WHAT DOES TOEIC MEAN ?
The TOEIC (Test of English for International
Communication) is a standardized English test oriented
towards professionals and companies.
The TOEIC is actually two separate tests, one which
tests the receptive English skills (reading and listening) and
one which tests the productive English skills (speaking and
writing).
Students can choose to take both TOEIC tests, or just
one of the two, depending on their needs. The structure of
each of the two tests is unique and the scoring is also
different. There are a variety of TOEIC preparation methods
available, from self-study to courses and practice tests.
The assessments and teaching in the TOEIC programme provide a
portfolio of resources to help you evaluate English-communication skills
and help prepare test takers to do their best. The assessments in the
TOEIC programme evaluate individuals' English-communication
proficiency across a range of skill levels.

THE FUNGTION OF TOEIC
1. TOEIC Listening and Reading
The TOEIC Listening and Reading test is a fair and valid of assessment of English-language
listening and reading skills for the workplace. The TOEIC tests are the most widely used around
the world, with 14,000+ organizations across more than 160 countries trusting TOEIC scores to
make decisions for their business, academic institution or government agency.
Through evidence-centered test design, standardized and secured testing procedures, as well as
a rigorous scoring process, ETS ensures that:
• the test delivers reliable and accurate scores decision makers can trust
• test questions are based on real-world workplace situations
• test scores remain fair and comparable across administrations
TOEIC is divided into 3 parts, namely :
2. The TOEIC Speaking and Writing
The TOEIC Speaking and Writing tests are valid assessments
of English-language speaking and writing skills for the workplace.
The TOEIC Speaking and Writing tests can be taken together or
separately. In addition, when taken together with the TOEIC Listening
and Reading test, they complement each other and provide a
reliable measurement of all four English-language communication
skills.
3. TOEIC Bridge
Designed for beginning learners, the TOEIC Bridge test measures the
listening and reading comprehension skills used in an international
environment. The test provides reliable, valid and consistent test results to
assess English-language proficiency. Business organizations, academic
institutions and training programs within corporations can use TOEIC Bridge test
results to help:
• place students at appropriate English-language program levels
• highlight English-language instruction areas that need improvement
• motivate learners to improve their English-language skills
• measure program and curriculum effectiveness
• determine academic and workplace readiness

  • 2. WHAT DOES TOEIC MEAN ? The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is a standardized English test oriented towards professionals and companies. The TOEIC is actually two separate tests, one which tests the receptive English skills (reading and listening) and one which tests the productive English skills (speaking and writing). Students can choose to take both TOEIC tests, or just one of the two, depending on their needs. The structure of each of the two tests is unique and the scoring is also different. There are a variety of TOEIC preparation methods available, from self-study to courses and practice tests.
