Pacific Oil Case Summary
Pacific Oil Company is a Sweetwater Oil company of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was founded in
1902. One of the major chemical lines of Pacific s is the production of vinyl chloride monomer
(VCM). VCM is subjected to the process of polymerization, in which smaller molecules of vinyl
chloride are chemically bonded together to form larger molecular chains and networks. Pacific Oil s
first major contract with the Reliant Corporation was in 1979. The contract between Pacific Oil and
Reliant was a standard one for the industry and due to expire in December of 1982. The contract was
negotiated by the purchasing managers in Europe then it was reported to the vice presidents in the
states. In February 1982, Jean Fontaine marketing vice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

remaining issues in the contract. Gaudin hoped that Reliant would be willing to agree to extend the

Why did Fanon Argue for a Violent Struggle Against...
In the second half of the twentieth century, started a process of decolonization, first in Asia and then in
Africa. In 1949, India was one of the first country to gain its independence, followed by Burma,
Malaysia, and Ceylon. In Africa the decolonization started a few years later, first in Libya and Egypt,
and in the rest of the continent afterwards. The main colonists were the Great Britain and France. The
history has shown that Great Britain succeeded to decolonize generally in peace while France had
much more problems to give up its colonies, which led to numerous conflicts opposing the colonists
and the colonized. It has been the case especially in Algeria where a murderous war lasted almost
eight years. The philosopher Frantz Fanon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1945 Fanon moved to France and settled in Lyon. Fanon studied medicine as well as philosophy,
literature and psychology. He became a doctor in a psychiatric hospital in France and then in Algeria,
where he moved in 1953. With the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution in 1954 he started studying the
Algerian situation and joined the National Liberation Front, in favour for the Algerian Independence.
In 1957, he was expelled by the colonial authorities and joined the provisional government of the
Algerian Republic in Tunis. Fanon wrote about colonialism and he praised the use of violence against
colonists in his book The Wretched of the Earth, which was published the same year he died of
leukaemia, in 1961, and two years before the independence of Algeria (Alice Cherki, 2000). So Fanon
s life has been quite short but rather rich in events. Although he was mixed race, Fanon has
experienced racism when he arrived in France. Thus it is not surprising that he identified to the
Algerian people who were colonized by the French, and more generally to all colonized and oppressed
populations. But the paradox, as Henri Louis Gates underlines it, is that Algerian people themselves
considered him as a European Interloper and did not recognised his

Amos And A Sinful World
Amos and a Sinful World
Throughout Israel s history, they have been oppressed by many of the larger powers in the areas they
are in. Take the Israelites interactions with the Egyptians, for example. Generations after Joseph s
death, the Egyptians forgot the reasons why the Israelites were in Egypt in the first place. They took
advantage of the large population of the Israelites, oppressing them by forcing them to do manual
labor for Pharaoh and implementing a blanket infanticide of their sons to keep the population from
growing too large. God then delivered the Israelites from Egypt through the God directed work of
Moses, gradually drawing them closer to Him as He provided for them and showed them His love.
This intimate relationship with God is the trademark of a period of prosperity for the Israelites as long
as they relied on God. However, once the Israelites become distracted and wandered away spiritually,
they consistently saw periods of defeat in battle and oppression by outside sources that consistently
end once they return to God and His ways again. It is not until Israel rejects God as their king and puts
a human in His place, when Israel sees oppression from both outside and inside sources. The outside
sources come from the surrounding peoples, like the Philistines, the Moabites, the Edomites, and so
on. The inside oppression, however, stems from the Israelites themselves. This is where Amos, a
prophet of God, comes in. Amos is alive after the time of the unified

Synthesis Of Aspirin Lab Report
Experiment 19: Synthesis of Aspirin and Oil of Wintergreen The purpose of this experiment was to
employ techniques to synthesize aspirin and oil of wintergreen and to purify crude aspirin via
recrystallization. Additionally, techniques were learned to determine the purity of the synthesized
organic molecule of acetylsalicylic acid using a back titration method. The objectives of the
experiment were achieved by synthesizing the organic molecules of acetylsalicylic acid (using
salicylic acid and acetic anhydride), and methyl salicylate (using salicylic acid and methanol). FeCl3
was added to each synthesized product to test for the presence of a hydroxyl group ( OH). FeCl3

Both salicylic acid and methyl salicylate are phenols containing a hydroxyl group that reacts with the
metal ions of FeCl3 to produce a brightly coloured magenta complex. The crude aspirin sample
reacted with FeCl3 to produce a translucent purple solution. Salicylic acid was tested as well and
reacted with FeCl3 to produce a dark purple opaque solution. Thus it was determined that the crude
aspirin sample did contain unreacted salicylic acid/acetic acid. The crude sample of aspirin was then
purified using water to remove unreacted acetic acid and then a recrystallization method to remove
unreacted salicylic acid. The crude product was dissolved in a warm solvent (95% ethanol) and then
allowed to cool to room temperature. Due to the differences in solubility of salicylic acid and aspirin
this method allowed for the isolation of aspirin as it crystallized out of solution. Of the 1.322 g of
crude aspirin, 0.684 g were recovered after the solution underwent the recrystallization process
resulting in a percent recovered of 51.74%. The melting point was determined for both the crude and
purified aspirin samples. The crude aspirin sample produced a melting range of 90˚ 101˚celsius and
the purified aspirin sample produced a melting of 117˚ 132˚celsius. The melting point of the crude
sample was determined to be 101˚C and the melting point of the purified sample was determined to be
132˚C. The

The Influence Of Globalization On Contemporary...
Globalization is a social process independent of man s will. It is also a dynamic development process
with inner contradictions and a dual nature. Although it provides a rare historic opportunity for many
countries to develop, it also creates differences, competition and conflicts of interest. Globalization s
contradictions and dual nature also exert a complicated influence on contemporary international
relations.
While globalization deepens mutual dependence and further promotes this era s trend toward peace
and development, its nature of imbalance has led to the rise of power politics in the same period,
complicating the process of multipolarization.
The acceleration of globalization has continually deepened mutual dependence and ... Show more

However, since the current globalization process took shape at a time when the old international order
had not yet undergone fundamental change, the Western developed countries remain dominant. They
are the biggest beneficiaries while the developing countries are in an adverse situation. Thus the
imbalance of forces in the international structure has been aggravated. In 1999, the developed
countries, whose populations account for only 20 percent of the world total, possess 80 percent of the
global GDP and 81.2 percent of the total volume of world trade. The political and economic strength
of a vast number of developing countries has weakened relatively rather than strengthened within a
certain period. Hegemonism and power politics will intensify for a considerable period of time and
new interventionism will likely run wild. The imbalance in the globalization process means that the
multipolarization of international politics will follow a long and tortuous road.
In the process of globalization, a vast number of developing countries are faced with more and more
challenges on the issue of national sovereignty. Effectively safeguarding national economic security
has become a new task for these countries.
In the process of globalization, different countries have different circumstances and standing. The
developing countries, including China, are faced with unprecedented challenges and

Research Paper On Magnets
Levitating is not only for magicians, but for magnets too. Scientist have been using magnetism to
create levitation for years. Recently, they have advanced their technology and expanded their
knowledge about magnetism and levitation and conformed them to be used in everyday life. Magnetic
levitation can be broken down into so many different topics such as magnetism and levitation, but
there is a much deeper meaning to magnetic levitation. A magnet is an object that has a magnetic field.
It can attract heavy objects such as iron and steel. A magnet can be in many shapes and sizes. The
word magnet came from the elderly Cretan shepherd, Magnes. He supposedly found a rock that had a
strong magnetic force. In the rock was large amounts of lodestone. The most common magnet used
today is the bar magnet. They can also be used in compasses. ... Show more content on

Magnetic levitation uses the natural repelling nature of the poles that are of the same kind to control
levitation. This can come in many different forms and all made differently. One way is permanent
magnets, which is the easiest of all the forms because it does not require any outside material to make
the levitation, but it is not very controllable. Magnetism is the main component in the levitation act.
Magnetism has been around ever since Earth was created. It is the force that is generated by the
motion of electrons within its atoms. Earth spins and has gravity because of magnetism. It is created
within the processes inside of earth, the core. Earths core is made of iron and ore that is constantly in a
spinning motion which forms a pure magnetic force. Magnetism also creates north and south poles
that the earth spins. The magnetism that earth gives off is called earths magnetic

Determining The Efficient Tool For Business Process...
Deciding the Efficient Tool for Business Process Management in Organizations Using

Sravani Vadali
Engineering Management
University of Houston Clear Lake
Introduction to Business Process Management
Business process management (BPM) is a management approach to make an enterprise s activities and
tasks to be more accurate, more competent and more efficient in adapting to the ever changing needs
of business. BPM is a far reaching merging of Business Process Reengineering, Business Process
Improvement, and Business Management strategies and procedures that are intended to convey both
quick and long‐term change. BPM is a structured approach to analyze and continually improve

It is good to consider an organization as a system because a system links inputs and outputs and the
flow of information from one point to the other. Organizations also focus on cross functional teams
and it is a combination of complex resources. Organizations have a need which is defined and goals to
reach their mission. People work as entities and they are a part of the organization.
The work of Porter is significant in the emphasis of the business process. He says value chain is a
comprehensive collection of all the activities that are performed to design, produce, and market,
deliver, and support a product line (Porter, 1985). When we combine the concept of the value chain
and system to the organization we understand that organizations span across functional departments
like finance, marketing, sales, and support etc.
Organizations implementing BPM Systems
One of the influential factors on implementation success that emerges from research, trade literature
and practice is the level of process orientation within an organization. (Parkes, 2002). Typical
advantages of implementing a BPM system in an organization are reduced lead times, fewer hand off
errors, and more flexibility to change the structure of supported business processes. (Parkes, 2002). In
the research community, there is some consensus that the essence of a BPMS is the functionality that
has been attributed historically to a workflow management system. (WfMS). (Van der Aalst et al.,
2003, p.

Alice In The Wonderland Gender
Carroll s created characters for Alice in the Wonderland that also include certain male representations,
which were very commonly seen in the Victorian society. These include March Hares and Mad Hatters
who could be viewed as the way of representing male hostility and attitude towards women of that
time. Being a man, Carroll had to manage his anger because of the regressive desires held by him
(Benson 3). One of the strongest characters in the story was the grinning Cheshire Cat. The cat was
shown to master resolving of all the antipathies caused by Alice, and this made the Cat the saving
signature of Carroll to resolve problems throughout the novel. The author s version of reality remained
the integral part of the novel and among these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Skilled Independent Visa Analysis
There are a number of work visas in Australia, and one of which is the Skilled Independent Visa
(Subclass 189). Australia s economy is one of the biggest in the world, however, a growing economy
means the need for a growing workforce. Unfortunately, Australia is facing constant shortages in
various fields. Fortunately though, you might be there to help fill the void.
If you re interested in working in Australia, you can apply for the Skilled Independent Visa. It is
basically a work visa which is for people with qualifications and abilities that can fill the country s
skill shortages. For example, if there is a shortage of health workers a particular region and if you re a
registered nurse, then you may apply for a Skilled Independent Visa.

Delusions In The Demon Lover
This article examines the concept of delusion found in Elizabeth Bowen s short story The Demon
Lover. Some critics read this story as a war time horror story but, a close examination reveals that it is
much more than that. I argue that this story presents the psychological disorder mainly erotomanic
delusion that Mrs. Drover, the protagonist, suffers from. The reason of this disorder discovered is the
repressed bitter experiences of the past. The effect of this is that she is unable to differentiate between
reality and illusion, between past and present. To support my claim, I have borrowed the insights of
Sigmund Freud and erotomanic delusion as described in DSM IV, and have come to the conclusion
that war does not only destroy the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Melting Pot Play Summary
The Melting Pot by Israel Zangwill is a four act play that speaks about immigration, assimilation,
fusion, pluralism, prejudice, and discrimination. A main character of the play is David Quixano who
immigrated to the non Jewish boroughs of New York. However, David is Jewish and escaped from
Russia. The other main character of the play is Vera Revenda. Vera is a Christian who also came from
Russia. When David and Vera speak out about their love for one another, their families both
disapprove because of who one another are. Similar to Romeo and Juliet, Israel Zangwill produced a
play but with a happy alternative ending. The feud between these two families is due to Vera s father
who was responsible for the death of David s family in a pogrom. A pogrom is an organized massacre
of the Jewish people in Russia. It was in a pogrom that David lost his sister and mother, causing a

Immigrants are defined as people who come to a foreign country to live permanently. People can
immigrate for many of different reasons. During the period that this play was written many
immigrants were coming to America to establish new lives, which included religious freedom,
escaping famine, escaping death, or better wages of profits. David Quixano and his grandmother Frau
Quixano immigrated to the United States to escape the pogroms that were happening in Russia.
Whereas, Vera and her family immigrated to the United States after being under the notice of Czar s
police. While each family member of this play adjusted differently this is, something all immigrates
had to do. Some immigrants like David had an optimistic look on coming to America. However, Frau
was living the same life she did while in Russia and wanting no changes. Vera who initial was very
prejudice overcame her Christian and family ties, whereas David overcame his traumatic memories of

The Benefitions Of Hard Work In My Life
As a young child, my Mother always would tell me; If you want something work hard for it. It s that
simple. That saying was constantly being stated around the house when my brother or I would want to
achieve a certain goal in school, sports or anything. This saying has transformed me over the years
into the hard worker that I am to this day. Throughout my life coaches, family, and teachers regularly
told me to work hard and give 100% effort no matter what and I will succeed. The characteristic of
hard working and constantly giving outstanding effort describes me as a person immensely because I
consistently strive to achieve my goals. Ever since the age of ten, my Mother told me do chores if I
wanted extra money in order to buy anything my little ten year old heart desired. She composed a
chore list and pinned it to the fridge for me to earn a little money, but only if I did the task the best I
could. Although somehow my Mother can always tell when my brother or I aren t giving our full
potential. How? I am still unsure to this day, but we never wanted the repercussions that came if one
of us got caught slacking. Despite giving 100% effort and completing the chores the best I could for
money seemed great, I happened to have what seemed to be a mile long chore list. Overtime out of all
my chores, I realized that my main income from ages ten to fourteen involved scooping up the dog
poop in our backyard for a dollar per pile. Despite the gross appeal, picked up the dog s poop
happened to become a steady income rapidly. Everyday after school I made sure the yard was spotless
so I could earn my money. As years went on, I stopped getting paid to do household chores and they
quickly became an expectation since I live there. With no longer getting paid to do chores I would
soon have to get a job. Eventually I got a job, it was this past summer, I helped bail hay for my uncle
and helping out on his farm when needed. I made sure I was constantly giving a 100% effort to get
that job done because that s what my Mother taught me to do. Since I was consistently hard working,
he knew he could rely on me. Although a household chore and a real job may seem different, I feel
that I should work hard on any chore or job no

Hausman test
Hausman test which usually accepted method of selecting between random and fixed effects which is
running on regression equation. Hausman (1978) provided a tectonic change in interpretation related
to the specification of econometric models. The seminal insight that one could compare two models
which were both consistent under the null spawned a test which was both simple and powerful. The so
called Hausman test has been applied and extended theoretically in a variety of econometric domains.
We focus on the construction of the Hausman test in a variety of panel data settings, and in particular,
the recent adaptation of the Hausman test to semi parametric and nonparametric panel data models. A
formal application of the Hausman test is given focusing on testing between fixed and random effects
within a panel data model. Mostly fixed effects are accepted way to run with panel data as they always
present consistent outcomes but may not be the most effective way to implement. On the other hand,
random effects usually provide to the researcher better P values as it considered to be a more active
estimator, so researcher can study random effects if it is reasonable to do so. Moreover, Hausman test
choose a more effective model compared to a less efficient as consistent model should presents robust
estimates and consistent results owing to the more efficient model.

On April 18th, I went a piano recital performed by Armen Sarkisian. The recital was held in Ford
Crawford Hall, and started at eight thirty. Sarkisian played six songs for the recital: four Sonatas,
including Sonata in C Sharp Minor, K.247, Sonata in A Major, K.24, Sonata in D Minor, K.213, and
Sonata in D Major, K.479, written by Domenico Scarlatti, Fantasie in C Major, Op.17 by Robert
Schumann, and Sonata No.1, Op.22 by Alberto Ginastera.
When I was doing research about Alberto Ginastera, I found out that he was an Argentine composer of
classical music. Also, he was considered one of the most important 20th centry classic composers of
the Americas. It was kind of surprising actually. Sonata No.1, Op.22 was a difficult song to play.
However, it sounded different from traditional classical music, or it does not sound harmonical, so I
thought he was a contemporary composer. I furthered my research. According to wikipedia, Ginastera

The House Of Dreams By La Casa Sognata
La Casa Sognata is translated as The House of Dreams . This is what my family named our home
located in Key Largo. When you walked into the house, it was like all of your worries and problems
disappeared. It really did feel like all of your dreams came true in that one moment. The amount of
amazing memories I have in just one place is unbelievable. From relaxing outside and watching the
sunset to tubing on the back of the wave runners. It was truly amazing. The house was bought in
tribute to my grandmother that passed away on new years eve in 2003. My uncle had her ashes placed
in a memorial and placed in the ocean behind the house. The memorial was situated behind the home
to the west, so the sun always set over her. The memorial was tied to a purple buoy with a wreath. On
new years eve, every year, we would spread flowers on her ashes. We would talk to her and then
celebrate her life in the most relaxing place. My uncle always envisioned a place where everyone
could get together and have the time of their lives, and it was a success. I remember the first time I
saw the house. It was like a mansion in paradise. It was a two story, four bedroom home with a guest
house connected to it. When I first arrived, there was a gate that I had to enter. I got out of the car and
there were beautiful flowers and palm trees leading to the house. On the wall there was a plaque that
had my grandmothers face engraved in it and it said mia bella madre . I kept walking, noticing that

Mauricio Macri Research Paper
The current president of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, was born on February 8, 1959 in Tandil, Buenos

Mauricio s father owns the Philco, an electronic manufacturing company, affiliate in Argentina; a role
Francisco expected Mauricio to take over when he came of age. Instead, Mauricio would become a

Example Of Systematic Literature Review
2.3.1 Systematic Literature Review
Systematic review can help researcher in accumulating knowledge from the range of studies.
Systematic literature review can enhance methodological rigor and also shows opportunities for
further research. A systematic review addresses a specific question, utilizes explicit and transparent
methods to perform a through literature search and critical appraisal of individual studies from which
we can conclude what presently we know and we do not know ( Briner and Denyer, 2012 ).
Systematic reviews adopt replicable, scientific and transparent process, thus differ from traditional
narrative reviews. This minimizes bias through exhaustive literature searches

Analysis of Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Essay
Mahalia Gauld January 18, 2011 MGMT 2850 Case Study #1 Exxon Valdez Situation in Brief: On
March 24, 1989, an Exxon supertanker spilled 11 million gallons of oil while traveling through the
pristine waters of Alaska s Prince William Sound. The consequences of this spill were detrimental and
continue to affect life today. The oil spill killed thousands of wildlife, extensively damaged a portion
of the beautiful Alaskan environment, and eventually affected the economy to global proportions.
Unfortunately, this tragedy could have been prevented. Lack of adequate safety efforts, enforcement,

were aimed toward proper spill prevention and procedures with the Spill Prevention, Control, and

safety regulations are still in effect, they are not enforced with rigor. The Coast Guard, Exxon, the
government, and employees are responsible for being able to perform their duties. This has not
occurred with the crew not trained in their position properly, the Coast Guard not enforcing traffic

In-Yer-Face Theatre Scene Analysis
It offends today, but we look harder and we know, it will not offend tomorrow.
Having commented upon how the In Yer Face term came to be and how the phrase changed over time,
it will be mentioned at this point how this theatre scene developed its place since it was first
recognized by the public.
In yer face theatre always shocks audiences by its language and images; unsettles them by its
emotional frankness and disturbs them by its questioning of moral norms. Most in yer face plays are
not interested in showing events in a detached way and allowing audiences to speculate about them;

Uniting Bowl Kabbalah
The uniting bowl provides a place where everything bonds Before we create anything we should
provide a space and place for it to form. The empty bowl provides the ingredients a place to unite and

the stage of kneading. The bowl s shape caused all contents to arrive at the center at the same time,
therefore the force of mixing caused the integration between them. A woman s belly is envisioned as a

The Letter From Birmingham Jail
The 1960 s was a sad time when segregation existed. Although the colored people were technically
free, were they really free? This time in history was filled with colored people being disgraced,
threatened, held in captivity, and vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at will and drown your
sisters and brothers at whim; when you have seen hate filled policemen curse, kick and even kill your
black brothers and sister (King). Children ripped apart from their families, not being able to socialize
with certain people, or even go to the local amusement park. It was a hard time to be a colored person,
and there was one hope. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed that one day blacks and whites could one
day come together peacefully. King tried to do what he believed was right with everything in his will
to finally join forces and not be talked down on by whites. In the Letter from Birmingham Jail he
includes several events that affect not only him but thousands of others emotionally, he uses creative
examples to get his points across, and lastly King includes multiple past and present historical facts.
King uses a vast amount of emotion into his letter to the clergymen. He believes it will show people
how much the colored people go through and hurt physically and emotionally. Colored people are

Down syndrome is a situation in which a person is born with too many copies of the twenty first DNA

Thomas Hobbes Despotism
After attending the press conference on January 18, 1783 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nine political
philosophers advocated their views on the best form of government. They have reached a consensus.
The most focal being Thomas Hobbes views on the relationship of the governed and the authority,
King Louis s stance on an absolute ruler, and William Laud s premise of religious applications in
government. Therefore, the best form of government is one of an absolute sovereign.
Thomas Hobbes promoted despotism in which the common man is, by all means, submissive to the
unquestionable decision maker. For instance, he claims that men are selfish in their natural state.
Hobbes emphasizes that The condition of man... is a condition of war of everyone against everyone.
This freedom spurs chaos and insecurity. This leads us to his Social Contract theory. Hobbes argues
that people should surrender their rights that limit another s to the governing body in exchange for
security. In other words, since men are inherently driven to act by their wants, a tacit agreement
between men and the monarch is made to shield them from their wickedness. Lastly, Hobbes states
that a division of power will cause internal conflict within government. To put it in another way, there
will always be debate in compromise. Therefore, the nation will ... Show more content on

Henry Stanton, who was a journalist and antislavery orator. They met through the involvement in the

Storage Of The Packet Filtering Essay
1) According to Bergstra and Burgess (2007), static packet filers have a complex network layer. They
only examine one packet at any given time. They also block SNY scans over the network. By only
considering one packet at a given time, stateless packet filtering does not stop major attacks
determined by knowing the position of the packet in a given stream of traffic. There is no context
applied to the packet during transmission. For instance, stateless packet filtering cannot protect against
denial of service (Do S) attack as it only examines the individual packets, instead of determining the
connection state alongside the related and or unrelated packets. 2) Hinglaspure and Burghate (2014)
indicates that since static filers do not preserve the results after examining the packets, they are unable
to relate the current and already examined packets. By only examining some fields of the Internet and
Transport headers, static packet filtering cannot stop the attacks using other packet portions. Hackers
are able to fool static firewalls easily because they are not smart enough. For instance, the filters may
not examine attacks that use data field of the application messages, making the system more disposed
to to the external attack. 2) Application proxy severs safeguard the internal clients from some
mischievous external servers. They force all client connections to pass through the proxy that in turn
examines the application content of all packets during transmission.

The Blurry Lines And Laws Of Dna Fingerprinting
The Blurry Lines and Laws of DNA Fingerprinting Crime solving has come a long way since the P.I
days, and with the extreme advances in biology and the sciences, forensics has integrated itself into
criminology with a fervor. Starting around the 1980 s Scientist Sir Alec Jeffreys and his team first
derived the process of DNA fingerprinting and realized the incredible tool they had at their disposal
for anything from paternity testing to DNA evidence comparison at crime scenes. After Jeffreys DNA
fingerprinting was used to put away a dangerous criminal with matched evidence, the process evolved
using the technology of Poly Chain Reaction (PCR) and Gel Electrophoresis (The history of genetic
fingerprinting). With this relatively easy system of DNA fingerprinting and the very small amount of
easily collected DNA that can be used to develop a fingerprint, criminal convictions using DNA
evidence and fingerprinting has become an integral part of crime scene investigations. And it was with
this increase in dependence upon DNA to solve crimes that the government began to institute more
laws surrounding the collection of DNA from individuals facing arrest, convicted or otherwise. While
DNA exoneration has come a long way in terms of technological advancements and uses, there is
questionability as to what the government is utilizing in requiring mandatory DNA sampling and the
further implications upon human rights as DNA becomes a staple of most criminal conviction cases.

The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life Essay
The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life
Phillis Wheatley overcame extreme obstacles, such as racism and sexism, to become one of the most
acclaimed poets in the 18th Century. Her works are characterized by religious and moral backgrounds,
which are due to the extensive education of religion she received. In this sense, her poems also fit into
American Poetry. However, she differs in the way that she is a black woman whose writings tackle
greater subjects while incorporating her moral standpoint. By developing her writing, she began
speaking out against injustices that she faced and, consequently, gave way to authors such as

In general, religion was a large part of Boston. Few slaves were encouraged to attend church;
however, the Wheatleys attended New South Congregational Church and encouraged Phillis to
embrace the Lord as they had (Mason 4). Because she was asthmatic, she attended Old South
Congregational Church, which was closer to the Wheatley residence (Weidt 15).
By the age of twelve, she had become quite familiar with the Bible as well as literary works of
contemporary English poets. In addition, she translated works by the Latin and Greek writers Ovid
and Homer, respectively (Mason 4). At this same time, after being in Boston for about four years, she
began to take an interest in writing (Mason 4). Susanna supplied Phillis with paper and ink to enable
her to write and even allowed Phillis to ignore her household duties to write emdash;something that
was practically unheard of for a slave (Mason 5). However, Susanna was accommodating because she
wanted Phillis to pursue her religious education and believed that writing would enable her to do so.
Phillis fascination with writing grew, and as time passed, she became especially interested in authors
that shared her religious beliefs. Her favorite writer was Alexander Pope, who was also a Christian. He
was famous for his elegies, which usually had some uplifting conclusion, where hope and love and

Weather elements such as wind, rain and even the UV rays from the sun cause signs of wear to show

Roofs with asphalt shingles only last about 20 to 25 years and at times, less depending on the quality

There is intense rivalry among grocery stores In Australia. As more stores open up regularly, rivalry
determinants has taken in the form of price competition which is undoubtedly the primary form of
competition in this industry where stores are undercutting each other with perks like promotions,
points collecting system and the most commonly seen is by giving generous discounts to consumers
with membership or reward cards.
Stores are also competing in other forms in order to secure loyal customers. Some of the forms are
product range and quality by which stores are offering privately labeled products that are primarily
used in the commodity lines at lower prices.(Australian Government, Department of Agriculture) This
has caused a significant shift in the industry, thus allowing players like ALDI who started with a
private labeled product early on to gain and improve its market share. Another major form is
convenience where several non price factors such as opening hours, strategic locations, parking area,
distribution options (delivery or in store pickup) and online shopping comes into play. (Australian
Government, Department of Agriculture)
An example is when a consumer decides to visit a store; some of the factors a consumer might be
looking for are the store s opening hours, car park and most importantly its location. Taking
Melbourne s CBD area into consideration, we can notice that there are

1320 Research Paper
The 1320 s may sound like a countless number of years ago, but that period of time was a critical part
in the history of the Islamic World. The 1320 s were much more advanced than we thought it was.
There was global trade that connected three continents together and triggered the trade in luxury goods
and the exchange of ideas. Thus, knowledge was spread by Islamic scholars, building major
universities in well known towns. The people of the Islamic World were civilized, having achieved
many noble deeds and maintaining peace with the world. The luxuries exchanged between the three
continents of Asia, Europe and Africa gave the Islamic World many goods and sellable merchandise.
The Islamic World imported products such as rich African gold,

My Experience In Life
There are many moments in an individual s life where they succeed and learn dramatically from their
experience. It could be mentally, physically, or lead them to a higher self esteem and self confidence.
It could be the littlest success such as making a pancake, but it can have so much impact on a persons
self worth. Success can have many different definitions depending on who you ask usually, but at the
end of the day, it s usually improving either as an individual or at a certain task. To begin with, I
believe if you put your mind into something, you can do anything. Growing up, my family has always
had high expectations for me and I ve always felt very determined despite the pressure. Last year, I
had to take the class precalculus which to some people it may come as a very easy or hard thing to
take. It was a very new type of class, and honestly I was taken out of my study comfort zone because
it did require a large amount of hours and work. I would sacrifice so much time such as socializing
with my friends and family, to be the best I could possibly be, and I learned so many study habits I did
not have before the class. I consider taking the class, success as a learner because it was a very
impacting and eye opening experience that will come very useful to me in the future. Furthermore,
being a Latina, I am trying my hardest to achieve the best grades possible to beat statistics and
graduate college. In fact, I am taking numerous

In Search Of Spock Analysis
IN SEARCH OF.... SPIRITUALITY
Growing up I used to watch a show hosted by Leonard Nimoy, Spock from Star Trek, called: In
Search of...(1976 1982). The show investigated the unexplained mysteries of our world. It explored
various topics from paranormal phenomena, to myths, monsters and witchcraft. For most of my life,
spirituality was a very similar elusive quest.
I was raised in religion. Catholicism. Its impact may not have meant much at the time but as my life
transpired, I realized the great significance of these beginnings. My mother who was raised
Episcopalian used to take us to mass on Sundays being the dutiful wife my father was creating her to
be, including assimilating her to his Catholicism. But he never came to church. Surely ... Show more

It was here that responsibility of oneself was the key to finding authenticity. And it was through this,
that I began to understand what it meant to be spiritual. I suppose it isn t too odd to find spirituality in
philosophy because as I study philosophy, I find that its here where seeds of belief spring to life. And
the more I explore, as we will be doing in this class, I realize I haven t even touched the tip, of the
wealth, of information that exists in search of spirituality. But what I have found first and foremost,
spirituality is not religion. Although for myself without religion to use as a comparison I might not be
where I am now. Being instead of doing . A concept I learned about in religion. A concept, as a
collective, especially westerners, has a very difficult time comprehending, mainly because we are

Fluoride had meanwhile gained application in toothpastes. Colgate took the lead, introducing stannous
fluoride in 1955. Three years later, the company launched a memorable advertising campaign with
commercials in which a little girl showed her mother a report card from the dentist and announced
Look, Ma! No cavities! Within a few years, virtually all brands of toothpaste used fluoride; however,
the use of fluoride in drinking water remained controversial.
As late as 1993, in fact, the issue of fluoridation remained heated enough to spawn a study by the U.S.
National Research Council. The council found some improvement in dental health, but not as large as
had been claimed by early proponents of fluoridation. Furthermore, this improvement could be
explained by reference to a number of other factors, including fluoride in toothpastes and a generally
heightened awareness of dental health among the U.S. populace.
Chlorofluorocarbons :
Another controversial application of fluorine is its use, along with chlorine and carbon, in
chlorofluorocarbons. As noted above, CFCs have been used in refrigerants and propellants; another
application is as a blowing agent for polyurethane foam. This continued for several decades, but in the
1980s, environmentalists became concerned over depletion of the ozone layer high in Earth s

Examples Of Fallacies In 12 Angry Men
The film 12 Angry Men is about a jury deliberation of a first degree murder case with a latino 18 year
old as the suspect who accused of killing his father with a knife. Throughout the movie there are many
instances of logical fallacies from every character and good reasoning from few. Below are few
examples of each I have discovered in the film. The first three examples of a logical fallacies I found
were committed by the lead character Juror 8 played Henry Fonda. First example, Look, this kid s
been kicked around all of his life. You know, born in a slum. Mother dead since he was nine. He lived
for a year and a half in an orphanage when his father was serving a jail term for forgery. That s not a
very happy beginning. He s a wild, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The examples of good reasoning are by Juror 8. First , when referring to Juror 2 s opinion that he just
think s he s guilty because nobody proved him otherwise. Juror 8 says that nobody has to prove
otherwise because the burden of proof is on the prosecution the defendant doesn t even have to talk,
that is in the Constitution specifically the fifth amendment. This is good reasoning because he is being
objective and actually taking in consideration the actual laws that come into play with the case.
Second, is when Juror 8 pulls out a knife exactly like the murder weapon that the boy allegedly used.
The other jurors believe that since the knife is so rare and that the shop owner of the shop the knife
was bought from said that he only had one in stock that must mean that the boy killed his father.
Third, Juror calls for a secret ballot vote in order to see if they actually think the boy is guilty without
the chance for ridicule by the other juror. Fourth, they go through an actual demonstration of how the
switchblade knife would wound the father showing that it would have to be a taller man stabbing
down and in to make such a wound. Fifth, They actual demonstrate how much time it would take for
the father to walk to the door. Juror 8 proves how a man who has two strokes in the past three years
and walks with a cane could not get to the front door of his house in 15

One of the major chemical lines of Pacific s is the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). VCM is subjected to the process of polymerization, in which smaller molecules of vinyl chloride are chemically bonded together to form larger molecular chains and networks. Pacific Oil s first major contract with the Reliant Corporation was in 1979. The contract between Pacific Oil and Reliant was a standard one for the industry and due to expire in December of 1982. • 3. Why did Fanon Argue for a Violent Struggle Against... In the second half of the twentieth century, started a process of decolonization, first in Asia and then in Africa. In 1949, India was one of the first country to gain its independence, followed by Burma, Malaysia, and Ceylon. In Africa the decolonization started a few years later, first in Libya and Egypt, and in the rest of the continent afterwards. The main colonists were the Great Britain and France. The history has shown that Great Britain succeeded to decolonize generally in peace while France had much more problems to give up its colonies, which led to numerous conflicts opposing the colonists and the colonized. It has been the case especially in Algeria where a murderous war lasted almost eight years. The philosopher Frantz Fanon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1945 Fanon moved to France and settled in Lyon. Fanon studied medicine as well as philosophy, literature and psychology. He became a doctor in a psychiatric hospital in France and then in Algeria, where he moved in 1953. With the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution in 1954 he started studying the Algerian situation and joined the National Liberation Front, in favour for the Algerian Independence. In 1957, he was expelled by the colonial authorities and joined the provisional government of the Algerian Republic in Tunis. Fanon wrote about colonialism and he praised the use of violence against colonists in his book The Wretched of the Earth, which was published the same year he died of leukaemia, in 1961, and two years before the independence of Algeria (Alice Cherki, 2000). So Fanon s life has been quite short but rather rich in events. Although he was mixed race, Fanon has experienced racism when he arrived in France. Thus it is not surprising that he identified to the Algerian people who were colonized by the French, and more generally to all colonized and oppressed populations. But the paradox, as Henri Louis Gates underlines it, is that Algerian people themselves considered him as a European Interloper and did not recognised his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Amos And A Sinful World Amos and a Sinful World Throughout Israel s history, they have been oppressed by many of the larger powers in the areas they are in. Take the Israelites interactions with the Egyptians, for example. Generations after Joseph s death, the Egyptians forgot the reasons why the Israelites were in Egypt in the first place. They took advantage of the large population of the Israelites, oppressing them by forcing them to do manual labor for Pharaoh and implementing a blanket infanticide of their sons to keep the population from growing too large. God then delivered the Israelites from Egypt through the God directed work of Moses, gradually drawing them closer to Him as He provided for them and showed them His love. This intimate relationship with God is the trademark of a period of prosperity for the Israelites as long as they relied on God. However, once the Israelites become distracted and wandered away spiritually, they consistently saw periods of defeat in battle and oppression by outside sources that consistently end once they return to God and His ways again. It is not until Israel rejects God as their king and puts a human in His place, when Israel sees oppression from both outside and inside sources. The outside sources come from the surrounding peoples, like the Philistines, the Moabites, the Edomites, and so on. The inside oppression, however, stems from the Israelites themselves. This is where Amos, a prophet of God, comes in. Amos is alive after the time of the unified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Synthesis Of Aspirin Lab Report Experiment 19: Synthesis of Aspirin and Oil of Wintergreen The purpose of this experiment was to employ techniques to synthesize aspirin and oil of wintergreen and to purify crude aspirin via recrystallization. Additionally, techniques were learned to determine the purity of the synthesized organic molecule of acetylsalicylic acid using a back titration method. The objectives of the experiment were achieved by synthesizing the organic molecules of acetylsalicylic acid (using salicylic acid and acetic anhydride), and methyl salicylate (using salicylic acid and methanol). FeCl3 was added to each synthesized product to test for the presence of a hydroxyl group ( OH). FeCl3 reacts with a hydroxyl group to form a brightly coloured magenta ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both salicylic acid and methyl salicylate are phenols containing a hydroxyl group that reacts with the metal ions of FeCl3 to produce a brightly coloured magenta complex. The crude aspirin sample reacted with FeCl3 to produce a translucent purple solution. Salicylic acid was tested as well and reacted with FeCl3 to produce a dark purple opaque solution. Thus it was determined that the crude aspirin sample did contain unreacted salicylic acid/acetic acid. The crude sample of aspirin was then purified using water to remove unreacted acetic acid and then a recrystallization method to remove unreacted salicylic acid. The crude product was dissolved in a warm solvent (95% ethanol) and then allowed to cool to room temperature. Due to the differences in solubility of salicylic acid and aspirin this method allowed for the isolation of aspirin as it crystallized out of solution. Of the 1.322 g of crude aspirin, 0.684 g were recovered after the solution underwent the recrystallization process resulting in a percent recovered of 51.74%. The melting point was determined for both the crude and purified aspirin samples. The crude aspirin sample produced a melting range of 90˚ 101˚celsius and the purified aspirin sample produced a melting of 117˚ 132˚celsius. It is also a dynamic development process with inner contradictions and a dual nature. Although it provides a rare historic opportunity for many countries to develop, it also creates differences, competition and conflicts of interest. Globalization s contradictions and dual nature also exert a complicated influence on contemporary international relations. While globalization deepens mutual dependence and further promotes this era s trend toward peace and development, its nature of imbalance has led to the rise of power politics in the same period, complicating the process of multipolarization. The acceleration of globalization has continually deepened mutual dependence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1999, the developed countries, whose populations account for only 20 percent of the world total, possess 80 percent of the global GDP and 81.2 percent of the total volume of world trade. The political and economic strength of a vast number of developing countries has weakened relatively rather than strengthened within a certain period. Hegemonism and power politics will intensify for a considerable period of time and new interventionism will likely run wild. The imbalance in the globalization process means that the multipolarization of international politics will follow a long and tortuous road. In the process of globalization, a vast number of developing countries are faced with more and more challenges on the issue of national sovereignty. Effectively safeguarding national economic security has become a new task for these countries. In the process of globalization, different countries have different circumstances and standing. One way is permanent magnets, which is the easiest of all the forms because it does not require any outside material to make the levitation, but it is not very controllable. Magnetism is the main component in the levitation act. Magnetism has been around ever since Earth was created. It is the force that is generated by the motion of electrons within its atoms. Earth spins and has gravity because of magnetism. It is created within the processes inside of earth, the core. It is good to consider an organization as a system because a system links inputs and outputs and the flow of information from one point to the other. Organizations also focus on cross functional teams and it is a combination of complex resources. Organizations have a need which is defined and goals to reach their mission. People work as entities and they are a part of the organization. The work of Porter is significant in the emphasis of the business process. He says value chain is a comprehensive collection of all the activities that are performed to design, produce, and market, deliver, and support a product line (Porter, 1985). When we combine the concept of the value chain and system to the organization we understand that organizations span across functional departments like finance, marketing, sales, and support etc. Organizations implementing BPM Systems One of the influential factors on implementation success that emerges from research, trade literature and practice is the level of process orientation within an organization. (Parkes, 2002). Typical advantages of implementing a BPM system in an organization are reduced lead times, fewer hand off errors, and more flexibility to change the structure of supported business processes. (Parkes, 2002). In the research community, there is some consensus that the essence of a BPMS is the functionality that has been attributed historically to a workflow management system. (WfMS). The reason of this disorder discovered is the repressed bitter experiences of the past. That saying was constantly being stated around the house when my brother or I would want to achieve a certain goal in school, sports or anything. This saying has transformed me over the years into the hard worker that I am to this day. Throughout my life coaches, family, and teachers regularly told me to work hard and give 100% effort no matter what and I will succeed. The characteristic of hard working and constantly giving outstanding effort describes me as a person immensely because I consistently strive to achieve my goals. Ever since the age of ten, my Mother told me do chores if I wanted extra money in order to buy anything my little ten year old heart desired. She composed a chore list and pinned it to the fridge for me to earn a little money, but only if I did the task the best I could. Although somehow my Mother can always tell when my brother or I aren t giving our full potential. How? I am still unsure to this day, but we never wanted the repercussions that came if one of us got caught slacking. Despite giving 100% effort and completing the chores the best I could for money seemed great, I happened to have what seemed to be a mile long chore list. Overtime out of all my chores, I realized that my main income from ages ten to fourteen involved scooping up the dog poop in our backyard for a dollar per pile. Despite the gross appeal, picked up the dog s poop happened to become a steady income rapidly. Everyday after school I made sure the yard was spotless so I could earn my money. As years went on, I stopped getting paid to do household chores and they quickly became an expectation since I live there. With no longer getting paid to do chores I would soon have to get a job. Eventually I got a job, it was this past summer, I helped bail hay for my uncle and helping out on his farm when needed. I made sure I was constantly giving a 100% effort to get that job done because that s what my Mother taught me to do. Since I was consistently hard working, he knew he could rely on me. Hausman test Hausman test which usually accepted method of selecting between random and fixed effects which is running on regression equation. Hausman (1978) provided a tectonic change in interpretation related to the specification of econometric models. The seminal insight that one could compare two models which were both consistent under the null spawned a test which was both simple and powerful. The so called Hausman test has been applied and extended theoretically in a variety of econometric domains. We focus on the construction of the Hausman test in a variety of panel data settings, and in particular, the recent adaptation of the Hausman test to semi parametric and nonparametric panel data models. A formal application of the Hausman test is given focusing on testing between fixed and random effects within a panel data model. Mostly fixed effects are accepted way to run with panel data as they always present consistent outcomes but may not be the most effective way to implement. On the other hand, random effects usually provide to the researcher better P values as it considered to be a more active estimator, so researcher can study random effects if it is reasonable to do so. Moreover, Hausman test choose a more effective model compared to a less efficient as consistent model should presents robust estimates and consistent results owing to the more efficient model. It is said in the book of Genesis (48:22) I m giving you one more mountain ridge than your brothers. I took it from the Amorites with my own sword and bow. Commentators say that my own sword means my own prayer and that my bow means my request . The sword s power is from its own sharpness, the bow s power depends on the archer; therefore, the more the archer pulls, the higher the arrow will fly. As for our prayers: we have prayers that are like sword they are the ones that our sages taught us, and they are very powerful and holy. However, we have the right to express our heart s desires, and if we earnestly and whole heartedly express them then they can be very powerful. Nine political philosophers advocated their views on the best form of government. They have reached a consensus. The most focal being Thomas Hobbes views on the relationship of the governed and the authority, King Louis s stance on an absolute ruler, and William Laud s premise of religious applications in government. Therefore, the best form of government is one of an absolute sovereign. Thomas Hobbes promoted despotism in which the common man is, by all means, submissive to the unquestionable decision maker. For instance, he claims that men are selfish in their natural state. Hobbes emphasizes that The condition of man... is a condition of war of everyone against everyone. This freedom spurs chaos and insecurity. This leads us to his Social Contract theory. Hobbes argues that people should surrender their rights that limit another s to the governing body in exchange for security. In other words, since men are inherently driven to act by their wants, a tacit agreement between men and the monarch is made to shield them from their wickedness. • 37. Storage Of The Packet Filtering Essay 1) According to Bergstra and Burgess (2007), static packet filers have a complex network layer. They only examine one packet at any given time. They also block SNY scans over the network. By only considering one packet at a given time, stateless packet filtering does not stop major attacks determined by knowing the position of the packet in a given stream of traffic. There is no context applied to the packet during transmission. For instance, stateless packet filtering cannot protect against denial of service (Do S) attack as it only examines the individual packets, instead of determining the connection state alongside the related and or unrelated packets. 2) Hinglaspure and Burghate (2014) indicates that since static filers do not preserve the results after examining the packets, they are unable to relate the current and already examined packets. By only examining some fields of the Internet and Transport headers, static packet filtering cannot stop the attacks using other packet portions. Hackers are able to fool static firewalls easily because they are not smart enough. For instance, the filters may not examine attacks that use data field of the application messages, making the system more disposed to to the external attack. 2) Application proxy severs safeguard the internal clients from some mischievous external servers. They force all client connections to pass through the proxy that in turn examines the application content of all packets during transmission. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Blurry Lines And Laws Of Dna Fingerprinting The Blurry Lines and Laws of DNA Fingerprinting Crime solving has come a long way since the P.I days, and with the extreme advances in biology and the sciences, forensics has integrated itself into criminology with a fervor. Starting around the 1980 s Scientist Sir Alec Jeffreys and his team first derived the process of DNA fingerprinting and realized the incredible tool they had at their disposal for anything from paternity testing to DNA evidence comparison at crime scenes. After Jeffreys DNA fingerprinting was used to put away a dangerous criminal with matched evidence, the process evolved using the technology of Poly Chain Reaction (PCR) and Gel Electrophoresis (The history of genetic fingerprinting). With this relatively easy system of DNA fingerprinting and the very small amount of easily collected DNA that can be used to develop a fingerprint, criminal convictions using DNA evidence and fingerprinting has become an integral part of crime scene investigations. And it was with this increase in dependence upon DNA to solve crimes that the government began to institute more laws surrounding the collection of DNA from individuals facing arrest, convicted or otherwise. While DNA exoneration has come a long way in terms of technological advancements and uses, there is questionability as to what the government is utilizing in requiring mandatory DNA sampling and the further implications upon human rights as DNA becomes a staple of most criminal conviction cases. Second, is when Juror 8 pulls out a knife exactly like the murder weapon that the boy allegedly used. The other jurors believe that since the knife is so rare and that the shop owner of the shop the knife was bought from said that he only had one in stock that must mean that the boy killed his father. Third, Juror calls for a secret ballot vote in order to see if they actually think the boy is guilty without the chance for ridicule by the other juror. Fourth, they go through an actual demonstration of how the switchblade knife would wound the father showing that it would have to be a taller man stabbing down and in to make such a wound.
