal humans (see plate 3.). Dean is attacked by a fairy whilst in jail for attacking a
human suffering from dwarfism. Upon my first viewing of the episode, it was assumed that the
attacker was a fairy solely based on the fact that only Dean was able to see him. It was not until after

Examples Of Loyalty In Hachiko
Friendship and Loyalty
People can t live alone. As social being, people always need someone to consider as their friend. Aside
from human, most people prefer dogs, cats, rabbits, or others as their bestfriend. These are social
creatures that accompany people to play, exercise, and perform any other activities together.
To pet owners, dogs provided physical health through exercise motivation; comfort and
companionship; an avenue for dog owners meet new friends, support and love as family members; a
listening ear as therapists, and a feeling of protection and safety when out walking (Knight Edwards

Usually, family members communicate with each other, and having similar communication with pets
is part of viewing them as family. Pets respond through vocalizations and gestures, which are
understood by their owners, sometimes in special ways. Some people prefer the intimate
communication they share with their pet over conversations with humans.
There are different levels of affection and respect that people have for their pets, but the term family
members is used quite often. Cohen (2002) explores this trend in three different ways: (a) Pets are like
human family; (b) pets are part of a broader social network system but not family; (c) pets are family
members only in a linguistically playful way. (621).
Whether people joke about their pets as children or not, the idea of companion animals as specific kin
or generic family members is becoming much more accepted in western cultural systems, and we have
to pay much more attention to it. If we do not recognize the intense emotional bonds people have with
animals, we risk damaging both the human and the pet s well being when they are forced to separate
for various reasons (housing, illness, family disputes). Beyond psychological issues, if we discount or
ignore the importance of pets in the kinship network in anthropological studies, we risk missing out on
a rich area of human relations, which will enrich the field of cultural

Genocide In Greek Genocide
One of the most gruesome genocides to happen during the 20th century is the Greek Genocide, often
referred to as the Pontian or Ottoman Greek Genocide. This genocide consisted of mass killings and
exterminations of the Ottoman Greeks by the Turkish rule from 1914 1923. The main dispute was
difference in religion and beliefs, Christians versus Islam. What most people do not know is that the
Ottoman Greek Genocide is responsible for the almost complete destruction of the Christian Orthodox
culture, including monuments and history. Many Greeks suffered from forced deportations, death
marches, forced conversion of religion, executions, labor battalions, hunger, and the overall cruelty of
the Turkish government during this time period. The ones responsible for these acts was the
Committee of Union and Progress (CUP) and the Young Turk reformists who seized control of the
Ottoman Empire. Ottoman Greeks of all ages and genders were persecuted because of their culture
and minority in Turkey, so that the CUP and the Young Turks could achieved perfect Turkification of
the empire. The events of the Pontian Greek Genocide happened in the westernmost part of Asia
called Asia Minor or Anatolia, which is the Greek word for east . The Greeks first settled in Asia
Minor around the 11th century (BC). From the 4th century (AD), Asia Minor s main religious practice
has been Christianity in which it has played an important role in the development of Christianity. For a

The Three Messages from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are...
Throughout my high school career, I ve never worked with anything that has made me think so much.
Sure, you can watch the play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at face value, have a few laughs
until it stops being funny, and then go on with your life. But you aren t getting out of it all that Tom
Stoppard intended. This play is so much more than just an accompanying work to Hamlet. It fleshes
out the characters of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in a way that makes you consider your own life!
And if you really want to take anything from this play, you need to understand the messages it
contains. This is a challenge to some, because of how deeply they contrast with the play at face value.
But, if you can look deeper, you will a couple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are incredibly indecisive, and they just get dragged away by the
currents on the river of life. They are always being told what to do and where to go, and they never
question it. They never stop and think, maybe, we don t have to do this. Unfortunately, they don t
notice this until too late. Once they knew they were doomed, Guildenstern reminisces that at some
point, there had to have been a time where they could have said no; where they could have stopped all
of this from happening. It didn t matter anymore though. They were done. This play is saying that
people need to take charge of their lives, and make their own decisions. Don t just let life pass you by.
Lastly, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead teaches the message of knowing your identity. What
were Rosencrantz and Guildenstern missing, above all else? It s not remembering the past; they could
have just worried about the future. It s not decision making; they could have gotten along fine just
following someone else s lead. It works for most people. What they were really missing was their
identities. Neither Rosencrantz nor Guildenstern had fully developed a sense of self. Neither really did
anything that made them distinct from the other. In essence, they were the same, and interchangeable.
This was made clear throughout the duration of the play, because of several small details. When the
two were greeted by people, they often got their names confused. The

Big conference schools that have successful seasons are all but assured a spot in the tournament.
Committee members discuss strength of schedule statistics, wins against highly ranked opponents and
simple human feelings about which teams are more deserving.
As the actual selection of schools progresses, members use the Rating Percentage Index (RPI), to

final seeding. This is actually a very detailed formula.
The RPI includes the team s winning percentage, their opponents winning percentage and even the

quadrants that consider good wins and even bad losses .
The final 64 teams are split into four regions. Teams are seeded from 1 to 16, and matched in reverse

How Did John Maynard Keynes Influence The Modern World
John Maynard Keynes, is considered one of the heavy weights when it comes to modern economic
theory. In today s world there are two major schools of thought when it comes to economics, Classical
and Keynesians. This shows you the impact that he had in the world of economics. His studies and
writings have shaped our modern world.
Keynes got involved into economics because of the time period in which he lived in. He was seeing
the effects of the great depression in his home of Great Britain. The measures taken to stop the great
depression all fell within the school of classical economics. Two events spurred Keynes development
of his new model. The first was the inability of the British economy to overcome the Great
Depression.

Inventory And Inventory Control System
INTRODUCTION:
The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need. Taichi Ohno
What is Inventory?
Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished goods
that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to customers.
Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually good for
a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other hand, we also
need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the business runs the
risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. (1)
In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been followed and
there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and flow of inventory. Typically
there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for effective
Inventory Management:
Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs to
satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a prediction as to which product the
customers would purchase and also determine the quantity of products that will be purchased.
Everything in a push system is decided on basis of a prediction and forecasting and that is the major
flaw in the system. These forecasts are often inaccurate as well as

That was important on the summer day I picked to hike the summit. There are a number of trails

Gender Roles In The Fairy Tale
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm wrote their version of Cinderella in 1812. The fairy tale is about a young
girl who is forced to live with her two evil stepsisters and stepmother. Cinderella tries to be positive
and devout, even though her family is atrocious to her. In the end, the prince takes Cinderella to his
castle and they live happily ever after. The story describes the gender roles, conflicts, and implies how
the story has changed over time. Frequently in the story, the characters traits are based on their gender.
The women tend to be more focused on their outward appearance, as the men look at and judge
women on how beautiful they are. Cinderella was a perfect archetype of how women are judged today

Her stepmother didn t treat her very fairly either. She refused to let Cinderella go to the festival
because she was unkempt, and she didn t want Cinderella to ruin her reputation (Grimm 3). Her
stepmother also didn t want Cinderella to try on the shoe the prince brought because, again, she was
too dirty (Grimm 8). As well as Cinderella having bounteous rivalries with those in her household, she
probably also struggled with herself. When Cinderella s mom died, she told her to Always be good
and pious, and God will take care of you, and I will look down upon you from heaven, and will be
with you (Grimm 1). With all that Cinderella s been through, that must be unimaginably hard to live
by every day. Cinderella still pushed through the hardships and ends up coming out on top. The story
of Cinderella has changed countless ways throughout time. Everyone tells a story differently and puts
their own twist on it. Over time, all the details can start to look completely different from the original.
In the Disney version of Cinderella, there was a fairy godmother who granted Cinderella s wish to go
to the ball. The only condition was that she be home by midnight or everything would disappear. In
the original story, Cinderella puts a hazel twig on her mother s grave, and it grows into a tree that has a
bird who grants all of Cinderella s wishes with no conditions (Grimm 2). The Disney and Grimm

Stop Drinking Soda Research Paper
Introduction
You want to lose 12 pounds per year? Or how about avoiding something that can cause lifelong
paralysis or death? There is one simple thing we can do to avoid these tragic outcomes and at the same
time, help America. What is this one simple thing, you may ask? The answer is, by stop consuming
soda.
Thesis Statement
Stop the consumption of soda makes good sense for us as an individual and as a society. In this paper,
after we examine its harmful ingredients, and the specific ways it can hurt your health, you ll see why
you should stop consuming soda. Then, we ll explore the healthier alternatives to soda that we can
drink every day.
Main point #1: Ingredients in Average Soda Drink
Firstly, to understand the real issue with soda ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We ve noted the harmful ingredients and now let s take a closer look at the harm they can do to our
body. Firstly, the ingredients in both regular and diet sodas can cause many harmful effects to your
body. An average small bottle or can of soda contains over 200 calories, none of which contains any
real nutrients for your health. If you consume just one can of soda per day, you will gain 12 pounds in
only one year.
Following this fact, experts have noted that there is a link between soda consumption and obesity in
United States. For an example, according to a 2012 article in Prevalence of obesity and trends in body
mass index among US children and adolescents , it is found that two out of three adults and one out of
three children in America are overweight or obese. Rising consumption of soda has been a major
contributor to the obesity epidemic. Besides, according to an article by American Heart Association
(2017), sugar is a pure carbohydrate, and carbohydrates give the body energy, but downing a can of
soda of 250 calories isn t helpful. Unless you start doing jumping jacks the second you finish the soda,
and keep them up for an hour or so, those carbohydrates will turn to fat. It is also proven that people in
United States have been paying a lot for their poor dietary habits. According to the CDC (2004),
nationwide obesity related disease expenditures for Medicare and Medicaid was a whopping $78.5

The Natural History Museum Of Los Angeles Essay
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles offers a surface level depiction of Mesoamerican
civilization and culture. It excludes essential information and instead gives a shallow representation
that offers implications of a barbaric civilization.
To start off, a Natural History Museum is usually a place where the public can visit to obtain
knowledge on the history of the earth and its inhabitants. Much about people s culture and customs is
found in a Natural History museum, especially people that have made a difference or played a role in
history that we learn today. Therefore, the Indigenous peoples are represented in these precise
museums. The indigenous people have various amount of customs that are even used today, however,
the fact that many of their descriptions are led by the word histor or ancient almost makes the guests at
museums believe that these indigenous people are no longer alive, and that is incorrect. The key
objective for a Natural History museum is to simply help connect the understanding of human beings,
connections based on culture, communities, to the earth and to each other. Precisely, The Natural
History Museum of Los Angeles does not fully represent in depth the qualities that made the
indigenous people so innovative, intelligent, and powerful; Therefore, the importance of the
indigenous people is almost overshadowed by everything else that is presented at the museum.
Overall, the indigenous people are represented here because of their

When community members step in, police are only notified of crimes through these members that are

direct evidence to convict them of an alleged crime if they do not have enough evidence they cannot

The Study Of Nonlinear Electron-Acoustic ( EA ) Wave...
The study of nonlinear electron acoustic (EA) wave propagation is one of the predominant research
areas in space plasma environments. The concept of EA waves was developed by Fried and Gould (
removed HTML ) ( removed HTML ) 1 ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML ) for the first time in an
unmagnetized plasma, and they observed that electron plasma oscillations can appear in a continuous
formulation without correlation in the presence of collective effects, making the physics non trivial.
The authors ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML ) 1 ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML ) noticed
that beyond the well known Langmuir and ion acoustic (IA) waves, there was a heavily damped
acoustic like wave solution, which was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

studied the nonlinear propagation of EA waves in an unmagnetized plasma with hot Maxwellian
electrons and fluid cold and beam electrons and ions and compared their results with the spiky
structures of the broadband electrostatic noise due to nonlinear EA waves observed in the aurora1
region of the Earth s magnetosphere. Schriver and Ashour Abdalla ( removed HTML ) ( removed

electron ion instability can be combined to form a broadbanded wave spectrum that rapidly destroys
the electron beam. Pottelett ( removed HTML ) et al. ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML ) (

the dayside auroral zone by the Viking satellite enables their statistical study. The characteristics of the

Shinto And Religion
Shinto practices include shrine visits; blessings done by priests at the shrines and in the community;
participation in festivals and seasonal holidays, especially New Years; water purifications; and
offerings and prayer at home shrines. Perhaps because of a lack of organizational structure, Shinto has
generated an amazing variety of sects that often borrow from Confucianism, Buddhism, and even
Christianity . (Molloy 2008 p. 274 275) Is it wrong to celebrate one s country as a religion? No is not
wrong for some body or groups people to celebrate the country birthday or some event that in the past,
but what is wrong at least in my opinion is to celebrated your country as a religion, and worship the
moon or other nature things as a gods,

Driver Detection Lab Report
section{EXPERIMENTS AND RESULTS}: paragraph{} In this paper, the experiments are divided
into three parts. The first part considers the evaluation of the detection algorithms described in the
previous section where the accuracy of the algorithms is assessed with accelerometer data in road
anomalies and driving behaviors recognition. In the second part of the experiment, the accuracy DTW
in driving behavior classification is evaluated with the data recorded from accelerometer,
magnetometer, and gyroscope. Finally, in the last part we proposed two abnormal driving detection
systems using k NN and DTW algorithms. begin{enumerate} item Evaluation of Detection
Algorithms: paragraph{} In this experiment, we evaluated k NN and DTW algorithms accuracy with
accelerometer readings $a_x, a_y and a_z$ readings to recognize the type of driving event. Driving
events divided into three classes are: bump, normal driving behavior, and abnormal driving behavior.

Student Motivation Of Student Observation
For my off campus lesson observation I was fortunate enough to go visit one of my favorite teachers
from high school, Kirsten Galanter. She has been teaching at Evergreen High School for 7 years and
teachers family and consumer sciences classes. During high school I took one of her classes every
year and she was one of the reasons I decided to pursue a career in education. Through the two classes
I observed on Thursday November 30th, I was able to to see how she used different strategies for each
of her classes, and then how this effected the students engagement and classroom environment. The
very first class I was able to observe was Child Psychology Kids, which is a class I took during my
time in high school. In this class students who are upperclassmen learn about the growth and
development of kindergarten and first grade aged children and get to work one on one with
kindergarteners/first graders two times a week. During the time I observed I was actually able to
watch the high school students interact with their elementary school buddies . What surprised me the
most about the high schoolers is how self motivated they all were. Mrs. Galanter didn t have to remind
them of the class procedures or when to it was time to head over to the elementary school, all of the
high school students did everything on their own, and every transition was smooth. Even when the
high schoolers were working with their buddies they knew exactly what to do and what was expected
of them, and the time spent in the elementary school also went smoothly. These smooth transitions and
the students understanding of their expectations can only be contributed to Mrs. Galanter and her
ability to enforce these schedules and expectations with her students. When I was a student of hers, I
was fully aware of what she expected of me constantly and she held all of her students to such high
expectations. Every day the class schedule was consistent so every student knew what to expect and
how the class functioned. Her thought out planning of each days schedule, and high expectations for
her students have obviously led to a well run class of self managers. The next class I observed was
Health, and it was the complete opposite of

Pavel furious in Europe Will made his way around. Eventually getting himself killed by three different
people while walking out of the bar. Throughout the book there are 3 main searches going on. The first
search being Van looking for a place to bring Val, second Prince Pavel trying to find Will, and third
Val trying to find Wills killers. Van gets stuck with a difficult choice after Val s mom Myra tells Van to
get rid of Val or to take him and leave for good. His first idea was to abandon Val in a field far away
from town. With it being winter in Montana the temperature dropped to 40 below making Van stuck

Challenges of Genre for EFL Teachers
Challenges of Genre for EFL teachers
In teaching English as Foreign Language (EFL), teachers face a number of challenges when the
pedagogy is changed to EFL method. One of the questions is how can teachers know what genre the
students need to learn? This is because based on researches, genre are dependent on the discourse
community. Therefore, how to explain which genre to teach by school teacher to the students? So, this
has become a problem/challenge for EFL teachers to teach genre as researchers from New Rhetoric
Studies argue that genre cannot be taught. They point out that genres are so changeable and so context
dependent that it makes no sense to teach them outside of that particular context. (Millar, 2011)
Moreover, a basic set of general school genre has been introduced to counter that teaching genre is as
important as other subject matter to the students where they can apply it in many ways. According to
(Hyland, 2003) narration, recounting, argumentation, report and description are included in these
school of genre. In this approach the claim is that if students can control and produce a few
decontextualized genres such as exposition , discussion , and historical recount , they can produce
texts in the genres of a culture (Johns, 2008) Despite that, this type of approach may not teach students
enough about how to employ and adapt these patterns to different contexts. More longitudinal studies
will be needed to see if learning this core set of text patterns

Zachary Wendt s Traveling Trade

Traveling Trade
Transportation
Early in the medieval times traders had transported all of their goods and trading assets by animal
driven carts rather than machine powered carts and wagons. With the invention of stirrups and saddles,
it had majorly improved horseback riding for longer trips, but with many people being poor at this
time, the equipment for horseback was very expensive, so it was pretty rare to see people traveling
long distances on horseback. On the other hand, people with more and heavier goods usually had oxen
pull the cart forward but at the expense of going much slower. With wagons and carts, they were not
meant for people to sit in them, but the owners of the wagons/carts knew much better than to ... Show

The league contained a non governing system, non political system, no official army or navy, but had
no bank system or judicial system. Meetings were usually held in Ludeck where usually small groups
of larger towns that usually made the policies of the league. To enter the league, you must have been a
German town, be independent, and had an on time payer of all yearly dues. However, some cities were
exceptions like Stockholm and Dinant (in Flanders) had full rights. The league possessed local depots
such as Oslo and Tonsberg in Norway, Alborg in Denmark, cities in England that include York,
Boston, Lynn, and Norwich. (brittanica.com/topic/Hanseatic League)
Decline
The decline of the Hanseatic League involved the breaking of the German monopoly, most definitely
in the Baltic Sea, and the level of intrest between towns. Loss of political development surrounding
the Baltic had lowered the intrest of Hanseatic consumers after Valdemar IV was defeated. Most
Hanseatic countries had broken off like Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Poland, and Lithuania.
With the English and Dutch traders gaining experience from the Germans, they did not need them
anymore. In 1669, the Hanseatic League had ended.

  • 2. History of Database Technology History of Database Technology Past and Present The term database was popularized with the growth of the computer industry and is typically thought of as software used to store, index, manipulate, and retrieve information (Vaughn). Database software has been in use since the Census Bureau used a punch card system to meet the requirements for the collection, sorting, and reporting of data for the 1890 census (National Research Council). These earliest databases were flat file databases. The flat file style of database works well for small amounts of data that need to be organized to be read and edited by hand. Flat file databases are made up of tables that store a set number of characters in each field. The individual tables are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the most part these two are relatively similar. IDEA is an excellent data manipulating utility that permits auditors to translate data files to or from word processors, relational databases, spreadsheets, and integrated accounting systems using a number of data formats. The purpose of IDEA is to allow external auditors to examine and sample extracted data files. IDEA software incorporates a database that produces statistics and summaries, by extracting data that meets a specified criterion being queried. The user can then browse through data displaying it graphically, or by printing custom designed reports. The ACL software uses a combination of data access, analysis and integrated reporting capabilities, to reach data from virtually any source, across any system, through a consistent user interface. ACL technology enables audit, financial, and control professionals to gain immediate insight into transactional data underlying their business processes and financial reporting. Another frequently used CAATT is the Generalized Audit Software (GAS), which allows data to be extracted and analyzed. The main reasons for the widespread use of GAS is that it requires very little specialized information systems knowledge, and its adaptability to a variety of environments and users. Although auditors often have some degree of difficulty in preparing the data for its first use, the end results is that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With its successful rollout in the Spanish market, it began to expand its stores around the world, and became one of the most profitable brands in the appalling market. Zara was famous for its ability to quickly respond to the market demands, which provides a useful lesson in terms of competitive advantage with its competitors. But confronting to the fast paced and constantly changing market, if a company wants to consistently increase market share in order to survive in the competitive market, it is irrefutable that it needs to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, since the achievement of sustainable competitive advantage can be expected to lead to higher performance. The resource based view (RBV), which emphasizes the internal capabilities of a firm to attain sustainable competitive advantage in its market and industry, could be an excellent tool to explain why a company can be superior to others (Sheehan and Foss, 2007). Hence, the main purpose of this essay is to evaluate whether and how Zara generates its sustainable competitive advantage, drawing on the resource based view literature. Resource based view of Zara The resource based view emphasizes the internal accumulation of firms resources and capabilities that contribute to firms development (Peteraf, 1993). The themes of Raymond s Run and All American Slurp affected the main characters of both stories who are Squeaky and the lin daughter. Evidence how they were both affected by both themes is Squeaky was affected by the theme of Raymond s Run because when she got rabid when other people made fun of Raymond people would look at her in a different way. When you hear about people surfing you think of the stereotypical muscles used in your core. Therefore, 3 D animation technology still has a lot of room for improvement and development which is one of the opportunities. More information on SWOT analysis is stated in the appendix from Figure 1. Disney would only want to acquire Pixar given the benefits outweigh the costs and not vice versa. Knowing the different costs and benefits is crucial in making this decision. First, Disney would be able to get access to Pixar s proprietary 3 D computer animation software technology at lower cost than Disney to develop the similar technology themselves. Pixar s software programs are revolutionary compared to the traditional 2 D animation. These programs gave Pixar the capability to reduce the time of making animation. Caesar s ambition, which was caused by his pride, convinces Brutus that, despite his love for Caesar, Caesar would only hurt Rome, and therefore must die. Similar to how soothsayers had a very significant role in Roman society, dreams also played a large part in the daily lives of Roman citizens. The article, Inventing Historical Truth on the Silver Screen, by Robert Rosenstone, explains having a current perspective on history and how we interpret it. Written historical documents can only be backed up by truth so far. These films Amistad, 1776, and The Black Robe, can help form ideas of what might have happened, but that is what they are used for, to help mold and shape historical events to the present day. It is clear and obvious that slavery is wrong and never should have happened, but certain people decided differently. Of course we do not obtain video footage of such historical event and go off of verbal and written documentation, but the movie Amistad, goes into detail about how the slaves were treated. It was inhumane and they were treated worse than animals. They were captured, traded in from their own people, beaten, killed, raped, separated from families, forced to work and do things no one should ever have to go through. But for public purposes, it did not show everything they went through. The movie definitely softens certain clips for the reason of who might watch the film and for what they would be allowed to film and produce. This resulted in the formation boards of directors charged with overseeing and charting the direction of these entities. This is now referred to as shareholder capitalism (Grant, 2012), where a firm is to act in the best interests of its shareholders. This separation of the owners and managers of the business is the central reason for the existence of what is now referred to as corporate governance. As discussed by Smith (Smith, 1776), Berle (Berle, 1932) and Tricker (Tricker, 2012), this created several differing schools of thought. Concepts now referred to as agency, stewardship, resource dependence and enlightened stakeholder theories combined with ideas such as managerial and class hegemony and evolving social stakeholder philosophies will form the basis of our review into the abilities of boards to act in a self regulating manner. This paper will explore each of these in an attempt to discern if a pattern either has or is likely to emerge that enables boards to form a self regulating social system. Agency theory as a concept was first posed by the economist Adam Smith (Smith, 1776). • 20. Christianity s Domination Of The Roman Empire Some may credit Christianity s domination of the Roman Empire to Constantine s Edict of Milan. This edict was a continuation of the Edict of Galerius, which essentially stated that despite the disapproval of the Roman government, Christians were allowed to continue worshipping, as long as they prayed for the well being of the state and allowed the government some control of the magistrates (Knipfing 697). The Edict of Milan furthered this by granting both to Christians and to all men freedom of choice in following such form of worship as they wish ( The Edict of Milan 1). However, due to evangelistic practices already in place, the Edict of Galerius and the Edict of Milan was superfluous to the rise and spread of Christianity. The Edicts of Galerius and Milan were decreed to stop persecution of the Christians that had lasted since the movement began. Persecution of Christians had begun as early as the Emperor Nero s rule. Persecution went on automatically, if sporadically...until the third century (G. E. M. de Ste. Croix, Early Christians 15). Christians were persecuted simply for being Christians. At the beginning of their movement, many pagan Romans believed all Christians were incest and cannibals because of the secrecy of their rituals. Once the apologetic works of Augustine and others were written to defend the Christian practices that were the source of these ideas, the only claim against someone being a Christian was their questionable loyalty to the state. ... Their argument follows the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. There are different levels of affection and respect that people have for their pets, but the term family members is used quite often. • 37. The Natural History Museum Of Los Angeles Essay The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles offers a surface level depiction of Mesoamerican civilization and culture. It excludes essential information and instead gives a shallow representation that offers implications of a barbaric civilization. To start off, a Natural History Museum is usually a place where the public can visit to obtain knowledge on the history of the earth and its inhabitants. Much about people s culture and customs is found in a Natural History museum, especially people that have made a difference or played a role in history that we learn today. Therefore, the Indigenous peoples are represented in these precise museums. The indigenous people have various amount of customs that are even used today, however, the fact that many of their descriptions are led by the word histor or ancient almost makes the guests at museums believe that these indigenous people are no longer alive, and that is incorrect. The key objective for a Natural History museum is to simply help connect the understanding of human beings, connections based on culture, communities, to the earth and to each other. Precisely, The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles does not fully represent in depth the qualities that made the indigenous people so innovative, intelligent, and powerful; Therefore, the importance of the indigenous people is almost overshadowed by everything else that is presented at the museum. Overall, the indigenous people are represented here because of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Russians responded primarily through memes that tangentially referred to the ban without targeting any particular figure (Figure 3). Most prominent was a screen capture from Back to the Future II where Marty tells Doc Brown they must return to the past. Brown replies that this is impossible because The past has been blocked by @roscomnadzor. Engaging in a typical function of memes, the image serves as a commonplace whereby the facial affect (as well as an intertextual reference to the film character) serves to impose Brown s general incredulity onto this turn of events. @RUNetMEmes also reposted a Reddit thread which listed a series of Russian theme puns, accompanied by the line this post is illegal in Russia. Borrowing from the larger ethos of the memes, these iterations argue an effort to regulate discourse on the internet is fruitless as the restrictions will anger users, who would view Putin as a scumbag and promote further circulation evidenced by Pepe promising a new black market. Even the previously circulating Putin based meme Give that Man a Cookie joined the commentary, proclaiming, Give that meme maker life imprisonment. The fear some people have of retaliation from their aggressors is high that is why vigorous trainings in all aspects of mental health to discretion takes place for the safety of the victims and staff. Crime is on the rise in Chicago, Illinois, people in the city of Chicago fear to go to work as a result of all the random gunfire erupting every day. Just today (November 2, 2015) a nine year old boy was shot in the head in a back. The child was in an alley down the street from his grandmother s home. For the last five years, crime rates have shot through the roof in every area of the city. Chicago law enforcement agencies are at a halt because they do not know where all of this crime is coming from and why it is happening. Law enforcement cannot be everywhere or catch a crime in progress. When community members step in, police are only notified of crimes through these members that are there when the crime is happening. Law enforcement can pursue a criminal, but they have to have direct evidence to convict them of an alleged crime if they do not have enough evidence they cannot get a conviction, and the alleged criminal will be out of law enforcement custody. A community member should always hold the image in their head of you see something say something this is the only crimes that are solved because law enforcement is almost never right there when a crime ensues. Now Chicago has implemented a new plan to address the youth about crime. Chicago ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During his reign, Louis transformed the monarchy, marked a new golden age of arts and literature, and made his country the most powerful on the continent until the War of the Spanish. In 1648, a civil war known as The Fronde , began and the royal family had to leave Paris. • 46. Student Motivation Of Student Observation For my off campus lesson observation I was fortunate enough to go visit one of my favorite teachers from high school, Kirsten Galanter. She has been teaching at Evergreen High School for 7 years and teachers family and consumer sciences classes. During high school I took one of her classes every year and she was one of the reasons I decided to pursue a career in education. Through the two classes I observed on Thursday November 30th, I was able to to see how she used different strategies for each of her classes, and then how this effected the students engagement and classroom environment. The very first class I was able to observe was Child Psychology Kids, which is a class I took during my time in high school. In this class students who are upperclassmen learn about the growth and development of kindergarten and first grade aged children and get to work one on one with kindergarteners/first graders two times a week. During the time I observed I was actually able to watch the high school students interact with their elementary school buddies . What surprised me the most about the high schoolers is how self motivated they all were. Mrs. Galanter didn t have to remind them of the class procedures or when to it was time to head over to the elementary school, all of the high school students did everything on their own, and every transition was smooth. Even when the high schoolers were working with their buddies they knew exactly what to do and what was expected of them, and the time spent in the elementary school also went smoothly. These smooth transitions and the students understanding of their expectations can only be contributed to Mrs. Galanter and her ability to enforce these schedules and expectations with her students. When I was a student of hers, I was fully aware of what she expected of me constantly and she held all of her students to such high expectations. Every day the class schedule was consistent so every student knew what to expect and how the class functioned. Her thought out planning of each days schedule, and high expectations for her students have obviously led to a well run class of self managers. The next class I observed was Health, and it was the complete opposite of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Challenges of Genre for EFL Teachers Challenges of Genre for EFL teachers In teaching English as Foreign Language (EFL), teachers face a number of challenges when the pedagogy is changed to EFL method. One of the questions is how can teachers know what genre the students need to learn? This is because based on researches, genre are dependent on the discourse community. Therefore, how to explain which genre to teach by school teacher to the students? So, this has become a problem/challenge for EFL teachers to teach genre as researchers from New Rhetoric Studies argue that genre cannot be taught. They point out that genres are so changeable and so context dependent that it makes no sense to teach them outside of that particular context. (Millar, 2011) Moreover, a basic set of general school genre has been introduced to counter that teaching genre is as important as other subject matter to the students where they can apply it in many ways. According to (Hyland, 2003) narration, recounting, argumentation, report and description are included in these school of genre. In this approach the claim is that if students can control and produce a few decontextualized genres such as exposition , discussion , and historical recount , they can produce texts in the genres of a culture (Johns, 2008) Despite that, this type of approach may not teach students enough about how to employ and adapt these patterns to different contexts. More longitudinal studies will be needed to see if learning this core set of text patterns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
