The Bourgeoisie Essay
Karl Marx describes Society as a whole [as being] more and more [split] up into two great hostile
camps, into two great classes directly facing each other bourgeoisie and proletariat (Marx 124). As
Marx made his distinction between upper class, bourgeoisie, and lower class, proletariats, it is
important to keep in mind the societal structure at the time. To understand how classes were created
and the disparity between the rich and poor, or, bourgeoisie and proletariat, it is necessary to examine
how people came to be rich and poor. Exploring a time before money existed will help us to process
and understand reasons why the binary between rich and poor exists and how it is reflective of low
and high art distinctions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the commodification of natural resources, there becomes a dependency between those who
control the resources and all those who need to use them. At this stage of society people are no longer
self sufficient, but rely upon the network of society to provide food, shelter and jobs (Rousseau). At
this level of society, the founders most often control the resources and begin to live in excess
compared to the rest of the populace. Rousseau s final stage 4) is the state of war, which is triggered
when the rich deceive the poor, and the poor begin to rebel. This state of war is rooted in the transition
from a free, independent mode of living to a regulated lifestyle within the constraints of society.
Someone has to establish any society and as a result, those who establish society through control of
the natural resources will monopolize power (Rousseau). As we see, art does not arrive until all
physiological needs or the basic needs are met as is evident by the happy savage stage. Art arrives
with the improvement of manual labor and hunter gatherer techniques in the division of labor. The
division of labor in turn creates divisions within society, and we can see that evidence in the French
colonial enslavement of native peoples and African slave trade throughout history. The rich and poor
binary can

Who Is Esther Greenwood In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Depressions often personified as a villain that traps people and does not let them go. This is a claim
most of its victims would agree with, especially Esther Greenwood. The Bell Jar, written by the Sylvia
Plath, follows Esther Greenwood s descent into and recovery from madness. Esther is a young and
brilliant writer, whose ambitions are stunted by a crippling depression. Plath, describes an outlook on
reality that is distorted by mental illness through the symbolism of the fig tree and the bell jar. The
indirect characterization of Esther also gives a perspective of this distorted reality. Though she wants
to move forward, her state of mind holds her back. Plath argues, that mental illnesses give one an
enlightened perception of reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then something bent down and took hold of me and shook me like the end of the world [...] with each
flash a great jolt drubbed me till I thought my bones would break and the sap fly out of me like a split
plant. I wondered what terrible thing it was that I had done. (Plath 143). Regardless of how in
effective the treatment is known to be at the present time it was thought to be quite effective at that
point. However, Esther viewed it as a punishment, showing that unlike most people of the time Esther
sees the world in a different way. Her depression allowed her to have an enlightened perspective on
the treatment and be able to prove it ineffective ness at that moment and later in the novel.
Esther Greenwood story shows an unconventional part of the depression, a different outlook on reality.
Depression is in no way good thing to go through but with this level of sadness the sufferer is forced
to look at themselves in a different and enlightened way. Esther understands that she, if she forgets her
emotional pain, could have a conventionally nice life. Nevertheless, she also understands that the
perils of the disease hold her back and it is not something she can run away from. Either directly or
indirectly for better or for worse depression changes the way people perceive their

The Effect Of Latest Laws On Texting And Driving
Introduction
Recent laws outlawing texting while driving have become ambiguous, under inclusive and enforce
light punishments that cannot be deterred. These laws also empower the police to carry out warrantless
search for the cell phone of the driver. Texting while driving is highly dangerous and people doing so
must be punished strictly, license suspensions, interlock devices preventing the usage of cell phones
while driving and possible jail time (Arrigo, 2014). This particular paper is an attempt to evaluate the
effectiveness of latest laws implemented against texting and driving.
Texting and Driving
There has been a rising concern in the last few years about the potential dangers accompanying texting
while driving associated largely with the increasing number of highway fatalities. Significant efforts
have been made by The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) for
curtailing distracted driving including texting while driving along with public service information and
announcements. As per NHTSA, driving distractions are of three different forms like manual, visual
and cognitive. Manual driving distractions take off the driver s hands off from the steering wheel
(Kirszner Mandell, 2010).
Visual driving distractions take off the driver s eyes off from the road and cognitive driving
distractions take off the mind of the driver from driving. It has been stated by NHTSA that since text
messaging needs visual, cognitive and manual attention on part

Women, Education, And Marriage Of Women In The Elizabethan...
Have you ever wondered what women went through back before they had all these rights? Well,
women back then were treated very unfairly they were treated with very less respect. Women back
then could get little education, they were pretty much servants to men compared to nowadays. Keep
reading to read all about what people thought about the women, education, and marriage of women.
The Elizabethan Era was an era where women were mistreated and not giving the equal rights that
men have. Women are the power of the people, the leaders, the outgoers, but they were not always this
way in this article it states, Women were regarded as ´the weaker sex´, not just in terms of physical
strength, but emotionally too ( Elizabethan Women.Queen Elizabeth 1). Women are mainly just known
for literally sitting around and doing nothing, women were known for the more sadder and less
stronger type. Back in the 1500s and 1600s women were watched by men, if they were not married
any male in their life had to watch them, but if they were married then their husband would have to
watch them, ... It was believed that women always needed someone to look after them. If they were
married, their husband was expected to look after them. If they were single, then their father, brother
or another male relative was expected to take care of them. As you can see by this quote, women back
in the elizabethan time were like the maids, if they were not doing what they are supposed to be doing

Socioeconomic Status Of Black Families
In the United States alone, minorities have struggled for centuries to earn the basic rights and
opportunities as others. African Americans have always worked harder and been treated maliciously
just because of the color of their skin. There have been numerous movements, peaceful protests, and
brutal battles by black leaders against whites for equality, justice, and a fair chance at a better life. It is
safe to say that in the past, blacks were not allowed to progress or have a mind of their own. In
comparison to the past, the educational sector for minorities still remains as an extreme societal
challenge. For many years, African Americans have been denied educational advancement
opportunities. The higher education area suffers greatly for the black population but very few people
will address why this matter occurs. Do black families socioeconomic status affect the children s
education? The socioeconomic status is easily defined as an individuals or families economic and
social rank based on income, education level, and occupation. The socioeconomic status of black
families does affect their children s academic success, however; it does not determine their children s
success. This educational disadvantage for black students needs to be addressed because of the lack of
financial and emotional support that minority students receive due to their parents lack of experience
and knowledge with higher education. Many black students become a product of their environment
because

Music And Listening Experiment
Purpose
The purpose of my experiment is to see and determine how different genres of music affects your
pulse while listening for a certain time period. My question is, what genre makes your pulse the
fastest?
Research
Since music is very popular, I can watch videos of people at concerts, seeing how different songs
make people dance or nod their head. Doing this can help me get an idea of how the pace and beat of a
song can make someone s heart beat faster and want to move more to the song.
I can also look online at various music artists and see the setting of where they usually perform. This
way I can understand the type of music they play and how people act during the music. For example,
if they play at a coffee shop, it would be more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

watching would be more relaxed and have a normal heartbeat. If someone performs at a big football
field before a game, it would most likely be more fast pace song, causing the audience to become
more excited and have a faster heart beat.
Experiment
For my experiment, I would have a friend sit for me and listen to a certain genre of music for a period
of time, doing this for a couple of different kinds of songs. Each time I do this, I would check her
pulse and record it.
The independent variable in this experiment would be the music genre, I can change it, and it will
affect the outcome of my experiment.
The dependent variable during my experiment is the mood that the person who is being tested on. If
the person is tired before the experiment is started, it will be different results than someone who is

The controlled variable in the experiment is the person I am conducting the experiment on. The person
will not change throughout the time. If I changed different people to do perform the experiment on,

Preacher Sermon in the Novel Flatland
The novel Flatland provokes many new and interesting thoughts. The way the universe is portrayed
throughout the book gives us a view of many dimensions that may exist. Flatland shows us the
opportunities for the existence of different worlds and causes the reader to consider that Heaven and
Hell could in fact be two different worlds that may be expanded or retracted in dimensions. A preacher
may use Flatland in a sermon in a variety ways, including how Heaven may be a new and inspiring
dimension with a contrastive way of sight and sound that is only achievable upon reaching Heaven.
Hell may be an unspoken horror of dimension that none of us on Earth have ever experienced. One
way in which a preacher may use this incredible novel in a sermon is to give the congregation an
awareness of how the universe is ever changing. Heaven may indeed belong to another dimension
with a different way of sight, sound, and emotion. Our God may experience many emotions at once.
For example, He may be angry and forlorn, jovial, and troubled all at the same time. The variety of
ways in which we attain sight, sound, and emotion causes a separation between us and God that can
never be fulfilled until we reach our final destination. Sin is also a significant topic that may be
discussed in a sermon relating to Flatland. While sin is existent in our dimension and is quite prevalent
amongst those who belong to the realm of Earth, the dimension of Heaven has no sin. Heaven may be
similar to our

see himself for who he really is and shows it with his actions throughout the rest of the novel. Grendel,

Nazis didn t care. They didn t care if the Jews suffered and died, they just knew Hitler was their leader
and wanted to keep their family safe. [credibility] Research shows that Mengele did many experiments
on camp prisoners. [orientation] WWII started September 1st 1939 and lasted until September 2nd
1945. The holocaust started January 30th 1933 and ended May 8th 1945. This all started because

Man s Search For Meaning By Victor Frankl
Author Victor E. Frankl wrote a book called Man s Search for Meaning. He had always fantasized
about being a doctor from a young age. He lived in Vienna, and studied medicine, psychology and
logotherapy which is the healing through meaning. In 1942 his family was arrested and taken to
Theresienstadt in Bohemia. His family had died in the camp except his sister; she was the only one to
survive besides him. He began to write a script while in the camps he was in (he moved to 3 different
camps during the holocaust). It was called, The Doctor and The Soul. He wrote it on pieces of paper
he found in the camps. In 1945 his camp was set free and he finished his manuscript. When he got out,
he became the director of the Vienna Neurological Policlinic. ... Show more content on

When he is explaining his experience he discusses how he tried to understand the minds of the people
suffering around him. In the book he describes his admittance into the camp, the everyday camp
schedule and his release from the camp. When he is talking about his involvement in the camp he
noticed many people experienced shock. As a part of this he noticed most people believed that the
gassing would be stopped or delayed right before their execution. There was always a tiny hope
fluctuation around in the camps that they would live to see freedom. Once people started to lose
optimism that they would survive, suicides were common and majority of the prisoners lacked
enthusiasm and energy which created emotional emptiness. He thought that people had the ability to
governor and choose their piety and mental stability. Frankl said that people struggled with not
knowing when the torment and suffering would end. He thought that people who couldn t foresee
themselves getting out lost control of their mental stability. When freedom does eventually arrive for
those who had survived they had a hard time accepting it because they never thought it would happen.
He states that some prisoners weren t even happy about being released. Once they were released the
former prisoners had to relearn how to experience things that didn t revolve around suffering. Once
the holocaust is over and everyone has been released the book goes on to describe the techniques to
help people that are still mentally ill from the horrifying experience. He states that the only way to
help them find their meaning for life is Logotherapy. He thinks you can discover it in 3 ways which
are to perform a deed, experience something and display an attitude toward suffering. A

Right Ventricle Lab Report
The function of the right ventricle (RV) is to receive the systemic venous return and to pump this
deoxygenated blood through the pulmonary arteries into the pulmonary circulation.
The RV pumps the same amount of blood as the left volume pumps, this amount equals the stroke
volume. The RV ejects blood against the pulmonary vascular resistance which is characterized by a
low impedance and a highly distensible pulmonary arteries. On the other hand, the left ventricle (LV)
ejects the blood against the systemic vascular resistance which has much higher impedance than the
pulmonary resistance. As a consequence, the RV pumps the blood with about 25% of the stroke work
performed by the LV. The RV operates under a lower pressure compared to the LV: ... Show more

A great determinant of the afterload on the RV is the pulmonary vascular resistance. The RV can be
exposed to high pressure overload states either acutely or chronically. Under acute pressure overload
states, the RV responds initially by increased contractility in order to maintain the stroke volume.
Initially, the increase in ESP is accompanied by increase in ESV and EDV which in turn stretches the
ventricular wall augmenting the contractility (Frank Starling Law). However, the RV has limited
capacity to generate higher pressure. It has been found from studies as well clinical practise that
increase in RV systolic pressure by 60% is the maximum extent by which RV can respond. Later, the
EF and SV will decrease as the mean ejection pressure increases, and this is reflected by a decrease in
COP. In addition, the RV has thin wall and the high pressure load increase the wall tension and stress.
Which leads to increase the oxygen demands causing RV ischemia. In addition, acute pressure load
leads to RV dilation which cause a decrease in LV filling and eventually a decrease in COP. Acute RV
pressure overload in adults often leads to RV dilation and failure. For example, in adults with acute
pulmonary embolism, the RV is unable to generate pressure 40 and the condition develops to RV
failure early in the presentation of acute significant pulmonary. Another example is: idiopathic

INTRODUCTION
Wine, as a product, does offer a degree of complexity that not many other categories can claim. Wine
is a beverage. Wine is a socialization tool or a way to celebrate an event. Wine tells us about the
history and culture of a country. Wine is a symbol of prestige.
Traditionally, natural cork was considered the closure of choice, especially for wine of any quality. In
truth, natural cork has many advantages. It is natural, flexible and compressible with amazing anti slip
properties. It is also biodegradable, 100% recyclable and, cork forests promote biodiversity. Most
important natural cork has proven to be extremely suitable for long term wine aging. But wineries are
switching to screw caps and other alternative closures to ensure quality and reduce the possibility of
contamination with TCA (the chemical compound 2,4,6 trichloroanisole), which a wine gets with a
faulty cork leaving behind the musty and damp smell but there is still the hesitation thinking that
screw caps may not be provided with the same aging effect as the wines under cork does. An
important advantage of the screw cap is that it really preserves the aromatic freshness and
youthfulness of a wine (The Kitchen, 2008).
The type of closure selected for wine has

The Legality Of Drug Testing In The Workplace
Drug Testing in the Workplace There has been great controversy regarding the topic of drug testing in
the workplace. Employees fear the thought of being tested, while employers use it as a tool to make
decisions. Arguments concerning the legality of drug tests has sparked many political debates.
However, employers receive reinsurance of safety and health issues with implemented pre
employment drug testing as well as randomized or ongoing drug tests. Most private employers have
the luxury establish their own regulations regarding drug testing in the workplace, unless they are
obligated to follow Federal regulations. One association related to this arrangement is the U.S.
Department of Transportation (DOT), in this case all employees must be drug tested. Any Federal
agency that uses drug testing in their company are suggested to follow standardized procedures by the
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. A typical test which evaluates of the
presence of drugs or alcohol are urine drug tests, blood drug tests, hair drug tests, breathalyzer drug
tests, mouth swab (saliva) drug tests and sweat drug screens. The reason why they take into account
the Mental Health Services is because employees who (for example) take medications such as
Adderall for ADHD may show positive results for amphetamines, and may cost someone their job
even if the drug enhances their ability to perform. Considering that drug testing is personal health

Jane Austen s Pride And Prejudice
Anjan Amarnath Mr. Holaday British Literature/Writing P6 9 May 2016 Clever Title While Jane
Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice is often regarded for it s strong representations of feminism, the
novel strongly portrays the Oedipus complex through the Bentley sisters unexpected and contradictory
relationships. The relationship of a child with their parent is one of the strongest influences in one s
later life and relations, so much so that a child is sometimes forced to repress their true desires. The
novel tracks Elizabeth Bennet s relationship with Mr. Darcy, a relationship which endures a stark,
unexpected change that is a result of Elizabeth s Oedipal complex. Initially, Elizabeth detests Mr.
Darcy, as she views him and a narcissistic man with unreasonably high expectations; however, near
the end of the novel, she becomes infatuated with him and the two end up getting married. Mr. Bennet,
Elizabeth s father, is a very soft spoken man who deliberately defies his wife, his female counterpart,
and doesn t seem to openly express his love for his family very often. That is, with the exception of
Elizabeth who happens to be his favorite daughter, as demonstrated throughout the book through his
distinct affection and care towards her and his indifference towards his other four daughters. Due to
the parallelism between Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bennet, it is clear that Elizabeth s attraction to Mr. Darcy
is deeply rooted within the Oedipus complex. Mr. Bennett expresses a low

and wool. John proceeded to check himself in a two way mirror usually used for shake downs and
inspections, and he noticed that the outer layer of the back of his leather trench jacket was discolored
from the acidic snow. He immediately saw some more snowflakes resting on his shoulders, slowly

Teenage Suicide In The United States
In 2014, 1,668 teenagers committed suicide in the United States. Each year the number of suicides
increases. Being bullied, depression, and family drama are some causes of teenage suicide. Teenagers
who commit suicide are usually impulsive. Impulsiveness is when a person acts without thinking
through a plan or its consequences. Teenage suicide is a big problem in the United States, but luckily
there are ways to prevent it. Suicide is most common among teenagers. In 2014, seventy seven percent
of people that committed suicide were male while thirty four percent were female. Studies reveal that

to commit suicide live a normal and healthy life. When a teenager commits suicide it affects everyone
who was familiar with the victim. The families of the victim go through a lot of hardship. The mother
of the victim will usually become depressed as well as the siblings. Studies show that after a mere four
month after a person committed suicide a sibling of the victim would also commit suicide. Children of
parents who commit suicides will commit suicide later in life. In addition, studies show that if a
teenager was in a relationship (boy/girlfriend) and committed suicide there was a high chance the
other would follow suit. Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. Teenagers
who commit suicide are usually not in the right state of mind and not acting like their true self. In
order to prevent teenagers from committing suicide, awareness of its warning signs and recognizing its
symptoms are crucial. Family and friends of people that commit suicide regret not having done more
to prevent it from happening. Through learning how to prevent suicide and recognizing warning signs
of suicide, we can lower the suicide rate and make the world a better

Malcolm X Struggles
Malcolm X
One of the greatest screen biographies, is celebrating an excursion of an American life, beginning in
sorrow and bottoming out on the streets and imprisoned before its hero rejuvenated himself. After
watching the film, I understood the power that we have to change our own lives, how fate doesn t deal
all of the cards. Its hero was born Malcolm little a young African American boy.
He was victimized by violence. His father was murdered, probably by the KKK, which had earlier
burned down the family house. His mother was unable to support her children, so Malcom was sent to
a foster home. He was the brightest student in his classes but was steered away from ambitious career
choices. White teachers told him that, as a Negro, he should look for jobs where he could work with
his hands. One of his early jobs was as a Pullman porter, then in Harlem he became a numbers runner
and small time gangster. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand the stages of Malcolm s life is to walk for a time in an African Americans shoes, and to
glimpse where the journey might lead. Denzel Washington stands at the center of the film, in a
performance of enormous coverage. He never seems to be trying for an effect, and yet he is always
convincing. Holding audiences spellbound on street corners, churches, television and at Harvard.
Washington is a congenial, attractive actor, and so it is especially effective to see how he shows the
anger in Malcolm, the unbending dogmatic side. This movie strongly reminds me of Martin Luther
King movies. It reminds me of this because in movies about Martin Luther King life they mostly only
show Kings good part in his life. While watching the Malcolm X movie I learn that Malcolm X is
more on the fighting side of things to get equal rights. When King was fighting equal rights he was in
depended on the church and having their input on

Should Trophys Be Allowed In Kids Sports
Is giving kids participation trophies beneficial to children, or motivation killers? Many people all
around the U.S. have their opinions for both sides of the discussion. James Harrison, linebacker for the
Pittsburgh Steelers, has weighed in on this topic. In many people s eyes, his beliefs make a lot of
sense, they understand where he s coming from and what he is speaking about. Carol Dweck also
made a statement to NPR about her belief s on the topic. There are millions of important facts that
need to be talked about with this epidemic: an estimated fifty seven percent said only winners should

These kids are a cancer to teams. Everyone knows that there are always kids with bad attitudes that do
not care; therefore, kids that act like this do not deserve to have a participation trophy. They do not
care about the team and some of them are very impertinent. There are even some people that are there
because their parents force them to play. There parents may have been really good athletes, but their
kids are not always the best. Those kids are not respectful to the team, so why should they get a trophy
for that?
Finally, kids that are given participation trophies are given the wrong idea. Fifty seven percent of
people said only winners deserve to have participation trophies, giving out participation trophies is
tantamount to giving kids the wrong praise, and giving kids with bad attitudes and not a care in the
world is not a good idea. These kids need to realize that they need
to earn things that are given to them. James Harrison had every right to take those trophies away from
his kids. He is making those kids want to work harder and strive to earn a real trophy one day. Maybe
one day they will end up like him and win a super bowl. That is when they are able to be given a
trophy. When kids try their hardest and earn these trophies, that is when they should be

With the goal of ensuring that all preschools in California offer highquality programs, the California
Department of Education collaborated with leading early childhood educators, researchers, advocates,
and parents to develop Volume 2 of the preschool learning foundations. The foundations outline key
knowledge and skills that most children can achieve when provided with the kinds of interactions,
instruction, and environments shown by research to promote early learning and development. Volume
2 focuses on three domains: visual and performing arts, physical development, and health. These
domains often receive less attention than some of the other domains, but they are equally important for
preschool children s overall learning and development. As research that is summarized in this volume
indicates, physical v vi exercise and healthy routines and nutritional choices set the stage for
lifelong healthy habits. The recent NAEYC report underscores the need for children to play outside,
use their large muscles, and engage in vigorous physical activities every day. Of course, the visual and
performing arts fuel both preschool children s imaginative play and creativity and also promote
learning in all domains, including physical skill development, cognitive development, and social
emotional development. I believe that these foundations will help guide and support all California

Being A Naturalist Writer By Frank Norris
Being a naturalist writer means that one must accurately depict the details of everyday life. Perhaps
one of the greatest naturalist authors in the United States of America was Frank Norris. Norris took
what he knew from his life in San Francisco, found great inspiration, as well as what was going on in
the time period, and put it onto paper. The critics of the time did not acclaim Norris novel, they
condemned it. Was this portrayal of real life too authentic for the people at this time period in history?
Benjamin Franklin Norris was born on March 5, 1870 in Chicago, Illinois. When he was 14, Frank
Norris moved to San Francisco with his family. From 1890 to 1894, he attended the University of
California, Berkeley to study literature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Encyclopaedia Britannica 1). Norris died on October 25, 1902 from peritonitis caused by the rupture
of his appendix (Spartacus Educational 1). His untimely death left unanswered questions. Norris was
unable to write the third and final novel of the trilogy, The Wolf. This book was rumored to tell the
story of a European village afflicted by famine and saved by wheat grown in America (Encyclopaedia
Britannica 1). Unfortunately, no one will know for sure what that novel would have been about.
Throughout his whole writing career, Frank Norris had many different people who became his
inspiration. While studying at Berkeley, Norris had a professor by the name of Joseph Le Conte.
Professor Le Conte argued that God is immanent in nature, is resident in the natural forces which
account for evolution, and uses evolution as His method of creation ( Frank Norris 1). Norris believed
that evolution threatens free will and, that human behavior was steered by heredity and a primal nature
that was beyond control. Another very influential man for Frank Norris was Herbert Spencer, a
Victorian biologist, social philosopher and a firm believer in Social Darwinism. Spencer

Special Needs For Special Education
Over the past years, the total number of students with special needs in the United States has grown
from 1990 through 2005. Studies from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) show
that there are 4.8 million children enrolled in public schools who received special education between
the ages of 3 21. The studies show that in 1990 the percent of children receiving special education in
the school was 11 percent, while in 2005 the amount of students receiving special education grew to
14 percent. Actual studies by the IDEA during 2012 and 2013 reported that 6.4 million of the students
enrolled in public schools are obtaining special education. We can see that students with special needs
are rapidly increasing and at the same time we can notice that special education teachers are becoming
scarce. Taking in consideration all the aforementioned, I decided to interview a youth specialist
education professor. I wanted to know what truly inspired him to change his major and become a

Reality Television IsnT A Reflection Of Reality
Reality Television isn t a Reflection of Reality
Hello guys, raise your hand if you watch reality tv? As you can see reality tv is dominating our lives.
Just as we say goodbye to the biggest looser, we say hello to Masterchef, but why is reality tv so
popular? What tips and tricks go down behind the scenes to influence the way we portray the
characters? Reality TV programs claim to be showing us a true glimpse of life as it happens, but what
we truly see isn t real . Reality television is not a reflection of reality, because there are many
techniques that producer use, such as adding music/ sound effects, variety of camera shots and angles,
little things like editing and voice overs, which create a biased view of the situation.
One of the most popular Logie award winning tv show in Australia is MasterChef. With over 1.46
million viewers tuning in every week. MasterChef is a fast pace competitive cooking show, were a
group of people compete, for a chance to win $250,000 and become the next biggest star! The
contestants go through a series of weekly challenges and eliminations that slowly stir up emotions and
drama. This show is created to entertain the audience, so every moment is exaggerated even faked.
MasterChef is known for their judges;George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and food critic Matt Preston,
which have a mix of bitter and loveable personalities. Each episode is jammed packed with dramatic
interviews and tension building moments, for example season 7 Episode 1.
This episode shows many ways that filming and camera shots can manipulate the way we portray
characters. High angles are used in MasterChef when all contestants are bunched up ready to cook,
this makes them seem insignificant and small compared to the surroundings. Low angles are often
used, because it makes the person look more strong, independent and superior. This was used in Ep 1,
when the judges stepped into the kitchen, which makes them look taller and more greater then you.
Shot types are an important technique in the reality tv. Close ups are used to individualise one specific
person and emphasise emotions and facial expressions, making it more dramatic and problematic. This
can be seen when Rose Adam is talking to the judges,

The History of the Hard-Boiled Detective Essay
There are many sub genres of detective fiction and hard boiled fiction is one of them. What exactly is
hard boiled detective fiction? Hard Boiled detective fiction is fiction that features tough, cynical,
urban private eyes who expose corruption and frequently get injured in the course of their
investigations ( Detective Fiction, Literary). Hard Boiled fiction is considered one of the more popular
sub genres of detective fiction; there have been numerous films and novels about urban detectives
exposing corruption in the police force and in politics. The author credited with inventing the first
successful hard boiled story is Carroll John Daly. His character, Terry Mack, was quick to fight, was

Poe s story set the basic plot for detective stories of that time. A crime, usually murder, is committed; a
detective investigates the crime; a number of suspects are considered; the guilty party is discovered
and imprisoned, killed, or allowed to escape at the conclusion (Detective Fiction, 1 Twentieth
Century). The detective story was originally a competition between the reader and the writer. It was a
game intended to challenge the intellect and stimulate though. The reader is challenged by the writer
to attempt to solve the mystery with the clues provided. In the final pages of the story the reader
would learn if their solution matched that of the detective (Herbert and Hillerman 3 4). Detective
stories continued to be this intellectual challenge between reader and writer for many years until the
hard boiled genre emerged. The first hard boiled detective was Terry Mack, who first appeared in
Black Mask magazine in 1923 (Marling). This detective was quick to fight and less on an intellectual
than Auguste Dupin. He battled corrupt policemen and gangsters and almost always became injured in
the process. Hard Boiled detective fiction brought the complexity of the story down and added a
greater sense of adventure to the novels. This attracted many readers and caused the sub genre to take
off like a rocket (Marling). Hard Boiled fiction reached its peak in the 1930s and the 1940s. It
reflected the pressures of the Depression and World War II. Its villains

What Are The 4 Laws Of Thermodynamics
The four fundamental laws of thermodynamics are used to define how physical quantities behave
under various circumstances, these include energy, entropy, and temperature. The First Law of
Thermodynamics states that energy in the universe is always conserved, therefore it cannot be created
or destroyed, and it can only be transformed from one form to another. The second law of
thermodynamics states that entropy of isolated systems always increases, this means that in all
processes of energy exchange, if no energy is introduced to or leaves a system, the sum of potential
energy will be less than initial condition. The third law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of a
system is maintained as the temperature decreases to absolute zero. The fourth law of thermodynamics
defines temperature equilibrium between systems.
The first law of thermodynamics defines that energy can be transformed but not destroyed. It s used to
define the internal energy contained in a system. It s formulated by pointing out the change in internal
energy in system minus work and heat that add and subtract energy in the system. Moreover, the
second law helps to clarify different ways in which motors change heat into mechanical work, for
example in steam turbines and car engines. The third law, also referred to as Nernst law, provides a
basis for calculating absolute entropy value of substances and an analysis of phase and chemical
equilibrium.
Fossil fuels are the most widely used energy source in

Evaluation Of A Business Will Greatly Influence The Course...
Week 4 Reflection: Introduction to Segmentation
The strategy or objectives of a business will greatly influence the course of action they will take. The
most effective and efficient way to segment a market can depend greatly on the type of product or
service and, ultimately, their goals for a strategy. I find it interesting to know that companies will
consider factors such as psychographic and behavioural methods in particular because they are not
things I automatically assume are important to a business. Demographic, benefits and geographic
factors appear much more important to me but on further study i realised that businesses will use a
combination of a the methods to be more effective. Companies such as Black Milk, who earn most of
their profits online consider demographic, behavioural and psychographic much more than geographic
methods as the internet offers them a channel for greater customer scope than if they were to target
particular locations.
Companies will also evaluate the attractiveness of a market to determine whether they should pursue
it. The criteria for this evaluation seems appeal to the universal objectives of businesses so in that
sense, it extremely effective. The identifiably of a customer is important so that companies are able to
strategies effectively. The segment must also be substantial enough for business to be conducted
profitably, which can happen in different scales. For example, my two jobs which both involve fast

In exploring the problem of identity in Black literature we find no simple or definite explanation.
Nevertheless, it is generally accepted that it is rooted in the reality of the discriminatory social system
in America with its historic origins in the institution of slavery. One can discern that this slavery
system imposes a double burden on the Negro through severe social and economic inequalities and
through the heavy psychological consequences suffered by the Negro who is forced to play an inferior
role, 1 the latter relates to the low self estimate, feeling of helplessness and basic identity conflict.
Thus, in some form or the other, every Negro American is confronted with ... Show more content on

But they were persons who were trying to uphold the race. Another poem Freedom Train celebrates a
long struggle of the Afro Americans. It is a dream which has not come true and will not come true for
the Afro American masses.
Uprooted from the natural environment of Africa, the Negro in America feels suffocated for lack of
freedom, joy and happiness. The Negro soul so deep and ancient is still conscious of his heritage and
strength. The poet inspired of American experience of the race seeks unity, community and identity,
remote in history and beyond the frontiers of America.
Langston Hughes became a votary of freedom for the blacks as the black people in America were
deprived of their political, economic and social rights. His central concern was the concern of the
black Americans, their struggle for freedom from the tyranny of the whites. It is quite natural for a
man to feel attached to his people, to care for their freedom and to make them equal to other human
beings, as freedom and equality are the primary necessities of life. He is of the belief that the African
identity is fundamental to the Afro Americans; that the pride of ancestry, dreams to rebuild a powerful
African image is necessary for the survival of the community in America. According to Langston
Hughes, for the permanence of black identity, racial pride is essential. He says:

Government does not have My College s Back
Last week, while having my morning coffee, I overheard a conversation between a college lecturer
and a well known secretary in The Ministry of Finance. I was about to return upstairs in my office
when I observed the secretary pushed forward, looking the lecturer directly in her eyes emphatically
and aggressively said, You academics just don t get it...the government aint gat no money to take care
no university. I relaxed in my seat as the conversation between the two raged on. This same discussion
is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this country for many years, and the
debate is whether or not The Bahamas is economically, financially and socially developed enough to
maintaina university. This situation has become a worrying problem indeed.According to her article,
We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small
independent nation who wants to ameliorate its tertiary level institution with inadequate financial
resources. She further explains that the Bahamas is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we
already have in existence. In addition, she argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and
simply cannot afford it. In response to Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The
College of The Bahamas is not well equipped to become a university as it lacks a few vital
components that need to be addressed urgently: Financial resources,Infrastructure and Staffing.

Differences Between Harry Potter Book And Movie
Many people have watched the magical movies of Harry Potter, but, with the books being longer than
the movies, how much magic was lost in translation? To answer this question, I want to go over what
the bigger differences are between the films and movies. While the overall plot stayed the same, there
were plenty of changes made for the movie adaptation which I believe made the books much better by
comparison. One big change that is noticed instantly when watching the movies is the removal of
Peeves. In the books, Peeves the poltergeist is a mischievous spirit in that roams the school and
torments students and staff. Despite this, he is beloved by readers as he appears in pretty much every
book, seeing as he is connected to the wizarding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This resulted in a lot of movie watchers feeling as though they forgot to watch a prequel. Granted,
although they may not have much of a backstory in the movies, and what backstory they do have is
more implied than actually stated, all members do appear in the movies and maintain the same
personalities that were shown in the book. In the movies they also hinted at how mischievous they all
were, by introducing the watchers to the Marauders map. So when watching the movies, you may not
know much about the Marauders and how they were and you may not hold the same fondness for
them, making many scenes slightly less emotional, but you know of them and you get to understand
their personality a bit despite the missing context. Everyone who both read the books and saw the
movies received the same impression of the character Hermione Granger, she was very clever and
made a great role model for the female fans, but unfortunately not everyone got to see just how much
of a righteous activist she really was. In the books, Hermione started a group named S.P.E.W. which
stood for, Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare . This started when Hermione witnessed the
horrible way house elves were treated, specifically one house elf, who unfortunately wasn t even
introduced in the movies, named Winky. SPEW made an excellent side story of sorts, but because it
was more of a side story than part of the actual plot, there s no surprise it was left out of the movies
completely.

Baby Igneous Rocks Research Paper
Volcano eruptions bring newborn rocks to the world. Every year, rock families would wait around
volcanos for the erupted magma or surface lava to cool down. Each family would adopt the baby
igneous rocks of their type, who share the same genes, or minerals, as them. These igneous rocks
could have a variety of appearance and crystal sizes. Some rocks composed of surface lava have
smaller, less complex crystalline structures. They were cooled much faster when they were in contact
with air or water, and larger, more complex crystalline structure would not be formed before they
harden. On the adoption day, all kinds of rocks could be spotted; with different lustre, colour,
crystalline structure, and mineral composition. As baby igneous rocks

  • 2. The Bourgeoisie Essay Karl Marx describes Society as a whole [as being] more and more [split] up into two great hostile camps, into two great classes directly facing each other bourgeoisie and proletariat (Marx 124). As Marx made his distinction between upper class, bourgeoisie, and lower class, proletariats, it is important to keep in mind the societal structure at the time. To understand how classes were created and the disparity between the rich and poor, or, bourgeoisie and proletariat, it is necessary to examine how people came to be rich and poor. Exploring a time before money existed will help us to process and understand reasons why the binary between rich and poor exists and how it is reflective of low and high art distinctions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the commodification of natural resources, there becomes a dependency between those who control the resources and all those who need to use them. At this stage of society people are no longer self sufficient, but rely upon the network of society to provide food, shelter and jobs (Rousseau). At this level of society, the founders most often control the resources and begin to live in excess compared to the rest of the populace. Rousseau s final stage 4) is the state of war, which is triggered when the rich deceive the poor, and the poor begin to rebel. This state of war is rooted in the transition from a free, independent mode of living to a regulated lifestyle within the constraints of society. Someone has to establish any society and as a result, those who establish society through control of the natural resources will monopolize power (Rousseau). As we see, art does not arrive until all physiological needs or the basic needs are met as is evident by the happy savage stage. Art arrives with the improvement of manual labor and hunter gatherer techniques in the division of labor. The division of labor in turn creates divisions within society, and we can see that evidence in the French colonial enslavement of native peoples and African slave trade throughout history. The rich and poor binary can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Who Is Esther Greenwood In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Depressions often personified as a villain that traps people and does not let them go. This is a claim most of its victims would agree with, especially Esther Greenwood. The Bell Jar, written by the Sylvia Plath, follows Esther Greenwood s descent into and recovery from madness. Esther is a young and brilliant writer, whose ambitions are stunted by a crippling depression. Plath, describes an outlook on reality that is distorted by mental illness through the symbolism of the fig tree and the bell jar. The indirect characterization of Esther also gives a perspective of this distorted reality. Though she wants to move forward, her state of mind holds her back. • 4. The Effect Of Latest Laws On Texting And Driving Introduction Recent laws outlawing texting while driving have become ambiguous, under inclusive and enforce light punishments that cannot be deterred. These laws also empower the police to carry out warrantless search for the cell phone of the driver. Texting while driving is highly dangerous and people doing so must be punished strictly, license suspensions, interlock devices preventing the usage of cell phones while driving and possible jail time (Arrigo, 2014). This particular paper is an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of latest laws implemented against texting and driving. Texting and Driving There has been a rising concern in the last few years about the potential dangers accompanying texting while driving associated largely with the increasing number of highway fatalities. Significant efforts have been made by The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) for curtailing distracted driving including texting while driving along with public service information and announcements. As per NHTSA, driving distractions are of three different forms like manual, visual and cognitive. Manual driving distractions take off the driver s hands off from the steering wheel (Kirszner Mandell, 2010). Visual driving distractions take off the driver s eyes off from the road and cognitive driving distractions take off the mind of the driver from driving. It has been stated by NHTSA that since text messaging needs visual, cognitive and manual attention on part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

African Americans have always worked harder and been treated maliciously just because of the color of their skin. There have been numerous movements, peaceful protests, and brutal battles by black leaders against whites for equality, justice, and a fair chance at a better life. It is safe to say that in the past, blacks were not allowed to progress or have a mind of their own. In comparison to the past, the educational sector for minorities still remains as an extreme societal challenge. For many years, African Americans have been denied educational advancement opportunities. The higher education area suffers greatly for the black population but very few people will address why this matter occurs. Do black families socioeconomic status affect the children s education? The socioeconomic status is easily defined as an individuals or families economic and social rank based on income, education level, and occupation. The socioeconomic status of black families does affect their children s academic success, however; it does not determine their children s success. • 10. Preacher Sermon in the Novel Flatland The novel Flatland provokes many new and interesting thoughts. The way the universe is portrayed throughout the book gives us a view of many dimensions that may exist. Flatland shows us the opportunities for the existence of different worlds and causes the reader to consider that Heaven and Hell could in fact be two different worlds that may be expanded or retracted in dimensions. A preacher may use Flatland in a sermon in a variety ways, including how Heaven may be a new and inspiring dimension with a contrastive way of sight and sound that is only achievable upon reaching Heaven. Hell may be an unspoken horror of dimension that none of us on Earth have ever experienced. One way in which a preacher may use this incredible novel in a sermon is to give the congregation an awareness of how the universe is ever changing. Heaven may indeed belong to another dimension with a different way of sight, sound, and emotion. Our God may experience many emotions at once. For example, He may be angry and forlorn, jovial, and troubled all at the same time. The variety of ways in which we attain sight, sound, and emotion causes a separation between us and God that can never be fulfilled until we reach our final destination. Sin is also a significant topic that may be discussed in a sermon relating to Flatland. While sin is existent in our dimension and is quite prevalent amongst those who belong to the realm of Earth, the dimension of Heaven has no sin. Heaven may be similar to our ... His family had died in the camp except his sister; she was the only one to survive besides him. He began to write a script while in the camps he was in (he moved to 3 different camps during the holocaust). It was called, The Doctor and The Soul. When he is talking about his involvement in the camp he noticed many people experienced shock. As a part of this he noticed most people believed that the gassing would be stopped or delayed right before their execution. There was always a tiny hope fluctuation around in the camps that they would live to see freedom. Once people started to lose optimism that they would survive, suicides were common and majority of the prisoners lacked enthusiasm and energy which created emotional emptiness. He thought that people had the ability to governor and choose their piety and mental stability. Frankl said that people struggled with not knowing when the torment and suffering would end. He thought that people who couldn t foresee themselves getting out lost control of their mental stability. When freedom does eventually arrive for those who had survived they had a hard time accepting it because they never thought it would happen. He states that some prisoners weren t even happy about being released. Once they were released the former prisoners had to relearn how to experience things that didn t revolve around suffering. Once the holocaust is over and everyone has been released the book goes on to describe the techniques to help people that are still mentally ill from the horrifying experience. Right Ventricle Lab Report The function of the right ventricle (RV) is to receive the systemic venous return and to pump this deoxygenated blood through the pulmonary arteries into the pulmonary circulation. The RV pumps the same amount of blood as the left volume pumps, this amount equals the stroke volume. The RV ejects blood against the pulmonary vascular resistance which is characterized by a low impedance and a highly distensible pulmonary arteries. On the other hand, the left ventricle (LV) ejects the blood against the systemic vascular resistance which has much higher impedance than the pulmonary resistance. As a consequence, the RV pumps the blood with about 25% of the stroke work performed by the LV. The RV operates under a lower pressure compared to the LV: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A great determinant of the afterload on the RV is the pulmonary vascular resistance. The RV can be exposed to high pressure overload states either acutely or chronically. Under acute pressure overload states, the RV responds initially by increased contractility in order to maintain the stroke volume. Initially, the increase in ESP is accompanied by increase in ESV and EDV which in turn stretches the ventricular wall augmenting the contractility (Frank Starling Law). However, the RV has limited capacity to generate higher pressure. It has been found from studies as well clinical practise that increase in RV systolic pressure by 60% is the maximum extent by which RV can respond. Later, the EF and SV will decrease as the mean ejection pressure increases, and this is reflected by a decrease in COP. In addition, the RV has thin wall and the high pressure load increase the wall tension and stress. Which leads to increase the oxygen demands causing RV ischemia. In addition, acute pressure load leads to RV dilation which cause a decrease in LV filling and eventually a decrease in COP. Acute RV pressure overload in adults often leads to RV dilation and failure. For example, in adults with acute pulmonary embolism, the RV is unable to generate pressure 40 and the condition develops to RV failure early in the presentation of acute significant pulmonary. Wine is a socialization tool or a way to celebrate an event. Wine tells us about the history and culture of a country. Wine is a symbol of prestige. Traditionally, natural cork was considered the closure of choice, especially for wine of any quality. In truth, natural cork has many advantages. It is natural, flexible and compressible with amazing anti slip properties. It is also biodegradable, 100% recyclable and, cork forests promote biodiversity. Most important natural cork has proven to be extremely suitable for long term wine aging. But wineries are switching to screw caps and other alternative closures to ensure quality and reduce the possibility of contamination with TCA (the chemical compound 2,4,6 trichloroanisole), which a wine gets with a faulty cork leaving behind the musty and damp smell but there is still the hesitation thinking that screw caps may not be provided with the same aging effect as the wines under cork does. An important advantage of the screw cap is that it really preserves the aromatic freshness and youthfulness of a wine (The Kitchen, 2008). The type of closure selected for wine has ... However, employers receive reinsurance of safety and health issues with implemented pre employment drug testing as well as randomized or ongoing drug tests. Jane Austen s Pride And Prejudice Anjan Amarnath Mr. Holaday British Literature/Writing P6 9 May 2016 Clever Title While Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice is often regarded for it s strong representations of feminism, the novel strongly portrays the Oedipus complex through the Bentley sisters unexpected and contradictory relationships. The relationship of a child with their parent is one of the strongest influences in one s later life and relations, so much so that a child is sometimes forced to repress their true desires. The novel tracks Elizabeth Bennet s relationship with Mr. Darcy, a relationship which endures a stark, unexpected change that is a result of Elizabeth s Oedipal complex. Initially, Elizabeth detests Mr. Darcy, as she views him and a narcissistic man with unreasonably high expectations; however, near the end of the novel, she becomes infatuated with him and the two end up getting married. Mr. Bennet, Elizabeth s father, is a very soft spoken man who deliberately defies his wife, his female counterpart, and doesn t seem to openly express his love for his family very often. That is, with the exception of Elizabeth who happens to be his favorite daughter, as demonstrated throughout the book through his distinct affection and care towards her and his indifference towards his other four daughters. These domains often receive less attention than some of the other domains, but they are equally important for preschool children s overall learning and development. As research that is summarized in this volume indicates, physical v vi exercise and healthy routines and nutritional choices set the stage for lifelong healthy habits. The recent NAEYC report underscores the need for children to play outside, use their large muscles, and engage in vigorous physical activities every day. Hard Boiled fiction is considered one of the more popular sub genres of detective fiction; there have been numerous films and novels about urban detectives exposing corruption in the police force and in politics. A crime, usually murder, is committed; a detective investigates the crime; a number of suspects are considered; the guilty party is discovered and imprisoned, killed, or allowed to escape at the conclusion (Detective Fiction, 1 Twentieth Century). The detective story was originally a competition between the reader and the writer. It was a game intended to challenge the intellect and stimulate though. The reader is challenged by the writer to attempt to solve the mystery with the clues provided. In the final pages of the story the reader would learn if their solution matched that of the detective (Herbert and Hillerman 3 4). Detective stories continued to be this intellectual challenge between reader and writer for many years until the hard boiled genre emerged. The first hard boiled detective was Terry Mack, who first appeared in Black Mask magazine in 1923 (Marling). This detective was quick to fight and less on an intellectual than Auguste Dupin. He battled corrupt policemen and gangsters and almost always became injured in the process. Hard Boiled detective fiction brought the complexity of the story down and added a greater sense of adventure to the novels. This attracted many readers and caused the sub genre to take off like a rocket (Marling). Hard Boiled fiction reached its peak in the 1930s and the 1940s. • 36. What Are The 4 Laws Of Thermodynamics The four fundamental laws of thermodynamics are used to define how physical quantities behave under various circumstances, these include energy, entropy, and temperature. The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy in the universe is always conserved, therefore it cannot be created or destroyed, and it can only be transformed from one form to another. The second law of thermodynamics states that entropy of isolated systems always increases, this means that in all processes of energy exchange, if no energy is introduced to or leaves a system, the sum of potential energy will be less than initial condition. The third law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of a system is maintained as the temperature decreases to absolute zero. The fourth law of thermodynamics defines temperature equilibrium between systems. The first law of thermodynamics defines that energy can be transformed but not destroyed. It s used to define the internal energy contained in a system. It s formulated by pointing out the change in internal energy in system minus work and heat that add and subtract energy in the system. Moreover, the second law helps to clarify different ways in which motors change heat into mechanical work, for example in steam turbines and car engines. The third law, also referred to as Nernst law, provides a basis for calculating absolute entropy value of substances and an analysis of phase and chemical equilibrium. The most effective and efficient way to segment a market can depend greatly on the type of product or service and, ultimately, their goals for a strategy. I find it interesting to know that companies will consider factors such as psychographic and behavioural methods in particular because they are not things I automatically assume are important to a business. Demographic, benefits and geographic factors appear much more important to me but on further study i realised that businesses will use a combination of a the methods to be more effective. Companies such as Black Milk, who earn most of their profits online consider demographic, behavioural and psychographic much more than geographic methods as the internet offers them a channel for greater customer scope than if they were to target particular locations. Companies will also evaluate the attractiveness of a market to determine whether they should pursue it. The criteria for this evaluation seems appeal to the universal objectives of businesses so in that sense, it extremely effective.
