Related To The Golden Ratio
This short report and presentation related to the Golden Ratio. The Golden Ratio has interested
mathematicians for a long time. The Golden Ratio is a special number that is defined mathematically
from
which produces 1.618033989..., commonly used as the approximation 1.618. There is interesting fact
that digits just keep on going to infinity, with no pattern. Mathematically, the Golden Ratio is tends to
be an irrational number.
Two numbers tend to be golden if the ratio of their sum to the bigger number is equal as the larger to
the smaller number. In other words, this relationship could be expressed with the following equation:
In the case of a rectangle, if k is the length of the longer sides, whereas m is the length of the shorter
sides, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, this number can be found in the architecture of many ancient buildings such as the
Parthenon and the Great Pyramids. Some investigations of the Acropolis, including the Parthenon,
established that majority of its proportions mostly are close to the golden ratio. It could be concluded
that architects knew the golden ratio, that is why classical buildings and their elements are
proportioned according to the golden ratio. The design of the Parthenon was created according to the
Golden ratio, as illustrated in the picture 1. Another famous example of usage the Golden ratio in
architecture is the Acropolis of Athens. The dimensions of the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is
approximately 4,600 years old, are also based on the Golden Ratio. When it comes to art, there are
several illustrations, which can prove that the Golden ratio is used in the arts as well. For instance,
Leonardo da Vinci s paintings in De Divina Proportione (On the Divine Proportion) and Mona Lisa
employ the Golden ratio in their geometric equivalents. Also Mondrian used the Golden number in his
masterpiece as well as Salvador Dali in his The Sacrament of the Last

Influential Factors for an Effective Leader
Were CP China s changes to the CMF marketing launch program justifiable?
Burton s objective was to market Colgate Max Fresh (CMF) as global venture. Each country had its
own assumptions and trends that would make certain products popular. For CMF to appeal to a
Chinese market it had to investigate and target those specific selling appeals.
Del Levin, who was in charge of conducting R D for Colgate in Asia, discovered that that whilst a
potentially huge market existed for the product it being that Asia had a large freshness segment it had
to be marketed in a particular way in order to best appeal to the Asian consumer. Firstly, the name
itself Colgate Max Fresh did not appeal as well as other names in China would; the name was
therefore changed to Icy Fresh . Secondly, original marketing that used breath strips was meaningless
to an Asian market and would have been better modified to cooling crystals which was more relevant
and meaningful to Chinese consumers
Consumer surveys targeted to the Asian public carefully investigated the various nuances that would
make the product successful in China and, to that end, discovered that freshness was still a relatively
new concept to this particular market and that, therefore, careful research would have to be done in
order to precisely assess potential selling points. It would have to be the youth who would be targeted
and they would be targeted at an emotional level. Emily Proctor and her role were unknown in China,

Essay Native American Relations with The United States
Native American Relations with The United States
What were the significant treaties, policies, and events that defined US Government and Native
American Relations? How did the Native American respond to these treaties, polices, and events
historically? How did these treaties, policies, and events affect the subsistence, religion, political, and
social structures of the Native American people? I will answer these questions through the
examination of two centuries of US history in six time periods that define clear changes in the
relationship between the Native American and the US Government.

One of the critical tasks that faced the new nation of the United States was establishing a healthy ...

The Constitution further enumerates these powers denied to the states in Article I section x. The state
of Georgia challenged the federal government s power over states rights, a precursor to the Civil War,
when it challenged the trust relationship and the autonomy of the Cherokee. Supreme Court Justice
John Marshall in three decisions (Marshall Trilogy) upheld the United States federal power, defined
the responsibility of the doctrine of federal trust, and clarified the sovereignty of Indian nations:
Johnson v McIntosh 1823, Cherokee v Georgia 1831, Worcester v Georgia 1832.
The new government wanted to keep peace with the Indians and used trade as its device. It was hoped
that the interaction between the white settlers and Indians would create a dependence of the Indian for
white goods and soothe the tensions of the white settlers through familiarity via social interaction.
President George Washington proposed government regulated and operated trading houses. The
Government Trading Act of April 18, 1796 was established for carrying on a liberal trade with the

Social Stratification in Manifesto of the Communist...
Social Stratification in Manifesto of the Communist Party by Karl Marx and Max Weber s Class,
Status and Party
Social stratification is the ranking of members of society in a way
that some of its members are regarded as superior and others as inferior.
This theory is certainly debated in present time and was debated as far
back as 1776 when Karl Marx presented his theory in his Manifesto of
the Communist Party . In the 1880 s, Max Weber combatted that document
in his own Class, Status and Party.
Karl Marx believed that social standing or rank was based solely on
class position. For example, an owner of a business was regarded far above
a worker in that same business. Class position would also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people living a higher style of life usually shy away from those of a lower
economic status. You do not often encounter children from wealthy
Manhattan families playing with children from Harlem. The third part
of Weber s theory on social stratification was power, which Weber defined as
the chances of having other people do what you want them to do regardless
of their own wishes.
Marx would not have argued with Weber about the three factors
being in existence; however, he probably would state that the class of the
person would determine how much status and power a person would have.
Weber agreed with Marx in the fact that in a capitalistic society, class had
the biggest influence on a person s position and that status and power were
given more to the higher classes. Weber said, however, that there were
other societies in which this was not true, such as in the Estates System of
Medieval Europe and the Caste System of India. In the Estates System,
power was the most important factor of social rank, followed by class and
status. The best

Jimmy Savile Interview Analysis
INTERVIEW ANALYSIS The interview consisted of one participant. I have conducted a semi
structure with this interview, detailing the representations of how CSA is portrayed by the media. The
interviewee was given four different media articles, majority of the media items focused on the Jimmy
Savile scandal and just a small mention of historic CSA: (Historical Child Abuse: Key Investigations

delayed for a third time by the Independent, Jimmy Savile: Timeline of his sexual abuse and its
uncovering by the Guardian and Scotland Yard accuses the BBC of hampering its investigations into
historical child sexual abuse by the Telegraph). I instantly feel a wave of dread flow through me when

Analysis Of A House Divided
A filmed named A House Divided by John Kent Harrison was based on a true story where Amanda
America Dickson, daughter of David Dickson (a white slave owner) and Julia (a black slave owner),
was born a fair white skin. Dickson and her mother raised her without knowing her true mother.
Amanda grown but Dickson died so he left all his estate to her daughter Amanda. However, Dickson s
brother, Henry, knew Amanda s true identity and he contest David Dickson last will. Mr. Dickson set
an attorney, Charles Dubose, to represent Amanda in the court; to fight for her inheritance from her
father. Even though later in the story Mr. Dubose realizes the true identity of Amanda, he still
continues to help her win her case. In the end, the council decided that Amanda will be keeping the
estate that her late father gave to her. One of my reaction to the movie was about the role of Sam
Waterson as David Dickson where even though he was given an unlikable role as a slave owner, he
was seen as a sympathetic character even after he died. Slave owners Georgia are known to be cruel,
brutal and they see their slaves as a property. They would treat their slaves inhumanely; however,
David Dickson was seen as a loving father, even though he knows that her daughter is a mixed race,
he listens to Julia (a black slave, mother of Amanda) to give rewards to slaves whoever works hard
and eventually reward them with a small plot of land for them to grow crops for their own family and
entrust her. After

Relational Turbulence Model Essay
Social support is one of the key tenants in anyone s life. Social support proves to be more important
for those who are dealing with mental health issues such as depression. The relational turbulence
model is very important in understanding how the relationship between those with depression and
their families. The relationship turbulence model Knobloch and Delaney (2012) implies that the model
shows how people with depressive symptoms should handle relational uncertainty and interference
from their partners. Relational uncertainty can be defined as how unsure people are with the status of
their relationship with someone (Knobloch and Delaney 2012). It is important to understand this
model in order to comprehend how those with depression are affected by the people around them. In
this paper I will be researching in what ways do relational uncertainty and emotional support affect
younger and older populations with depression. It is important to understand the difference between
age cohorts in terms of dealing with their depression.
According to Stahl et al. (2017) a substantial amount of older adults live on their own, in 2010 it was

associated with good mental health (Stahl et al. 2017; 1065). It can be argued that community
involvement and being mildly integrated with society led to a better quality of life for older adults

TV Dilemmas

Remote Type A: Fully functional. Buttons capable of changing channels and volume. Belongs to my

Remote Type B: Defunct. Buttons have far long forgotten how to serve their purpose. Belongs to my
father.
I remember the arrival of this TV in my house. A fine, summer day, a large cardboard box landed in
my parent s room. From behind unfurling gray of his cigarette puff, my father boasted, It s a 51 cm
color television. It was an upgrade from the old, 13 inch black and white television I grew up

parent s room, the glasses on the kitchen counter, or my mother s teeth.
The TV in my house could drown out the anger of two screaming adults. It knew how to mask my
father s drunken slurs and my mother s silent tears. It could hide the shrieking wails of two young
children.
The TV in my house was also a battlefield as my parents fought over whether to turn it on or off. With
only two rooms, one where we could sleep and the other where we could cook and eat, my parent s

Relationship Between Babylonians And Babylonians
Mesopotamia is one of the oldest civilizations. The civilization contained many city states and
Babylon is one of them. At its height, Babylon was one of the largest, most important cities of the
ancient world. It came to be understood in Akkadian as bab ili, meaning gate of the god, also written
in Sumerian as ka dingir ra, which has the same meaning. Around 2050 2000 BC, the great kingdom
of the Sumerians was attacked by external invaders. Sumeria had been a powerful kingdom in the
western part of Asia, and it had roughly occupied the land that one day had become Babylonia .The
history of Babylonia is considered to have started with Hammurabi, who became the king of the city
of Baby lon in 1792 BC. Hammurabi enlarged his kingdom and established ... Show more content on

They used more than 350 signs in their writing. They used to write on soft clay tablets by pen made of
bone and bamboo. Then they baked tablets on sun shine and kept one after another. During the reign
of Hammurabi, the famous Emperor of Babylon, education spread in the look and corner of that land.
He established many schools for the students. The Babylonian boys put emphasis on writing, reading
and Mathematics and girls were fond of song and dance. From the ruins of a Babylonia an inspiring
sentence was written on the wall of school. That sentence was He who shall excel in tablet writing
shall shine like the sun . This shows the love of the Babylonians for education.
In ancient writings the Hanging Gardens of Babylon were first described by Berossus, a Chaldaean
priest who lived in the late 4th century BCE. In his book Babyloniaca, written around 280 BCE, he
describes the gardens and attributes them to the great Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II. Many other
Greek historians went on to provide detailed descriptions of the gardens, citing either Berossus work,
or from accounts of other ancients.

Difference Between Humanistic Geography and Positivistic...
Difference Between Humanistic Geography and Positivistic Approach
There are definite differences between positivism and humanistic methods that geographers use.
Positivism, which has it s roots in quantitative theories, excludes the human element and includes such
fundamentals as cumulative data. Humanistic geography has it s roots in qualitative procedures and
focuses on the combination of research with the people.
Positivism is a rigorous and formal way to collect and analyze data that was developed around the
1960 s by Auguste Comte (1798 1857) who is also credited with formalizing it. Studies are clear and
straight forward and researchers believe that there is only one method that all sciences should rely on.
Positivism believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the humanistic views there are several different ways of thinking; pragmatism,
phenomenology, existentialism, and idealism. While existentialism and idealism have not been very
influential in geography, pragmatism and phenomenology have been. Pragmatism believes that every
human action is based on human perceptions and experiences. The focus is on groups or societies
rather then on individuals. Phenomenology believes that knowledge is subjective and that the
understanding of the individual is crucial. Researchers who use this method need to be able to be
sympathetic and have a deep understanding of the issue being researched. Humanistic researchers
believe that it is impossible to separate the mind and reality and therefore there cannot be a set of
standards and reproducible methods to be used. These geographers will use a more loosely structured
set of ideas and consider the individual being studied as well as the geographer s own intuition and
interpretation. One prominent geographer named Yi Fu Tuan, who was born in 1930, was critical of
geography that did not include the humanistic factor. Landscapes, he believed, were often a result of
the humans living around or near them. For example, gardens were a persons attempt to control the
environment. The humanistic approach allows the scholar to explore a wide range of human
experiences, but it lacks rigorous procedures of objective

Dialectical Behavior Therapy And Mindfulness Essay
Dialectical Behavior Therapy Mindfulness Mindfulness is another way of meditation. Meditation was
used to seek to improve one s psychological or physical health, or spiritual growth. (Brantley, 2007).
The history of Mindfulness comes from Buddhism and his search for enlightenment and a foundation
of the four noble truths. The Buddha teaching focus on the four noble truths which consist of knowing
suffering exists, there is a cause of suffering, there is cessation of suffering and there is a path that
leads to the cessation of suffering. (Van Gordon, 2015). The four noble truths were not only there to
represent the Buddha s experiential understanding of suffering, but also to express the truth (Van
Gordon, 2015). Studies of Buddhism and the Four Noble Truths teach us that there is always going to
be suffering in our life but to find ways to overcome suffering (Tsering, 2005). Over the years
Mindfulness has been a way to treat a variety of health related conditions anywhere form stress,
anxiety and even cancer (M.Orsillo, 2010). Practicing mindfulness does not relate directly to any
specific faith or religious beliefs. Mindfulness inside the practice of social work was implemented to
help those with suicidal thoughts and borderline personality disorder. DBT teaches individuals the
skill to not be judgmental. Being non judgmental can be a difficult skill these days because we were
raised or taught to have different thoughts and points of views (Brantley, 2007).

Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet
Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s
ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama
upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order
to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The
Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate
Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my opinion, hints
at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that concludes the play.

From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future
actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of
revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the
entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account.
More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies
(transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching (
Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles
internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s

Hamlet s madness to Ophelia s love, his detection that Though this be madness, yet there is method in

Persuasive Essay On Hiking Community
Imagine you are hiking down a trail that you have gone down many times before when all of the
sudden an avalanche starts coming down from the side of the mountain. A bolder hits your leg and it is
now trapped under this rock formation with no way of escape. Your mind flashes back to this morning
over breakfast when you decided to go on this hike but thought, not telling anyone about your
whereabouts was a good decision. The importance of communicating where you plan to hike and
when you are going to do so are crucial to your safety and the peace of mind of your loved ones. As
just stated, you could get stuck under a rock or other land formation where there is no easy option for
escape. Another possibility is the weather or just your location could be an awful place to hike that
day. Lastly, the wildlife in any area is very unpredictable especially depending on the season and they
can attack you at any moment if they sense a threat. To begin, getting stuck under a boulder or other
land abnormality is a very serious and prevalent problem in the hiking community. There have been
many cases where people are just going for a calm hike when out of nowhere they get trapped under
something or maybe they just fall from a slippery piece of ice on the ground and they are not found for

Lord Byron Analysis
Satire mocks a person or an event by using humor, irony, and exaggeration for the purpose to expose
the true identity of someone or something. In the early 19th century, Lord Byron, also known as
George Gordon, a leading figure in the Romantic Movement was heavily involved in satire because he
saw great poets such as Walter Scott, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and William Wordsworth betraying
their principles. The poets also lost their passion towards the Romantic Movement. In addition, the
usage of satire fits the personality of Byron because he always found his experiences in life humorous
and never lost touch with reality, which allowed him to grow as an influential poet. Furthermore, Lord
Byron s mission was to use satire to entertain his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

enjoyed knowing that he is well known and that he has the attention of his readers. Despite Byron s
actions in his works, he is a passionate man of literature and esteems being a hero in the eyes of his
audience as he entertains them. In short, he loved to be the superstar of the movement and he enjoyed
all the attention that he was receiving. Since Byron started writing satire, he provoked poets that were
alive during his time because he was demeaning their works. In addition, when he received
humiliating feedback from his first publication back in 1808, Byron in response decided to write the
famous satirical poem, English Bards and Scotch Reviewers. The main reason that leads him to write
the literary work is that he became obsessed with his own image and felt embarrassed with the
criticism that was given to him. Furthermore, Byron was warned by his close friends not to publish his
literature with his name or the result would be facing the consequences by other Romantic critics. For
example, he thought that the current poets had the influence to end his career. After thinking about the
outcomes, Byron decided to publish the work anonymously and only target those that had given him
bad criticism. He highlighted how

Osteoporosis In Sport
For most female teenage athletes, staying healthy is one of the key reasons they participate in
athletics. Playing sports helps with things such as building higher self esteem as well as improved
physical and mental health. Unfortunately, some young female athletes are also experiencing the
female athlete triad. This is composed of three issues. First, there are eating disorders, such as
anorexia or bulimia. Second, the girl may experience irregular menstrual cycles, and in some cases,
the loss of a period for three or more months, known as ameorrhea. The final issue is weakened bones,

When buying into the company you sign a contract to firstly buy into the company, and then you have
to pay royalties and a certain percentage of your earnings back to the head company. A positive of
franchise agreements is that it allows companies to enter into the foreign market place with out having
to put too much money into it. For example, 7 elevens in Australia are all franchises, the fist few
franchises in Australia would have been set up as an experiment to see whether the Australian public
would embrace the new chain store. The feedback would have been that Australia was pro 7 eleven
and now you can walk through the city without seeing one on every corner. Another positive of selling
your company as a franchise is that you can earn royalties. Different franchises have different royalty
schemes, many expect you to pay a certain fee for the name each year and then pay them a percentage
of the earnings. 7 eleven was taking 51 cents of every dollar made. This allows the head office to

The Prevalence Of Manifestations Of Falciparum Malaria Essay
Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of neurological manifestations of
falciparum malaria and the outcome of falciparum malaria in general and of neurological involvement
of falciparum malaria in particular.
Materials and Methods:
A prospective cross sectional hospital based study of 125 adult falciparum malaria patients using
simple, direct, standardized questionnaire including history, lab investigations and neurological
examination from January to December 2014.
Results:
The commonest age group affected was 15 30 years (62.4%). 48.6% presented with neurological
manifestations on admission. Altered sensorium was the most frequent neurological manifestation,
followed by convulsions and hiccups. The mortality rate was very high with neurological
manifestations. Case fatality rate was highest with convulsion. Perception about neurological
manifestation was poor among tribal. Health care providers also failed to diagnose on initial visit.
Conclusion:
Falciperum malaria with neurological involvement is associated with increased mortality. By
documenting different neurological patterns of falciparum malaria mortality and morbidity rates can
be reduced by early diagnosis and management. Tribals and health personnel should be trained to
make them aware of the different neurological presentations of this disabling disease.
Key words:
Falciparum malaria, neurological complications, mortality.

Persuasive Essay On The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
There has been much research in the effort of how to effectively clean and recycle the plastic that has
accumulated in the Great Pacific garbage patch. Many studies have found that the process of actually
trying to scoop up what is now a plastic soup like substance could pose a number of issues. Some
researchers say that the garbage patch could possibly be half the size of the United States which would
be a huge financial challenge for any country to undertake. Charles Moore, an internationally
recognized expert on marine plastic pollution and the man who discovered the vortex, says cleaning
up the garbage patch would bankrupt any country that tried it (Moore). Not only is it a huge financial
challenge, but because the Great Pacific garbage patch is located a great distance from any country s
coastline, there has not been a nation to step up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earth is drowning in plastic and it is time that we really dig deep on this issue as it s already affecting
the oceans ecosystem. Laws should be passed to make it illegal to dump trash in the ocean and
alternative methods of trash disposal need to be sought. Used water bottles, plastic bags, coffee cups,
and fish nets make up a huge portion of the Great Pacific garbage patch, this can be avoided by simply
passing legislation to make it illegal to dump trash in the ocean. Raising awareness starts with
informing your family and friends of what they can do to help reduce their plastic usage and explain to
them why it is harmful to the environment. Reduce your everyday plastic usage such as sandwich
bags, water bottles, and plastic utensils. These efforts may not sound like much to combat such a huge
global issue, but in this instance educating others and developing good habits is our most powerful
weapon if we to live in a cleaner, safer

Social And Cultural Events In The 20th And 21st Century
Education has been affected greatly by social and cultural events of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Because education follows the moves of society, the need for new skills in life and in the workplace
change and students can be career and college ready. This, however, has not always been the case. The
first of two main cultural and social events focused on are the events that led up to the Brown vs. the
Board of Education Supreme Court case, which resulted in the desegregation of schools. The second
are the effects that the Great Recession had on the education system. In the 1940s the Civil Rights
Movement began gaining strength and the country began moving slowly to desegregation. In 1947, in
the face of much opposition, Jackie Robinson became the first African American baseball player.
When he traveled to the south he was denied access into hotels, restaurants, and other venues because
of this race. Because Robinson was in the army the armed forces became desegregated in 1948 and
eventually led to the elimination of segregated schools (Schwartz, 2003). During this era African
American students were in separate but equal schools although many black schools suffered from poor
facilities and a lack of funding and other amenities that were provided at white schools. Black students
were often bussed great distances to attend school. In 1952, the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) lawyers represented the case Brown vs. the Board of
education. This case dealt with the right of a black child to attend an all white school close to her
home instead of being bussed across town to the all black school. Initially, the ruling was in favor of
the Board of Education, but the adverse effects of separate but equal schooling on the black
community were clearly shown (Schwartz, 2003). African Americans were also held back by not
having the right to vote. A literacy exam was required to be passed in order to vote. Because of their
schooling restrictions, many African Americans were illiterate, which denied them of the right to vote.
A workshop for the United Nations drew several community members and teachers from the south
(Horton, Freire, 1990). One member who attended

Multi Sport Training Research Paper
When you approach your multisport training, the best way to answer your questions is to better
understand the principles behind the work you are putting in to improve. These are seven basic
principles of exercise or sport training you will want to keep in mind:
Individuality
Everyone is different and responds differently to training. Some people are able to handle higher
volumes of training while others may respond better to higher intensities. This is based on a
combination of factors like genetic ability, predominance of muscle fiber types, other factors in your
life, chronological or athletic age, and mental state.
Specificity
Improving your ability in a sport is very specific. If you want to be a great pitcher, running laps will

Your muscles will atrophy and the cellular adaptations like increased capillaries (blood flow to the
muscles) and mitochondria density will reverse. You can slow this rate of loss substantially by
conducting a maintenance/reduced program of training during periods where life gets in the way, and
is why just about all sports coaches ask their athletes to stay active in the offseason.
The principles of specificity, progression, overload, adaptation, and reversibility are why practicing
frequently and consistently are so important if you want to improve your performance. Missed
sessions cannot really be made up within the context of a single season. They are lost opportunities for
improvement. Skipping your long ride on weekend A means you can t or shouldn t go as far as
originally planned on weekend B (progression overload). Skipping your Monday swim means your
swimming skills and muscles won t be honed or stressed that day (specificity). Missing a week due to
a vacation sets you back more than one week (adaptation and reversibility). Apply these principles to
your training to get a better understanding of your body and how to achieve

Research Task 1.1 Wgu C253
Kobie Lee Western Governors University C257 February 19th, 2017 A. 1. Aggregate data can be used
to detect patterns or similarities from numerous groups of patients which help healthcare providers
determine plan of care or prevention of illnesses and better management of disease processes.
Aggregate data can help patients and physicians keep track of vital signs and blood sugar on a daily
basis so if there is a need for a different dose or type of medication, it is caught and corrected early.
Aggregate data can also be used in research as specific information can easily be drawn from a large
data bank for analytics and research purposes. Disadvantages of aggregate data include some patients

Advantages of comparative data according to Cerrato,P (2013) include completing tasks like

Human Understanding As A Means By The World Can Be...
Philosophers have always been concerned to establish a means by which the world can be understood
objectively. The problem is that it is difficult to establish the extent to which the physical world exists
independently of perception (Brock and Mares, 2007, p. 34). Philosophers identify a perceptual barrier
preventing knowledge of whether or not what can be perceived is an accurate or literal representation
of the true nature of reality; a barrier known in philosophical discourse as the veil of perception
(Bennett, 1968, p. 98). In 1689 Locke wrote An Essay Concerning Human Understanding as a means
of explaining this barrier, using a theory categorised by philosophers as a form of representational
realism (Brock Mares, 2007, p. 49). In order to analyse the potential (or otherwise) of this approach, a
philosopher needs to understand what Locke intended by his thesis of primary, secondary and tertiary
qualities and consider the extent to which these may be inherently part of an object, and thereby the
degree to which that object might correspond in reality with the way it is perceived. Locke s work has
been significantly critiqued (either to extend the ideas, or to refute them) ever since its publication.
Currently the technologically augmented insights of information theory responses to Locke s Essay
use scientific evidence as a basis for both accepting and refuting Locke s theory, making it a
perennially stimulating subject.
Locke s intention was to explain how the

The Film of Nixon
The Film of Nixon In an adventure though time, one of the great moments to look at is, the Nixon era
in American history. He was the president of the United States of America (U.S.A). He lead the U.S.A
in cover ups, war, lies, and so much more. One of the best way to see what he was like is the movie of
Nixon. It accurately covers most of the events in Nixon s life as president. This will explain the movie,
eight points from the movie that are unlawful and/or unconstitutional, how this movie affected me,
and what I think of the movie. Now with out further due, Turn off your cell phone, quite down, the
movies about to begin. The movie does not apologize for Nixon, and holds him accountable for the
disgrace he brought to the presidency. In the title role, Anthony Hopkins looks and sounds only
generally like the 37th president. This is not an impersonation; Hopkins gives us a deep, resonant
performance that creates a man instead of imitating an image. The movie also talks about the infamous
18 1/2 minute gap on the White House tapes symbolizes a dark hole inside the president s soul, a
secret that Nixon hints at but never reveals. What is implied is that somehow a secret CIA operation
against Cuba, started with Nixon s knowledge during the last years of the Eisenhower administration,
turned on itself and somehow led to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The movie doesn t suggest
that Nixon ordered or desired Kennedy s death, but that he half understood the process by

  • 2. Related To The Golden Ratio This short report and presentation related to the Golden Ratio. The Golden Ratio has interested mathematicians for a long time. The Golden Ratio is a special number that is defined mathematically from which produces 1.618033989..., commonly used as the approximation 1.618. There is interesting fact that digits just keep on going to infinity, with no pattern. Mathematically, the Golden Ratio is tends to be an irrational number. Two numbers tend to be golden if the ratio of their sum to the bigger number is equal as the larger to the smaller number. In other words, this relationship could be expressed with the following equation: In the case of a rectangle, if k is the length of the longer sides, whereas m is the length of the shorter sides, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historically, this number can be found in the architecture of many ancient buildings such as the Parthenon and the Great Pyramids. Some investigations of the Acropolis, including the Parthenon, established that majority of its proportions mostly are close to the golden ratio. It could be concluded that architects knew the golden ratio, that is why classical buildings and their elements are proportioned according to the golden ratio. The design of the Parthenon was created according to the Golden ratio, as illustrated in the picture 1. Another famous example of usage the Golden ratio in architecture is the Acropolis of Athens. The dimensions of the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is approximately 4,600 years old, are also based on the Golden Ratio. When it comes to art, there are several illustrations, which can prove that the Golden ratio is used in the arts as well. For instance, Leonardo da Vinci s paintings in De Divina Proportione (On the Divine Proportion) and Mona Lisa employ the Golden ratio in their geometric equivalents. Also Mondrian used the Golden number in his masterpiece as well as Salvador Dali in his The Sacrament of the Last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Influential Factors for an Effective Leader Were CP China s changes to the CMF marketing launch program justifiable? Burton s objective was to market Colgate Max Fresh (CMF) as global venture. Each country had its own assumptions and trends that would make certain products popular. For CMF to appeal to a Chinese market it had to investigate and target those specific selling appeals. Del Levin, who was in charge of conducting R D for Colgate in Asia, discovered that that whilst a potentially huge market existed for the product it being that Asia had a large freshness segment it had to be marketed in a particular way in order to best appeal to the Asian consumer. Firstly, the name itself Colgate Max Fresh did not appeal as well as other names in China would; the name was therefore changed to Icy Fresh . Secondly, original marketing that used breath strips was meaningless to an Asian market and would have been better modified to cooling crystals which was more relevant and meaningful to Chinese consumers Consumer surveys targeted to the Asian public carefully investigated the various nuances that would make the product successful in China and, to that end, discovered that freshness was still a relatively new concept to this particular market and that, therefore, careful research would have to be done in order to precisely assess potential selling points. It would have to be the youth who would be targeted and they would be targeted at an emotional level. Emily Proctor and her role were unknown in China, and, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How did the Native American respond to these treaties, polices, and events historically? How did these treaties, policies, and events affect the subsistence, religion, political, and social structures of the Native American people? I will answer these questions through the examination of two centuries of US history in six time periods that define clear changes in the relationship between the Native American and the US Government. The Constitution further enumerates these powers denied to the states in Article I section x. The state of Georgia challenged the federal government s power over states rights, a precursor to the Civil War, when it challenged the trust relationship and the autonomy of the Cherokee. Supreme Court Justice John Marshall in three decisions (Marshall Trilogy) upheld the United States federal power, defined the responsibility of the doctrine of federal trust, and clarified the sovereignty of Indian nations: Johnson v McIntosh 1823, Cherokee v Georgia 1831, Worcester v Georgia 1832. The new government wanted to keep peace with the Indians and used trade as its device. It was hoped that the interaction between the white settlers and Indians would create a dependence of the Indian for white goods and soothe the tensions of the white settlers through familiarity via social interaction. Social Stratification in Manifesto of the Communist Party by Karl Marx and Max Weber s Class, Status and Party Social stratification is the ranking of members of society in a way that some of its members are regarded as superior and others as inferior. This theory is certainly debated in present time and was debated as far back as 1776 when Karl Marx presented his theory in his Manifesto of the Communist Party . In the 1880 s, Max Weber combatted that document in his own Class, Status and Party. Karl Marx believed that social standing or rank was based solely on class position. Marx would not have argued with Weber about the three factors being in existence; however, he probably would state that the class of the person would determine how much status and power a person would have. Weber agreed with Marx in the fact that in a capitalistic society, class had the biggest influence on a person s position and that status and power were given more to the higher classes. Weber said, however, that there were other societies in which this was not true, such as in the Estates System of Medieval Europe and the Caste System of India. Analysis Of A House Divided A filmed named A House Divided by John Kent Harrison was based on a true story where Amanda America Dickson, daughter of David Dickson (a white slave owner) and Julia (a black slave owner), was born a fair white skin. Dickson and her mother raised her without knowing her true mother. Amanda grown but Dickson died so he left all his estate to her daughter Amanda. However, Dickson s brother, Henry, knew Amanda s true identity and he contest David Dickson last will. Mr. Dickson set an attorney, Charles Dubose, to represent Amanda in the court; to fight for her inheritance from her father. Even though later in the story Mr. Dubose realizes the true identity of Amanda, he still continues to help her win her case. In the end, the council decided that Amanda will be keeping the estate that her late father gave to her. One of my reaction to the movie was about the role of Sam Waterson as David Dickson where even though he was given an unlikable role as a slave owner, he was seen as a sympathetic character even after he died. Slave owners Georgia are known to be cruel, brutal and they see their slaves as a property. They would treat their slaves inhumanely; however, David Dickson was seen as a loving father, even though he knows that her daughter is a mixed race, he listens to Julia (a black slave, mother of Amanda) to give rewards to slaves whoever works hard and eventually reward them with a small plot of land for them to grow crops for their own family and entrust her. The relational turbulence model is very important in understanding how the relationship between those with depression and their families. The relationship turbulence model Knobloch and Delaney (2012) implies that the model shows how people with depressive symptoms should handle relational uncertainty and interference from their partners. Relational uncertainty can be defined as how unsure people are with the status of their relationship with someone (Knobloch and Delaney 2012). It is important to understand this model in order to comprehend how those with depression are affected by the people around them. In this paper I will be researching in what ways do relational uncertainty and emotional support affect younger and older populations with depression. It is important to understand the difference between age cohorts in terms of dealing with their depression. According to Stahl et al. Difference Between Humanistic Geography and Positivistic Approach There are definite differences between positivism and humanistic methods that geographers use. Positivism, which has it s roots in quantitative theories, excludes the human element and includes such fundamentals as cumulative data. Humanistic geography has it s roots in qualitative procedures and focuses on the combination of research with the people. Positivism is a rigorous and formal way to collect and analyze data that was developed around the 1960 s by Auguste Comte (1798 1857) who is also credited with formalizing it. Within the humanistic views there are several different ways of thinking; pragmatism, phenomenology, existentialism, and idealism. While existentialism and idealism have not been very influential in geography, pragmatism and phenomenology have been. Pragmatism believes that every human action is based on human perceptions and experiences. The focus is on groups or societies rather then on individuals. Phenomenology believes that knowledge is subjective and that the understanding of the individual is crucial. Researchers who use this method need to be able to be sympathetic and have a deep understanding of the issue being researched. Humanistic researchers believe that it is impossible to separate the mind and reality and therefore there cannot be a set of standards and reproducible methods to be used. These geographers will use a more loosely structured set of ideas and consider the individual being studied as well as the geographer s own intuition and interpretation. One prominent geographer named Yi Fu Tuan, who was born in 1930, was critical of geography that did not include the humanistic factor. Landscapes, he believed, were often a result of the humans living around or near them. For example, gardens were a persons attempt to control the environment. • 16. Dialectical Behavior Therapy And Mindfulness Essay Dialectical Behavior Therapy Mindfulness Mindfulness is another way of meditation. Meditation was used to seek to improve one s psychological or physical health, or spiritual growth. (Brantley, 2007). The history of Mindfulness comes from Buddhism and his search for enlightenment and a foundation of the four noble truths. The Buddha teaching focus on the four noble truths which consist of knowing suffering exists, there is a cause of suffering, there is cessation of suffering and there is a path that leads to the cessation of suffering. (Van Gordon, 2015). The four noble truths were not only there to represent the Buddha s experiential understanding of suffering, but also to express the truth (Van Gordon, 2015). Studies of Buddhism and the Four Noble Truths teach us that there is always going to be suffering in our life but to find ways to overcome suffering (Tsering, 2005). Over the years Mindfulness has been a way to treat a variety of health related conditions anywhere form stress, anxiety and even cancer (M.Orsillo, 2010). Practicing mindfulness does not relate directly to any specific faith or religious beliefs. Mindfulness inside the practice of social work was implemented to help those with suicidal thoughts and borderline personality disorder. DBT teaches individuals the skill to not be judgmental. Being non judgmental can be a difficult skill these days because we were raised or taught to have different thoughts and points of views (Brantley, 2007). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my opinion, hints at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that concludes the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account. More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies (transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching ( Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s murder. Although Polonius incorrectly attributes Hamlet s madness to Ophelia s love, his detection that Though this be madness, yet there is method in t (II.ii.223 224) reaffirms his lunacy as not actual craziness but a form of ... The importance of communicating where you plan to hike and when you are going to do so are crucial to your safety and the peace of mind of your loved ones. As just stated, you could get stuck under a rock or other land formation where there is no easy option for escape. Another possibility is the weather or just your location could be an awful place to hike that day. Lastly, the wildlife in any area is very unpredictable especially depending on the season and they can attack you at any moment if they sense a threat. To begin, getting stuck under a boulder or other land abnormality is a very serious and prevalent problem in the hiking community. There have been many cases where people are just going for a calm hike when out of nowhere they get trapped under something or maybe they just fall from a slippery piece of ice on the ground and they are not found for days. These occurrences should not be happening when there is just a simple fix of telling a friend or family member where you are and when you expect to be back home. Aron Ralston, a ... In addition, when he received humiliating feedback from his first publication back in 1808, Byron in response decided to write the famous satirical poem, English Bards and Scotch Reviewers. The main reason that leads him to write the literary work is that he became obsessed with his own image and felt embarrassed with the criticism that was given to him. Furthermore, Byron was warned by his close friends not to publish his literature with his name or the result would be facing the consequences by other Romantic critics. Because education follows the moves of society, the need for new skills in life and in the workplace change and students can be career and college ready. This, however, has not always been the case. The first of two main cultural and social events focused on are the events that led up to the Brown vs. the Board of Education Supreme Court case, which resulted in the desegregation of schools. The second are the effects that the Great Recession had on the education system. In the 1940s the Civil Rights Movement began gaining strength and the country began moving slowly to desegregation. In 1947, in the face of much opposition, Jackie Robinson became the first African American baseball player. When he traveled to the south he was denied access into hotels, restaurants, and other venues because of this race. Because Robinson was in the army the armed forces became desegregated in 1948 and eventually led to the elimination of segregated schools (Schwartz, 2003). During this era African American students were in separate but equal schools although many black schools suffered from poor facilities and a lack of funding and other amenities that were provided at white schools. Black students were often bussed great distances to attend school. In 1952, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) lawyers represented the case Brown vs. the Board of education. This case dealt with the right of a black child to attend an all white school close to her home instead of being bussed across town to the all black school. Initially, the ruling was in favor of the Board of Education, but the adverse effects of separate but equal schooling on the black community were clearly shown (Schwartz, 2003). African Americans were also held back by not having the right to vote. A literacy exam was required to be passed in order to vote. Because of their schooling restrictions, many African Americans were illiterate, which denied them of the right to vote. • 31. Human Understanding As A Means By The World Can Be... Philosophers have always been concerned to establish a means by which the world can be understood objectively. The problem is that it is difficult to establish the extent to which the physical world exists independently of perception (Brock and Mares, 2007, p. 34). Philosophers identify a perceptual barrier preventing knowledge of whether or not what can be perceived is an accurate or literal representation of the true nature of reality; a barrier known in philosophical discourse as the veil of perception (Bennett, 1968, p. 98). In 1689 Locke wrote An Essay Concerning Human Understanding as a means of explaining this barrier, using a theory categorised by philosophers as a form of representational realism (Brock Mares, 2007, p. 49). In order to analyse the potential (or otherwise) of this approach, a philosopher needs to understand what Locke intended by his thesis of primary, secondary and tertiary qualities and consider the extent to which these may be inherently part of an object, and thereby the degree to which that object might correspond in reality with the way it is perceived. Locke s work has been significantly critiqued (either to extend the ideas, or to refute them) ever since its publication.
