Examples Of Confucianism In The Movie Mulan
Mulan, a tale of adventure and honor, is not only an engaging film to watch, but it also contains an
amazing amount of historical accuracy concerning religions in China. The film Mulan is historically
accurate in its portrayal of Daoist ideas, the expected behavior of women according to Confucianism,
and Confucian relationships.
First of all, the movie Mulan is historically accurate in its portrayal of Daoist thoughts. One of the
main Daoist thoughts is that nature s function is better than constructs or actions taken by humans.
This is well represented when Mulan faces an army of Huns at the alps. Instead of having taking a
more human focused route by firing the cannon directly at the approaching army, she acts like a true

In this philosophy, relationships that people share with others are considered to be extremely
important. The relationship between a father and a son is a significant hierarchical relationship, and in
this kind of relationship the sons must treat their fathers with immense respect. This type of
relationship is best exemplified in the scene where Shang mourns his dead father s loss with a small
shrine with his father s helmet. It s a respectful and thoughtful way that a son would react to his parent
s death, and the importance of the father son relationship is really emphasized in this scene. Another
important relationship in Confucianism is the one shared between a ruler and his subjects. The subject
s responsibility is to follow that of the ruler, and the ruler s is to take care of his subjects. This
relationship is shown in the second scene of the film, when Shang s father and the emperor discuss the
possible ways to handle the Hun invasion. Instead of sending his troops to protect his own palace, as
suggested by Shang s father, the emperor commands him to send the troops to protect the people of
China. This action shows that the emperor regards the ruler subject relationship as important by
fulfilling his obligation to take care of his subjects. Another way the father child relationship is
accurately portrayed is the strong bond that Mulan and her father possess.

Merlin s Character In The Legend Of Geoffrey Merlin And...
Merlin is considered one of the most strongest sorcerer that lives Camelot. He is Arthur s adviser, as
well as a prophet and sorcerer. Merlin s powers were so powerful that other wizards and sorcerers
looked up to him as a leader. His role in the Arthurian legend is to protect and serve the lands of
Camelot. The Life of Merlin gave him the qualities of an humble man, who took pleasure in
loneliness. The source provided descriptive details of Merlin s actions and how they affected others in
relations to his selfishness. In the narrative, Monmouth wrote Merlin to be a man who wanted nothing
to do with anyone, except for himself. After the 1900 s, author of The Daughter of Merlin took a
different perspective and gave the character a child that shared the same qualities. Gaster gave new
meaning to Merlin s character that will be put in texts of the Arthurian Legend. In the narratives, The
Life of Merlin by Geoffrey Monmouth and The Daughter of Merlin by Madison J Cawein, Merlin s
character changes as different authors rewrite his character. He changes from a sorcerer living on his
own to a sorcerer who has a daughter with his same abilities, because over a certain time period the
authors wanted to evolve Merlin into more caring, passionate character. For example, Monmouth
provides Merlin s character with the sense of self serving attitude. The author incorporates a battle,
which Merlin s leads and succeeds with the victory of the battle. In return of the victorious battle, the

Emerson Metaphors
Everyone in this planet called Earth, has their own different ways of expressing feelings, different
learning strategies, and different talents. In this piece of writing, Emerson explains how and why
independence is what has created today s society. Emerson explains these thoughts by using
metaphors, common sense, similes and imagery. Emerson starts off by stating that everyone is very
common but also very different. For example, when Emerson says, Every heart vibrates to that iron
string (Pg. 591, Line 37), he expresses that people are very similar. A matter of fact, there is an actual
study that shows when a human being listens to music, the beat of your heart goes with the rhythm of
the music. This piece of the puzzle has one powerful image. And that is an image of imagery and
metaphor. Emerson uses these two strategies because he wants to grab his audience attention by
bringing what they love most, their heart (without their heart they wouldn t be able to love) and music.

591, Line 13). Here Emerson explains how every single person has control over their own lives. They
can achieve their goals and it could also go the other way. This is another way to put Emerson s quote,
like when someone says you learn from your mistakes, that is something major that we need to
understand. Another reason why Emerson wrote this piece like he did, was that we need to go with the
feeling of our gut. Because if a person thinks about a decision for too long, that person will miss your
chance. Another quote is, Let the subject be what it may (Pg. 591, Line 2). This goes hand in hand
with the recent quote stated above. No one has control over another person s life except the person
who is living

Exploitation Is A Problem Of Exploitation
The law was made for one thing alone, for the exploitation of those who don t understand it, or are
prevented by naked misery from obeying it. Bertolt Brecht. There are two definitions of exploitation
the first is from merriam webster dictionary an act or instance of exploiting; exploitation of natural
resources; exploitation of immigrant laborers. In google searches the action or fact of treating
someone unfairly in order to benefit from their work. both having exploitation of migrant workers. Is
exploitation a problem? Exploitation isn t a problem but more of a structural problem, not a problem
of human nature. Exploitation is a problem that can never be fixed, exploitation comes along with
inequality; which solving inequality is indeed an utopian idea. We are too constrained by an idea of
equality rather than, by the sense that this is the way things have to be. Corporations exploit prison
workers, corporations are able to get away with paying them wages that rival those of third world
sweatshops. These laborers have been legally stripped of their political, economic and social rights
and ultimately relegated to second class citizens. They are banned from unionizing, violently silenced
from speaking out and forced to work for little to no wages. Incarceration Nation not just immigrant

The Ethical Theory Of Ethics
What is the right thing to do when you re faced with corruption in the work place? Should you simply
condone the behavior, participate in it, or remove yourself from the situation? Is there more at stake
here than just your own interests and prosperity? This essay will look at a case study involving
corruption in a local county government. In this case, Jenny must decide whether or not to expose the
rampant corruption prevalent in her workplace. Should Jenny turn a blind eye thereby avoiding any
negative consequences, or should she expose these actions and possibly compromise her career
aspirations? In considering her case, I believe the best choice Jenny should make involves her
exposing the corruption. I will argue for this position through the utilitarian theory of ethics. Before I
argue for what Jenny should do, we should first look at the options available to her. Jenny could
choose to ignore the obvious theft and misuse of public funds and property. Additionally, she could
accept the nepotism displayed by the rest of her coworkers. The immediate benefit to her would be in
maintaining the status quo. Jenny would continue to work here until such time as she would be able to
move onto another government work place. But choosing this option would mean she would be
indirectly approving of the behavior we know has made her uncomfortable. Besides the guilt she
would experience, Jenny would also be subject to possible prosecution once the corruption was
discovered. For

Anxiety And Mood Disorder Analysis
Anxiety and mood disorders are psychiatric problems characterized by a feeling of apprehensiveness
about a probable future danger and alterations in mood over a long period of time respectively
(Butcher, Hooley, Mineka, 2016). Both disorders are associated with reasonable impairment, distress,
mortality, and morbidity especially in children.
One of the factors causing an alarming increase in the diagnosis of mood and anxiety disorders in the
recent past is the increased incidence of psychopathology (John Stirling, 2013). This phenomenon out
rightly underpins the disease progress since psychiatric disorders have a high level of comorbidity
(DeRubeis Strunk, 2017). Alcohol and drug abuse are often reported in conjunction with mood and

BP Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill
CASE STUDY MINI CASE: BP GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL
CASE SUMMARY
1. In a narrative format, summarize the key facts and issues of the case.
In the case of the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill, we examine the effects of an organization not being
prepared for this particular crisis. The world scrutinized the actions, inactions, and the human
decisions made by BP that led to a major catastrophic crisis. The organization was not prepared for a
crisis of this magnitude. Our text stated that this type of negligence has been coined the term sloppy
management. They were oblivious to the issues pertaining to the deep waters, the ocean wildlife and
the habitats of those marine animals. They were not knowledgeable of several things, along with their
initial conundrum of frantically searching for a way to stop the continued spilling of the oil into the
ocean. One article quoted an official saying, We knew how to respond to a surface spill, but this is
completely different. (Bond, D. 2013).
With the modern technology we have, and the easy access, also known as, information age , the media
and social media only seemed to intensify the effects of the crisis (Crandall, W, Parnell, J. Spillan, J.
2013). This broadened the awareness of certain environmental issues and caused a panic among the
populations. The elite scientists were faced with new issues due to the oil spill that they too had never
intended. After these type of major crises, it creates a learning opportunity for

Maurice Ravel Tzygane
Tzygane
Composer: Maurice Ravel (7 March 1875 28 December 1937)
Dedicated to: Hungarian Jelly d Arányi, one of the great violinists of her time
First performed in London on 26 April 1924, with d Arányi on violin and Henri Gil Marchex at the
piano. Orchestral version first performed in Amsterdam on 10 October of that year, with Samuel
Dushkin taking the solo with the Concertgebouw under the baton of Pierre Monteux.
Ravel s musical talents showed themselves at an early age. Originally from the Basque region of
southern France, his family soon moved to the capital, where he spent 15 years at the Paris
Conservatoire.
His first work written for piano came in 1893, although it was another six years before Pavane pour

Yet the star of the current work the violin is an instrument he never played or studied in his life,
making the fact he could produce such a technical virtuoso piece all the more remarkable.
It is generally agreed that the seed for Tzygane (meaning gypsy ) was sown on a trip to London during
which Ravel was treated to a private performance of traditional Hungarian folk music by the
accomplished violinist Jelly d Arányi, grand niece of the violin virtuoso Joseph Joachim and previous
dedicatee of violin sonatas by Bartók and Vaughan Williams. Little wonder, then, that the composer
dedicated the resulting work to Ms d Arányi, who took the lead when the piece premiered in London
to general acclaim.
Written in a single movement lasting around 10 minutes, this concert rhapsody for violin and piano
falls into two broad sections: a cadenza, generally interpreted as a snapshot of gypsy life, its hardships
and passions, hopes and dreams, and a post cadenza in lighter mood, reflecting the freedom and joy of
gypsy culture and dance through a loose set of

Rhetorical Analysis Why Gender Equality Stalled
Stephanie Coontz started off her article about the 50th anniversary of the publication of Betty Friedan
s international best seller, The Feminine Mystique , which was written about the women s movement
of the 1960s. What Coontz is trying to explain is that gender equality is not stalled, but It has hit a wall
. Her title is the opposite of what she is trying to write about in the article. At first she talked about
women s rights back when the book was written. Instead of blaming the beliefs of gender roles from
individuals, she points the finger at the economy and the work family policies as the major problems
to gender equality. She explains the gender equality stalled during 1990s and the first few years of the
2000s. She brought into text the usual statics, the percentage of Americans preferring the male
breadwinner/female homemaker family model actually rose to 40 percent from 34 percent. Between
1997 and 2007, the number of full time working mothers who said they would prefer to work part time
increased to 60 percent from 48 percent. In 1997, a quarter of stay at home mothers said full time
work would be ideal. By 2007, only 16 percent of stay at home mothers wanted to work full time.
(Coontz) She also talked about how 70 percent of men and women want an egalitarian relationship
and how the demand of work has intensified.
She continued about since the work has

King appealed his case, stating that the Maryland DNA Collection Act violated the Fourth
Amendment, meaning he is secure from unreasonable searches and seizures. Maryland DNA
Collection Act is legitimate and the Fourth Amendment allows the police to have the right to draw
blood, and scrape underneath fingernails, and use a breathalyzer test for the lungs.
VI. Conclusion
The Court apprehended that conducting a DNA buccal test as a part of the arrest process and it does
not violate the Fourth Amendment because the test serves from a state that does not require a warrant
for a search. The Court apprehended that determining an arrestee s character and criminal background
is an essential part of the arrest process and that a DNA test is just as lawful as fingerprinting.
Determining a suspect s criminal background serves the legitimate state interest of determining what

In this, so called, utopia of their own dreams, people temporary keep away from problems of reality.
Virtual Reality technology also does create a utopia to explore, however, in contrast to imagination the
other world is not invented in mind, but is truly there. June Deery, professor of Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute in Troy says whereas in fiction we imagine and empathize, in cyberspace we are supposed to
actually step into the other world. It seems the integration and spreading of Virtual Reality realizes
reveries and at first glance gives the impression that this is leading to a number of advantages, such as
comforts and eases. It would be a lie to deny this fact. However at the same time the rapid progress of
technology may lead to the fact that man will transform the world into a place where he/she will suffer
because of his/her own inventions.
Up to our days communication between people has already been technologically modernized and in
the future this tendency will probably continue. As Rheingold (1991) noticed: Used today in

Examples Of Beauty In Dancer From The Dance
In the novel Dancer from the Dance the author uses beauty and aesthetics in many different ways. The
author uses beauty and aesthetics in ways such as, the night life in the city, the relationships between
the characters in Dancer from the Dance, the clothing that the character s wear, and the way each
character looks. The characters in Dancer from the Dance feel like themselves when they are able to
dress, act, and go places where they won t be judged by others. The author shows the reader that
during the day the characters have to hide who they really are so that they won t be judged by society,
but at night the characters are free to do what they want and won t be judged for it because they will
be with others like themselves. The characters do the things that they do because that is who they are,
and there is beauty in those things.
The characters in Dancer from the Dance dress in normal clothing during the day so that they can fit
into society. One of the main characters in the novel is Andrew Sutherland. Andrew Sutherland dresses
as a drag queen at night when he goes out to gay bars at night. He dresses as drag queen because that
makes him feel like himself. For some gay males, clothing is a semiotic
marker for identity creation. (Schofield). Sutherland is a man that has money and a sense for fashion.

Lord Of The Flies Civilization Vs Savagery
Lord of the Flies, a novel written by William Golding revolves around a group of schoolboys stranded
on a tropical island. Golding uses the various characters as symbols to represent these different aspects
of human nature. Although there are many different conflicts throughout the book the one between
Jack and Ralph is quite interesting. Ralph, representing human s need for rules and order, and Jack,
representing violence and the need of power. The power struggle between these two characters is
basically the main theme of the novel civilization vs. savagery. When the boys first arrive on the
island, Ralph immediately realizes that the group must elect a chief in order for their life on the island
to be productive and not destructive. In the beginning of the novel Ralph says, Seems to me we ought
to have a chief to decide things. (Pg. 19) This shows that Ralph, although a small kid understands that

The Superego In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
The poor ego has a still harder time of it; it has to serve three harsh masters, and it has to do its best to
reconcile the claims and demands of all three...The three tyrants are the external world, the superego,
and the id. Sigmund Freud. The human mind is a constant battle between the devious nature of the id,
challenges from the external world, and the moralistic and logical views of the superego. In Lord of
the Flies, William Golding presents the notion that both the id and superego have special
circumstances under which they can win over the ego. Golding uses Jack to symbolize the id, Piggy
the superego, and Ralph the ego in order to convey that the id has only been suppressed by order.
Golding uses Ralph to represent the ego in that he is controlled by the id when order is not present,
while the superego controls him when it is. When Jack enacts his first dance with his hunters, Ralph
acts sensible and calls an assembly. He preaches to the group that the smoke is more important than
the pig... make smoke up there or die (81). Ralph clearly suppresses the id in one of his first speeches.
He voices logic and reason to the boys, not quick acquisition of pleasure that Jack advocates for. This
comes so easily to him because he is surrounded by the order of the camp, where the superego rules.
Yet, when he is in Jack s world of savagery and barbarism, the id possesses a notable authority. Ralph,
Jack, and a few others are reenacting a pig hunt when Ralph briefly

The Benefits Of Computer Technology In Healthcare
Over the years, computer technology and the internet has made a drastic change around the world for
healthcare industry. The healthcare industry is continuing to give positive changes for patients and
employees thanks to computer technology. It has made it easier and more productive for patients and
employees. Now patients can feel more at ease during their doctor s visit because of the benefits of
technology.
In the first place, computer technology have made it more efficient for physicians. Now physicians
can work up patients faster, thanks to the computer programs that is provided for them. In order to aid
clinical decision making, it is important that data is collected and presented to the doctor as quickly as
possible; electronic systems are therefore advantageous in performing these tasks. (Tettegah 7) The
software applications that the hospital provides help physicians put in the orders so their patients can
get faster treatment. For example, the physician can order their patient to get an x ray when they are in
leg pain. Once the x ray is ordered the technician does the x ray and the physician can look at the
results in their computer so they can properly diagnosis and give them the proper treatment. The
programs can also help keep a log of patients previous visits so they can know the proper medication
to give to patients. The number one benefit cited by the developers is the patient focused benefit of

These programs represent a low risk investment in human capital development with verified impact.
These methods are highly cost effective and have significant economies of scale and can comfortably

immunizing children against infectious diseases is equivalent to the cost of a single day of health care
in the United States of America. Also, lack of vaccination result in immense economic costs, as
responding to outbreak is highly costly affair for the health department. For instance, an outbreak in
2008 that occurred in San Diego resulted in a total cost of 176,980 dollars incurred by the health

Changing role of the school principal
The techno century s Leadership From Principals to CEO (Chief Education Officer)
Abstract
The techno century s principalship From Principals to CEO (Chief Education Officer)
The role of the principal is multi faceted. The techno century s principalship in its epitomized role is
about ensuring the relevance of aims, content, practices, and outcomes of formal education to digital
generation. In accepting this coveted role, individual and organisational capability will be imperative,
as will the development of individuals and communities to create and walk the new paradigms.
Modern school leadership also includes networking. School leaders will have to work ... Show more

These shall be leaders having a strong moral purpose and commitment to working to help all schools
improve performance. This view that, in the techno century the days of the self contained, stand alone
school will be superseded, is also argued by the eminent Australian educationalist Hedley Beare: The
best schools are part of a living ecology of learning localities and sites, and can access learning
modules from almost anywhere. The school, therefore, acts not as a sole and exclusive provider of
programs for students enrolled, and does not assume its own curriculum offerings are confined to its
own campus. Rather, it acts as a learning broker to find, contract in, and then manage what is available
on its web of contacts. The opportunities for leadership within this model are immense. The walls of
the school are removed and educators of all levels can contribute to the development of individuals,
groups, schools, and networks both national and international. The challenge for each nation is to
develop the culture and the capacity for the new style of leadership.
Now as effective leadership is recognised as a key feature of successful schools, however, is the style
of leadership needed in the techno century the same as what was required in the 20th century? We can
use examples from industry and business to help us understand leadership for the techno century. Jim
Collins has a five level hierarchy of leadership: Level V: Executive. Builds enduring

Brave New World Analysis
In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, Bernard Marx discovers the vivid emotion of nature through
his visit to the Savage Reservation, America s last remnant of unadulterated wilderness and humanity
in a bleak, dystopian world. Writing critically on society, Huxley comments on the degradation of
morals, and the rise of a superfluous and perpetually distracted, albeit technologically advanced,
world, amid the dying influence of nature. Similarly, in his 2008 book, Last Child in the Woods,
Richard Louv expresses concern over the widening divide between people and nature, in particular
children and nature. Citizens in Huxley s novel are infatuated with dazzlingly visual entertainment
machines, which provide transitory pleasure; likewise, Americans today have forgone nature for
equally trivial technological pursuits. Louv s sharp critique on the bastardization of nature for short
sighted whims, and his concern about the effects of isolating children from nature, are achieved and
expressed through exploring science s relationship to nature, several subsequent illustrative examples,
and ironic social commentary through these techniques, Louv calls for action to preserve posterity s
interest in and exposure to nature s romantic beauty.
Louv s reportage on the State University of New York s scientific achievement and inclusion of
commentary by Richtel jointly reveal society s enthusiasm about synthetic nature, and thus by
extension the perceived unimportance of true nature.

Realism versus Pop Art
In this life, there are many forms of art or art movements to speak of. How we interpret art is a very
subjective thing. What a person sees and feels when looking at art greatly depends on their
upbringing, their values, and even their mood at the time of viewing. Could something dark and
lacking color be art? What about a comic strip in the newspaper or the billboard down the street?
Again, interpretation and taste in art is individual. I elected to explore into the two art movements I
like the least to potentially better understand them, and to potentially link them together.
Realism was painted to depict real life situations. It was developed by artists to create an illustration of
common people and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Realism evoked feeling in its everyday life portrayal. Pop Art is unemotional.
Although Pop art was originally stated to come from the revolt to Abstract Expressionism, and a jump
off of Dadaism, my thoughts are that the similarities between Pop Art and Realism as extensive. They
are related in the fact that they both are based on everyday life scenes. While Realism delved into
everyday society, Pop Art did the same with the everyday mass media market. Realism was a jump
from Romanticism a fight of the unnatural belief that everything must be romanticized. Pop art was a
jump from Abstract Expressionism a fight of the unnatural belief that everything should spark
emotional thought. Pop artists in Germany are referred to as Capitalist Realism artists and, in France,
the Pop Art movement is called Nouveau Realisme, directly translated as New Realism.
The very famous Mona Lisa was great inspiration for many other art pieces, but none as famous as

famousness and celebrity that the painting created that he became obsessed with it for the rest of his
life. His creation of his own Mona Lisa pieces, as well as his Jackie series and his Marilyn series and

The Character Of Eddie Rake In John Grishams Bleachers
Eddie Rake was a man with power. He used his power to train and better the young men of Messina.
However, Eddie had love and admiration for his players. In John Grishams Bleachers, Eddie Rake is
seen as a Hero, savior, all powerful. What people do not realize is that his love is power, love can
always be power but power will never be love. Eddie Rake has done his best to use his power to
influence the entire town of Messina. He may not have known that he did, but Eddie was able to help
everyone in that small town have a taste of greatness. The Spartan football team most of all. Eddie
pushed his players to the point that, sooner or later, each one of them grew to hate him. Messina
citizens had a different view of Eddie, they loved him. Why? Because who would not love a man that
could put their small town on the map with an 89 streak win in football. Eddie had made such an
impact on Messina that when asked, they got him a new football field, even naming it after him. When

Essay On Prescription Drug Addiction
Currently, prescription drug addiction is the most serious problem among all the other drug addictions
that exists. Several researches have shown us that, addiction to any drug whether legal or ill legal, is a
brain disease which can be treated efficiently. But similar kind of treatment is not apt for all the
individuals who suffer from prescription drug addiction. Prescription drug addiction is not at all
different from addiction to some other substances or from alcoholism. However, for medical reasons,
no one is prescribed to take cocaine or alcohol. Historically, it has been observed, that the most under
reported drug abuse problem is the prescription drug addiction. Two types of commonly ill treated
drugs are benzodiazepines which are used to reduce anxiety and opioids which are used to manage
pains. Long term use of opiates may lead to addiction and physical dependence. Abandoning
benzodiazepines is generally mild. The common symptoms are nervousness, insomnia, and
restlessness which can be relieved by quitting the drug slowly. Painkillers may relieve pain for the
time being but those suffering from intense pain, may need narcotics to overcome it. Prescription drug
addiction and also the withdrawal from it may be more harmful than any other substance due to the
dangerous nature of these drugs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Eye Of The Sheep Character Analysis
The Eye of the Sheep, written by Sophie Laguna is a strong example of how memorable texts can both
disturb the reader as well as instil hope. The novel follows the story of the narrator Jimmy Flick, a
young, unusual boy and his family. Laguna s writing style and use of language throughout the text
enables the reader to feel the pain and distress in Jimmy s family without ever losing hope that things
will work out. One of the ways in which she does this is through the use of Jimmy s voice, as it allows
the reader to feel the positive energy bubbling inside of Jimmy, while still witnessing the problems
that Jimmy s family have to deal with, such as his father s drinking habits. Another way is the manner
in which the characters are constructed. All the members of Jimmy s family have multiple facets to
them. They are all complex characters that have both light and darkness within them. Through these
cleverly constructed characters, Laguna how even good people can do disturbing things. While
reading the Eye of the Sheep, there have been multiple different perspectives that have enriched my
own interpretation of this text, that again show different facets to the story. Throughout the novel,
Jimmy s voice is a constant source of insight for the reader. He has a light hearted yet astute way of
looking at things. His unique and memorable viewpoint on the situations he finds himself in can at
times horrify the reader, yet at other times can instil hope. Jimmy has a way of imprinting

Tense Present Democracy, English, And The Wars Over Usage
Summary of Tense Present Democracy, English, and the Wars over Usage Published in April of 2001
by Harper s Magazine, David Foster Wallace s essay is both a review of A Dictionary of Modern
Usage by Bryan A. Garner and an interjection into the present day Usage Wars. Wallace s thesis for his
essay is stated after a list of grammatical errors that are overlooked on a daily basis and a few
paragraphs defining SNOOT. His thesis states, Issues of tradition vs. egalitarianism in U.S. English
are at root political issues and can be effectively addressed only in what this article hereby terms a
Democratic Spirit. A Democratic Spirit is an attitude a person can have only by being fervent in
his/her beliefs while also recognizing and respecting the beliefs of another. After sorting out what
constitutes a Democratic Spirit and how to maintain such an attitude the author questions who has the
authority to write a dictionary and, thus, determine which words go into the book and which words are
left on the wayside. Wallace praises Garner for his full discloser statement, which acknowledges
Garner s principles and gives background information to his text. Next, in his essay, Wallace notes
Garner s use of Ethical Appeal. The use of ethos, Wallace says, is refreshing because it is hardly ever
used in dictionary. Most dictionaries are political battle ground in a war that is fought between the

Terrorists
The world airline industry was severely shaken by the terrorist events of 11th September 2001, and
this is directly result in a catastrophic fall in personal air travel. After that, the security level was
increased at all the airport, that result in high cost put into airline industry, due to more personnel and
further expensive security applications. More security leads to increase waiting times, makes air
transportation less attractive.
Economical
Economical can be another major factor for the airline industry. Airlines profitability is closely tied to
world economic growth and international trade. Due to the rate of war and terrorist event, the growth
rate of economy dramatic slowdown, capacity in Europe outstrips demand, which gains the low yield

Existentialism In The Stranger By Albert Camus And Tonio...
Introduction The literary characters of Meursault and Tonio Kroeger are likely depicted as outsiders in
the novels The Stranger by Albert Camus and Tonio Kroeger by Thomas Mann. The novels can both
be described as existentialist investigations. Existentialism seeks to investigate the relationship
between individuals and the society, the meaning of life, and the unavoidable conflicts in interpersonal
relationships among other inquisitions. Existentialism is evident in the two novels under review as the
characters are treated as outsiders.
Albert Camus The Stranger The two lead characters namely Meursault and Tonio Kroeger
demonstrate the concept of the outsiders. In The Stranger, Meursault is depicted as an outsider both in
himself as well as the society as owing to his criminal tendencies as he battles to show emotions and
link with realities regarding his life. Meursault is depicted as much disconnected to the current world
and life either emotionally or socially. For instance, the opening scene shows how Meursault reacts to
his mother s death. His lack of remorse and loss is both salient and borders on the pathological. By
falling asleep during his mother s funeral, the action demonstrates the lack of feelings and social
competence which children are usually expected to show to their parents. Furthermore, he consents to
marry Marie, his girlfriend just after she thinks that it would be an excellent move, and individuals
who have a passionate relationship must

Analysis Of Wonder Woman
At First the World didn t Deserve Wonder Woman
When we think about the genre that is Superheroes, there are many names that come to mind
Superman, Thor, Batman, and Ironman to name a few. That the superhero world is a boy s club, were
the focus is on them saving the world and while there are women in the genre they have not been the
focus, but recently that changed with the release of Wonder Woman. Given the recent political issues
and what many feels is an attack on the female form, Wonder Woman was a bright light for not only
for women and little girls alike, but for the superhero genre as well. Wonder Woman is the ideal of girl
power and strength. She is as strong and courageous as any man; thus, she has earned the respect of
both females and males around the world.
We were first introduced to Wonder Woman during World War II, by William Moulton Marston, a
Harvard trained psychologist and lawyer. When we start with the obvious that being that Wonder
Woman was the first major superhero film with a woman as the lead, something that many felt would
never be successful, but with $103.1 million made on opening weekend and an entire gross of $409
million , this film was wildly successful, and included with that success it was also the biggest
opening ever for a female director . Many people however would argue that Catwoman that starred
Halle Berry was the first female superhero movie, but they would be remiss to learn that Catwoman
was never considered a superhero, but in

Forgiveness In John Grisham s Bleachers
John Grisham s, Bleachers conveys the theme, forgiveness can help to heal wounds, as Coach Rake s
time starts counting down and the players must take the last chance they must have to find
forgiveness. Forgiveness although most of the time has to do with more than one person, throughout
the novel forgiveness is shown by one person forgiving themselves. No one who was in the locker
room during halftime of the 1987 game would ever forget what happened. It was a wound to
everyone. A coach punching a player, he could have been fired. But not one person chose to share
about it to anyone, until it was dug up 15 years later. Everyone there was affected by it, especially
Coach Eddie Rake and Neely Crenshaw. Neely was so amazingly infuriated about it that, after he took
his anger back out against him, he took it out on the field. And as the Messina Spartans pulled a
victory after being down by a whole lot and were thought to have no chance, Rake was on the

The Transactions Between Bell Hospitality Limited
Question 1 The transactions between Bell Hospitality Limited (BHL) and Costbite Limited (Costbite)
is undoubtedly a dealing in the course of business and a sale of goods contract, therefore, it will be
governed by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. A contract of sale is a lawful agreement to transfer the
ownership of any particular goods in exchange for an approved monetary consideration from the other
party. This transfer of ownership is also known as the passing of property. The issues highlighted by
BHL focuses on if there is any passing of property and ultimately, who bears the risk of goods that
have been part of the contract. By discussing each of the goods the 20 bottles of Hollinger finest
champagne, 12 bottles of Australian Premium white wine and the 12 bottles of South African red wine
separately, we will be able to determine if the property has passed to BHL and whether or not, Kerry
bears the risk of the loss of the three goods due to the floods. Generally, it should be noted that the
transfer of ownership does not only occur when there is a handover of psychical possession of the
goods. At times, the seller may still have possession of the goods but the ownership would have
passed on to the buyer, and on certain occasions, the buyer would have possession of the item but the
ownership may still remain with the seller. Thus, many a times uncertainties have risen due to the
seemingly challenging task of needing to prove that they have ownership over the goods but

Cyber Criminals Are Faceless And Cybercrimes
Cyber criminals are faceless and cybercrimes are now easier and safer for criminals to troll the
internet for unsuspected victims without leaving the comfort of their own home. According to a Police
Executive Research Forum report (PERF, 2014), local law enforcement are struggling with responses
to cybercrimes; Chief Charles McClelland of the Houston police department told PERF, unfortunately,
we haven t properly prepared our officers to handle cybercrime calls (p.20). Cybercrimes are not
limited to credit card frauds, scams, human trafficking, or cyber bullying, but also involves attacks on
national infrastructures to terrorism plots on a larger scale. The post 911 investigation revealed that the
internet played a key role in the attacks, from planning to coordinating to executing the cowardice
acts. As a law enforcement organization, we are facing a new breed of criminals criminals with no
faces or names and our task is to bring them to justice. There is a lack of knowledge in the cyber
world, which the police culture does not fully comprehend. In order to level the playing field, we must
improve IT knowledge through education, commit funding to promulgate cybercrimes units, and
collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to create a team of teams. The internet is largely
unregulated, therefore, those who are most familiar with it will dominate the virtual world. There is
hope, although cybercrimes are committed via the internet, there is an operator

  • 2. Examples Of Confucianism In The Movie Mulan Mulan, a tale of adventure and honor, is not only an engaging film to watch, but it also contains an amazing amount of historical accuracy concerning religions in China. The film Mulan is historically accurate in its portrayal of Daoist ideas, the expected behavior of women according to Confucianism, and Confucian relationships. First of all, the movie Mulan is historically accurate in its portrayal of Daoist thoughts. One of the main Daoist thoughts is that nature s function is better than constructs or actions taken by humans. This is well represented when Mulan faces an army of Huns at the alps. Instead of having taking a more human focused route by firing the cannon directly at the approaching army, she acts like a true Daoist and shoots ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this philosophy, relationships that people share with others are considered to be extremely important. The relationship between a father and a son is a significant hierarchical relationship, and in this kind of relationship the sons must treat their fathers with immense respect. This type of relationship is best exemplified in the scene where Shang mourns his dead father s loss with a small shrine with his father s helmet. It s a respectful and thoughtful way that a son would react to his parent s death, and the importance of the father son relationship is really emphasized in this scene. Another important relationship in Confucianism is the one shared between a ruler and his subjects. The subject s responsibility is to follow that of the ruler, and the ruler s is to take care of his subjects. This relationship is shown in the second scene of the film, when Shang s father and the emperor discuss the possible ways to handle the Hun invasion. Instead of sending his troops to protect his own palace, as suggested by Shang s father, the emperor commands him to send the troops to protect the people of China. This action shows that the emperor regards the ruler subject relationship as important by fulfilling his obligation to take care of his subjects. Another way the father child relationship is accurately portrayed is the strong bond that Mulan and her father possess. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Merlin s Character In The Legend Of Geoffrey Merlin And... Merlin is considered one of the most strongest sorcerer that lives Camelot. He is Arthur s adviser, as well as a prophet and sorcerer. Merlin s powers were so powerful that other wizards and sorcerers looked up to him as a leader. His role in the Arthurian legend is to protect and serve the lands of Camelot. The Life of Merlin gave him the qualities of an humble man, who took pleasure in loneliness. The source provided descriptive details of Merlin s actions and how they affected others in relations to his selfishness. In the narrative, Monmouth wrote Merlin to be a man who wanted nothing to do with anyone, except for himself. After the 1900 s, author of The Daughter of Merlin took a different perspective and gave the character a child that shared the same qualities. Gaster gave new meaning to Merlin s character that will be put in texts of the Arthurian Legend. In the narratives, The Life of Merlin by Geoffrey Monmouth and The Daughter of Merlin by Madison J Cawein, Merlin s character changes as different authors rewrite his character. He changes from a sorcerer living on his own to a sorcerer who has a daughter with his same abilities, because over a certain time period the authors wanted to evolve Merlin into more caring, passionate character. For example, Monmouth provides Merlin s character with the sense of self serving attitude. The author incorporates a battle, which Merlin s leads and succeeds with the victory of the battle. In return of the victorious battle, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Emerson Metaphors Everyone in this planet called Earth, has their own different ways of expressing feelings, different learning strategies, and different talents. In this piece of writing, Emerson explains how and why independence is what has created today s society. Emerson explains these thoughts by using metaphors, common sense, similes and imagery. Emerson starts off by stating that everyone is very common but also very different. For example, when Emerson says, Every heart vibrates to that iron string (Pg. 591, Line 37), he expresses that people are very similar. A matter of fact, there is an actual study that shows when a human being listens to music, the beat of your heart goes with the rhythm of the music. This piece of the puzzle has one powerful image. And that is an image of imagery and metaphor. Emerson uses these two strategies because he wants to grab his audience attention by bringing what they love most, their heart (without their heart they wouldn t be able to love) and music. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 591, Line 13). Here Emerson explains how every single person has control over their own lives. They can achieve their goals and it could also go the other way. This is another way to put Emerson s quote, like when someone says you learn from your mistakes, that is something major that we need to understand. Another reason why Emerson wrote this piece like he did, was that we need to go with the feeling of our gut. Because if a person thinks about a decision for too long, that person will miss your chance. Another quote is, Let the subject be what it may (Pg. 591, Line 2). This goes hand in hand with the recent quote stated above. No one has control over another person s life except the person who is living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Exploitation Is A Problem Of Exploitation The law was made for one thing alone, for the exploitation of those who don t understand it, or are prevented by naked misery from obeying it. Bertolt Brecht. There are two definitions of exploitation the first is from merriam webster dictionary an act or instance of exploiting; exploitation of natural resources; exploitation of immigrant laborers. In google searches the action or fact of treating someone unfairly in order to benefit from their work. both having exploitation of migrant workers. Is exploitation a problem? Exploitation isn t a problem but more of a structural problem, not a problem of human nature. Exploitation is a problem that can never be fixed, exploitation comes along with inequality; which solving inequality is indeed an utopian idea. We are too constrained by an idea of equality rather than, by the sense that this is the way things have to be. Corporations exploit prison workers, corporations are able to get away with paying them wages that rival those of third world sweatshops. These laborers have been legally stripped of their political, economic and social rights and ultimately relegated to second class citizens. They are banned from unionizing, violently silenced from speaking out and forced to work for little to no wages. • 7. The Ethical Theory Of Ethics What is the right thing to do when you re faced with corruption in the work place? Should you simply condone the behavior, participate in it, or remove yourself from the situation? Is there more at stake here than just your own interests and prosperity? This essay will look at a case study involving corruption in a local county government. In this case, Jenny must decide whether or not to expose the rampant corruption prevalent in her workplace. Should Jenny turn a blind eye thereby avoiding any negative consequences, or should she expose these actions and possibly compromise her career aspirations? In considering her case, I believe the best choice Jenny should make involves her exposing the corruption. I will argue for this position through the utilitarian theory of ethics. Before I argue for what Jenny should do, we should first look at the options available to her. Jenny could choose to ignore the obvious theft and misuse of public funds and property. Additionally, she could accept the nepotism displayed by the rest of her coworkers. The immediate benefit to her would be in maintaining the status quo. Jenny would continue to work here until such time as she would be able to move onto another government work place. But choosing this option would mean she would be indirectly approving of the behavior we know has made her uncomfortable. Besides the guilt she would experience, Jenny would also be subject to possible prosecution once the corruption was discovered. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Anxiety And Mood Disorder Analysis Anxiety and mood disorders are psychiatric problems characterized by a feeling of apprehensiveness about a probable future danger and alterations in mood over a long period of time respectively (Butcher, Hooley, Mineka, 2016). Both disorders are associated with reasonable impairment, distress, mortality, and morbidity especially in children. One of the factors causing an alarming increase in the diagnosis of mood and anxiety disorders in the recent past is the increased incidence of psychopathology (John Stirling, 2013). This phenomenon out rightly underpins the disease progress since psychiatric disorders have a high level of comorbidity (DeRubeis Strunk, 2017). • 9. BP Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill CASE STUDY MINI CASE: BP GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL CASE SUMMARY 1. In a narrative format, summarize the key facts and issues of the case. In the case of the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill, we examine the effects of an organization not being prepared for this particular crisis. The world scrutinized the actions, inactions, and the human decisions made by BP that led to a major catastrophic crisis. The organization was not prepared for a crisis of this magnitude. Our text stated that this type of negligence has been coined the term sloppy management. They were oblivious to the issues pertaining to the deep waters, the ocean wildlife and the habitats of those marine animals. They were not knowledgeable of several things, along with their initial conundrum of frantically searching for a way to stop the continued spilling of the oil into the ocean. One article quoted an official saying, We knew how to respond to a surface spill, but this is completely different. (Bond, D. 2013). With the modern technology we have, and the easy access, also known as, information age , the media and social media only seemed to intensify the effects of the crisis (Crandall, W, Parnell, J. Spillan, J. 2013). This broadened the awareness of certain environmental issues and caused a panic among the populations. The elite scientists were faced with new issues due to the oil spill that they too had never intended. After these type of major crises, it creates a learning opportunity for ... Maurice Ravel Tzygane Tzygane Composer: Maurice Ravel (7 March 1875 28 December 1937) Dedicated to: Hungarian Jelly d Arányi, one of the great violinists of her time First performed in London on 26 April 1924, with d Arányi on violin and Henri Gil Marchex at the piano. Orchestral version first performed in Amsterdam on 10 October of that year, with Samuel Dushkin taking the solo with the Concertgebouw under the baton of Pierre Monteux. Ravel s musical talents showed themselves at an early age. Originally from the Basque region of southern France, his family soon moved to the capital, where he spent 15 years at the Paris Conservatoire. Yet the star of the current work the violin is an instrument he never played or studied in his life, making the fact he could produce such a technical virtuoso piece all the more remarkable. It is generally agreed that the seed for Tzygane (meaning gypsy ) was sown on a trip to London during which Ravel was treated to a private performance of traditional Hungarian folk music by the accomplished violinist Jelly d Arányi, grand niece of the violin virtuoso Joseph Joachim and previous dedicatee of violin sonatas by Bartók and Vaughan Williams. Little wonder, then, that the composer dedicated the resulting work to Ms d Arányi, who took the lead when the piece premiered in London to general acclaim. Written in a single movement lasting around 10 minutes, this concert rhapsody for violin and piano falls into two broad sections: a cadenza, generally interpreted as a snapshot of gypsy life, its hardships and passions, hopes and dreams, and a post cadenza in lighter mood, reflecting the freedom and joy of gypsy culture and dance through a loose set of ... What Coontz is trying to explain is that gender equality is not stalled, but It has hit a wall . Her title is the opposite of what she is trying to write about in the article. At first she talked about women s rights back when the book was written. Instead of blaming the beliefs of gender roles from individuals, she points the finger at the economy and the work family policies as the major problems to gender equality. She explains the gender equality stalled during 1990s and the first few years of the 2000s. She brought into text the usual statics, the percentage of Americans preferring the male breadwinner/female homemaker family model actually rose to 40 percent from 34 percent. Between 1997 and 2007, the number of full time working mothers who said they would prefer to work part time increased to 60 percent from 48 percent. In 1997, a quarter of stay at home mothers said full time work would be ideal. By 2007, only 16 percent of stay at home mothers wanted to work full time. Sigmund Freud. The human mind is a constant battle between the devious nature of the id, challenges from the external world, and the moralistic and logical views of the superego. In Lord of the Flies, William Golding presents the notion that both the id and superego have special circumstances under which they can win over the ego. Golding uses Jack to symbolize the id, Piggy the superego, and Ralph the ego in order to convey that the id has only been suppressed by order. Golding uses Ralph to represent the ego in that he is controlled by the id when order is not present, while the superego controls him when it is. When Jack enacts his first dance with his hunters, Ralph acts sensible and calls an assembly. He preaches to the group that the smoke is more important than the pig... make smoke up there or die (81). Ralph clearly suppresses the id in one of his first speeches. He voices logic and reason to the boys, not quick acquisition of pleasure that Jack advocates for. This comes so easily to him because he is surrounded by the order of the camp, where the superego rules. The school, therefore, acts not as a sole and exclusive provider of programs for students enrolled, and does not assume its own curriculum offerings are confined to its own campus. Brave New World Analysis In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, Bernard Marx discovers the vivid emotion of nature through his visit to the Savage Reservation, America s last remnant of unadulterated wilderness and humanity in a bleak, dystopian world. Writing critically on society, Huxley comments on the degradation of morals, and the rise of a superfluous and perpetually distracted, albeit technologically advanced, world, amid the dying influence of nature. Similarly, in his 2008 book, Last Child in the Woods, Richard Louv expresses concern over the widening divide between people and nature, in particular children and nature. Citizens in Huxley s novel are infatuated with dazzlingly visual entertainment machines, which provide transitory pleasure; likewise, Americans today have forgone nature for equally trivial technological pursuits. Louv s sharp critique on the bastardization of nature for short sighted whims, and his concern about the effects of isolating children from nature, are achieved and expressed through exploring science s relationship to nature, several subsequent illustrative examples, and ironic social commentary through these techniques, Louv calls for action to preserve posterity s interest in and exposure to nature s romantic beauty. His thesis states, Issues of tradition vs. egalitarianism in U.S. English are at root political issues and can be effectively addressed only in what this article hereby terms a Democratic Spirit. A Democratic Spirit is an attitude a person can have only by being fervent in his/her beliefs while also recognizing and respecting the beliefs of another. After sorting out what constitutes a Democratic Spirit and how to maintain such an attitude the author questions who has the authority to write a dictionary and, thus, determine which words go into the book and which words are left on the wayside. Wallace praises Garner for his full discloser statement, which acknowledges Garner s principles and gives background information to his text. Next, in his essay, Wallace notes Garner s use of Ethical Appeal. The use of ethos, Wallace says, is refreshing because it is hardly ever used in dictionary. Most dictionaries are political battle ground in a war that is fought between the Prescriptivists (linguistic conservatives) and the Descriptivists (linguistic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Existentialism In The Stranger By Albert Camus And Tonio... Introduction The literary characters of Meursault and Tonio Kroeger are likely depicted as outsiders in the novels The Stranger by Albert Camus and Tonio Kroeger by Thomas Mann. The novels can both be described as existentialist investigations. Existentialism seeks to investigate the relationship between individuals and the society, the meaning of life, and the unavoidable conflicts in interpersonal relationships among other inquisitions. Existentialism is evident in the two novels under review as the characters are treated as outsiders. Albert Camus The Stranger The two lead characters namely Meursault and Tonio Kroeger demonstrate the concept of the outsiders. In The Stranger, Meursault is depicted as an outsider both in himself as well as the society as owing to his criminal tendencies as he battles to show emotions and link with realities regarding his life. Meursault is depicted as much disconnected to the current world and life either emotionally or socially. For instance, the opening scene shows how Meursault reacts to his mother s death. His lack of remorse and loss is both salient and borders on the pathological. By falling asleep during his mother s funeral, the action demonstrates the lack of feelings and social competence which children are usually expected to show to their parents. Furthermore, he consents to marry Marie, his girlfriend just after she thinks that it would be an excellent move, and individuals who have a passionate relationship must ... • 38. The Transactions Between Bell Hospitality Limited Question 1 The transactions between Bell Hospitality Limited (BHL) and Costbite Limited (Costbite) is undoubtedly a dealing in the course of business and a sale of goods contract, therefore, it will be governed by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. A contract of sale is a lawful agreement to transfer the ownership of any particular goods in exchange for an approved monetary consideration from the other party. This transfer of ownership is also known as the passing of property. The issues highlighted by BHL focuses on if there is any passing of property and ultimately, who bears the risk of goods that have been part of the contract. By discussing each of the goods the 20 bottles of Hollinger finest champagne, 12 bottles of Australian Premium white wine and the 12 bottles of South African red wine separately, we will be able to determine if the property has passed to BHL and whether or not, Kerry bears the risk of the loss of the three goods due to the floods. Generally, it should be noted that the transfer of ownership does not only occur when there is a handover of psychical possession of the goods. At times, the seller may still have possession of the goods but the ownership would have passed on to the buyer, and on certain occasions, the buyer would have possession of the item but the ownership may still remain with the seller. Thus, many a times uncertainties have risen due to the seemingly challenging task of needing to prove that they have ownership over the goods but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
