I Really Enjoyed Holly Weeks Piece On Stressful Conversations
Intro
I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own experience.
Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress gets high
very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation fail, this is a
thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the reader to
remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also provoking us to
examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with stressful
conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by describing the
processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally.
Know Thyself
Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point in
this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to evolve
without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author provided, in
retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it differently. Holly
Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of emotional situation we
probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good word for it, tactics,
though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a race, these tactics are
ones the subconscious uses to

The Pros And Cons Of Sin In Christianity
Sin is a religious interpretation of the morals of society, claiming immoral things to be a violation of a
higher law; in Christianity s case, God s Law. All religions, since they were first created, have in some
way, discussed sin. Sin is a method of creating the moods and motivations for acting justly in society.
People are encouraged to refrain from doing something because it is a sin. Sin is thought to be
universally understood and believed by all followers of a religion. However, there is debate over
whether sin is truly universal. Sin in Christianity is widely interpreted with many different views on
what is sinful. Within Christianity, acts deemed as sinful vary depending on denominations, societal
standards, and the situation in which it happens.
Across Christianity there is variation about what is considered sinful. Different denominations
interpret and teach the Bible in different ways. One example is homosexuality. Some Christian
denominations consider homosexuality to be a sin while others do not. The Primitive Baptist
denomination, which includes the Westboro Baptist Church, is intensely conservative when it comes
to viewing homosexuality as a sin . The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is one of the more
welcoming Christian denominations to the LGBTQ community, who celebrate same sex marriages, so
therefore do not view homosexuality as a sin . There are many other denominations who fall between
declaring homosexuality as sinful and not. Calvin College,

Turkey s Accession to the European Union
Relations between Turkey and European integration institutions began with Turkey s application for
associate membership in the European Economic Community(EEC) in 1959. Turkey applied for full
membership in the EEC in 1987 but did not gain candidate status until 1999. Since 1999, relations
between Turkey and the European Union (EU) have gained momentum, and Turkey s EU accession
negotiations began in 2005. Since that time, discussions about the implications of Turkey s
prospective EU membership have become more serious and extensive in both Turkey and the EU.the

EU membership has been regarded as one of the significant tools for achieving this goal in Turkey. In
this context, Turkey has given great importance to its relations with EU integration institutions. The
long history of relations starting with the signing of the Ankara Agreement on 12 September 1963
between Turkey and the European Economic Community (EEC) is an evident indication of this
importance. Turkey, one of the founding members of the United Nations and the Organisation for
Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and a member of NATO since 1952, showed its
willingness to continue to increase its role in the different areas of Western policy. With the signing of
the Ankara Agreement, trade began to be liberalized, followed by the completion of the Customs
Union by the end of 1995. since the signing of Ankara Agreement, there have been ups and downs in
the relations between Turkey and EU integration institutions. Turkey applied for full membership in
the EEC in 1987. In 1990, the European Council endorsed the Commission opinion underlining
Turkey s eligibility for membership, but deferred the assessment of this application until the
emergence of a more favourable environment. Additionally, despite the advanced relations and
economic integration between Turkey and the EU, Turkey was not characterized as a candidate
country at the Luxembourg Summit in 1997.These developments alienated Turkey and adversely

Documents Summary What was its influence on the Constitution?
Magna Carta Magna Carta, or The Great Charter , was issued by King John of England as an answer
to the political crisis he faced in 1215, Magna Carta made it so that by principle that everybody, even
the king, was subject to the law. The Magna Carta influenced the Constitution in a variety of ways.
The basis of the Bill of Rights can be seen in the document demanding that authority respect certain

What were his views on governmental structure?
Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin is one of the more important figures in American history. He
was one of the Founding Fathers and was also the oldest person to sign the Declaration of
Independence. He is also known as the Father of Electricity because of his many experiments with
electricity as well as his other inventions which include: the lightning rod and the stove. Franklin was
for small government, and little government intervention into our daily lives. He played a key role in
urging compromise, most notably over the issue of representation. He had originally urged for a
unicameral legislature.
Alexander Hamilton Alexander Hamilton is also one of the Founding Fathers with major significance.
He was the leader of the Federalist party. He established a national bank, and he was the first
Secretary of the Treasury. Hamilton set the foundation for the financial system in this country. The
best way to describe Hamilton s views on the government is to say that they were the opposite of
Thomas Jefferson s. Hamilton favored a strong central or national government and favored a tariff
system that would help manufacturers who were both northern and urban. Hamilton s views were

Nixon And The Watergate Scandal
Patriotism means to stand by the country not by the president. Though everyone agrees that Colson
will be sent to jail if he caught they disagree whether he should have worked for Nixon in the
Watergate scandal. Colson was offered a position to help Nixon with special interactions such as
getting rid of the men who released Pentagon Papers and help Nixon win the 2nd election. Charles
Colson should not have agreed to work for Nixon with the Watergate scandal for three reasons. He has
a family he would lose, there would be punishment, and he would jeopardize national security.
The first reason Charles Colson should not have agreed to work for Nixon with the Watergate scandal
is because Colson would lose his family. He would be removed

to want to complete the tasks. However, the way he conducts stealing money from Initech, shows
some of his skills as being a leader. A character who would not be seen as a leader in any sort of way
is Milton. Throughout the entire film is voice is never project in a way that a leader should do. It is
more muffled and quiet. Also, he truly never is given any kind of leadership role in the film. He also

Sean Taylor Hall Of Fame Nominee
Sean Taylor Hall of Fame Nominee
Have you ever heard of a Hall of Fame player only playing three seasons? Well Sean Taylor is one of
the greatest and most athletic to ever play the game of football. He was on his way to another great
season and another pro bowl experience. But November 27, two days after his loss against the
buccaneers he was shot in his home. Trying to protect his girlfriend and daughter from intruders.
Sean Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame because of his achievements. In high school Taylor was a
track star. He won state in the 110 hurdles (The Legacy of No. 21). That is one of the reasons why he
was so fast and nobody could block him. That s also why he was an All American career at the

The Beat Movement And Kerouac s On The Road
The beat movement is expressed the social and literary nonconformity of artists, poets, and writers.
The word beat originally meant weary but came to refer as well to a musical beat. Followers of this
movement, called beats or beatniks, lived nonconformist lives. They tended to shun regular work and
sought a higher consciousness through Zen Buddhism, music, and, sometimes, drugs. Works that
capture the essence of this era include Allen Ginsberg s long, free verse poem, Howl, published in
1956, and Jack Kerouac s novel of the movement, On the Road, published in 1957.
Alan Freed s listeners responded enthusiastically, and Freed began promoting the new music that grew
out of rhythm and blues and country and pop. He called the music rock n roll. In the early and mid
1950s, Richard Penniman, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley and His Comets, and especially Elvis Presley
brought rock n roll to a frantic pitch of popularity among the newly affluent teens who bought their
records. Elvis Presley, the unofficial King of Rock n Roll, first developed his musical style by singing
in church and listening to gospel, country, and blues music on the radio in Memphis, Tennessee. Not
surprisingly, many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One proposed solution to the housing problem in inner cities was urban renewal. The National
Housing Act of 1949 was passed to provide a decent home and a suitable living environment for every
American family. This act called for tearing down rundown neighborhoods and constructing low
income housing. Later, the nation s leaders would create a new cabinet position, Housing and Urban
Development (HUD), to aid in improving conditions in the inner city. Although dilapidated areas were
razed, parking lots, shopping centers, highways, parks, and factories were constructed on some of the
cleared land, and there was seldom enough new housing built to accommodate all the displaced

Humans Have Found Many Different Ways To Communicate...
Humans have found many different ways to communicate throughout time. In the early days of
civilization humans would use hand signals and drawings to communicate with others. As civilization
progressed, so did the methods of communication. This is evident by the number of languages that are
used on planet earth. According to the website infoplease.com there are around 6,500 different
languages spoken in the world. This is simply astounding the number of different languages spoken.
However, speaking is not the only way humans communicate. Humans even sometimes communicate
without even knowing. A prime example of this is body language which some could argue is used
every day, by just about everyone on the planet. With this said there is one ... Show more content on

The main strength of the Uncertainty Reduction Theory is the simple fact that the theory has been
used and applied for nearly four decades. It is mainly used to gain insight into interpersonal
relationships. In the very beginning of a relationship the Uncertainty Reduction Theory can give
critical incite, however this is also one of the theories weaknesses. Once the relationship is past the
initial interaction, the first time the stranger s meat, the Uncertainty Reduction Theory can no longer
provide insight into the relationship. A second weakness of the Uncertainty Reduction Theory is the
fact that the theory was meanly developed and designed the western culture. However, there are more
and more studies that are beginning to apply the Uncertainty Reduction Theory and look further into
its practical uses outside of western culture. Here is an example of one such study:
A model of uncertainty reduction theory was tested that was derived from Berger and Calabrese s
(1975) theory of initial interactions and recent extensions of the theory (e.g., Berger, 1979; Berger
Bradac, 1982) across three relationships (acquaintances, friends, and dates) in three cultures: Japan,
Korea, and the United States. The model was tested using LISREL and found to be a reasonable fit to
the data for all three relationships in all three cultures. The percentage of variance explained in
attributional confidence was found to be lower for friends than for

The Negative Effects Of Social Media
Peter Drucker is best known for being the Father of Modern Management, as well as being the author
of several books and articles about innovation, entrepreneurship and strategies for dealing with the
world. Drucker once said, The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn t said
(Drucker). Social Media has an had enormous effect on the world today. Everyday people are posting
cruel comments and inappropriate posts about others without thinking about the effect it can have on
that person. Although these sites provide us with easier ways of connecting with the world, they also
have a negative impact on how people can view themselves. Social media sites such as, Facebook,
Twitter, and Instagram cause negativity all over the world today.
Facebook was created on February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, a nineteen year old Harvard
University student. When creating the site, Zuckerberg only allowed Harvard students to create an
account, but overtime he made it available to other colleges around the world. Social media can affect
a person s life in a negative way, and comes to the point where it begins to hurt other s. When

Social Loafing Essay examples
What is Social Loafing? Social Loafing is something everyone has experienced. Most likely if you do
not like group work this is one of the main reasons why. Social loading describes the tendency of
individuals to put forth less effort when they are part of a group. Because all members of the group are
pooling their effort to achieve a common goal each member of the group contributes less than they
would if they were individually responsible (Cherry). This challenges the common belief that group
work will be more productive. In 1913 a researcher named Ringelmann designed an experiment
involving rope pulling to test the effect of social loafing. His experiment found that when an
individual was put in a group his or her effort was less. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having tasks that are too difficult or are unfamiliar are likely to incite social loafing because they
group member lacks the ability or courage to provide input. Robbins and Judge (2011) theorize that
another cause of social loafing is an uneven equity. When two people are putting in different levels of
input and receiving the same level of output the larger contributor will adjust their input to reduce
cognitive dissonance. Another reason they believe is dispersion of responsibility group members
cannot be held responsible because tasks and roles are not clearly assigned. (Robbins Judge, 2011). In
research by Worchel and others (1998) it was found that groups with friends or familiar members are
far less likely to loaf when compared with groups made up of strangers (Worchel, Rothgerber, Day,
Hart, Butemeyer, 1998) Most people have been in a group made up of friends and colleges they are
familiar with and seen that in these types of groups social loafing is drastically reduced.
Gender and Cultural Difference Karau and Williams explain there are several outlying factors that
affect social loafing such as, gender, culture, and individual/collective rating. Women are less likely
than men to social loaf because of the higher importance placed on being part of or fitting in a group
while men usually place more value on individual performance. In a study of Japanese people about
20% of men and 60% of women did not social loaf (Kugihara, 1999)

How Did Catholics Pose A Significant Threat In England
There is much historical debate as to whether Catholics posed a significant threat in England. Duffy
has found through the study of wills that Catholic views were still seen in a large section of the
population. However, Doran suggests that long and relentless government persecutions forced many
Catholics from their faith. This would indicate that there is uncertainty as to the Catholic threat
domestically and Murphy would certainly argue that due to the increasingly hostile situation in Europe
that the bigger Catholic threat came from abroad. When the Elizabethan Church Settlement was
created Elizabeth attempted to return religious policy to the way it had been at the end of Henry VIII s
reign; there is also an indication the settlement was driven by a need for political expediency.
Elizabeth herself is seen by historians such as C Haigh as a sincere and committed protestant due to
her upbringing; however, she recognised that a large population of England was still Catholic ... Show

In 1580 s both the Throckmorton Plot, a planned invasion of England from Scotland and the

of the Spanish Armada, which Philip of Spain viewed as a crusade and thought would lead to a full
Roman Catholic restoration. However all of these plots were unsuccessful and many historians would
argue that this was because there was no appetite from English Catholics for an invasion from abroad.
Also, many Catholics saw Elizabeth as the rightful Queen and many of these plots were regarded with
horror or distaste by most of the English Catholic laity whose religious differences with the Queen did

Disenfranchisement in Haiti Essay
Often time disenfranchisement is shown in various places throughout the world. Although saddening,
people face tragedies that cause them to lose things most important to them every day. For example,
when the earthquake in Haiti struck, the people of Haiti lost everything they considered valuable.
Having faced many obstacles, Haitian people dealt with the disenfranchisement of their pride and their
possessions; there are endless amounts of literature that reference to the tragedies that occurred in
Haiti and how these mishaps have affected the life that they are having to live.
Haiti is one of the more indigent countries in the world; the country also holds a low economic status.
Over time Haiti s economy grew gradually at around 2.3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earthquake of 2010 altered the way the people of Haiti looked at everyday life, as well as, it
caused them to be deprived of all hope on creating a new beginning. On Tuesday January 12, 2010,
the Haitian society knew that their world would never be the same. Having killed over 300,000 people
and wounded more than 200,000 people, the magnitude 7.0 earthquake was demoralizing to the
Haitians ( The 2010 Haiti Earthquake ). To make matters worse, following the magnitude 7.0
earthquake there were twelve aftershocks containing a magnitude larger than 5.0 ( Earthquake in Haiti
). The outcome of the earthquake was devastating to the extent that the minority of people who
survived stood on the remains of their churches, grocery stores, and even their own homes.
Corporations like Merlin USA and others around the globe are contributing in various ways to help try
to rebuild Haiti s nation. Working to repair Haiti s demolished society, Merlin tries to bring
appropriate health care to all susceptible associations in Haiti ( Haiti ). Strongly, Merlin continues to
put in a great effort and they have tended to around 47,986 patients merely in Port au Prince ( Haiti ).
Sorrowfully, people are constantly dying from Cholera in Haiti; nevertheless, it seems to them that
nothing the world can offer will be able to cure the adversity they have encountered. The

PLN Reflection
When looking at the scope of my personal learning network (PLN) I am realizing that it is much larger
than I initially thought, however I do feel it could and will grow exponentially as I advance in my
career. Currently, at the core of my PLN would be my 2nd grade teaching team that I work alongside
daily. This is comprised of 4 other teachers; one an intervention specialist, and other generalist
teachers in 2nd grade. To expand this, our current building hosts Kindergarten 5th grade, with at least
4 teachers in each grade level. I would also consider all of these teachers, as well as support staff to be
a part of my direct PLN. I attend meetings, professional development and training with these

few websites for professional learning and networking. The first would be Pinterest. I typically search
Pinterest for classroom ideas, but also use this website on a personal level. In conjunction with
Pinterest, I use the website TeachersPayTeachers to purchase lesson ideas and resources. The reason I
feel that this website should be added to my PLN, is because all of the sellers on TeachersPayTeachers

TeachersPayTeachers, and teaching blogs into one cohort, because typically searching through one of
these mediums will lead me to another. Another online resource I use professionally would be

The Future Farmers Of Society
Future Farmers of Society Have you ever thought or asked yourself, do you want to eat? Do you want
to grow your own food while working another job? The faction, Dukes, as the future farmers of
society do these things in our faction. After the Ebola virus hit the air our faction (Dukes) decided to
be the caring and the giving ones. The responsibilities for the society, are to take care of animals, grow
food and herbs, and hunt for food. In doing so, by us fulfilling our responsibilities, people will have
food and good health. However, we are going to need some people to join our faction, because a small
group of people cannot take care of all these responsibilities on their own forever. Trey, Harris, Tyler,

Our presentation was very clear and straight to the point. Harris, not only held poster in the middle
and introduced our faction, but also introduced the tractor symbol. He explained all the duties of that
one symbol and the job positions within that certain section of the faction. Next, Trey picked up where
Harris left off and introduced the true meaning of the plant symbol, after giving the meaning of the
plant symbol; he described the jobs and duties of the symbol. Then, I spoke about the cow symbol and
the true meanings, duties and job positions within that section. Lastly, Tyler concluded by talking
about his favorite section within the faction, which is the bow arrow. He explained in detail what the
bow arrow section stood for, and the very many duties preformed and job positions of that section.
Our presentation was something like an outside to inside presentation, because we had a centerpiece in
the poster with subdivisions surrounding the centerpiece. Tyler was the person within our faction that
described our centerpiece and released our true meaning behind the centerpiece. We set our poster up
with a center piece and symbols supporting the meaning of it, so we could make our presentation an

audience.
The main argument for our presentation was that if you want to be a person that cares about the

Exploitation Of Whales And Fish After The 1920s
The exploitation of whales and fish after 1920 was massive and without control. The Discovery

Noah s Unified Language
The descendents of Noah had one unified language, with few words so as to be easily understood by
all. As one they went east, and finding a land which they called Shinar, they settled in the land and
agreed to begin building a city from good bricks and mortar, made of the clay of the land and bitumen
respectively. This city they said would have a tower with its top in the heavens, and by it they would
make a name for themselves, in the case that they be divided across the earth. The Lord came down
and saw their progress, observing their unity and power, and saw that they were able to do anything
within their imagination. Because of this God, confused their languages and scattered them across the

The garden he creates, Eden, is made specifically for Adam with the tree of life as well as the Tree of
the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God tells Adam that he may eat of any tree in the garden apart from
the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This gives Adam a choice to continue being in union
with God, or to oust himself from God s presence by disobeying God and eating the fruit. God then
makes Eve to be a companion of man, named by Adam, therefore imposing his dominion over her.
When Eve gives Adam the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, he is accepting the
removal of the garden, not deliberately but because of his inability to resist the temptation. The return
to chaos follows the expulsion from the garden; for you out of it [dust] you were taken; and to dust

Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry s Speech
Paragraph One
In the beginning of the speech, Henry uses a cautious but also assertive tone.
In delivering this speech, Henry intended to highlight the problems caused by Britain, and convince
the American people to fight back against British rule.
Phrases such as the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings and nothing less then a
question of freedom or slavery showcase usage of antithesis in the speech.
Henry is appealing to the patriotism and emotions of his audience by mentioning things such as a
question of freedom or slavery , the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country , and
the very worth gentlemen who have just addressed the House .
By comparing the majesty of heaven to earthly kings , Henry is appealing to ethos, or the audience s
concept of ethics.
The phrase freely, and without reserve is an example of parallelism. References to God are an example
of allusion, as most of Henry s audience practiced Christianity. Paragraph Two
The purpose of this section of the talk is to show people s desire to ignore the truth about the state of
their country, and to warn against doing so.
Henry is trying to show how one s default or natural response to the hardships they were facing at the
hands of British rule might be to turn their head the other way.
Henry s reference to Ezekiel 12:2 ( having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not ) was a way to
draw attention to injustices that he saw among the American people. Because most

The Btk Killer By Dennis Lynn Rader
Dennis Lynn Rader was born on March 9, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Kansas. His mother, Dorothea Mae
Cook, and father, William Elvin Rader, had three sons in addition to Dennis. In 1975, he married Paula
Dietz, and they had one son and one daughter. Throughout his childhood, Dennis displayed signs of
what he would become later in life. In reports, as well as his own confession, he tortured animals and
had a fetish with women s underwear. Dennis, also known as the BTK killer, had at least ten victims
throughout his life. He became known as the BTK killer because of his modus operandi: bind, torture,
kill. Dennis worked alone, and all of his murders occurred in and around Wichita, Kansas (Blanco).

who was shot and managed to survive, if he had seen him at the university. Rader was neighbors with
one of his victims. He sent trophies to police along with his letters. Rader had many different jobs

Primase Research Paper
Multiple enzymes work together to help your DNA duplicate. Helicase, one of these enzymes used to
help replicate DNA, uses energy from the ATP to break apart the hydrogen bonds holding the bases
together. This allows for the two parental strands of DNA to unwind and form two replication forks.
Primase, also an enzyme used in DNA replication, copies a DNA parental strand by making an RNA
strand complementary to it. Primase is only active when another protein is present. There are two
DNA polymerases: DNA polymerase III and DNA polymerase I. DNA polymerase III catalyzes the
chemical reactions for polymerization of nucleotides. DNA polymerase I is involved in removing
RNA after replication. If DNA polymerase makes a mistake during synthesis,

Listening About Electronic Health Records
The purpose of this paper is to talk about Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Throughout the paper, I
will state the EHR mandate, who started it and when, its goals and objectives. I will explain how is the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) connected to the EHR. Furthermore, I will describe my facility s plan and
meaningful use. Finally, I will define Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
laws and what is being done by my facility to prevent HIPAA violation.
Description of the Electronic Health Record
EHRs are computerized versions of patient s paper charts. EHRs makes the health information about
the patient accessible anywhere at any time. EHR holds the pertinent information about a patient s
medical history, medications, immunization record, allergies, radiology and other diagnostic images,
and lab results (Health Information Technology (Health IT), 2013). EHR makes patient care safer by
bringing together all health records from previous and current doctors, as well as pharmacies and
different diagnostic facilities.
In 2004, President George W. Bush issued an order for implementation of EHR in hope to help
improve the quality and effectiveness of health care in the United States (United States (U.S.)
Department of Health Human Services, 2008). The Office of National Coordinator (ONC) for Health
IT established Strategic Plan to establish coordinated transition for all Americans to have access to
EHR by 2014.

major parts of the games that players engage. There is a fundamental concept that tends to miss out
when parents are purchasing video games for their children. The majority of them do not differentiate
games meant for adult consumption and the games created for children and teenage content. There
needs to be a strong campaign to make the parents aware of proper choice of video games that suits
the age of the players. The organization can also work on coming up with games that allow parental
control by allowing parents to block some of the scenes that they consider inappropriate for the

Some other companies dealing with production and selling of video games have opted to forward
customer calls to other video game specialists and developers to answer their questions in an attempt
to avoid the problem of giving conflicting statements to the customers. However, this approach is not
suitable for our business because it is our culture to ensure that customer satisfaction is always the top

The Criminal Justice System ( Nics )
Introduction
The Criminal Justice System (CJS) is one of the major public services in the United Kingdom. There
are six core agencies complemented by a number of voluntary groups. Gibson and Cavadino (2008,
p9) suggest that the Criminal Justice System encompasses all the procedures and practices that flow
from detection and apprehension of offenders right through to the rehabilitation of offenders . The
Criminal Justice System is a process through which various agencies work together to ensure that
people who commit crimes are brought to justice; it exists to protect the public by reducing crime.
One of the most integral components of the CJS is that of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) who
are responsible for prosecuting criminal cases investigated by the police. They act independently with
the role of prosecuting cases firmly, fairly and effectively when there is enough evidence with a
realistic prospect of conviction (CPS, n.d). This component of the CJS has not been without its
problems of controversy but has improved to become the agency that it was intended to be over time.
This report aims to describe and summarise the role and importance of the Crown Prosecution Service
within the Criminal Justice System. Reference to other agencies including the work of the Police, the

Explaining Fast Fashion
How fast fashion is affecting the environment is a very serious topic since this type of consumerism in
the United States is heavy on supply and demand, and because of that shoppers want it all and want it
now which is basically fast fashions motto. The way to make these pieces of clothing heavily rely on
cheap materials that can be made quickly, so that is polyester and cotton being made in big factories
that emit out toxins into our earth. Cotton being one of the most used fabrics takes a lot to be made
into a single garment. Uzbekistan which is the 6th biggest producer of cotton had faced many conflicts
during production since cotton uses so much water to be made it has dried up the 4th largest lake the
Aral Sea because of how much we need to produce cotton fashion. (Prospectjournalucsd) Buying
these cheap garments that become unwearable after 5 times (Forbes) of wearing it usually gets thrown
out after and producing more waste that gets put into our waterways since theses garments shed easy
and through washing them can find their way into oceans and on the shores everywhere. (Sweeny) So
with the help of shoppers, being able to cut down on the purchase of fast fashion can help aid in
keeping the ecosystem in order.
Benefits of Not Buying Fast Fashion
A benefit of not buying fast fashion would be becoming more aware of what how shoppers affect the

A pidgin language creates a way of communication among groups of people who lack a common

created from the plantation workers and eventually had kids and raised them on speaking pidgin, now
they speak Creole.
Papua New Guinea has hundreds of local languages, about 800, but chooses to use Tok Pisin in

The purpose of this paper is to show that the regulatory capture has played a role not easily
measurable in causing the global financial crisis. To illustrate this, the first step will to describe the
regulatory capture in its three possible qualifications; then, I will explain, providing some examples,
how each of these categories played a possible role in posing the basis for the financial crisis. While
illustrating the different forms of capture I will present some questions that leave space to different
answers. Finally, I will conclude that the regulatory capture have surely played a role in generating the
crisis, but it is not possible to evaluate the effective role it had in causing it.

For instance, the increased importance of networks and the rise of highly systemic banks created a
system in which the banks became, on one side, too big to fail, and, on the other, too big to save.
Indeed, the lesson from Lehman Brothers Chapter 11 is that letting go bankrupt a systemic player
(even not one of the largest) might bring about unknown undesirable effects. The policy makers are,
therefore, definitely captured because banking sector is architecture in such a way that constrains the
policy makers to go through a bail out in case of a relevant financial distress. So which are the
consequences of this behaviour? The outcomes are double: the ex ante banks possibility to engage
moral hazard behaviour and the ex post debt burden on the tax payers. This creates an incentive for the
banks to take more risks due to the implicit protection of the government, that rely on the tax payers to
pay for the bailouts, creating a substantial problem of fairness and social equity, in which low income
class has to pay for the top income class errors. Another example of this theory is the state dependence
on taxes generated by the financial sector. For instance, in the UK the financial sector s gross value
added (GVA) rose over the last decade, but has declined since 2009. Its contribution to UK jobs is
around 3.6%. Trade in financial services makes up a substantial proportion of the UK s trade surplus
in services. Estimates of the sector s contribution to Government tax

Nuclear War Research Paper
Instate violence has decreased in recent decades when it comes to nuclear war, but small arms war is
still wide spread. More wars have had the use of guns than the use of nuclear weapons. More people
have been killed in wars because of guns than because of nuclear weapons. However, more people can
be killed in an instant by nuclear weapons whereas when you use a gun, more people can be killed in a
span of a few months. It is also easier and cheaper to get a gun than it is to make and use a nuclear
weapon. Terrorists are scary with a gun or a box cutter, but imagining ISIS or Al Qaeda with a nuclear
weapon would cause the utmost terror across America.
Liberalists and their conflicts are driven by issues like scarcity and survivability. An example would
be Hugo Chavez s regime in Venezuela. They fight over access to resources or control of the
government. Realists believe that you cannot trust anyone in an anarchic society. Problems with
realistic theory lay on factors of offensive and defensive advantage and the ability to tell the difference
between those two. Some examples would be WWI and the use of the machine gun and how no one

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Essay
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
The carpal tunnel is a passageway that runs from the forearm through the wrist. Bones form three
walls of the tunnel and a strong, broad ligament bridges over them. The median nerve, which supplies
feeling to the thumb, index (4th digit), and ring fingers (3rd digit), and the nine tendons that flex the
fingers, passes through this tunnel. This nerve, also, provides function for the muscles at the base of
the thumb (the Thenar muscles). Usually, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is considered an
inflammatory disorder caused by repetitive stress, physical injury, or medical conditions that cause the
tissues around the median nerve to become swollen. The protective lining of the tendons within the

Such conditions are known contributors to CTS. It is most likely that many cases of CTS occur from a
combination of factors, including a predisposing medical condition exacerbated by work stress and
psychological and social stressers. In many patients with CTS, an underlying cause for the disorder
cannot be discovered. Disorders related to work that requires repetitive motion are increasing. They
account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is estimated to account for over
41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined six key risk factors in the
workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1) repetition, (2) high force, (3)
awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6) prolonged constrained posture.
Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that incorrect posture may play a large role in
the development of CTS, particularly in people who work at computer and other types of keyboards.
The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can
shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing nerves in the neck. This can affect the wrist,
fingers, and hand. It has been difficult to obtain reliable data on the relation between repetitive hand
and wrist tasks and CTS. Studies indicate that

prepare for a non nuclear war and wanted to avoid a nuclear exchange. In his own words, Now in the
thermonuclear age any misjudgements on either side about the intentions of the other could rain more

October of 1962, nuclear missiles were discovered in Cuba, as supplied by Russia. This, following the

Navy to quarantine Cuba, turning away any ships carrying missiles. For some days a handful of men,
operating largely in secret, held our destinies in their hands (Alsop 2). Thankfully, the nuclear war of

In another study by the same author, compared a historical control group with MALDI TOF MS
coupled with antimicrobial stewardship and showed mortality benefits (21% vs 8.9%; p = 0.01)19.
The later study overcame some of the limitations of the previous study and included only patients with
antibiotic resistance gram negative bacteremia with sufficient sample size. Selecting the most
appropriate and cost effective rapid diagnostic testing is somehow challenging given the wide range of
commercially available diagnostic tools. Some of these tools require labor intensive clinical
laboratories work with high complexity10. For gram negative bacteremia, two tools have potential
clinical benefits, Verigene gram negative blood culture (BC GN) and FilmArray blood culture
identification (BCID) given their ability to detect resistance patterns in certain microorganisms and
have a short turnaround time after a positive blood culture. A study by MacVane S et al. examined the
usefulness of antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASP) coupled with BCID versus conventional
organism identification coupled with ASP or conventional organism identification (controls) alone20.
Although microorganism identification was shorter in the BCID group (17 hours vs 54 to 57 hours; p

Disadvantages Of Mixed Economic System
INTRODUCTION
The problem of scarcity is one common to all economies regardless of its wealth. This requires
choices to realistically be made, as determined by the country s economic system. The economic
system basically refers to the allocative mechanism by which the people, businesses and government
of a country make choices. Economists have recognized three distinct types of economic system the
capitalist economy, the socialist economy and the mixed economy (Bamford Grant 2010).
In a capitalist economy, households and firms usually decide the allocation of resources. They interact
as buyers and sellers in the market for goods and services. Prices and the operation of the price system
underpin this interaction; in turn, prices act to indicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this time, the British government was responsible for substantial areas of public expenditure such
as health care and education, the direct operation of nationalized industries such as coal and gas, as
well as for providing support for large areas of manufacturing, such as vehicle production, in
partnership with the private sector (Bamford Grant 2010), while most decisions such as daily
purchases are left for the public to make themselves. Some of the advantages of the mixed economy
system include the fact that the government provides the essential services while encouraging the
private sectors to continue building profits. The competition that arises from the private sector keeps
prices low, ultimately benefiting the consumers and influencing their choices. Inefficient business
behavior can also be controlled through the implementation of this system, minimizing the damage.
On the contrary, its disadvantages are that the heavy taxes incurred reduce incentives provided for the
public in the private sector to work hard and make profits. The government is also less efficient than
the private sector; hence the essential services provided will not have the best quality. An excessive
control over business activity via taxes incurred can also add to a firm s costs and discourage

The data is not accessible to the outside world and only those functions which are wrapped in the class
can access it. The insulation of the data from direct access by the program is called data hiding or
information hiding.
Data Abstraction:
Abstraction refers to the act of representing essential features without including the background details
or explanations. Classes use the concept of abstraction and are defined as a list of abstract attributes
such as size, weight and cost, and functions to operate on these attributes. Since the classes use the
concept of data abstraction, they are known as Abstract Data Types.
c) During analysis, you try to determine which objects you need and how to organise them. You also
need to know what they have to contain, how they behave and how they interact with other objects.
During design, you take the analyzed objects and add constraints to make them fit within the software
and hardware that you are developing for. Basically, you re adjusting the object model to fit within the

Other retailers have like products and same brands in their stores. Also, its prices are relatively high
compared with some supermarkets and online stores. 4.3 Opportunities Nowadays, cameras are
popular among the young generation. Moreover, government emphasises on the growth of private
sector, which enhances Jessops s competition. A recent industry research report from IBISWorld
argues that the expansion of advertising and fashion markets will stimulate domestic demand for
photography services in the next five years (PRWEB, 2011). These provide opportunities for Jessops
to expand its market share. 4.4 Threat However, there is much challenge for Jessops. * Changing
market: Firstly, traditional film printing is declining in the UK. Secondly, market prices of products
and services are going down instantly due to the popularity of online shopping. New technology is
also a shock in that more and more mobile phones are now fitted with cameras with high definition.
This can reduce demand for cameras. * Economic recession: As a result of the economic recession,
unemployment has been rising and consumers have less disposable income and thus spend less on
luxury goods. This is a direct impact on Jessops a £12 million loss was made in the 15 months by

Questions On Properties Of Soils
2.3 Results and discussion
2.3.1 Physicochemical properties of soils
Soil properties are shown in Table 2.1. These soils had a loamy texture with different contents of clay,
sand and silt. pH values ranged from 4.45 to 7.73. TC was in the range of 1.6 to 8.37 % without
significant amounts of TN and TS detected. TOC varied between 1.48 and 8.37% whilst DOC showed
a wide range from 106 to 400 mg kg 1. CEC values ranged from 2.9 to 17.9 cmol kg 1. Concentrations
of Fe oxide, Al oxide, and Mn oxide were 0.28 12.49 g kg 1, 0.5 12.6 g kg 1 and 0.0252 0.302 g kg 1,
respectively. Total concentrations of As and Cd in control and spiked soil after one year aging were
listed in Table S1 (Appendix 2). The difference between the spiked concentrations and measured ones
may be due to the particle size (spiked soils were sieved to 250 μm particle size was used for all
measurements.
2.3.3 Relationships between the bioaccessibility, total concentrations and selected soil properties
Strong linear relationships between bioaccessible As/Cd (both gastric and intestinal phases) and total
As/Cd in soils were observed with R2 varying between 0.72 and 0.98 (Figure 2.1). Therefore, within
the spiked concentrations of As and Cd in this study, the soluble As and Cd during UBM extraction
increased proportionally along with total concentrations in soils. Relations in gastric phase was
stronger than that in intestinal phase probably due to the high solubility of both As and Cd in the
gastric phase. These

Similarities Between Beauty And The Beast And Shrek
As children most of the fairy tales we were told about always involved a beautiful princess, a prince
charming and a happily ever after . Among those are Snow White and Cinderella, who are both
mistreated by their evil stepmothers, go through difficulties but at the end they find happiness. Almost
all these fairy tales emphasize the beauty of the female and male protagonists. They also mostly end in
the princess falling in love with the prince, often after the first kiss. For many of us in the real world,
this would be the ideal way to fall in love with someone and quite a dream come true. However, there
s one fairy tale that gives a different message on what true love is. In the story Beauty and the Beast
and the movie Shrek, Beauty and Shrek fall in love with people who are their complete opposites, not
by the way they look but the way they are. The ending to both stories bring surprises as they both find
out that they re not so different after all. The transformation of Princess Fiona into an ogress and the
Beast into a human is not necessary to show a happy ending. In Beauty and the Beast, Beauty is noble
and sweet. She is forced to live with a beast in his castle. At first she s scared but as the day passes,
she begins to enjoy his company. She visits her father and one night, she dreams that the Beast is
dying. She runs back to the castle and pleads for him not to die. As she hugs him, she agrees to marry
him, something he had asked her long before but she had refused. As she mutters these words and to
her surprise, the Beast transforms into a handsome prince. Shrek is a green ogre who enjoys solitude
and keeping to himself. He doesn t have any friends and lives in a swamp. After the ruler of Duloc,
Lord Farquaad, sends all the fairy tales to invade Shrek s swamp, he sets out on a journey to find him
and get everyone out of his home. He s accompanied by his soon to become sidekick, Donkey, the
only one to know the way to Duloc. Lord Farquaad in order to become a king needs to marry a
princess. He chooses Princess Fiona, who s locked away in a tower guarded by a dragon. Lord
Farquaad agrees to give Shrek his swamp with the condition that he brings Princess Fiona to him.
Once again, Shrek and Donkey,

Rush. In this essay, it is going to discuss the development of the Gold Rush, who has been
discrimination and how they has been discrimination during that period. The discovery and
development of the Gold Rush The Gold Rush is considered as one of the most significant events in
the American history. It began after James Marshall discovered gold form the Sutter s mill in Coloma,
California on January 24, 1948. Though James and Sutter tired to keep this news as secret, there was
one newspaper reported it. As the news spread so fast across the country and around the world that
attracted hundreds of thousands of gold seekers from different areas came to California. Moreover, in

Evaluation Plan For Rapid Application Development
1.0 Development Approaches 1.1 Rapid Application Development Rapid application development is
an approach that is designed to develop software and systems in which changes are expected to be
made throughout the lifecycle of the approach. The RAD approach uses less time on planning and
emphasizes more resources on an interactive process in rapid prototyping. The RAD methodology
consists of four phases analysis, design, construction and implementation. The four phases are
processed through a chain of short bursts of interactive development cycles according to James Martin
RAD Methodology (Martin, 1991). Requirements planning phase Integrates all the aspects of system
analysis and system planning. Stakeholders within the project team establishes a mutual agreement on
the business objectives, project scope and requirements. Design phase In the design phase, the users
works closely with the system analyst to develop models and prototypes that define the systems
processes and functions. The development of the user design is an ongoing process that enables the
users to make changes to the model until the final product is functional and meets the requirements of
the project. Construction phase During the construction phase, it emphases more on the software
development, users contribute ideas to make improvements in the code of the program and further
changes may be implemented into the system. Implementation phase In final stage of the lifecycle,
data is converted and system

  • 2. I Really Enjoyed Holly Weeks Piece On Stressful Conversations Intro I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own experience. Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress gets high very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation fail, this is a thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the reader to remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also provoking us to examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with stressful conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by describing the processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally. Know Thyself Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point in this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to evolve without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author provided, in retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it differently. Holly Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of emotional situation we probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good word for it, tactics, though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a race, these tactics are ones the subconscious uses to ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Sin In Christianity Sin is a religious interpretation of the morals of society, claiming immoral things to be a violation of a higher law; in Christianity s case, God s Law. All religions, since they were first created, have in some way, discussed sin. Sin is a method of creating the moods and motivations for acting justly in society. People are encouraged to refrain from doing something because it is a sin. Sin is thought to be universally understood and believed by all followers of a religion. However, there is debate over whether sin is truly universal. Sin in Christianity is widely interpreted with many different views on what is sinful. Within Christianity, acts deemed as sinful vary depending on denominations, societal standards, and the situation in which it happens. Across Christianity there is variation about what is considered sinful. Different denominations interpret and teach the Bible in different ways. One example is homosexuality. Some Christian denominations consider homosexuality to be a sin while others do not. The Primitive Baptist denomination, which includes the Westboro Baptist Church, is intensely conservative when it comes to viewing homosexuality as a sin . The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is one of the more welcoming Christian denominations to the LGBTQ community, who celebrate same sex marriages, so therefore do not view homosexuality as a sin . There are many other denominations who fall between declaring homosexuality as sinful and not. Calvin College, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Beat Movement And Kerouac s On The Road The beat movement is expressed the social and literary nonconformity of artists, poets, and writers. The word beat originally meant weary but came to refer as well to a musical beat. Followers of this movement, called beats or beatniks, lived nonconformist lives. They tended to shun regular work and sought a higher consciousness through Zen Buddhism, music, and, sometimes, drugs. Works that capture the essence of this era include Allen Ginsberg s long, free verse poem, Howl, published in 1956, and Jack Kerouac s novel of the movement, On the Road, published in 1957. Alan Freed s listeners responded enthusiastically, and Freed began promoting the new music that grew out of rhythm and blues and country and pop. He called the music rock n roll. In the early and mid 1950s, Richard Penniman, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley and His Comets, and especially Elvis Presley brought rock n roll to a frantic pitch of popularity among the newly affluent teens who bought their records. Social loading describes the tendency of individuals to put forth less effort when they are part of a group. Because all members of the group are pooling their effort to achieve a common goal each member of the group contributes less than they would if they were individually responsible (Cherry). This challenges the common belief that group work will be more productive. In 1913 a researcher named Ringelmann designed an experiment involving rope pulling to test the effect of social loafing. Having tasks that are too difficult or are unfamiliar are likely to incite social loafing because they group member lacks the ability or courage to provide input. Robbins and Judge (2011) theorize that another cause of social loafing is an uneven equity. When two people are putting in different levels of input and receiving the same level of output the larger contributor will adjust their input to reduce cognitive dissonance. Another reason they believe is dispersion of responsibility group members cannot be held responsible because tasks and roles are not clearly assigned. (Robbins Judge, 2011). In research by Worchel and others (1998) it was found that groups with friends or familiar members are far less likely to loaf when compared with groups made up of strangers (Worchel, Rothgerber, Day, Hart, Butemeyer, 1998) Most people have been in a group made up of friends and colleges they are familiar with and seen that in these types of groups social loafing is drastically reduced. Gender and Cultural Difference Karau and Williams explain there are several outlying factors that affect social loafing such as, gender, culture, and individual/collective rating. Women are less likely than men to social loaf because of the higher importance placed on being part of or fitting in a group while men usually place more value on individual performance. Duffy has found through the study of wills that Catholic views were still seen in a large section of the population. However, Doran suggests that long and relentless government persecutions forced many Catholics from their faith. This would indicate that there is uncertainty as to the Catholic threat domestically and Murphy would certainly argue that due to the increasingly hostile situation in Europe that the bigger Catholic threat came from abroad. When the Elizabethan Church Settlement was created Elizabeth attempted to return religious policy to the way it had been at the end of Henry VIII s reign; there is also an indication the settlement was driven by a need for political expediency. However all of these plots were unsuccessful and many historians would argue that this was because there was no appetite from English Catholics for an invasion from abroad. Also, many Catholics saw Elizabeth as the rightful Queen and many of these plots were regarded with horror or distaste by most of the English Catholic laity whose religious differences with the Queen did not readily convert them wither into supporters of assassination or a foreign conquest of ... • 26. Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry s Speech Paragraph One In the beginning of the speech, Henry uses a cautious but also assertive tone. In delivering this speech, Henry intended to highlight the problems caused by Britain, and convince the American people to fight back against British rule. Phrases such as the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings and nothing less then a question of freedom or slavery showcase usage of antithesis in the speech. Henry is appealing to the patriotism and emotions of his audience by mentioning things such as a question of freedom or slavery , the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country , and the very worth gentlemen who have just addressed the House . By comparing the majesty of heaven to earthly kings , Henry is appealing to ethos, or the audience s concept of ethics. The phrase freely, and without reserve is an example of parallelism. References to God are an example of allusion, as most of Henry s audience practiced Christianity. Paragraph Two The purpose of this section of the talk is to show people s desire to ignore the truth about the state of their country, and to warn against doing so. Henry is trying to show how one s default or natural response to the hardships they were facing at the hands of British rule might be to turn their head the other way. For instance, the increased importance of networks and the rise of highly systemic banks created a system in which the banks became, on one side, too big to fail, and, on the other, too big to save. Indeed, the lesson from Lehman Brothers Chapter 11 is that letting go bankrupt a systemic player (even not one of the largest) might bring about unknown undesirable effects. The policy makers are, therefore, definitely captured because banking sector is architecture in such a way that constrains the policy makers to go through a bail out in case of a relevant financial distress. So which are the consequences of this behaviour? The outcomes are double: the ex ante banks possibility to engage moral hazard behaviour and the ex post debt burden on the tax payers. This creates an incentive for the banks to take more risks due to the implicit protection of the government, that rely on the tax payers to pay for the bailouts, creating a substantial problem of fairness and social equity, in which low income class has to pay for the top income class errors. Another example of this theory is the state dependence on taxes generated by the financial sector. For instance, in the UK the financial sector s gross value added (GVA) rose over the last decade, but has declined since 2009. Its contribution to UK jobs is around 3.6%. However, more people can be killed in an instant by nuclear weapons whereas when you use a gun, more people can be killed in a span of a few months. It is also easier and cheaper to get a gun than it is to make and use a nuclear weapon. Liberalists and their conflicts are driven by issues like scarcity and survivability. An example would be Hugo Chavez s regime in Venezuela. They account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is estimated to account for over 41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined six key risk factors in the workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1) repetition, (2) high force, (3) awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6) prolonged constrained posture. Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that incorrect posture may play a large role in the development of CTS, particularly in people who work at computer and other types of keyboards. The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing nerves in the neck. • 39. How Did John F Kennedy s Influence On American Culture During the 1960s, few people were more influential on American culture and values than President John F. Kennedy. His young and adventurous personality shaped his decisions through his almost three year presidency. While his presidency was short compared to most, his effect on America is still felt today. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts to Joseph Patrick Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. He began his political career in 1946, as a Representative, quickly becoming a Senator, then the President of the United States. During his campaign, Promised to lead Americans to a New Frontier. For example, Congress turned down a cabinet level Department of Urban Affairs and Kennedy s plan for medical care for the elderly. Johnson, however, later had these passed. Kennedy changed around the United States s national defense policies and increased conventional weapons. He wanted to prepare for a non nuclear war and wanted to avoid a nuclear exchange. In his own words, Now in the thermonuclear age any misjudgements on either side about the intentions of the other could rain more devastation in several hours than has been wrought in all the wars of human history (Kennedy). In October of 1962, nuclear missiles were discovered in Cuba, as supplied by Russia. This, following the April 1961 Bay of Pigs failed invasion, were a recipe for an apocalypse. Kennedy ordered the US Navy to quarantine Cuba, turning away any ships carrying missiles. For some days a handful of men, operating largely in secret, held our destinies in their hands (Alsop 2). Thankfully, the nuclear war of our nightmares never came, as Khrushchev ordered all Soviet missiles to be removed from Cuba. This event became known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1961, Kennedy held a conference with Khrushchev about easing up on military threats against West Berlin, but nothing was solved and the Berlin Wall was built, not to fall till 1989. Russia began testing nuclear bombs again in 1961, breaking an official test ban. The United States began testing their bombs soon after, but did it underground, so as not to create dangerous fallout. In July, 1963, Russia, the United States, and Great Britain signed a treaty banning atomic testing in the atmosphere, outer space, and underwater. Testing was permitted underground (World Book 212j). • 40. Limitations Of Rapid Diagnostics Timely administration of appropriate antibiotics is essential for decreasing hospital mortality in patients with sepsis12. Kumar et al. demonstrated that with each hour delay, there is a 7.6% decrease in survival. Moreover, delaying appropriate antibiotics can increase healthcare costs, length of stay and antimicrobial resistance13, 14. Traditional methods of microbial identification have time concerns. Most laboratories take 48 72 hours to determine microorganisms susceptibility testing10, 15. Kerremans et al. did a prospective randomized controlled trial over two years period included 1489 patients to determine the utility of rapid diagnostic testing against traditional methods15. In another study by the same author, compared a historical control group with MALDI TOF MS coupled with antimicrobial stewardship and showed mortality benefits (21% vs 8.9%; p = 0.01)19. The later study overcame some of the limitations of the previous study and included only patients with antibiotic resistance gram negative bacteremia with sufficient sample size. Selecting the most appropriate and cost effective rapid diagnostic testing is somehow challenging given the wide range of commercially available diagnostic tools. Some of these tools require labor intensive clinical laboratories work with high complexity10. For gram negative bacteremia, two tools have potential clinical benefits, Verigene gram negative blood culture (BC GN) and FilmArray blood culture identification (BCID) given their ability to detect resistance patterns in certain microorganisms and have a short turnaround time after a positive blood culture. A study by MacVane S et al. examined the usefulness of antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASP) coupled with BCID versus conventional organism identification coupled with ASP or conventional organism identification (controls) alone20. Although microorganism identification was shorter in the BCID group (17 hours vs 54 to 57 hours; p 0.001), there was no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Disadvantages Of Mixed Economic System INTRODUCTION The problem of scarcity is one common to all economies regardless of its wealth. This requires choices to realistically be made, as determined by the country s economic system. The economic system basically refers to the allocative mechanism by which the people, businesses and government of a country make choices. Economists have recognized three distinct types of economic system the capitalist economy, the socialist economy and the mixed economy (Bamford Grant 2010). In a capitalist economy, households and firms usually decide the allocation of resources. They interact as buyers and sellers in the market for goods and services. Prices and the operation of the price system underpin this interaction; in turn, prices act to indicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this time, the British government was responsible for substantial areas of public expenditure such as health care and education, the direct operation of nationalized industries such as coal and gas, as well as for providing support for large areas of manufacturing, such as vehicle production, in partnership with the private sector (Bamford Grant 2010), while most decisions such as daily purchases are left for the public to make themselves. Some of the advantages of the mixed economy system include the fact that the government provides the essential services while encouraging the private sectors to continue building profits. The competition that arises from the private sector keeps prices low, ultimately benefiting the consumers and influencing their choices. Inefficient business behavior can also be controlled through the implementation of this system, minimizing the damage. On the contrary, its disadvantages are that the heavy taxes incurred reduce incentives provided for the public in the private sector to work hard and make profits. The government is also less efficient than the private sector; hence the essential services provided will not have the best quality. An excessive control over business activity via taxes incurred can also add to a firm s costs and discourage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Data Abstraction: Abstraction refers to the act of representing essential features without including the background details or explanations. Classes use the concept of abstraction and are defined as a list of abstract attributes such as size, weight and cost, and functions to operate on these attributes. Since the classes use the concept of data abstraction, they are known as Abstract Data Types. c) During analysis, you try to determine which objects you need and how to organise them. Moreover, government emphasises on the growth of private sector, which enhances Jessops s competition. A recent industry research report from IBISWorld argues that the expansion of advertising and fashion markets will stimulate domestic demand for photography services in the next five years (PRWEB, 2011). These provide opportunities for Jessops to expand its market share. 4.4 Threat However, there is much challenge for Jessops. * Changing market: Firstly, traditional film printing is declining in the UK. Secondly, market prices of products and services are going down instantly due to the popularity of online shopping. New technology is also a shock in that more and more mobile phones are now fitted with cameras with high definition. This can reduce demand for cameras. * Economic recession: As a result of the economic recession, unemployment has been rising and consumers have less disposable income and thus spend less on luxury goods. • 44. Questions On Properties Of Soils 2.3 Results and discussion 2.3.1 Physicochemical properties of soils Soil properties are shown in Table 2.1. These soils had a loamy texture with different contents of clay, sand and silt. pH values ranged from 4.45 to 7.73. TC was in the range of 1.6 to 8.37 % without significant amounts of TN and TS detected. TOC varied between 1.48 and 8.37% whilst DOC showed a wide range from 106 to 400 mg kg 1. CEC values ranged from 2.9 to 17.9 cmol kg 1. Concentrations of Fe oxide, Al oxide, and Mn oxide were 0.28 12.49 g kg 1, 0.5 12.6 g kg 1 and 0.0252 0.302 g kg 1, respectively. Total concentrations of As and Cd in control and spiked soil after one year aging were listed in Table S1 (Appendix 2). The difference between the spiked concentrations and measured ones may be due to the particle size (spiked soils were sieved to 250 μm particle size was used for all measurements. 2.3.3 Relationships between the bioaccessibility, total concentrations and selected soil properties Strong linear relationships between bioaccessible As/Cd (both gastric and intestinal phases) and total As/Cd in soils were observed with R2 varying between 0.72 and 0.98 (Figure 2.1). Therefore, within the spiked concentrations of As and Cd in this study, the soluble As and Cd during UBM extraction increased proportionally along with total concentrations in soils. Relations in gastric phase was stronger than that in intestinal phase probably due to the high solubility of both As and Cd in the gastric phase. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Similarities Between Beauty And The Beast And Shrek As children most of the fairy tales we were told about always involved a beautiful princess, a prince charming and a happily ever after . • 47. Evaluation Plan For Rapid Application Development 1.0 Development Approaches 1.1 Rapid Application Development Rapid application development is an approach that is designed to develop software and systems in which changes are expected to be made throughout the lifecycle of the approach. The RAD approach uses less time on planning and emphasizes more resources on an interactive process in rapid prototyping. The RAD methodology consists of four phases analysis, design, construction and implementation. The four phases are processed through a chain of short bursts of interactive development cycles according to James Martin RAD Methodology (Martin, 1991). Requirements planning phase Integrates all the aspects of system analysis and system planning. Stakeholders within the project team establishes a mutual agreement on the business objectives, project scope and requirements. Design phase In the design phase, the users works closely with the system analyst to develop models and prototypes that define the systems processes and functions. The development of the user design is an ongoing process that enables the users to make changes to the model until the final product is functional and meets the requirements of the project. Construction phase During the construction phase, it emphases more on the software development, users contribute ideas to make improvements in the code of the program and further changes may be implemented into the system. Implementation phase In final stage of the lifecycle, data is converted and system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
