In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows that appearance does not represent internal character by the
use of contrasting characters. Shelley uses the characters of the monster and Victor to show that
looks don t determine your personality. Physical appearance is related to internal character due to
the fact that people judge on looks before anything else. Social media, making people more
concerned with their looks, has influenced the importance of appearance. Different studies show
that people pick their friends and spouses based on appearance. Physical appearance is not an
indicator of character, but still the acceptance of someone who looks different lies in the eyes of
judgmental people.
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, physical appearance plays an immense role in the way characters
are treated. Many would believe that a beautiful exterior represents a beautiful soul, but that is
not the case. Victor creates a hideous monster that later becomes mistreated and judged solely on

As the car went past the gate, he noticed a long deep scratch along the left side of it. Right on
queue, the car drove over the nail he had planted on the path, the car swerved and came to a stop.

Dalai Lama s Invasion On Tibetan Culture
During 1950, china invaded tibet and the small tibetan army couldn t handle the stronger chinese
army and had to give in. In 1951, a peaceful liberation took place and was signed by Tibet making
many agreements with China. The biggest condition was giving authority to the chinese over Tibet.
The upcoming anniversary of this liberation should not be commemorated because this was an
invasion on the tibetan culture and on the lives of the tibetan people.
A previous icon during the time of the peaceful liberation in Tibet, was the fourteenth Dalai Lama.
He tried to preach non violence to all the angry Tibetans. People refused his ways and began to
fight the communist ways and the Lama did not support them. When Dalai Lama returned to
India to celebrate the Buddha, he did not want to go back to Tibet with all the fighting.
Eventually a big fight broke out with the chinese army and tibetan gorillas and the Dalai Lama
had to flee and was no longer welcome in Tibet with his people. This liberation ruined a religious

Forcing the communist lifestyle among not only the government but the people and forcing
nomads to no longer be nomads and settled changes the lives of the people and invades to far to
be considered peaceful. Another improvement people view in favor of the Chinese is that they
helped improve the agriculture. This proves true and it would of been a change for the better if
only the Chinese didn t take away all the privately owned farm lands in Tibet and make it their
own land. Developing better agriculture didn t feel like an accomplishment for the Tibetans
because the had no ownership over the land, meaning there is no need for a celebration in
