Collage Attendance
Some students in collage they think the attendance it is not important. In fact, the attendance in
collage is big issue because some students there are don t come to class. Some teachers don t put the
attendance in grade and the students don t come because don t have grade. The attendance
important for some studentwho want to higher gpa. Should attendance in classes be mandatory in
collage for many reasons. Such as, to learn new knowledge and how want to complete their study in
high level. The first reason is why attendance in class be mandatory because to learn new
knowledge and different subject. Students who study scientific they not necessary they take only
scientific they can take anything. For example, students who their major accounting they can take
sociology or history to know about new knowledge and they know more about the different
between the subject. Also, students are come to classes not for learn but for stay with their friends.

and you will take the end of class FA or F. Also, this grade is not good for you in the future when
you want to work in a good company. The attendance will help you more in the end of class
because some teacher put the grade like a bonus for us. In conclusion, students should come to
classes every day to know about their subject and take a high degree. The degree with a high
grade is a very good for their future. I suggest students to come to their classes even to no be a
problem with their parents. When the students don t come to classes and take a FA or F their gpa

Statement Of Openminding
My background and the environment in which I was raised has shaped me into an openminded
person. I was born in Turkey and moved to America when I was four years old. I grew up being
influenced by my father s British culture and my mother s Turkish one, but I was also exposed to
many different cultures at my school. I go to an International School in Houston and I have
constantly been surrounded by members of different countries and exposed to the celebration of
multiple cultures in performances and festivals throughout the school year. The city of Houston is
a meltion pot of many different types of people from all over the world, and the celebration of
these cultures has helped me realized that everyone, no matter their race, creed, and gender deserve
equal rights and opportunities.
As a multicultural individual, I grew up learning to accept and value the mix of different cultures
and backgrounds in my community. Exposure to different cultural perspectives has shaped my
own. This intercultural understanding has shaped me into the openminded person I am today. I

Quincy s Leadership Style
Harvard University is known as the oldest institution of higher education in the United States.
Focused on a tradition of excellence for centuries, Harvard has successfully maintained its famous
legacy among society. Since it s founding in 1636, many traditions have formed and many of the
traditions have come and gone, due to the quickly changing times. The iconic shield of the
University we all associate with Harvard completed with Harvard s signature colors and Latin
motto of VERITAS. Today, the shield is seen as a longstanding tradition, but has transformed
several times over the years. Since the motto is so easily recognized today, many forget that the

Tell Tale Heart Literary Devices
Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my
mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever. Edgar Allan Poe is
the author of Tell Tale Heart, a horror story with a lot of suspense and many different literary
writing techniques infiltrated into the story. In fact, Poe is a master of suspense and horror and
the literary techniques he uses in his writing intensify these two characteristics. Three
techniques the Poe uses in Tell Tale Heart are similes, punctuation and repetition, and point of
view. One of the literary techniques that Poe uses in Tell Tale Heart are similes. One of the
reasons that Poe uses similes when he is writing Tell Tale Heart was because similes were a good
way to help get what he was thinking/his point across to the reader. An example of him doing
this in Tell Tale Heart was whenever Poe was talking about how stealthy and carefully he would
watch the man at night. Poe writes So I opened the lantern you cannot imagine how stealthily,
stealthily until at length, a single dim ray, like the thread of the spider, shot out from the crevice
and fell upon the vulture eye. This example from Tell Tale Heart also shows another reason why
Poe uses similes in his writing. This reason is because the similes that Poe uses helps his readers
see the image that he is trying to paint for them more clearly. Finally, Poe uses similes in his
writing because they can help keep his readers focused and because similes can also help grab a
reader s attention. An example of this from Tell Tale Heart is whenever Poe is talking about the
beating sound that he hears that keeps getting louder and louder. He writes, the sound
increased...and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound, as a watch enveloped in
cotton... Poe used similes like this one to help keep his readers interested in what he had to say.
In Tell Tale Heart, Poe uses punctuation and repetition to intensify his writing. One reason why
Poe likes to use this literary technique in his writing so much is because it helps build suspense in
the story. Since Poe likes to write horrifying and suspenseful stories and he likes to keep people on
the edge of their

Benefits Of Fluoride Treatments
Although tooth decay is largely preventable, it s still the most common chronic disease in children.
And while fluoride plays a key role in strengthening tooth enamel and preventing decay, parents
often opt out of in office fluoride treatments due to the lack of dental insurance and concerns over
cost. Here s why the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistryrecommends that all children, at risk
for decay, receive professional fluoride treatments and how a dental discount plan can make these
crucial services affordable for your family.
Benefits vs Cost of Fluoride Treatments
When fluoride is applied directly to the teeth, it incorporates into the outer layer of enamel, making
it harder and more resistance to bacterial acid attacks that cause tooth decay. In addition, topical
fluoride can help stop early decay by remineralizing and repairing enamel. ... Show more content on

Summary of Burro Genius Essay
Burro Genius is story about the life of Victor Villasenor showing how he overcame racism at
school and his difficulties in reading to become a famous writer.
Victor had many advantages to be a successful student. He was born in a rich family. His parents,
Salvador and Lupe, were wealthy landowners and their rancho, where they had built a beautiful
home, was very large. The rancho gave a healthy lifestyle for all his family members. Before
starting kindergarten, Victor could ride horses like an adult and was ready to live as a cowboy.
Moreover, his family was ready to help him whenever he needed.
However, school was extremely difficult to Victor. In fact, school was a different world from his
rancho, where his family loved him. He knew no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those made him think of justice after all years: He wanted to kill Moses and all of teachers who
abused him and Mexican kids. However, when he saw his father forgiving a doctor who was the
main reason of Joseph s death, he quit his revenge and excused those teachers.
Victor devoted his life to write although he could not read well. After writing for 13 years and
receiving over 260 rejections, he finally got his first book published in 1973. His publicist
requested him to attend the California Association of Teachers of English Conference and be part
of a workshop. Unfortunately, when the planned keynoter for the convention was delayed and other
authors in attendance did not volunteer to give a speech, Victor said he could.
He had planned to talk about his book Macho, but when he faced the crowd of teachers, his
experience at school came back into his mind. He said he had faced a lot of abuse and his efforts
to overcome bad teaching and become a writer. He admired good teachers with all his heart but
criticized bad teachers. That presentation was not what the audience expected. Some reacted cruelly
and left, but most of audience stayed and listened to him. After that, Victor was invited to give more
speeches to let the audience know what worked in their education system.

Eurodisney
Euro Disney: The First 100 Days The decision to open a theme park in France was not the best
idea. There were many factors that proved to hinder the advancement of progress in regards to
the European extension of Disney since its inception. The foremost would be that of the civil
unrest that seemed to plague France at the time Euro Disney was scheduled to open. There were
protests, transportation strikes, terrorist threats, etc. all which directly or indirectly affected the
Euro Disney s attendance. Also, the $10 million ad campaign seemed very costly, especially
considering the fact that this was more than two decades ago. French critics seemed to be

Euro Disney should have made the core of its theme park employee s ones who already were
employed with Disney in the US or US citizens familiar with Disney. If Euro Disney is
contemplating proceeding with a second phase, it would not be a recommended step. The
company needs to first address the issues at hand, low attendance for example, or poor customer
service. After handling those issues, only then will the company is ready to proceed with the next
step. Euro Disney has learned many lessons, the foremost being that the countries reception of a
company can positively or negatively affect the sales of said company. This is evidenced by the
extremely negative reviews and harsh French criticism received by Euro Disney and the company
not meeting expectations. The park should not be adapted for the local market because that is not
what the consumer is looking for. The customer wants to have the Disney feel, and to take away
from that by making changes to it takes away the opportunity for them to obtain that Disney feel. In
regards to staffing, Euro Disney should have outsourced to the US. Because most US citizens are
familiar with the Disney culture, they would be better suited to relay said culture to the European
population as Disney employees. Works Cited 1. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business

describe how vital the United States Marine Corps is to our nation and that through the extensive
preparation and training we receive, we have become the leading fighting force on and off the

direction and purpose of the Marine Corps has been influenced by many over the years. It shows
the pride, determination and love of the Corps and our country that Krulak felt. 6a. With respect
to the author s conclusions (either specified or implied), I accept or agree with the following and
why: His explanations of the struggle to keep the Marine Corps alive and the early development
of amphibious doctrine make this book a great tool in understanding the modern Marine Corps.
6b. With respect to the author s conclusions (either specified or implied), I reject or do not agree
with the following and why: The author points out various examples of the Corps short comings
throughout history. With the Marine Corps already struggling to stay atop its game, it didn t
shed positive light on the situations. With that said, it s hard to point out the flaws of the Corps
without also showing its achievements and how we can overcome any obstacle we are faced
with. 7a. This book made a favorable impression on me and it will change the way I approach:

A Community Of Organisms With Their Environment
An ecosystem is a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their
environment. Ecology is a branch of biology having to deal with the relations and interactions
between organisms, their environment, and other organisms. A community in an ecosystem is an
assemblage of interacting populations occupying a given area. A habitat is an area or environment
where an organism or an ecological community lives. There is a large diversity in an ecosystem, for
example, the species, environment, and the plantdiversity in the ecosystem. It s difficult to model
ecosystems because the model needs to be accurate and as well as precise.
In an ecosystem, organisms have many ways to get energy. One way is a producer, who makes
their own food. Only plants have this ability. Another way is being a consumer, who eats other
organisms for food and energy. An example of a consumer would be animals and humans. Lastly,
another way organisms can get food is being a decomposer, one who eats dead plants or animals.
Decomposers are mostly bacteria, fungus, or invertebrates. A food web is a series or organisms
related by predator prey and consumer resource interactions. It is entirety of irrelated food chains
in an ecological community. There is also a trophic level. A trophic level is any class of organisms
that occupy the same position in a food chain such a primary consumers, secondary consumers, and
tertiary consumers. An autotroph is an organism that is capable of making

Symbolism In A Worn Path
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty portrays an elderly, southern, African American woman s endurance
through a lengthy journey from her home to Natchez, Mississippi to obtain medicine for her ill
grandson. Throughout the journey, the protagonist, Phoenix Jackson, confronts several conflicts.
The tale describes the encounters of Phoenix Jackson during her travels using literary devices such
as symbolism, conflict, and allusion to detail Jackson s experiences as she overcomes the physical,
psychological, and social obstacles she faces that ultimately emphasize her character.
The story revolves around the main character, Phoenix Jackson. Jackson, an older woman with
numberless of branching wrinkles that form a whole little tree in the middle of her forehead,
encounters many setbacks, including poor eyesight, fatigue, multiple falls, thorn bushes, and barbed
wire. In Saralyn R. Daly s, A Worn PathRetrod , it is stated that Phoenix encounters not mere
difficulty on her path, but evil, (Paragraph 1). Although the obstacles seem as though they will get
the best of her, she perseveres through each like the ancient mythical bird, the phoenix. Ancient
Greek mythology says the long lived phoenix bird cyclically regenerated from its predecessor s
ashes after being engulfed in flames to burn to ash. After every fall, akin to a phoenix dying, she
rose again, stronger, persevering as a phoenix does through its death.
Phoenix Jackson s journey is only to get medicine for her grandson,

Biological And Biological Weapons
INTRODUCTION:
The evolution of the human race has subsequently seen the evolution of warfare, with the
development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), specifically the introduction of biological
and chemical weapons in war. Such additions to war has caused a shift in the perceptions of war
as citizens band together to convince their governments to avoid war at all costs. Thus, this essay
sought to explore both biological and chemical warfare and their implications on humanity, society
and the environment.
BIOLOGICAL WARFARE:
Biological warfare alternatively referred to as the germ warfare is fundamentally the utilisation of
infectious agents which include viruses, bacteria and fungi with the intent to wipe out and
damage humans, animals and plants as well as biological toxins to signify an act of war.
Biological weapons also known as bio weapons are living organisms that reproduce and duplicate
within their victims. Entomological warfare is also designed as a biological weapon.
Table 1: Summarizes the associated agents, disease, route of infection and possible release for
bacteria, viruses and toxins.
By the 1900s, the scientific revelations in germ theory and bacteriology led to possibilities of their
implementation in war.
The use of diseases and viruses in warfare was sparked by developments in microbiology
experiments
(the study of microscopic organisms, including viruses, bacteria, protozoa and fungi), leading to

Advantage And Advantages Of Airplanes
I.INTRODUCTION Vertical Take off and Landing (VTOL) and Short Take off and Landing
(STOL) flight has been one of the main interests of both the civilian and military aviation
communities throughout the history of flight. The first patented VTOL design concept was by
Nikola Tesla in 1928. In May 1951, Lockheed and Convair were awarded contracts in the attempt
to design, construct, and test two experimental VTOL fighters. As a result, Lockheed produced the
XFV, and Convair produced the Convair XFY Pogo, nicknamed the Pogo . Both experimental
programs proceeded to flight status and completed test flights 1954 1955. Similarly, the X 13 flew
a series of test flights between 1955 and 1957. But due to much higher complexity, cost and low...

Another advantage, both to operators and to nearby residents, is the large reduction in ground
noise level made possible by the utilization of the steep descent and climb out capability of the
VTOL aircraft. The VTOL airplane has great potential value in its military applications too. The
most obvious advantage is its utilization in delivering ground troops and supplies, the requirement
being only that a clearing of sufficient size exist in a reasonably level region. Tactical close air
support VTOL airplanes can operate in close proximity to zones of action out of these same
clearings, thus reducing the time required to deliver ordnance on a target, or the number of
airplanes required airborne on station. Destruction of or damage to airfield runways loses
significance if the aircraft utilizing the field have a VTOL capability. Consistent with weight and
size limitations, each VTOL airplane is capable of shipboard operations, without the requirement for
arresting hooks, catapult fittings, and the usually associated structural beef up. By the same token,
many ships, with the relatively simple addition of a landing area, are capable of operating VTOL
airplanes without the requirement for heavy and complicated arresting

The New Frontier For Our Modernized World

1800 s, the main goal for shipbuilding companies around Europe, was the crossing of the great
Atlantic Ocean. These competitions would rowel up the people of Europe, giving them more
reason to believe that mankind can perform anything. The Atlantic voyages, were the space race

just as great as the Titanic. That was the Lusitania, this ship was a grand liner, with huge
ballrooms and dining halls, for the wealthy first class. However, underneath all of this leisure
and happiness, lied a dirty secret. Underneath the hull of the Lusitania, held hundreds of pounds
of gunpowder and weapons for the fighting in World War Two. The ship was then dispatched off
the coast of England, to deliver the cargo and passengers to the Norwegian front. However, off
the coast of a picnic gathering on the coast of Ireland, a family spotted the beautiful ship gliding
across the blue water, but something they saw would change the kids and their lives forever. In
the distance, the family saw a large puff of thick black smoke rise from the bottom or the ship, the
sound then echoed through the empty pasture of grass, they could do nothing, but watch the scene

Dbq Black Death
In order to understand the significance the Black Death played in bringing about the decline in
population in the second half of the fourteenth century, a number of issues need to be considered.
To begin with, the Black Death s significance should be looked at, including its victims, the rural
and urban population, and recovery in the 1350s. Also, we have to look at the impact of later
plagues, and the age and gender specificity of them. However, we should also look at other factors
that affect the population, such as fertility and change in marriage trends. Given the particular
question we should also look at the pre plague population to get a better understanding of the
population in general. It is only by studying these issues that we can... Show more content on

The over population meant that more food had to be produced in order to sustain the population,
however, economic changes and changes in climate caused bad harvests and famine.
Unsurprisingly, there was a disproportionate rise of mortality among the village poor in times of
famine. Falling temperatures caused severe harvest failures between 1315 and 1322, with the
famine of 1315 to 1317 being called The Great Famine which is said to have killed 10 to 15% of
the population. With so many people living on the edge, the succession of bad harvests were
bound to have a catastrophic affect. A dearth of food encouraged the already high death rate and
also affected the birth rate as it discouraged fewer marriages and children, and we have already
seen the effects this had on the population after the plague. On the Winchester manors heriot
payers during the famine of 1315 to 1317 averaged at 142 annually, compared with 48 in the worst
years of the 1270s. Ieuan Gethin described the plague in Wales as being a rootless phantom which
has no mercy but the famines introduced an era of high mortality which lasted until the Black Death
, thus showing continuity in population decline. The Postan theory suggests that the plague did
not start the downturn, but the damage had already been done before the plague, and the failure
to repair the damage had been one of the causes for the delayed recovery. For instance the already
high death rates due to famine made the Black Death merely a catalyst to decline. However, the
trend is different all over the country, as Razi found for Halesowen. It is clear, however that famine
conditions in 1369 also helped to reduce the

Childhood Immunizations and Why Some Children are not Getting Vaccines:
A Literature Review
Abstract
Recent outbreaks of measles has promoted renewed interest in childhood vaccinations. However,
lingering doubts about the efficacy and safety of popular and recommended vaccines, specifically
the DTP and MMR vaccines, remain. It is not necessarily the attenuated virus portion of the
vaccines, but the ingredients which assist in the performance of the vaccines, that brings about
concern. Some studies report that, at various times and in certain populations, vaccines may pose

One reason that is resurging in the media is the notion that vaccines can be linked to autism. In
the middle is the result: cases of measles, mumps and rubella are occurring and populations of
children are at risk to contract these preventable viruses. It is therefore important to examine
whether vaccinations are indeed safe, if such vaccines pose adverse health risks, and exactly what
the nature of reasons are as to why some children do not receive their immunizations. Much of the
controversy initially arose out of a study published originally in 1998.
The Center of the Questions of VaccineSafety In 1998 Wakefield et al. published the results of a
study in the British Journal Lancet titled Ileal lymphoid nodular hyperplasia, non specific colitis,
and pervasive developmental disorder in children (Wakefield, et al., 1998). What the researchers
reported is the results of a study of 12 children who had been previously healthy, but were now
presenting at a hospital with various complaints. These included a loss of acquired skills including
language, and diarrhea and gastrointestinal pain. These children underwent extensive tests which all
returned with various results. Through the study Wakefield et al. (1998) found a correlation

US-MEXICAN WAR Essay
The U.S. Mexican War was a violent and shattering event for Mexican citizens that lasted from
1846 1848 in what is now the state of Texas. It drastically altered the course of Mexican and
American history for years to come. It occurred because of the unsettled disputes about the borders
of newly annexed Texas. Once the debilitating battle ended, the United Statesemerged a world
power having acquired more than 500,000 square miles of valuable territory. There are many
potentially feasible explanations on the cause of the war; including, fault laying with American
slaveholders for conquest of Mexico, the war as an American plot and responsibility lying with
President Polk of the United States. However, this paper focuses on the three... Show more content

The U.S. soon saw themselves masters of Louisiana, [ready to] spread their snares at once for

migration from the U.S. as its citizens were still in the midst of the Mexican Revolution. It was
the insatiable ambition of the United States, favored by [Mexican] weakness that was the
principle cause of the U.S. Mexican War. However, soon after the Mexican Republic was
formed, it was realized that the U.S. expansion into Mexico could become a real danger. Mexico
had just attained its freedom from Spain in the 1820s and as such, did not want to fall into
another malevolent trap with the U.S., leaving its citizens unsure on how to proceed without
starting a war. This is in part because not all migration was unsolicited before the annexation of
Texas. After Mexico declared its independence from Spain it needed more settlers to populate the
areas of Mexico without many citizens living in its regions. Thus, in order to ease tensions
between the countries a proposal was created that involved U.S. citizens living in Texas to become
citizens of Mexico and pledge allegiance to the Mexican nation. They would become Catholics and
obey the laws of their new nation. However, what was decided on paper and what the settlers
actually did were inconsistent with each other. The settlers were unhappy with the rules of their

relationship. The relationship between every daughter and their mother was different, but all of the
joy luck club members wanted their daughter to succeed. Each mother cared for their daughter
exceptionally so and even portrayed wanting their daughter to have it much better than they ever
did. For example, Lindo Jong and her daughter, Waverly Jong, had an interesting relationship. Lindo
always wanted Waverly to strive in her childhood talent, chess. Waverly slowly built up anger
towards her motheras she would always try recommending strategies to use and ways to attack
during competition as well as treat Waverly as a trophy for her achievements. In... Show more

This points further to the conclusion that she didn t put her children first just as the Joy Luck Club
mothers did. In connection to the caring nature that was emphasized throughout the novel, it is
easy to compare it to my relationship with my mother. Similar to Lindo, my mother is proud of
me and shows that to the people around her. Although Waverly was ashamed of it in the novel, I
am grateful that mother speaks so highly of me. In the novel, June s feelings about wanting to
live up to her mothers expectation were really strong. I feel the same way in wanting to show my
mom that I can go above and beyond what she expects from me. In conclusion, this theme was
displayed in every aspect of the novel and is easy to share experiences with, but can even be
shown in the worst ways of a relationship between a daughter and a mother, just as the article
brought to light.

The Battle of Coral Sea Essay
The Battle of Coral Sea was the first major sea battle between allied fleet forces, including those
of the United States and Australian Navies, and the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during World
War II. Pivotal in terms of allied naval fleet operations during the war, the Battle of Coral Sea
was also the first naval battle that featured opposing air craft carriers in close proximity to each
other, resulting in air battles initiated by sea, rather than from traditional land bases. The
following provides relevant details. The plan calling for expansion of Japanese forces throughout
the Pacific theater was developed by the IJN and Japanese Army. As detailed by Stille, This called

This had the effect of reducing the contingent of allied aircraft carriers in the Pacific by half.
Hence, when the Japanese launched their next offensive in the Southern Pacific, the IJN fleet
would now be augmented with carrier support, while U.S Naval forces suffered from a reduction
in the same support vital to their mission of defending a major Japanese offensive (Stille 8). Prior
to the upcoming Coral Sea battle, a number of Japanese military messages had been intercepted by
the U.S. Navy signals intelligence unit. The first, dated March 28, 1942, was encoded as stating
The objective of MO will be first to restrict the enemy fleet movements and will be accomplished
by means of attacks on the north coast of Australia. ( Battle of the Coral Sea ) Subsequent
messages were intercepted that provided allied forces with updated details concerning IJN fleet
progress, as well as elements of IJN plans that included battleship and carrier logistics. This
resulted in the U.S. Navy s deployment of a cotillion of numerous warships and support craft, and
also the carriers Lexington and Yorktown ( Battle of the Coral Seas ). In the upcoming battle,
these ships would do battle against a superior IJN force comprised of far more battleships,
submarines and support craft, as well as aircraft carriers. While the events leading up to the battle

What Is Almond Production In California
Almond Production in California Almonds are one of the most loved nuts all over the world.
According to the National Writing Project, 70 percent of almonds are exported to other countries.
They can be used for milk, baking, or just flavoring up any dish. Almonds are produced in sunny
California. Unfortunately, California has been suffering through an atrocious drought. Almonds use
a great amount of water to grow, approximately 1 gallon. (Philpott) The drought is a bad thing for
almondproduction but also for water available to citizens as well as the other crops that farmers are
trying to grow.
Because almonds require so much water, it is putting other crops in a decline. (Philpott). According
to the article, How Almonds Became a Scapegoat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The almond industry is responsible for thousands of jobs and is a very big money maker for the
economy. If there aren t as many almonds produced, the income from these nuts will drastically
drop. Another factor is the nut itself changing. Water is a huge challenge, said Richard Waycott,
chief executive of the state almond board. The stingy water supplies resulted in smaller almonds
this year. (Pierson). People love almonds for their size and health benefits. Almonds are an
excellent source of Vitamin E, B Vitamins, Magnesium, Fiber, Calcium, Potassium,
Monounsaturated Fat, and Protein (Almond Growth Explained). This is a reason why the export
of almonds overseas to other countries is a big deal. The health benefits are key to the success of
the almond. The expectations of farmers are high to produce enough almonds to fulfill the growing
demands. Even if the amount was the same, the size of almonds would make a big difference in
consumers buying them. Still, with almond prices nearly doubling in the last five years to $2.58 a
pound, it s little wonder that growers have been abandoning crops such as cotton and furiously
planting almond trees.

Persuasive Essay On The Matrix
As we grew up, and got into a more understanding stage as a kid, we always have questioned
everything that comes new to us, with the, five W s, (when, where, why, who and what). We
experienced new things like, different hobbies, food, traveling to new places, etc. As we enter the
teenage years, we think our main goal in life is to, go to school, graduate, school again, graduate
and finally our dream job, but life isn t that easy isn t? Life involves money, dealing with people,
meeting new people, drama and other struggling situations. Life is not easy because many things
come one it. Watching The Matrixgave me a real life lesson and made me more open minded about
life that can help anybody. I believe The Matrix answers some questions concerning serious life
issues like, self doubting, taking revenge and taking a new path into your life. Self doubting makes
us feel unwanted and unbelieving on your self when it comes to any situation. Taking revenge only
takes place when somebody is mad at one another by mostly being jealous. Taking a new path may
be a start to something better, and start understanding what you re here for. In The Matrix ,
Morpheusfinds Neo because he knows he is the one. After Morpheus find him and tells him you
re the one , Neo is confused and wants more answers. Morpheus gives Neo two options to take the
blue pill or the red pill. If he takes the red pill, he will know all the answers he s been wanted to

criteria, avoidance of trauma related stimuli, is met because Rod is constantly avoiding his son as
he is reminded of the boy that he shot. The fourth criteria, negative alterations in cognitions and

Neorealism In Bicycle Thieves, And Roberto Rossellini
Vittorio De Sica and Roberto Rossellini composed two of the most influential Italian films of all
time. Their productions of such captivating and eloquent pieces, during critical moments in Italy s
history, have shed light upon ethics and political quarrel present after the world wars. The wars left
Italyin a devastating state, the economy ruptured, and the film industry dismantled by this
detrimental catastrophe. With the introduction of neorealist films Bicycle Thieves and Rome
Open City, society becomes acquainted with the richness of everyday life in Italy. De Sica s
Bicycle Thieves demonstrates a pure vision of neorealism, making each event as objective as
possible, reinforcing the meaningfulness of reality, and reproducing it at exceptional degrees. On
the other hand, Rossellini s Rome Open City offers a diverse approach to neorealism, straying
away from the conventional rules, depicting Italy in light of Fascist regimes, and focusing its
attention on the attitudes of individuals in political crisis. De Sica s Bicycle Thieves, and Rosselini
s Rome Open City, are films that differ in the representation of societal values and political attitudes.
Bicycle Thieves is an alluring piece, which details the undue hardship Italy faces after World War
II (WWII) in 1948. There are various aspects within the film that demonstrate the undeniable pure
quality of De Sica s work as a neorealist picture. Antonio Ricci, played by Lamberto Maggiorani,

Listening, Smell, And Taste With Forts
47758 Touch, Look, Listen, Smell, and Taste With Forts
Think back to a favorite childhood memory and the sense that most often triggers it. Does the feel
of dough between your fingers remind you of being in the kitchen with Grama? Does the color
combination of red and purple stir familiar feelings inside you? Perhaps the spring sun on your skin
gathers memories of backyard games with neighborhood friends.
Most of our powerful memories associate an experience with a sense. These sense based reactions
then become triggers for recall. Sensory experiences and, therefore, sensory play, are valuable in the
development of our children.
Engaging the senses promotes learning and retention. Touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste allow
humans to explore the world. With each interaction, we take in more valuable information, even
unconsciously. Experience is our teacher.
Solving problems and participating in make believe comes with exploring the world through play.
These activities express creativity and build confidence. Furthermore, sensory play develops and
refines the senses. This valuable childhood activity proves therapeutic, improves motor skills,
increases awareness of the world and promotes language acquisition.
Using Fort Magic kits fosters the use of the senses naturally. Children of all ages love forts and

A Study On The Healthcare Field
From an early age, I gained much knowledge about the healthcare field. My younger brother was
diagnosed with Autism, Psychosis, and Asperger. My mother was diagnosed with depression,
anxiety disorder, diabetes and hyper blood tension. Due to my mom not being educated, she
cannot read or write in Spanish or English. I was forced to learn everything in the healthcare field.
I quickly became intrigued of each specialized field when I took my family to their doctors
appointments. A few qualities I looked for when searching for new physicianwas affordability,
patient satisfaction, and a well organized practice. Not everyone has affordable insurance, or
receives the best quality of care due to poor organized facilities. My true passion towards the
healthcare field arose when I started on my career in the financial department. I knew that I wanted
to help a group of people and the healthcare facilities to create affordable and quality care. As the
next healthadministrative leader I wantto make a difference by offering a well managed healthcare
facility, providing effective quality care, and high patient satisfaction to all healthcare facilities. In
my current role as a financial counselor, I am exposed to several diverse backgrounds, insurances,
and medical procedures. Each day I learn something new and met new patients that hold an
interesting story. I have learned that their stories are never the same and it s important to treat them

Relationship between conflict of interest and firm innovativeness: An interest may be defined as
a commitment, goal, or value held by an individual or an institution. Conflict of interests exists
when two or more contra indicatory interests relate to an activity by an individual or an

individuals. That means a conflict of interest is not intrinsically a bad thing. A conflict of interest
is a situation in which a corporation or person with a vested interest in a company becomes
unreliable because of the clash between personal interests and professional interests. An example

Critical Analysis on Edwidge Danticat s A Wall of Fire Rising
A Wall of Fire Rising , short story written by Edwidge Danticat, presents one man s desire for the
freedom and also, the gap between reality and fantasy which is created by the desire. Two
different perspectives of evaluating the life bring the conflict between the Guy and Lili who are
parents to the little guy. Throughout the story, the Guy implies that he wants to do something
that people will remind of him, but Lili who is opposing to the Guy, tries to settle the Guy down
and keep up with the normal life that they are belong to. The Guy is aggressive, adventurous and

that we may either live freely or we should die. (Danticat 150) The guy wiped his tear after he

Lili answers His heart hurts, (155) Because of the guy feels pity on himself, he considers his
own life as if it is meant for nothing. He does not want to continue with his boring life but, he
desires some excitement or magnificent changes to get involved in his life. To put this simply,
he wants to live freely, the guy has too much burdens on his shoulders, such as he is the one who
need to sacrifice his life to maintain the ordinary life of the family. It was now easier for him to
imagine their son s lips around those breasts than to imagine his anywhere near them. (90) This
phrase implies that the Guy does not feel Lili as a woman but more like little guy s mother. It also
foreshadows that there is not much things that would hold the Guy to stay in the ordinary life.
While the little guy s line from the play ignites the Guy s decision, the hot air balloon is the method
of practicing his dream. The Guy keeps telling his wife that he knows how the balloon flies and it

Humanitarian Assistance In Guatemala
Despite significant developments in the health of the population, Guatemala continues to
experience an abundance of health related issues such as communicable diseases, sever
undernutrition and maternal mortality, in addition to an increase of non communicable diseases
and injuries due to factors such as violence or vehicle collisions (World Health Organizations,
2014). The United States and Guatemalaare on a continuing partnership with the initiative to
support Guatemala by improving the level of food security, preventing HIV/AIDS, eliminating the
impact of climate change, promoting health, and educational changes (Davis, 2016). From March
to May 2016, the U.S. Army Southern Command conducted the Beyond the Horizon mission that

policy in the Western Hemisphere emphasizes a high precedence on human rights, social inclusion,
and economic opportunity (Guatemalan Relations). In 1992, the National Military Strategy was
created to with the intent of forward presence, which means that regardless of the lack of threat, the
U.S endures to have commitments to their foreign allies during peace time (Sutton, 1992). One of
the essential roles for the US Armed forces in forward presence missions is humanitarian assistance.
Humanitarian nation assistance is defined by the type of support provided to support a nation to
promote its own viable development and progress of receptive organizations. The intent of
humanitarian nation assistance is to help provide long term stability, diverse governments,
sustainable economies, and development for systematic amendments. The nation assistance
developments are conducted at the request of the host nation and are included in the U.S.
ambassador s entire country plan. Afflicted by poverty and minimal health care resources,
Guatemala is a nation in Central America with significant high disease burden prevalence. At the
request of the Guatemalan government, the U.S Department of Defense agreed to conduct
humanitarian assistance in Guatemala by identifying the need to improve food security, nutrition,
health, and education of their local population to build a stable nation. In response to Guatemalan
government request, the US Ambassador identifies the most necessitated areas, which is generally
a rural, underprivileged area that is need of humanitarian assistance. Both countries agreed to work
alongside of each other through the Beyond the Horizon mission, which would provide
humanitarian aid through construction developments and medical care events. The Army South
Command invested $10 million dollars throughout the mission, and Guatemala invested about
$130,500 (Guatemalan Armed Forces, 2016). In order to prepare for this event , in 2014, the

Social Classes In Shel Silverstein s Lock
Class as a noun could be defined as a system of ordering a society in which people are divided into
sets based on perceived social or economic status. Any person you look at could be found within a
class, weather it s because of economic, social, age, skin color, and gender. Every human is
categorized. Social classesaffect the way you live. This can include having everything done for
you or having to do everything and anything for yourself, but how belonging to these classes
affect the way you think and see the world? Two poems were presented to four individuals. The
first individual is a male lower middle classmember. The second individual is a higher class male
member, followed by one male and one female higher middle class members. All were presented
the two poems and asked to interpret them in their own words. The higher class male and the
lower middle class males will be our subject focus. The first poem is Masks by Shel Silversteinand
the second poem is The Bridge also by Shel Silverstein.

and thoughtfulness in some moments of the process. Male A was later overcome by the simple
answer of I don t know . On the other hand Male B from a lower middle class had more emotional

imagination to even add on to a poem. Both males had almost opposite sets of answers and
attitudes towards the situation itself. At the end of both sessions both mails were asked why they

Kitak Relationship In The Kite Runner
Thesis: Khaled Hosseini strongly argues the importance of family coming together despite their
differences because family is all a person has in the end.
Amir and his father s weak relationship in Afghanistan changes when Amir finally accomplishes
something Baba can be proud about, spreading light of a possible close relationship in the future.
At the beginning of the novel, Baba is talking with his friend, Rahim Khan, about his worries for
Amir not standing up for himself, when he is being bullied. Khan responds to Baba saying,
Children aren t coloring books. You don t get to fill them in with your favorite colors (Hosseini 21).
This quote illustrates the difficult relationship Amir and his father have with each other because
Baba wants to mold him into the perfect son, but Amir does not find appreciation in the same things
as Baba, causing this mold to be ruined. Amir and Baba being polar opposites causes them to
naturally separate from each other because Baba likes building luxury to fit his ego, but Amir
values the smaller gestures people do in life. Once Amir finally does something that makes Baba
proud and improves their ego, Baba starts to appreciate Amir more and tries to do more things
with him. This is depicted when Hosseini writes, Baba and I were finally friends (Hosseini 85).
Although Amir thinks they are close, they are not as close as they could be because Baba usually
invites friends and family to join them on their outings. Also, when they are alone it is very
awkward for the two of them because they do not know each other very well. The reason Amir
feels like he is gaining his father s acceptance is because he is taking him places, rather than
ignoring his existence completely, which is a significant step compared to their relationship before.
This step in their relationship illustrates they have a chance at becoming even closer in the future.
The father and son relationship truly transforms when they move to the United States and both find
appreciation in the other s differences because they only have each other. When they move it is
very difficult for Baba to assimilate to life in America, causing him to get very frustrated. He starts
to rely more on Amir for help and as a

Sports And Music Festival At Las Vegas
A Skateboarder s Legacy
So I was chilling with my friends in the park, skateboarding they talked about the Broadway
Bomb and some other stuff. I asked them what the Broadway Bomb was, they told me that it
was a 7.9 mile race along Broadway in Manhattan. Although I ve met Skateboarding Celebrities
like Tony Hawk and Eric Koston, I ve never had a chance to go skateboarding with them. But
most of the Celebrity Skateboarders don t even practice their Skateboarding Skills. After seeing
Tony Hawk s victory in 1999 in the MTV Sports and Music Festival at Las Vegas, he really
inspired me to be a Skateboarder. After thinking for a lot of hours, I thought I would ask some of

officials of Broadway Bomb and ask them if I could have his email, they simply said, we do not

So, the person she from the Broadway Bomb office was exceptionally nice on the phone. I
headed to the SLS office in downtown Manhattan and met the receptionist and asked her for an
application form while I was filling out a form I met a bald guy with a leather jacket and black
shirt. He didn t look like a skateboarder to me, so I assumed his name was Andrew because his
jacket had the name stitched on it. After about a minute after his appearance in my life, he faced
towards me and told me that he saw potential in me and I replied, and who are you again? I asked
him, I m Toad Fletcher, a Professional Skateboarder, and Coach . He asked me if I was interested in
Coaching for SLS League and I replied Yes . He asked me to be at Brooklyn Banks in New York at

The Role Of PTSD In Vietnam Veterans
This is very difficult for people to get jobs and have a social life. PTSD can make somebody hard
to be with. Living with someone who is easily startled, has nightmares, and often avoids social
situations can take a toll on the most resilient family. Research shows that Vietnam Veterans have
more marital problems and family violence. Their children have more behavior problems than do
those of Veterans without PTSD. Veterans with the most severe symptoms had families with the
worst communication. This is because people who have PTSD have a hard time feeling emotions
or expressing them. They may feel detached from others. This can cause problems in personal
relationships with the spouse. The numbing and avoidance that occurs with PTSD is linked

The Gospel Of Wealth By Andrew Carnegie
Wealth is something that not all people have, but most typically want more of it. There are many
people on Earth that wish they had more wealth, and there are even a select few that have too
much. The Gospel of Wealth by Andrew Carnegie is all about what should be done when there is
too much wealth held by an individual. Carnegie begins his essay by describing how the disparity
of wealthhas changed over the years. He also describes how wealth has simply grown in general
over time. Carnegie states, What were the luxuries have become the necessaries of life . He then
goes on to discuss ways that excess wealth accumulated by any one person can be spent or
distributed. There are three ways, or modes, that Carnegie touches on in order to dispose

Failed Compromises In The 1800s
Failed Compromises
During the 1800 s, many conflicts and disagreements brought the nation to its ruins and
originated the American Civil War which couldn t have been avoided at any cost. A Compromise

bad from happening. The Abolitionist movement, on the other hand, is the general reaction

main concern was what everyone questioned themselves, how can we be considered a free country
when we have slaves? Due to this, Abolitionist either encouraged slaves to rise up in revolt, or
helped slaves escape because they too, had experienced the cruelty and mistreatment. The Missouri

The Importance Of Special Needs Children
When I was younger you could have asked me what I wanted to be and you would think that it
might have been the same answers every little girl gives. But not me. I was different, I didn t
want to be a princess, a celebrity, an astronaut or even a famous singer. No, I wanted to be a
special needs teacher. People have asked me, Why teach special needs kids? And I simply tell
them, There is something special about them that makes me want to be around them. I want to
help them learn new things . Kids with special needs hold a big portion of my heart. Why? you
might ask. Well, special needs kids have always been extremely important to me. The number
one reason I love kids with special needs is because of my twin sister. My twin sister has a rare
syndrome called Smith Magenis Syndrome. It is especially rare for only one of the twins to have
the syndrome and the other one to not have it.
What is a sped it s a teacher who works and teaches kids that have special needs. Being a sped

Two Main Concept In The Sorrows Of Goethe
He studied science also as he was interested in it too. He studied Anatomy, Botany, Optics, Geology
and the Morphology a subject that he liked the most (Ibid). He also studied light carefully and gave

Goethe).
On March 15, 1832 Goethe suffered from sudden respiratory attack that he believed is for few
moments. He dressed himself and set on armchair where he died and was laid together with Schiller

Goethe claims that he wrote this book in four weeks. It was published in Germany and was soon
translated in many languages (Goethe Autobiography: Truth and Fiction...). The book has two
major themes; an unhappy love, rebel against bourgeois society and religious doctrines. Carlyle
says, The Sorrows of young Wertherdescribed the feelings of modern minds. These are the feelings
which English poetry never offered and perhaps can not (Goethe Autobiography: Truth and
Fiction...). Book can be called semi autobiography of Goethe. Henry Lewes says, Werther is not
Goethe but part of him (1968). Kestner, friend of Goethe, once said to him after the publication of
Werther that he has not described sincerely the relationship of Charlotte with Goethe himself, it has
been exaggerated (Ibid).
The novel describes rebel against social and religious conventions. It refuses compromise on the
social evils too. Suicide of Werther is the representation of rebel against the bourgeois society and
sincerity with the humanistic ideals of Werther; that he knows no compromise on this situation.

Fast Food Advertising Causing Obesity
Fast Food Advertising Causing Obesity
I think America s food culture is embedded in fast food culture. And the real question that we have
is: How are we going to teach slow food values in a fast food world? Of course, it s very, very
difficult to do, especially when children have grown up eating fast food and the values that go with
that (Waters). The fast food industry is controlled by many powerful companies who feel the need
to keep costs low. This is because they believe that the lower the costs, the more consumers they ll
gain, which keeps profits high. Between 1960 and 1973, McDonald s restaurants expanded from
250 to 3,000. The US is the most notorious for fast food, which is tied up with the first automobile

it causes obesity, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure.
Fast food is a major health issue because it causes obesity. In the article, Obesity and Fast Food ,
Dr. Anaya Mandel claims, It is well known that eating out may lead to excess calorie intake and
increases the risk of obesity because of large portion sizes and increased energy density of foods
(1). This author is stating that restaurants such as McDonald s can cause obesity. Thus, eating at
any fast food restaurant can increase chances of obesity. Meals at these restaurants are cheap,
therefore people in a rush or people who regularly consume fast foods will end up buying the
cheaper and greasier meals. The dollar menu on many fast food restaurant drive in menus may
seem like a better buy to customers, but, the cookies, sweets, and sandwiches are all what creates
the fats in their bodies. It will eventually increase the calories in their body and cause them to gain
weight and develop obesity. American psychological association article states, in America, the rates
of obesity have about tripled in children and youths(1). Younger people in America have started

Use And Manipulation Of The English Language
The proper use and manipulation of the English language, skills so difficult to learn, reap a
great deal of power when mastered. As hyperbolic as it sounds, being able to use and manipulate
the English language properly into our writing and speaking can be very influential in
advocating ideas towards a community. As a speaker, you have some influence on the extent to
which others see you as having authority (Fontaine and Smith 13). To gain authority over an
audience, one must write and speak with confidence and be skilled enough to use proper
English: that is, following the standard rules of grammar and incorporating complex sentences
and a wide range of vocabulary. In addition, the manipulation of the English language in writing
and speaking, with the use of figurative language and compositional techniques, makes the
writing more persuasive. Speaking properly and effectively will change the way we talk and will
change the way people will listen to us. By displaying knowledge and skill towards the widely
accepted language, we make our speaking and writing more impactful, gaining authority over our
audience. It was through my past experience that I came to a realization that impactful speaking
and writing, possible through the use of proper English, serve as an agent for grasping my
audience s attention. Being elected as the former President of my high school, it was my obligation
to lead nearly a thousand students. With such an honorable role, every task required to

I grew up being influenced by my father s British culture and my mother s Turkish one, but I was also exposed to many different cultures at my school. I go to an International School in Houston and I have constantly been surrounded by members of different countries and exposed to the celebration of multiple cultures in performances and festivals throughout the school year. The city of Houston is a meltion pot of many different types of people from all over the world, and the celebration of these cultures has helped me realized that everyone, no matter their race, creed, and gender deserve equal rights and opportunities. As a multicultural individual, I grew up learning to accept and value the mix of different cultures and backgrounds in my community. Exposure to different cultural perspectives has shaped my own. • 5. Tell Tale Heart Literary Devices Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever. Edgar Allan Poe is the author of Tell Tale Heart, a horror story with a lot of suspense and many different literary writing techniques infiltrated into the story. In fact, Poe is a master of suspense and horror and the literary techniques he uses in his writing intensify these two characteristics. Three techniques the Poe uses in Tell Tale Heart are similes, punctuation and repetition, and point of view. One of the literary techniques that Poe uses in Tell Tale Heart are similes. One of the reasons that Poe uses similes when he is writing Tell Tale Heart was because similes were a good way to help get what he was thinking/his point across to the reader. An example of him doing this in Tell Tale Heart was whenever Poe was talking about how stealthy and carefully he would watch the man at night. Poe writes So I opened the lantern you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily until at length, a single dim ray, like the thread of the spider, shot out from the crevice and fell upon the vulture eye. This example from Tell Tale Heart also shows another reason why Poe uses similes in his writing. This reason is because the similes that Poe uses helps his readers see the image that he is trying to paint for them more clearly. Finally, Poe uses similes in his writing because they can help keep his readers focused and because similes can also help grab a reader s attention. An example of this from Tell Tale Heart is whenever Poe is talking about the beating sound that he hears that keeps getting louder and louder. He writes, the sound increased...and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound, as a watch enveloped in cotton... Poe used similes like this one to help keep his readers interested in what he had to say. In Tell Tale Heart, Poe uses punctuation and repetition to intensify his writing. One reason why Poe likes to use this literary technique in his writing so much is because it helps build suspense in the story. Since Poe likes to write horrifying and suspenseful stories and he likes to keep people on the edge of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Eurodisney Euro Disney: The First 100 Days The decision to open a theme park in France was not the best idea. There were many factors that proved to hinder the advancement of progress in regards to the European extension of Disney since its inception. The foremost would be that of the civil unrest that seemed to plague France at the time Euro Disney was scheduled to open. There were protests, transportation strikes, terrorist threats, etc. all which directly or indirectly affected the Euro Disney s attendance. Also, the $10 million ad campaign seemed very costly, especially considering the fact that this was more than two decades ago. French critics seemed to be excessively harsh as well. Euro Disney should have made the core of its theme park employee s ones who already were employed with Disney in the US or US citizens familiar with Disney. If Euro Disney is contemplating proceeding with a second phase, it would not be a recommended step. The company needs to first address the issues at hand, low attendance for example, or poor customer service. After handling those issues, only then will the company is ready to proceed with the next step. Euro Disney has learned many lessons, the foremost being that the countries reception of a company can positively or negatively affect the sales of said company. This is evidenced by the extremely negative reviews and harsh French criticism received by Euro Disney and the company not meeting expectations. The park should not be adapted for the local market because that is not what the consumer is looking for. The customer wants to have the Disney feel, and to take away from that by making changes to it takes away the opportunity for them to obtain that Disney feel. In regards to staffing, Euro Disney should have outsourced to the US. Because most US citizens are familiar with the Disney culture, they would be better suited to relay said culture to the European population as Disney employees. It shows the pride, determination and love of the Corps and our country that Krulak felt. 6a. With respect to the author s conclusions (either specified or implied), I accept or agree with the following and why: His explanations of the struggle to keep the Marine Corps alive and the early development of amphibious doctrine make this book a great tool in understanding the modern Marine Corps. 6b. With respect to the author s conclusions (either specified or implied), I reject or do not agree with the following and why: The author points out various examples of the Corps short comings throughout history. With the Marine Corps already struggling to stay atop its game, it didn t shed positive light on the situations. With that said, it s hard to point out the flaws of the Corps without also showing its achievements and how we can overcome any obstacle we are faced with. 7a. • 11. A Community Of Organisms With Their Environment An ecosystem is a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their environment. Ecology is a branch of biology having to deal with the relations and interactions between organisms, their environment, and other organisms. A community in an ecosystem is an assemblage of interacting populations occupying a given area. A habitat is an area or environment where an organism or an ecological community lives. There is a large diversity in an ecosystem, for example, the species, environment, and the plantdiversity in the ecosystem. It s difficult to model ecosystems because the model needs to be accurate and as well as precise. In an ecosystem, organisms have many ways to get energy. One way is a producer, who makes their own food. Only plants have this ability. Another way is being a consumer, who eats other organisms for food and energy. An example of a consumer would be animals and humans. Lastly, another way organisms can get food is being a decomposer, one who eats dead plants or animals. Decomposers are mostly bacteria, fungus, or invertebrates. A food web is a series or organisms related by predator prey and consumer resource interactions. • 12. Symbolism In A Worn Path A Worn Path by Eudora Welty portrays an elderly, southern, African American woman s endurance through a lengthy journey from her home to Natchez, Mississippi to obtain medicine for her ill grandson. Throughout the journey, the protagonist, Phoenix Jackson, confronts several conflicts. The tale describes the encounters of Phoenix Jackson during her travels using literary devices such as symbolism, conflict, and allusion to detail Jackson s experiences as she overcomes the physical, psychological, and social obstacles she faces that ultimately emphasize her character. The story revolves around the main character, Phoenix Jackson. Jackson, an older woman with numberless of branching wrinkles that form a whole little tree in the middle of her forehead, encounters many setbacks, including poor eyesight, fatigue, multiple falls, thorn bushes, and barbed wire. In Saralyn R. Daly s, A Worn PathRetrod , it is stated that Phoenix encounters not mere difficulty on her path, but evil, (Paragraph 1). Although the obstacles seem as though they will get the best of her, she perseveres through each like the ancient mythical bird, the phoenix. Ancient Greek mythology says the long lived phoenix bird cyclically regenerated from its predecessor s ashes after being engulfed in flames to burn to ash. After every fall, akin to a phoenix dying, she rose again, stronger, persevering as a phoenix does through its death. Phoenix Jackson s journey is only to get medicine for her grandson, ... • 13. Biological And Biological Weapons INTRODUCTION: The evolution of the human race has subsequently seen the evolution of warfare, with the development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), specifically the introduction of biological and chemical weapons in war. Such additions to war has caused a shift in the perceptions of war as citizens band together to convince their governments to avoid war at all costs. Thus, this essay sought to explore both biological and chemical warfare and their implications on humanity, society and the environment. BIOLOGICAL WARFARE: Biological warfare alternatively referred to as the germ warfare is fundamentally the utilisation of infectious agents which include viruses, bacteria and fungi with the intent to wipe out and damage humans, animals and plants as well as biological toxins to signify an act of war. Biological weapons also known as bio weapons are living organisms that reproduce and duplicate within their victims. Entomological warfare is also designed as a biological weapon. Table 1: Summarizes the associated agents, disease, route of infection and possible release for bacteria, viruses and toxins. By the 1900s, the scientific revelations in germ theory and bacteriology led to possibilities of their implementation in war. The use of diseases and viruses in warfare was sparked by developments in microbiology experiments (the study of microscopic organisms, including viruses, bacteria, protozoa and fungi), leading to gained knowledge of how to grow and ... Advantage And Advantages Of Airplanes I.INTRODUCTION Vertical Take off and Landing (VTOL) and Short Take off and Landing (STOL) flight has been one of the main interests of both the civilian and military aviation communities throughout the history of flight. The first patented VTOL design concept was by Nikola Tesla in 1928. In May 1951, Lockheed and Convair were awarded contracts in the attempt to design, construct, and test two experimental VTOL fighters. As a result, Lockheed produced the XFV, and Convair produced the Convair XFY Pogo, nicknamed the Pogo . Both experimental programs proceeded to flight status and completed test flights 1954 1955. Similarly, the X 13 flew a series of test flights between 1955 and 1957. But due to much higher complexity, cost and low... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another advantage, both to operators and to nearby residents, is the large reduction in ground noise level made possible by the utilization of the steep descent and climb out capability of the VTOL aircraft. The VTOL airplane has great potential value in its military applications too. The most obvious advantage is its utilization in delivering ground troops and supplies, the requirement being only that a clearing of sufficient size exist in a reasonably level region. Tactical close air support VTOL airplanes can operate in close proximity to zones of action out of these same clearings, thus reducing the time required to deliver ordnance on a target, or the number of airplanes required airborne on station. Destruction of or damage to airfield runways loses significance if the aircraft utilizing the field have a VTOL capability. Consistent with weight and size limitations, each VTOL airplane is capable of shipboard operations, without the requirement for arresting hooks, catapult fittings, and the usually associated structural beef up. By the same token, many ships, with the relatively simple addition of a landing area, are capable of operating VTOL airplanes without the requirement for heavy and complicated arresting ... • 16. Dbq Black Death In order to understand the significance the Black Death played in bringing about the decline in population in the second half of the fourteenth century, a number of issues need to be considered. To begin with, the Black Death s significance should be looked at, including its victims, the rural and urban population, and recovery in the 1350s. Also, we have to look at the impact of later plagues, and the age and gender specificity of them. However, we should also look at other factors that affect the population, such as fertility and change in marriage trends. Given the particular question we should also look at the pre plague population to get a better understanding of the population in general. It is only by studying these issues that we can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The over population meant that more food had to be produced in order to sustain the population, however, economic changes and changes in climate caused bad harvests and famine. Unsurprisingly, there was a disproportionate rise of mortality among the village poor in times of famine. Falling temperatures caused severe harvest failures between 1315 and 1322, with the famine of 1315 to 1317 being called The Great Famine which is said to have killed 10 to 15% of the population. With so many people living on the edge, the succession of bad harvests were bound to have a catastrophic affect. A dearth of food encouraged the already high death rate and also affected the birth rate as it discouraged fewer marriages and children, and we have already seen the effects this had on the population after the plague. On the Winchester manors heriot payers during the famine of 1315 to 1317 averaged at 142 annually, compared with 48 in the worst years of the 1270s. Ieuan Gethin described the plague in Wales as being a rootless phantom which has no mercy but the famines introduced an era of high mortality which lasted until the Black Death , thus showing continuity in population decline. The Postan theory suggests that the plague did not start the downturn, but the damage had already been done before the plague, and the failure to repair the damage had been one of the causes for the delayed recovery. For instance the already high death rates due to famine made the Black Death merely a catalyst to decline. However, the trend is different all over the country, as Razi found for Halesowen. It was the insatiable ambition of the United States, favored by [Mexican] weakness that was the principle cause of the U.S. Mexican War. However, soon after the Mexican Republic was formed, it was realized that the U.S. expansion into Mexico could become a real danger. Mexico had just attained its freedom from Spain in the 1820s and as such, did not want to fall into another malevolent trap with the U.S., leaving its citizens unsure on how to proceed without starting a war. This is in part because not all migration was unsolicited before the annexation of Texas. After Mexico declared its independence from Spain it needed more settlers to populate the areas of Mexico without many citizens living in its regions. Thus, in order to ease tensions between the countries a proposal was created that involved U.S. citizens living in Texas to become citizens of Mexico and pledge allegiance to the Mexican nation. Does the feel of dough between your fingers remind you of being in the kitchen with Grama? Does the color combination of red and purple stir familiar feelings inside you? Perhaps the spring sun on your skin gathers memories of backyard games with neighborhood friends. Most of our powerful memories associate an experience with a sense. These sense based reactions then become triggers for recall. Sensory experiences and, therefore, sensory play, are valuable in the development of our children. Engaging the senses promotes learning and retention. Touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste allow humans to explore the world. With each interaction, we take in more valuable information, even unconsciously. Experience is our teacher. Solving problems and participating in make believe comes with exploring the world through play. These activities express creativity and build confidence. Furthermore, sensory play develops and refines the senses. My mother was diagnosed with depression, anxiety disorder, diabetes and hyper blood tension. Due to my mom not being educated, she cannot read or write in Spanish or English. I was forced to learn everything in the healthcare field. I quickly became intrigued of each specialized field when I took my family to their doctors appointments. A few qualities I looked for when searching for new physicianwas affordability, patient satisfaction, and a well organized practice. Not everyone has affordable insurance, or receives the best quality of care due to poor organized facilities. My true passion towards the healthcare field arose when I started on my career in the financial department. I knew that I wanted to help a group of people and the healthcare facilities to create affordable and quality care. As the next healthadministrative leader I wantto make a difference by offering a well managed healthcare facility, providing effective quality care, and high patient satisfaction to all healthcare facilities. In my current role as a financial counselor, I am exposed to several diverse backgrounds, insurances, and medical procedures. Relationship between conflict of interest and firm innovativeness: An interest may be defined as a commitment, goal, or value held by an individual or an institution. Conflict of interests exists when two or more contra indicatory interests relate to an activity by an individual or an institution. The conflict lies in the situation, not in any behavior or lack of behavior of the individuals. That means a conflict of interest is not intrinsically a bad thing. A conflict of interest is a situation in which a corporation or person with a vested interest in a company becomes unreliable because of the clash between personal interests and professional interests. An example of a conflict of interest would be a board member voting on the induction of lower premiums for companies with fleet vehicles when he is the owner of a truck company outside of the corporation. Critical Analysis on Edwidge Danticat s A Wall of Fire Rising A Wall of Fire Rising , short story written by Edwidge Danticat, presents one man s desire for the freedom and also, the gap between reality and fantasy which is created by the desire. Two different perspectives of evaluating the life bring the conflict between the Guy and Lili who are parents to the little guy. Throughout the story, the Guy implies that he wants to do something that people will remind of him, but Lili who is opposing to the Guy, tries to settle the Guy down and keep up with the normal life that they are belong to. (Danticat 150) The guy wiped his tear after he hears it and heading outside. When the little guy asks his mother what is wrong with his father, Lili answers His heart hurts, (155) Because of the guy feels pity on himself, he considers his own life as if it is meant for nothing. He does not want to continue with his boring life but, he desires some excitement or magnificent changes to get involved in his life. To put this simply, he wants to live freely, the guy has too much burdens on his shoulders, such as he is the one who need to sacrifice his life to maintain the ordinary life of the family. It was now easier for him to imagine their son s lips around those breasts than to imagine his anywhere near them. (90) This phrase implies that the Guy does not feel Lili as a woman but more like little guy s mother. It also foreshadows that there is not much things that would hold the Guy to stay in the ordinary life. • 42. Kitak Relationship In The Kite Runner Thesis: Khaled Hosseini strongly argues the importance of family coming together despite their differences because family is all a person has in the end. Amir and his father s weak relationship in Afghanistan changes when Amir finally accomplishes something Baba can be proud about, spreading light of a possible close relationship in the future. At the beginning of the novel, Baba is talking with his friend, Rahim Khan, about his worries for Amir not standing up for himself, when he is being bullied. Khan responds to Baba saying, Children aren t coloring books. You don t get to fill them in with your favorite colors (Hosseini 21). This quote illustrates the difficult relationship Amir and his father have with each other because Baba wants to mold him into the perfect son, but Amir does not find appreciation in the same things as Baba, causing this mold to be ruined. Amir and Baba being polar opposites causes them to naturally separate from each other because Baba likes building luxury to fit his ego, but Amir values the smaller gestures people do in life. Once Amir finally does something that makes Baba proud and improves their ego, Baba starts to appreciate Amir more and tries to do more things with him. This is depicted when Hosseini writes, Baba and I were finally friends (Hosseini 85). Although Amir thinks they are close, they are not as close as they could be because Baba usually invites friends and family to join them on their outings. Also, when they are alone it is very awkward for the two of them because they do not know each other very well. The reason Amir feels like he is gaining his father s acceptance is because he is taking him places, rather than ignoring his existence completely, which is a significant step compared to their relationship before. This step in their relationship illustrates they have a chance at becoming even closer in the future. The father and son relationship truly transforms when they move to the United States and both find appreciation in the other s differences because they only have each other. When they move it is very difficult for Baba to assimilate to life in America, causing him to get very frustrated. He starts to rely more on Amir for help and as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henry Lewes says, Werther is not Goethe but part of him (1968). As hyperbolic as it sounds, being able to use and manipulate the English language properly into our writing and speaking can be very influential in advocating ideas towards a community. As a speaker, you have some influence on the extent to which others see you as having authority (Fontaine and Smith 13). To gain authority over an audience, one must write and speak with confidence and be skilled enough to use proper English: that is, following the standard rules of grammar and incorporating complex sentences and a wide range of vocabulary. In addition, the manipulation of the English language in writing and speaking, with the use of figurative language and compositional techniques, makes the writing more persuasive. Speaking properly and effectively will change the way we talk and will change the way people will listen to us. By displaying knowledge and skill towards the widely accepted language, we make our speaking and writing more impactful, gaining authority over our audience. It was through my past experience that I came to a realization that impactful speaking and writing, possible through the use of proper English, serve as an agent for grasping my audience s attention. Being elected as the former President of my high school, it was my obligation to lead nearly a thousand students. With such an honorable role, every task required to ...
