Importance Of Animal Use For Entertainment
The third reason that humans use animals is for entertainment. Animal circuses, aquariums, zoos,
bullfighting, and dog fighting are examples of using animals for enjoyment. There has always been
a conflict whether it is ethical to keep animals in captivity and away from their natural habitat just
for fun. Humans started using animals for amusement since the ancient years. Even though the
previous generations methods were more deadly and cruel, the same concept of animal use for
entertainment is still applied. Kate Good, a famous author and animal activist, states in her article
Five Cruel Methods Used to Train Animals That Will Make You Skip the Next Animal Show in No
Time: When you stop looking at these attractions as an opportunity for you to see the animalsyou
love, and see them for the profit driven businesses they truly are, the discrepancies between good
intentions and cruel action becomes apparent. People visit the entertainment centers because they
love animals without knowing why the animals act the way they do. The crowd applauses when an
elephantrides a tricycle, when a cat jumps through multiple burning rings, when bears play soccer,
or when dolphins draw Christmas trees. Do these animals understand what they are doing? Are
they doing what they are doing because they enjoy it? No, evidence has revealed that animals go
through a cruel process, also known as PHAJAAN, since their infancies to be trained for these
humane activities for the public.

The National Average Cost Of A Wedding Cake
The national average cost of a wedding cake is about four hundred sixty six dollars in the United
States. Wedding cakes began as once a simple tradition of weddings. Now they are one of the
biggest elements of someone s big day. Wedding cakes have been influenced by society and several
other aspects that have immensely improved its appearance and quality. Over several time periods,
culture and new technique have allowed the weddingcaketo evolve to what it is today. Wedding
cakes have grown and developed from two main ethnical traditions. One of the traditions can be
traced back to the Ancient Roman Empire. Around 1900 years ago, the Romans began bakingwheat
and salt into small cakes to be eaten (Clee Cadman, Mary). One of the rituals

Camping At Devils Lake
The vibrant greens, the hastening winds through the trees, the mosquitoes biting where mosquito
spray is lacking, and the raccoons stealing the last box of lucky charms, these are some of the
joys experienced in the great outdoors. The outdoors is one of my favorite get away locations.
From before my adolescence to this day, I am an outdoorsman: From campingat Devils Lake, to
canoeing the Canadian Boundary Waters, and even sailing the Florida Keys. Camping is
enjoyable for me because it is a place of freedom, a place of relaxation, and a place where I can
create memories with my family and friends. The secluded outdoors, away from cities, is a place
broken away from the chains of society. Though campgrounds still have rules, the rules
instituted our quite lax in both definition and enforcement. People can often do a lot more in a
campground or in nature reserves than in cities or even towns. A minor example of this would
be the use of bicycles, in a city bicycles need to ride in the bike lane on the right side of the road,
however in a campground you can ride the bike on the road or take it off road onto the trails and
explore. Though most campgrounds have rules on where you can ride your bike, the rules are not
very strict nor are they very enforced. Since there is only a minute amount of people you encounter
while camping it also allows you the freedom of doing whatever you want without the judgmental
eyes of society laying upon you. I enjoy the lack of judgment

The Trombone Research Paper
Music is one of the best stress relievers. Music soothes the soul for people. There are many
instruments that take place to make beautiful music. One of those instruments is a trombone. The
interesting thing about the trombone is that many people played that instrument. Many others prefer
to play a smaller instrument or they over complicate the trombone. Some people describe the
trombone as it is a big instrument. The people that actually play it know the name and how it
works. Of course it is called trombone and the big moving thing is called a slide. Once you learn
about the basics of it you will understand more and more.
The trombone was created in the Seventeenth century(Trombone: Its History and Music, Page 2).
There is no specified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First position is the very top of the slide without moving it. That is the basic position and the first
to learn. Then there is a 2nd position which to find it you just have to pull out about an inch. 3rd
position is when the handle part of the slide is aligned with the bell. 4th is like an 2 inches after
that, so forth so on.
There is also a certain way to hold it and on what shoulder to put it on. The bell will be on your
left shoulder and it would look like a V angle. In order to hold it your left hand position will be
with you thumb behind a tube and three fingers on the first slide brace then one across the slide
crossing over the mouthpiece. That s how you would hold a trombone if you re a beginner.
The trombone is considered a brass instrument in the wind ensemble. The Trombone is played in
jazz, concert, solo, and symphony playing(The Art of Trombone Playing, Page 2). The trombone
plays on the bass clef. It is completely different notes than most woodwind instrument. Trombone
has a tone a level lower than instruments that are played on treble clef. The tenor trombone is
played on bass clef and others are also. The trombones have different tones, for example the bass
trombone has a lower pitch than the tenor trombone. Together these instruments sound in harmony

Plato s The Meno, A Greek Philosopher And The Wisest Of...
Alexis Evans
Midterm Paper
11/4/14
Topic 1 In Plato s The Meno, Socrates, who was a Greek philosopher and considered one of the
wisest of all people expresses his views on the relationship between knowledge and virtue. In
todays era, virtue is defined as having good morals as a human being. Knowledge is defined as
factual information and skills that are acquired by a person through experience or education.
Together Socrates makes a statement and or beliefs, that virtue is knowledge because if you know
what is right, you will in fact do what is right. While in a conversation with Socrates, Meno then
asks if virtue can ever be taught. Socrates answers his question in that they both have to discuss at
that point if virtue can be taught because he is uncertain. They must first define clearly what virtue
is to even answer Meno s question of if virtue can even be taught or not. At the end of the debate,
the final conclusion Socrates makes is that virtue is not something natural or can never be taught.
Socrates then believes that it is just simply a gift from god that we all receive it without ever
realizing. Through the process, Meno and Socrates go at it, Meno thinking he is getting close to the
correct answer just to have Socrates shot it down. After a few times of Meno guessing, he doesn t
have anything else to say and gives up. Socrates main argument responds with that learning is not
discovering anything new but rather remembering something the soul knew before your

The Reason I Decided On What My Major Will Be
The reason I decided on what my major will be When I started college, my mind decided that I
wanted to study pre veterinary. I thought that it was my calling and was what I was meant to do
in life. I realized through many different activities and events in college, that I had a calling for
something else. I joined a campus ministry called The Navigators and started to disciple under
one of the leaders named Josh Lashbrook. We started to meet one day a week, so he could teach
me and start to mold me into a leader. He taught me different religious tools and techniques on
how to talk to people and sharing the word of God. When I first started to have meeting with him,
I did not have a lot of knowledge on speaking with others and trying to convey a good message. I
went in the commons and started to go around with him and sit with random strangers. Some of
them were believers in our religion, believers in a different religion, or not believers at all. It was
cool to see the differences between everyone and see how many actually have things in common.
Josh taught me that when I talked to people, do not use only emotions because sometimes people
can feel what you feel and can take it as a negative or positive meaning to what you are trying to
say. He also taught me that you have to have an attitude that ensembles a good and positive way
of life. I learned that doing it by yourself is hard when you have little skill or knowledge on what
needs to be done. By joining the

God s Speech On God Essay
God gave us the bible so that we can understand rational truths with our mind and know what to
believe. He teaches us how to Worship by painting a picture of the world through his eyes. He
teaches us about ourselves, eternity, why we are here on Earth, and how to know right from wrong
so we can Worship the greatness that is him. Godhas given us many commands like in Matthew
22: 37 39 to follow but we should take the teaching and understand the relationship that is
presented between us and the Worship of him. God wants us to experience him and his world.
By understanding God s invitation to know him better we learn not only more about him, but
more about ourselves. We learn what sins to avoid, what parts of our lives need to be changed,
how we can love others through him, and what are his plans and purpose for our lives thorough
him are. To Worship becomes lessons on how to live a fulfilled life that we could never
accomplish without him like in Psalm 19: 7 8; and Corinthians 5:17.
Worship must be sincere and selfless. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD
made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary .
Psalms 96:5 6. This illustrates how we must not worship God because of the wealth He
possesses. We must worship him because He is the Lord almighty. Worship is not sincere if it is
done to only benefit your personal wellbeing. It is having a selfless desire deep within ones soul to
give up everything to God,

Why Plastic Bags Should Be Banned
Banning Plastic Bags
The plastic bag is an innovative invention all around the world. It makes the world more
convenient and because of this convenience, the plastic bag is multi purposeful and is used
widespread such as in stores, houses, restaurants, etc. However, the problem is that a lot of
people do not know that plastic bags have many harmful effects. First of all, plastic bags cause
environmental damages, and produces cataclysmic events in wildlife. For example, plastic bags
become litter after they are found in waterways, parks, beaches, and streets. Plastic bags also effect
air when burned, infusing the air with toxins. Something that many may not think about when they
think of plastic bags is the harmful effects it brings to the animals. The death of countless animals
such as dolphins, turtles, penguins, etc. is due to the production of plastic bags. The ocean is
home to thousands of species and ocean wonders but there is so often trash thrown into the sea
that disrupts the life beneath the water. Those animals ingest plastic bags and ultimately die, while
another animal comes back and eats that dead animal which results in a chain reaction that is
going to come back around and bite humans back. The public should realize that plastic bags have
adverse effects, and those effects will be worse than the convenience of using a plastic bag.
Plastic bags produce environmental pollution. People need to reduce the use of plastic bags in order
to save the environment. This

Reformer Influence On John Calvinism
Calvinism is a movement within orthodox Protestantism associated with the Reformer John Calvin
that emphasizes the rule of God over all things. The concept of Calvinism began not with John
Calvin (as it is commonly mistaken) but rather with a Reformer in Switzerland named Ulrich
/Huldrych Zwingli. Zurich was well known for urging the reformation of the Catholic Church,
criticising the use of images in worship and generally attempting to spread the Reformation. Some
parts of the country conformed to the change but others resisted, staunchly remaining Catholic. This
resulted in a theocratic division within the nation. During this time of tense stand off, Zwingli met
Martin Luther, known as the father of the Lutheran denomination. They agreed on

The Role Of Women In The Bride Price By Buchi Emecheta
The Bride Price by Buchi Emecheta follows the story of Aku nna, a young girl from the Ibo
people of Nigeria, who reaches the marrying age after her father s death. While anticipated to
bring in a large sum of money from marriage, she refuses to date any of the suitors presented to
her, instead choosing her lover, a descendant of slaves, and bringing dishonor upon her family. A
suitor then kidnaps her, but she manages to escape him and elope with her lover; she eventually
dies in childbirth with their conceived daughter. In the novel, Nigerian culture, specifically of the
Ibo people, establishes a patriarchal society. Because of this, women are treated as inferior, as
evident by expectations and marriage/dating customs that infringe upon their freedom and dignity.
The role of women in Ibo society is demonstrated in The Bride Price by the expectations to be
obedient under the ownership of older males, to fulfil motherhood as early and fruitfully as
possible, to abide by menstrual hygiene rules, to be pure through chastity, and to follow such
standards or else bring shame upon their family. In the patriarchal society of the Ibo, a womanmust
submit to an older man s demands specifically of a husband or family member; she is rarely in
full control of herself. Emecheta writes that a girl belonged to you today as your daughter, and
tomorrow, before your very eyes, would go to another man in marriage to suggest the presence of
a dominant male figure in all walks of life (17).

Essay On Weapons In The Civil War
Weapons in the civil war played a huge role in the war. What weapons were better, how fast
could the weapon could be loaded these were all things people had to look at with weapons in
the civil war. There were weapons that you could personally buy or you could just get the
standard weapon they would give you when you to go to war which was a standard musket.so
whos weapons were better? The Minie ball was a huge improvement it was designed to expand
while traveling along the rifle barrel, it increased muzzle velocity as well as causing spin to the
bullet, making its accuracy and range far better. It was made of soft lead, it was a little smaller than
the gunbore, making it easy to load in combat. Many people feel that the reason there were so many
casualties in the war was due to the minie ball. The minie ball was used by both side confederate
and the north, but the north had more ammunition.
Cannons were also a big factor in the war also there were quite a few types of cannons, including
the 6 pounder gun, M1857 12 pounder, 12 pounder Howitzer, 24 pounder Howitzer, 10 pounder
Parrott rifle, 3 inch Ordnance Rifle, and the 20 pounder Parrott rifle. Smoothbore cannon which
were cannons without rifling in the barrel were still used, falling into two categories, guns and
howitzers, for firing at higher trajectories and shorter ranges. There were a lot of swords and sabers
used including, model 1832 foot artillery sword, model 1832 dragoon saber, model 1840 ... Show

US Healthcare Reform and the Impact on Primary Care Physicians

A cost analysis study was performed by the RAND Corporation and the results published on June

they reviewed and analyzed were; if employers with fewer employees were required to provide

Congressional Era Of Reconstruction During Post Civil War...
Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.
Henry Ford. This was the Southern optimist s view of what the results of post Civil War
Reconstruction could be. Unfortunately, once the Congressional era of Reconstruction began, this
view was squandered under federal punishment of the South. This policy led to strained relations
between Congress and the ex Confederate states. The difference of opinion was over how harshly
the South should be punished for leaving the Union. The South wanted to be readmitted with as
little friction as possible, so they sided with the Democrats, like Robert E. Lee, and Moderate
Republicans. Congress on the other hand, being mostly controlled by Radical Republicans, believed

One explicit difference of policy was over the use of troops to put the South into military
districts that were under martial law and putting Northern Generals over Southern troops. As
historian S. Chase said in the Democratic National Committee of 1873 There should have been
as little military government as possible. This policy was even more harshly debated because
these troops were there to enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until
they were forced to vote for it if they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do
because they lost the Civil War. This force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of
place in a country that claimed to be the land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a
Democracy. This ideological difference between Southerners and Congress has been a major point
of contention in discussions about Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice.
Another point of policy disagreement can be seen in how representation in the South would be
handled. In accordance with Congressional Reconstruction, certain classes of ex Confederates,
such as the class that Robert E. Lee was in, were excluded from being granted their suffrage . This
was an outrage to Southerners for two reasons. The first is that the certain classes being exempted
from regaining their suffrage were the highest part of the upper class and the people of high rank
from the ex Confederate

Jane Austen s The King Of The Time
(Hook sentence.) The Regency is a specific part of the much larger Georgian era, which spreads
throughout the rules of the King George s. Regency is considered to be from 1811 to 1820 as
the king of the time, George III, was deemed unfit to rule because of a mental illness, causing his
son to be instated as his proxy, Prince Regent. Under the rule of the Prince Regent, life was
transformed into a decade of social standings, where income and the amount of land you inherited
determined your worth to many people. Women of this time were expected to be beautiful, well

He believes she has more of quickness than her sisters, and they often converse in amusement
about the people around them (Austen 3). Since they aren t of a high society, they are
constantly entertained with the desperate attempts of women who strive to marry a man of the
greatest advantage. This causes Elizabeth to think highly of her ability to discern the people
around her. Since she has never been proved wrong, an innate stubbornness from it was created.
Pride over this has caused her to be quick to judge as she sees fit. This trait is especially shown in
her first interaction with Mr. Darcy, a wealthy, seemingly proud, and handsome gentleman. The
people of Hertfordshire county consider him to be the most disagreeable man in the world
(Austen 8). She comes to agree with the gossip when she overhears him commenting that she is
not handsome enough to tempt [him], (Austen 9). As they spend more time together he starts to
develop feelings for her, but does not act on it because of her lower class. Here we can see how
his pride and societal upbringing gives him a preconception against others. Her prejudice against
him causes her to see everything he says or does in a negative light. Throughout the novel, this use
of pride and prejudice leads to many misunderstandings about the true character of the people in it.
The introducement of Mr. Wickham, a handsome man from Darcy s past, proves to progress the
story as an influence Elizabeth s prejudice.

Rap Music Rap music has never been seen as a positive artistry by the media, but maybe the
media is just doing what it always does and portrays everything with a poor opinion and rap
music really doesn t influence someone s behavior as much as the media would like you to think.
Socially everyone thinks that kids that listen to rap music are more prone to violence and abuse
towards women and that is how it has been looked at in our culture, when really it s not the actually
listening of the music than it is the rap videos themselves that portray the misogynistic views and
create misogynistic attitudes within the audience that lead to a more accepting view of violence
against women. Rap is stereotyped into a category that the only people that... Show more content on

Since culture is our shared reality, created and sustained through common experience, American
experience is now largely that which is shaped and maintained by the mass media... Violent
music lyrics have been shown to increase aggressive thoughts and feelings.... This creation of
culture through popular media was sadly exemplified recently when radio personality Don Imus
referred to a college women s basketball team as nappy headed ho s. Sadder still, many
responded that the racist and sexist language was acceptable because that type of language is
used by minorities in rap music. Unfortunately racist and sexist slurs influence real people, for
example sending the message to girls that this is how our society views them and causing issues
with self esteem and identity. (Karen Dill, 2013) As she said above the radio host described
college basketball girls nappy headed ho s which would get any radio host now fired immediately
without a second thought. Later on in her article she explains how people believe that the media
does not affect them, when in saying that it still does. Karen list s five reasons why people
misperceive that the media affects them: Person s natural tendency to reject the notion that our

Iron Thermal Conductivity And Thermal Expansion
Aluminium is a very reactive metal with high affinity for oxygen but the metal is highly resistant to
most environments and to a great variety of chemical agents. This resistance is due to the inert and
protective character of the aluminium oxide film which forms on the metal surface. Welding of
aluminium still represents a critical operation due to its complexity and the high level of defect that
can be produced in the joint. The main problems are related to the properties of aluminium. They
are:
High thermal conductivity and thermal expansion.
High chemical reactivity with oxygen.
High hydrogen solubility at high temperature.
All this factors can cause presence of defects on the weld bead; like high thermal conductivity and

thought provoking commentary on the big questions of the era. The Vietnam War, the struggle for
equal treatment of African Americans and a general mindset of questioning religion and traditional

The Conservative Party Government Era During 1951-1964
The Conservative Party Government Era during 1951 1964 is a period which has been politically
criticized throughout the years specifically that of Britain Politics. During this time, the
Conservative government was said to have pursued mainly Keynesian economic policies which
was centrally focused on reducing inflation, to maintain growth and promote stability but despite
the Conservatives attempts to revive the Britain economy through industrialism, increase standard
of living and encouragement for consumerism there was the development of a stagnant economy
which eventually produced an increase in unemployment, inflation and interest rates for
consumer products and loans. The Labour government described the period of 1951 64 as
Thirteen Wasted Years as they felt that during this period Britain experienced economic chaos
and turmoil. This was quite the opposite view for that of the Conservatives, particularly
Macmillan who expressed in his speech that the people had ... never had it so good and
encouraged his supporters and opponents to ... Go around the country, go to industrial towns, go

An Ordinary Piece Of Human Choice Making Process
Contrasting one thing and another is an ordinary piece of human choice making process. Be that as
it may, it is not generally simple to comprehend what to analyze and what are the options. To
address this trouble, creator show a novel approach to naturally mine tantamount substances from

her classmates had just witnessed the destruction of the Challenger on live television, the
question of why was all consuming. Growing up in the sixties and witnessing the moon landing
led many to believe NASA was infallible. However, nearly twenty years before Challenger, this
proved untrue, as the dangers of space travel were tragically demonstrated when the crew of the

While root cause analysis of both sentinel events revealed mechanical and debris problems as
causative factors, the underlying problem was much worse NASA s lax safety oversight and
slipshod management. These findings uncovered what dozens, and likely lucky, successful
missions had hid from the public. The country mourned the first tragedy, but demanded change,
which made the loss of Columbia for similar reasons so stunning. Therefore, much of this paper
concentrated on change resistance, as the inability to change organizations is usually attributed to
the difficulties in changing people. Despite the distractions, leadership must push through this
resistance or risk irrelevance in the marketplace. It is for good reasons, organizations use the
lessons of the Challenger and Columbia disasters in all levels of leadership as a warning of the
potential for harm when budget constraints, tight schedules, and deadlines allow flawed reasoning
and egos to undermine safety and the decision making

they lie.

Sometimes, some people will use a lie to hurt or laugh at someone. For example, when I was in
primary school, my classmate enjoyed to laugh with someone in my class. Maybe they want to
make fun of people, but they always make other people feel really bad of themselves. My
teachers always told us to not do those awful things to other, but they didn t care about that. They
still make fun of other students. I think it is an immoral way to use lie because that would hurt not
on the body, but on the spiritual side! If the spiritual gets hurt, it is harder to recover than physique
pain! Also, my classmate could destroy a person childhood. It is the fact and grave! Lie can destroy
everything not only childhood!
Lies can be one kind of believe and have fun. For example, if the father and mother tell their kids
about Christmas has Santa Claus, who gives Christmas presents to their kids. Some kids usually
believe in Santa Claus. In the future, the kids will know it is not true, but they will think it was a
good memory in their childhood! I think it is a good way to use lie. Lying can be fun, but doesn t
use it in a bad way on other person because it will lets the person get hurt like my classmate.
In my daily life, people always lie for purpose. For instance, my friend would like to transfer to
California s college. The college required the TOEFL test, and she has already prepared for the test

The Idea Of Nationalism And The Indigo Planting Mirror
Introduction on The idea of nationalism in the colonial world in Deenabandhu Mitra s Neel Darpan
Neel Darpan; or The Indigo Planting Mirror is a Bengali play written by Dinabandhu
Mitra in 1858 1859. The play was essential to Neelbidraha, or Indigo revolt of
February March 1859 in Bengal, when farmers refused to plant indigo in their fields as a protest
against exploitative farming under the British Raj.
The preface to the play addresses the numerous indigo planters who are offered the neel darpan
(the indigo mirror), so that they may take a look reflected in it . In this play it reflects the social,
political and economic situations affected by the tyranny of the indigo planters which exploits the
Indian peasants.
The play is based on Mitra s experience as a postmaster in rural areas of Orissa and
Bengal. He saw the indigo farmer s oppression very closely. The trials of the peasants were not
only unjust but inhuman and exploitative in nature. Mitra wrote this play to raise a voice against
the indigo planters, jamindars and British officials. Gradually the message spread all around and
the voices of the peasants became the voice of the masses against the imperialism. This play s
central theme is the exploitation of

The Writer In The Family Short Story
In John Updike s A P, and E.L. Doctorow s The Writer in The Family, two boys take part in a
journey of their early lives and find the words they need to be advocate for themselves. Both
Sammy and Jonathan defy an adult authoritative figure; nevertheless, they handle their rebellion
differently. Despite these differences, their experiences lead them both on a similar path of self
discovery. The opposition and determination these characters demonstrate throughout each story
shows the struggles that come with growing up and accepting oneself as an independent person.
The first similarity these boys face is an adult authority figure. In A P, Sammy works a job and
lives a life he does not want because his parents are expecting him to go down the same path as
they did. Sammy does what is considered normal for someone his age. He describes looking
outside and seeing about twenty seven old freeloaders tearing up Central Street because the
sewer broke again. It s not as if we re on the Cape; we re north of Boston and there s people in this
town haven t seen the ocean for twenty years. (Updike.) In The Writer in the Family, Aunt Francis
is asking Jonathan to complete difficult tasks repeatedly for selfish reasons. After his father dies,
Jonathan is made to write letters to his grandma so that she won t be distressed over the news. His
Aunt bullies him into doing this so that she can feel closer to her late brother, not caring about what
pain it may cause Jonathan.

Essay on The Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet a high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate diet was introduced in 1972 by Dr.
Robert C. Atkins. Dr. Atkins believed that diets high in sugar cause the pancreas to produce the
hormone insulin which then causes the body to store calories as fat. He then came up with the
idea that if we consume fewer carbohydrates, then our bodies would produce less insulin and start
using our stored fat for energy and the outcome would be weight loss. (1) The Atkins Diet has
four phases. The first phase lasts for two weeks and is called the Induction Phase . In this phase
the dieter is to severely restrict their carbohydrate intake. This is required to put the body into
ketosis, which is when the body starts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This phase is started when dieters reach their weight loss goal. Dieters are allowed to eat more
carbohydrates, but only enough that will not cause them to gain weight. Bread and starchy
foods will always be severely restricted. This phase is meant to last a lifetime and Dr. Atkins
claims eating like this causes people to become a lot healthier and cut their chances of chronic
diseases. (2) Certain types of foods are permitted while on The Atkins Diet . Most protein foods
that have little to no carbohydrates are allowed such as, meat, seafood, and eggs. Cheese is
allowed but the dieter needs to read the food labels to make sure they do not contain a lot of
carbohydrates. Fats and oils are recommended but the dieter needs to make sure they do not
include any that contain Tran s fats. Virgin or extra virgin olive oil is highly recommended. For
frying purposes, the dieter should use canola, peanut and grape seed oil. Cold water fish is
advised as a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Mayonnaise and butter are allowed and when
using salad dressing the dieter needs to watch out for added sugars. For beverages The Atkins Diet
suggests drinking mostly water but diet sodas are allowed. When needing a sweetener Atkins
recommends Splendaпѓ’. (3) The Atkins Diet has many foods that are prohibited. Since the diet

Racism And Discrimination On Tv. Is The American Media
Racism and Discrimination on TV Is the American media racist? Watch American television and
you might think so. It s been over fifty years since the civil rights movement and unfortunately
American television, at times, keeps racism and discrimination alive. Some of America s longest
running and most favorite television shows are riddled with negative stereotypes, hidden
prejudices, and outright discrimination. Even worse, is the commercials that are on everyday
television that demoralized and debase a whole raceof people. Sadly, these companies and
corporations sometimes don t even realize that there is anything wrong with what they are showing

The fact that they used an African Americankid for this commercial is highly prejudice. Prejudice
is when a negative attitude is felt against an entire group of people (Schaefer 2015). This
advertisement gives that image that all African Americans are drug dealing monsters. This type of
imagery has led to discrimination against African Americans because they are looked at like they
are criminals when that is not the case. Discrimination is when a group of people is denied the
same rights and opportunities because of prejudice (Schaefer 2015). Something that is disturbing
about this advertisement and the group that was behind making it, Partnership for a drug free
America, is that they were funded by over two hundred major American corporations. These types
of images that were played on television and backed by so many large companies show that
institutional discrimination is a problem in this nation. Institutional discrimination is when a group
of people are denied opportunities and their rights are taken away during the normal operations of
society. Lastly, that brings me to my last example of racismin the media and that is the Willie
Horton and the revolving door ads. Willie Horton was a prisoner in the Massachusetts prison
system for murder. In 1986, he was released as part of a weekend furlough program but did not

Advantages Of International Trade For Developing Nations
Advantages of international trade for developing nations
Although the concept of free trade and globalisation may subtly imply a polarity between the
developed and developing worlds, it can be argued that, in order to function successfully, the
pressure to create a competitive and comparative advantage hold all nations on a level playing
field. Sinclair Davidson (2015) cited David Ricardo (1821) in his argument that foreign trade is,
indeed, beneficial to a country, for a number of reasons. By reducing the cost of commodities and
raising living standards through the creation of jobs, international trade allows developing countries
to create a competitive advantage.
Michael Porter s diamond model of competitive advantage, published in 1990, sought to understand
why a particular nation had the ability to succeed in a particular industry (Hill, 2015). Within the
model are four attributes that include demand conditions; related and supporting industries; factor
endowments and firm strategy; and structure and rivalry (Hill, 2015). Upon the fulfillment of all
four attributes, the country in question will be regarded as holding a competitive advantage in a
particular industry. Porter argues that these factors are created, not endowed (Bernard, 2016).
Beyond these four factors, the government may intervene to an extent, whilst still remaining true to
the spirit of free trade non intervention or disruption. They do so through trade policies that have an
influence over the imports,

Mina realises this and pleads with the men to not tell her anything that might give their plans away.
I found Dracula particularly vivid in detail, this contributed to making the novel more
frightening, the horror and blood filled images were described so brilliantly that I could not
help but imagine them. Her white night dress was smeared with blood, and a thin stream
trickled down the man s bare breast, which was shown by his torn open dress. The attitude of the

to drink. This horrifying scene continues, His eyes flamed red with devilish passion, his aquiline
nose opened wide and quivered at the edges; and the white sharp teeth, behind the full lips of the
blood dripping mouth, champed together like those of a wild beast. In В‘Frankenstein the monster
does not wish to spill blood and uses strangulation as his only method of killing, the murder scenes
are not described in as much horrific detail and this leads to a less frightening view of the novel.
To me, Dracula is a corrupt person, devoid of any human feelings, he does not wish to and cannot
feel compassion for any other living soul, he is completely self involved and lives a solitary life,
the only companions of his kind are the three female vampires. The difference with Frankenstein s
monster is that he is a creature corrupted by

The Influence Of Social Classes In Renaissance Europe
There were three social classes during the renaissance people are to be a part of; citizens, poor
people and government. Your class would be chosen by your job, money, and if you were under
government power. The only job poor people had were working on farms. They were not able to
leave the area that they worked on. They dressed simple, and ate lots of bread and other simple
foods. The poor people had very tiny homes with a maximum of four bedrooms. As long as they
had a roof over their head they were satisfied. Citizens were the ones who weren t farmers, they
had tons of free time and loved telling their friends stories. They had money to eat expensive
foods, and they loved to go on family trips together. They also loved bread and ate tons of bread.
If you were considered a French citizen you ate nothing but tons of soup. The government was
filled with rich people; their houses were small palaces. They would go to bug dinners and eat
tons of food like soups, wines and meats. The most expensive food there was the soups. There
were more than 50 different types of soups. Trading was very good because it lets things like
spices and silk move around. Some very important trading centers were Asia, Florence, and Venice.

regulate trade and ration imported goods, but the business of smuggling thrived. These actions
brought on an exchange rate system, but the government did not fully understand the impact of the
rate system. Inflation spiraled out of control by 1994. The government came with a new plan to

Analyzing Persuasive Techniques in Old Spice s The Man Your Man Could Smell Like Commercial
Student: Mia Sarić

This essay covers persuasive techniques used in the video commercial for Old Spice deodorant, as
well as the messages that lie in the heart of the very commercial. The essay will try to explain the
techniques and effects of persuasion on targeted audience, while at the same time referring to style
and language. A great emphasis is put on humor, as it is the main technique of persuasion used in the
very commercial.

Advertisers have applied the sex sells rule of advertising on this commercial, with the change of
men being objectified rather than women, and mixed it with humor in order to create a desirable
effect.
Before turning to analysis of other techniques, it is important to mention the use of language and
sentences as well, which cannot really be seen as a persuasive technique but is a powerful tool in
manipulating audience. Sentences in the commercial are brief and straight to the point. The
narrator is confident and he knows what he is talking about no stops in between the sentences, no
improvisation and no commas, which, aside with random images, helps to create the desirable
dynamic effect. Dynamic commercial embodies the dynamic lifestyle led by the targeted audience,
which consists of young people who are always on the move and trying to keep up with the modern
world.
As for the style and tone of the author, it is important to mention that the narrator states his point of
view up front, the language is forceful and persuasive, making the narrator sound arrogant and
powerful, even superior to the audience he is talking to. He is even making fun of the audience,
which is, however, not to be taken seriously, taking into account that the parodying tone is present
from the very beginning and it is clear that the intention is to make fun of the male and female
stereotypes, rather than the audience.
After analyzing the messages,

I am very proud of my performance of my widget speech. I prepared by writing my speech in
advanced and practicing it for 20 minutes every night. The only thing I regret about the preparation
of this speech was waiting till the last minute to make the poster. But I thought the delivery went
well. I think the only thing that went badly wrong was me having a brain fart on the speech when I
had had it memorized for two days. I think it was the intimidation of peers that made me nervous.
Overall, I achieved my speech calmly and confidently. I scored myself a 6 in this category because
I did not rush the speech and I did not have a shaky speaking voice. I also scored myself a 6 for

I am a quiet person when it comes to a group I am not used to talking in front of so I need to work
on voice projection. I am scoring myself a 6 in clear words and appropriate because I stated my
speech clearly and had no hesitations.
I definitely need to work on expressions. I scored myself 3 because I think a started the speech with
a smile and it slowly died and I looked like I was unhappy by the end. As for emotion I scored
myself a 2 because I was very monotoned and I had no change in pitch.
I thought I did a good job with eye contact. I scanned the room trying to look all directions but I
didn t look into every single person s eye s so scored myself a 5 in this category. The eye contact I
felt was mostly consistent but I still think I looked down too much so I scored myself a 4.
I felt I did poorly in gestures. I give myself a 2 because I felt I had little to no gestures most of the
time my hands were on the podium. I thought my face expressions were minimal so I scored
myself a 4. And I will also score myself a 4 in body language because I felt I had some but not

INTRODUCTION:
ECM:
An electronic countermeasure (ECM) is an electrical or electronic device intended to trick or
mislead radar, sonar or other detection systems, like infrared (IR) or lasers. It may be used both
offensively and cautiously to negate targeting data to an enemy. The system may make many
distinct targets appear to the opponent, or make the actual target appear to vanish or move about
indiscriminately. It is used efficiently to protect aircraft from guided missiles. Many air forces use
ECM to protect their airplane from attack. It has also been deployed by military ships and newly
on some cutting edge tanks to fool laser guided missiles. It is frequently coupled with stealth
advances so that the ECM systems have an easier job. Offensive ECM often takes the form of
jamming. Defensive ECM includes using blip enhancement and jamming of missile terminal
homers.
ACTIVE ECM:
It is a method which involves degradation of effectiveness of enemy equipment by transmitting
electromagnetic radiation. Which can be achieved by noise or deceptive jamming.
NOISE JAMMING:
The main function of noise jamming is to create an interference to the

Lyndon B. Johnson s Foreign Highlights
Lyndon B. Johnson s Foreign Highlights
Lyndon B. Johnson became president in 1963, a time period in which the United States was
engaged in two battles on both the domestic and the international fronts. At home the President was
faced with growing Civil Rights issues and abroad he faced some of the greatest challenges of his
political career. Internationally the United States was already undergoing a Cold war with the Soviet
Union and the newly adopted policy of containment had become the answer to all of the rising
Communist movements all over the world. In Vietnam a massive Civil War was underway as the
Pro Communist Regime of the North invaded the Pro American Regime of the South. The North,
which was led by Ho Chi Minh, was backed by the Soviet Union, China and other communist allies
invaded the South backed by the United States and other anti communist allies. Minh s army
consisted of North Vietnamese forces and the Viet Cong, a South Vietnamese communist common
front aided by the North. Ngô Đình Diệm, the leader of the South, had forces that consisted
of South Vietnamese Soldiers and US Soldiers. Amidst these conflicts Johnson rose and took
initiatives that would define American Policy in Vietnam for the rest of his presidency. The Gulf of
Tonkin incident was one of the incidents that increased United States influence and intervention in
Vietnam. The USS Maddox, was in the Gulf Of Tonkin when it reported to be fired upon by a North
Vietnamese motorboat. Following this

Nitration of Methyl Benzoate Essay
Nitration of Methyl Benzoate
Abstract: This procedure demonstrates the nitration of methyl benzoate to prepare methyl m
nitrobenzoate. Methyl benzoate was treated with concentrated Nitric and Sulfuric acid to yield
methyl m nitrobenzoate. The product was then isolated and recrystallized using methanol. This
reaction is an example of an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction, in which the nitro group
replaces a proton of the aromatic ring. Following recrystallization, melting point and infrared were
used to identify and characterize the product of the reaction.
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl
benzoate, concentrated nitric acid, and concentrated sulfuric acid via an ... Show more content on

The product attained was a white, dry solid. The small amount of product lost during the second
recrystallization was most likely do to impurities, which were filtered away with the methanol.
Impurities that contributed to the low percent yield could be due to side reactions such as methyl o
nitrobenzoate and methyl p nitrobenzoate. Although the percent yield attained was low, the product
attained was fairly pure due to similarity in melting point and IR spectrum compared to standardly
accepted values for methyl m nitrobenzoate.
Spectrum:
C H stretch of the aromatic ring near 3100 cm 1
Strong peak near 1750 cm 1 representing the carbonyl ester stretch Two NO2 stretches at 1530 cm
1 and a little under 1300 cm 1
Aromatic C=C stretch near 1600 cm 1.
The IR spectrum attained also contained a slightly broad stretch between 3200 3600 cm 1, this
could be indicative of a phenol group present or an alcohol impurity. One theory to this impurity
may be due to a dirty salt plate used during the spectra reading. Alcohol residue could be remaining
on the plate from previous laboratory experiments.
Questions: 1. Why is methyl m nitrobenzoate formed in this reaction instead of ortho or para
isomers?
Methyl m Nitrobenzoate is formed in this reaction rather than ortho/para isomers because of the
ester group of your starting product of methyl benzoate. The ester group on the ring is an electron
withdrawing group

Pericles Lion And The Sea-Onion Analysis
he Lion and the Sea Onion. Most self respecting artists would pick the former as the subject for a
monument and dismiss the latter. Yet, the man behind the moniker of Sea Onion cannot be so
easily dismissed. Pericles, the great Athenian statesman, was nicknamed
Schinocephalos
, or Sea Onion, by contemporary poets because of the large size of his head ( Pericles , History.com).
The Lion of Justice, in this case, refers to King Henry II of England ( King Henry II Biography ).
On the surface, both Henry II and Pericles appear to be equally great leaders who made lasting
impact on Western civilizations. Henry II established the English Common Law, which ensured
the same laws applied everywhere in the country (Hinds 60). He also laid the foundation for a
unified Britain by claiming Scotland and Ireland as parts of his realm (Morgan 143). Pericles
united the Greek city states into an empire known as the Delian League with Athens at its center (
Pericles , University Press Inc). Under his leadership and patronage, arts, literature, and philosophy
flourished, creating a cultural legacy that shaped all areas of Western thinking. Pericles also led the
restoration of the Acropolis and the ambitious construction of the Parthenon (Nardo 10). But
looking beyond their accomplishments, these two historical figures differ greatly in their
motivations and personal conducts. Arguably, two of the most essential traits of a good leader are
integrity and dedication to the common good. Using these qualities as a metric for comparison, we
will see that Henry II falls short while Pericles is clearly deserving of a monument in his honor
.
Both Henry II and Pericles were highly driven and ambitious. But while Henry was fueled by the
desire to glorify himself and his reign, Pericles wished to glorify Athens and its people. Henry II
wanted to reclaim lands that were previously under his grandfather s rule. He used force and
threats to claim lordship over Wales, Scotland, and Ireland (Hinds 12). In his mind, it was his
birthright. As a general and statesman, Pericles also helped reclaim land (noticeably Delphi) for
Athens ( Pericles , Bio). But rather than conquering neighboring poleis
, Pericles chose to focus on making Athens a city

The Haskalah Movements

Haskalah advocated integration of the Jews into their surrounding societies encouraging among
other things the adoption of local vernaculars, secular studies and economic productivity the

  • 2. Importance Of Animal Use For Entertainment The third reason that humans use animals is for entertainment. Animal circuses, aquariums, zoos, bullfighting, and dog fighting are examples of using animals for enjoyment. There has always been a conflict whether it is ethical to keep animals in captivity and away from their natural habitat just for fun. Humans started using animals for amusement since the ancient years. Even though the previous generations methods were more deadly and cruel, the same concept of animal use for entertainment is still applied. Kate Good, a famous author and animal activist, states in her article Five Cruel Methods Used to Train Animals That Will Make You Skip the Next Animal Show in No Time: When you stop looking at these attractions as an opportunity for you to see the animalsyou love, and see them for the profit driven businesses they truly are, the discrepancies between good intentions and cruel action becomes apparent. People visit the entertainment centers because they love animals without knowing why the animals act the way they do. The crowd applauses when an elephantrides a tricycle, when a cat jumps through multiple burning rings, when bears play soccer, or when dolphins draw Christmas trees. Do these animals understand what they are doing? Are they doing what they are doing because they enjoy it? No, evidence has revealed that animals go through a cruel process, also known as PHAJAAN, since their infancies to be trained for these humane activities for the public. ... Wedding cakes began as once a simple tradition of weddings. Now they are one of the biggest elements of someone s big day. Wedding cakes have been influenced by society and several other aspects that have immensely improved its appearance and quality. Over several time periods, culture and new technique have allowed the weddingcaketo evolve to what it is today. Wedding cakes have grown and developed from two main ethnical traditions. • 4. Camping At Devils Lake The vibrant greens, the hastening winds through the trees, the mosquitoes biting where mosquito spray is lacking, and the raccoons stealing the last box of lucky charms, these are some of the joys experienced in the great outdoors. The outdoors is one of my favorite get away locations. From before my adolescence to this day, I am an outdoorsman: From campingat Devils Lake, to canoeing the Canadian Boundary Waters, and even sailing the Florida Keys. Camping is enjoyable for me because it is a place of freedom, a place of relaxation, and a place where I can create memories with my family and friends. The secluded outdoors, away from cities, is a place broken away from the chains of society. Though campgrounds still have rules, the rules instituted our quite lax in both definition and enforcement. People can often do a lot more in a campground or in nature reserves than in cities or even towns. A minor example of this would be the use of bicycles, in a city bicycles need to ride in the bike lane on the right side of the road, however in a campground you can ride the bike on the road or take it off road onto the trails and explore. Though most campgrounds have rules on where you can ride your bike, the rules are not very strict nor are they very enforced. Since there is only a minute amount of people you encounter while camping it also allows you the freedom of doing whatever you want without the judgmental eyes of society laying upon you. I enjoy the lack of judgment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of those instruments is a trombone. The interesting thing about the trombone is that many people played that instrument. Many others prefer to play a smaller instrument or they over complicate the trombone. Some people describe the trombone as it is a big instrument. The people that actually play it know the name and how it works. Of course it is called trombone and the big moving thing is called a slide. Once you learn about the basics of it you will understand more and more. There is also a certain way to hold it and on what shoulder to put it on. The bell will be on your left shoulder and it would look like a V angle. In order to hold it your left hand position will be with you thumb behind a tube and three fingers on the first slide brace then one across the slide crossing over the mouthpiece. That s how you would hold a trombone if you re a beginner. The trombone is considered a brass instrument in the wind ensemble. The Trombone is played in jazz, concert, solo, and symphony playing(The Art of Trombone Playing, Page 2). The trombone plays on the bass clef. It is completely different notes than most woodwind instrument. Trombone has a tone a level lower than instruments that are played on treble clef. The tenor trombone is played on bass clef and others are also. The trombones have different tones, for example the bass trombone has a lower pitch than the tenor trombone. • 6. Plato s The Meno, A Greek Philosopher And The Wisest Of... Alexis Evans Midterm Paper 11/4/14 Topic 1 In Plato s The Meno, Socrates, who was a Greek philosopher and considered one of the wisest of all people expresses his views on the relationship between knowledge and virtue. In todays era, virtue is defined as having good morals as a human being. Knowledge is defined as factual information and skills that are acquired by a person through experience or education. Together Socrates makes a statement and or beliefs, that virtue is knowledge because if you know what is right, you will in fact do what is right. While in a conversation with Socrates, Meno then asks if virtue can ever be taught. Socrates answers his question in that they both have to discuss at that point if virtue can be taught because he is uncertain. They must first define clearly what virtue is to even answer Meno s question of if virtue can even be taught or not. At the end of the debate, the final conclusion Socrates makes is that virtue is not something natural or can never be taught. Socrates then believes that it is just simply a gift from god that we all receive it without ever realizing. Through the process, Meno and Socrates go at it, Meno thinking he is getting close to the correct answer just to have Socrates shot it down. After a few times of Meno guessing, he doesn t have anything else to say and gives up. Socrates main argument responds with that learning is not discovering anything new but rather remembering something the soul knew before your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Reason I Decided On What My Major Will Be The reason I decided on what my major will be When I started college, my mind decided that I wanted to study pre veterinary. I thought that it was my calling and was what I was meant to do in life. I realized through many different activities and events in college, that I had a calling for something else. I joined a campus ministry called The Navigators and started to disciple under one of the leaders named Josh Lashbrook. We started to meet one day a week, so he could teach me and start to mold me into a leader. He taught me different religious tools and techniques on how to talk to people and sharing the word of God. When I first started to have meeting with him, I did not have a lot of knowledge on speaking with others and trying to convey a good message. I went in the commons and started to go around with him and sit with random strangers. Some of them were believers in our religion, believers in a different religion, or not believers at all. It was cool to see the differences between everyone and see how many actually have things in common. Josh taught me that when I talked to people, do not use only emotions because sometimes people can feel what you feel and can take it as a negative or positive meaning to what you are trying to say. He also taught me that you have to have an attitude that ensembles a good and positive way of life. I learned that doing it by yourself is hard when you have little skill or knowledge on what needs to be done. By joining the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. God s Speech On God Essay God gave us the bible so that we can understand rational truths with our mind and know what to believe. He teaches us how to Worship by painting a picture of the world through his eyes. He teaches us about ourselves, eternity, why we are here on Earth, and how to know right from wrong so we can Worship the greatness that is him. Godhas given us many commands like in Matthew 22: 37 39 to follow but we should take the teaching and understand the relationship that is presented between us and the Worship of him. God wants us to experience him and his world. By understanding God s invitation to know him better we learn not only more about him, but more about ourselves. We learn what sins to avoid, what parts of our lives need to be changed, how we can love others through him, and what are his plans and purpose for our lives thorough him are. To Worship becomes lessons on how to live a fulfilled life that we could never accomplish without him like in Psalm 19: 7 8; and Corinthians 5:17. Worship must be sincere and selfless. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary . Psalms 96:5 6. This illustrates how we must not worship God because of the wealth He possesses. We must worship him because He is the Lord almighty. Worship is not sincere if it is done to only benefit your personal wellbeing. It is having a selfless desire deep within ones soul to give up everything to God, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Why Plastic Bags Should Be Banned Banning Plastic Bags The plastic bag is an innovative invention all around the world. It makes the world more convenient and because of this convenience, the plastic bag is multi purposeful and is used widespread such as in stores, houses, restaurants, etc. However, the problem is that a lot of people do not know that plastic bags have many harmful effects. First of all, plastic bags cause environmental damages, and produces cataclysmic events in wildlife. For example, plastic bags become litter after they are found in waterways, parks, beaches, and streets. Plastic bags also effect air when burned, infusing the air with toxins. Something that many may not think about when they think of plastic bags is the harmful effects it brings to the animals. The death of countless animals such as dolphins, turtles, penguins, etc. is due to the production of plastic bags. The ocean is home to thousands of species and ocean wonders but there is so often trash thrown into the sea that disrupts the life beneath the water. Those animals ingest plastic bags and ultimately die, while another animal comes back and eats that dead animal which results in a chain reaction that is going to come back around and bite humans back. The public should realize that plastic bags have adverse effects, and those effects will be worse than the convenience of using a plastic bag. Plastic bags produce environmental pollution. • 10. Reformer Influence On John Calvinism Calvinism is a movement within orthodox Protestantism associated with the Reformer John Calvin that emphasizes the rule of God over all things. The concept of Calvinism began not with John Calvin (as it is commonly mistaken) but rather with a Reformer in Switzerland named Ulrich /Huldrych Zwingli. Zurich was well known for urging the reformation of the Catholic Church, criticising the use of images in worship and generally attempting to spread the Reformation. Some parts of the country conformed to the change but others resisted, staunchly remaining Catholic. This resulted in a theocratic division within the nation. • 11. The Role Of Women In The Bride Price By Buchi Emecheta The Bride Price by Buchi Emecheta follows the story of Aku nna, a young girl from the Ibo people of Nigeria, who reaches the marrying age after her father s death. While anticipated to bring in a large sum of money from marriage, she refuses to date any of the suitors presented to her, instead choosing her lover, a descendant of slaves, and bringing dishonor upon her family. A suitor then kidnaps her, but she manages to escape him and elope with her lover; she eventually dies in childbirth with their conceived daughter. In the novel, Nigerian culture, specifically of the Ibo people, establishes a patriarchal society. Because of this, women are treated as inferior, as evident by expectations and marriage/dating customs that infringe upon their freedom and dignity. The role of women in Ibo society is demonstrated in The Bride Price by the expectations to be obedient under the ownership of older males, to fulfil motherhood as early and fruitfully as possible, to abide by menstrual hygiene rules, to be pure through chastity, and to follow such standards or else bring shame upon their family. In the patriarchal society of the Ibo, a womanmust submit to an older man s demands specifically of a husband or family member; she is rarely in full control of herself. Emecheta writes that a girl belonged to you today as your daughter, and tomorrow, before your very eyes, would go to another man in marriage to suggest the presence of a dominant male figure in all walks of life (17). ... What weapons were better, how fast could the weapon could be loaded these were all things people had to look at with weapons in the civil war. There were weapons that you could personally buy or you could just get the standard weapon they would give you when you to go to war which was a standard musket.so whos weapons were better? The Minie ball was a huge improvement it was designed to expand while traveling along the rifle barrel, it increased muzzle velocity as well as causing spin to the bullet, making its accuracy and range far better. It was made of soft lead, it was a little smaller than the gunbore, making it easy to load in combat. Many people feel that the reason there were so many casualties in the war was due to the minie ball. The minie ball was used by both side confederate and the north, but the north had more ammunition. Cannons were also a big factor in the war also there were quite a few types of cannons, including the 6 pounder gun, M1857 12 pounder, 12 pounder Howitzer, 24 pounder Howitzer, 10 pounder Parrott rifle, 3 inch Ordnance Rifle, and the 20 pounder Parrott rifle. Smoothbore cannon which were cannons without rifling in the barrel were still used, falling into two categories, guns and howitzers, for firing at higher trajectories and shorter ranges. • 14. Congressional Era Of Reconstruction During Post Civil War... Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. Henry Ford. This was the Southern optimist s view of what the results of post Civil War Reconstruction could be. Unfortunately, once the Congressional era of Reconstruction began, this view was squandered under federal punishment of the South. This policy led to strained relations between Congress and the ex Confederate states. The difference of opinion was over how harshly the South should be punished for leaving the Union. The South wanted to be readmitted with as little friction as possible, so they sided with the Democrats, like Robert E. Lee, and Moderate Republicans. Congress on the other hand, being mostly controlled by Radical Republicans, believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One explicit difference of policy was over the use of troops to put the South into military districts that were under martial law and putting Northern Generals over Southern troops. As historian S. Chase said in the Democratic National Committee of 1873 There should have been as little military government as possible. This policy was even more harshly debated because these troops were there to enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until they were forced to vote for it if they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do because they lost the Civil War. This force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of place in a country that claimed to be the land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a Democracy. This ideological difference between Southerners and Congress has been a major point of contention in discussions about Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice. Another point of policy disagreement can be seen in how representation in the South would be handled. In accordance with Congressional Reconstruction, certain classes of ex Confederates, such as the class that Robert E. Lee was in, were excluded from being granted their suffrage . This was an outrage to Southerners for two reasons. The first is that the certain classes being exempted from regaining their suffrage were the highest part of the upper class and the people of high rank from the ex Confederate ... Under the rule of the Prince Regent, life was transformed into a decade of social standings, where income and the amount of land you inherited determined your worth to many people. Pride over this has caused her to be quick to judge as she sees fit. This trait is especially shown in her first interaction with Mr. Darcy, a wealthy, seemingly proud, and handsome gentleman. The people of Hertfordshire county consider him to be the most disagreeable man in the world (Austen 8). She comes to agree with the gossip when she overhears him commenting that she is not handsome enough to tempt [him], (Austen 9). As they spend more time together he starts to develop feelings for her, but does not act on it because of her lower class. Here we can see how his pride and societal upbringing gives him a preconception against others. Her prejudice against him causes her to see everything he says or does in a negative light. Throughout the novel, this use of pride and prejudice leads to many misunderstandings about the true character of the people in it. The introducement of Mr. Wickham, a handsome man from Darcy s past, proves to progress the story as an influence Elizabeth s prejudice. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socially everyone thinks that kids that listen to rap music are more prone to violence and abuse towards women and that is how it has been looked at in our culture, when really it s not the actually listening of the music than it is the rap videos themselves that portray the misogynistic views and create misogynistic attitudes within the audience that lead to a more accepting view of violence against women. Unfortunately racist and sexist slurs influence real people, for example sending the message to girls that this is how our society views them and causing issues with self esteem and identity. • 21. Iron Thermal Conductivity And Thermal Expansion Aluminium is a very reactive metal with high affinity for oxygen but the metal is highly resistant to most environments and to a great variety of chemical agents. This resistance is due to the inert and protective character of the aluminium oxide film which forms on the metal surface. Welding of aluminium still represents a critical operation due to its complexity and the high level of defect that can be produced in the joint. The main problems are related to the properties of aluminium. They are: High thermal conductivity and thermal expansion. High chemical reactivity with oxygen. High hydrogen solubility at high temperature. All this factors can cause presence of defects on the weld bead; like high thermal conductivity and high thermal expansion can cause distortions in the weld, high chemical reactivity with oxygen may include inclusions and porosity in the weld, high hydrogen solubility at high temperature may cause hydrogen embrittlement or hydrogen induced cracking. The Friction Stir Welding(FSW) represents a possible solution. Friction stir welding (FSW) is a new solid state joining technique which was invented by The Welding Institute (TWI) in 1991.This technique is now increasingly used to join high strength aluminium alloys such as 2xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx and 8xxx series. The play was essential to Neelbidraha, or Indigo revolt of February March 1859 in Bengal, when farmers refused to plant indigo in their fields as a protest against exploitative farming under the British Raj. The preface to the play addresses the numerous indigo planters who are offered the neel darpan (the indigo mirror), so that they may take a look reflected in it . In this play it reflects the social, political and economic situations affected by the tyranny of the indigo planters which exploits the Indian peasants. The play is based on Mitra s experience as a postmaster in rural areas of Orissa and Bengal. He saw the indigo farmer s oppression very closely. The trials of the peasants were not only unjust but inhuman and exploitative in nature. Mitra wrote this play to raise a voice against the indigo planters, jamindars and British officials. Even worse, is the commercials that are on everyday television that demoralized and debase a whole raceof people. This type of imagery has led to discrimination against African Americans because they are looked at like they are criminals when that is not the case. Something that is disturbing about this advertisement and the group that was behind making it, Partnership for a drug free America, is that they were funded by over two hundred major American corporations. • 33. Advantages Of International Trade For Developing Nations Advantages of international trade for developing nations Although the concept of free trade and globalisation may subtly imply a polarity between the developed and developing worlds, it can be argued that, in order to function successfully, the pressure to create a competitive and comparative advantage hold all nations on a level playing field. Sinclair Davidson (2015) cited David Ricardo (1821) in his argument that foreign trade is, indeed, beneficial to a country, for a number of reasons. By reducing the cost of commodities and raising living standards through the creation of jobs, international trade allows developing countries to create a competitive advantage. Michael Porter s diamond model of competitive advantage, published in 1990, sought to understand why a particular nation had the ability to succeed in a particular industry (Hill, 2015). Within the model are four attributes that include demand conditions; related and supporting industries; factor endowments and firm strategy; and structure and rivalry (Hill, 2015). Upon the fulfillment of all four attributes, the country in question will be regarded as holding a competitive advantage in a particular industry. Porter argues that these factors are created, not endowed (Bernard, 2016). Beyond these four factors, the government may intervene to an extent, whilst still remaining true to the spirit of free trade non intervention or disruption. Advertisers have applied the sex sells rule of advertising on this commercial, with the change of men being objectified rather than women, and mixed it with humor in order to create a desirable effect. Before turning to analysis of other techniques, it is important to mention the use of language and sentences as well, which cannot really be seen as a persuasive technique but is a powerful tool in manipulating audience. Sentences in the commercial are brief and straight to the point. The narrator is confident and he knows what he is talking about no stops in between the sentences, no improvisation and no commas, which, aside with random images, helps to create the desirable dynamic effect. Dynamic commercial embodies the dynamic lifestyle led by the targeted audience, which consists of young people who are always on the move and trying to keep up with the modern world. As for the style and tone of the author, it is important to mention that the narrator states his point of view up front, the language is forceful and persuasive, making the narrator sound arrogant and powerful, even superior to the audience he is talking to. He is even making fun of the audience, which is, however, not to be taken seriously, taking into account that the parodying tone is present from the very beginning and it is clear that the intention is to make fun of the male and female stereotypes, rather than the audience. It may be used both offensively and cautiously to negate targeting data to an enemy. The system may make many distinct targets appear to the opponent, or make the actual target appear to vanish or move about indiscriminately. It is used efficiently to protect aircraft from guided missiles. Many air forces use ECM to protect their airplane from attack. It has also been deployed by military ships and newly on some cutting edge tanks to fool laser guided missiles. It is frequently coupled with stealth advances so that the ECM systems have an easier job. Offensive ECM often takes the form of jamming. Defensive ECM includes using blip enhancement and jamming of missile terminal homers. ACTIVE ECM: It is a method which involves degradation of effectiveness of enemy equipment by transmitting electromagnetic radiation. Which can be achieved by noise or deceptive jamming. Johnson became president in 1963, a time period in which the United States was engaged in two battles on both the domestic and the international fronts. At home the President was faced with growing Civil Rights issues and abroad he faced some of the greatest challenges of his political career. Internationally the United States was already undergoing a Cold war with the Soviet Union and the newly adopted policy of containment had become the answer to all of the rising Communist movements all over the world. Methyl benzoate was treated with concentrated Nitric and Sulfuric acid to yield methyl m nitrobenzoate. The product was then isolated and recrystallized using methanol. This reaction is an example of an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction, in which the nitro group replaces a proton of the aromatic ring. Following recrystallization, melting point and infrared were used to identify and characterize the product of the reaction. Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, concentrated nitric acid, and concentrated sulfuric acid via an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The product attained was a white, dry solid. The small amount of product lost during the second recrystallization was most likely do to impurities, which were filtered away with the methanol. Impurities that contributed to the low percent yield could be due to side reactions such as methyl o nitrobenzoate and methyl p nitrobenzoate. Although the percent yield attained was low, the product attained was fairly pure due to similarity in melting point and IR spectrum compared to standardly accepted values for methyl m nitrobenzoate. Spectrum: C H stretch of the aromatic ring near 3100 cm 1 Strong peak near 1750 cm 1 representing the carbonyl ester stretch Two NO2 stretches at 1530 cm 1 and a little under 1300 cm 1 Aromatic C=C stretch near 1600 cm 1. The IR spectrum attained also contained a slightly broad stretch between 3200 3600 cm 1, this could be indicative of a phenol group present or an alcohol impurity. One theory to this impurity may be due to a dirty salt plate used during the spectra reading. Alcohol residue could be remaining on the plate from previous laboratory experiments. Questions: 1. Why is methyl m nitrobenzoate formed in this reaction instead of ortho or para isomers? Methyl m Nitrobenzoate is formed in this reaction rather than ortho/para isomers because of the ester group of your starting product of methyl benzoate. • 49. Pericles Lion And The Sea-Onion Analysis he Lion and the Sea Onion. Most self respecting artists would pick the former as the subject for a monument and dismiss the latter. Yet, the man behind the moniker of Sea Onion cannot be so easily dismissed. Pericles, the great Athenian statesman, was nicknamed Schinocephalos , or Sea Onion, by contemporary poets because of the large size of his head ( Pericles , History.com). The Lion of Justice, in this case, refers to King Henry II of England ( King Henry II Biography ). On the surface, both Henry II and Pericles appear to be equally great leaders who made lasting impact on Western civilizations. Henry II established the English Common Law, which ensured the same laws applied everywhere in the country (Hinds 60). He also laid the foundation for a unified Britain by claiming Scotland and Ireland as parts of his realm (Morgan 143). Pericles united the Greek city states into an empire known as the Delian League with Athens at its center ( Pericles , University Press Inc). Under his leadership and patronage, arts, literature, and philosophy flourished, creating a cultural legacy that shaped all areas of Western thinking. Pericles also led the restoration of the Acropolis and the ambitious construction of the Parthenon (Nardo 10). But looking beyond their accomplishments, these two historical figures differ greatly in their motivations and personal conducts. Arguably, two of the most essential traits of a good leader are integrity and dedication to the common good. Using these qualities as a metric for comparison, we will see that Henry II falls short while Pericles is clearly deserving of a monument in his honor . Both Henry II and Pericles were highly driven and ambitious. But while Henry was fueled by the desire to glorify himself and his reign, Pericles wished to glorify Athens and its people. Henry II wanted to reclaim lands that were previously under his grandfather s rule. He used force and threats to claim lordship over Wales, Scotland, and Ireland (Hinds 12). In his mind, it was his birthright. As a general and statesman, Pericles also helped reclaim land (noticeably Delphi) for Athens ( Pericles , Bio). But rather than conquering neighboring poleis , Pericles chose to focus on making Athens a city ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
