George Brecht was an American artist born in 1926 in New York. After serving in World War 2 and studying chemistry, he became involved in the Fluxus movement in the late 1950s. Inspired by Duchamp and Cage, Brecht created conceptual works that emphasized the viewer's experience using found objects and everyday arrangements. He is best known for his piece "Drip Music" which used water and an empty vase.
