No Secret That Education Is The Primary Foundation For...
Dear Mayors of towns in New England, ( December 10, 1838 )
It s no secret that education is the primary foundation for genuine success in life.
Therefore, it s imperative for us to ameliorate our nation s education system as much
as possible for the future generations. For the most part, up until this point, most
Americans who have pursued an education have done so through private means. I am
by no means saying that free schooling in America today is non existent, but it s
evident that the education provided by these institutions is inadequate due to a lack
of trained professionals. Therefore, we must sedulously work towards fabricating a
greatly needed public education system in our beloved nation. The challenges that
America has faced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And perhaps most vital of all, I have received word of America s first ever teacher
training college opening in Massachusetts during sometime next year. These are all
critical accomplishments, but this is just the beginning.
As far as the goals of this reform movement are concerned, our paramount objective is
to provide each and every student with free and equal education and opportunities. In
order for this to happen, it s imperative for this public education system to be put
implemented all over the nation. With regards to the financing of these common
schools, we intend on collecting the necessary funds through taxes. Again, our hope
is that these common schools will help shape Americans into exemplary citizens.
Another vital prospect to take into consideration is that a unified education system
would help assimilate all immigrants, which is fundamental, especially now during a
time when immigration has increased and will continue to increase at an exponential
rate. Another notable and somewhat ambitious goal is to procure the highest literacy
rate in the world. These are all things that definitely won t happen overnight, but we
are determined to work diligently towards meeting these goals.
Barriers and obstacles are always a part of the goal achieving process. Our education
reform movement is no different. Religious division is probably the biggest obstacle
Negative Impacts Of Invasive Species
Invasive species are impacting the world by causing negative financial and economy
issues as well as positive.
Negative Impacts:
To start, invasive species are any kind of living organisms that isn t native to an
ecosystem and can cause negative effects to that ecosystem and whatever thrives
there. As a matter of fact, they are the reason for the decline of 42% of endangered
and threatened species all around the world. Most forms are plants that poison the
animals and causes them to become endangered. Other forms are animals killing the
others and disease wiping the populations out. The plants also kill the neighboring
plants by releasing poisonous compounds. As the poisonous compounds, diseases and
animals spread out to various locations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people think that invasive species harm ecosystems and cause animals to go
completely extinct. What they don t know is that invasive species are bringing a
wide diversity of animals together. The honeysuckle is an invasive species from
East Asia and can now be found in gardens and stores. The honeysuckle attracted a
wide diversity of birds and insects. These birds then took flight and dispersed the
seeds in so the honeysuckle could occupy more space. Now, the honeysuckle is used
all other the country as medicine or digestive orders, beautiful plants and a top
attraction. Other invasive plants are attracting more and more species of insects and
animals to certain ecosystems. Other species of plants are killing other plants which
cause harm to certain animals. On the other hand, removing invasive species can be a
waste of money and resources. They can just grow back and they can help the
environment by attracting new species that have a positive effect on the environment.
(TomГЎs Carlo, Invasive Plants Can Create Positive Ecological Change ) Countries
around the world already spend enough money on necessities, so why waste money
trying to remove species that have a positive impact on the
The Killer Angels Chapter Summary
The Killer Angels tell about the Battle of Gettysburg. When this battle ended, 51,000
men were dead, wounded, or missing. All the characters are based off of real
historical figures. The author uses the characters and the plot effectively to contribute
to the theme. The soldiers of the Confederacy and the Union tended to diminish each
other. General Robert E. Lee, Colonel Joshua L. Chamberlain, and General James
Longstreetwere a few main characters throughout The Killer Angels. Robert Lee is
the commander of the Confederate Army. He has heart trouble which will eventually
kill him so he is at the end of his career. He holds the traditional way of combat.
Joshua Chamberlain has a different view than Lee and Longstreet. He left college at

evident that he himself if divided. He has the belief that black deserve to be free.
Chamberlain is troubled by the sense of revulsion that he feels at the sight of a
black man. [A]wake all night in front of Fredericksburg. We attacked in the
afternoon, just at dusk, and the stone wall was aflame from one end to the other,
too much smoke, couldn t see, the attack failed, couldn t withdraw, lay there all
night in the dark, in the cold among the wounded and dying. Piled up bodies in
front of you to catch the bullets, using the dead for a shield; remember the sound?
Of bullets in dead bodies? . . . Remember the flap of a torn curtain in a blasted
window, fragment whispering in that awful breeze: never, forever, never, forever.
(Shaara, 125 ). This quote was spoken by Chamberlain, it shows his impression of
his early combat. He was a citizen rather than a career soldier, unlike many other
fighters. The professor argued with Chamberlain, saying that blacks are subhuman.
He disagrees with this accusation. However, when seeing the injured black man, he
notices what he thinks of as the man s animal like qualities and wonders if the
professor s purported subhuman view is
Effective Diets
We have all heard of different types of diets in fitness magazines, weight loss
books, and television commercials, but which diets have been researched and been
proven to be effective for weight loss? Two of the most popular diets are a low
carbohydrate diet and a low calorie diet. A low carbohydrate diet removes almost all
carbohydrates from one s diet. Carbohydrates are a macronutrient that provide the
body with energy. A low calorie diet lowers the amount of calories in one s diet by
lowering the amount of fats and the total amount of daily calories a person takes in.
Low carbohydratediets and low calorie diets are effective for weight loss but can be
difficult to follow.
Random, controlled studies show that both low carbohydrate ... Show more content

A classic example of a low calorie diet would be half a plate of vegetables, a small
side of beans or rice, and a lean cut on meat like chicken or beef. So a great side
effect of these diets is that a person is forced to eat healthier. Both diets are
effective for weight loss but can be difficult to follow for several reasons. Both
diets can be difficult to follow if a person is eating out at fast food restaurants and
are not cooking their own food. Some restaurants are now trying to cater to these
diets, but most are high in carbohydrates and calories. When followed correctly
both diets can make most people feel fatigued and moody because the body has to
use stored fat as energy. Low carbohydrate diets are more difficult to follow,
because a person s insulin levels are lowered in the body. This is because of the
lack of carbohydrates, which causes more food cravings and less energy. This is a
good sign that the diets are working. Low calorie diets are not as difficult to follow
because a person is still eating plenty of carbohydrates, which keeps their insulin
levels stable. Low calorie diets are still difficult to follow because a person is still
eating fewer calories than the body needs to function. So even though both diets may
be difficult to follow they are both effective for weight loss. Even though there are a
lot of different diets on the market,

This report analyses the expansion of Michel s Patisserie into the Chinese market
through the creation of joint venture franchise agreements. Michel s will be evaluated
based on the motivations for expanding to China, process of internationalisation,
choice of entry mode, and standardisation versus adaptation decisions. This analysis
will be undertaken so that recommendations can be made to determine the most
effective means of securing the future success of Michel s in Shanghai. It will be

Negligible Risks
Through a joint venture franchising structure with fairly rigorous contractual
stipulations Michel s central administration were able to expand the business to
China on a shoestring while still maintaining arms length control of how the Chinese
business was run. The licensee and joint venture partner bore the financial risks,
while risks of damage to the brand that a failed venture would cause were deemed
negligible due to China being so far away from the Australian market.
EXTERNAL MOTIVATIONS
Globalisation
China is becoming more westernised, particularly the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai,
where demand for Western products is increasing rapidly as disposable income rises
in line with China s strong economic growth. Michel s wanted to establish a foothold
in the market at an early stage to demonstrate a long term commitment, which has
been identified as essential to compete successfully in the Shanghai market (per Tim
Harcourt, Austrade Chief Economist).
China s accession to the World Trade Organisation ( WTO )
China s accession to the WTO in 2001 has helped shape its economy to becoming a
more predictable environment for trade and foreign investment. Corporate
governance and frameworks for business operations and interactions have improved,
providing a much more transparent environment. (Deckers, 2004)

PSAC Analysis
As the PSAC is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year I think we should look
back at many of the accomplishments. The PSAC has achieved many gains for its
members including safer working conditions, better wages, equal pay for work of
equal value, benefit coverage for same sex partners, and rights for disabled
workers. While priorities of the PSAC tend to shift according to the priority
concerns of the membership, and according to changes in the workplace and the
labor force they also tend to stay the same. The core roots of the PSAC and of labor
unions in general are that workers deserve a say in the conditions of their labour. In
my view, while although maybe not new to some, one element I have not heard much
of is the affordability of onsite quality childcare and flexible work arrangements in
the workplace. This element would be a relevant issue for the young in our
membership and help in securing their involvement.... Show more content on

While maybe not as affordable for people on day shift it is more easily obtainable
as the public sector caters to the Monday to Friday, weekends off day shift worker.
As for the variable shift worker who requires evening, midnights, and weekend
care the affordability and access to child care is almost unobtainable. As I live in a
city with a large amount of variable shift workers for example in the auto industry,
nursing and law enforcement and other cities like mine, the need for variable child
care is of great importance. Parents like mine search high and low for quality child
care often overburdening relatives and for some family is not even available. Because
of the requirement for alternative child care providers outside the 6:30 am to 6:30
pm hours of operation time frame, they are often are unable to work overtime or not
able to pursue or accept higher positions. And even less offer available child care on

and an essayist, novelist, poet, playwright, and social critic. He was born in August

France. The book was written in the early 1960 about the problems of African
American people. The black or Negro was used at the time and throughout this
book. The book is in two essays, the first one is My Dungeon Shook a short letter to
his nephew on the one hundredth Anniversary of Emancipation, and the second
Down at the Cross is a long Letter from a Region of his Mind. The book reflects my
thoughts about my birth country. The main thoughts of both essays in the book are
explored and reflect and examinations Negro problems and the differences in races in
that time. Also it reflects the relationships and inter generational influences with the
black people and with white people in America. Baldwin also explores the
ineffectiveness of a religious faith and its futility. It is a personal perspective and his

Characters And Tension In Fences, By August Wilson
In this unit we read a play written as a book, called Fences . Fences is about racism
written in the 1986. The play is based around the main characters Troy and Rose,
and their son Cory. Troy has stated that he has felt the need to provide a life for
Cory but doesn t need love him. Troy is wanting Cory to stop playing football and
get a real job at the A P so he can provide for himself. Rose has been trapped in
between all of this. All in all, the play Fences written by August Wilson uses the
narrative element of characterization of Troy and Rose, the metaphor of sports, and
conflict that Troy creates to show tension. Characterization is brought up a lot to
show tension in the play Fences. Rose and Troy have a hard time communicating...

When Troy is talking to Cory he says, See...you swung at the ball and you didn t hit
it. That s strike one. See, you in the batters box. You swung and missed. That s
strike one. Don t you strike out! Troy is creating new tension by adding more
pressure to Troy and is doing it by saying don t strike out and baseball is a good
way to explain it. Cory plays football and Troy is against it and Cory wants to do it
in his future but because he is black he has different rights. Most days Cory would
use the excuse of Yeah, I had to go to football practice. (31) This is saying that yea I
have other things to do rather than work and I wanna do something better with my
life and he is conveying that through football. When Cory is talking to Troy that he
wants to continue with football and not get a job that causes more tension through
conflict. Any conflict that happened caused tension in Fences but there are some
main events that caused conflict creating tension. For example,Rose knew that it was
gonna happen, Troy cheating on her she just thought it was gonna happen suner.
Rose took in the baby and from right now...this child got a mother but you a woman
less man. (79) When Rose says that she will take in the child she is showing her
loving character and by her saying a woman less man she is adding conflict and
tension
What Is An Example Of Symbolic Interactionism
Symbolic interactionism in short is a perspective that focuses on labels that we
create and follow in our daily lives. It also explains how said labels shape and
affect our behavior as human beings and as a society. This is a micro level analysis
theory due to it s detail oriented nature and focus on personal encounters people
have with each other. Functionalism is a perspective that describes society as a
machine that operates relying on individual components to do their job effectively.
This also means that if one component fails to fulfill it s role, this could lead to
chaos or dysfunction in society. This perspective can be recognized as a macro level
theory since at a distance it looks at how society moves in harmony with the help
Sexism In The Awakening
Constant struggle for power, control, and self direction is experienced by every
human being at some point in their life time. In some desperate cases this struggle
can lead someone to do something momentous. In Kate Chopin s The Awakening,
the lead character, Edna, faces extreme sexism in a time where women were
expected to act only as a primal caretaker. Edna s search for self empowerment in a
time where men were the primary decision makers causes her to make crucial
sacrifices only to find out that there is no way she can truly control her life.
Throughout the novel Edna faces cases of hypocrytical sexism which are presented
within the first three chapters. In chapter three, Chopin opens the scene to Leonce
coming home late at night after having a good time with his friends. Leonce
primitively wakes Edna up to talk to her about pointless nonsense that could wait
until the morning. Enda, reacting as any normal person,... Show more content on

When Edna returns from the beach she sits in her hammock, silently, accompanied
by Robert. Shortly after Robert leaves, Leonce comes home and tells Edna to go
inside for bed. Edna refuses, and Leonce responds saying that he can t permit her
to stay outside. Leonce s response shows his true colors and mentality towards
Edna being a possession instead of a human. After Leonce s response Edna then
retreats inside while Leonce hypocritically stays outside and demands that Edna
never speak to him with such disrespect again. Leonce s reprisal shows how he sees
himself as a higher up entity as compared to a woman, and believes he can control
Edna s actions while he does whatever he wants. The whole scene presented in
chapter eleven shows how Leonce bluntly disregards what Edna wants, and tries to
control her for his own personal

The Life Of The 1950 S Essay
The 1950 s were considered to be a time where life was full of bliss, who wouldn t
want to be untroubled? Life in the 1950 s was simple and structured, and now it
seems as though the Happy days have disappeared. The 1950 s are considered The
Happy Days because life was so well put together back then and now, it seems, it
has all fallen apart. The 1950 TV shows, like Leave it to Beaver, has the American
society believing that life was perfect . Seeing the shows makes one imagine that the
familylife was splendid, the style was flawless and modest, everyone got along,
neighbors were friendly, and that the changes happening were for the best. In a way
that was very true. People in the society knew their place; In a typical 1950 s family,
the father and motherhad specific roles they had to fulfill, and even the children had
certain responsibilities. The men were the head of the household and usually
worked to provide for the family. The women of the 1950 s society were stay at
home moms, occasionally working a job as teachers or nurses. Men and women of
that time were well mannered, clean, and classy. When the man and womanwalked
down the street, the man would walk on the outside or the road side to protect the
woman from traffic. Men would also tip there hats as a kind gesture when they
walked past a woman. Life just seemed to be in place in the 1950 s, yes, it wasn t
perfect, but it seemed much more put together than what society is like now. The

How do we serve better them? When you focus on the consumers perspective and

How do you capture and interpret customer insights?
We start by taking note of memes within popular culture with things like TV serials,
cinema, songs, etc. We ask ourselves Why is this getting popular? What s driving
this? because there s a reason why these specific stories have captured the
imagination of the people. We believe since these stories resonate widely that it s

Monty Python and the Holy Grail Essay
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
A British Parody
By: Norwin Adarve
Monty Python and the Holy Grail has been a comic success in the film industry for
almost four decades. The main reason for its success is because the jokes have kept
the audience laughing whether they watched it in 1975 or just saw the comedy for
the first time yesterday. Monty Python and the Holy Grail would fall under two
categories of comedy, a satire and a parody. In contemporary usage, a parody is a
work that imitates another work in order to; ridicule, ironically comment on, or poke
fun at the work itself; the subject of the work, the author or fictional voice of the
parody, or another subject. Satire on the other hand is usually witty, and often very
funny, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is parodied in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur and his band,
constantly run away for bad situations (the bombardment of random farm animals
on them at the French castle and the massacre of many of their men by a vicious
rabbit). On a side note In Medieval times during battle opposing sides would often
hurtle dead animal carcasses into their enemy s camp or castle to spread disease.
Another scene that is used much in the same way is the one where Robin runs
away from a three headed monster as background music sings of brave Sir Robin.
A different instance where the movie satirizes the Knights courage in a negligent
way is when King Arthur cuts off the limbs of a black knight that will not let him
pass in the forest. Even without any legs, the knight still continues to badmouth
Arthur in hopes that he will fight him. This scene is paralleled in a more serious
way in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Where the Green Knight takes two
swipes at the neck of Gawain and intentionally misses and Gawain prompts the
Knight to finish the game and strike him dead. The Green Knight obliges and nicks
him across the neck. (Tolkien) Courtly love was the idea that love worshipped from
afar was superlative, and that only noble people were worthy of love. In Sir Gawain
and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain is seduced by the wife of the Lord of the Manor
three days in a row and expresses chivalry by being loyal to the Lord of the
Comparison Of Coetzee And Williams Present
Stereotypical...
Both Coetzee and Williams present stereotypical relationships between men and
women, with men typically being the alpha males, while women being the so
called victims . Oppression is the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome,
cruel, or unjust manner which causes the feeling of being heavily burdened,
mentally or physically, by troubles, adverse conditions or people, and anxiety . Four
themes that are included within this essay are; women s reaction to male power;
desire between men and women; male instincts and women s dependence on male
power. These relate to each other as they all come back to the idea that a womanneeds
a manin order to function which was a general expectation during the times both this
play and novel were set in.
A key theme in both texts is women s reaction to male power, a man having a
considerable degree of power over women is seen as the normality in A Streetcar
Named Desire, and therefore it is not fought against. By comparison; the balance of
power is challenged in Disgrace whereby Lucy, Melanie and Soraya are all making
a living for themselves, without the aid of male protection. On the other hand,
Melanie is a student, most likely supported by her father, a dominant male figure.
Nonetheless, it is undeniable that men are seen as physically and mentally stronger
than women in both of the texts. King Kimball observes that in Streetcar the man s
role as protector is only a way for a man to hide his greed, paternalism mired in
greed...

Vietnam
Thousands of miles away there are people who see things differently than Americans
do. They believe differently, think differently and also live life differently. Although
there are tons of different cultures around the world, the Vietnamese culturehas
always been very intriguing. People may define culture differently, in this case,
culture refers to the population, geography, structure, people, and so much more.
Given the history, both past and present, with the Americans and the Vietnamese,
understanding their culture, geography, weather, and their everyday lives is
important. When looking at the size of Vietnam, it is comparable to that of New
Mexico in America. It is approximately 329,560 Sq KM and is a flat delta with hill
like ridges on the North and Northeast. It has tropical lowlands, hills, and thick forest
highlands as well as very little flat uncovered land. The North, consists of highlands
and the south consists of the coastal lowlands.

The Vietnamese is one that if quite different from that here in the United Statesof
America. Even though there are differences, there are a lot of similarities in their
cultures compared to the culture in America. There are so many things that effect
the Vietnamese culture and way of life. The weather, government structure, culture,
and geography are all things that make Vietnam what is it today. When you think
about the past and the use of the terrain in the Vietnam War and realize how much
the culture has changed while still using the terrain as a resource is fascinating.
The social and everyday lives of these people are adapted by the seasons and the
terrain as well. There are so many factors that factor into a culture and what truly

Non Human Primates
Primates share many human like factors, and over time, studies are able to now show
that non human primates have become even more like humans in terms of culture
and lifestyle. Primates are intelligent, which allows parents of mammals to teach their
young, and the young learn much like humans do. From detailed studies of ape
behavior, it is concluded that apes, like humans, use tools and patterns to adapt from
what they learn in social groups, rather than it being biological. Primates have been
found to laugh, support each other, learn how to medicate themselves and others
when in need, have family traditions, show off, grieve, and the list goes on. Learning
such things, whether it be humanor ape, varies from culture to culture, through social
Bullying s Role In The Columbine Killings
After watching the documentary, it becomes clear that bullying played a major role
in these killings. Another factor was the mental state of these two individuals who
both were diagnosed, treated, and prescribed medication for psychiatric reasons,
which were documented in the film by Steven E. Pitt a psychiatrist whom stated both
Dilan and Eric did have a mood and psychiatric disorder Eric prominent anger Dylan
depression (class film). There is an immense lack of empathy, remorse, sympathy.
There are irrational motives behind these murders and unjustifiable behavior that
cannot be explained with logical reasoning bullyingalong with depression was
something these individuals struggled with. They both had little contact with the
outside world their inner circle was comprised of each other there was no room for
any outside positive influences. Based on the evidence in the film I believe there
was a combination of factors which attributed to these killings. The school failed to
stop bullying and did not recognize the warning signs these students presented prior
to this tragedy taking place. Dietz s hypotheses are resentment brewed anger, sadness
rooted depression (Class film). This explains some of the external and internal

Scrutinize Zeno s Dichotomy Paradox
Zeno of Elea is most well known for his series of about 40 different paradoxes of
plurality designed to show that believing in many things rather than just one can
only lead to illogical conclusions. One of the topics he emphasizes on is motion,
more specifically with these paradoxes he attempts to establish that motion is
impossible. Here he describes three different paradoxes one of which is the
Dichotomy paradox. The purpose of this essay is to scrutinize Zeno s Dichotomy
paradox and to see if it properly defends itself against some of the main challenges
that have been raised against it, which I believe Zeno has managed to do. I will
reevaluate Zeno s paradox in comparison to see how well it defends against criticism.

Mathematics has greatly advanced since the time of Zeno and Aristotle and this has
brought to light another way to counter Zeno s paradoxes. With the creation of
calculus, Zeno s paradox has been more or less resolved. The calculus solution to this
paradox considers the infinite sequence of ВЅ, Вј, 1/8, ..., 1/2^n, which is an infinite
geometric sequence. Geometric sequences have a formula of
∑_(n=1)^в€
ћв–’гЂ–(гЂ– 1/2гЂ—^i )гЂ—=1 were the number of half steps are
balanced out by the increasingly short amount of time needed to journey through
all those distances. However, this is a convergence of an infinite series, which
means that the sum of this can be approximated very closely to one if you add up
enough terms. This mathematical explanation seemed to suffice for a lot of people,
since the sum of all of those terms can be approximated closely enough to a doable
number to justify motion being an actual thing. However, if we take a closer look at
Zeno s paradox, the problem was not that the runner wouldn t get close to the final
point, point B. The problem was that the runner would never actually manage to reach
that final point because no matter how small the distance between the runner and the
final point, the distance can still be divisible by half and therefore there would never
be a final point were the runner would confidentially reach point B. Because the
calculus equation can only approximate very closely to the final point, but never the
actual point, this solution is still not the correct
An Essay About Hercules A Hero
Who is the best example of a hero? Hercules. He is the mortal son of zeus. Hercules
is the strongest hero of all time. Not only does he have incredible strength, but he
is very caring of his family and mortals. Hercules is not just one of those basic,
amatuer heros, he has so much experience since he had performed 12 labours. These
are some of the reasons why Hercules is known as the greatest heroof all time.
The mortal hero Hercules, is the strongest mortal being out there. Two huge snakes...
poison oozing from their fangs, slid towards the cradle... he reached out and grasped
their necks... a mere eight months old, had killed them. (Creighton 96) So this is an
example of his strength. When he was only eight months old, he strangled two snakes
sent by Hera. The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A huge boar was ravaging cattle on mount Erymanthus, and again Hercules was
required to capture it alive. This pised him no problem... he chased the boar... until
it collapsed... and then bound the beast in chains. ( Creighton 99) He got a lot of
experience from this labour because he had to chase down this wild boar, and then
chain it up. So if any tragedies like this occur in the city, he would be able to take
care of it. The third labour imposed on Hercules was the capture of a deer with
golden antlers... Eurystheus wanted him to bring the animal back alive, Hercules
brought it down by shooting an arrow neatly through the forelegs. ( Creighton 98)
To hit a shot like that, there is lots of experience necessary, so even before the 12
labours, Hercules had these amazing skills of running, shooting, hunting and so on.
The best hero, most also have the most experience and skills, that is why Hercules
is the greatest hero. Without these skills, and without this type of experience, you
are not fit to be called the best hero. Hercules is the only one with these skills and
experience, that is why is the best
Should You Be Judge For Being Born As A Multiracial And...
Should you be judge for being born as a multiracial and biracial individual? which
background do you represent the most, if you re White, Asian, Latino/Latina,
African american. Which side would you choose? if you are a mix child, why can
t you be proud of both or even the other ethnicity background that you have? Those
were the questions that I ve had while reading through the article of Susan Saulny
on the topic of being a mix child. I am Dominican and Puerto Rican with some
Spaniard in as well, so I m somewhat a mix child, but I am a proud Latino and that
is the side that I chose even though I have different Latino in me, I am still
considered a Latino man. I m 22 years old and in the next 5 or 6 years, I do see
myself having several children and I have a sure sense that they will be a mix of
non Latino/Latina. My current girlfriend is Chinese and the more that I get to
know her well, I can see her in being the mother of my children and I will be the
2nd person in my family to infuse a different ethnicity into our family tree. My
older brother married to woman who is half Dominican and Libyan and he loves
her so much that they are now having a 2nd baby. I have nothing against the Latina
women, but since I am free to choose who I want to love and have a family, I want
to have different options. My mother at first wanted me to be with just a Dominican
or someone who has light skin features. Now she has changed her mind and accepted
that I am the one who choose the woman to
The Power Of Power In My Last Duchess By Robert
Browning
In several countries tyrants abuse their power for their own benefit. Many people
must obey these cruel rulers or be punished if they disobey. People must live in fear
because of these tyrants, who use their power for their own satisfaction. In My Last
Duchess the Duke of Ferrara uses his power to control his subjects, and kills his wife
because of the way she acts around other men. From beginning to end My Last
Duchessby Robert Browningdisplays the corrupt power of the domestic tyrant, his
arrogance, jealousy, and the ruthlessness.
To begin, the Duke is displayed to be a corrupt leader. His tyrannical ways and
ideas of solving problems in his life are preposterous. The Duke is enraged that his
wife shows flirtatious expressions to other men that show kindness towards her.
The Duchess is killed because the Duke becomes frustrated with her actions This
grew; I gave commands; Then all smiles stopped together (Browning line 45 46).
This portrays the Duke s tyrannical ways, he demands her to stop, but she ignores
him, therefore the Duke decides to kill his wife. According to Robert Reese, The
Duchess smiles to the other men aroused an anger in the Duke so powerful that he
gave commands to have her killed . The Duke of Ferrara considers himself superior
to others and above laws and morality. He feels he can do anything he desires
without serving any sort of punishment. The Duke does indeed have an enormous
amount of power, and he uses all that power to be abusive to
Media Influence Media
How does the media influence elections and politics
During the past 20 years, the media has experienced massive changes in terms of
the platforms it appears in as well as the audience it reaches. While traditional
forms of media such as newspapers, television, are considered to be more
controlled, with the newly occurring and vastly growing online media, information
reaches more people and in a rapid pace never seen before. This essay will describe
how new occurrences have gained media the power to actively re enforce (however
not to the extent of shaping) political public opinion.
Firstly, in order to understand the major influence that the media has on politics and
elections, one should understand what the term media includes. ... Show more content

And usually, once the public deems certain issues as of most importance, they are
quickly initiated to legislature. Going back to the Cold Warand Vietnam, we can see
how media coverage the Vietnam War inspired peace movement activists to take over
the streets and demand the withdrawal of foreign (mostly American) troops from
Vietnam.
Undeniably, political candidates and the media, have always had intense interactions.
The world of media and the world of politics have a symbiotic relationship ; without
the media politicians would find it extremely hard to make their voices heard, while
the media has a duty of encouraging democracy and people s involvement in
important matters, therefore media s involvement in the world of politics is inevitable.
Curran wisely said; Media owners and politicians are so interlocked (that) media
can t be independent (2002.) A.J. Liebling also expressed his disapproval with his
words; Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one.
Certainly, the changes in technology have affected our attention spans and focuses.
News articles are becoming shorter and are often dominated by visual content. Big
fonts, bright and shocking pictures win more clicks , and it is not rarely that images
and videos of politicians/political events are the centre of intense discussion.
Research has shown that visual communication conveys
Compare Beowulf Is An Epic Hero Archetypes
Epic Hero This essay is going to be comparing how the character Beowulf and Roy
Hobbs are alike and different. Statistics show that there is a lot of similarities
between these two reads and both a great example of an Epic Hero archetype. They
both show strong characteristics of a Epic Hero but are different people in general
and their goals or priorities in what they are trying to accomplish are completely
different. Beowulfhas strength like no other. He is your typical epic hero. He Saves
the day in a majestic and seeming to be an impossible epic way. Like for a couple
examples of his strength is how he ripped off grendel s arm when he tried to run
away. No normal person would be able to do that. Another example is when he
picked up the mighty sword when he slew grendel s motheras everyone was appalled
by his strength. Beowulf is a very good example of an epic hero. He Is very strong
and it seems like he does a lot stuff that is not possible and is a very good leader and
persuasive. People follow in his footsteps because he is a great influence on the
people. Beowulf is in an older time where people were not as advanced as us and
have to fight all the time and there are an evil beast to slay. They way people act or
are treated are a lot different than the way people are treated in Roy Hobbs. The
people in the book of Beowulf are a lot more barbaric, like when Beowulf ripped off
grendel s arm and they hung it up on front of the door for everyone to see. Then when
The Importance Of Antidepressants
This is an accurate representation of medication for depression. It does not make
you want to live, it does not fix your thinking, it just makes you functional. It
allows you to do things you wouldn t usually be able to, and maybe after a while
you will be able to function on your own. I am a strong believer in the idea that you
should avoid taking unecessary medication. Lots of people I know have said that
me saying that is hypocritical because I take antidepressants, but I disagree. While
it is not completely necessary for me to take antidepressants to overcome my
depression and anxiety, they make a big impact on my life. Antidepressants have
allowed me to be a functional human being and because of this, I have been able to

Descriptive Essay About Six Flags
About seven years ago, I went to Six Flags for the first time ever. I was only about
ten years old at the time, and of course I was extremely nervous. I had a lot of
questions about it because of course it was all new to me with it being my first
time going to an amusement park. I had asked about the big rides they have of
course, the really popular water park they have at Six Flags, and of course I had to
ask about the good amusement parkfood. As soon as I got there, my heart instantly
dropped.
I was at the park, and it was me and my family taking a trip to the best amusement
park in missouri. We took off from the house, in Fulton, Missouri. It was about an
hour and a half drive to get to Six Flags in St. Louis. We finally got there, the lines
were super long, and the park was packed already at about eleven in the morning.
Me and my little sister were both extremely excited to get past the long line, since
it was both of our first time being there. We walk through the gate, and my heart
instantly dropped on spot. The rides were super big. With loops and corkscrews, and
that made me go from excited to scared quick.I was only about ten years old;
therefore, I was not able to ride that many rides, and I was kind of relieved to hear
that from my family. Since I was too young and too short to ride any rides, me and
my sister went to the water park. The rides were still really big and scary, but also
very fun at the same time, there was quite a few cool water slides that I

Midwestern Plumbing Essay
Like all parts of your home, plumbing requires regular maintenance to keep your
household running smoothly. But not all plumbing issues arise from leaking
faucets and frozen pipes; sometimes the biggest issues come from neglected drains.
While there are certainly steps to take in order to care for your drains at home like
special store bought drain cleaning products it s still best to get your drains inspected
by plumbers when you are experiencing a clogged drain. Midwestern Plumbing
Service, a full service plumbing company assisting homeowners in the Cincinnati, OH
and northern Kentucky areas, provides professional drainage services to keep your
plumbing working well.
If you don t regularly care for your household drains, big problems could be on the
horizon. Beside the irritation that a slow draining bath or sink causes, clogged
drains could potentially severely damage the plumbing in your house, leading to
leaking or bursting pipes. Instead of waiting until a giant issue like house flooding
occurs, which would lead to expensive repairing costs, routinely check and
maintain the drains in your home. If you notice your water draining at a slower
pace, whether it be in the bath, shower, or kitchen or bathroom sink, it s necessary
to call an experienced plumber. Simply hiring a plumber to snake the drain,
clearing the pipes of collected hair or soap, could prevent thousands of dollars in
household damages. Midwestern Plumbing Service can help you keep your home in
excellent condition by examining and correcting any plumbing issues due to clogged
drains or otherwise. They even offer 24 hour emergency services so, no matter the
hour or day, if a plumbing problem arises, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stress In University Essay
Stress is known for occurring during the overwhelming times throughout students
university experience. There are three major elements that students face in university
that reinforce each other and lead to stress. These three connected experiences can
lead to them developing a mental illness if the stress becomes long term. Firstly,
when the academic pressure and work load for students rises when they come to
university, they will feel stressed. Secondly, since university is expensive, it may be
very stressful for students to pay for tuition and living costs. Lastly, students who are
starting university will face a lack of family support systems, difficulty finding
friends, and difficulty leaving home which will lead to them feeling stressed. Stress
based on these three factors may have a significant impact on their mental health and
academic success.
Firstly, when the academic pressure and work load on students rises when they come
to university, they will feel stressed as they adjust to the change of scholarly
expectations. Students in university face the challenges of having more assignments
and tougher examinations than in high school, which students may not be prepared
for beforehand. The other academic factors that contribute to higher stress levels are
familial induced pressure to succeed, scholarship requirements, and higher education
requirements (Bedewy and Gabriel). Other factors that also have the highest rate of
academic stress are, course loads, lack of
Negative Effects On Animals
For several generations, animals have been entertaining humans. From sitting in
zoo exhibits to being paraded around in flashy circuses, animals, especially exotic
ones, have drawn large audiences. A close look at a ferocious lion or a dancing
elephant wearing a headdress is often what captivates people, since these spectacles
are often unusual and fascinating. However, for lions to be viewed up close and
elephants to dance, they must be held captive and trained for desired behavior. This
captivity and training raises a question: is captivity detrimental to global animal
ecology and health? Many animal activists claim that captivity is abusive, but animal
entertainment organizations, such as zoos, circuses, and animal theme parks,
promote environmental health through ecological education of children and adults
as well as funding research for conservation. During SeaWorld commercials, orcas
and sea lions playfully splash around in crystal blue waters. Likewise, zoos display
animals in beautiful habitats, yet many of the animals natural habitats are depleting
due to acid rain, ozone depletion, global warming, the destruction of the world s rain
forests, and phytoplankton blooms and coral bleaching (Bonner 81). These man
created global issues are forcing several animals to the brink of extinction. According
to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature 18 percent of the world s
remaining mammals and 11 percent of the world s remaining birds are threatened with

Florida Panther I did my report on the Florida Panther. Playing basketball as a
Kentucky Wesleyan Panther, made me want to do research about one of the many
species of panthers. These species are going through endangerment and will
probably be extinct in the near future. They were listed in the Endangered Act in
1967, so one positive is they have held on for some years now. There are about
eighty to about one hundred Florida panthers still living today. The historic range of
the Florida panther extends from Florida to Louisiana throughout the Gulf Coast
states and Arkansas. These species are distributed all around southwestern tip of

The government basically gave up trying to help out these species twenty years ago.
There are some efforts that can be made. Activists and government officials in Florida
have been effective in securing some funding for panther recovery; Activists have
been especially critical of the Florida panther license plate program, which funds the
Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund. Launched in nineteen ninety,
the license plate has generated significant funding for Florida panthers: License plate
sales raised $2.66 million in nineteen ninety eight to nineteen ninety nine and $2.49
million in nineteen ninety nine to two thousand. According to state statute, the
Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund should be used to increase
panther food sources, determine conflicts between public use and panther survival,
maintain genetic variability, and support management and enforcement activities that
protect panther habitat, in addition to educating the public about panthers and their
conservation and working towards reestablishing panthers. When they are invested in
panther conservation, experts contend that they are not directed to the panther s most
immediate needs such as preserving and acquiring habitat or furthering objectives for
establishing additional panther populations. The Auditor General for the state of
Florida has undertaken an audit of the Florida Panther Trust
The Holy Spirit Intercession In The United States
The Spirit Intercedes for Us
Romans 8:26 27 gives one of the roles the Spirit plays in the life of believers; and,
that is in the area of intercession. Intercession can be defined as an act of intervening
or mediating between differing parties, particularly the act of praying to God on
behalf of another person . There are a number of instances in the Old Testament
where the act of intercession is found. Whereas these were literal events, they also
pictured the intercessory role that the Holy Spirit would have towards the believers
in the New Testament. Below is an analysis of Gen 18 (Abraham interceding for Lot)
and how it pictured how the Spirit intercedes for believers.

Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not
spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? In Gen
Kamugisha 2
18:25, the Lord mentions that He would not destroy the righteous with the wicked;
actually, in Gen 18:26 the Lord assures Abraham that If He was to find in Sodom
fifty righteous within the city, then He would spare all the place for their sakes. In
Gen 18:27 33, Abraham goes ahead to plead before the Lord to spare the city
whether there be found forty five, forty, thirty, twenty, or ten righteous. The Lord was
not angry with Abraham, and, He assured him all through that for the righteous sake,
He would spare the cities.
In this passage, Abraham represents the Holy Spirit, Lot represents the believers, and
the wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah represents the wickedness on the earth.
Below are primary lessons on the Spirit s intercession for the believer;
Just like the Lord would not hide anything from Abraham, so does He with the Holy
Spirit the Father does not hide anything from the Holy Spirit. The Spirit searches all
things including deep things of God. The reason Abraham was able to intercede for
Lot was because the Lord revealed to him what He was going to do. Similarly, the
Spirit is able to intercede for believers because the Lord reveals all things to the

Ode To A Nightingale Critical Analysis
Fade far away, dissolve, and quite forget What thou among the leaves hast never
known, The weariness, the fever, and the fret. (Keats) In Ode to A Nightingale, John
Keats is the narrator who is in a state of drowsiness and numbness when he sees a
nightingale and then goes on to explain his encounter with the bird. Although the
surface level meaning of the poem is a man expressing his thought to and about a
bird, there is a deeper meaning that can be seen when you investigate the literary
devices used. Keats uses imagery, tone, and symbolism to display the theme of pain
and inner conflict between life and death. Imagery is seen all throughout the poem,
but can be seen specifically when Keats is referencing death. Through the uses of the
word hemlock which is a poison made of herbs, and Lethe which is, in Greek
mythology, a river in Hades (the underworld). Souls about to be reincarnated drank
from it to forget their past lives. (Melani) These words, along with others, paint a
distinct picture of death and forms a very dark image of Keats inner thoughts. In
the 2nd Stanza, Keats describes the real world with words such as Flora which is
the goddess of flowers and fertility. (Melani) and Hippocrene which is, in Greek
mythology, a spring sacred to the Muses, located on Mt.Helicon. Drinking its waters
inspired poets. (Melani) Through the uses of these words, readers can infer that
Keats seems to think that life, when enjoyed, is blissful and pure. Imagery is used
Harry Potter And The Sorcerer s Stone By J.k. Rowling
Most people have a book that they truly love to read, whether it s fiction or non
fiction. However, the content behind the book cover of Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer s Stone written by J.K. Rowling, seems to have stirred up quite the
predicament for the schoolboard. Mrs. Anna Davis the mother of Logan Davis,
wants to pull the book and keep it out of the hands of the students. Meanwhile, Mr.
Greg Hartmann an English teacher at the school and the one who assigned Logan
the book assignment in the first place, as well as some of the parents of the other
students want to keep the book accessible to everyone. As a member of the school
board, we need to look at both sides of the case in order to come to an appropriate
conclusion. We will first review Mrs. Anna Davis s claim and discuss why the book
should be pulled from the school s library. Then we will look over to Mr. Greg
Hartmann s side of the case and discuss why he should be allowed to keep the book
not only for the library but for his class assignment s as well. Finally, we will look
at a variety of possible solutions to try and come to an agreement between Mrs.
Davis and Mr. Hartmann sides of the book banning case.
Mrs. Davis initially complained about the homework assignment that was given to
Logan Davis her son. Logan is a student in Mr. Hartmann s English class and was
asked to write about the characters in the fictional story of Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer s Stone. Mrs. Davis has given her reasons as to why the book
Abolition Of Pennies
The U.S have been producing pennies for over a 200 years now and over time it
has become very useless to the society. A penny is only one cent and to most
people that is worthless. Pennies were more valued around the 1950s, when the
products were very cheap to buy. As technology evolved, and as products got more
expensive, the use of dollar bills and greater got more valuable. The abolition of the
penny needs to happen in the United States. Because pennies are outdated, therefore
the United States should abolish the pennies, since there s no single products that can
be purchased with a penny. Pennies are so worthless in this new century, but yet the
united states are still producing millions of pennies every day. The U.S economy has

Windows And Windows Operating System
Windows has become a household name. The company logo is familiar to almost
everyone across the world. This revolutionary company has played a major role in
the current technology explosion. Windows was one of the first affordable operating
systems that enabled computers to be more widely available. Many changes and
updates have been made to the Windows operating system to keep Microsoftat the top
of its market.
The history of Windows dates back to 1975 when Bill Gates and Paul Allen
founded a partnership called Microsoft. They had a monumental vision that there
would be a computer on every desktop and in every home (Microsoft, Era 0, para
2). Microsoft rewrote a previously purchased operating system to support
subdirectories and hard disks naming it MS DOS (Software Gems, para 3 5). This is
short for Microsoft Disk Operating System. MS DOS was an effective foundation
that ran the personal computer. However, it was difficult for users to master. Specific
commands required memorization.
To combat the frustration caused by MS DOS, Microsoft released Windows 1.0 in
1983. Windows 1.0 was introduced as unique software designed for the serious PC
user (Microsoft, Era 1, para 2) by Bill Gates. Windows 1.0 enabled users to
maneuver a mouse to point and click versus typing in difficult to remember
commands. This was not, however, the first operating system to use the point and
click technology. The low price is what really made Windows 1.0 stand out from the

This was done as a means to obscure the fact that the US intended to deploy troops in

2002, the United States was able to send the first post September 11 set of troops
outside of Afghanistan to the Philippines. However, in order for actual warfare to
take place, the US had to increase its realm of jurisdiction over the exercises. It was
speculated that this had been done through the signing of a treaty between the United
States and the Philippines, conducted in secret during President Arroyo s visit to the
United States in November of 2001 (Sarmiento,2001). This agreement, now identified
as the Military Logistical Supports Agreement (MLSA), was rumored to be a
document that would allow the United States to return as a permanent military

controversial Visiting Forces Agreement of February 1998 would lead to the

Who s Irish Gish Jen Analysis
In Who s Irish by Gish Jen, the ideas of a close minded grandmother clashes with
those of the generations beneath her. Raised by traditional Chinese parents, she

definitely my granddaughter Sophie is smart. But Sophie is wild, Sophie is not like

concludes that she is a troubled, disobedient child. The grandmother s close minded
thinking leads to old fashioned disciplinary in effort to try to change Sophie. Because
of the grandmother s cultural differences and generation gap, her relationship with
Sophie is impacted. Her traditional parenting is different from her daughter s which
causes the grandmother to have difficulties with getting along with Sophie. Sophie is
used to her mother s parenting, not her grandmother s. Again, modern day s form of
punishment is not spanking and it is highly looked down on. It is looked upon as
abuse rather than a pnishment. The grandmother follows old traditions and focuses
on physical discipline in attempt to change Sophie s behavior, causing their
relationship to fall apart. I hate you! she yell, I hate you, Meanie (12). Sophie hates
her grandmother in light of the fact that her traditional disciplinary is harsh and does
not fit with any form of punishment. With Sophie hating her grandmother, the

On June 11, 1776, the Second Continental Congress met at Carpenter Hall in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where five men were appointed to be a part of a comity
to write the Declaration of Independence and become liberated from the British
government. The Declaration of Independence is one of the most important
documents in American history. It tells the major ideas that the Founders had about
government. Eventually, after several rough drafts of the Declaration of
Independence by Thomas Jefferson, a final draft was written and finally approved by
the Second Continental Congress. Therefore, on July 4, 1776, the nation was
officially born when fifty six members of the Second Continental ... Show more

It also states when such situation arises; government it is not only their ambition, but
it is their right and their duty to throw off such a Government and to provide the
foundation for a new government to ensure their future security. Next, in section one
of the Declaration of Independence listed twenty eight grievances the American
colonies had against King George III. Then, section two of the Declaration
specifically stated what endeavors were taken by the colonist s to overturn some of
the decisions of King George III but ultimately were met in vain. Lastly, a conclusion
of the Declaration of Independence notes that having recorded their objections, which
British North American were living, they the Colonies declared their right to be free
and independent from the British rule. It further declared that any legislative
acquaintances between the two were to be eliminated. The new nation was to be
called the United States of America and was to have no further association with Great
Britain. That the new government would reserve rights to exercise war, make
reconciliation, as well as make collaborations with foreign nations.
The new nation was governed by the Articles of Confederation that had been adopted
during the Revolution. In March 1781, the Second Continental Congress approved
the Articles of Confederation after more than a year of debate. The Articles of

Marshals Research Paper
Over the course of the United States history, there have been numerous Federal Law
enforcement agencies that have protected and enforced laws within the United States.
The Federal Borough of Investigation (FIB), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA),
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms (ATF) agency all play a crucial role in a well ran Nation.
There are many other Federal agencies that protect the nation as well. The
Transportation Security Agency (TSA) and customs and immigrations department are
just a few of many who protect the critical infrastructure of the United States. It s hard
to believe that there was one agency, the first federal agency, had the duty of all
these agencies and more. The US Marshals laid the foundation for the security of our

The west had small towns popping up everywhere and with little to no law, the
Marshals were called in to police the Wild West .
The Marshals duties really didn t with the exception of serving a lot more warrants
and the hunting of outlaws. Some of the famous outlaws hunted by the Marshals
include Billy the Kid, Jessie James, and Butch Cassidy. Marshals such as Wyatt
Earp, Wild Bill Hickok and Pat Garret were perhaps just as famous or infamous as the
outlaws themselves. After many outlaw and Marshal deaths, the wild west calmed
down and the Marshals moved into a new century that brought civil unrest.
The 1900 s began with a steel, steel for railroads that is. With the expansion of
America west, railroads became the main source of travel. With no one to protect the
railroads from robbers, and natives, the US Marshals found themselves guarding
Americas interest. 1917 brought the first World War and the Marshals found them
selves with new taskings from the justice department. They protected ports and
industries that were crucial to the success of America in the war.
Due to the development of multiple federal agencies such as the FBI, the Marshals
fell silent until the 1960 s. The 1960 s was the start of the civil rights movement in
America. With all of the unrest, the Marshals found themselves protecting equality
and integration of races. In the late 60 s the Department of Justice finally saw that the
Marshals were a key asset within the department and
British East Indi A Period Of Political Stability
After a period of political stability in United Kingdom, the government began
colonizing all different areas of the world. Some places such as, the Americas, the
Caribbean, Africa and southern Asia were all very common places for colonization
not only just for United Kingdom but the rest of Europe. Beginning in the 1700 s the
British started to gain economic relationships with India. The British East India
Company set up a massive trading network and thrived off of an abundance of
resources and highly demanded goods that they found in India. Indian cotton, silk,
peppers, spices, and indigo were extremely successful in European trading markets.
This success in the trading markets fueled English interest in India and led to
expansion into mainland India. Weak Mughal rule allowed for the British East India
company to gain more control and political power in their colonies. After a period of
harsh, militaristic rule from the trading company, the sepoys fought back to re
establish Indian political control and to rid India of the British. Queen Victoria sent
troops to fight the rebellion and successfully put it down. This led to more and more
British politicians sent to India to rule and to encourage western education and
religion. Series of nationalist movements occurred to help bring back Indian culture.
These movements never caught on with Indian civilians until the mid to late 20th
century. British rule left India in shambles and caused political instability after their

  • 2. No Secret That Education Is The Primary Foundation For... Dear Mayors of towns in New England, ( December 10, 1838 ) It s no secret that education is the primary foundation for genuine success in life. Therefore, it s imperative for us to ameliorate our nation s education system as much as possible for the future generations. For the most part, up until this point, most Americans who have pursued an education have done so through private means. I am by no means saying that free schooling in America today is non existent, but it s evident that the education provided by these institutions is inadequate due to a lack of trained professionals. Therefore, we must sedulously work towards fabricating a greatly needed public education system in our beloved nation. The challenges that America has faced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And perhaps most vital of all, I have received word of America s first ever teacher training college opening in Massachusetts during sometime next year. These are all critical accomplishments, but this is just the beginning. As far as the goals of this reform movement are concerned, our paramount objective is to provide each and every student with free and equal education and opportunities. In order for this to happen, it s imperative for this public education system to be put implemented all over the nation. With regards to the financing of these common schools, we intend on collecting the necessary funds through taxes. Again, our hope is that these common schools will help shape Americans into exemplary citizens. Another vital prospect to take into consideration is that a unified education system would help assimilate all immigrants, which is fundamental, especially now during a time when immigration has increased and will continue to increase at an exponential rate. Another notable and somewhat ambitious goal is to procure the highest literacy rate in the world. These are all things that definitely won t happen overnight, but we are determined to work diligently towards meeting these goals. Barriers and obstacles are always a part of the goal achieving process. Our education reform movement is no different. Religious division is probably the biggest obstacle

Negative Impacts: To start, invasive species are any kind of living organisms that isn t native to an ecosystem and can cause negative effects to that ecosystem and whatever thrives there. As a matter of fact, they are the reason for the decline of 42% of endangered and threatened species all around the world. Most forms are plants that poison the animals and causes them to become endangered. Other forms are animals killing the others and disease wiping the populations out. The plants also kill the neighboring plants by releasing poisonous compounds. As the poisonous compounds, diseases and animals spread out to various locations, ... What they don t know is that invasive species are bringing a wide diversity of animals together. The honeysuckle is an invasive species from East Asia and can now be found in gardens and stores. The honeysuckle attracted a wide diversity of birds and insects. These birds then took flight and dispersed the seeds in so the honeysuckle could occupy more space. Now, the honeysuckle is used all other the country as medicine or digestive orders, beautiful plants and a top attraction. Other invasive plants are attracting more and more species of insects and animals to certain ecosystems. Other species of plants are killing other plants which cause harm to certain animals. On the other hand, removing invasive species can be a waste of money and resources. They can just grow back and they can help the environment by attracting new species that have a positive effect on the environment. (TomГЎs Carlo, Invasive Plants Can Create Positive Ecological Change ) Countries around the world already spend enough money on necessities, so why waste money trying to remove species that have a positive impact on the

All the characters are based off of real historical figures. The author uses the characters and the plot effectively to contribute to the theme. The soldiers of the Confederacy and the Union tended to diminish each other. General Robert E. Lee, Colonel Joshua L. Chamberlain, and General James Longstreetwere a few main characters throughout The Killer Angels. Robert Lee is the commander of the Confederate Army. He has the belief that black deserve to be free. Chamberlain is troubled by the sense of revulsion that he feels at the sight of a black man. [A]wake all night in front of Fredericksburg. We attacked in the afternoon, just at dusk, and the stone wall was aflame from one end to the other, too much smoke, couldn t see, the attack failed, couldn t withdraw, lay there all night in the dark, in the cold among the wounded and dying. Piled up bodies in front of you to catch the bullets, using the dead for a shield; remember the sound? Of bullets in dead bodies? . . . Remember the flap of a torn curtain in a blasted window, fragment whispering in that awful breeze: never, forever, never, forever. (Shaara, 125 ). This quote was spoken by Chamberlain, it shows his impression of his early combat. He was a citizen rather than a career soldier, unlike many other fighters. The professor argued with Chamberlain, saying that blacks are subhuman. He disagrees with this accusation. However, when seeing the injured black man, he notices what he thinks of as the man s animal like qualities and wonders if the professor s purported subhuman view is
  • 5. Effective Diets We have all heard of different types of diets in fitness magazines, weight loss books, and television commercials, but which diets have been researched and been proven to be effective for weight loss? Two of the most popular diets are a low carbohydrate diet and a low calorie diet. A low carbohydrate diet removes almost all carbohydrates from one s diet. Carbohydrates are a macronutrient that provide the body with energy. A low calorie diet lowers the amount of calories in one s diet by lowering the amount of fats and the total amount of daily calories a person takes in. Low carbohydratediets and low calorie diets are effective for weight loss but can be difficult to follow. Random, controlled studies show that both low carbohydrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A classic example of a low calorie diet would be half a plate of vegetables, a small side of beans or rice, and a lean cut on meat like chicken or beef. So a great side effect of these diets is that a person is forced to eat healthier. Both diets are effective for weight loss but can be difficult to follow for several reasons. Both diets can be difficult to follow if a person is eating out at fast food restaurants and are not cooking their own food. Some restaurants are now trying to cater to these diets, but most are high in carbohydrates and calories. When followed correctly both diets can make most people feel fatigued and moody because the body has to use stored fat as energy. Low carbohydrate diets are more difficult to follow, because a person s insulin levels are lowered in the body. This is because of the lack of carbohydrates, which causes more food cravings and less energy. This is a good sign that the diets are working. While priorities of the PSAC tend to shift according to the priority concerns of the membership, and according to changes in the workplace and the labor force they also tend to stay the same. The core roots of the PSAC and of labor unions in general are that workers deserve a say in the conditions of their labour. As I live in a city with a large amount of variable shift workers for example in the auto industry, nursing and law enforcement and other cities like mine, the need for variable child care is of great importance. The main reason for its success is because the jokes have kept the audience laughing whether they watched it in 1975 or just saw the comedy for the first time yesterday. Monty Python and the Holy Grail would fall under two categories of comedy, a satire and a parody. In contemporary usage, a parody is a work that imitates another work in order to; ridicule, ironically comment on, or poke fun at the work itself; the subject of the work, the author or fictional voice of the parody, or another subject. This is parodied in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur and his band, constantly run away for bad situations (the bombardment of random farm animals on them at the French castle and the massacre of many of their men by a vicious rabbit). On a side note In Medieval times during battle opposing sides would often hurtle dead animal carcasses into their enemy s camp or castle to spread disease. Another scene that is used much in the same way is the one where Robin runs away from a three headed monster as background music sings of brave Sir Robin. A different instance where the movie satirizes the Knights courage in a negligent way is when King Arthur cuts off the limbs of a black knight that will not let him pass in the forest. Even without any legs, the knight still continues to badmouth Arthur in hopes that he will fight him. This scene is paralleled in a more serious way in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. The Green Knight obliges and nicks him across the neck. (Tolkien) Courtly love was the idea that love worshipped from afar was superlative, and that only noble people were worthy of love. Both Coetzee and Williams present stereotypical relationships between men and women, with men typically being the alpha males, while women being the so called victims . Oppression is the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner which causes the feeling of being heavily burdened, mentally or physically, by troubles, adverse conditions or people, and anxiety . Four themes that are included within this essay are; women s reaction to male power; desire between men and women; male instincts and women s dependence on male power. These relate to each other as they all come back to the idea that a womanneeds a manin order to function which was a general expectation during the times both this play and novel were set in. A key theme in both texts is women s reaction to male power, a man having a considerable degree of power over women is seen as the normality in A Streetcar Named Desire, and therefore it is not fought against. By comparison; the balance of power is challenged in Disgrace whereby Lucy, Melanie and Soraya are all making a living for themselves, without the aid of male protection. On the other hand, Melanie is a student, most likely supported by her father, a dominant male figure. Nonetheless, it is undeniable that men are seen as physically and mentally stronger than women in both of the texts. Mathematics has greatly advanced since the time of Zeno and Aristotle and this has brought to light another way to counter Zeno s paradoxes. With the creation of calculus, Zeno s paradox has been more or less resolved. The calculus solution to this paradox considers the infinite sequence of ВЅ, Вј, 1/8, ..., 1/2^n, which is an infinite geometric sequence. Geometric sequences have a formula of ∑_(n=1)^в€ ћв–’гЂ–(гЂ– 1/2гЂ—^i )гЂ—=1 were the number of half steps are balanced out by the increasingly short amount of time needed to journey through all those distances. However, this is a convergence of an infinite series, which means that the sum of this can be approximated very closely to one if you add up enough terms. This mathematical explanation seemed to suffice for a lot of people, since the sum of all of those terms can be approximated closely enough to a doable number to justify motion being an actual thing. However, if we take a closer look at Zeno s paradox, the problem was not that the runner wouldn t get close to the final point, point B. The problem was that the runner would never actually manage to reach that final point because no matter how small the distance between the runner and the final point, the distance can still be divisible by half and therefore there would never be a final point were the runner would confidentially reach point B. Because the calculus equation can only approximate very closely to the final point, but never the actual point, this solution is still not the correct

We took off from the house, in Fulton, Missouri. It was about an hour and a half drive to get to Six Flags in St. Louis. We finally got there, the lines were super long, and the park was packed already at about eleven in the morning. Me and my little sister were both extremely excited to get past the long line, since it was both of our first time being there. We walk through the gate, and my heart instantly dropped on spot. The rides were super big. With loops and corkscrews, and that made me go from excited to scared quick.I was only about ten years old; therefore, I was not able to ride that many rides, and I was kind of relieved to hear that from my family. Since I was too young and too short to ride any rides, me and my sister went to the water park. The rides were still really big and scary, but also very fun at the same time, there was quite a few cool water slides that I

There are three major elements that students face in university that reinforce each other and lead to stress. These three connected experiences can lead to them developing a mental illness if the stress becomes long term. Firstly, when the academic pressure and work load for students rises when they come to university, they will feel stressed. Secondly, since university is expensive, it may be very stressful for students to pay for tuition and living costs. From sitting in zoo exhibits to being paraded around in flashy circuses, animals, especially exotic ones, have drawn large audiences. A close look at a ferocious lion or a dancing elephant wearing a headdress is often what captivates people, since these spectacles are often unusual and fascinating. However, for lions to be viewed up close and elephants to dance, they must be held captive and trained for desired behavior. This captivity and training raises a question: is captivity detrimental to global animal ecology and health? Many animal activists claim that captivity is abusive, but animal entertainment organizations, such as zoos, circuses, and animal theme parks, promote environmental health through ecological education of children and adults as well as funding research for conservation. During SeaWorld commercials, orcas and sea lions playfully splash around in crystal blue waters. Likewise, zoos display animals in beautiful habitats, yet many of the animals natural habitats are depleting due to acid rain, ozone depletion, global warming, the destruction of the world s rain forests, and phytoplankton blooms and coral bleaching (Bonner 81). These man created global issues are forcing several animals to the brink of extinction. Launched in nineteen ninety, the license plate has generated significant funding for Florida panthers: License plate sales raised $2.66 million in nineteen ninety eight to nineteen ninety nine and $2.49 million in nineteen ninety nine to two thousand. According to state statute, the Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund should be used to increase panther food sources, determine conflicts between public use and panther survival, maintain genetic variability, and support management and enforcement activities that protect panther habitat, in addition to educating the public about panthers and their conservation and working towards reestablishing panthers. (Keats) In Ode to A Nightingale, John Keats is the narrator who is in a state of drowsiness and numbness when he sees a nightingale and then goes on to explain his encounter with the bird. Although the surface level meaning of the poem is a man expressing his thought to and about a bird, there is a deeper meaning that can be seen when you investigate the literary devices used. Keats uses imagery, tone, and symbolism to display the theme of pain and inner conflict between life and death. Imagery is seen all throughout the poem, but can be seen specifically when Keats is referencing death. Through the uses of the word hemlock which is a poison made of herbs, and Lethe which is, in Greek mythology, a river in Hades (the underworld). Souls about to be reincarnated drank from it to forget their past lives. (Melani) These words, along with others, paint a distinct picture of death and forms a very dark image of Keats inner thoughts. In the 2nd Stanza, Keats describes the real world with words such as Flora which is the goddess of flowers and fertility. (Melani) and Hippocrene which is, in Greek mythology, a spring sacred to the Muses, located on Mt.Helicon. Drinking its waters inspired poets. Some places such as, the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa and southern Asia were all very common places for colonization not only just for United Kingdom but the rest of Europe. Beginning in the 1700 s the British started to gain economic relationships with India. The British East India Company set up a massive trading network and thrived off of an abundance of resources and highly demanded goods that they found in India. Indian cotton, silk, peppers, spices, and indigo were extremely successful in European trading markets. This success in the trading markets fueled English interest in India and led to expansion into mainland India. Weak Mughal rule allowed for the British East India company to gain more control and political power in their colonies. After a period of harsh, militaristic rule from the trading company, the sepoys fought back to re establish Indian political control and to rid India of the British. Queen Victoria sent troops to fight the rebellion and successfully put it down. This led to more and more British politicians sent to India to rule and to encourage western education and religion. Series of nationalist movements occurred to help bring back Indian culture. These movements never caught on with Indian civilians until the mid to late 20th century.
