Difference Between Marketing Strategies of Physical and...
Slide One: The potential impact, in marketing terms, of the e business unit on the bricks and mortar
university is enormous. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning
has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the
customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend
international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and
must bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In
contrast, the e businesselement allows for marketingall around the world. The school can develop
curriculum for a number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the
centralized website. In addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for
careers in the US, Canada, the UK or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care
practitioners considerably, something that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a
shortage of qualified health care workers. The school will adhere to high level standards, so that
its degrees are widely recognized. There will also need to be policies in place that facilitate the
learning of students from all over the world, so that the environment is healthy and supportive for
all.
On a practical level, the school can facilitate real time learning by developing features and
mechanisms that

Customers that the decision making unit were trying to target in these markets constituted
healthcare providers that employed the use of medical devices. This ranged from large hospitals, to
independently operated hospitals, diagnostic centers and other clinics that focused on outpatient

Government policies on healthcare is key influencer to the buyers and potential users of the
healthymagination products. For instance, meaningful use of electronic Health Record (ECR)
requires healthcare providers to provide online reporting, changing the technology used by them.
Health insurance is another factor that indirectly affects the buying tendencies of the buyers.
More the people are insured, it is more likely they would opt for better quality of healthcare

Why Viruses Are Not Living Organisms
In general, viruses are a distinct group comparing to others. Viruses have similar characteristic as
a living organism, but it also lack some of the element that a living organism have. Viruses are a
hereditary material that may be single strand genome, or other may contain a double strand
genome which is ribonucleic acid or deoxyribonucleic acid. Viruses are very small species, when a
virusis not in contact with a cell, it is just a proteinthat contains a genome. In the other hand, when
it is in contact with a cell, it will requires help from the cells that have been inserted into to
duplicates itself. I agree that viruses are considered not living organisms because they can not do
many functions by themselves without entering a cell.
Cell theory define Cells as the basis of life in the universe, all living organisms are made of cell,
and all cells created by other old cells. There are many types of cells that can be categorize.
Prokaryotic cell and eukaryotic cell. These two types of cell have similarities and differences. ...

one of them is to make rRNA and collect proteins. Also, it tells the cell what to do regard specific
things. Golgi apparatus is sacs of cisterna, that looks like folds. Golgi modifies, describes, packs,
and concentrate protein. It delivers protein to the outside of the cell, during revising and correcting
the protein. In conclusion, viruses cannot survive without cells, from my perspective, I can see that
viruses are nonliving because they are dependent on the living cell and can not do much without

Analyzing The Statement Of Cash Flows The Cash Flow Statement
The use and purpose of the Statement of Cash Flows
The cash flow statement identify the
sources of cash flowing into the business and shows how they have been used over a period.
Companies or users need to read this statement in conjunction with trading and profit and loss
accounting and balance sheet and also in the context of the statement in the previous year. (Cox,
2004) This statement provides a useful tool for analysing management decisions and strategy. It
can reveal such things as the amount of liquid funds generated from operating activities; the ways
in which financing occurred and investment activities during a period. This information can help
companies or users to assess whether liquid funds generated are sufficient and whether they have
been raised and applied in an appropriate way. The importance of liquidity to a business is
difficult to overstate. It is not allow a profitable business to be forced to crease trading because it
does not have enough liquid funds to meet its maturing liabilities. (Atrill et al, 2001) The objective
of International Accounting Standard 7 is require the provision of information about the historical
changes in cash and cash equivalents of an entity by means of a statement of cash flows which
classifies cash flows during the period from operating, investing and financing activities. The
standard aim to give the financial statements of the companies with a basis for assessing the ability
of the entity to generate cash and cash

Sexuality In Dracula
After decades of cheesy horror movies, the image of vampires has been misconstrued as sparkly,
angsty teenage boys or handsome men that lure in girls for the fresh blood of a virgin. Many of
these stereotypical vampires are influenced by the story of Dracula, held in the Victorian era. Yet,
many of the stories published about vampires diverge from the message that Bram Stoker is trying
to make. During the Victorian period, sexuality is repressed by society, as sexual behaviors from
women are viewed as unacceptable. In the Gothic horror novel Dracula, Bram Stoker uses the
traumatic experience of Jonathan Harker at Count Dracula s castle and the invasion of vampires in
Great Britain to create a social commentary on the sexual repression occurring in this era and its
detrimental effect on the men.
Throughout the entire novel, Stoker hints at sexual references, based on the characters actions. In
every encounter with female vampires, there is a perverse tone in the wordings of the passage. For
example, during Jonathan Harker s visit to Count Dracula s castle, he encounters three vampire
sisters after he disobeys Dracula s order to not leave his room. Harker s heart has a wicked,
burning desire (Stoker 32) that the three sisters would kiss him. He shows carnal desires as he is
approached by these vampires, unable to refuse their advances on to him, despite his loyalty to
Mina. This reveals that the men of the Victorian era cannot refuse and maybe even fear the
unknown sexual

The Influence Of Australian Canon
The canon is a collection or list of sacred books accepted as genuine. (Canon Define, 2013 Literature
included in the Canon, shapes values that are taught within society. With the influence that
literature has on society, why does Australia not have their own Canon? The answer to this; because
no traditional scholars recognise Australia as having their own identity. Literature could introduce
the idea of giving Australia an identity. Imagine the positive impact that having an Australian canon
will have on the Australian identity. A separate canon will define Australia as a country, different
from the European canon and create a wider sense of diversity. There are many recognised works in
the Western Canon, ranging from Romeo and Juliet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Survey Report On The Survey
3.3.2 Survey
Survey will be used as a first and main part of the research, I wanted to reach high number of
respondents which meant larger amount of data (Saunders et al, 2009). In most cases survey is
using as a deductive approach (Saunders et al, 2009). Another reason why survey was se lected
as Muijs (2004) explained that it guarantees participants anonymity. Lastly survey was chosen as
it doesn t require long and deeply thought answers, as otherwise it would be really hard to collect
the required number of participants. Lastly decision to select surveys were also influenced by past
academic researchers (Abdolvand, 2016; Quellet, 2007; Obermiller and Spangenberg, 1989; Curran
and Zignago, 2012) which based their research methodology on surveys.
3.3.2.1 Survey Design
Most powerful determinant which influenced this survey design was the number of partici pants
which I could target with it. Another important aspect was that it allowed consumers to answer
the questions without spending too much time and questions themselves were easily
answerable. Layout of my survey were selected in accordance to previous academic research
which were studied in literature review section as I believe that by doing so I reduced the chance
of error which may occur if I have created my questions without basing them on something what
is already proved to be working. Before conducting this survey, I have de cided to trial it with 10 of
my friends in order to test the average length which would be

Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card Essay
Ender s Game, by Orson Scott Card, is an exceptional novel created by an extremely smart,
intuitive, and talented individual. This novel deals with several of societies issues and is almost
satire, comparable to Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn. Some topics that are prominent in Ender s
Game are compassion, humanity, and the relationship between adults and children. These three
elements define the main character, Ender, and influence the way he makes decisions and
eventually changes the world. The setting of this particular novel is in several places (including
Greensboro, N.C., Battle School, and Command School (on Eros, one of Saturn s Moons)), but

Due to Mazer Rackham s genius, the Formic Fleet was defeated. In preparation for the Formic s
third invasion, the International Fleet constructed Battle School and Command school to train
the smartest children in the world with the best tactical minds with rigorous training. Due to the
urgency that was taken to defeat the Formics, once and for all, the International Fleet, a new
governing body that was like United Nations on steroids, orders that children would be raised to
be the smartest the world had ever seen. Ender was one of those children. He was chosen at the
age of 6 to go to Battle School, an orbiting school that taught the children how to be good military
tacticians in the heat of battle. This was accomplished in the battle room, a large cube room
with no gravity. Cadets are given a gun that, when shot at another cadet wearing a flash suit,
causes the particular body part that was shot to freeze and become immobile. If a cadet was hit
in the stomach, their entire body would become immobile. When Ender first arrived to Battle
School, he was in a group known as the launchies, because they had just arrived to the school.
After about a year, these launchies progressed into an Army, or a group of 40 soldiers aged
anywhere from 8 12. Because Ender was so smart, he was progressed into an army after only 2
months in the launch group, unheard of in the history of the school. The commander of

Dawson Mcallister Gender Stereotypes
Gender Stereotypes The issue of gender stereotypes is a complex one. When people think about this
problem, they think that men and women have to have certain roles in society. The gender
stereotype that women are more emotional than men is a very common gender stereotype that is a
problem in our society. This stereotype was most common around 1952, yet the stereotype still
occurs today through the media. Judging a women to be the more emotional genderis bad for society
because it shapes the woman into being that stereotype. Even though the stereotype that women are
more emotional than men is often portrayed through society and the media, men are just as
emotional as women. In particular, men can get more emotional than women after a breakup....

This stereotype is presented in The Hopeline by Dawson McAllister who writes about how and why
women are more emotional than men. The article states, Women are more prone to talk about what
they are thinking and feeling, and to demonstrate how they are feeling with their tears, facial
expressions, hand gestures, and body language (McAllister 8). After taking time to analyze the
evidence, McAllister is false because even though women often show their emotions, men are more
emotional deep down, but are not willing to show it. According to Elite Daily by Paul Hudson, he
states that, In this study, conducted by neurologists at Mindlab, men are actually much more
sensitive than women when it comes to being presented with emotional stimuli... Boys are taught to
be ashamed of the emotions that they experience, so they grow into men who are both emotional
confused and in denial... Don t cry. Don t pout. Don t complain Be a man an emotionless, stubborn
man (Hudson 13). As can be seen in the evidence, men have a bigger reaction to stimuli.
Furthermore, while men are taught to hide their feelings, women are taught to share their emotions
with others, and this causes men to tend to be more emotional. In conclusion, men are just as,
sometimes more, emotional than women, but they hide their emotions

Fall Of The Mayan Empire Essay
Fall of the Maya Empire
From the late eighth through the end of the ninth century, something unknown happened to shake
the Maya civilization to its foundations. One city after another, cities starting from the southern
lowlands to the Yucatan Peninsula were abandoned, and by 900 A.D., Maya civilization in that
region had collapsed. Countless scholars have combed through the Maya ruins for clues to help
drive their own theories to what caused this massive empire to vanish. The fall of the Maya empire
has been hypothesized to three main scenarios, exhaustion of resources, feuding city states and
rulers, and an extreme period of drought which contributed to the Maya demise.
Some believe that by the ninth century the Maya had exhausted the environment around them to
the point that it could no longer sustain an exponentially growing population. Other Maya scholars
argue that constant warfare among competing city states led the complicated military, family (by
marriage) and trade alliances between them led to the breakdown, along with the traditional system
of divine power. Finally, some catastrophic environmental climate change, like an extremely long,
intense period of drought, may have wiped out the Maya civilization. By the time the Spanish
explorers arrived, however, most Maya were living in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It is not a question of having more, or more significant, opportunities: the opportunity for me to
study is there now. Rather it is a question of being able to take advantage of the opportunity by
being in control of my life. Positive freedom in this example is a matter of my having the
capacity to take the rational option as well as having the opportunity: whereas, according to a
concept of negative freedom, the opportunities that I have alone determine the extent of my
freedom. I am free to study in the negative sense since no one is preventing me from doing it; no
one has locked away my books, or hidden my pen and paper; no one has dragged me out of the
door to go to the movies, or chained me to my easy chair in front of the television. However, I
am not free in the positive sense; I am not truly free, because I am a slave to my tendency to be
sidetracked. True positive freedom would involve seizing control of my life and making rational
choices for myself. Those who defend positive freedom believe that just because no one is
preventing you from doing something, it does not follow that you are genuinely free. Positive
freedom is a matter of achieving your potential, not just having

The Hawthorne Studies
Introduction
Hawthorne Studies began in 1924 until 1932 at the Western Electric, Hawthorne plant in Cicero,
Illinois, by Professor Elton Mayo. Initially, this study was originated to identify the conditions of
which would improve the working conditions for higher productivity. However, as time progressed,
it evolved and was used by managements across as a guide to restructuring their respective
companies.
With Professor Elton Mayo from the Harvard Business School began a study of how the workers
at Western Electric behave. (Wickstrom, Bourke, 1986) Part of the reason that Western Electric was
chosen was due it was a large manufacturing company that consisted of about 40,000 workers with a
mixture of men and women.

Lastly, the workplace is a social system: The Hawthorne researchers came to view the workplace as
a social system made up of interdependent parts. This is reflected from the results of the tests from
the women in the relay assembly test room. This is where a group of six women were singled out
from the main assembly line and isolated in a room where the group of them assembled the
products together. After monitoring them, it was noted that productivity in the assembly room rose
much higher than that of the main assembly department. Reason being the women felt happier,
more intimate and developed a strong bond for each other while in the assembly room, and this
resulted in wholehearted spontaneous working attitudes and relationships resulting in significant
rise in the results for the assembly. (Sonnenfeld, 1985)
Findings from the Hawthorne studies emerged at the time when Frederick Taylor s Scientific
Management theory was in place. However, the findings from the Hawthorne studies, with some
realistic modifications to the individual scenarios and modernization, can still be applicable to the
managers of today, when used to handle staff in the various fields, even more than the requirements
of the initial industrial management.
From the Hawthorne studies, we can identify three

He realizes how misguided slavery was from the constitution. In his Peoria speech he calls

throughout the speech. Lincoln realizes how much the African Americans suffer through this. In
August of 1862, Abe meets with a couple of the African American leaders in order to discuss

sixteenth century Netherlandish painter Pieter Brueghel the Elder and Mayken Coecke van Aelstv

sceneries, religious matters, axioms and small town landscapes. The paintings were sold for local
sale and export and were generally noted as missing humanism and nuance. In addition, he did

First Day In School Essay
Sammie Jo, get up. We have to go drop dad off, I hear mom say from my door. I roll out of bed
with my doll, my brother is already in the living room. Dad has a big duffle bag sitting by the
couch. He says good bye to the dogs and then we all walk out to the car. My brother and I do not
say word the whole car ride. Mommy was crying and holding dad s hand on the way to Cherry
Point. It took us about twenty minutes to get on base and to my dad s work building. There was a
lot of buff men in their cammies, some of them are already on the bus. What is going on? I think to
myself. Dad gives mom a hug and kiss before he gave me and my brother a hug. I don t understand
what is going on but I don t let go off my daddy for what felt like forever. Time to let go kiddo,
Dad says before making me pull away. He gives us one last look before walking into the big group
of Marines. I keep my eyes on him as long as possible before he gets on the bus and drives away.
The next day is the first day of second grade. I cannot wait to see my old classmates and meet my
new teacher. When we get done eating breakfast, we give mom a hug good bye then head to the
bus stop. It does not feel right, only saying bye to one parentbefore going to school but my brother,
Blake, just tells me that I better get used to it. The school day goes on as usual. I stay to myself a
lot. I don t need a ton of friends or to be the popular one; my only worry at the time is making good
grades. All day I think to

Themes Of Madness And The Fuutility Of Life In...
As a group, we decided to select Gary Jules song Mad World which connects to William
Shakespeare s tragedy, King Lear in terms of the themes of madness and the futility of life. In
King Lear, the aspects of loss, suffering, and injustice are experienced by the characters that
seemingly cause a hopeless end. This song will be played at the end of the play after Edgar
speaks, as it essentially summarizes the final outcome of the play. We chose this song because
the lyrics fit precisely with the end of the tragedy, and provides further insights Shakespeare
attempts to reveal to the audience. The tone is also extremely depressing and melancholy, which
effectively provides a connection with Gloucester s unfortunate demise. Effectively, the audience
should be able to attain a sense of the tragic mood at the end of the play. When the fault of an
individual s irrational decision causes unforeseen difficulties, it can cause a sense of bitterness
which can lead to a desire for redemption in aspiration of fulfilling what was lost. In the beginning
of the song, Jules discusses the element of the futility of life. Jules states that people awake Bright
and early for their daily races // Going nowhere, which suggests the idea that individuals have a
tendency to face society lacking any purpose or fulfillment. Likewise, King Learprovides insights
regarding the loss of hope in Gloucester, who exclaims that he does not want to go any further,
when Cordelia s army lost the battle

The Controversy Between Theory To Measurement And...
The role of measurement
How does the mechanism proceed from theory to measurement and to policy making?
Once the phenomenon is examined within a conceptual framework; I intend to go further with a
methodological understanding and questioning of the mechanism in which immigration is
modelled, measured, and intervened with the policies. In order to inquire this, the first emphasis
goes on the link between theory and measurement; and then to the way the scientific process is
translated into real world via policy making. Thinking how numbers dependency on the subject
matter (individuals) can easily turn to the dependency of individuals to the numbers just because
policy matters for people; a proper understanding and measuring people and their environment as a
whole appears to be essential. It can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These indices on the other hand, can be seen as the way authorities (states or group of states, i.e.
European Union) define and identify immigrants since they play role in policy making. So, the
extent these indices recognize identity can be symbolized as the extent states and policies recognize
immigrants as they have identities (heterogeneous mixture), in interaction with others, and do
change.
Following the discussion on the problems in the economic theory; the validity of the indices would
then depend on how adequately they take the individuals, their change and interaction into account.
If what matters in immigration is not only an ultimate goal set in one point of time or its
consequences in performance in an isolated work place; but the goals, as individuals do, evolve
within interaction of identities of all entities (people, groups, institutions, lands) maybe in different
frequencies or different ways; then indices as the way authorities understand individuals should
well take this into account.

Tron Cons
The film Tron is celebrated and held as a triumph today, but back in the 1980s, the film suffered
from lack of appeal to a wider audience, geared toward more teenage video game buffs and
computer nerds, with a juvenile story, laced with simple dialogue, and unsophisticated costumes.
Without a doubt, the major appeal in Tronis the minimal use of CGI and spectacular animation that
was used to create its computer enhance landscape. However, in spite of its groundbreaking use of
computer generated effects, this costly, somewhat embarrassing box office failure soon developed
a growing fan base of nostalgically minded computer geeks who ended up bestowing a reputation

Lisberger is best remembered today for Tron and for directing the underrated sci fi film, starring
Mark Hamill called Slipstream (1989). The inspiration for Tron occurred in 1976 when Steven
Lisberger, then an animator of drawings with his own studio, looked at a sample reel from a
computer firm called MAGI and saw Pong for the first time. He was immediately fascinated by
video games and wanted to do a film incorporating them (Wikipedia). Lisberger teamed up with
writer Bonnie MacBird by researching computer science and video game ideas, and eventually
came up with the bases for the story of Tron. The screenplay was later written by Lisberger, his
business partner Donald Kushner, became producer. Kushner is also responsible for the series
Automan (1983 1984), TV s holographic crime fighter that looked very similar to Tron by using
the same FX. Disney decided in 1981 to film Tron completely in 65 mm Super Panavision (except
for the computer generated layers, which were shot in VistaVision and both anamorphic 35mm
and Super 35 which were used for some scenes in the real world and subsequently blown up to
65mm (Wikipedia). Cinematography for Tron was by Bruce Logan and edited by Jeff Gourson.

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3
In Ecclesiastes 1:4 6 I do not think it has a message pertaining weather. This passage means to me
that people are born, and people pass away; the sun will shine the next morning and set in the
evening, and this pattern will continue. Just like in Ecclesiastes chapter three; there is a season

Modern Dance, By Miriam Giguere
Contemporary dance was developed in the early 20th century as a movement against the rigid
technique of ballet (Blackfish Arts Acadamy, 2006). Using the natural lines of the body to create
new movements, the contemporary dance style usually has more fluidity than that of conventional
dance styles (Freeman, 2013). In the book Beginning Modern Dance, Miriam Giguere says The
function of dance is communication. . . . By communication is not meant to tell a story or to
project an idea, but to communicate experience by means of action . . . out of this came a different
use of the body as an instrument, as the violin is an instrument. Body is the basic instrument,
intuitive, instinctive. As a result an entirely contemporary set of technics was evolved. (Giguere,
2014).
A forerunner in the changing face of modern dance was choreographer and performer Martha
Graham. Graham took up dance at the age of 22, during the time when women were fighting for
the right to vote (Mapes, 2013). Being both shorter and older than most dancers, Graham had to
use her body in a different way to the others at the Denishawn School of dance. This went against
all of the principles that female dancers had originally been taught (Mapes, 2013). Over the
duration of her career, Graham created one of the only sets of technique that is still practiced in
today s contemporary style (Mapes, 2013). Focusing on two main principles, contraction and
release, Graham s technique was strikingly different to that of

George Zimmerman s Case
George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch leader, was driving to Target to run a errand on the
night of February 26, 2012 when he observed a suspicious person, leisurely walking in the rain,
looking at all the houses, wearing a grey hoodie as he would tell dispatch in his 911 call made at
7:09 p.m. Moments later an altercation occurred between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, which
left Trayvon dead from a single gunshot wound to his chest and Zimmerman with a bloody nose
and a cut to the back of his head. Zimmerman asserted that the shooting was done in self defense
because he thought Trayvon was reaching for his ( Zimmerman s ) concealed gun and he feared for
his life. Eye witness accounts of the event backed his claim that Trayvon was hitting him, but

In the years following the Civil War, the American economy was suffering from extreme disorder.
However, during the late 1800s and early 1900s, important leaders of American industry arose,
essentially transforming the American financial system from chaos to efficiency. These powerful
men shaped America into a world superpower and the country s economy sparked jealous across the

His goal was to spread efficiency and organization throughout every company he owned and
operated. Through Rockefeller s efforts, the chaos of the oil industry was transformed into
order and stability. His influence in this industry led to the creation of a myriad of products for
the public which only bettered their ways of life. Similar to Carnegie, Rockefeller also fostered
lower prices for oil, making light cheap and available to the public as the oil was mainly utilized
in kerosene lamps. His Standard Oil Company served as precursor of America s economic success
both at home and on an international level.
Morgan, along with Carnegie and Rockefeller, worked to make the American economy organized

one point, the U.S. Treasury seemed on the brink of failure as it didn t have enough gold in

would have promoted widespread panic. Morgan convinced several of the nation s foremost
financers to lend money in an effort to save the trust, in turn saving the country from a financial
catastrophe. Morgan is also infamously known for creating successful companies from failing

A Study of Religious Healthcare
Religious Healthcare Introduction Religious healthcare came up with the different religions in the
United States of America. The Roman Catholic churches were the first to come up with these
systems. Their intentions were to reach out to the poor who did not have medical covers. The
church penetrated to the remote areas and they were able to put up dispensaries and also offer in
house treatments. In their programs, they included the nutrition education to the people and also
the need for physical fitness. The religion was very influential to the society and their services
were received with open hands. Their medical facility was affordable with quality medication. They
provided food supplements to the malnourished and also issued food stamps to the needy. With the
changing society, religion healthcare became popular and research showed that it is even more
popular than any of their competitors (Pearce, 2005). In the United States, Healthcare has been
affected by many changes in the clinical practice. The social and institutional lives have also
affected the systems. The religion sector has come up with clinics that have lower rates than the
general hospitals hence most patients are comfortable attending those clinics. Religion has taken
major impact on its followers despite the changes in the society. The healthcare system has had its
challenges and needs improvements on some areas (Tollefsen, 2007). For instance, the nursing
services have to be well planned. This

Serious injury could be a broken extremity, spinal injury, head trauma or brain damage. The
injuries could lead to long term consequences that result in a person becoming a parapalegic or
serious neurological damage. It might even result in death. This is why there are serious labor
laws in the state to protect workers. There s a section of New York Labor Law that gives special
protection to construction crews and workers who find themselves at high heights during their
work duties. Thousands of workers are injured and lose their lives due to ladder falls. Section
240 of the labor law says that workers must be given braces, ropes, slings and other safety
equipment to perform on ladders. They should be provided with harnesses too. Along with the
section of the labor law, OSHA has rules as well. OSHA Rules Ladders and scaffolds should not

The Disappearance Of The Lost Colony
In 1587, one hundred ten people, including seventeen women and nine children, sailed from
Plymouth, England, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I to start a new life on the Outer
Banks. This colony of over one hundred people disappeared from the Roanoke Island region,
never to be seen again (Kramer 2). For over 400 years, historians and archeologists have
attempted to determine what happened. Although there are several popular theories regarding
the disappearance of the Lost Colony, the theory with the most evidence for being accurate is
the migration theory. The two previous expeditions that had been sent to this region by Sir
Walter Raleigh had been unsuccessful in establishing a settlement. The first group had simply
returned to England. The second group had left fifteen men to stay on the island to start a
colony. The third group had expected to find these men when they arrived, but the logs of Fort
Raleigh had been pulled down. One corpse was found and it became clear that the destiny of the
others was not good, and none had survived ( The Lost Colony of Roanoke 2). Prior to their
departure from England in1587, the third group of colonists was misled about the area they were
sent to. The previous expedition had compared Roanoke to the Garden of Eden saying, The earth
bringeth forth all things in abundance, as in the first creation, without toil or labor. The soil is the

Upper Class And Social Class
Body
Social class profoundly affects an individual s academic achievement in school. In this case, social
class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further influences their future both
academically and professionally. Empirical evidence suggests that individuals/students attending
college/university from a lower social class face difficulties when socially integrating into the
school system leading to higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and
Aelenei, 2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher social
class tend to succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college, high academic
performance rates, etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that an obvious sociocultural
difference continues to persist among individuals who belong to different social classes.
Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating into the
schooling system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often have parents who
reinforce educational topics such as politics, world news, history, etc. within the home. This is
supported by findings which indicate that one of the factors related to success among upper class
students is their access to cultural capital (Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also
important to take into consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with
college/university degrees in

Wouldn t it be so cool to talk to them too? Being able to learn their ways, their literature, their

After being decently proficient in speaking Spanish, I realized that learning another language

Compare and Contrast a Technical Approach to Innovation
Innovation has traditionally been seen as technical issue concerned only with machinery and
systems. Compare and contrast this technical approach to innovation with the more knowledge
centred approaches discussed on this course. Your answer should draw upon case study evidence to
critically assess the value of the two approaches.
Innovation is a key element of modern business. In a world full of modern industrialised nations it
is essential for big business to innovate. Ed Rhodes and David Wield identify innovation as; the
implementation of new technologies (Rhodes, E, 1994, page 79) for a firm to rise above its

Innovation follows science (Chris Land, 2006, Lecture 2) scientific discoveries since the spinning
jenny in the industrial revolution have changed the way our industries operate. There are many
fields of science; the typical view of science is technological, biological, chemical, and physically
orientated; i.e. science is tangible and therefore the widely known view of innovations relates to
these tangible sciences; dyson vacuum cleaners, the spinning jenny; both technological innovations.
Today, there are intangible sciences such as the science of Management, where new theories and
innovations on how to motivate the workforce, organise strategies, market strategies and the
management of strategic core competencies have revolutionised the industry. Knowledge
innovation is creativity and logic put to strategies of how to go about doing things, opposed to
technical innovation as creativity and logic put to the research and development of a new product.
James Dyson said about innovation, It s the unlikely juxtaposition of creativity and logic which
causes the wooliness and confusion around the term innovation . (James Dyson, Ingenia, Issue 24,
2005, page 32)
(Chris Land, 2006, Lecture 2)
To what does knowledge innovation refer to? There are two perspectives as to how to perceive

The Impact of Alcohol Port Protector Caps on Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections
Central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) is the second leading cause of death
from healthcare acquired infection in the US (Boubekri, 2013), contributing to a high mortality
rate of 12% 25% (CDC, 2011), and they are costly to treat, averaging more than $45,000 per case
(Kaler, 2014). The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) stops reimbursing
providers for the care and treatment of CLABSIs while patient was under their care because these
are potentially considered preventable events through the use of evidence based practices (Saladow,
2010). At the Cardiovascular Step down (CVSD) unit, almost all of the patients who were coming...

Value Sensitive Design
In Value Sensitive Design and Nanotechnology by Ronald Sandler, Sandler explains the process
engineers must consider while they design a technology.
Sandler introduces technology and its relationship with society. He points out that some
technologies are welcomed by society and may solve world issues while others are resisted by
society because they may cause problems.
Sandler then observes the dependency humans have on technology. He talks about how important
technology is to the survival human race, but also how many current social interactions now
happen through technology.
He then briefly mentions the theme of the article when he writes about deciding if a technology is
ethical or not. Sandler states that if there were more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that the vast majority of people choose projects that will have a positive outcome,
however, it may not always be the best project. Sandler s example of this is cancer research as
opposed malaria treatment, which is more prevalent in third world countries, while neither project
has a negative outcome.
His second idea of value sensitive design is listed as defining success and how technology can
have different types of success. Sandler says that definition of success must be defined clearly
first off. The example that Sandler uses is the One Laptop Per Child initiative, which was to get
underprivileged kids a laptop for less than $100. Although the original program failed, it lead to
the $75 One Tablet per Child program, so it may be considered a success.
Sandler s third concept of value sensitive design is means and byproducts, which delves into how
many technologies have unintended byproducts, and how the ends don t always justify the
means. One tool that he explains is the Life Cycle Assessment, which tracks a technology through
its life to observe the pros and cons it will have on society. Sandler then explores how
nanotechnology may seem ideal at first glance, but leaves a lot of room for privacy issues. He
thinks that by having social scientists work with engineers, many issues will be

Similarities Between Muscadine And Vinifera
Muscadine Versus Vinifera
For those living in the south, Muscadine wine is a very familiar commodity. However, as
popular as it is, Vinifera wine is also rather popular. Both wines are fantastic and provide wine
drinkers a unique tasting experience. If you are planning an event and trying to decide between
Muscadine and Vinifera wines, here are some of the differences you can expect to see.
Muscadine Wine
Muscadine Wine is made from the Muscadine grape. These grapes have vines with textured foliage
and are extremely colorful. The skins of these grapes are extremely thick and range in color from
green or bronze to black or dark purple when they are ripe an. They are also typically grown during
the fall months of September and October.
Usually, when you find a Muscadine wine, you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people even make their own Muscadine wine at home from grapes that grow on their
property or that they purchase. This creates a home grown wine that is like nothing else you will
taste.
Vinifera
When comparing Vinifera wines to Muscadine, you won t find many similarities. These wines are
European style white wines that are sophisticated and versatile. Until the 1960s, these wines
remained a European wine, but now they are also grown and produced in the United States.
There are many types of wines that fall into the Vinifera family. For example, one of the most
popular is Chardonnay. This is a hardy wine that offers high quality and great flavor. Another
popular option is white Riesling. This is another wine that is a high quality wine and it is usually
considered sweeter than other wines.
Pinot blanc is a white wine that originally came from places in Germany and France. It is similar
to Chardonnay both in flavor and boldness. Pinot gris is another interesting wine that falls into this
family. One of the things people like about this wine is that it is a great complement or alternative
for Chardonnay and white

The Importance Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a time of great change throughout the world. The industrial
revolution occurred in the late 18th century and first began in Great Britain and soon expanded into
Western Europe and to the united states. This period caused a great impact on the Catholic church
and it changed the way the world manufactured resources. Unfortunately, there was a decline in the
importance of religion to people as they moved towards urbanisation. This caused Pope Leo XIIIto
enforce the Catholic social teachings through the encyclicalhe wrote which was called Rerum
Novarum( revolutionary change ). In the encyclical, Pope Leo examined the situation of the poor
people and the workers in industrialised countries. He then formed seven important principals
that would guide the response. Industrialisation may have brought about many positive outcomes
such as the increased amount and variety of goods manufactured and improved standards of
living (for some people). However with all these benefits, there has been a result of grim
employment and living conditions for the poor and working class, in summary, the wealthier got
wealthier and the poorer got poorer. The Pope (Pope Leo XII) at the time wrote an encyclical
called Rerum Novarum which was published on May 15th 1891, and was aimed to address the
social issues and question the loss of wealth of the working class.
Before the revolution, all manufacturing was done was done in the peoples homes there was no
machines only

Surveillance Of U.s. Citizens
Ameer Lee 4/30/2015 1108 ENGL In this day and age it is very hard to be secretive or private
about affair, whether it be business or the other sense of the word when two people come together
as forbidden lovers, ask Bill Clinton. One often acquires a feeling of eeriness while alone or when
the phone rings and no one is there. And that individual labels these incidents as paranoia or thinks
nothing of it. But what if this isn t coincidence? What if someone has tapped lines and to ensure it
is working the phone rings. Remember that Collect call from , the government you received

This company is the juiciest part of the peach because everyone depends on them not only for
valid information but proof, pictures, recordings you name it. As the website say Our customers
know they can count on us to provide what they need, when they need it, wherever they need it.
But what is that suppose to mean and why did they decide to use the word customers? Who are
the industry partners and allies? Is the NSA only keeping surveillance on possible threats in the
USA or are they watching U.S. citizens for entertainment or bigger purposes. If one was to really
think about it it takes time to observe the environment to know for sure that something is wrong
with it. It is just like looking into a camera and saying there s the bad guy . Innocent U.S. citizens
are being stoke and having their right for privacy violated. These are peoples lives. NSA was
established on November 4, 1952, by President Harry Truman. At the time Truman was sworn in
as the 33rd president of the U.S. after Roosevelt s unforeseen death. In hopes to end WWII the
NSA was established and helped win the war by breaking German and Japanese codes and
encrypted messages. Ironically Truman died in 1972 when the CSS and NSA joined forces.
Seemed to be all fine and well using surveillance for good and winning the war. The people were
happy when their troops came home. Where the NSA systems down when Bush became president?

The Benefits Of Tailored Mentoring
Introduction
Mentoring is an excellent way to teach students about any subject. Whether it s math, science,
social studies, art, or literature, being a mentor is a satisfying feeling. For a mentee who struggles
with particular subjects, they might want to consider getting a mentor. The biggest challenge is
having a student that is gifted can be a frustrating and counterproductive use of time. Science and
psychologists have studied effective ways to teach gifted students through tailored mentoring
programs. They have shown to be successful, but there are a lot of questions why it is so
successful. Finding the answers is beneficial to both the mentor and the mentee, so they re on the
same page.
What is Tailored Peer Mentoring?
Tailored peer mentoring is a program that is designed to help a gifted student learn, based on their
needs. Depending on what the student needs, the mentorship should teach in a certain manner so
the gifted student understands. While it is not a common form of mentorship, tailoring a program
based on the student has started to gain traction. It s well known that not everyone learns at the
same rate, but by forming a program that will help them learn at their own pace. It s important that
a mentor shows patience and knows how to work with different gifted ... Show more content on

It could be that the mentor is explaining things in a way that a gifted student understands the
material. Perhaps the mentor makes the gifted student feel more comfortable and asking more
insightful questions about the material. Considering there are four effective learning processes,
perhaps a mentor is better at teaching those Big Four learning processes. Students who do receive
tailored peer mentoring have a chance to learn subjects at their own pace, instead of trying to keep
up with the rest of the class, which can also be a factor in the success

Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir Essay
Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir
Film Noir is a French word which means: dark or black film. This is very fitting as Film Noir and
the Maltese falcon are stories of dark deceptive people who often cannot be trusted. Film Noir is a
good example of this as the story is about a detective called Sam Spade who gets dragged into the
quest for the Maltese Falcon with a compulsive liar Kasper Gutman. The Maltese Falcon is a large
bird made of solid gold worth millions. The main six conventions of Film Noir as I can see are
The plot, lighting , dialogue, body language, stock characters and camera angles.
The film is about a group of 5 people fighting to find and keep the golden jewel encrusted ... Show

In the shot Spade is on the right and Bridgid on the left. Spade is wearing a hat, the light is
projected so that the shadow covers his eyes. Eyes often show how a person is really feeling,
with these hidden Spade looks as he is the bad deceptive one, this is another twist to the plot. O
Shaughnessy is on the left, the light on her face is very different. Her face is lit up so her whole
face is visible, her eyes are large and she looks very innocent. Light is often projected on the
females faces as to make them look vulnerable and truthful, when is this instance Bridgid is the
opposite. Another example is when Spade is being questioned by two investigators, in this scene
Spade sits in the middle of them both so his face is visible but only the back of the other two
investigators. There is only one lamp in this frame and all the rays are focused on Spade, this as
with the others makes him look innocent, which in this case he is, but with the twists you are not
sure.
Outdoor lighting is quite similar, outside scenes are usually lit by headlights and street lamps. A
scene outside is a good place for someone to hide as the beam of light is often focused on one direct
spot. A good example is when Miles Archer

Whomever Invictus Meaning
Invictus provides a message I can relate to. It doesn t detract from the philosophy that I ve
developed over the past couple of tumultuous years. In fact, Invictus adds to my developing
theory on how to persevere and live. It inspires me to keep going on my own path despite any
negative outside influence. Two years ago, I sat alone in my house alone, wanting to go outside.
I didn t have any friends to speak of, and I hadn t stepped outside in two days. Those were the
most painful days, and years that I have ever lived through. While I cannot say I did not wince
nor cry aloud, I can most definitely say I had my share of long days. I consume this poem in my
blackest of night and my darkest of days. Whomever Invictus describes, I d like to think it the
human race a whole, is struggling and fighting on in a manner that is not at all foreign to me.

This poem is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring pieces I have ever read and preaches a
message of prosperity that is rare amongst anything that I have access on a daily basis. The
conviction that I feel and the perseverance that I exhibit are greatly complimented by the words of
Invictus, specifically the implication that the soul is unconquerable. The conclusion that we ll be
fine, often realized in the middle of a losing battle, is what Invictus reassure me is true. The fact
that the poem opens with thanks to the gods for resilience, only to reel on describing countless
intangible terrors, and horrors, is calming. The opening stanza is something akin to a calm before a
storm. And in reality, this calm always

Very high resistance value is required to attain the 5V DC output using this regulator. Although,
similar topologies using MAX756 or MAX757 IC might be an optimum solution to this problem.
It steps up voltage within 0.7V 5.5V to 2.7V 5.5V [11]. MAX757 can be adjustment according to
the requirement, whereas MAX756 gives fixed 5V DC output.
Fig 7 A 5V DC boost regulator using MAX757 IC In future, this system can be built within the

PCB boards which can be installed within the mobile phones. Two such phones will then be able to
share the power within them using this technology.
VIII. CONCLUSION In this paper, we have described a mechanism to transfer a low power DC
voltage from one mobile to another for the purpose of charging the phone. We have dealt with
coupling coils and their resonance. Colpitts Oscillator, Full Bridge Rectifier and Voltage Regulator
circuits have been implemented. This project gives us a new and convenient option of recharging
our phones at times when charging from a phone remains the only option because of the lack of
having proper charging outlets. This simple idea is a feasible and inexpensive one for mobile

Immersion Reflection Paper
A recent experience of mine that has made a significant impact on who I am today would be my
joining of open immersion. Immersion has always been a tradition of my school, Assumption
College, for many years. This became one of many reasons why I decided that I d like to take
part of this tradition before I graduate and leave my more than a decade long alma mater. I also
chose to volunteer because I saw this as a good opportunity to render communityservice and fulfill
my social responsibility as a student in the Assumption community.
However, I had underestimated how this journey would impact my own identity. I entered this
odyssey without much prior knowledge on what would happen and what exactly we would be
doing. The immersion took place in the small community in Barrio Obrero, Iloilo. Our volunteer
group, consisting of only five high school students and a couple of teacher chaperones, was based in
a public learning center called the Assumption Socio Educational Center (ASEC), which was
founded by the Assumption community many years ago. Our first activity during our immersion was

for us. But after we ve done our part for this task, we were assigned to help out in the school s
bookstore, wherein we covered notebooks in plastic wrap. It seemed to be a menial task, but it
was an enjoyable afternoon. We were able to interact with the bookstore workers there and learn
more about the community while we did the task. The workers, like many of the other members of
their community, lived very simple lives, and yet seemed to be happy and content with what they

that the Duchess isn t alive anymore and the Dukedoesn t stop and think for a minute. After

  • 2. Difference Between Marketing Strategies of Physical and... Slide One: The potential impact, in marketing terms, of the e business unit on the bricks and mortar university is enormous. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and must bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In contrast, the e businesselement allows for marketingall around the world. The school can develop curriculum for a number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the centralized website. In addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for careers in the US, Canada, the UK or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care practitioners considerably, something that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a shortage of qualified health care workers. The school will adhere to high level standards, so that its degrees are widely recognized. There will also need to be policies in place that facilitate the learning of students from all over the world, so that the environment is healthy and supportive for all. On a practical level, the school can facilitate real time learning by developing features and mechanisms that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Viruses have similar characteristic as a living organism, but it also lack some of the element that a living organism have. Viruses are a hereditary material that may be single strand genome, or other may contain a double strand genome which is ribonucleic acid or deoxyribonucleic acid. Viruses are very small species, when a virusis not in contact with a cell, it is just a proteinthat contains a genome. In the other hand, when it is in contact with a cell, it will requires help from the cells that have been inserted into to duplicates itself. I agree that viruses are considered not living organisms because they can not do many functions by themselves without entering a cell. Cell theory define Cells as the basis of life in the universe, all living organisms are made of cell, and all cells created by other old cells. There are many types of cells that can be categorize. The cash flow statement identify the sources of cash flowing into the business and shows how they have been used over a period. • 7. Sexuality In Dracula After decades of cheesy horror movies, the image of vampires has been misconstrued as sparkly, angsty teenage boys or handsome men that lure in girls for the fresh blood of a virgin. Many of these stereotypical vampires are influenced by the story of Dracula, held in the Victorian era. Yet, many of the stories published about vampires diverge from the message that Bram Stoker is trying to make. During the Victorian period, sexuality is repressed by society, as sexual behaviors from women are viewed as unacceptable. In the Gothic horror novel Dracula, Bram Stoker uses the traumatic experience of Jonathan Harker at Count Dracula s castle and the invasion of vampires in Great Britain to create a social commentary on the sexual repression occurring in this era and its detrimental effect on the men. Throughout the entire novel, Stoker hints at sexual references, based on the characters actions. In every encounter with female vampires, there is a perverse tone in the wordings of the passage. For example, during Jonathan Harker s visit to Count Dracula s castle, he encounters three vampire sisters after he disobeys Dracula s order to not leave his room. Harker s heart has a wicked, burning desire (Stoker 32) that the three sisters would kiss him. He shows carnal desires as he is approached by these vampires, unable to refuse their advances on to him, despite his loyalty to Mina. This reveals that the men of the Victorian era cannot refuse and maybe even fear the unknown sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In most cases survey is using as a deductive approach (Saunders et al, 2009). Another reason why survey was se lected as Muijs (2004) explained that it guarantees participants anonymity. Lastly survey was chosen as it doesn t require long and deeply thought answers, as otherwise it would be really hard to collect the required number of participants. Lastly decision to select surveys were also influenced by past academic researchers (Abdolvand, 2016; Quellet, 2007; Obermiller and Spangenberg, 1989; Curran and Zignago, 2012) which based their research methodology on surveys. 3.3.2.1 Survey Design Most powerful determinant which influenced this survey design was the number of partici pants which I could target with it. Another important aspect was that it allowed consumers to answer the questions without spending too much time and questions themselves were easily answerable. Layout of my survey were selected in accordance to previous academic research which were studied in literature review section as I believe that by doing so I reduced the chance of error which may occur if I have created my questions without basing them on something what is already proved to be working. This novel deals with several of societies issues and is almost satire, comparable to Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn. Some topics that are prominent in Ender s Game are compassion, humanity, and the relationship between adults and children. These three elements define the main character, Ender, and influence the way he makes decisions and eventually changes the world. Due to the urgency that was taken to defeat the Formics, once and for all, the International Fleet, a new governing body that was like United Nations on steroids, orders that children would be raised to be the smartest the world had ever seen. Ender was one of those children. He was chosen at the age of 6 to go to Battle School, an orbiting school that taught the children how to be good military tacticians in the heat of battle. This was accomplished in the battle room, a large cube room with no gravity. Cadets are given a gun that, when shot at another cadet wearing a flash suit, causes the particular body part that was shot to freeze and become immobile. If a cadet was hit in the stomach, their entire body would become immobile. • 12. Dawson Mcallister Gender Stereotypes Gender Stereotypes The issue of gender stereotypes is a complex one. When people think about this problem, they think that men and women have to have certain roles in society. The gender stereotype that women are more emotional than men is a very common gender stereotype that is a problem in our society. This stereotype was most common around 1952, yet the stereotype still occurs today through the media. Judging a women to be the more emotional genderis bad for society because it shapes the woman into being that stereotype. Even though the stereotype that women are more emotional than men is often portrayed through society and the media, men are just as emotional as women. In particular, men can get more emotional than women after a breakup.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This stereotype is presented in The Hopeline by Dawson McAllister who writes about how and why women are more emotional than men. The article states, Women are more prone to talk about what they are thinking and feeling, and to demonstrate how they are feeling with their tears, facial expressions, hand gestures, and body language (McAllister 8). After taking time to analyze the evidence, McAllister is false because even though women often show their emotions, men are more emotional deep down, but are not willing to show it. According to Elite Daily by Paul Hudson, he states that, In this study, conducted by neurologists at Mindlab, men are actually much more sensitive than women when it comes to being presented with emotional stimuli... Boys are taught to be ashamed of the emotions that they experience, so they grow into men who are both emotional confused and in denial... Don t cry. Don t pout. Don t complain Be a man an emotionless, stubborn man (Hudson 13). As can be seen in the evidence, men have a bigger reaction to stimuli. Furthermore, while men are taught to hide their feelings, women are taught to share their emotions with others, and this causes men to tend to be more emotional. In conclusion, men are just as, sometimes more, emotional than women, but they hide their emotions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Fall Of The Mayan Empire Essay Fall of the Maya Empire From the late eighth through the end of the ninth century, something unknown happened to shake the Maya civilization to its foundations. One city after another, cities starting from the southern lowlands to the Yucatan Peninsula were abandoned, and by 900 A.D., Maya civilization in that region had collapsed. Countless scholars have combed through the Maya ruins for clues to help drive their own theories to what caused this massive empire to vanish. The fall of the Maya empire has been hypothesized to three main scenarios, exhaustion of resources, feuding city states and rulers, and an extreme period of drought which contributed to the Maya demise. Some believe that by the ninth century the Maya had exhausted the environment around them to the point that it could no longer sustain an exponentially growing population. Other Maya scholars argue that constant warfare among competing city states led the complicated military, family (by marriage) and trade alliances between them led to the breakdown, along with the traditional system of divine power. Finally, some catastrophic environmental climate change, like an extremely long, intense period of drought, may have wiped out the Maya civilization. Rather it is a question of being able to take advantage of the opportunity by being in control of my life. As a group, we decided to select Gary Jules song Mad World which connects to William Shakespeare s tragedy, King Lear in terms of the themes of madness and the futility of life. In King Lear, the aspects of loss, suffering, and injustice are experienced by the characters that seemingly cause a hopeless end. This song will be played at the end of the play after Edgar speaks, as it essentially summarizes the final outcome of the play. We chose this song because the lyrics fit precisely with the end of the tragedy, and provides further insights Shakespeare attempts to reveal to the audience. The tone is also extremely depressing and melancholy, which effectively provides a connection with Gloucester s unfortunate demise. Effectively, the audience should be able to attain a sense of the tragic mood at the end of the play. When the fault of an individual s irrational decision causes unforeseen difficulties, it can cause a sense of bitterness which can lead to a desire for redemption in aspiration of fulfilling what was lost. In the beginning of the song, Jules discusses the element of the futility of life. Jules states that people awake Bright and early for their daily races // Going nowhere, which suggests the idea that individuals have a tendency to face society lacking any purpose or fulfillment. Likewise, King Learprovides insights regarding the loss of hope in Gloucester, who exclaims that he does not want to go any further, when Cordelia s army lost the battle ... • 27. Modern Dance, By Miriam Giguere Contemporary dance was developed in the early 20th century as a movement against the rigid technique of ballet (Blackfish Arts Acadamy, 2006). Using the natural lines of the body to create new movements, the contemporary dance style usually has more fluidity than that of conventional dance styles (Freeman, 2013). In the book Beginning Modern Dance, Miriam Giguere says The function of dance is communication. . . . By communication is not meant to tell a story or to project an idea, but to communicate experience by means of action . . . out of this came a different use of the body as an instrument, as the violin is an instrument. Body is the basic instrument, intuitive, instinctive. As a result an entirely contemporary set of technics was evolved. (Giguere, 2014). A forerunner in the changing face of modern dance was choreographer and performer Martha Graham. Graham took up dance at the age of 22, during the time when women were fighting for the right to vote (Mapes, 2013). Being both shorter and older than most dancers, Graham had to use her body in a different way to the others at the Denishawn School of dance. This went against all of the principles that female dancers had originally been taught (Mapes, 2013). The prosecution s theory of the case as they outlined in their opening statement was the Zimmerman suffered no serious injury in the fight and that he was a liar and a wanna be cop who concluded, with little evidence to support it, that Trayvon was someone who was about to commit a crime in his neighborhood . The defense s theory of the case was that Trayvon sucker punched and struck Zimmerman s head against the ground. However, during the late 1800s and early 1900s, important leaders of American industry arose, essentially transforming the American financial system from chaos to efficiency. These powerful men shaped America into a world superpower and the country s economy sparked jealous across the globe. Their contributions to business positively affected not only the United States economy, but society as well. His goal was to spread efficiency and organization throughout every company he owned and operated. Through Rockefeller s efforts, the chaos of the oil industry was transformed into order and stability. His influence in this industry led to the creation of a myriad of products for the public which only bettered their ways of life. Similar to Carnegie, Rockefeller also fostered lower prices for oil, making light cheap and available to the public as the oil was mainly utilized in kerosene lamps. His Standard Oil Company served as precursor of America s economic success both at home and on an international level. Morgan, along with Carnegie and Rockefeller, worked to make the American economy organized and systematic. In fact, Morgan effectively bailed out the American financial system two times. At one point, the U.S. Treasury seemed on the brink of failure as it didn t have enough gold in reserve to meet its bills (27). J.P. Morgan provided the nation with $62 million, saving the American economy. Later on, the nation faced a financial problem, so destructive that it could have led to a depression. The situation was so horrific that a trust company nearly collapsed, which would have promoted widespread panic. • 31. A Study of Religious Healthcare Religious Healthcare Introduction Religious healthcare came up with the different religions in the United States of America. The Roman Catholic churches were the first to come up with these systems. Their intentions were to reach out to the poor who did not have medical covers. The church penetrated to the remote areas and they were able to put up dispensaries and also offer in house treatments. In their programs, they included the nutrition education to the people and also the need for physical fitness. The religion was very influential to the society and their services were received with open hands. Their medical facility was affordable with quality medication. They provided food supplements to the malnourished and also issued food stamps to the needy. With the changing society, religion healthcare became popular and research showed that it is even more popular than any of their competitors (Pearce, 2005). In the United States, Healthcare has been affected by many changes in the clinical practice. The social and institutional lives have also affected the systems. The religion sector has come up with clinics that have lower rates than the general hospitals hence most patients are comfortable attending those clinics. Religion has taken major impact on its followers despite the changes in the society. The healthcare system has had its challenges and needs improvements on some areas (Tollefsen, 2007). In the letter he accuses Newsweek of printing false reports concerning his life, and this has created a great deal of confusion and stress to him and the family members. He finishes by asking the Newsweek to respect his privacy. The allegation made on Mr. Nakamoto is not justifiable in any sense since he personally denied being involved in the programming and invention of the bitcoin technology. The magazine is seen to have developed its own thesis on the programmer s identity by matching Nakamoto s name and career to the alleged creator of the digital currency system. He even argues out that he never heard the term Bitcoin until his son told him. The reporter goes ahead to his home even after noticing Mr. Nakamoto s character of not being social to the public. In the story he is described to be a man with few words and very intelligent. The initial program document carried the name of Satoshi Nakamoto, and because the author chose to remain private and anonymous, it had been widely assumed the name to be a pseudonym. • 34. The Disappearance Of The Lost Colony In 1587, one hundred ten people, including seventeen women and nine children, sailed from Plymouth, England, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I to start a new life on the Outer Banks. This colony of over one hundred people disappeared from the Roanoke Island region, never to be seen again (Kramer 2). For over 400 years, historians and archeologists have attempted to determine what happened. Although there are several popular theories regarding the disappearance of the Lost Colony, the theory with the most evidence for being accurate is the migration theory. The two previous expeditions that had been sent to this region by Sir Walter Raleigh had been unsuccessful in establishing a settlement. The first group had simply returned to England. The second group had left fifteen men to stay on the island to start a colony. The third group had expected to find these men when they arrived, but the logs of Fort Raleigh had been pulled down. One corpse was found and it became clear that the destiny of the others was not good, and none had survived ( The Lost Colony of Roanoke 2). Prior to their departure from England in1587, the third group of colonists was misled about the area they were sent to. The previous expedition had compared Roanoke to the Garden of Eden saying, The earth bringeth forth all things in abundance, as in the first creation, without toil or labor. • 37. Upper Class And Social Class Body Social class profoundly affects an individual s academic achievement in school. In this case, social class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further influences their future both academically and professionally. Empirical evidence suggests that individuals/students attending college/university from a lower social class face difficulties when socially integrating into the school system leading to higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and Aelenei, 2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher social class tend to succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college, high academic performance rates, etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that an obvious sociocultural difference continues to persist among individuals who belong to different social classes. Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating into the schooling system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often have parents who reinforce educational topics such as politics, world news, history, etc. within the home. This is supported by findings which indicate that one of the factors related to success among upper class students is their access to cultural capital (Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also important to take into consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with college/university degrees in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sandler then observes the dependency humans have on technology. Sandler s example of this is cancer research as opposed malaria treatment, which is more prevalent in third world countries, while neither project has a negative outcome. His second idea of value sensitive design is listed as defining success and how technology can have different types of success. Sandler says that definition of success must be defined clearly first off. The example that Sandler uses is the One Laptop Per Child initiative, which was to get underprivileged kids a laptop for less than $100. Although the original program failed, it lead to the $75 One Tablet per Child program, so it may be considered a success. Sandler s third concept of value sensitive design is means and byproducts, which delves into how many technologies have unintended byproducts, and how the ends don t always justify the means. One tool that he explains is the Life Cycle Assessment, which tracks a technology through its life to observe the pros and cons it will have on society. Sandler then explores how nanotechnology may seem ideal at first glance, but leaves a lot of room for privacy issues. • 46. The Importance Of The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was a time of great change throughout the world. The industrial revolution occurred in the late 18th century and first began in Great Britain and soon expanded into Western Europe and to the united states. This period caused a great impact on the Catholic church and it changed the way the world manufactured resources. Unfortunately, there was a decline in the importance of religion to people as they moved towards urbanisation. This caused Pope Leo XIIIto enforce the Catholic social teachings through the encyclicalhe wrote which was called Rerum Novarum( revolutionary change ). In the encyclical, Pope Leo examined the situation of the poor people and the workers in industrialised countries. He then formed seven important principals that would guide the response. Industrialisation may have brought about many positive outcomes such as the increased amount and variety of goods manufactured and improved standards of living (for some people). However with all these benefits, there has been a result of grim employment and living conditions for the poor and working class, in summary, the wealthier got wealthier and the poorer got poorer. The Pope (Pope Leo XII) at the time wrote an encyclical called Rerum Novarum which was published on May 15th 1891, and was aimed to address the social issues and question the loss of wealth of the working class. • 50. The Benefits Of Tailored Mentoring Introduction Mentoring is an excellent way to teach students about any subject. Whether it s math, science, social studies, art, or literature, being a mentor is a satisfying feeling. For a mentee who struggles with particular subjects, they might want to consider getting a mentor. The biggest challenge is having a student that is gifted can be a frustrating and counterproductive use of time. Science and psychologists have studied effective ways to teach gifted students through tailored mentoring programs. They have shown to be successful, but there are a lot of questions why it is so successful. Finding the answers is beneficial to both the mentor and the mentee, so they re on the same page. What is Tailored Peer Mentoring? Tailored peer mentoring is a program that is designed to help a gifted student learn, based on their needs. Depending on what the student needs, the mentorship should teach in a certain manner so the gifted student understands. While it is not a common form of mentorship, tailoring a program based on the student has started to gain traction. It s well known that not everyone learns at the same rate, but by forming a program that will help them learn at their own pace. It s important that a mentor shows patience and knows how to work with different gifted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could be that the mentor is explaining things in a way that a gifted student understands the material. Perhaps the mentor makes the gifted student feel more comfortable and asking more insightful questions about the material. Considering there are four effective learning processes, perhaps a mentor is better at teaching those Big Four learning processes. Students who do receive tailored peer mentoring have a chance to learn subjects at their own pace, instead of trying to keep up with the rest of the class, which can also be a factor in the success ... • 51. Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir Essay Maltese Falcon as a Film Noir Film Noir is a French word which means: dark or black film. This is very fitting as Film Noir and the Maltese falcon are stories of dark deceptive people who often cannot be trusted. Film Noir is a good example of this as the story is about a detective called Sam Spade who gets dragged into the quest for the Maltese Falcon with a compulsive liar Kasper Gutman. The Maltese Falcon is a large bird made of solid gold worth millions. The main six conventions of Film Noir as I can see are The plot, lighting , dialogue, body language, stock characters and camera angles. The film is about a group of 5 people fighting to find and keep the golden jewel encrusted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the shot Spade is on the right and Bridgid on the left. Spade is wearing a hat, the light is projected so that the shadow covers his eyes. Eyes often show how a person is really feeling, with these hidden Spade looks as he is the bad deceptive one, this is another twist to the plot. O Shaughnessy is on the left, the light on her face is very different. Her face is lit up so her whole face is visible, her eyes are large and she looks very innocent. Light is often projected on the females faces as to make them look vulnerable and truthful, when is this instance Bridgid is the opposite. Another example is when Spade is being questioned by two investigators, in this scene Spade sits in the middle of them both so his face is visible but only the back of the other two investigators. There is only one lamp in this frame and all the rays are focused on Spade, this as with the others makes him look innocent, which in this case he is, but with the twists you are not sure. Outdoor lighting is quite similar, outside scenes are usually lit by headlights and street lamps. A scene outside is a good place for someone to hide as the beam of light is often focused on one direct spot. A good example is when Miles Archer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Whomever Invictus Meaning Invictus provides a message I can relate to. It doesn t detract from the philosophy that I ve developed over the past couple of tumultuous years. In fact, Invictus adds to my developing theory on how to persevere and live. It inspires me to keep going on my own path despite any negative outside influence. Two years ago, I sat alone in my house alone, wanting to go outside. I didn t have any friends to speak of, and I hadn t stepped outside in two days. Those were the most painful days, and years that I have ever lived through. While I cannot say I did not wince nor cry aloud, I can most definitely say I had my share of long days. I consume this poem in my blackest of night and my darkest of days. Whomever Invictus describes, I d like to think it the human race a whole, is struggling and fighting on in a manner that is not at all foreign to me. Chance has bludgeoned me until I ve felt numb some days.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poem is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring pieces I have ever read and preaches a message of prosperity that is rare amongst anything that I have access on a daily basis. The conviction that I feel and the perseverance that I exhibit are greatly complimented by the words of Invictus, specifically the implication that the soul is unconquerable. The conclusion that we ll be fine, often realized in the middle of a losing battle, is what Invictus reassure me is true. The fact that the poem opens with thanks to the gods for resilience, only to reel on describing countless intangible terrors, and horrors, is calming. The opening stanza is something akin to a calm before a storm. And in reality, this calm always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Nt1310 Unit 5 Report The receiving coil was connected in parallel to the coupling capacitors of 100nF. These capacitors helps the coils to improve coupling co efficient. Fig 4 Receiving end In fig. 4, the AC signal from the coil is passed through a Cockroft Walton (CW) voltage multiplier. A CW multiplier generates a high DC voltage from a low voltage AC. Hence, it can rectify the received AC voltage, as well as, step up the relatively low voltage. This is a classic multistage diode/capacitor voltage multiplier, which is economically efficient at the same time. The stages can be increased or decreased with ease to get desired output. The final voltage output of the stages, where N is the number of stages Vo=2NVp=NVpp.............. (4) This DC... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Very high resistance value is required to attain the 5V DC output using this regulator. Although, similar topologies using MAX756 or MAX757 IC might be an optimum solution to this problem. It steps up voltage within 0.7V 5.5V to 2.7V 5.5V [11]. MAX757 can be adjustment according to the requirement, whereas MAX756 gives fixed 5V DC output. Fig 7 A 5V DC boost regulator using MAX757 IC In future, this system can be built within the phones and thus no external device will be required to enjoy its service. The coil can be built using PCB boards which can be installed within the mobile phones. Two such phones will then be able to share the power within them using this technology. VIII. CONCLUSION In this paper, we have described a mechanism to transfer a low power DC voltage from one mobile to another for the purpose of charging the phone. We have dealt with coupling coils and their resonance. Colpitts Oscillator, Full Bridge Rectifier and Voltage Regulator circuits have been implemented. This project gives us a new and convenient option of recharging our phones at times when charging from a phone remains the only option because of the lack of having proper charging outlets. This simple idea is a feasible and inexpensive one for mobile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Immersion Reflection Paper A recent experience of mine that has made a significant impact on who I am today would be my joining of open immersion. Immersion has always been a tradition of my school, Assumption College, for many years. This became one of many reasons why I decided that I d like to take part of this tradition before I graduate and leave my more than a decade long alma mater. I also chose to volunteer because I saw this as a good opportunity to render communityservice and fulfill my social responsibility as a student in the Assumption community. However, I had underestimated how this journey would impact my own identity. I entered this odyssey without much prior knowledge on what would happen and what exactly we would be doing. The immersion took place in the small community in Barrio Obrero, Iloilo. Our volunteer group, consisting of only five high school students and a couple of teacher chaperones, was based in a public learning center called the Assumption Socio Educational Center (ASEC), which was founded by the Assumption community many years ago. Our first activity during our immersion was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of our assigned tasks was to repaint the playground. It was difficult to repaint the playground under the scorching sun, and the paint fumes were also a factor that made this hard for us. But after we ve done our part for this task, we were assigned to help out in the school s bookstore, wherein we covered notebooks in plastic wrap. It seemed to be a menial task, but it was an enjoyable afternoon. We were able to interact with the bookstore workers there and learn more about the community while we did the task. The workers, like many of the other members of their community, lived very simple lives, and yet seemed to be happy and content with what they have and what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While speaking with this unidentified audience, he uses the pronoun you until the completion of the intended audience is identified. This immediately tells the audience that the Duchess isn t alive anymore and the Dukedoesn t stop and think for a minute. After making his statement, he proceeds to boast about who the painter was by saying his name more than once. This demonstrates his detachment as well as his selfishness.
