Descriptive Essay About Hotel
Today i went to the coolest hotel ever! I couldn t believe what i was seeing, it was amazing!
Everything was made out of glass, but that s not all. Every room had some sort of waterfall, river,
creek, or body of water in it. When I got off the plane all I wanted to do was go inside. The outside
was gorgeous, it was all glass and surrounding the hotel was the pacific ocean .When you walk in you
see that the floor is made of glass, the walls are made of glass, the ceiling is made of glass, even the
tables and chairs are made of glass. Right beside the front desk is a big waterfall with beautiful blue
water pouring out of it, at the end of the waterfall there is a place where you can sit down. The
concierge leads you up to your room and you have to walk up these beautiful glass stairs. In my room
there was a soft blue rug covering the whole floor but still being able to see the floor was glass
underneath. There was a king size bed and on the opposite wall there was a fireplace with a tv on the
mantle. I turned and noticed there were two other doors in my room, so I walked into the first door
and everything was black.. I turned on the light and there was a huge waterfall with a swimming pool
at the end of it. It looked like the one downstairs but it was a little bit smaller than that one. I decided i
would go into the other room and it was the bathroom. The floor also had a blue rug but everything in
the bathroom was glass and i mean everything. The toilet was glass, the

Golden Age China Research Paper
Golden Age China had a greater cultural influence than did 21st century China, whereas 21st century
China has had a greater economic influence. There were many cultural benefits from the Golden Era,
including religion, fine arts, and innovations. As a result of the peace and stability which formed
during the Tang dynasty, Buddhism was introduced and became a dominant religion among the
Chinese. Alongside the new religion, Taoism was also a major religion in China. Through the bonding
of these two religions, several other religions emerged, such as the Pure Land Sect, Tian tai sect, and
also Chan Buddhism. These new branches of the religions were called sects.
Along with religion, the fine arts were also a major part of Chinese life from the Golden Era. Due to
the influences of the Silk Road and prosperity of the Tang dynasty, China experienced a time in which
the fine arts were further developed. Sculptures, paintings, and the most prevalent of Golden Age
China, poetry, were created. Famous poets, such as Tu Fu and Li Bo, both of whom are still sometimes
believed today to be the greatest of Chinese poets in history, created some of the most famous pieces
of literature during the Tang dynasty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is done for a variety of reasons, such as for showing respect, apologizing, thanking others, and
gatherings. At the end of the practice, a traditional action is to fold the napkin as a way of warding off
the evil energy found in tea called the Qi.
Another major influence that Golden Age China had was its innovations. During this time, new
techniques, a new form of currency, and tools were created. For example, block printing was invented
as a way of speeding up the printing process. Also, the use of paper money was introduced so that
coins would not have to be carried everywhere. The

How Is Lennie Justified In Of Mice And Men
I m going for my shotgun. I ll kill the son of a bitch myself. (Steinbeck 96). In the book, Of Mice and
Men, Curley shows that he is a very truculent person. He wants to diminish Lennie, Lennie doesn t
realize there is a complication because he can not develop things in his mind as easily as the other
men. At the end of the story, Lennie makes a very bad mistake and in response he gets killed because
he becomes a danger to other men. Mercy killing in Lennie s situation was the better decision because

CO2 is released as a waste product. The 2 carbon acetyl group binds to coenzyme A. At this point, the
process starts to move into the mitochondria and the Krebs Cycle is initiated. There is a net gain of 2
ATP and 2 molecules of NADH produced.
During Krebs Cycle, the acetyl CoA breaks down further into two molecules of carbon dioxide during
each turn of the cycle. In the process, the molecules FAD and NAD are reduced to FADH2 and
NADH. 2 ATP is generated during the Krebs Cycle.
The reduced FADH2 and NADH enter the Electron Transport System where they are re oxidized to
FAD and NAD. These electrons release energy which forms 32 ATP molecules.
During aerobic respiration, there is a total net gain of 36 ATP.

Ict Uses And Applications Of Ict
ICT USES AND APPLICATIONS 1. How a student and individual can maintain effective
communication with his tutor during studies using ICT.
To enhance academic performance a regular meeting between the tutor and his student is important, as
it helps the teacher to know the student s area of weakness and tackle it accordingly. To ensure that
there is a constant meeting between the teacher and his students, ICT as a tool of communication is
sometimes used to complement or supplement physical meeting as in the case on online learning As
mobile communication technologies enable seamless interaction between people and integrate the
global network (Arminen, 2007). Evidently, there are various kinds of technological communication
tools available, however the ones highlighted here under are the most learning friendly
communication tools i.e. the ones that supports education mostly. These are termed ICT Education
tools enablers and they are:
E mail Messaging: this is an asynchronous system of messaging, unlike the text message email
message allows for a complete details of a subject matter. A student can reach his teacher at any time
by using the email messaging. Consequently, emails help in reducing the cost of transportation by a
student to a meeting with his teacher. A teacher can send a detailed, photographic summary of his
lecture to a student for studies, while allowing room for the student to get back to him if he has any
question through the same means. It would be very

Epidemiology, Assessment, and Presentation of an Elderly...
As technology advances and medical aid becomes readily available it is no wonder that the elderly
within our communities are living longer. Unfortunately this poses a serious issue for health
professionals as elderly are becoming more prevalently injured, presenting with complications of
higher severity than their younger counterparts (Ng et al., 2002). This essay will discuss the
epidemiology, assessment and presentation of an elderly patient suffering from a traumatic injury. It
will also examine the considerations specific to the elderly in terms of management, and ethical and
cultural differences. As we grow older our susceptibility to a traumatic incident increases dramatically
(Chan, Moran, Clarke, Martin, Solomon, 2009). Elderly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also their ability to compensate is short lived, with each year increase in age from 65 years resulting
is a 6% increase in likelihood of death from injury (O Neill, Brady, Kerssens, Parks, 2012). When it
comes to the elderly patient there are three particular challenges that all health professionals should
take into consideration; co morbidities, polypharmacy and blunted compensatory mechanisms
(PHTLS, 2011). Co morbidities are important to consider as an existing medical condition may alter
the vital signs you measure. Polypharmacy is particularly important especially if the medications the
patient is on could render them unable to compensate appropriately or if you need to administer other
medication/fluids. Lastly and possibly most important in trauma is blunted compensatory mechanisms.
The elderly are unable to compensate in the way adults are able to which makes them vulnerable when
injured (PHTLS, 2011). They do not react the way in which you would expect, meaning you should
take extra care when dealing the elderly as their condition can be extremely unpredictable. Any trauma
incident begins with an assessment of the scene and determination of the degree of severity of the
situation at hand. In RTC this is of great importance as the higher the speed the vehicles were
travelling at, the worse condition the patient could be in. Upon greeting the patient it is important to
put them at ease and explain your assessment as you go. It is common

Symptoms Chemical Imbalance Of Serotonin And...
17.5 million Americans are diagnosed with clinical depression every year. It s not just the blues or
some made up disease that many people can just get rid of. It affects your moods, thoughts, body, and
behavior. Researchers believe depression is caused by the two naturally occurring chemical imbalance
of serotonin and norepinephrine. These chemicals are located in the brain and body. Serotonin and
norepinephrine are thought to be associated with mood. There are four types of depression. Those are
mild depression, major depression, situational depression, and seasonal affective depression also
known as the winter blues. It is thought that by the year 2020 depression will be the second largest
killer after heart disease, and studies show that it is a contributing factor to coronary disease. People
who have depression experience some of these signs: sadness all day and feeling that way every day;
Loss of interests or enjoyment in your favorite activities; Feeling emptiness or hopelessness; Fatigue;
Sleeping to much; Change in appetite. Many doctors today are prescribing thousands of prescriptions
in the battle to fight depression. I believe they need to look at other alternatives to fighting depression
first before they so easily reach for that pen and prescription pad. Some of the drugs used to treat
depression are Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, and Cymbalta. Many of these drugs have serious side effects and
have been linked to suicide, violence, psychosis, abnormal

Hitler s Second World War II
September 1, 1939: Silence in Europe is brought to an abrupt end! German forces storm the Polish
borders, and break the Non Aggression Pact laid forth over five years before (EyeWitness). The Fuhrer
spoke of the Poles breaking down the peace talks, and of the atrocities committed upon the Germanic
people by them (Hitler, Adolf), but these highly exaggerated claims veiled Hitler s true intentions:
Though Hitler s primary goal was the conquering of Europe, hindsight shows that the removal of
groups of people he disliked or thought of as lesser were included in his plans from the start. Two days
later, on September 3rd, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany: This was it, the Second
World War had begun (EyeWitness).

It has been my observation that the Germanic peoples have always had an affinity for battle and glory.
Hitler plays into this with his constant use of propaganda, inspiring the German people to fight for
honor, bravery, glory and all such related terms. Finally he concludes his short speech with a bout of
Nationalism: Long live our people and our Reich! (Hitler, Adolf)
My next source is the Diary from the Years of Occupation 1939 1944, by Dr. Zygmunt Klukowski a
Polish chief physician of a small hospital south of Lublin, Poland. His first entry is on October 11,
after the Germans have settled in: he starts by stating the Germans are trying to clean up the city, but
then details that they re using the Jews as laborers for it. Jews must sweep the streets, clean all the
public latrines, and fill all the street trenches. (Klukowski) He continues on to say that they must de
arm and finally adds that there is a police curfew in effect. Finally he surmises that it seems most of
the orders are aimed at the Jews. (Klukowski) Another entry states that the Germans have been
executing mentally ill patients from the nearby hospitals. It is so hard to believe anything as terrible as
this. (Klukowski) October 21, 1942, he witnesses the beginning of the so called German displacement
of the Jews (Klukowski) Here Klukowski speaks of the indescribable atrocities he witnesses and
hears. The Jews were all either rounded up and brought to

Vikings Research Paper
The Vikings were an ancient people that inhabited Northern Europe and Scandinavia known as the
Norse (also known as Northmen or Norsemen). The Norse people were spread across Northern
Europe, particularly in the regions known today as: Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, and Finland),
Germany, Denmark, Poland, Netherlands, the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Ireland, and the
surrounding islands), Iceland, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

We ll clear up these misconceptions as we go along further in the book and look closely at what the
Norse really did and what they were really like. We ll look at the facts of what was real about the
Norse people and their culture. We ll also look specifically at the Norse that infamously raided during
the Viking Era, giving them the label as Vikings.
The history of the Norse people goes all the way back to the Stone Age, but they are best known for a
period of time when they raided several parts of Europe known as the Viking Age.
The Viking Age is typically recorded in history as occurring approximately around 793 AD to 1066
AD. This period of time is not the time span of the Norse people themselves, nor was it the peak of
their civilization. This is merely the height of the time when the Norse people were mostly written
about. The time when they reached out and went out on viking adventures. A time when the World

The Ratio Of Coke s Current Ratio
Current Ratio
The first of the liquidity ratios is the current ratio. The current ratio is the number of times that current
assets exceed current liabilities. It is calculated by dividing the company s current assets by their
current liabilities. In most circumstances, the higher the current ratio, the better. The ratio is an
excellent indication of the company s ability to pay its short term debts. A decline in the current ratio
could imply that the company is having trouble generate cash, it could also be a result of increases of
short term debt, and/or a decrease in current assets. An improvement in the current ratio implies that
the company has an increased ability to pay off current liabilities. As current ratio declines, the overall
risk increases, and as it improves, the risk declines. From 2013 to 2014, Coke s current ratio dropped
from 1.13 to 1.02 before rising to 1.24 in the most recent year of 2015. However, compared to Pepsi s
ratio of 1.31, Coke s current ratio is lower. To increase their ratio to be more competitive with their
benchmark, Coke could use long term borrowing to pay off some of their current liabilities.
Quick Ratio
Next for the liquidity ratios is the quick ratio. The quick ratio, also called the acid test ratio, is a more
accurate test of liquidity than the current ratio because inventory is excluded from current assets.
Liquid assets are assets that can easily be converted into cash or cash equivalents. Inventories are
considered to be the

Biography Of Martin Luther King Jr.
Inspiration Of The Decade Throughout history, African Americans faced daily inequalities through all
aspects including, income inequality, educational segregation and civil right challenges. The daily
struggles only continued to get worse, as whites realized they were in charge, and that African
Americans were not fighting back. In order, to set things right, they decided to do otherwise; it was
through the works of Martin Luther King Jr., that made history and shaped parts of the African
American community. Not giving in to the oppression and constant threats change soon took place.
King influenced many to take that step and fight for their rights, for at the end of the day they were all
human. Made up of the same components and by the same God. King shared his dreams and goals for
the African American community through the works of non violence, till this day his tactics of
peaceful marches, petitions and walks; have all left their everlasting effect that till this day is still in
effect.
Martin Luther King Jr., was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, GA, King was an American Baptist
minister, activist, humanitarian and leader in the African American Civil Rights Movements. Well
known for his role in the advancement of civil rights for African Americans, using nonviolent civil
disobedience based on Christian beliefs King went a long way. His goal for America was to raise
public consciousness of racism, and put an end to racial discrimination and segregation. King

Obergefell Vs Hodges
As a general rule, constitutional law examination differs depending on the nature of the right that is
being asserted in a case. In the Constitution people have various rights such as freedom of speech,
freedom of religion, etc. Other rights in the Constitution are not presented in the Constitution, but they
are arguably stated within its context. In this paper I will agree that the Supreme Court case Obergefell
v. Hodges was right in affirming the equal rights of same sex couples based on the due process clause
of the fourteenth amendment. The Court s ruling in this case has an effect on the legal rights of
children of same sex couples, the rights of people who identify as gay, and the states sovereign right to
enact legislation that defines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hodges concluded that the right to marry is a fundamental right inherent in the liberty of a person
protected by the Constitution. The Court has long afforded the right to marry constitutional protection.
But the standard test for identifying a fundamental right under the Due Process Clause is that the right
must be deeply rooted in this Nation s history and tradition (Washington Post) . However, the majority
opinion went further to find that the liberties implied within the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process
Clause have stretched to certain personal choices central to a person s dignity and autonomy, including
their intimate choices that define personal identity and beliefs (Washington Post) . Using this idea, the
majority opinion concluded that the liberty interest to marry extends to same sex couples. The ruling
has helped gay rights advocates fight more than a hundred and fifteen pieces of legislation that were
introduced in state legislatures that were targeting gay people. The majority opinion agreed that the
Constitution contemplates that democracy is the appropriate process for change. In addition to
clearing the way for same sex marriage nationwide, Friday s decision may help end discrimination
against gays and lesbians in other matters, such as adoption and custody rights, legal experts say
(LATimes) . Gay couples can now have no problem matters when wanting to start a family because of
the great decision made by the Supreme Court. Justice Kennedy s majority opinion in the United
States v. Windsor, which struck down a federal law denying benefits to married same sex couples, and
exactly twelve years after his majority opinion in Lawrence v. Texas, which struck down laws making
gay sex a crime. In all his decisions Justice Kennedy embraced a vision of a living Constitution, one
that evolves with societal changes (NYTimes) . Kennedy makes a great point that the generations

Cranberry and Berries Essay
National Cranberry Cooperative Case

To begin with, this assignment is done with Kim Seo Yeon (20100472, Sociology). National
Cranberry Cooperative Case is the study done by the Harvard Business School about a process of
warehousing from the delivery and arriving of cranberry to a manufacturing in the warehouse.
National Cranberry Cooperative was an organization formed and owned by growers of cranberries to
process and markets their berries. The handling of process fruit RP1 was highly mechanized. The
process could be classified into several operations; receiving and testing, dumping, temporary holding,
destroying, dechaffing, drying separation and bulking and bagging. The objective of the total ... Show

In addition, wet bin capacity is 3,200 barrels so, according to hourly inventory increasing rate, after
passing 5.25 hours, trucks should wait to unload berries. Moreover, overworks should be done for 22.2
hours because workers should dry 13,300 barrels of the berries, but the drying capacity is only 600
barrel per hour besides the arrival rate is 1,210 barrels per hour.
To solve this problem, I would recommend to add dryers ($25,000 per each and capacity increases 200
barrels per each) or wet bins ($5,000 per each and capacity increases 250 barrels per each) for short
term. We can suggest three options to solve this matter. First, we can add no dryers but convert 15
bins. Second, we can add a dryer and convert 6 bins too. Third, we can add 2 dryers, not to convert
any bins. As first option, we need only additional cost of $75,000, which is calculated by $5,000 x 15
bins. By practicing first option, the wet bin storage increases to 6,950, so we can cover all the arrivals
of the berries this is done for not to make trucks to wait. In the second option, when we add a dryer,
we can handle 800 barrels per hour in drying process and we can reduce the overworking time from
22.2 hour to 16.6 hour. (13,300 barrel / 800 barrel equals to 16.6 hours per a day) We can estimate
overtime saved cost and it is closely related to labor cost. Labor cost

Big Business And Government In The 1920s Essay
America was against involving themselves in the war because they weren t impacted by any of the
agreements that caused the European powers to go to war in the first place. They thought war would
sow death, misery, and reaction throughout the nation but also threatened the firm hand of repression
against disloyalty anticipating battles at home as well as abroad. Basically, war would bring on too
many problems internally if they were to get into external battles. They also supported neutrality in the
war and thought that the United States had no real reason to get involved in the war. President Wilson

The New Pig
In movies you hear some things about guinea pigs. You may hear that they are mostly used as test

But they are classified as a rodent. I do think that guinea pigs are cute. They squeak , they chirp, and
when they walk, it is more of a waddle. But neither my mother nor father want me to get a guinea pig.
They think that I will not take care of it. They think that I will let it starve. They think that I will let it
go thirsty because I will forget to give it water. But I think that I will be responsible enough. I took

Abstract This research paper reviews journal articles in the domain of using Python for Computational
Biology and Bioinformatics and demonstrates a Python project to mine any DNA sequence and
display the results.
Keywords Computational Biology; Bioinformatics; Python; Biopython; Matplotlib; DNA Mining
I. INTRODUCTION
Biologists and life science researchers have been increasingly facing the challenge of dealing with
large amounts of biological data. For example, sequencing the human genome requires the computing
power of processing highly complex algorithms that can only be achieved in computers.
Computational biology and bioinformatics have a lot of things in common yet some parts not in
common. Computational biology concerns about developing data analytical modeling and
computational simulation to study biological systems. On the other hand, bioinformatics involves how
to extract, store, organize, analyze and visualize life sciences data.
Python is a simple, concise, compact yet powerful programming language compared to other high
level programming languages such as Java. Python has become more and more popular in the science

not involve Romeo in a plan to have Juliet appear dead,so she could get away from her parents, and
get out of marrying Paris. First off, Friar Lawrence sent Friar John, but he did not get the message to
Romeo, that he needed to go to the Capulet s tomb and get Juliet away when she wakes up. Because
Romeo did not know about the poison, when Balthasar tells Romeo she was dead, he went to ... Show

To be specific, Friar Lawrence told Romeo when he and Juliet wanted Friar Lawrence to marry them,
I stand on sudden haste. Wisely and slow, they stumble that run fast. Here he is saying to take things
slow, don t rush things. Later on when Friar Lawrence and Juliet were trying to make a plan on how to
avoid Juliet having to marry Paris the next day, and instead of making a well thought out plan, he
quickly made one, and it failed. This shows that he is a hypocrite for not taking it slow, even though
that s the advice he gave Romeo earlier. As a matter of fact, he then married Romeo and Juliet, trying
to end the feud between their families, but later on he knew he would be punished if the families knew
he married them. Also when people were coming towards the tomb, he wanted Juliet to run and stay
with the nuns so no one would know what he did. Friar Lawrence also rushed the part of the plan
involving Romeo, that part failed, and that is where is all went wrong. Friar Lawrence is a hypocrite
for not following his own advice he gave, and not sticking with his plan all along, stop the feud the

Coming Of Age In Persepolis
Marjane Satrapi claims that her story is about the coming of age, not for either gender, but for all
humans. However, after reading the book, one might argue that it truly is a woman coming of age
story and not for all humans. One might even go as far to say that she is a little defensive in this
interview, further hinting that feminism is a very important value for Marjane. It is human nature to do
what is best for oneself. It is human nature to protect the rights of one s own kind. It is Marjane s
human nature to tell her story with hopes of achieving equal rights for all women. In Persepolis,
Marjane Satrapi s true purpose for telling her story is not to show the coming of age for all Iranian s;

Throughout her story, Marjane mentions many instances where women are objectified, sometimes in
an extremely vulgar way. One of these instances takes place when her mother, Marji, is on the side of
the road after her car breaks down and two fundamentalist men approach her; They insulted me. They
said that women like me should be pushed up against a wall and fucked and then thrown in the
garbage (74). All because Marji was not wearing a veil. One might also say that these men are
particularly vulgar, and give off a very disgusting vibe, but nonetheless it is a loss for females
everywhere. According to these terrible men, all they are good for is sex. Then they are useless. A little
less grotesque instance of objectification is when the Satrapis maid talks about her son experiencing
martyrdom propaganda at his school, where his teachers ... told him that in paradise there will be
plenty of food, women, and houses made of gold and diamonds (100). It is awful that women are even
in the same category as food and houses, but it shows how they are objectified even in the education

It build a relationships with the clients and their family. On the other hand oral language might

important in health and social care environment because it is a busy place where you have to work in a

nonverbal communication. The environment around should also not be too loud because this

Earth is the Planet of the Plants
Earth is the planet of the plants David Biello
According to the Biology Online dictionary, photosynthesis is the synthesis of complex organic
material using carbon dioxide, water, inorganic salts, and light energy from sunlight, captured by light
absorbing pigments, such as chlorophyll. This in other words, is the process through which plants use
carbon dioxide and water to grow, produce their food, and release ex cess of oxygen into the air.
Plants versus Photovoltaics: Which Are Better to Capture Solar Energy? is an article written by David
Biello, and published in May 12, 2011. With this article, Biello s purpose was to determine that the
relative efficiency of photosynthesis and photovoltaics is not a simple problem. Biello s main purpose
with this article is to open up a question to the reader of whether plants are better at capturing solar
energy than photovoltaics or vise versa, and how each process contributes to nature. In this essay, 3
main points will be discussed how each model convert energy, what can each model bring to nature,
and how can photosynthesis be improved and still conserve real nature animals, like insects (no
enhanced bugs or plants).
David Biello discusses the difference between plants and photovoltaics, and how each model uses and
gives energy. The question opens the discussion of which model is better at cap turing solar energy.
Photovoltaic cells turn the solar energy into flowing electrons, meanwhile, plant cells turn it into plant

The Importance of Preventative Medicine
Every decision a person makes in this life has an effect on their health. It may be going for a jog or
choosing fast food for lunch; participating in a triathlon or buying a package of cigarettes. Many
decisions people make are without any knowledge or regard of the health impact, such as driving a
car, using a cellphone, or jumping in Mirror Lake. This all begs the question, are we as a society
emphasizing inaugural speech as much we should? Most of today s health issues are products of a
person s free will and their knowledge of their health. However, such decisions that negatively impact
one s health can be prevented by proper measures and education.

Partaking in public health and medicine related experiences has been a vital part of my high school
and collegiate career. During the summer of 2007, I was a Junior Ambassador at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation. Being a Junior Ambassador included many responsibilities, such as patient transport,
patient assistance, database research, and other various duties. At a young age, such an experience
provided me with a foundational understanding of the humanized aspect of medicine. It demonstrated
to me the value of a physician in the community on a firsthand basis. I further continued my
experience at the Cleveland Clinic in the spring of 2009, where I had the opportunity to shadow Dr.
Wael Barsoum for 3 weeks. Dr. Barsoum is a nationally recognized orthopedic surgeon who has
worked in the Cleveland Clinic for over 8 years and is an alumnus of The Ohio State University
School of Medicine. During our time together, Dr. Barsoum was able to show many types of
orthopedic surgery, patient treatments, and his daily routine. To say the experience was enriching and
enlightening would be an understatement; it has broadened my horizons and opened my eyes to
wonders of medicine. I truly appreciated his work and his skills as a surgeon. My journey with the

The Pros And Cons Of Volunteerism
5. Conclusion
With this thesis I wanted to create a broader view on the systems behind all the critiques on
volunteerism projects in order to contribute to projects that are both beneficial for volunteers as well
as for host communities. The theoretical aim of this thesis was to contribute to the scientific debate on
how volunteerism projects impact volunteers and host communities, through showing how this impact
is influenced by processes of liminality and Othering. On top of that, I wanted to question the notion
of giving aid as the starting point of volunteerism projects. The story represented two groups;
volunteers and host communities, who joined volunteerism projects with good intentions. Some,
however, unaware of the unintended consequences and how their expectations would work out.
5.1 The unintended consequences of the desire to help
It all started with one group of volunteers who had a specific interest in improving the waste
management in Bandung and another group of volunteers that wanted to teach English to children in
the same region. They both found volunteering project from AIESEC that focussed on these interests
and made their way to Indonesia. But, despite the focus of these projects on waste management and
teaching English on paper, the projects turn out to be focussed on something as well in reality; the ...

Analysis Of The Last Supper
The Last Supper by leonardo da vinci, This is a significant piece of italian high renaissance artwork
(This artwork is known as the first high renaissance aesthetics) and is still known as one of the best
works of christian art. This scene by leonardo depicts the last days of jesus christ on earth. In the
gospel of John 13:21 it states Verily I say unto you: one of you will betray me . Though this artwork
may look like a strong biblical depiction on first take. It is a much more complex piece of artwork. To
analyze this painting we will first take a look at the apostles themselves. Starting from the left and
working to the right. There are four easily recognisable groups of three. The first group Bartholomew,
James and Andrew, Their reactions to the news shocked. The group to the right of Andrew is Judas
iscariot who is taken back at this, beside him is peter who is clenching a knife and looks blustery. The
youngest of the apostles John is overcome by the news and faint. The third group is Thomas is simply
upset, Followed by james who is very shocked almost as if he has been slapped. Philips is looking
around and wanting an explanations as to why. For the final group Jude along with Mathew look
towards simon asking for some type answers. This paintings is even unique just for the placement of
one apostles in particular this being judas. In many past portrayals of this scene Judas is the only one

Debt, Investment And Spending Analysis
Debt, Investment and Spending Analysis
With Tony s GIC coming due next month with an approximate worth of $163,000, now would be a
good time to conceder how best to spend this money.
Looking at your current net worth, I can see a major portion of your liabilities comes from your
mortgage. Come October, this mortgage will have decreased to $137,000. Should you refinance your
mortgage at the current rate of 5.5% for an additional 25 years, you d be paying an $115,811 in
interest. To compare, if you took this $137,000 and put it into a GIC, you d receive $89,105 which is
$26,706 less.
For this reason, I believe you should spend $137,000 of the GIC to pay of the house completely. This
will leave you with an extra $2,500 a month when compared to your current cash flow.
Similarly, your credit card debt can also be taken care of with the funds from the GIC. As the interest
on credit card debt is 30%, it s a good idea to get this paid off as quickly as possible. Credit card debt
can easily grow and get out of hand. The interest you would have to pay would be $1,365 more than
you would earn if you d put that same amount into a savings account for one year.
As CESGs also have a high interest rate of 20%, so it would be advantageous to put a full $10,000
into your children s RESP. This would give you the maximum available CESGs for the year, giving
you a return of $2,000. That s $1,550 more than you would earn if you d put that same amount into a
savings account for one year.

Research Testing the Shot Distance of the Crossbow, the...
I am researching this because I am interested in medieval and roman weaponry and how it works so it
was a simple choice to make and test different weapons from those eras. I am finding out which shoots
the furthest the crossbow, the catapult, or the slingshot and if I do not know how they work, I cannot
compare them to each other so I decided to research this.
My hypothesis is that the catapult will shoot the furthest and I think that I am right do to previous
research by professionals. But in other cases the catapult is made to full size but in this case it is made
to a scale factor of 25% of its original size so that might affect the result because in the larger version
there is more force on the launcher and in the crossbow there isn t as much tension build up.

Summary Of Pollastek E. Al s Study
Summary: The central focus of Pollastek et al s (2012) study was to determine why elderly drivers are
more likely to be involved in vehicular accidents at intersections than younger experienced drivers. As
a means of data collection Pollastek et al (2012) tested the scanning ability of elderly drivers at
intersections through a series of different scenarios. Each scenario took place in a simulated
environment, testing the scanning ability of elderly drivers where they were instructed to go through
1) a four way intersection, 2) turn right at a T intersection and 3) proceed through an intersection.
Pollastek et al (2012) found that elderly drivers fail to properly scan for potential hazards while
proceeding through intersections. Pollastek et al (2012) also found that by providing video feedback
the participants in the training group performed similarly to younger experienced drivers.
Reactions:
The strengths of Pollastek et al s (2012) study lie in the methods used for data collection. By utilizing
a driving simulator to imitate potentially hazardous driving conditions, Pollastek et al (2012) ensured
that the experiment was safely conducted. The driving simulator also allowed Pollastek et al (2012) to

Media Bias In Society
Media bias can be seen today on every type of media coverage that exists. Media bias is how the
person reporting the information perceives it, whether through their language when they speak about
the subject or their choice of words used in the article they wrote. A trending and important topic,
subject to such media bias is genetically modified organisms. These GMOs have modified DNA
which leads to better traits. For example, some modifications are to be able to withstand lower or
higher temperatures to growing bigger and at a faster rate. The perception of GMOs in society is
heavily split into two factions. One side is supporters of GMOs as they see it as a necessity in today s
society of billions of people. The other side is the people against GMOs who believe GMOs are not
actually beneficial to the society and may cause negative effects in overall human health. GMOs is
profoundly shown biasedly through people in all types of media coverage, like magazines,
newspapers, radio segments, the internet, or televised news segments since the people reporting use
multiple fallacies.
Media bias pertaining to GMOs can be seen in magazine articles. An article by Time magazine called
FOOD: GMOs Are Our Destiny is biased towards GMOs (Jahren, 2016). The article uses the appeal to
emotion, the attempt of persuasion through the use of emotion and feelings. For example, the author

made inaccessible and preserved than burial of the sort to which Pompeii fell a victim and from which
it could emerge once more through the work of spades Freud The Problem is that during the night
there is less automatic repression. These latent dream thoughts would bubble up. If unchaste, these

Differences Between England And The Colonies
1. Social and Political Climate in England and the Colonies in the 1760s
The decade that began in 1760 saw England and the Colonies exiting the Seven Year s War and
welcoming in a new king. The British Empire was reaching the height of its power with its victory
over France and her Allies. This victory led to enhanced feelings of pride and loyalty to the empire.
(Middlekauff, 2005).
This was not to last however, as the English and American societies were beginning to drift apart. A
lot of this was brought about by the differences inherent in the two societies as the American colonists
had a different class and political structure. More Americans, at least white males, owned property,
there was greater religious diversity, and the population was more ethnically diverse. ( Overview of
the colonial era, n.d.). This ethnic diversity was in large part due to immigration from various parts of
Europe such as Germany, as well as other parts of the British Empire such as Scotland and Ireland.
These immigrants brought with them different political, social and religious traditions that impacted
the overall structure of the colonies. Many of these immigrants ... Show more content on

the administration of the colonies during the early 1700s. During this period the Colonies and England
both benefited economically from the lack of regulation and enforcement. Because of this neglect, the
colonies became more autonomous and less dependent on the British Parliament (Wallenfeldt,

There Should Be Moderated Always Analysis
Is it really necessary to comment on someone else s page to bother and hurt the other person?
Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control, makes the other person
upset and it starts to become something normal to people.
Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control easily. People start
commenting on YouTube channels giving their opinion and another person comes and starts
commenting negative things. Then another person sees someone else trolling and they want to do the
same. For example, every time I go to a YouTube channel there s always someone who comments

Youtubers or people involved in social media get told things that upset them in a way that they want to
quit what they re doing instead of ignoring them. They are emotionally harmed by what others say to

of work to get a lot of people angry. It s not in the best interest of a publication or writer s care to do
that. But maybe I m naïve.(D addario 422) This shows that it s hard for people on social media to
cause such hate on trollers that they would want to waste their time by commenting negative things.
Another Example would be Trolling provokes a reaction, usually negative. Trolling is apparently quite
easy to do. But, if only to better grid one s own defenses against it what is trolling?(D addario 421)

keeps bothering them with the same thing all over again. They also start to get depressed and may start

Self Control In Mona Gardner s The Dinner Party
Women are like roses. Roses may seem delicate and fragile, but they ll surprise you with their sharp
thorns, similar to women. When you judge a women, you ll be surprise by her reaction. The author,
Mona Gardner, of The Dinner Party writes about an event that takes place in India at a dinner party in
the 1940 s. At the party there is a spirited discussion about women and their self control in a crisis. A
young girl believes that women has as much as self control as men. Unlike the girl, the colonel says, A
woman s unfailing reaction in any crisis, the colonel says, is to scream (paragraph 3). This spirited
discussion between these characters reveal the thesis and the author s point. Self control is not
determined by gender.
To begin with, the colonel represents a rigid male perspective of the 1940 s. He helps reveal the theme
and author s point get across to the reader by showing the manly figure of the 1940 s, stereotyping of
women s self control in a crisis. In the story the colonel claims, And while a man may feel like it, he

actions, words, and attitudes. With this trauma experienced, they grew up changed; different from
other children. The parent s behavior affects them and whether they like it or not, sometimes it can
influence them, and they can react against it or can repeat it. In Junot Díaz s Fiesta, 1980 , is presented
this theme of the dysfunctional family. The author presents a story of an adolescent Latin boy called

Our fights didn t bother me too much. I still wanted him to love me... (27) Some interesting fact is that
Junior wish to feel loved by his father, but since his father is abusive with him and do not have any
gesture of love for him, this increases his feeling of disgust and repulsion towards him. Junior finds
the love that he needed in his mother.
Junior is very observant and he describes his mother in a detailed way. He deposits emphasis on his
mother s hands. One thing about Mami, her palms never sweated. (27) Junior s mother is a very lovely
person, pretty and knows how to take good care of his sons. In contrast, the Puerto Rican woman is
described oppositely of his mother. She had papery hands, and when she rubbed the towel on my
chest, she did it hard, like I was a bumper she was waxing. (35) According to Junior, the Puerto Rican
woman is careless and is not lovely as his mother. This increases his disgust towards his father for
being with such a woman that will never be like his mother. This fact supports the idea that his son
father relationship is related to the Freud s Oedipal Conflict.
Junior s father is a complex character. In the story, he is presented as a controlling, authoritative and
dominant person, but sometimes in the story it seems that there is more about him. When we are alone
he treated me much better, like maybe I was

Censorship of Howard Hawks’ Film, Scarface Essay

censorship of Howard Hughes film Scarface (1932) while presenting the opinions of the proponents
and opponents of the practice of censorship in Scarface. Although Scarface (1932), was thought to be
a dangerous film during the 1930s, the film, in general, only portrayed the violence that already
existed in the society at that time. The film wasn t a clear and present danger to the public; therefore,
the film shouldn t have been censored. Changes that were made to the film at the behest of the Hays

Hollywood had every right to make films on controversial topics, but various censorship boards
thought otherwise, and these censorship boards felt that it was necessary to have community
restrictions on immoral topics of controversy such as adultery, prostitution and divorce. The question
was how censorship should be placed on films as well as to what extent in the way these controversial
topics were presented (Black 53).
Continuing the battle over screen content was not an easy task issues were intensified as United States
was facing the greatest economic decline in U.S. history caused by the Depression. As economic
conditions were declining, the film making technology was improving greatly, making more exciting
movies by turning silent cinema into sound movies (Black 53). Having this new technology allowed a
more realistic form of entertainment that was different to other forms of entertainment such as novels.
Consequently, these pictures became a great fascination to the public, offering a kind of cultural
escape valve to which audiences could explore serious controversial issues that were comparative to
the era that they were living in. Given that film producers were including contemporary controversial
issues in their film along with the new technology of sound movies became a great controversial
problem considering the morality of all audiences (women, men and children of all ages).

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Hotel Today i went to the coolest hotel ever! I couldn t believe what i was seeing, it was amazing! Everything was made out of glass, but that s not all. Every room had some sort of waterfall, river, creek, or body of water in it. When I got off the plane all I wanted to do was go inside. The outside was gorgeous, it was all glass and surrounding the hotel was the pacific ocean .When you walk in you see that the floor is made of glass, the walls are made of glass, the ceiling is made of glass, even the tables and chairs are made of glass. Right beside the front desk is a big waterfall with beautiful blue water pouring out of it, at the end of the waterfall there is a place where you can sit down. The concierge leads you up to your room and you have to walk up these beautiful glass stairs. In my room there was a soft blue rug covering the whole floor but still being able to see the floor was glass underneath. There was a king size bed and on the opposite wall there was a fireplace with a tv on the mantle. I turned and noticed there were two other doors in my room, so I walked into the first door and everything was black.. I turned on the light and there was a huge waterfall with a swimming pool at the end of it. It looked like the one downstairs but it was a little bit smaller than that one. I decided i would go into the other room and it was the bathroom. The floor also had a blue rug but everything in the bathroom was glass and i mean everything. The toilet was glass, the ... • 3. Golden Age China Research Paper Golden Age China had a greater cultural influence than did 21st century China, whereas 21st century China has had a greater economic influence. There were many cultural benefits from the Golden Era, including religion, fine arts, and innovations. As a result of the peace and stability which formed during the Tang dynasty, Buddhism was introduced and became a dominant religion among the Chinese. Alongside the new religion, Taoism was also a major religion in China. Through the bonding of these two religions, several other religions emerged, such as the Pure Land Sect, Tian tai sect, and also Chan Buddhism. These new branches of the religions were called sects. Along with religion, the fine arts were also a major part of Chinese life from the Golden Era. Due to the influences of the Silk Road and prosperity of the Tang dynasty, China experienced a time in which the fine arts were further developed. Sculptures, paintings, and the most prevalent of Golden Age China, poetry, were created. At this point, the process starts to move into the mitochondria and the Krebs Cycle is initiated. There is a net gain of 2 ATP and 2 molecules of NADH produced. During Krebs Cycle, the acetyl CoA breaks down further into two molecules of carbon dioxide during each turn of the cycle. In the process, the molecules FAD and NAD are reduced to FADH2 and NADH. 2 ATP is generated during the Krebs Cycle. To enhance academic performance a regular meeting between the tutor and his student is important, as it helps the teacher to know the student s area of weakness and tackle it accordingly. To ensure that there is a constant meeting between the teacher and his students, ICT as a tool of communication is sometimes used to complement or supplement physical meeting as in the case on online learning As mobile communication technologies enable seamless interaction between people and integrate the global network (Arminen, 2007). • 8. Epidemiology, Assessment, and Presentation of an Elderly... As technology advances and medical aid becomes readily available it is no wonder that the elderly within our communities are living longer. Unfortunately this poses a serious issue for health professionals as elderly are becoming more prevalently injured, presenting with complications of higher severity than their younger counterparts (Ng et al., 2002). This essay will discuss the epidemiology, assessment and presentation of an elderly patient suffering from a traumatic injury. It will also examine the considerations specific to the elderly in terms of management, and ethical and cultural differences. Also their ability to compensate is short lived, with each year increase in age from 65 years resulting is a 6% increase in likelihood of death from injury (O Neill, Brady, Kerssens, Parks, 2012). When it comes to the elderly patient there are three particular challenges that all health professionals should take into consideration; co morbidities, polypharmacy and blunted compensatory mechanisms (PHTLS, 2011). Co morbidities are important to consider as an existing medical condition may alter the vital signs you measure. Polypharmacy is particularly important especially if the medications the patient is on could render them unable to compensate appropriately or if you need to administer other medication/fluids. Lastly and possibly most important in trauma is blunted compensatory mechanisms. The elderly are unable to compensate in the way adults are able to which makes them vulnerable when injured (PHTLS, 2011). They do not react the way in which you would expect, meaning you should take extra care when dealing the elderly as their condition can be extremely unpredictable. Any trauma incident begins with an assessment of the scene and determination of the degree of severity of the situation at hand. In RTC this is of great importance as the higher the speed the vehicles were travelling at, the worse condition the patient could be in. • 9. Symptoms Chemical Imbalance Of Serotonin And... 17.5 million Americans are diagnosed with clinical depression every year. It s not just the blues or some made up disease that many people can just get rid of. It affects your moods, thoughts, body, and behavior. Researchers believe depression is caused by the two naturally occurring chemical imbalance of serotonin and norepinephrine. These chemicals are located in the brain and body. Serotonin and norepinephrine are thought to be associated with mood. There are four types of depression. Those are mild depression, major depression, situational depression, and seasonal affective depression also known as the winter blues. It is thought that by the year 2020 depression will be the second largest killer after heart disease, and studies show that it is a contributing factor to coronary disease. People who have depression experience some of these signs: sadness all day and feeling that way every day; Loss of interests or enjoyment in your favorite activities; Feeling emptiness or hopelessness; Fatigue; Sleeping to much; Change in appetite. Many doctors today are prescribing thousands of prescriptions in the battle to fight depression. I believe they need to look at other alternatives to fighting depression first before they so easily reach for that pen and prescription pad. Some of the drugs used to treat depression are Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, and Cymbalta. Many of these drugs have serious side effects and have been linked to suicide, violence, psychosis, abnormal ... German forces storm the Polish borders, and break the Non Aggression Pact laid forth over five years before (EyeWitness). The Fuhrer spoke of the Poles breaking down the peace talks, and of the atrocities committed upon the Germanic people by them (Hitler, Adolf), but these highly exaggerated claims veiled Hitler s true intentions: Though Hitler s primary goal was the conquering of Europe, hindsight shows that the removal of groups of people he disliked or thought of as lesser were included in his plans from the start. It has been my observation that the Germanic peoples have always had an affinity for battle and glory. (Hitler, Adolf) My next source is the Diary from the Years of Occupation 1939 1944, by Dr. Zygmunt Klukowski a Polish chief physician of a small hospital south of Lublin, Poland. His first entry is on October 11, after the Germans have settled in: he starts by stating the Germans are trying to clean up the city, but then details that they re using the Jews as laborers for it. Jews must sweep the streets, clean all the public latrines, and fill all the street trenches. (Klukowski) He continues on to say that they must de arm and finally adds that there is a police curfew in effect. Finally he surmises that it seems most of the orders are aimed at the Jews. (Klukowski) Another entry states that the Germans have been executing mentally ill patients from the nearby hospitals. It is so hard to believe anything as terrible as this. • 12. The Ratio Of Coke s Current Ratio Current Ratio The first of the liquidity ratios is the current ratio. The current ratio is the number of times that current assets exceed current liabilities. It is calculated by dividing the company s current assets by their current liabilities. In most circumstances, the higher the current ratio, the better. The ratio is an excellent indication of the company s ability to pay its short term debts. A decline in the current ratio could imply that the company is having trouble generate cash, it could also be a result of increases of short term debt, and/or a decrease in current assets. An improvement in the current ratio implies that the company has an increased ability to pay off current liabilities. As current ratio declines, the overall risk increases, and as it improves, the risk declines. From 2013 to 2014, Coke s current ratio dropped from 1.13 to 1.02 before rising to 1.24 in the most recent year of 2015. However, compared to Pepsi s ratio of 1.31, Coke s current ratio is lower. To increase their ratio to be more competitive with their benchmark, Coke could use long term borrowing to pay off some of their current liabilities. Quick Ratio Next for the liquidity ratios is the quick ratio. The quick ratio, also called the acid test ratio, is a more accurate test of liquidity than the current ratio because inventory is excluded from current assets. Liquid assets are assets that can easily be converted into cash or cash equivalents. Inventories are considered to be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Constitution people have various rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. Other rights in the Constitution are not presented in the Constitution, but they are arguably stated within its context. In this paper I will agree that the Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges was right in affirming the equal rights of same sex couples based on the due process clause of the fourteenth amendment. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hodges concluded that the right to marry is a fundamental right inherent in the liberty of a person protected by the Constitution. The Court has long afforded the right to marry constitutional protection. But the standard test for identifying a fundamental right under the Due Process Clause is that the right must be deeply rooted in this Nation s history and tradition (Washington Post) . However, the majority opinion went further to find that the liberties implied within the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process Clause have stretched to certain personal choices central to a person s dignity and autonomy, including their intimate choices that define personal identity and beliefs (Washington Post) . Using this idea, the majority opinion concluded that the liberty interest to marry extends to same sex couples. The ruling has helped gay rights advocates fight more than a hundred and fifteen pieces of legislation that were introduced in state legislatures that were targeting gay people. The majority opinion agreed that the Constitution contemplates that democracy is the appropriate process for change. In addition to clearing the way for same sex marriage nationwide, Friday s decision may help end discrimination against gays and lesbians in other matters, such as adoption and custody rights, legal experts say (LATimes) . In addition, wet bin capacity is 3,200 barrels so, according to hourly inventory increasing rate, after passing 5.25 hours, trucks should wait to unload berries. Moreover, overworks should be done for 22.2 hours because workers should dry 13,300 barrels of the berries, but the drying capacity is only 600 barrel per hour besides the arrival rate is 1,210 barrels per hour. To solve this problem, I would recommend to add dryers ($25,000 per each and capacity increases 200 barrels per each) or wet bins ($5,000 per each and capacity increases 250 barrels per each) for short term. We can suggest three options to solve this matter. First, we can add no dryers but convert 15 bins. Second, we can add a dryer and convert 6 bins too. Third, we can add 2 dryers, not to convert any bins. As first option, we need only additional cost of $75,000, which is calculated by $5,000 x 15 bins. By practicing first option, the wet bin storage increases to 6,950, so we can cover all the arrivals of the berries this is done for not to make trucks to wait. In the second option, when we add a dryer, we can handle 800 barrels per hour in drying process and we can reduce the overworking time from 22.2 hour to 16.6 hour. (13,300 barrel / 800 barrel equals to 16.6 hours per a day) We can estimate overtime saved cost and it is closely related to labor cost. Labor cost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I say this because he didn t involve one of the main characters, Romeo, in a plan that later was ruined because Romeo didn t know. I also say this because Friar Lawrence was quite a hypocrite. Primarily, I say Friar Lawrence is to blame for Romeo and Juliet s deaths because he did not involve Romeo in a plan to have Juliet appear dead,so she could get away from her parents, and get out of marrying Paris. This in other words, is the process through which plants use carbon dioxide and water to grow, produce their food, and release ex cess of oxygen into the air. Plants versus Photovoltaics: Which Are Better to Capture Solar Energy? is an article written by David Biello, and published in May 12, 2011. With this article, Biello s purpose was to determine that the relative efficiency of photosynthesis and photovoltaics is not a simple problem. Biello s main purpose with this article is to open up a question to the reader of whether plants are better at capturing solar energy than photovoltaics or vise versa, and how each process contributes to nature. In this essay, 3 main points will be discussed how each model convert energy, what can each model bring to nature, and how can photosynthesis be improved and still conserve real nature animals, like insects (no enhanced bugs or plants). This scene by leonardo depicts the last days of jesus christ on earth. In the gospel of John 13:21 it states Verily I say unto you: one of you will betray me . Though this artwork may look like a strong biblical depiction on first take. It is a much more complex piece of artwork. To analyze this painting we will first take a look at the apostles themselves. Debt, Investment And Spending Analysis Debt, Investment and Spending Analysis With Tony s GIC coming due next month with an approximate worth of $163,000, now would be a good time to conceder how best to spend this money. Looking at your current net worth, I can see a major portion of your liabilities comes from your mortgage. Come October, this mortgage will have decreased to $137,000. Should you refinance your mortgage at the current rate of 5.5% for an additional 25 years, you d be paying an $115,811 in interest. To compare, if you took this $137,000 and put it into a GIC, you d receive $89,105 which is $26,706 less. For this reason, I believe you should spend $137,000 of the GIC to pay of the house completely. This will leave you with an extra $2,500 a month when compared to your current cash flow. Similarly, your credit card debt can also be taken care of with the funds from the GIC. As the interest on credit card debt is 30%, it s a good idea to get this paid off as quickly as possible. Credit card debt can easily grow and get out of hand. The interest you would have to pay would be $1,365 more than you would earn if you d put that same amount into a savings account for one year. As CESGs also have a high interest rate of 20%, so it would be advantageous to put a full $10,000 into your children s RESP. This would give you the maximum available CESGs for the year, giving you a return of $2,000. That s $1,550 more than you would earn if you d put that same amount into a savings account for one year. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My hypothesis is that the catapult will shoot the furthest and I think that I am right do to previous research by professionals. But in other cases the catapult is made to full size but in this case it is made to a scale factor of 25% of its original size so that might affect the result because in the larger version there is more force on the launcher and in the crossbow there isn t as much tension build up. • 30. Summary Of Pollastek E. Al s Study Summary: The central focus of Pollastek et al s (2012) study was to determine why elderly drivers are more likely to be involved in vehicular accidents at intersections than younger experienced drivers. As a means of data collection Pollastek et al (2012) tested the scanning ability of elderly drivers at intersections through a series of different scenarios. Each scenario took place in a simulated environment, testing the scanning ability of elderly drivers where they were instructed to go through 1) a four way intersection, 2) turn right at a T intersection and 3) proceed through an intersection. Pollastek et al (2012) found that elderly drivers fail to properly scan for potential hazards while proceeding through intersections. Pollastek et al (2012) also found that by providing video feedback the participants in the training group performed similarly to younger experienced drivers. Reactions: The strengths of Pollastek et al s (2012) study lie in the methods used for data collection. By utilizing a driving simulator to imitate potentially hazardous driving conditions, Pollastek et al (2012) ensured that the experiment was safely conducted. The driving simulator also allowed Pollastek et al (2012) to test participants in a controlled setting restricting the number of unknown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 31. Media Bias In Society Media bias can be seen today on every type of media coverage that exists. Media bias is how the person reporting the information perceives it, whether through their language when they speak about the subject or their choice of words used in the article they wrote. A trending and important topic, subject to such media bias is genetically modified organisms. These GMOs have modified DNA which leads to better traits. For example, some modifications are to be able to withstand lower or higher temperatures to growing bigger and at a faster rate. The perception of GMOs in society is heavily split into two factions. One side is supporters of GMOs as they see it as a necessity in today s society of billions of people. The other side is the people against GMOs who believe GMOs are not actually beneficial to the society and may cause negative effects in overall human health. GMOs is profoundly shown biasedly through people in all types of media coverage, like magazines, newspapers, radio segments, the internet, or televised news segments since the people reporting use multiple fallacies. Media bias pertaining to GMOs can be seen in magazine articles. An article by Time magazine called FOOD: GMOs Are Our Destiny is biased towards GMOs (Jahren, 2016). The article uses the appeal to emotion, the attempt of persuasion through the use of emotion and feelings. For Freud, it s important to understand that Infant and waking life were full of emotions, drives, wishes, traumas, aggression, sex, and experiences that our mind could not consciously handle and that loaded psychic material could not regularly be repressed or barried in the unconscious. He once quoted, There is, in fact, no better analogy for repression, by which something in the mind is at once made inaccessible and preserved than burial of the sort to which Pompeii fell a victim and from which it could emerge once more through the work of spades Freud The Problem is that during the night there is less automatic repression. • 33. Differences Between England And The Colonies 1. Social and Political Climate in England and the Colonies in the 1760s The decade that began in 1760 saw England and the Colonies exiting the Seven Year s War and welcoming in a new king. The British Empire was reaching the height of its power with its victory over France and her Allies. This victory led to enhanced feelings of pride and loyalty to the empire. (Middlekauff, 2005). This was not to last however, as the English and American societies were beginning to drift apart. A lot of this was brought about by the differences inherent in the two societies as the American colonists had a different class and political structure. More Americans, at least white males, owned property, there was greater religious diversity, and the population was more ethnically diverse. ( Overview of the colonial era, n.d.). This ethnic diversity was in large part due to immigration from various parts of Europe such as Germany, as well as other parts of the British Empire such as Scotland and Ireland. These immigrants brought with them different political, social and religious traditions that impacted the overall structure of the colonies. Many of these immigrants ... The colonies also had and established tradition of individual rights under the English Common Law and the English Constitution. (Lustig, 2003). This understanding of rights and legal responsibilities differed from those of England as the British Parliament had neglected the administration of the colonies during the early 1700s. During this period the Colonies and England both benefited economically from the lack of regulation and enforcement. Because of this neglect, the colonies became more autonomous and less dependent on the British Parliament (Wallenfeldt, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. There Should Be Moderated Always Analysis Is it really necessary to comment on someone else s page to bother and hurt the other person? Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control, makes the other person upset and it starts to become something normal to people. Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control easily. People start commenting on YouTube channels giving their opinion and another person comes and starts commenting negative things. Then another person sees someone else trolling and they want to do the same. For example, every time I go to a YouTube channel there s always someone who comments negative things and then a lot of people comment back and they don t stop until the youtuber blocks the comment sections. Youtubers or people involved in social media get told things that upset them in a way that they want to quit what they re doing instead of ignoring them. They are emotionally harmed by what others say to them. Trollers make negative comments on purpose to hurt other people. For example It s heck of a lot of work to get a lot of people angry. It s not in the best interest of a publication or writer s care to do that. But maybe I m naïve.(D addario 422) This shows that it s hard for people on social media to cause such hate on trollers that they would want to waste their time by commenting negative things. Another Example would be Trolling provokes a reaction, usually negative. Trolling is apparently quite easy to do. But, if only to better grid one s own defenses against it what is trolling?(D addario 421) Every person is different and they might take the negative comments especially if the same person keeps bothering them with the same thing all over again. Junior finds the love that he needed in his mother. Junior is very observant and he describes his mother in a detailed way. He deposits emphasis on his mother s hands. One thing about Mami, her palms never sweated. (27) Junior s mother is a very lovely person, pretty and knows how to take good care of his sons. In contrast, the Puerto Rican woman is described oppositely of his mother. She had papery hands, and when she rubbed the towel on my chest, she did it hard, like I was a bumper she was waxing. Hollywood had every right to make films on controversial topics, but various censorship boards thought otherwise, and these censorship boards felt that it was necessary to have community restrictions on immoral topics of controversy such as adultery, prostitution and divorce. The question was how censorship should be placed on films as well as to what extent in the way these controversial topics were presented (Black 53). Continuing the battle over screen content was not an easy task issues were intensified as United States was facing the greatest economic decline in U.S. history caused by the Depression. As economic conditions were declining, the film making technology was improving greatly, making more exciting movies by turning silent cinema into sound movies (Black 53). Having this new technology allowed a more realistic form of entertainment that was different to other forms of entertainment such as novels. Consequently, these pictures became a great fascination to the public, offering a kind of cultural escape valve to which audiences could explore serious controversial issues that were comparative to the era that they were living in.
