According to Willoughby (2014), the community media and publishing media are two of the most
important types of the social media nowadays. The community media focusses upon the interaction
between users. The community media is such as Facebook. By contrast, publish media, such as
Youtube and Instagram, emphasizes the sharing of different media format, like video and picture. The
social features come second to the content sharing. As the marketing campaign of share a Coke is in
interest, it is essential for the brand of Coca Cola to choose the right categories of social media. From
the argument by Evans (2012). Indeed, as the campaign of share a Coke aims to creates conversation
and attention among the customers, the social media has a direct bearing on the efficiency of the
marketing campaign. As Grimes (2013) wrote, share a Coke is originally designed to attract the
demographics of 18 25 years old customers to purchase personalized product and to share their love
on the social media. In U.K., the marketing campaign is executed on the various platforms.
As Willoughby (2014) presented, four criteria could be used to analyse a marketing campaign: sales
growth, increasing proximity to the customers, and cost reduction. This literature review would
primarily examine the criteria of sales growth and increase in the proximity to customers. Firstly, sales
growth means that the monthly or

Brooding Rumination
Rumination is defined as repetitive, and often uncontrolled thoughts, that narrow focus on to the
circumstances of depression. There are two forms of depressive rumination. Brooding rumination is
when someone compares themselves to an unachieved standard, and reflective rumination is
cogitatively attempting to solve a problem. In a study by Owens and Gibb (2016) they try to address
the many questions linking ruminative thought to attentional biases, and specifically look into the
interaction between brooding rumination s relationship with attentional biases and state of mood. They
also wanted to see if brooding rumination shows this relation in a non depressed sample, and whether
it is limited to only brooding rumination, or can it also be observed for reflective rumination as well.
This study could highlight better ways of diagnosis and treatment for depressed individuals. The study
contained 105 adults, all parents, with a mean age of 36. The majority of them were women, as well as
Caucasian. The structured clinical interview was done to find any lifetime histories of DSM IV axis 1
disorders, as well as the Beck depression inventory II to assess current depressive symptoms, with
minimum to mild scores being reported. A self report questionnaire was used to assess the level of

It also shows that this effect is not dependent on whether or not a person is, or has been, depressed. It
also negates the idea that the effects could also be found in reflective rumination, supporting the
distinction between the two. The results highlight a potential method for assessing a person risk for
depressive thoughts, and attentional biases. Further research into this topic could provide a better
understanding of depression and its related symptoms, thus helping us develop better method for
treatment and for

Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
Walt Whitman s Song of Myself helps inspire my body and soul, activates my mind, and encourages
individual discovery for the sake of creating a better world for all to live in. It also acts as a form of
instruction for becoming an American in ideal and in action. Through his free form verse and tone that
reflects more of a wizened and rosy cheeked grandfather than controversial poet, Whitman s writing
acts as a refreshing breath to all, including myself, that are searching for an empathetic peace of mind.
I celebrate myself, and sing myself,/ And what I assume you shall assume,/ For every atom belonging
to me as good belongs to you./ , Whitman begins, inviting the reader to a conversation by the fireside,
as we are equal in spirit, matter, and creation, which should obviously be celebrated and shared.
Whitman provides a view of the world around him in which every action, person, object, and event is
held as a miracle. He harkens back to Emersonian ideals of the divine being a part of all, reflecting, I
hear and behold God in every object, yet understand God not in the least, and further on, I see
something of God each hour of the twenty four, and each moment then . This challenges me to open
my mind to a worldview not limited to my own origin or upbringing, but to view the world with a
universal love and positive connection. This includes looking onto traditionally repulsive concepts,
including body odor, the butcher shedding his clothes, and a prostitute stricken with pox, as signs of
the divine. Pages are dedicated to describing the sights he assigns as portions of the song of myself .
He, and by extension, me, have a personal connection to the boy that lies awake in the cedar roof d
garret and harks to the musical rain , and have just as close a bond to the aforementioned prostitute as
her bonnet bobs on her tipsy and pimpled neck . John Paul Jones is as much a part of us as the
numberless unknown heroes that have perished without memory. All are equal parts of himself and
myself, as every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.
Whitman wrote in a manner to educate every person, and more specifically, every American, on how
to embrace each moment and forge a path to understand their

Role Of Financial Aid In Education
How Does Financial Aid Work?
Financial aid is a sensational implement for students all around the world. It is done in several
different ways and benefits the lives of an abundance of people. Different levels of government work
together to fund students by providing programs like FAFSA, for example. The federal government
ensures the cooperation of state and local governments by providing funds to help them implement
important programs. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It can be assembled
yearly by current and incoming college students in the United States to determine their eligibility for
student financial aid. This program gives students who are not able to pay for college a chance to do

The Department s mission is to advocate the students accomplishments and preparation for
competitiveness all around the world by strengthening educational preeminence and guaranteeing fair
entrance. The Department of education also works with several councils to guarantee education for
kids who are homeless called the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. They work
with federal partners to allow those students to have a proper education as well.
At Collin College varying levels of government work in conjunction to give students who don t have
the chance the opportunity for a cheaper way to continue their education. Collin College is a local way
that students get funded but it still uses the involvement of the government to get ahold of the funds.
Whether if it s through grants or loans, a student still gets an education that is more cost efficient than
most other places. This community college is a great way for students to further their education no
matter what circumstance they might be in.

Symbolism In A Hanging By George Orwell
By examining George Orwell s short story, A Hanging, one can see that the symbolism of the
unexpected canine, and the symbolic action of stepping around a puddle can illustrate the importance
of each individual life. To start off, it is evident in the story that the presence of an animal was not a
common occurrence within the walls of the prison. As the narrator observed the prisoner due to be
hanged, he saw that he was not much more than a Hindu man approaching death. But unexpectedly, a
joyous dog appeared and approached the scene of people and went straight for that Hindu man. It s
love and attention for the prisoner put everyone around them in shock, as the action began to
humanize and be rid the anonymity that the prisoner s life once ... Show more content on

The realization of the catastrophic deeds being carried through to be rid those full, healthy lives
reinstated the narrator s morality for that short period of time. The immediate transition of thoughts is
clearly demonstrated when the narrator states, It is curious, but till that moment I had never realized
what it means to destroy a healthy, conscious man. When I saw the prisoner step aside to avoid the
puddle, I saw the mystery, the unspeakable wrongness, of cutting a life short when it is in full tide
(Orwell 2). If it were not for the prisoner caring about such a miniscule act, the sensitization towards
the prejudice murders being committed would not have occurred as strongly to the narrator. The
unspeakable wrongness of cutting a life short when it is in full tide developed his understanding of the
wrongdoing behind the negative imperialistic environment that surrounds him. This emphasizes to the
reader how a slight reaction that is often dismissed, can symbolize the deeper value of a healthy,
conscious man having enough dignity left to avoid such a small mishap like stepping in a

Essay on Microeconomics and the Board Game Monopoly
All I ever needed to know about microeconomics I learned from the Hasbro board game Monopoly.
Some people, like myself, need practical models in order to understand certain concepts and theories.
In our text book The Economy Today it completely ignores the intrinsic value of business decisions
because you can t put a numeric value on it. The game Monopoly™ is all about the numbers. In the
game of Monopoly™ you have goals: The object is to bankrupt all opponents. To do so, you must be
dedicated and make each decision with the aim of improving your chances and wiping out your
opponents. (Monopoly) In what I will call throughout the paper real life, the goal is the same. Look at

Know when to cause a building shortage If you have only low rent color groups, quickly build three or
four houses per property to restrict the availability of houses to owners of high rent color groups.
Never move up to a hotel anywhere if the return of houses to the bank would enable an opponent to
develop an expensive color group. (Example: the Yellow group has just been formed. There are only
three houses in the bank, but six hotels. You own the light blues with four houses on each. Do not buy
hotels. Doing so would give the player owning the Yellows an opportunity to build up to hotels on
them.) (Monopoly.com)
By buying up the houses you are creating a barrier to entry. It is a barrier even if your opponent has
the necessary funds to enter. This is because of the basic economic principal of scarce resources, or as
Stephen Slavin calls it in Economics Control over essential resource. (Slavin 541)
The game Monopoly is a prime illustration of scarce resources; that is, There s a limit to the amount
we can produce in a given time with available resources. (Schiller 9) The property is limited Nothing

Lolita Innocence Essay
advances. But by six she was wide awake, and by six fifteen we were technically lovers. I am going to
tell you something very strange: it was she who seduced me. (Nabokov 132). However, this accusation
against Lolita again proves Humbert to be unreliable and his need for control by blaming Lolita for
her perilous magic of a nymphet. He also points out that he was not even Lolita s first sexual
experience, ultimately, he justifies that he did not possess her sexual innocence. Although, he also
reveals Lolita to appear physically inexperienced in which he says, she was not quite prepared for
certain discrepancies between a kid s life and mine. (Nabokov 135). Humbert contradicts himself in
his use of innocence in the way that Lolita has prior sexual experience, so therefore by his definition,
she is no longer innocent; however, he indicates she remains innocent in respect to knowledge and
naivety. Humbert alludes to his belief that Lolita is innocent due to her lack of knowledge and
understanding during their first sexual encounter in which he suggests she seduced him, She saw the
stark act merely as part of a youngster s furtive world, unknown to adults. What adults did for
purposes of procreation was no business of hers. (Nabokov 133). These passages reveal is far from
being sexually mature and understanding the magnitude of adult sexuality, whereas Humbert does
understand. Hagemann elaborates on Humbert s manipulation of innocence which ultimately points in
his unreliability by stating, If lack of knowledge of or experience with sex ... Show more content on

Brian Snare Analysis
The intricate universe of mergers is often a chaotic endeavor for many musicians, one where few
artists have found success unless that artist s name is Brian Eno. But let it be a pair of Canadian
producers to subvert this notion. A master at exercising the dichotomy between electronic
intelligentsia and the dark confines of breakcore, Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) teams up with prolific
producer Daniel Lanois, whose name is attached to projects like U2 s The Joshua Tree and Brian Eno
s Apollo Atmospheres Soundtracks. As two preeminent musical minds come together to bounce ideas
off one another, Venetian Snares and Daniel Lanois self titled project witnesses the duo pulling in their
respective sonic backgrounds to devise contemporary terrains of sound while pushing each other s
unique talents into untouchable acclivities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bass peppers in and out of a veil of shimmering chords. This unusual marriage of synthetic styles has
only been accomplished by one other electronic artist prior, by none other than Aphex Twin with his
masterful body of work. With this unlikely masterpiece, Funk, a pillar of IDM, does what he does best
and finds that menacing place where synthetic drum and bass repeat, speed up, then abruptly

Escape In The Gulag
The absolute freedom to choose is a gift, especially in a Russian gulag. The freedom to choose is not
always given, and most of the time it has to be found. Absolute freedom of choice means that you
have all the freedom you need to make a decision that is wanted. The choices giving to zeks at the
time were slim to none at all. In fact most prisoners that had freedom, were willing to risk their lives
to have it. One example of this is Captain Buynovsky. One day, Captain was ordered to take off the

being the headstrong naval officer that he is, would not go down without a fight and pulled out the

Profound anxiety is unlike any other feeling, it is a crippling feeling that overtakes you soul and
makes the feeling of fear and regret. It makes a hopeless feeling in your soul one that is hard to forget.
One scene in the story that portrays anxiety is when Ivan puts the small blade he finds in his mitten.
One way of survival in the gulag is to use what you can find. When Ivan find a sharp piece of steel on
the ground, he takes it, and doesn t know where to hide it. As he gets closer to being patted down by
the guards, he decides that he should put it into his mitten. When he gets to the front of the line, he
starts to stress out thinking that the guards are going to find the blade. The guard checked one mitten,
was about to grab for the other mitten, and then got distracted and let Ivan through the check. Another
example was when one of the campers, Moldavian, got lost and no guards could find him, which
meant that all of the zeks had to stand outside, and wait until they found him. They had to wait as long
as it took, even if that meant missing dinner. This gave all of the zeks one thing to think about, and
that was missing dinner. Every person knew that missing a meal would be the worst thing that could

In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in
different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin their
dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are moments when the
camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three men with his leg straight up
in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the woman in a yellow dress from
before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise and relaxing. She is making things
that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing it. I could watch her dance for hours.
Just as with the three men from before some of her movements are caught in slow motion, at just the
perfect time to see her body contort in different ways. The film ends with the dying man and the
woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out his substance from his body while he dies in her
arms.
Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close my
eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it that
makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone created

Summary Of Crossing The Wire
Crossing the Wire is an award winning book about a young boy s journey across the Mexican border
and into America. Although Crossing the Wire is not based on a true story, it expands on a very real
problem that many immigrants face. The story captivates the idea of what it s like to be an illegal
immigrant whilst having a family to provide for. From the viewpoint of Victor Flores, the main
character, we see the difficulties Victor has and how he works his way through them. There are many
lessons to be learned from the novel, three of which are: having endurance, thinking through tough
decisions, and putting family first. The first lesson that can be taken from the book is to have
endurance.Throughout the novel, Victor Flores, the main character, encounters many obstacles.
Unfortunately, He comes face to face with things that almost make him lose hope.Though troubles
come his way, he learns to avoid them and have endurance through it all. 2 Corinthians 6:4 tells us to

Victor, unlike Rico was extremely cautious. He put into consideration what he needed to do in order to

is to always put family first. Victor went through an immense amount trouble to support his family. He
never lost sight of what mattered most and at that always got him through at the end of the day.
Willingly, Victor sacrifices a normal life in Mexico for a hard fought life in America. [1 Timothy 5:8]

men, that the people have the right to abolish that government. I do believe all of these are self evident
because they are founded clearly on the fact that the people should have the power and say in the

Al Capone And The St. Valentine s Day Massacre
Only Capone s gang kills like that! a quote by Bugs Moran, leader of North Side Gang (Gottesman 1).
On February 14, 1929, seven men were killed in a warehouse loading zone in Chicago, USA
climaxing a huge rivalry between the North Side Gang and Al Capone s. Capone was one of the most
dominant and well known gangsters during the Prohibition Era, ranging between 1920 and 1933.
Prohibition in Chicago was huge, many people wanted to go out for a drink and have a good time after

This great demand for and simultaneous legalization of alcohol opened up a new illegal market for the
gangster to develop and monopolize. As Al Capone put it, All I do is to supply a public demand...
somebody had to throw some liquor on that thirst, Why not me? (1). With the prohibition getting
everyone down, now that they can t drink a beer and go out with friends anymore Al Capone thought
he could take the reigns of this situation by starting to bootleg beer. He was already a leader of a very
large and successful gang so he thought that if he could get his men to secretly bootleg beer in and out
of Chicago then he would become one of the richest men in the U.S.. His dream came true as he
nearly pocketed 60 million dollars in one year alone and 60 million which is now worth about 700

wealthy man. As Capone was making million after million others wanted to get in on this action,
creating new gangs to try and halt Capone and his dominance. One of these gangs was the Moran
Gang, led by leader Bugs Moran, this gang ruled the North Side of Chicago while Capone and his men

Persuasive Essay On Snowing In Sports
Hockey is a game that should be fun and played with sticks and pucks not with scraped ice. Snowing
is an action where a player stops in front of the goalie either intestinally or by accident. This creates
snow, which ends up spraying the goalie in the face with the snow that was created. The school made
the correct decision that snowing in practice for fun is considered hazing. Making snowing a habit in
practice for the players, they would think its ok to do it in games. Snowing is considered
unsportsmanlike penalty if its done intentionally, in the discretion of the referee. But snowing has no
real physical abuse; it won t leave any significant damage to the kid s eyes. Snowing in practice
shouldn t be tolerated; it could make the kids think that snowing is okay. When the kids believe its
okay they would bad habits, eventually doing it on purpose in games to distract the goalie. This isn t
okay this action shows a sign of bad sportsmanship, which is never okay in sports. These could lead to
bad habits later in life when playing time or roster spots is limited. When these kids still have these
habits, these kids would either get limited playing time or not be offered a spot even though they are
skilled. The player would feel upset that they didn t make it even though you are skilled. Coaches

They were the first human whose fossils were found outside of Africa. They also had larger brain than
the species before them. Homo sapiens sapiens came after the Homo Neanderthalensis; they are the
only human species around. This could have been due to the result of increase brain sizes that allows
more cognitive abilities that help them adapt to different environment changes and hence survive.
Global evidence have been found of art, music, and culture and advanced tool making. In Mithen s 3
phase of mind proposes that the shape of the Neanderthals frontal lobe was similar to the one of the
modern Homo sapiens and this indicated that they were able to cope with complex cognitive
functioning. Evidence for this could be explained using the phonological approach by Frank Gall
(1758 1828).
Human evolution links with the history of psychology through Thomas Wynn s cognitive archaeology.

The Conservation Of Coagulation Factor V
Rob Markowitz NSA
The Conservation of Coagulation Factor V Protein, and its Role in Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia
Introduction: The cascade which must occur for blood to successfully clot is complex, multivariable,
and fraught with opportunities to go awry. The coagulation process requires the organization of
platelets, enzymes, cofactors, and fibrin to develop a protective covering when blood vessels become
injured to prevent loss of blood and prohibit infection.1 While some pathologies related to clotting are
a result of age, environment, or lifestyle, the most common cause of thrombophilia, an increased
propensity to form blood clots in the vessels, is an inherited genetic mutation known as Factor V
Leiden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is interesting to note that even with such an elevated risk, only roughly a tenth of those carrying the
mutation will have a thrombotic event which leaves room to investigate the influence of other factors
both endogenous and external.4 To this end, it is necessary to better understand the coagulation factor
V protein, including it s conservation among organisms to determine a suitable model in which to
study, and in the future develop therapeutic interventions. Additionally, coagulation factor V protein
presents an excellent opportunity to build upon a solid base of knowledge in regards to how organisms
have evolved blood clotting functions. Given how fundamental the protein s function is and blood
clotting as a whole is, it serves as a valuable tool to probe the development of similar systems in other
organisms, and assess which divergent proteins may have shared a common ancestral path.
Methods:
To fully understand the role of coagulation factor V protein, a review of the medical and scientific
literature was conducted utilizing PubMed5. This was necessary to understand the implications of the
mutated protein in the development of factor V Leiden thrombophilia, as well as its function as part of
the cascade when the wild type gene is present. Search terms used were Factor V

Nursing Roles Involved In An Inpatient Setting
Surgery, whether elective or emergent, is a stressful, complex event. Today, as a result of advances in
surgical techniques and instrumentation as well as in anesthesia, many surgical procedures that were
once performed in an inpatient setting now take place in an ambulatory or outpatient setting.
Approximately 60% of elective surgeries are now performed in an ambulatory or outpatient setting
(Russell, Williams Bulstrode, 2000). This trend has increased the acuity and complexity of surgical
patients and procedures. The number of surgical patients admitted for overnight hospital stays is
expected to continue to decrease. Perioperative and perianesthesia nursing addresses the nursing roles
relevant to the three phases of the surgical experience: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative

the procedure or the anesthetic, and even death. Surgical asepsis is absence of microorganisms or

Imagine Dragons Hyperbole
In the song On Top Of The World by Imagine Dragons, they are singing about how you shouldn t give
up no matter what the circumstances. The artists are saying that you shouldn t let anyone or anything

personification. The theme of never giving up is shown with hyperboles and personification. Starting
off with Cause I m on top of the world . Cause I m on top of the world would be a hyperbole because
you can t actually be on top of the world. What Imagine Dragons are trying to say is that if you keep

you are on top of the world. Secondly, Life

Natural Objects Used Convey A Symbolic Meaning
Natural Objects used to convey a Symbolic Meaning
Percy Shelley was a writer during the Romantic Era, often known for his lyric poetry. In lyric poetry,
the mood is often musical and emotional, often represented in rhythm and rhyme (Portnoy). The writer
of a lyric poem uses words that express his state of mind, his perceptions, or his feelings. Shelley
composes lyric poetry that makes use of the language, imagery, and metaphors to represent a symbolic
meaning of the object he is addressing in each poem (Portnoy). Shelley often uses concrete images in
his poetry to convey an abstract idea. Shelley uses natural objects to represent a symbolic meaning
throughout Mont Blanc, Hymn to Intellectual Beauty, and Ode to the West Wind. In Mont ... Show

Shelley uses the way water flows through a riverbank to symbolize the way our thought flows through
our mind The source of human thought its tribute brings, Of water, with a sound of half its own, Such
as a feeble brook will oft assume, In the wild woods, among the mountains lone, Where waterfalls
around it leap for ever (Shelley 871). Thoughts rush into the mind filling the brain, similarly as water
rushes down a riverbank, filling the riverbank until it can hold no more. Within this mind human
thought brings its tribute, that is, giving the external world what it owes to it, like a brook flowing as a
tributary into a mighty river (Portnoy). The beginning of the second stanza, Shelley states Thus thou,
Ravine of Arve dark, deep Ravine Thou many coloured, many voice vale (Shelley 871) to further
symbolize the way our thoughts flow through our mind, just as the River of Arve flows through this
ravine. Shelley turns from his own private inward musing to look at the scene in front of him, the
ravine of the River Arve at the foot of Mount Blanc (Portnoy). Shelley uses the many colours
reflecting off the River Arve Thou many colour, many voice vale (Shelley 871) to symbolize the way
our many different memories can affect the thoughts within our minds. The final line of the fifth
stanza ends the poem by questioning the vacancy found in silence and solitude And what were thou,

Analysis on Atheism
To be honest with you I think some of McCloskey questions of the existence of God are based and as
a Christian I know I have questioned the existence of God at one point in my life. I had to really learn
the hard way. From the article one can see that McCloskey is trying very hard to dismiss every claim
of the theistic view. From the videos on blackboard, when someone decides to prove something or
someone, then that means there is certainty and assurance that thing is absolutely true. The truth of the
matter is that we cannot prove one hundred percent of the existence of God and that is why an Atheist
like McCloskey would say that without evidence then there is no God. McCloskey try s his best to
scientifically prove that the creation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that every argument is defeasible. I think that the reason that McCloskey is saying this is
because he is arguing the God of the bible and not the minimalistic ideal of God. Everyone is entitled
to believe what he or she wants to believe, he saying that the cosmological argument, does not entitle
us to an all powerful and all perfect God but that still does not disvalue the rational of there being a
God in the first place and I believe that makes his statement meaningless in disproving the necessity
and presence of God.
When it comes to the teleological argument, McCloskey also claims that the teleological argument
lacks premises due to similar reasons as the cosmological argument. In short both arguments do not
prove God as a designer. In his mind, this argument is faulty because it does not show enough
evidence for the existence of God. What he means when he argues for a genuine indisputable example
of design of the universe is that he desired to see obvious proof for the existence of God. He disagrees
with the fact that it is impossible to proof something with one hundred evidence. In Evans and Manis,
when they talk about some noticeable evidences that prove the existence of God in Philosophy of
religion, they said that the way in which nature and the universe is organized and structured there must

Victor Frankenstein As A Monster
Mary Shelley describes how the behaviors of the characters in the story led to their downfall. In
Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein is very irresponsible and naïve. His creation, the
monster is hideous and hopeless. When Victor was a young child, science was his favorite subject
because he was fascinated with experiments. He enjoyed and continued reading outdated books by
Agrippa to expand his knowledge in science, even though his father discouraged him to do so. Victor
was determined to fulfill his desires because he wanted to create his own innovation that would
benefit society. After Victor had become a student at the University of Ingolstadt, he locked himself in
the laboratory and worked hard to prove his theory on creating human life. When his creation was
nothing like Victor imagined, the start of his self destruction begins. While both humans and machines
rely heavily on information to acquire knowledge, machines are more sensible under any
circumstances.
Victor Frankenstein is introduced as an ambitious young man who aspires to be a scientist that finds
answers to all his questions. According to Shelley (2003), I opened it with apathy; the theory which he
attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this feeling into
enthusiasm (34). When Victor discovered the works of Cornelius Agrippa, he suddenly found life
meaningful because natural philosophy caught his attention. Regardless of what people say, Victor

GENESIS AND ANCIENT MYTHS OF THE NEAR EAST
When one approaches the biblical text, it is important to explore the cultural context in which the text
occurs. With regard to the Book of Genesis, it is important to examine the writing with other
contemporary works of similar geography and topics. The people of ancient Mesopotamia, where the
oldest civilizations originated, produced a number of stories of creation and natural occurrences. It is
important to note that many of the stories of the Sumerians, Akkadians and Hebrews began as oral
traditions as the events they depict predate writing, so it is difficult to date these works on the basis of
when these prehistoric myths were initiated. Comparison to writings contemporary to the people of
Israel, can offer a deeper understanding of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as there existed beings outside of creation in the Enuma Elish, the Hebrew God was present prior
to the formation of the world. As the universe becomes defined in the following stages, the
development described in each of the stories show a resemblance in events and the order in which they
occurred. It is important to note that light existed, in both stories, independent of celestial bodies.
Next, in same order, the sky and ground are created, followed by luminaries or the sun, moon and
stars. The fact that the sequence of the creation stories is nearly identical can hardly be accidental
according to some scholars. Subsequently, man is created with elements of divinity, given the task of
working the soil . At the conclusion of each creation story, the deities rest from their work. While it is
necessary to refrain from exaggerating the influence found in these similarities, it is equally essential
to remain open to the understanding that these works emerged within a similar conceptual world .
Though many similarities in the creation stories of Genesis and the Enuma Elish, the divergences are
much more far reaching and significant . Unlike the gods of depicted in the Enuma Elish who were
coexistent and coeternal with the comic matter , the Hebrew God is transcendent and separate from the
substance of the cosmos, having Himself created it. While the Hebrew God exists in eternity past,

Coney Island Essay
Progressivism was at the peak of its movement in America during the new era of Coney Island and
was observed by many critics. Progressives at the time liked to focus on order and to decrease
activities that took away from the structure of life. It was the goal of progressives to address any
political or local problems, especially those focusing on an increase in industrialization among urban
societies and cultures (Textbook, 778). Kasson states in his book that it was the goal of progressives to
reform society back to work and profit, but the engineering of the amusement parks and its influence
was all incorrect to society (104 105). The book focuses slightly on how Progressives used their
movement to attack others who did not agree with their political and economic beliefs. Whereas,
Kasson explains Progressives as a voice of opinion during this time that believed there was a way to

of Coney Island. For example, he is biased to the belief that Coney Island was a time of a developing

Coney Island was the transformation of a new society based on urban reform and industrial success
within a new mass culture. He explains the growth of railroads, hotels, architecture, shows and

Booker T Washington 1894 Atlanta Compromise Speech Analysis
In Booker T. Washington s 1895 Atlanta Compromise Speech, he is trying to convince his audience by
using vivid imagery, allegories, repetition, and reasonable ideas. He uses an optimistic tone to convey
four appeals. Throughout the whole speech, he establishes his credibility to a predominantly white
audience to make his point stand out for the changes he believes are necessary.
Booker T. Washington delivers the 1895 Atlanta Compromise Speech to a white and black audience
about the equality blacks and whites deserve. As a black speaker in the north, Washington influences
and impresses many of the northern citizens with his moving speech. Washington brought with him
...evidence of racial progress in the South . His audience contained the president and the board of
directors as well as citizens.
In the beginning, Washington uses vivid imagery through his ideas. He begins his speech with strong
statistics, One third of the population of the South is of the Negro race. No enterprise seeking the
material, civil, or moral welfare of this section can disregard this element of our population and reach
the highest success, (Washington 1). Using logos in this speech shows his strong points to his
audience revealing a realistic view of what is going on around them, and represent the kind of power
the black population actually has. Washington also applies ethos in his opening statements by
establishing his credibility and aspirations. American Negro been more fittingly and generously
recognized than by the managers of this magnificent Exposition at every stage of its progress. It is a
recognition that will do more to cement the friendship of the two races than any occurrence since the
dawn of our freedom, (Washington 1). He uses this to to express his aspirations for the long run and
establish where he stands. Without this section, Washington may not have everyone s attention in the
audience. The purpose may not be understood as clearly. Later in his speech, Washington uses strong
rhetorical devices to deliver more examples of his point of view and feelings on this topic. Washington
uses many powerful rhetorical devices throughout his speech, including this allegory, A ship lost at sea

Disadvantages Of Being A Gladiator
What was life as a gladiator? How does it affect humans today? What were the advantages and
disadvantages of being a gladiator? There are so many are so many questions about gladiators that go
unanswered, but now, thanks to archaeologists, we are able to answer those questions. Evidence shows
that being a gladiators had both advantages and disadvantages. A gladiator is an armed fighter who
entertained audiences in the Roman Empire by fighting against other gladiators, wild animals, and
criminals. In late 1st century, Nicolaus of Damascus believed they were Etruscans. A generation later,
the 1st gladiatorial ceremonies were held in 310 BC. It was held by the Campanians in celebration of
their over the Samnites. The Romans were greatly influenced by their predecessors the Etruscans. For
example, the Etruscans always sacrificed an animal before their ceremonies, so the Romans started
doing the same. Gladiators were usually slaves or criminals, but could also be free men. Professionals
gladiators were usually free men, but they were all treated as slaves. Free men still wore shackles and
had to do whatever they were told. Although they were treated as slaves, free men would often be the
most popular amongst the crowd. Criminals and slaves would be set free if they survived 3 5 years as
a gladiator. More than 100 gladiator schools were built throughout the Roman Empire. Gladiators
were sent to school depending on if they were a criminal or not.

Description Of The Barn Cats Essay
Scenario:
It s autumn and, just like any other season, you re hard at work at your barn. Your barn cats are hard at
work, as well, hunting and munching on the overabundant rodent population nesting in your hay. In a
brief moment of rest, you remove your gloves, wincing as the cold air hits your dry, cracked skin. One
of the barn cats also joins you in your reprieve and you reach down to run your hands through her fur.
Briefly, you notice a bit of nasal discharge and some scabs on her paws and face, but you chalk it up to
the weather and get back to work.
A couple of days go by and you begin to notice pus like sores on your hands. They re inflamed and red
and suddenly you re reminded of the barn cat you pet a while back. Deciding to give her a more
thorough once over, you return to the barn on your precious day off to hunt her down. It s easy enough
to find her; she s resting atop a pile of blankets while the other cats are out and about hunting. She
appears thinner than you remember her being and she barely even registers your approach, but you
immediately notice rodent bites on her face and paws that appear infected.
Upon closer inspection, beneath her fur there are multiple crusted wounds, some circular bumps while
others appear to be swollen and flat. The skin is also broken in some places, equally as crusty and
flaking off in places. You know that these are ulcerated nodules and, regardless of an underlying
infection, they need to be treated before they get worse

Killing Animals Is A Normal Way Of Life
For many, killing animals is a normal way of life. After all, animals are here on earth to eat right? I
was raised to think just this way. In my family, we learned to hunt and fish at an early age. We have
even produced a few hogs of our own to butcher. A life without meat seemed insane to the younger
me. As I aged I got involved in 4 H, an agriculture program for kids. Children with the help of their
parents raise and then sell animals such as pigs, chickens, turkeys, goats, rabbit, and cows at their
local fairs. I spent eight years in this program starting at the age of nine. I was a freshman in high

This makes hogs the more efficient choice to produce for our consumption. Now, of course, I have
never eaten a dog. That would go against the American norm, but I definitely make it a point to ask
people why they choose one but not the other. As a senior in high school, I did a research essay on the
treatment of animals in the meat industry. After my findings, I strongly considered becoming a
vegetarian but never made the steps to. It is now two years after I graduated high school and I am
questioning the world more now than ever. I have heard of new studies showing that eating meat is not
just harming innocent animals. It s harming humans and the environment as a whole. Over the past
year, I have been trying to reduce my footprint on this earth. After hearing a few shocking facts, it was
enough to push me to the next step to becoming a vegetarian. Since at the moment I am going off a
few facts, I wanted to dig further and find the truth. I want to know is the meat industry harming our
environment? I am ready to uncover the hidden negativities of this industry and find out if the good
outweighs the bad.
A staggering 80 percent of the deforestation has been caused by agriculture. I have always known that

Indeed, as the campaign of share a Coke aims to creates conversation and attention among the customers, the social media has a direct bearing on the efficiency of the marketing campaign. Brooding rumination is when someone compares themselves to an unachieved standard, and reflective rumination is cogitatively attempting to solve a problem. In a study by Owens and Gibb (2016) they try to address the many questions linking ruminative thought to attentional biases, and specifically look into the interaction between brooding rumination s relationship with attentional biases and state of mood. They also wanted to see if brooding rumination shows this relation in a non depressed sample, and whether it is limited to only brooding rumination, or can it also be observed for reflective rumination as well. • 6. Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself Walt Whitman s Song of Myself helps inspire my body and soul, activates my mind, and encourages individual discovery for the sake of creating a better world for all to live in. It also acts as a form of instruction for becoming an American in ideal and in action. Through his free form verse and tone that reflects more of a wizened and rosy cheeked grandfather than controversial poet, Whitman s writing acts as a refreshing breath to all, including myself, that are searching for an empathetic peace of mind. I celebrate myself, and sing myself,/ And what I assume you shall assume,/ For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you./ , Whitman begins, inviting the reader to a conversation by the fireside, as we are equal in spirit, matter, and creation, which should obviously be celebrated and shared. Whitman provides a view of the world around him in which every action, person, object, and event is held as a miracle. He harkens back to Emersonian ideals of the divine being a part of all, reflecting, I hear and behold God in every object, yet understand God not in the least, and further on, I see something of God each hour of the twenty four, and each moment then . This challenges me to open my mind to a worldview not limited to my own origin or upbringing, but to view the world with a universal love and positive connection. This includes looking onto traditionally repulsive concepts, including body odor, the butcher shedding his clothes, and a prostitute stricken with pox, as signs of the divine. Pages are dedicated to describing the sights he assigns as portions of the song of myself . He, and by extension, me, have a personal connection to the boy that lies awake in the cedar roof d garret and harks to the musical rain , and have just as close a bond to the aforementioned prostitute as her bonnet bobs on her tipsy and pimpled neck . John Paul Jones is as much a part of us as the numberless unknown heroes that have perished without memory. All are equal parts of himself and myself, as every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. Whitman wrote in a manner to educate every person, and more specifically, every American, on how to embrace each moment and forge a path to understand their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symbolism In A Hanging By George Orwell By examining George Orwell s short story, A Hanging, one can see that the symbolism of the unexpected canine, and the symbolic action of stepping around a puddle can illustrate the importance of each individual life. To start off, it is evident in the story that the presence of an animal was not a common occurrence within the walls of the prison. As the narrator observed the prisoner due to be hanged, he saw that he was not much more than a Hindu man approaching death. When I saw the prisoner step aside to avoid the puddle, I saw the mystery, the unspeakable wrongness, of cutting a life short when it is in full tide (Orwell 2). If it were not for the prisoner caring about such a miniscule act, the sensitization towards the prejudice murders being committed would not have occurred as strongly to the narrator. The unspeakable wrongness of cutting a life short when it is in full tide developed his understanding of the wrongdoing behind the negative imperialistic environment that surrounds him. This emphasizes to the reader how a slight reaction that is often dismissed, can symbolize the deeper value of a healthy, conscious man having enough dignity left to avoid such a small mishap like stepping in a ... (Nabokov 132). However, this accusation against Lolita again proves Humbert to be unreliable and his need for control by blaming Lolita for her perilous magic of a nymphet. He also points out that he was not even Lolita s first sexual experience, ultimately, he justifies that he did not possess her sexual innocence. Although, he also reveals Lolita to appear physically inexperienced in which he says, she was not quite prepared for certain discrepancies between a kid s life and mine. (Nabokov 135). Humbert contradicts himself in his use of innocence in the way that Lolita has prior sexual experience, so therefore by his definition, she is no longer innocent; however, he indicates she remains innocent in respect to knowledge and naivety. Humbert alludes to his belief that Lolita is innocent due to her lack of knowledge and understanding during their first sexual encounter in which he suggests she seduced him, She saw the stark act merely as part of a youngster s furtive world, unknown to adults. He explains the growth of railroads, hotels, architecture, shows and creative amusement rides never seen before that stunned the nation.
