Purpose; The antioxidant properties of Capparis spinosa honey and propolis and the effect of
combined honey and propolis administration on urine volume and electrolytes were studied in rats.
Material and methods; Capparis spinosa honey (1g/kg.b.wt), propolis (100 mg/kg.b.wt),
honey/propolis mixture (100 mg/1g/kg.b.wt), distilled water (1 ml/kg.b.wt) and furosemide (10
mg/kg.b.wt) were orally administered to five groups of rats for 21 days. Urine volume, blood and
urine sodium, potassium and chloride were measured. The antioxidant activity of propolis and the
honey was assessed and their total phenols and flavonoids were determined.
Results; Propolis and Capparis spinosa honey contain polyphenols including flavonoids and propolis
demonstrated higher antioxidant activities than honey. Honey significantly increased urine volume and
urine electrolyte excretion. Propolis has no significant effect on urine volume but co administration of
propolis and honey caused significant diuresis. No major changes were observed in plasma
electrolytes with use of honey, propolis or their combination.
Conclusion; Honey and propolis have antioxidant activity and contain polyphenols including
flavonoids that were more pronounced in propolis. Honey has a significant diuretic activity alone or in
combination with propolis. This is the first study comparing the diuretic effect of co administration of
propolis and Capparis spinosa honey with furosemide.

39th St and the phone number is 910 791 1057. The writer was supervised by Lauren Clark, Program
Supervisor and Callie Capps, Children s Programs Facilitator and Group Leader. Lauren is in charge
of the Strengthening Families Program for parents of children ages six to eleven. The program is held
at Snipes Academy of the Arts. The writer assists the CAPP staff at the Strengthening Families
Program from 2:00 6:30pm every Monday afternoon. The writer has volunteered on Monday October
14th, Monday October 21st, Monday October 26th and Monday November 4th and plans to continue
until the program is over. Each week the writer observed a new clients attending the program. The
program begins with a family meal before the parents attend an hour session with each other talking
about goals they need to meet with their children. For the last hour of the program, the parents and
children to practice skills and do family projects. The writer thinks the CAPP program is a helpful way

Negative ambition fills the minds of many people across the world. However, we are going to look at
a specific example from the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The main character from this play
is Macbeth who is struggling with an ambition to become the king of Scotland. This paper will

are using their ambition at the cost of others. They are using their ambition for gain while taking from

On the morning of June 22, 1941, three German army groups, consisting of over three million
soldiers, 150 divisions, and three thousand tanks, attacked across the frontier into Soviet territory. The
front covered nearly two thousand miles and took the Red Army almost entirely by surprise. Adolf
Hitler titled the invasion Operation Barbarossa , and it was the critical turning point of the Second
World War. The goal of Hitler s Directive Number 21 was to destroy the Red Army s fighting
capabilities in the West, create a buffer that denied the Russian Airforce the ability to attack territory
of the German Reich, establish a general line along the Volga River to Archangel, and ultimately
