The History of African American Slavery
The History of African American Slavery Tongela Vaughan Axia College of University of Phoenix
The History of African American Slavery A slave is someone who is owned by another human. They
do as they are told to do by their owners. African Americans had an unfair start in America, by being
captured and brought over from Africa to be slaves. Do you know how slaves were treated? The
conditions and treatment of slaves were different fromthe average American. Do you know how
slavery came to an end? The slaves receivedtheir freedom in different types of ways. Before long,
slavery was ended and they were set free to live their lives according to their own choice. For the
African Americans brought to America as indentured servants, ... Show more content on

Once they saved enough money, they were able to buy their freedom Finally, slaves were able to see
the light at the other end of the long tunnel of harsh treatment on the plantations. Slavery ultimately
ended in the United States following Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, which
freed slaves that were rebelling against the federal government. In 1865, slavery was abolished.
Thanks to President Abraham Lincoln, the slaves were finally a free race. There was one thing that
helped to keep the slaves believing that they would receive their freedom, and that they will see better
days ahead. That was there firm belief in god. They would hold church, or what they would call
religious revivals, out in a field. Having that belief kept them strong and held the families together that
was not traded or auctioned off. Slave owners initially resisted evangelicals preaching to their bond
people, but as the revival movement spread, a few came to consider it their Christian duty to teach
their slaves about the bible. Converting their original religions to Christianity became part of
accepting America as home. {draw:frame} This article advertises the trading or selling of African

Analysis of Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman was a hit nearly from its debut, and its importance to
American literature and theater has not diminished in the over half a century since its first
performance in 1949. However, the specific areas of the play that have most intrigued critics have
changed over time, as different historical, social, and literary concerns lead critics to come up with
different interpretations. By analyzing three different critical responses to Death of a Salesman, it will
be possible to not only understand the play better, but also actually see how the reception of the play
has changed as society s standards of criticism and discourse changed over the intervening years. One
is able to see how shifting views on patriarchy lead to a change in the play s reception, and
particularly the characterization of Willy Loman, who transforms from a tragic, albeit flawed man into
the contemptible lackey of a patriarchal, capitalist society that has little regard for human health or
happiness. The first critical response to Death of a Salesman considered here actually comes from
1949, just as the play was first debuting on Broadway. The first reviews of the play were almost
unanimously positive, and February, 1949, review in the Los Angeles Times is indicative of the
praises it received at the time. The Times review, like most popular reviews, does not bother with
literary theory, but rather focuses solely on the plot and reviewing the constituent elements of the

Military Tactics Of The Revolutionary War
This chapter discusses the tactics to support a strong army and navy implementing new advanced
weapons to aim the independence of every country. War is a conflict of the armed forces, military and
political aspects towards its enemy. The great victory of modernity and the start of new democracy
and warfare proved the connection of the military services and political rights which helped discover
conflicts and fixed our understanding of the political dimension.
In 1775, Britain was the strongest empire for exerting great power in force projection and had the
largest navy, which became the network of bases around the North Atlantic and rested politically
stable without a financial crisis. But American Colonies rejected the British monarchy and aristocracy
where the political battle took place called The American Revolution. The battlefield tactics were
modified with new weapons and introduced the linear tactics, fighting in long lines, deployed infantry
in close packed and used concentrated musket fire with bayonets to get the opponents off the
battlefield. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The VTX works like the pump pushing waves of electricity through the antenna. Without an antenna,
there s nowhere for the waves to go, so they bounce back, creating greater and greater wave harmonics
that overload the amplifier of the VTX. With so much current flowing through, the circuit heats up.
Eventually, this much current can create so much heat that the chemical bonds in the copper vaporize,
blowing the VTX and creating an open circuit that stops energy flow throughout the PCB.

Research Paper On Neephropathy
What is Nephropathy?
Nephropathy is a broad medical used to denote disease or damage of the kidney, which can eventually
result in kidney failure. The primary and most obvious function of the kidney are to excrete any waste
products and to regulate the water and acid base balance of the body.
Neprhopathy is considered a progressive illness; in other words, as kidneys become less and less
effective over time (as disease progresses), the condition of the patient gets worse if left untreated.
Due to that fact, it is pivotal to receive adequate diagnosis and treatment as early as possible.
Diabetic nephropathy
Diabetic nephropathy is considered a major microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus that
affects approximately one third of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, no available treatment has been able to halt the progression to end stage renal failure,
thus new therapeutic modalities to manage diabetic nephropathy are needed.
IgA nephropathy
Since its initial description in 1968, IgA nephropathy remains the most common form of primary
glomerulonephritis that can lead to chronic kidney disease. This condition is very commonly observed
in Southern Europe, Australia and Asia, in Northern climates of the Western World the incidence is
approximately 5 10% of biopsies for glomerulonephritis.
The diagnostic hallmark of the disease is the deposition of IgA antibodies in the glomerule, alone or
together with IgM or IgG antibodies. Activation of innate immune response and complement, as well
as the formation of immune complexes play a significant role in clinical presentation and severity of
the IgA nephropathy.
As there is no pathognomonic clinical presentation (although young males with macroscopic
hematuria followin g an upper respiratory tract infection are highly suspicious for the disease), the
diagnosis necessitates renal biopsy. Currently available therapy options are directed towards
inflammatory and immune events that can result in renal

The Shavian Theatre of Ideas (Modern Drama)
THE SHAVIAN THEATRE OF IDEAS (MODERN DRAMA) The predominating influence in
determining Shaw to turn to the drama was the example of Ibsen and equally prominent was his love
of debating, in which he had shown how irresistible it was for him to counter his arguments himself if
no one else would. These influential strains compelled him to choose the kind of play in which the
characters undertake this dual task of proposer and opposer. In 1892, he made it into Widower s
Houses, and thereafter, for nearly sixty years with unflagging energy he made drama peculiarly his
own province. It was not till after Saint Joan that he became the revered elder playwright, a highly
respectable figure whom, however, the dramatic critics did not cease to ... Show more content on

When he had thus fulfilled his great wish to express his fundamental religious faith as a Creative
Evolutionist, Shaw returned in Saint Joan to a drama of his normal scope and manner. Its heroine,
portrayed as a sane and shrewd country girl of extraordinary strength of min and hardihood of body...a
thorough daughter of the soil in her peasantlike matter of factness and doggedness , she was however,
in her creator s mind an instrument like himself of the Life force. In The Apple Cart, he turned again
to the future and to the dismay of those who had regarded him as an advanced advocate of democracy
showed that the highest ability could be found as well in a king as in a peasant. His brilliance was
undiminished and to the end his extraordinary vitality of mind animated all he wrote. Shaw s ideas can
never cease to form an important part of his dramatic legacy, any more than we can appreciate
Shakespeare without reference to the view of life which lies behind his work. Nevertheless, it is as
dramatist upon the stage that Shaw demands primary consideration. In his own day, Shaw s command
over audiences which by no means consisted only of those who shared his ideas was an obvious fact.
His wit was always subservient to the total working of the genius of the comic playwright. His
dramatic instinct, indeed, was altogether transcendent and so willfully fashioned its own play that the
audience almost forgot in its delight the

Red Meat Consumption
Reducing Red Meat Consumption
Environmental actions are not solely intended for large organizations with the power to advance
change because an average person could get involved by authorizing a lifestyle adjustment to
everyday life. Lifestyle adjustments presented by each individual could be the potential solution to
environmental problems that are damaging the entirety of the ecosystem. One of the environmental
actions that everyday people can easily initiate is a food based lifestyle adjustment. However, altering
a consistent diet could be both beneficial to the environment, yet detrimental to the individual. For
example, reducing the food intake of red meat from a routine allows the ingestion of more green
groceries, but confiscates enjoyable food from an individual. So, in order to make the lessening of red
meat consumption more painless throughout the two day trial, five steps ... Show more content on

Consuming less meat helped me lose weight, gain a livelier complexion, and decrease my risk of heart
disease since it runs in my family. Therefore, focusing on the individual as the source of
environmentally beneficial social change is more useful because a large organization misuses power to
get ahead monetarily, instead of profiting from environmental actions. The individual not only values
their treatment of power, but utilizes it to point out environmental concerns such as obesity. So, by
starting to eliminate all processed meats to eventually put an end to all red meat would reduce obesity
and construct a healthier society that will encourage change. In order to turn the reduction of red meat
consumption feasible over the long term, all individuals must gain the knowledge to make the choice
to have a healthier lifestyle by recognizing that eating less meat will put both the environment and
their bodies in good

Pinky The Dolphin Research Paper
Pinky the Dolphin
Pinky is a bottlenose dolphin. It is completely normal, except for the fact that it s pink. The social
media has been going crazy since Pinky s last sighting on September 9th, 2015. Pinky isn t the first
pink dolphin, and probably won t be the last. Nevertheless, it is a rare type, and scarcity creates value,
or in Pinky s case, fame.
Pinky was first sighted in June 2007 in Louisiana waters as a dolphin calf following its mother. This
time, it has been accompanied by another grey bottlenose dolphin. This means that they are mating,
and leads to the speculation that Pinky is a female. Because its colour is so rare, Pinky and its mate s

Some people claim that it has a rare genetic disorder, and not albinism. That isn t proved. Others say
that it is an Amazon River Dolphin, but its skin is smooth and splotch free, unlike the Amazon River
Dolphin. Albinism is rare in animals, but possible. It occurs when the cells responsible of making the
pigment melanin fail to produce enough, or at all. This is usually because of a deformation in a
gene(s). Pinky s dolphin might have both been normal, gray bottlenose dolphins, but each carrying a
gene with this deformation, and that probably led to Pinky s unusual colour. This isn t the first time an
albino dolphin was sighted. Carolina Snowball was a popular albino bottlenose dolphin displayed at
the Miami Seaquarium in the early 1960 s. During the summer of 1994 in Little Lake near New
Orleans, Louisiana an all white dolphin was spotted in a group of 4 5 individuals, but was only seen
for 20 to 30 minutes and never seen again. Another all white dolphin calf was first observed in a group
of more than 40 dolphins south of Galveston, Texas in September 2003. Albinism in marine animals is
extremely rare; there have been only 14 recorded sightings of albino bottlenose dolphins since

things can have many bad effects on your body like sexual and hormonal disorders, temporary

estimated that about 3.5 million Americans have taken steroids and a small percentage of teenagers
tried it at some point in their lives. There are many more drugs to be afraid of. Pain relievers are just

Alan Wardle s Discourse Community Analysis
When one has authority in a discourse community they need to know how to use it appropriately. In
Wardle s reading she gives an example of this about a guy named Alan joining a discourse community
within his workplace. As we know, Alan was a computer support specialist in the humanities
department, who was young and just out of college. Alan left his first job because he thought that he
was not granted any responsibility (291). He then found another job within the university working on
computers. Right off the start Alan was making decisions as being the only computer specialist within
the start of his new position. As Wardle states, Alan did not have to necessarily prove his knowledge
like most people who start a job (292). The first mistake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the discourse community he was apart of all of them had a highly literate, hyper aware language
users, who valued professional, grammatically correct, Standard English in written communication
(Wardle 295). Another one of Swales points in his criteria is that a discourse community has some sort
of lexis, meaning a language specific to that discourse community (Swales 222). Alan s form of
communication to his community was email, however, his co workers were older than him and saw
the way he would write his emails as informal and inappropriate (Wardle 294). Alan did not adapt to
the change and even resisted from changing his ways of composing emails. Alan believed since he had
authority they would adapt to his style. As a result he was not able to communicate with his
community, which is necessary for a discourse community to function. With Alan choosing not to
participate it resulted in disturbances and breakdowns in work processes (Hasu and Engestrom 65)
(Wardle295). As we can tell from Wardle s story about Alan and Swales criteria for a discourse
community, it might not be always difficult to obtain authority but is difficult to use that authority
within your discourse

In the final scene of the film, Juan faces his inexorable death at the horns of a bull. The ending
represents a return home, both in terms of character and color scheme. Immediately prior to his final
fight, Juan announced his plans to retire: a certain kiss of death. Though his retirement is an active
choice, it is also a surrender to the wishes of his loved ones. This dichotomy of control and surrender
is the logical and inevitable endpoint of Juan s character arc. The control of color is manifested in his
choice to wear a white suit, with no doubt about his desire to draw attention. However, by confidently

INTRODUCTION:
The creation of fair, organized and functional community has been a mayor focus for most civilized

and delicate role in the constant process of making society .
Differences are integral parts of our lives, which determine personal uniqueness and help to

As a migrant, I can relate to the experience expressed by the owner of Xquisite Africa , the need of

The street identity is constantly shaped by historical changes, the presence of migrants that live and

Rickmansworth Road, the street where I reside, in many ways is similar to City Road, their

Being aware of the relations between people, objects and infrastructure is also a way to recognise
differences. Roads, vehicles and signs operate a specific function within society, although the use of
these separate entities seem obvious, sometimes the purpose of who use them is different , and the
possible interaction between opposite points of view may result in a collision of interests.

MELANIE MARTINEZ Finding someone to look up to is hard. They do something to make you mad
or they just seem to fade away as someone else comes along. I have seemed to find mine only five
months ago. Her name is Melanie Martinez, artist, singer and songwriter. The reason why I have
picked her, is because she unorthodox, insane and outgoing. After reading you will see my reasons
more than sane. Being Melanie Martinez requires you to be out of the ordinary, she is any but normal.
Her facial expressions and personality bring a new vibe. Her hair is a mix but, never one color. She
turns old songs and turns them to a new version. She s creative and impossibly unpredictable. I would
like say that I am sane. Normal would be anything but, Melanie.

International Organizations And The United Nations
International organizations create agreements by considering all member states and giving each
member state a voice. Constitutional order has three main parts: it has to be binding, it has to be a
shared agreement, and there are constrains on every member. Contemporary international
organizations reflect a constitutional order because the agreements they make are mutual and followed
by all members.
The United Nations is a global organization that works to help governments solve problems by finding
agreements. It was founded in 1945 on the idea of promoting peace and human rights. There are 193
member states of the United Nations today that all help to work towards the common goal of
eliminating issues of humanity. The UN makes decisions through the General Assembly, Security
Council, Economic and Social Council, and more. The General Assembly is the only UN body that
represents all member states. Each year a general debate is held where questions on security, peace,
admission of new members, etc. are discussed to come to a solution or agreement. More complex
situations such as questions on, peace and security, admission of new members and budget
specificities must be a two thirds majority vote to pass, but simpler questions pass by simple majority.
The UN gives each member state a vote because of the universal representation that the General
Assembly provides. Therefore, the topics voted on are a shared agreement as each of the member
states understands that

Monopoly Of The United States Postal
MONOPOLY OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SEVICE
There are few remaining monopolies today. Apple and Wal Mart are both world renowned
monopolies. Another monopoly is the United States Postal Service. The United States Postal Service
is a natural monopoly in the delivery of first class mail, as 1970 s legislation prevents any other firms
from delivering letter mail. The reason for this was to allow one firm to specialize in mail delivery;
therefore being the most efficient way to ensure the rest of the country received their mail on time.
After all, receiving mail in a timely manner is critical for society to function. Imagine if everyone
received their bills and letters weeks late? However, the USPS has begun to face a dilemma in recent
years, in that it is seeing a sharp decline in revenue. Critics have called for several methods to help the
USPS cut its losses, one of which being privatization. Since a monopoly is the only seller of a good in
the market, the demand curve is the market demand curve. Therefore a monopoly has a downward
sloping demand curve, in contrast to the horizontal sloping demand curve of a firm in a competitive
market (Mankiw, 2014). Monopolies aim to find the profit maximizing price for its product. If a firm
is initially producing at a low level of output, marginal revenue exceeds marginal costs (Mankiw,
2014). Every time production increases by one unit, the marginal revenue increases again and is
greater than marginal costs (Mankiw, 2014). Therefore

Regional Pain Syndrome Speech
Hello, I am Lisa Proctor and this is After CRPS (WEBCAST). Today I thought I could talk to you
about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and what I have learned it is. ............. Complex Regional
Pain Syndrome aka The Suicide Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the
following criteria... Pain which is out of proportion to the injury; autonomic dysregulation;
neuropathic edema; movement disorder, as well as atrophy and dystrophy of the muscular
tissue........................ It is most often caused by a fracture, soft tissue injury or surgical procedure.

I fell on the 9th of February in 2012 and without warning went from caregiver to care given. Formally
diagnosed with CRPS in 2015 just before a last ditch effort to allow me some sort of life after
diagnosis I went forward with the implantation of the Spinal Cord Stimulator with the hope that the
device would disrupt the pain signal. Because of its failure to address my pain and which in fact
caused additional pain due to the how the device was installed, I had to find something else to help
me. I wanted more out of life, I expected more out of life. So began my journey of discovery to regain
my independence and a quality of life I once lost. It has taken almost three years now after reading
that the underlying cause of CRPS was an autoimmune related condition to achieve the unexpected by
turning around my prognosis and I ve only just begun. ...... It is because of individuals such as yourself
who are where I was, feeling lost and abandoned by the mainstream medical community who gave life
to After CRPS. It was your overwhelming requests for me to share my discoveries and how I have
been able to regain my independence which encourages me to keep up the fight and for that, I say

The Death Of A Child
The death of a child is experienced with great resistance because it is understood as an interruption in
the life cycle often seen as untimely and unfair. Pediatric nurses care for children in high mortality
environments, such as the pediatric intensive care and oncology units and, as a result, are directly
affected by childhood death (Papadatou, 2000). Caring for a dying child and their family is an
emotionally charged situation (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2000; Catlin and Carter, 2001; Stutts
and Schloemann, 2002). Nurses spend much time caring for their patients but forget to look after
themselves. Caring for the nurse is an often forgotten component of nursing that can affect quality of
care. Exploring the nurse s experience in caring for a dying child will help to identify effective coping
strategies. It has been suggested that effective coping strategies are crucial in prevention of burnout
and damage to overall emotional health (Hinds, Oakes, Hicks, Anghelescu, 2005). The findings of this
project will provide an opportunity to create a broad picture of how nurses cope and behave when
caring for a dying child.
Methodology
A search of the literature was performed in the following databases: CINAHL, the Cochrane Library,
EBSCO, MEDLINE, and PubMed. The subject terms and keywords used included: dying OR terminal
OR end of life; pediatric OR child* OR infant; nurs*; and coping OR stress OR adaptation OR

Complexity Of Airplane Essay
The dream of flight is as old as mankind itself (Leonardo DaVinci, April 14, 1489)however, the
concept of an airplane is only a few centuries old. airplanes are the only vehicle that make traveling
hundreds of miles a task that can be done in just one to two hours. Trucks, boats or even race cars can
t even come close to the speed of the average commercial aircraft. The Complexity of the plane dates
back to many years of researching about the four forces and creating an aerodynamic flight
method(National Aeronautics Space Administration, 2006, Pg. 2). Leonardo DaVinciand the Wright
brothers were just a small few of the first plane pioneers.
The very first step made towards flight was Leonardo DiVinci s Ornithopter . TheOrnithopter was a
self propelled wing suit that attempted to mimic the flight of birds and bats.(Wright Brothers, 1999,
Page 7) DaVinci wanted the device to allow people to propel themselves and allow them to fly. The
problem was that the Ornithopterwas to heavy and could not fly. ... Show more content on

Drag is the force that pulls an airplane backwards. With too much drag an airplane will not be able to
fly forwards. However, with too little drag an airplane will not be able to correctly balance.(NASA,
2015, Pg 17.) Although a plane tries to overcome drag, it actually creates it.(Wright Brothers Int,
2001,) Anything that flies will create drag, the bigger the object the more the drag. To overcome drag,
an airplane is designed to be able to cut through the air.(NASA, 2015, Pg 1.) The best example of this
is in the wings. Wings on a plane tend to have a design that is thin and sharp in the front and gets
thicker as it moves down. Planes also have a very sharp nose(very front tip of the plane) along with a
pointed rudder (the tail of an airplane).(NASA, 2015, Pg. 3)Having all of these pointed parts allows an
airplane tominimise the amount of drag it has, ultimately allowing it to

The Phenomenon Of Stereotypes
The phenomenon of superheroes has been around for many years, and often features many examples
of strength, courage, bravery and power. Their popularity among society has led to many studies in
which academia examines the portrayals of these heroines and the impact that they have through
media on children and society today. Individuals argue that the superheroes lack an equal share of
gender representation and portrayal in texts and are often nonexistent altogether. However, others also
argue that there are exceptions and that constant advocacy and knowledge of gender misrepresentation
and stereotypes among media can account for change. These different arguments can be seen through
a number of pieces including, Sexed Up Starfire Doesn t Sit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Authors, publishers and other academia such as Michelle Lee and Carol A. Stabile, are two examples
of individuals who strongly advocate for the lack of female representation and the overpowering
gender roles among superheroes and heroines today. These women argue that the lessons and body
images portrayed in the phenomena of superheroes are disrespectful and degrading towards women.
Michelle Lee gives a specific example, referencing the reboot of character Starfire from the Teen Titan
series. Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference
to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes
on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the
sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her
daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not
talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). As Lee continues on to
discuss the conversation between herself and her daughter, she notes that the old Starfire, respectfully
dressed and ready to spring into action was a much better superhero and that she s a great role model.
She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s
article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that
the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. This
notion goes to show that the messages of beauty and the body images in these texts can be decoded in
a number of different ways, some of which can teach children positive messages and some of which
can be negative. Lee s daughter is

Pediatric Sarcomas Form A Heterogeneous Group Of...
Pediatric sarcomas form a heterogeneous group of mesenchymal skeletal and extraskeletal
malignancies [1]. Over the last few decades a multimodal treatment approach has improved
dramatically the prognosis for children with localized Ewing sarcomas (EWS) and rhabdomyosarcoma
(RMS) (65 70% event free survival rate) [2, 3]. Though EWS and RMS are considered radiosensitive,
the proportion of patients whose primary tumors are treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT)
alone has steadily declined over the past 30 years [4]. Increased awareness of the late effects of
radiotherapy (particularly second malignancies and growth disturbances) and advances in imaging and
orthopedic surgery has increased the use of surgical management for these tumors [5]. Due to the fact
that complete resection is often difficult or morbid to perform, adjuvant EBRT still plays an important
role in local control (LC) promotion [2, 3]. The challenge of achieving LC with a suitable therapeutic
ratio is especially demanding in the pediatric population and results in a very narrow therapeutic
window in which to balance benefits and late effects. The known detrimental effects of irradiating
large volumes with EBRT, impulsed limited radiation therapy alternatives such us intraoperative
radiation therapy (IORT) as an adapted technical opportunity to be explored in innovative practice [6].
Several collaborative groups are trying to determine the optimal radiation therapy dose and volume
necessary to further

Community College Vs Barnard College Essay
All colleges have great advantages and disadvantages to offer to each future student to better their
education. Students often look into colleges through their websites which is a smart move. 85% of the
time, their websites will reflect on the college. Macomb Community College and Barnard College
have plenty of differences and similarities as to how their websites carry information to their students.
The most notable similarity from each Macomb and Barnard website to me would be the college
scheme both links have. They both have a deep royal blue coloring to their pages. Blue is not only a
color, but it implies trust, reliability and professionalism which is why it appears so frequently in
corporate color schemes, the Police and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The site is very organized for any person to enter the it and find what they are looking for within
seconds. Another thing that caught my eye is right in the middle of the Barnard site, it states The
College, The Students, The Latest from this, it looks like those three topics is the colleges many
focuses which is great. Lastly, each picture on the Barnard website is of a female unlike the Macomb
homepage, having both genders on the website. As you can tell, each college has something to offer.
Macomb has seem to be a school to get a basic education to eventually be in the progress to transfer to
a four year college to evolve. Macomb can be a school for students that want to stay close to home,
want to get there basic education out of the way, students that want to save money and plenty of other
reasons. Barnard seems to be a school to learn everyday skill to use, then learn to input them into your
future career. Barnard can be for girls that want to get a higher education and have the money for it,
love the city einverioment and want to feel empowered by going to an all girl college. Macomb
Community College and Barnard College both are great schools to get a fine education from.
Sometimes you need to look into details, and not just what the school offers to you and your future.

Egyptian Gods and Goddesses

The Egyptian gods were important to the people and there were over 2,000 of them. The more famous
gods like Amun Ra, Mut, Osiris, and Horus had bigger roles than most of the gods but they were
equally as important. Different classes of people would worship different gods, and worshiped them in
different ways. Amun Ra was called The Hidden One. Amun had many names and served several
roles. The different ways to spell his name were Amun Ra, Amen Ra, Amon Re, and Ammon Ra.
There are two parts to this god. Amanuet was the female version of Amun Ra, and Ra was the male
version. Amun Ra s first role was known as Patron Saint of the Ancient Egyptian City of Thebs, which
is where he gained popularity by merging with Ra. His second role was to be King of Upper Egyptian
Gods. He was considered one of the most important Egyptian gods, second to Osiris. Amunet and
Amun both combined to be the kings of gods and goddesses. The Greeks equaled him with Zeus, and
Romans equaled him with Jupiter. His third role was creative power to give life, and he was
responsible for all life on Earth. Amun Ra was first worshiped in ... Show more content on

Egyptians called him Khonsu Who Lives on Hearts. When there was a new moon, he was known as
the Mighty Bull, because he was able to possess absolute power over the spirits which infested earth,

The Alien Formation of Crop Circles Essay example
Since the 1600 s, crop circles have fascinated millions. Originally from the town of Hertfordshire, UK,
the first circle was claimed to be by the Mowing Devil , as found in an English newspaper dated back
to 1678. (Gail) The image in the center of the paper depicts a small, devilish creature with a scythe,
mowing two rectangular, offset circles. Modern circles form themselves in anything that will take
imprint, typically in fields of oats, barley, or corn. (Pringle 5) Since the 1600 s forward, crop circles
have dramatically become more complex. Many people believe that they are works of art, while some
believe they are an act of vandalism. But who, or what, are forming these beautiful patterns? Some say
they are natural, created by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Stewart 52 53) These triple with another abnormality, found in most genuine circles: small,
magnetized iron spheres. Some set in the soil, and some inside of the plant tissue itself. These were
first discovered in 1993 Cherhill, England, in which many of the plants of the formation were coated
with an iron glaze. (Talbott) Photomicrographs provided by the BLT Research Team closely show
such evidence of these iron spheres. Using these abnormalities, Nancy Talbott of The BLT Research
Team conducted a study with M.I.T. Undergraduates assigning them to create a crop circle hoax that
fit all three parameters. Although the resulting crop circle did not consist of any of the abnormalities
Talbott stated, the students did manage to accomplish a surprisingly geometrically accurate formation
modeled after the school s auditorium, Kresge Auditorium. (Talbott) Vandals create hoaxes, but who
creates the real ones? Some believe that the source of crop circles may be from a species indigenous to
earth, such as gnomes, trolls, or fairies, though absolutely no evidence supports this. In a personal
interview with Maja Z. of Croatia, Maja stated that she believes crop formations are created by these
beings, namely the gnomes and fairies, that she calls elders . I think it s like fairytale, she says. She
believes they are sending messages

  • 2. The History of African American Slavery The History of African American Slavery Tongela Vaughan Axia College of University of Phoenix The History of African American Slavery A slave is someone who is owned by another human. They do as they are told to do by their owners. African Americans had an unfair start in America, by being captured and brought over from Africa to be slaves. Do you know how slaves were treated? The conditions and treatment of slaves were different fromthe average American. Do you know how slavery came to an end? The slaves receivedtheir freedom in different types of ways. Before long, slavery was ended and they were set free to live their lives according to their own choice. For the African Americans brought to America as indentured servants, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once they saved enough money, they were able to buy their freedom Finally, slaves were able to see the light at the other end of the long tunnel of harsh treatment on the plantations. Slavery ultimately ended in the United States following Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, which freed slaves that were rebelling against the federal government. In 1865, slavery was abolished. Thanks to President Abraham Lincoln, the slaves were finally a free race. There was one thing that helped to keep the slaves believing that they would receive their freedom, and that they will see better days ahead. That was there firm belief in god. They would hold church, or what they would call religious revivals, out in a field. Having that belief kept them strong and held the families together that was not traded or auctioned off. Slave owners initially resisted evangelicals preaching to their bond people, but as the revival movement spread, a few came to consider it their Christian duty to teach their slaves about the bible. Converting their original religions to Christianity became part of accepting America as home. {draw:frame} This article advertises the trading or selling of African Americans who have been transported by boat to America. • 3. Analysis of Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman was a hit nearly from its debut, and its importance to American literature and theater has not diminished in the over half a century since its first performance in 1949. However, the specific areas of the play that have most intrigued critics have changed over time, as different historical, social, and literary concerns lead critics to come up with different interpretations. By analyzing three different critical responses to Death of a Salesman, it will be possible to not only understand the play better, but also actually see how the reception of the play has changed as society s standards of criticism and discourse changed over the intervening years. One is able to see how shifting views on patriarchy lead to a change in the play s reception, and particularly the characterization of Willy Loman, who transforms from a tragic, albeit flawed man into the contemptible lackey of a patriarchal, capitalist society that has little regard for human health or happiness. The first critical response to Death of a Salesman considered here actually comes from 1949, just as the play was first debuting on Broadway. The first reviews of the play were almost unanimously positive, and February, 1949, review in the Los Angeles Times is indicative of the praises it received at the time. The Times review, like most popular reviews, does not bother with literary theory, but rather focuses solely on the plot and reviewing the constituent elements of the ... • 4. Military Tactics Of The Revolutionary War This chapter discusses the tactics to support a strong army and navy implementing new advanced weapons to aim the independence of every country. War is a conflict of the armed forces, military and political aspects towards its enemy. The great victory of modernity and the start of new democracy and warfare proved the connection of the military services and political rights which helped discover conflicts and fixed our understanding of the political dimension. In 1775, Britain was the strongest empire for exerting great power in force projection and had the largest navy, which became the network of bases around the North Atlantic and rested politically stable without a financial crisis. But American Colonies rejected the British monarchy and aristocracy where the political battle took place called The American Revolution. The battlefield tactics were modified with new weapons and introduced the linear tactics, fighting in long lines, deployed infantry in close packed and used concentrated musket fire with bayonets to get the opponents off the battlefield. ... • 8. Research Paper On Neephropathy What is Nephropathy? Nephropathy is a broad medical used to denote disease or damage of the kidney, which can eventually result in kidney failure. The primary and most obvious function of the kidney are to excrete any waste products and to regulate the water and acid base balance of the body. Neprhopathy is considered a progressive illness; in other words, as kidneys become less and less effective over time (as disease progresses), the condition of the patient gets worse if left untreated. Due to that fact, it is pivotal to receive adequate diagnosis and treatment as early as possible. Diabetic nephropathy Diabetic nephropathy is considered a major microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus that affects approximately one third of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, no available treatment has been able to halt the progression to end stage renal failure, thus new therapeutic modalities to manage diabetic nephropathy are needed. IgA nephropathy Since its initial description in 1968, IgA nephropathy remains the most common form of primary glomerulonephritis that can lead to chronic kidney disease. This condition is very commonly observed in Southern Europe, Australia and Asia, in Northern climates of the Western World the incidence is approximately 5 10% of biopsies for glomerulonephritis. The diagnostic hallmark of the disease is the deposition of IgA antibodies in the glomerule, alone or together with IgM or IgG antibodies. Activation of innate immune response and complement, as well as the formation of immune complexes play a significant role in clinical presentation and severity of the IgA nephropathy. As there is no pathognomonic clinical presentation (although young males with macroscopic hematuria followin g an upper respiratory tract infection are highly suspicious for the disease), the diagnosis necessitates renal biopsy. • 9. The Shavian Theatre of Ideas (Modern Drama) THE SHAVIAN THEATRE OF IDEAS (MODERN DRAMA) The predominating influence in determining Shaw to turn to the drama was the example of Ibsen and equally prominent was his love of debating, in which he had shown how irresistible it was for him to counter his arguments himself if no one else would. These influential strains compelled him to choose the kind of play in which the characters undertake this dual task of proposer and opposer. In 1892, he made it into Widower s Houses, and thereafter, for nearly sixty years with unflagging energy he made drama peculiarly his own province. It was not till after Saint Joan that he became the revered elder playwright, a highly respectable figure whom, however, the dramatic critics did not cease to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he had thus fulfilled his great wish to express his fundamental religious faith as a Creative Evolutionist, Shaw returned in Saint Joan to a drama of his normal scope and manner. Its heroine, portrayed as a sane and shrewd country girl of extraordinary strength of min and hardihood of body...a thorough daughter of the soil in her peasantlike matter of factness and doggedness , she was however, in her creator s mind an instrument like himself of the Life force. In The Apple Cart, he turned again to the future and to the dismay of those who had regarded him as an advanced advocate of democracy showed that the highest ability could be found as well in a king as in a peasant. His brilliance was undiminished and to the end his extraordinary vitality of mind animated all he wrote. Shaw s ideas can never cease to form an important part of his dramatic legacy, any more than we can appreciate Shakespeare without reference to the view of life which lies behind his work. Nevertheless, it is as dramatist upon the stage that Shaw demands primary consideration. In his own day, Shaw s command over audiences which by no means consisted only of those who shared his ideas was an obvious fact. His wit was always subservient to the total working of the genius of the comic playwright. His dramatic instinct, indeed, was altogether transcendent and so willfully fashioned its own play that the audience almost forgot in its delight the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Red Meat Consumption Reducing Red Meat Consumption Environmental actions are not solely intended for large organizations with the power to advance change because an average person could get involved by authorizing a lifestyle adjustment to everyday life. Lifestyle adjustments presented by each individual could be the potential solution to environmental problems that are damaging the entirety of the ecosystem. One of the environmental actions that everyday people can easily initiate is a food based lifestyle adjustment. However, altering a consistent diet could be both beneficial to the environment, yet detrimental to the individual. For example, reducing the food intake of red meat from a routine allows the ingestion of more green groceries, but confiscates enjoyable food from an individual. So, in order to make the lessening of red meat consumption more painless throughout the two day trial, five steps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consuming less meat helped me lose weight, gain a livelier complexion, and decrease my risk of heart disease since it runs in my family. Therefore, focusing on the individual as the source of environmentally beneficial social change is more useful because a large organization misuses power to get ahead monetarily, instead of profiting from environmental actions. The individual not only values their treatment of power, but utilizes it to point out environmental concerns such as obesity. So, by starting to eliminate all processed meats to eventually put an end to all red meat would reduce obesity and construct a healthier society that will encourage change. In order to turn the reduction of red meat consumption feasible over the long term, all individuals must gain the knowledge to make the choice to have a healthier lifestyle by recognizing that eating less meat will put both the environment and their bodies in good ... The social media has been going crazy since Pinky s last sighting on September 9th, 2015. Pinky isn t the first pink dolphin, and probably won t be the last. Nevertheless, it is a rare type, and scarcity creates value, or in Pinky s case, fame. Pinky was first sighted in June 2007 in Louisiana waters as a dolphin calf following its mother. This time, it has been accompanied by another grey bottlenose dolphin. This means that they are mating, and leads to the speculation that Pinky is a female. Because its colour is so rare, Pinky and its mate s descendants have a small chance of having pink dolphin calves. We just have to wait and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people claim that it has a rare genetic disorder, and not albinism. That isn t proved. Others say that it is an Amazon River Dolphin, but its skin is smooth and splotch free, unlike the Amazon River Dolphin. Albinism is rare in animals, but possible. It occurs when the cells responsible of making the pigment melanin fail to produce enough, or at all. This is usually because of a deformation in a gene(s). Pinky s dolphin might have both been normal, gray bottlenose dolphins, but each carrying a gene with this deformation, and that probably led to Pinky s unusual colour. This isn t the first time an albino dolphin was sighted. Carolina Snowball was a popular albino bottlenose dolphin displayed at the Miami Seaquarium in the early 1960 s. During the summer of 1994 in Little Lake near New Orleans, Louisiana an all white dolphin was spotted in a group of 4 5 individuals, but was only seen for 20 to 30 minutes and never seen again. In Wardle s reading she gives an example of this about a guy named Alan joining a discourse community within his workplace. As we know, Alan was a computer support specialist in the humanities department, who was young and just out of college. Alan left his first job because he thought that he was not granted any responsibility (291). He then found another job within the university working on computers. Alan s form of communication to his community was email, however, his co workers were older than him and saw the way he would write his emails as informal and inappropriate (Wardle 294). Alan did not adapt to the change and even resisted from changing his ways of composing emails. Alan believed since he had authority they would adapt to his style. As a result he was not able to communicate with his community, which is necessary for a discourse community to function. With Alan choosing not to participate it resulted in disturbances and breakdowns in work processes (Hasu and Engestrom 65) (Wardle295). Immediately prior to his final fight, Juan announced his plans to retire: a certain kiss of death. Though his retirement is an active choice, it is also a surrender to the wishes of his loved ones. This dichotomy of control and surrender is the logical and inevitable endpoint of Juan s character arc. Constitutional order has three main parts: it has to be binding, it has to be a shared agreement, and there are constrains on every member. Contemporary international organizations reflect a constitutional order because the agreements they make are mutual and followed by all members. The United Nations is a global organization that works to help governments solve problems by finding agreements. It was founded in 1945 on the idea of promoting peace and human rights. There are 193 member states of the United Nations today that all help to work towards the common goal of eliminating issues of humanity. The UN makes decisions through the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council, and more. The General Assembly is the only UN body that represents all member states. Each year a general debate is held where questions on security, peace, admission of new members, etc. are discussed to come to a solution or agreement. More complex situations such as questions on, peace and security, admission of new members and budget specificities must be a two thirds majority vote to pass, but simpler questions pass by simple majority. • 22. Monopoly Of The United States Postal MONOPOLY OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SEVICE There are few remaining monopolies today. Apple and Wal Mart are both world renowned monopolies. Another monopoly is the United States Postal Service. The United States Postal Service is a natural monopoly in the delivery of first class mail, as 1970 s legislation prevents any other firms from delivering letter mail. The reason for this was to allow one firm to specialize in mail delivery; therefore being the most efficient way to ensure the rest of the country received their mail on time. After all, receiving mail in a timely manner is critical for society to function. Imagine if everyone received their bills and letters weeks late? However, the USPS has begun to face a dilemma in recent years, in that it is seeing a sharp decline in revenue. Critics have called for several methods to help the USPS cut its losses, one of which being privatization. Since a monopoly is the only seller of a good in the market, the demand curve is the market demand curve. Therefore a monopoly has a downward sloping demand curve, in contrast to the horizontal sloping demand curve of a firm in a competitive market (Mankiw, 2014). Monopolies aim to find the profit maximizing price for its product. If a firm is initially producing at a low level of output, marginal revenue exceeds marginal costs (Mankiw, 2014). Every time production increases by one unit, the marginal revenue increases again and is greater than marginal costs (Mankiw, 2014). Therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. The Death Of A Child The death of a child is experienced with great resistance because it is understood as an interruption in the life cycle often seen as untimely and unfair. Pediatric nurses care for children in high mortality environments, such as the pediatric intensive care and oncology units and, as a result, are directly affected by childhood death (Papadatou, 2000). Caring for a dying child and their family is an emotionally charged situation (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2000; Catlin and Carter, 2001; Stutts and Schloemann, 2002). Nurses spend much time caring for their patients but forget to look after themselves. Caring for the nurse is an often forgotten component of nursing that can affect quality of care. Exploring the nurse s experience in caring for a dying child will help to identify effective coping strategies. It has been suggested that effective coping strategies are crucial in prevention of burnout and damage to overall emotional health (Hinds, Oakes, Hicks, Anghelescu, 2005). The findings of this project will provide an opportunity to create a broad picture of how nurses cope and behave when caring for a dying child. Complexity Of Airplane Essay The dream of flight is as old as mankind itself (Leonardo DaVinci, April 14, 1489)however, the concept of an airplane is only a few centuries old. airplanes are the only vehicle that make traveling hundreds of miles a task that can be done in just one to two hours. Trucks, boats or even race cars can t even come close to the speed of the average commercial aircraft. The Complexity of the plane dates back to many years of researching about the four forces and creating an aerodynamic flight method(National Aeronautics Space Administration, 2006, Pg. 2). Leonardo DaVinciand the Wright brothers were just a small few of the first plane pioneers. The very first step made towards flight was Leonardo DiVinci s Ornithopter . TheOrnithopter was a self propelled wing suit that attempted to mimic the flight of birds and bats.(Wright Brothers, 1999, Page 7) DaVinci wanted the device to allow people to propel themselves and allow them to fly. Individuals argue that the superheroes lack an equal share of gender representation and portrayal in texts and are often nonexistent altogether. Michelle Lee gives a specific example, referencing the reboot of character Starfire from the Teen Titan series. Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). As Lee continues on to discuss the conversation between herself and her daughter, she notes that the old Starfire, respectfully dressed and ready to spring into action was a much better superhero and that she s a great role model. She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. Over the last few decades a multimodal treatment approach has improved dramatically the prognosis for children with localized Ewing sarcomas (EWS) and rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) (65 70% event free survival rate) [2, 3]. Though EWS and RMS are considered radiosensitive, the proportion of patients whose primary tumors are treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) alone has steadily declined over the past 30 years [4]. Increased awareness of the late effects of radiotherapy (particularly second malignancies and growth disturbances) and advances in imaging and orthopedic surgery has increased the use of surgical management for these tumors [5]. Due to the fact that complete resection is often difficult or morbid to perform, adjuvant EBRT still plays an important role in local control (LC) promotion [2, 3]. The challenge of achieving LC with a suitable therapeutic ratio is especially demanding in the pediatric population and results in a very narrow therapeutic window in which to balance benefits and late effects. The known detrimental effects of irradiating large volumes with EBRT, impulsed limited radiation therapy alternatives such us intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) as an adapted technical opportunity to be explored in innovative practice [6].
