Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

• Flickr – Web site that caters to the hosting of images. An API is created to
enable a Web site developer to embed or use images on Flickr.
• Twitter – social networking service that enables users to send and read
short messages with 280 characters called tweets. Twitter APIs are used
by developers to embed Twitter functions in developing Web sites.
5. • Facebook – Facebook APIs are used to connect an individual’s wall
or an organization’s Facebook account so that the audience and
users can easily access Facebook services connected to Facebook
account.
• Google Maps – Google Maps APIs are used to indicate a location
of an establishment described on a Web site. It also enables
developers to display an accurate map depicting the satellite views
or the actual appearance of roads & buildings in particular area.
6. Purpose – or the goal it aims to fulfill.
Communication – primary objective is to absorb as much valuable information
as possible in the shortest amount of time.
Typefaces – considered the most dominant and noticeable in terms of visuals.
It deals with text format, text style and text.
Colors – can introduce a mood or make the web site lively and enticing for
viewers.
Images – choosing the correct images can connect the Web site to viewers or
the audience effectively.
7. Navigation – refers to the facility that the audience can use to go through the Web
site and its subpages.
Layouts – refers to the physical arrangement of the content and elements on a
Web site.
Grid – will enable the user to create sections/groups of related information.
F-pattern – can be capitalized by placing more information at the top
& left part of the screen.
Mobile – web site’s content should be accessible for both mobile & computer.
8. • Load time – another basis for the success of a web site is
the time that the Web site will load or appear onto the
viewers’ display device.

It is an application that is used to create a Web site either online
or offline. This type of application uses the capability of directly
handling the components of the Web site.
10. 1) Adobe Dreamweaver – this is an offline proprietary Web development tool
offered by Adobe Systems. This tool presents a wide range of tools for the drag-
and-drop option.
2) Amaya – is an open source Web site development tool used to update
documents directly on a running Web site. Amaya also enables continuous
browsing and editing of a Web site.
3) Microsoft Expression Web – this is a propriety Web site development tool
created by Microsoft.
4) IM Creator – this is a Web site that caters to both experienced and
inexperienced users, and to creators of Web sites and Web pages.
5) Wix – is another Web site that offers its users to create their own Web site.
11. o Prezi – is a cloud-based application dedicated to help you create a presentation. It also
offers its offline version that can be installed on a desktop computer. The software adapts the
storytelling type of presentation.
o SlideShare – this is considered as one of the earliest forms of online presentation media.
This application started in Web 2.0. The primary function of this Web site is to provide a facility
for uploading and sharing presentation files.
o Mind Meister – this is an online collaborative tool in which different individuals can share
ideas on a common scratchpad-like workspace. The ideas are placed visually by different users
to form a concept.
12. o Cloud storage – is a service wherein files from users are stored online. The files are
uploaded by users and are received by a storage server that hosts the service.

o Google Drive - This is a storage application developed by Google. It provides tool such
as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation slides, and other common files types for
collaboration and storing.
o Dropbox – This is a file hosting and storage service developed by Dropbox, Inc. It offers a
facility to synchronize and create folders for file organization.
o Evernote – This is an online note – taking and archiving application service. The notes
reated by the users can be archived or save in the application’s storage.
13. Web mapping applications are Web sites developed from geographical information
systems’ (GIS) data. Mapping applications use GIS to create a graphical and illustrative
representation to easily visualize maps.

o Wikimapia – This is collaborative open content mapping application. Wikimapia offers
