Stereotypes Of Wonder Women
In what ways does Pattie Jenkins 2017 Wonder Woman eschew superhero stereotypes and present a
strong female narrative?
Although superhero movies have become some of the most popular and successful movie instalments
of the 21st century most of these movies have been about men and focused on their trials and triumphs
while also creating and perpetrating negative stereotypes of women. The female superhero movie falls
into one of three categories: the victim, the tomboy and the bombshell. In the first category the victim
constantly finds herself at the centre of trouble and requires the main man in the movie to swoop in
and save her, she is a passive and weak character. The bombshell tends to be highly sexualised,
wearing tight clothes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The male characters in the movie support and help Diana but at no point do they overshadow her or
make her rely on them. Steve Trevor is given his own storyline, important in its own right but never
more important than Diana s quest. Diana declares herself independent from the beginning of her
journey, flirting with Steve but also putting him in his place, They came to the conclusion that men are
essential for procreation, but when it comes to pleasure... unnecessary. Right from the beginning
Diana is on her own journey, separate to that of the male characters, and she is able to rely on her own
strength. Although Steve Trevor is constantly urging Diana to avoid danger and risks, she frequently
ignores him, placing other people s safety above her own and defending other s, not being defended, I
will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. 1 Diana proves her independence and strength
repeatedly throughout the film, leading men into battle, running through No Man s Land and attacking
soldier s terrorising a town, always despite being urged into safety by her male counterparts. I cannot
stand by while innocent lives are lost! 1 Gal Gadot s characterisation of Diana also circumnavigates
the victim stereotype, Diana s innocence and naiveté of the world of man never overshadowing the
strength and power she constantly evokes, her walk

A Reflection On What Makes A Socially Intelligent Leader
In this paper, I will be writing a final reflection on what makes a socially intelligent leader. This will
include a reflection on the article called, Social Intelligence and the Biology of Leadership written by
Daniel Goleman and Richard Boyatzis. Additionally, I will identify my personal top ten leader
attributes and describe them. Lastly, I will discuss my plan for further self development to align
myself better with my leader attributes.
Goleman and Boyatzis write, ...certain things leaders do specifically, exhibit empathy and become
attuned to others moods literally affect both their own brain chemistry and that of their followers (p.
76). This is a finding from research that shows how individual minds combine together to work as a
single system. This means that people who are great leaders have the ability to act with a behavior that
has an influential force on brain interconnectedness. Furthermore, being a leader is more about
developing an interest in people that will nurture positive feelings in them. This will lead them to
provide better cooperation and support back to the leader (Goleman Boyatzis, 2008, p. 76).
A typically leader is thought of a person who is in charge, controls others, assigns tasks, deadlines, and
often is not respected by peers because they are harsh and demanding. This type of leadership is often
unproductive both for the leader and the followers. They do not have a team environment and often
only trying to what is needed to just

Essay on Ethics of Earnings Management
I enjoyed the conversation on GAAP and earnings management relating to the case Be Careful What
You Wish For: From the Middle . The conversation was brief, but got me thinking on the ethics of
earnings management. GAAP accounting is to reflect in good faith the company s actual financial
status and present reality as is. It is not to present a manipulated set of numbers that paint a pretty
picture. GAAP requires recording of revenue when there is persuasive evidence of an arrangement,
assurance of collectability, a fixed or determinable price, and delivery. If Sarah recognizes revenue
before delivery, she would violate GAAP and partake in channel stuffing. It would not be earnings
management. In my opinion, there is a fine line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although her actions would not violate GAAP, it would allow revenue to be manipulated to paint a
pretty picture for third party users. I feel earnings management is saying, I know what the ending
needs to be. What can I do to achieve this end? What loophole exists? Ultimately, if there is intent to
deceive, I believe earnings management is unethical. The case Is This My Place?...Speaking UP has
been the hardest for me. I have found it difficult to decide what I would do if I were in Ben s situation.
I know it is wrong for donors to inflate the value of their donations, but I would be afraid to say
anything out of fear they might stop donating to the organization. Knowing my manager was aware of
the overstated donations and did not care would make matters worse. Unless I had a clear plan to
present to him, I would remain quiet. If donations stopped, individuals in need of medical supplies
would suffer. In weighing the options, I see the pros and cons of each side. By letting donors continue
to overstate donation amounts, donors remain happy, the organization continues to receive donations,
and those in need benefit. On the other hand, if someone does not put a stop to the overstatements,
they could continue indefinitely and grow bigger over time. Additionally, if the IRS were to find out,
the not for profit s reputation would be tainted and donors

Overview of Darden Restaurants
Darden Company Analysis
Part A. Operations/Supply Chain Strategy
Darden Restaurants
, founded in 1968, is the largest full service dining restaurant company in the world. It is
headquartered in Orlando, Florida, but serves the global market with the brands of Olive Garden, Red
Lobster, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, Capital Grille, and the Long Horn Steakhouse Chain. The
company boasted close to $8 billion in 2012 revenue, with a net income of $475 million. It has
180,000 employees and almost $6 billion in total assets (www.darden.com).
Darden has four supply channels: smallware (restaurant supplies); frozen/dry canned products, fresh
food, and seafood. The common features of the supply channel management are the qualification of
the supplier, product tracking, global sourcing, independent audits of suppliers and the ability to
manage just in time inventory.
Part B. Supplier Relationship and Structure
Darden takes its suppliers very seriously, prior to doing business, the supplier must be qualified and a
Total Quality Management Team assigned to that vendor. Product tracking occurs with inspection
teams that identify the lot ID, atmospheric packaging, and the ability to track the order from origin to
receipt of goods. For their many restaurants, Darden structures its supplies from 5 continents and
thousands of suppliers, but insists on independent and accurate assessments in order to maintain
relationships. Everything must be JIT inventory except smallware.

The And Heat And Humidity Essay
1979 Parris Island, June, July, August and the blanket of sand flea s heat and humidity.
I could say the humidity and heat were not very pleasant especially combined with the work involved
in being a recruit in the Marine Corps at Parris Island in June, July and August. But the heat and
humidity combined with the day to day intimate relationship shared with the noble sand flea was far
worse at times, lol, them bastards certainly did not help. I would bet the noble sand flea has caused
countless recruits to call it quits, I could not doubt that as I have been partially eaten by them myself.
The DI s used to say that you will leave so much sweat in the ground at Parris Island that you will
always own part of it. They forgot to mention the flesh the sand fleas took from us.
Although the heat and humidity did not hamper my ability to hang, it was extremely uncomfortable at
times to say the least. Being flea bitten, yelled at and tortured in the pit, the grass, the mud, the beach
or in the barracks on the quarter deck did not help the situation either. I did not find it bad enough to
hinder me in doing what I was told to do. But, there were a few times it was so intense that unless you
were there, you would not believe how hot, humid and flea ridden Parris Island really was. There were
many things I was told in the Marine Corps, and to my horror they were true.

Events In Pride And Prejudice Essay
What is so important about the events that happen, but at the same time they do not, like when it only
happens in a character s head? Jane Austen has a good way of making the things that happen in a
character s head seem as if they are important, major events. It is like when Lizzy reads the letter from
Darcy after the rejection of his proposal or the reaction from the Bennet s learning of the news of
Lydia and even when Lady Catherine and the way she reacts to Lizzy when she thinks Darcy had
proposed to Lizzy. These are all events that happen inside a character s head more or less and help
shape the rest of the story without anything major happening. The events that happen mentally, like
when the characters are reacting to something or reading a letter, those are just as important as the
ones which can actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Politics And Politics In Shakespeare
Shakespeare treats politics and politicians in a derogatory way as we can see that Lear sees them as
being abject tricksters and Hamlet thinks that they are evading God. The first political manual was
Machiavelli`s The Prince believed to written in 1513 and it set the way people viewed politics and
politicians, which was impossible to be a favorably way. His pragmatic book exhibits the
consolidation of power and the gain of it, and also promotes the idea that politicians would do just
about anything in their power to secure a strong state. The Prince describes what men do, and it was
banned by the Tudor politicians because it promoted politics in a vicious way. Richard III is the
vicious he pursues Lady Anne in a brassy way as she was grieving after her husband, Prince Edward,

Similarities Between Achaemenid And Greek Empires
The Achaemenid Empire was one of the strongest empires in Southwest Asia during the first
millennium B.C.E. Courageous and skilled Persian conquerors allowed Persian rule to spread beyond
Persian territory, creating one of the largest early empires (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). However, across the
Mediterranean Sea was dwelled a more advanced empire with a stronger military, the Greeks (Dunn
Mitchell, 2014). These prominent early empires possessed many similarities and held the ultimate goal
of building and maintaining an advanced empire and society. Yet, their Southwestern and Afro
Eurasian cultures consisted of several different beliefs and ways of life. The 5th and 6th century B.C.E
polytheistic Greek traditions tremendously differed from the religion of the Achaemenid Empire,
which believed solely in Ahu Mazda, the supreme god (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). The political structures
of the Achaemenid and Greek Empires were also vastly dissimilar, unlike the united Achammenid
Empire; Greece consisted of several poleis (city states) (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). The ... Show more

aristocrats held the royal and high positions (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). Governing officials called

Mitchell, 2014). Unlike the Greek Empire, the Achamenid dynasty was unified under one emperor.
However, the emperor and his entourage moved throughout Persia, thus there was no specific capital
(Dunn Mitchell, 2014). Dunn Mitchell (2014) found that the Persian Empire was a funnel of trade .
Their early popularity and dominance among Southwestern territory resulted in their universal mission
to rule the world (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). The Persians were one of the first among many to have this

Spirituality Essay
Spirituality can have many different definitions, depending on who is asked. It can be something as
simple as looking for a higher meaning to life, or something so complex that one can base their
beliefs, religion and overall life around it. There are several different ways to express one s
spirituality; rituals, songs, dances, stories, and writings are all common methods of expression.
Spirituality can be found in almost anything. Finding spirituality in something can make someone feel
enlightened and bring strong emotion and deep feeling. In some cases, people would be willing to
sacrifice nearly anything to help maintain the integrity of what they find to be spiritual. The earth is

Their spirituality is heavily influenced by nature. David Suzuki may very well be the most popular
scientist in all of Canada. In his book The Sacred Balance, Suzuki discusses his view that people and
the earth are all made of the same things and therefore we both need the same elements to survive:
earth, air, fire and water. For humans to lead rich lives, Suzuki also adds love and spirit to the list. In
the introduction to The Sacred Balance, Suzuki interviews a Haida Gwaii artist named Guujaaw about
the battle over clear cut logging in his native Queen Charlotte Islands. Although the logging industry
in the islands generated several much needed jobs, many of the Haida were opposed to it. Guujaaw
stated that after the trees were all gone, his people would be just like everybody else, and they would
not be Haida anymore. The fact that somebody would feel so connected with the trees, to include them
in their identity proves that spirituality can be found in nature. For Gujarat s people the trees, the birds,
the fish, the water, the wind are all parts of the Haida identity. Their land, and everything on it, means
so much to the Haida people that they would be willing to sacrifice jobs and economy to keep the
integrity of their culture, history, and the land that is all a part of their identity. Joy Williams is an

Crime And Crime Essay
Before the twentieth century, explaining crime followed Darwin, and Lumbroso s idea that criminals
were biologically inferior. But with the development of the industry and the urbanization of the late
1800s and 1900s, the Progressive movement arose, arguing that crime was a social product. It was not
the individual and its biologically inferior traits that would cause him to commit crime, it is rather the
environment that causes people to commit crime. That was the beginning of the Chicago School.
Because Chicago witnessed a rapid social change due to industrialization and the sudden urbanization
and mass population shift, it became the prime choice to study how social change impacted criminal
conduct. Researchers at the University of Chicago believed that crime would be best understood by
looking at neighborhood characteristics. Shaw and McKay (1929) were influenced by the Chicago
School in that they asked the question does it make a difference if a child grows up in an inner city
community affected by ethnic heterogeneity, poverty, and social mobility? The question led to shifting
the focus of what causes crime from an individual perspective to a social, environmental perspective.
Thus, when studying delinquency and crime, Shaw and McKay (1929) and Burgess (1967) argued that
neighborhoods may be the contributing factors to crime and not the individual. Shaw and McKay
(1929) hypothesized that delinquency would be higher in areas where social disorganization (i.e.

Charter Of Rights
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a bill of rights which is a part of the Constitution of
Canada, forming the first part of the 1982 Constitution Act. In general, it guarantees Canadian citizens
and residents fundamental freedoms, democratic rights, mobility rights, legal rights and equality rights
within reasonable limits. The Constitution Act (1982), of which included the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms, was pushed by Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau in 1980 in order to enact the British
North America Act (1867) as well as the Bill of Rights (1960). The enactment of the British North

This, in turn, allows us to ensure that the rights of individuals are respected and that it can be protected
in court. Given that rights and freedoms have been protected in Charters in most countries for decades,
if not centuries, it is safe to say that we take these rights for granted. We have grown in a society that
always respects one s rights and freedoms, that we believe that it is the norm, rather than appreciating
that it is something that a privileged society has. I, too have taken these rights for granted, however, by
learning about the limited rights and freedoms offered in a sovereign country, North Korea, I have
learned to appreciate these rights. Through watching the documentaries, I had learned that rights and
freedoms in our Charter that we see as fundamental are not present in various countries such as North
Korea. Given this, I have come to realize how lucky I am to have these rights that are protected by a
Charter and begun to appreciate having these rights. Citizens can protect their Charter rights by
learning specifically what rights and freedoms are protected in order to present to other their
constitutional rights should they try to violate them. As well, if the rights are violated, citizens can
take a case to court in order to be compensated for the violation.

The Theory Of Sexual Orientation
Chapter 9 looks at sexuality and how it is perceived around the world. It analyzes how each unique
culture recognizes homosexuality, heterosexuality, and bisexuality as a whole. It uses this information
to formulate facts, opinions, and ideas in regard to all three of these concepts.
This chapter considers gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. All three of these
definitions have to do with how we classify ourselves, not how society classifies us. Thus, we should
have the freedom to decide what makes us happy, we should not have to conform to societies beliefs.
There are five different theories of sexual orientation that are examined and discussed in this chapter. I
think it is important to consider each theory and understand why they were created. The first being the
structural functionalist perspective focuses on having safe heterosexual relationships without cheating
to ensure safe child rearing and a regular family dynamic for the child to grow up in (300). The second
being the conflict perspective focuses on the power difference between the straight individuals and all
the members of the LGBT community. The straight individuals are seen as more powerful because
they are the norm meaning that are the dominant group. The LGBT community is the community with
the least amount of power, especially in 1973 when being gay was considered a mental illness or
mental disorder (301). The third being the symbolic interactionist perspective which focuses

Twelve. The age where boys around the world go to junior high for the first time. The age where some
boys have braces on their crooked teeth. The age where the voice of some boys becomes deeper.
Twelve for me means none of that. Twelve marks the year when a member of the Nazi party could
knock on our door and take me away. Twelve marks the age that I might never see my family again.
Growing up with the frenzy of the war outside my bedroom window seized my childish qualities and
innocence away from me. I do not have the option to play in the street like the others. I cannot
casually walk in the Berlin plaza freely, as it seems that every five seconds a Nazi soldier stops to
question me. I have seen guiltless people shot to death on the sidewalk by ruthless soldiers under
Adolf Hitler s command. I have seen brainwashed boys that I used to go to school with do the dirty
work for Hitler. I have seen things that the little boys and girls in America have not even seen in their
nightmares.
Being only eleven years old, I cannot remember the day my older brother went with the soldiers. They
took him to a camp in order to train in order to be like them. I really only know what my parents told
me, and they don t know that much either. The whole situation still remains a conundrum, and now it
seems that my brother became like those before him, cold and lifeless.

Greed, Exploitation, And Division Of The Black Class
As Pope Benedict XVI famously stated, Our world has grown weary of greed, exploitation and
division, of the tedium of false idols and piecemeal responses, and the pain of false promises. His
ideas are especially true in modern society. Greed refers to the intense desire for something,
particularly wealth and power. The desire for materialism has acted as a catalyst for greed to become
prevalent in society, especially in the United States of America. The presence of greed in the upper
class dates back to as early as the 1820 s when wealthy oil businessmen exploited sailors into working
in extremely dangerous conditions for their own self interest (Philbrick). The greed present in the
wealthiest families in the nation has established a detrimental division between the wealthy and the
poor. The gap is only growing further and further apart, as greed constructs the desire for the rich to
become richer resulting in the poor becoming poorer (JBW). As of right now, the United States has the
worst income equality out of all the developed countries in the world (Gongloff).
Unfortunately, we don t have enough people in our federal government looking for opportunities to
change our ways. The laws present in our government don t do enough in preventing the wealth gap in
our nation from increasing; in fact, since President Obama took office in 2008, the top 1% of our
country reels in 90% of all income gains (Hill). As a nation and a people, we must elect members

what we want? Are we bias because of what society portrays or do we focus on what our culture has

to love and marriage and go off of what society portrays. When it comes to the topic of mate

As I believe in marriage and everything about it, the couple must have time for each other or they will
end up only focusing on the kids and loose interest in each other. We see it often in the headlines of
famous people who get married, have kids and live a happy life, like the Obamas, but on the other
hand we see others like the Why Marriage Matters article states with Jon and Kate. They were
married, had eight kids, but ended up divorcing. It is very important that we choose our mates
carefully and realize that marriage is for the children and their stability but also most importantly for
the two people that love each other. Because I believe that people should choose their mates carefully,
work at it, and not get a divorce, is why I like Flanagan s ideas more than Small s.
I have always believed that opposites attract, On the other hand, Small beliefs are that we are drawn to
people who are similar to us and should marry someone who is just like we are. On page 153 she

Essay on Communicating Leadership
Leadership, Traditional versus Transformational
What should a leader look like? Important leaders, such as presidents and prime ministers, work hard
communicate an impression of confidence and power. A leader, they assume, should look like a leader,
and many of them hire an image specialist to learn how. Wherever they go, press agents, bodyguards,
loyal assistants, and throngs of eager admirers follow in their wake. In the Bible, Matthew depicts
Jesus as a true leader, a king in fact, however one who broke stereotypes. Jesus had undeniable power
and he was not concerned about a powerful image. The Word of Matthew 13:54 55 tells us, Where did

There are many definitions and interpretations of traditional or transformational communicating
leadership. The text book definition for traditional viewpoint of management offers this, The oldest
and perhaps most widely accepted view of management is the traditional viewpoint. It is split into
three main branches: bureaucratic management, scientific management, and administrative
management (Hellriegel, 2005). Studies have been made on leadership communication and
management styles since the Civil War. With many decades of research it has evolved over time to
specific categories. Traditional is still viewed today because of its long term use. God s relationship
with Moses was a traditional leadership. Moses had his doubts about his ability to lead. The Word in

to turn the fructans into fructose. Then those leaves are either shredded or mashed under a large stone
wheel and the extracted agave juice is then poured into large wooden or stainless steel vats for several
days to ferment, producing what is called a wort, or mosto, with low alcohol content. Then it can be
distilled twice; the first time it is distilled it produces what is called ordinario, and the second time
produces a clear silver tequila. The silver tequila can be bottled right away or pumped into wooden
barrels to age and develop a more mellow flavor and amber color. The flavor of the tequila will either
be sweeter and fruitier tasting or earthy depending on if the leaves were harvested from the highlands
or lowlands, respectively. The barrels are usually made from white oak originating from the US,
Canada, or France. Some companies char the barrels before aging the tequila to infuse a smoky flavor,
while others reuse barrels that were used for other liquors such as whiskey or wine. After being aged
in the barrels for at least a year, it is then transferred into stainless steel vats to

Objectives And Objectives Of The Objectives Of Financial...
Financial Inclusion is the process of ensuring access to appropriate financial products and Services
needed by all sections of the society in general and vulnerable groups such as weaker Sections and
low income groups in particular at an affordable cost in a fair and transparent manner by mainstream
institutional players.
2.1.1 OBJECTIVES OF FINANCIAL INCLUSION
Some of the objectives financial inclusion are:
1. Financial Inclusion can help the society and the economy. Financial Inclusion has the ability to
generate positive externalities. It leads to increase in savings, investment and thereby, spurs the
processes of economic growth.
2. It also provides a platform for inculcating the habit of saving money, especially amongst the lower
income category that has been living under the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Presence of banking services and products aims to provide a critical tool to inculcate the savings habit.
It also creates avenues of formal credit to the unbanked population who are otherwise dependent on
informal channels of credit like family, friends and moneylenders.
4. Availability of timely, adequate and transparent credit from formal banking channels will allow the
entrepreneurial spirit of the masses to increase outputs and prosperity in the countryside. It will open
the doors of formal remittance facilities to the low income and unbanked populace who, presently, are
forced to use all kinds of informal and costly ways of sending money from one place to another.
5. Financial Inclusion has now been viewed as a remedy to plug gaps and leaks in distribution of
government benefits and subsidies through direct benefit transfers to beneficiaries bank accounts
rather than through subsidizing products and making cash payments.
6. Thus, on the whole, Financial Inclusion has the potential to bring in the unbanked masses into the
formal banking system, channelize their savings, stoke their entrepreneurial ambitions by making
available credit and thus give a fillip to the

Churchill and Roosevelt s Speeches Attempted to Bring Hope...
In Winston Churchill s speech blood, toil, tears, and sweat , and in Franklin D. Roosevelt s The Great
Arsenal of Democracy , there are many different rhetorical devices and they use them to build an
effective argument. Both speeches were written and spoken at different times and different events
were going on when the speeches were made, but both speeches are similar in the way that they are
constructed and by the devices used in both. In their speeches both Churchill and Roosevelt tried to
bring hope to the people during the hard times that the country was going through. Winston Churchill
delivered his speech on May 13, 1940, three days after he became prime minister. In Churchill s
speech he wanted to connect with the audience on an emotional level, so he uses many different
examples of the rhetorical device pathos. For example, Churchill s famous quote I have nothing to
offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat . By saying this, he wants the people to know that, he will give all
that he has and he will give as much effort as he can and that s all that he can offer them. Another
example of pathos in the speech is when Churchill said, We have before us many, many long months
of struggle and of suffering . By saying this, Churchill uses terms such as us , struggle , and suffering
to get to the people and to show that the war cabinet crisis wouldn t be an easy thing to get though out
of the rhetorical devices ethos, pathos, and logos, Churchill uses pathos more

The Electoral College System Is Not Effective
If I had the opportunity to change the Constitution of the United States of America, I would change the
Electoral College system. Like many other Americans, I feel that the Electoral College system is not
effective. It caries a notion of the state versus the people, electors oversee a large part of the country
and is change the answer to this issue? I believe that times have changed and we need to reform the
electoral system all while not changing the constitution.
The Constitution of the United States of America created a system called the Electoral College where
it outlines the rules in which we elect the President of the United States of America. As stated in
Article 2, Section 1 of the U. S. Constitution created the Electoral College. Each state receives as
many electoral votes as it has senators and representatives. Therefore, each state, including the District
of Columbia, will have at least three electors. This is the vision of the Constitution. Now the problem
arises when all the Electoral votes from one state are given to the popular winner for that state. This
causes a with people s right to chose their leader as votes of the people that voted for the losing
candidate are tossed in the trash. All this while giving the state the ultimate power to elect the
president.
The people of the loosing party on the state votes are not worth anything they are just given to the
winner basically with the current electoral system. The system needs to be redesigned to

The Effects Of Global Warming On Health, Spatial...
Reptilian populations are under constant scrutiny from the environment. The reptilian populations rely
on close to equal sex ratios for their species to thrive. With the changing climate more and more
reptiles are at risk. This is because global warming may influence health, spatial distribution, growth,
and reproductive output (Simoncini 2014). Along with that, the change in temperature will affect the
incubation temperature, embryonic development, sex ratios, and hatchling success (Simoncini 2014).
Not only that, but global change may result in a stronger sex ratio bias, which could lead to extinction
of TSD reptiles (Hulin et al 2009). An all male or all female biased population adds more stress on a
population to survive. Scientists are concerned populations will dwindle or possibly become extinct if
reptilian species cannot adapt to climate change. Global warming will result in increased atmospheric
temperature in a short time scale and may modify several life history traits in populations (Hulin et al
2009). Reptilian species may not have the time to physically adapt to the environmental changes.
Species could overcome climate change by modification of nesting phenology or behavior (Hulin et al
2009). Some temperature dependent sex determined species may be able to compensate by nesting in
cooler areas (Refsnider 2012). Not only will temperature change affect sex ratios, but it can alter
offspring phenotypes and performance. A study was conducted to observe the effect

Job Interview Program Advantages And Disadvantages
CHAPTER 1
Introduction:
The job interview is the gateway to employment, and the ability to interview well is a skill set in itself.
Most young people who are new to the process find that they are often unsuccessful at this component
of attempting to become employed due to the fact that they are underprepared for the nuance laden
and sometimes improvisatory nature of an interview. This critical step becomes more difficult when a
young person experiences difficulties with language, comprehension and/or social deficits as many of
our student with disabilities do. According to the US Department of Labor, young people with
disabilities ages 20 24 are employed at half the rate of those without. The same subgroup are living in
poverty at twice the rate of those without disabilities according to the US Census Bureau.
Though vocational skills preparation programs exist to address these issues, they are largely
underutilized by high school aged children primarily to due to a lack of awareness that they exist, how
to find them or what purpose they serve. Students with disabilities benefit from skills preparation
programs under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) which mandates that
post secondary transition planning education and training be provided to each eligible student
beginning by age 16 and be individualized to meet each student s unique needs. This mandate is
executed differently by school district. In the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD),

The Battle Of The War
World War One was the cause of over eleven million military personnel deaths. Six million of those
came from the side of the Triple Entente, or Allies. New fighting strategies that emphasized throwing
more and more men into the fight only exacerbated the problem. Military leaders on the side of the
Allies failed to adapt and sacrificed the lives of many that could have been avoided. Based on concrete
evidence that was collected, this was a major factor in high casualty numbers during the war because
of the use of outdated tactics, pre determined mindsets of leaders, and the continued use of strategies
that were ineffective.
A popular form of war fighting was based in cavalry charges that rapidly declined in effectiveness
throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this, artillery did not have as destructive effect that the Allies wanted. This lack of
knowledge and ignorant assumptions did not account for many Allied casualties but it did not decrease
the number of enemy troops to where the Allies had an advantage (Axelrod, 94). This battle could
have been a major success for the Allies with much fewer casualties had the military leaders knew
what they were up against. Too many times during the war, tactical preparations before battles were
slim and military leaders decided to attack based on previously accurate knowledge; only to find out
that this war changed every minute and the enemy was changing as well. This military incompetence
can also be seen in the Battle of Verdun in 1916. General Pétain s plan during the battle was described
as this: Every parcel of land which might be seized by the enemy will give rise to an immediate
counter attack (Malcolm, ch 8). This bold, yet ineffective strategy allowed for hundreds of thousands
of French soldiers to lose their lives over the course of the battle. Pétain simply wanted to keep
throwing men at the Germans who were armed with much better weapons that did nothing but
increase the intensity of the war of attrition. Although the men who died on the battlefield were very
brave and committed to winning the war, they were following blind leadership. Overall, Verdun was a
strategic win but a tactical failure that only contributed to the

Shorelines Over Time
I would have to say trying to stabilize the different shorelines can possible contribute to its erosion

building a habitat somewhat artificially to help protect the shoreline. As well, someone may wish to

2.2 FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS (FANS) : 2.2.1 Introduction to FANS Future Air
Navigation Systems (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) in partnership with Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell and others in the air transport
industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of airspace. Today
FANS is used primarily in the oceanic regions taking advantage of both satellite communication and
satellite navigation to effectively create a virtual RADAR environment for safe passage of aircraft.
FANS play a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM (Communication Navigation
Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management) strategies. Today, FANS 1 is the standard used on Boeing
aircraft and Airbus standard for FANS is known as FANS A. Both standards are considered first

Corruption In I Claudius
I, Claudius is a fictional autobiography written in the voice of the fourth Roman Emperor, Tiberius
Claudius Drusus Nero Germanicus Claudius for short. The story recounts the period of the founding
of the Roman Empire to the coronation of Claudius himself; but, as seen from the perspective of
Claudius an adamant republican the Roman Empire is one that is doomed to fall, prophesied by the
Sibyl of Cumae, due to political instability and dangerous power struggles. Similar to the Roman
Empire of I, Claudius, the Britain of King Lear also falls into a state of political chaos akin to anarchy;
the sudden abdication of Lear and his senility ultimately bring about the unravelling of his family,
followers, and kingdom. The following power struggles in Rome and Britain lead to the corruption of
many individuals in their respective time periods. Both I, Claudius by Robert Graves and King Lear
by William Shakespeare, set during times of political turbulence, suggest that the competition for and
possession of power can corrupt and alter individuals and society. Both works are set in times of
political turbulence, times in which people would seize the opportunity to gain absolute power or at
least an upper hand over others. In I, Claudius, Livia, Claudius grandmother, proves to be an
incredibly ambitious woman, with the political acumen to match. Before the birth of the Roman
Empire, the Second Triumvirate, consisting of Mark Antony, Lepidus, and Octavian (at that time),

Climatic Elements Of Osamu Shashin
Fast forward to 1960 s and we have a figure who revolutionized manga and made it what modern
manga is today. This figure was named Osamu Tezuka. Before him, manga was drawn like a play,
with characters entering the left stage and the right stage. Tezuka, revolutionized this by taking his
experiences from watching German and French movies, and adding a cinematic element to his manga,
making it more movie like and dynamic. He put in more panels and more pages to create dynamic
movements and expressions. He wanted to put more emotion into his works. He wanted his manga to
portray more than just laughs, but wanted them to convey feelings of sadness, anger and hatred
(Thorn, Matt). One of his most famous works Astro Boy (1952) was one of the first manga to be
turned into anime. It first aired in 1963. From manga, anime borrowed most of the climatic elements
that Tezuka put into his manga (Zagzoug, Marwah).

The climate is very hot from May to August and rainy through the rest of the year, so the farmers have
a lot of free time to serve the king. This serving time helped make the amazing developments from the
Maya.
By far, the major innovations and skills were in astronomy. Mayan priests would consistently take
measurements using tools such as a forked stick. Using their amazing astronomical knowledge, they
were able to predict future eclipses. They were also able to chart the complex motions of the sun and
other astronomical bodies. Using this knowledge, they designed a calendar that was the most complex
and accurate of all ancient calendars. In fact, it was only 19 minutes per year off from the actual
calendar. It even contained month and week divisions. One of these months was only five days long,
called the Wayeb, and was considered unlucky.
In mathematics, the Mayans were quite intelligent. They developed a number system using a
combination of dots and bars. These dots and bars were stacked together in piles of twenty, with the
dot meaning one and the bar meaning five. They also made the original discovery of the number zero.
This is a very important development.
They also developed an advanced system of writing similar to Egyptian Hieroglyphics. They
contained over 800 signs, and each one usually represented an entire word. It was a very visual
language and the meaning of the sign reflected what it looked like. Their writing was highly

Pros And Cons Of Uncorroborated Evidence
Firstly, uncorroborated evidence reduces the rate of perpetrators escaping from conviction. It is
pertinent to note that in most of the sexual assault cases where the child is the victim, there is often
little or no physical evidence. The child and the accused are likely to be the only witnesses. Due to the
requirement of corroborated evidence, where in fact, there is none, it had undoubtedly led to many
perpetrators escaping conviction as the alleged victim, the child s evidence is not corroborated and
there was nothing else to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. With the newly implemented section
where there is no requirement of corroborated evidence, the judge has the opportunity to consider the
child s uncorroborated evidence and able to access the weight to be accorded to such evidence in the
particular case. The weight is to be attached to the evidence or testimony of the child and is to be
assessed by the trier of fact but not the rigid requirement of corroborated evidence.
Besides, without the need of corroborated evidence, it is said to be more flexible compared to
requiring the corroborated evidence. The court is such situation will consider the facts and the

prominent problem for African American males is the increase in the incarceration rate. African
American males between the ages of 25 and 29 incarceration rate has been thought, by many, to be

Decades of failed public and private remedies for chronic disparities and disadvantages in
communities of color invite us to reexamine systems and institutions that provide and restrict

Consequences
The causes seem to be intertwined being poor, equals lack of education, which equals lack of

The Five-High Cost Of The International Space Shuttle
One of the biggest reasons to change where we are exploring is how expensive space travel is. The
regular cost is about $450 million. That is a lot of money and here is the catch, that cost is only for one
launch and there have been about 130 launches. So if you do the math, we have spent about $58.5
billion on space travel. That is the total cost of all 130 space shuttle launches, but there have also been
five strong fleet launches. To build a strong fleet shuttle it takes around $1.7 billion (Thompson 1).
Those costs, though, are only covering all of the shuttles. To build and maintain over the years, the
International Space Station has cost a total of about $142 billion. If you think that is already a lot of
money, that amount isn t even adding the missions to get there and back. All of these costs are very
big for the fact that most of it is metal and thrusters that get disconnected from the ship and left in

If you even get the slightest hole in your suit, you would be deprived of air in seconds thanks to the
vacuum of space. The suits would also have to be made right to withstand the space radiation.
Radiation in space is a form of subatomic particles that can rip through your D.N.A. Many of these
dangers can be avoided if we send robots instead of humans. Another problem that could be avoided if
we sent robots is the danger of moon dust. If you do not brush off your suit before getting back on the
shuttle, the dust can become airborne and when you breathe it in it will scratch your airways and lungs
(ADMIN). The biggest and last danger of space travel is the launch and reentry. For a shuttle to get
past the atmosphere in the launch it must travel at 7 miles per second. If it doesn t it will explode just
like the Challenger did. The reentry isn t any easier. The rocket, if it isn t at the right speed and angle,
could burn up due to atmospheric

Comparing Quinceanera And We Real Cool
Quinceanera by Judith Ortiz Cofer and We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks are two poems that
describe different coming of age circumstances. Although some aspects of the poems language usage
are similar, the two poems are rather different in the aspects of narration and plot. Frankly, the two
poems are very different in their syntax and language usage. Quinceanera is very descriptive: I am to
wash my own clothes and sheets from this day on, as if the fluids of my body were poison, as if the
trickle of blood I believe travels from my heart to the world were shameful (11 16). In contrast,
Brooks is rather precise and terse with her words: We real cool. We left school (1 2). However, both
poems utilize enjambment and carry sentences

Politics Of Bad Ideas Analysis
In the The Politics of Bad Ideas, Bryan Jones and Walter Williams examine the United States
economic policies of the past quarter century and explore the policy practices of the nation, while
stressing the importance of evidence based policy. Jones, a political scientist, and Williams, an
economist, argue that the persistence of bad ideas in shaping American policy continues to exist,
despite evidence that certain policies do not work. The Politics of Bad Ideas examines why bad
economic ideas, such as cutting taxes without cutting spending, have become so influential in shaping
fiscal policies. Using in depth scholarly research and economic analysis, Jones and Williams explore
why these bad ideas continue to thrive, despite overwhelming evidence that they in fact cause damage
to the federal government s economy in the long run. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas Democrats funded their programs from taxes, the role of the government massively increased
during the George W. Bush administration as a result of borrowing as a means of funding programs.
The consequence of the Bush administration is a massive increase in the budget deficit and national
debt. Jones and Williams stress that cutting taxes has never led to increased tax revenues despite the
rhetoric from Republicans and conservatives who say they do. According to the data the authors
present, the greater the Republican control of Congress the higher the growth of spending. Thus, the
fiscal conservatives who are proponents of small government are following through with fiscal
policies that are the opposite of their ideology. In fact, George W. Bush is the second biggest spending
president since 1940s, second only to President Johnson, and discretionary spending was at its lowest
point during the Carter and Clinton

Essay On The Trail Of Tears
Along the Trail of Tears The Trail of Tears played a part in what is known as the Manifest Destiny,
which was the expansion of the colonists to the west. Gold was found on the Cherokee land during the
Georgia Gold Rush. The greed that it created was one of the leading causes of the Trail of Tears where
thousands of Native Americans were forcibly relocated from their native lands (Cherokee.org). Little
did the Native Americans realize that the new nation that was going to be forming around them would
affect not only their lives but the lives of their descendants. Even though the Cherokee made efforts to
keep their land through the court system and even attempted to assimilate to the American way of life
it was to no avail. They tried to agree to treaties with the United States Government. Even though,
they were eventually forced to leave their lands. By forcing the Native Americans to abandon their
homes, robbing their lands, taking their freedom, and forcing them to adapt and to assimilate into a
new land and culture showed how vindictive President Andrew Jackson was regarding the Native
Americans. The Trail of Tears was an instance of the United States Government committing genocide
against the Native Americans
Until 1828, the federal government agreed that Cherokee had rights to their land, but when Andrew
Jackson was elected President, that all ended. Jackson refused to believe that the tribes were sovereign
and thus viewed Indian treaties, as an absurdity

  • 2. Stereotypes Of Wonder Women In what ways does Pattie Jenkins 2017 Wonder Woman eschew superhero stereotypes and present a strong female narrative? Although superhero movies have become some of the most popular and successful movie instalments of the 21st century most of these movies have been about men and focused on their trials and triumphs while also creating and perpetrating negative stereotypes of women. The female superhero movie falls into one of three categories: the victim, the tomboy and the bombshell. In the first category the victim constantly finds herself at the centre of trouble and requires the main man in the movie to swoop in and save her, she is a passive and weak character. The bombshell tends to be highly sexualised, wearing tight clothes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The male characters in the movie support and help Diana but at no point do they overshadow her or make her rely on them. Steve Trevor is given his own storyline, important in its own right but never more important than Diana s quest. Diana declares herself independent from the beginning of her journey, flirting with Steve but also putting him in his place, They came to the conclusion that men are essential for procreation, but when it comes to pleasure... unnecessary. Right from the beginning Diana is on her own journey, separate to that of the male characters, and she is able to rely on her own strength. Although Steve Trevor is constantly urging Diana to avoid danger and risks, she frequently ignores him, placing other people s safety above her own and defending other s, not being defended, I will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. 1 Diana proves her independence and strength repeatedly throughout the film, leading men into battle, running through No Man s Land and attacking soldier s terrorising a town, always despite being urged into safety by her male counterparts. I cannot stand by while innocent lives are lost! 1 Gal Gadot s characterisation of Diana also circumnavigates the victim stereotype, Diana s innocence and naiveté of the world of man never overshadowing the strength and power she constantly evokes, her walk ... • 3. A Reflection On What Makes A Socially Intelligent Leader In this paper, I will be writing a final reflection on what makes a socially intelligent leader. This will include a reflection on the article called, Social Intelligence and the Biology of Leadership written by Daniel Goleman and Richard Boyatzis. Additionally, I will identify my personal top ten leader attributes and describe them. Lastly, I will discuss my plan for further self development to align myself better with my leader attributes. Goleman and Boyatzis write, ...certain things leaders do specifically, exhibit empathy and become attuned to others moods literally affect both their own brain chemistry and that of their followers (p. 76). This is a finding from research that shows how individual minds combine together to work as a single system. This means that people who are great leaders have the ability to act with a behavior that has an influential force on brain interconnectedness. Furthermore, being a leader is more about developing an interest in people that will nurture positive feelings in them. This will lead them to provide better cooperation and support back to the leader (Goleman Boyatzis, 2008, p. 76). A typically leader is thought of a person who is in charge, controls others, assigns tasks, deadlines, and often is not respected by peers because they are harsh and demanding. This type of leadership is often unproductive both for the leader and the followers. They do not have a team environment and often only trying to what is needed to just ... • 4. Essay on Ethics of Earnings Management I enjoyed the conversation on GAAP and earnings management relating to the case Be Careful What You Wish For: From the Middle . The conversation was brief, but got me thinking on the ethics of earnings management. GAAP accounting is to reflect in good faith the company s actual financial status and present reality as is. It is not to present a manipulated set of numbers that paint a pretty picture. GAAP requires recording of revenue when there is persuasive evidence of an arrangement, assurance of collectability, a fixed or determinable price, and delivery. If Sarah recognizes revenue before delivery, she would violate GAAP and partake in channel stuffing. It would not be earnings management. In my opinion, there is a fine line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although her actions would not violate GAAP, it would allow revenue to be manipulated to paint a pretty picture for third party users. I feel earnings management is saying, I know what the ending needs to be. What can I do to achieve this end? What loophole exists? Ultimately, if there is intent to deceive, I believe earnings management is unethical. The case Is This My Place?...Speaking UP has been the hardest for me. I have found it difficult to decide what I would do if I were in Ben s situation. I know it is wrong for donors to inflate the value of their donations, but I would be afraid to say anything out of fear they might stop donating to the organization. Knowing my manager was aware of the overstated donations and did not care would make matters worse. Unless I had a clear plan to present to him, I would remain quiet. If donations stopped, individuals in need of medical supplies would suffer. In weighing the options, I see the pros and cons of each side. By letting donors continue to overstate donation amounts, donors remain happy, the organization continues to receive donations, and those in need benefit. I could say the humidity and heat were not very pleasant especially combined with the work involved in being a recruit in the Marine Corps at Parris Island in June, July and August. But the heat and humidity combined with the day to day intimate relationship shared with the noble sand flea was far worse at times, lol, them bastards certainly did not help. I would bet the noble sand flea has caused countless recruits to call it quits, I could not doubt that as I have been partially eaten by them myself. The DI s used to say that you will leave so much sweat in the ground at Parris Island that you will always own part of it. They forgot to mention the flesh the sand fleas took from us. Although the heat and humidity did not hamper my ability to hang, it was extremely uncomfortable at times to say the least. Being flea bitten, yelled at and tortured in the pit, the grass, the mud, the beach or in the barracks on the quarter deck did not help the situation either. I did not find it bad enough to hinder me in doing what I was told to do. But, there were a few times it was so intense that unless you were there, you would not believe how hot, humid and flea ridden Parris Island really was. Courageous and skilled Persian conquerors allowed Persian rule to spread beyond Persian territory, creating one of the largest early empires (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). However, across the Mediterranean Sea was dwelled a more advanced empire with a stronger military, the Greeks (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). These prominent early empires possessed many similarities and held the ultimate goal of building and maintaining an advanced empire and society. Yet, their Southwestern and Afro Eurasian cultures consisted of several different beliefs and ways of life. The 5th and 6th century B.C.E polytheistic Greek traditions tremendously differed from the religion of the Achaemenid Empire, which believed solely in Ahu Mazda, the supreme god (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). For humans to lead rich lives, Suzuki also adds love and spirit to the list. In the introduction to The Sacred Balance, Suzuki interviews a Haida Gwaii artist named Guujaaw about the battle over clear cut logging in his native Queen Charlotte Islands. Although the logging industry in the islands generated several much needed jobs, many of the Haida were opposed to it. • 12. Crime And Crime Essay Before the twentieth century, explaining crime followed Darwin, and Lumbroso s idea that criminals were biologically inferior. But with the development of the industry and the urbanization of the late 1800s and 1900s, the Progressive movement arose, arguing that crime was a social product. It was not the individual and its biologically inferior traits that would cause him to commit crime, it is rather the environment that causes people to commit crime. That was the beginning of the Chicago School. Because Chicago witnessed a rapid social change due to industrialization and the sudden urbanization and mass population shift, it became the prime choice to study how social change impacted criminal conduct. Researchers at the University of Chicago believed that crime would be best understood by looking at neighborhood characteristics. Shaw and McKay (1929) were influenced by the Chicago School in that they asked the question does it make a difference if a child grows up in an inner city community affected by ethnic heterogeneity, poverty, and social mobility? The question led to shifting the focus of what causes crime from an individual perspective to a social, environmental perspective. Thus, when studying delinquency and crime, Shaw and McKay (1929) and Burgess (1967) argued that neighborhoods may be the contributing factors to crime and not the individual. All three of these definitions have to do with how we classify ourselves, not how society classifies us. There are five different theories of sexual orientation that are examined and discussed in this chapter. I think it is important to consider each theory and understand why they were created. Greed, Exploitation, And Division Of The Black Class As Pope Benedict XVI famously stated, Our world has grown weary of greed, exploitation and division, of the tedium of false idols and piecemeal responses, and the pain of false promises. His ideas are especially true in modern society. Greed refers to the intense desire for something, particularly wealth and power. The desire for materialism has acted as a catalyst for greed to become prevalent in society, especially in the United States of America. The presence of greed in the upper class dates back to as early as the 1820 s when wealthy oil businessmen exploited sailors into working in extremely dangerous conditions for their own self interest (Philbrick). The greed present in the wealthiest families in the nation has established a detrimental division between the wealthy and the poor. The gap is only growing further and further apart, as greed constructs the desire for the rich to become richer resulting in the poor becoming poorer (JBW). As of right now, the United States has the worst income equality out of all the developed countries in the world (Gongloff). Unfortunately, we don t have enough people in our federal government looking for opportunities to change our ways. • 29. The Effects Of Global Warming On Health, Spatial... Reptilian populations are under constant scrutiny from the environment. The reptilian populations rely on close to equal sex ratios for their species to thrive. With the changing climate more and more reptiles are at risk. This is because global warming may influence health, spatial distribution, growth, and reproductive output (Simoncini 2014). Along with that, the change in temperature will affect the incubation temperature, embryonic development, sex ratios, and hatchling success (Simoncini 2014). Not only that, but global change may result in a stronger sex ratio bias, which could lead to extinction of TSD reptiles (Hulin et al 2009). An all male or all female biased population adds more stress on a population to survive. Scientists are concerned populations will dwindle or possibly become extinct if reptilian species cannot adapt to climate change. Global warming will result in increased atmospheric temperature in a short time scale and may modify several life history traits in populations (Hulin et al 2009). Reptilian species may not have the time to physically adapt to the environmental changes. Species could overcome climate change by modification of nesting phenology or behavior (Hulin et al 2009). Some temperature dependent sex determined species may be able to compensate by nesting in cooler areas (Refsnider 2012). Not only will temperature change affect sex ratios, but it can alter offspring phenotypes and performance. A study was conducted to observe the effect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Job Interview Program Advantages And Disadvantages CHAPTER 1 Introduction: The job interview is the gateway to employment, and the ability to interview well is a skill set in itself. Most young people who are new to the process find that they are often unsuccessful at this component of attempting to become employed due to the fact that they are underprepared for the nuance laden and sometimes improvisatory nature of an interview. This critical step becomes more difficult when a young person experiences difficulties with language, comprehension and/or social deficits as many of our student with disabilities do. According to the US Department of Labor, young people with disabilities ages 20 24 are employed at half the rate of those without. The same subgroup are living in poverty at twice the rate of those without disabilities according to the US Census Bureau. Though vocational skills preparation programs exist to address these issues, they are largely underutilized by high school aged children primarily to due to a lack of awareness that they exist, how to find them or what purpose they serve. Students with disabilities benefit from skills preparation programs under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) which mandates that post secondary transition planning education and training be provided to each eligible student beginning by age 16 and be individualized to meet each student s unique needs. This mandate is executed differently by school district. In the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New fighting strategies that emphasized throwing more and more men into the fight only exacerbated the problem. Military leaders on the side of the Allies failed to adapt and sacrificed the lives of many that could have been avoided. Based on concrete evidence that was collected, this was a major factor in high casualty numbers during the war because of the use of outdated tactics, pre determined mindsets of leaders, and the continued use of strategies that were ineffective. As a result of this, artillery did not have as destructive effect that the Allies wanted. This lack of knowledge and ignorant assumptions did not account for many Allied casualties but it did not decrease the number of enemy troops to where the Allies had an advantage (Axelrod, 94). This battle could have been a major success for the Allies with much fewer casualties had the military leaders knew what they were up against. Too many times during the war, tactical preparations before battles were slim and military leaders decided to attack based on previously accurate knowledge; only to find out that this war changed every minute and the enemy was changing as well. This military incompetence can also be seen in the Battle of Verdun in 1916. General Pétain s plan during the battle was described as this: Every parcel of land which might be seized by the enemy will give rise to an immediate counter attack (Malcolm, ch 8). This bold, yet ineffective strategy allowed for hundreds of thousands of French soldiers to lose their lives over the course of the battle. Pétain simply wanted to keep throwing men at the Germans who were armed with much better weapons that did nothing but increase the intensity of the war of attrition. Although the men who died on the battlefield were very brave and committed to winning the war, they were following blind leadership. • 34. Corruption In I Claudius I, Claudius is a fictional autobiography written in the voice of the fourth Roman Emperor, Tiberius Claudius Drusus Nero Germanicus Claudius for short. The story recounts the period of the founding of the Roman Empire to the coronation of Claudius himself; but, as seen from the perspective of Claudius an adamant republican the Roman Empire is one that is doomed to fall, prophesied by the Sibyl of Cumae, due to political instability and dangerous power struggles. Similar to the Roman Empire of I, Claudius, the Britain of King Lear also falls into a state of political chaos akin to anarchy; the sudden abdication of Lear and his senility ultimately bring about the unravelling of his family, followers, and kingdom. The following power struggles in Rome and Britain lead to the corruption of many individuals in their respective time periods. Both I, Claudius by Robert Graves and King Lear by William Shakespeare, set during times of political turbulence, suggest that the competition for and possession of power can corrupt and alter individuals and society. Both works are set in times of political turbulence, times in which people would seize the opportunity to gain absolute power or at least an upper hand over others. It is pertinent to note that in most of the sexual assault cases where the child is the victim, there is often little or no physical evidence. Due to the requirement of corroborated evidence, where in fact, there is none, it had undoubtedly led to many perpetrators escaping conviction as the alleged victim, the child s evidence is not corroborated and there was nothing else to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. With the newly implemented section where there is no requirement of corroborated evidence, the judge has the opportunity to consider the child s uncorroborated evidence and able to access the weight to be accorded to such evidence in the particular case. That is a lot of money and here is the catch, that cost is only for one launch and there have been about 130 launches. So if you do the math, we have spent about $58.5 billion on space travel. That is the total cost of all 130 space shuttle launches, but there have also been five strong fleet launches. To build a strong fleet shuttle it takes around $1.7 billion (Thompson 1). Those costs, though, are only covering all of the shuttles. To build and maintain over the years, the International Space Station has cost a total of about $142 billion. If you think that is already a lot of money, that amount isn t even adding the missions to get there and back. Gold was found on the Cherokee land during the Georgia Gold Rush. The greed that it created was one of the leading causes of the Trail of Tears where thousands of Native Americans were forcibly relocated from their native lands (Cherokee.org). Little did the Native Americans realize that the new nation that was going to be forming around them would affect not only their lives but the lives of their descendants. Even though the Cherokee made efforts to keep their land through the court system and even attempted to assimilate to the American way of life it was to no avail. They tried to agree to treaties with the United States Government. Even though, they were eventually forced to leave their lands. By forcing the Native Americans to abandon their homes, robbing their lands, taking their freedom, and forcing them to adapt and to assimilate into a new land and culture showed how vindictive President Andrew Jackson was regarding the Native Americans.
