Effects Of The Jim Crow Laws
The Jim Crow laws has had a major influence on the United States based on how much harm than
good it did during its time. The Jim Crow laws were in favor of white people more than black, in state
and local laws in the United States enacted between 1876 and 1965. This in turn caused more harm
than good because black people had so many restrictions on what the can do while living in the US.
The Jim Crow laws were based on segregation of public schools, public places, and public
transportation, and the segregation of restrooms, restaurants, and drinking fountains for whites and
blacks. The U.S. military was also segregated. The Jim Crow laws caused white to feel superior to
black while black thought they were inferior.

These laws had a lot of impact on people sociologically because the government would not believe
them no matter what the case was. They saw all black people as inferior during this time and would
stay the same as time went on.
Segregation between white and black people during the 1890 s was a sad time for most black people
because they could not eat at the same restaurants, use the same railroads or bus stations or even
restrooms. Black people were, restricted to only using what was available to them and nothing else. As
time went on the Democratic Party played a part in the evolution of The Jim Crow laws. During the
1940 s black people was no threat to white Virginians mainly because they were disfranchised by the
new state constitution in 1902. By having this new constitution in place horrible acts such as lynchings
became a means of keeping blacks in their place. The Democratic Party during this time caused more
harm than good instead of helping black people succeed they instead try to keep them tied down.
But when the twenties and eventually the thirties came around most white southerners did not want to
adapt to the changes that were going on at the time. Under the Jim Crow laws most white people
thought at the time that they would eventually get attacked from within or even without. Which was a
huge problem to them, they wanted to keep control of blacks because they saw

Meaning Of The Movie Big Fish
In the movie Big Fish quotes are very important to the meaning of the movie and the motivation for
the quotes being included. The first quote I chose is, The truth is, I didn t see anything of myself in my
father. And I don t think he saw anything of himself in me. This quotes meaning to the movie was that
Edward And Will have a bad relationship, they do not have that close father son relationship that they
should have. He does not see that connection of I want to be just like my dad or any kind of
connection in general. They went without talking or seeing each other for three and that is not normal
for a dad and son. A lot of people in real life have bad relationship with their parents and that is sad.
The second quote that I chose to explain

How Did Thomson Contribute To Chemistry
One of J.J. Thomson s most significant contributions to science, and thus to the study of atomic
theory, was his discovery of the electron. Before the discovery of the electron, the atom was already
associated with having electric charges both positive and negative but the idea of an electron existing
as its own particle was unheard of. It was in 1897 when Thomson first conducted the beginning of his
now famous experiment, in which he used a cathode ray tube to aid in his findings. A cathode ray
tube, is a vacuum tube in which cathode rays, negatively charged particles, are produced at the
cathode and travel through the vacuum, which is created when gas is extracted from the tube. J.J.
Thomson discovered that in order to determine

Don T Singing Research Paper
Everyone Can Sing
Music, or more specifically singing, is an inseparable part of the average American s lifestyle. It s in
the cars we drive, the stores we frequent, the shows we love and the commercials we love to hate.
Music is on our phones, computers, and tablets. Billions of dollars are made from streaming services
and contracts each year. However, for the majority of Americans, the extent of their singing consists of
serenading soap bubbles in the shower or crooning to their favorite artist on their commute to work.
Many think they are not good enough to share these unseen moments with others, however, that is not

Facts About The United States District Court Of Los Angeles
Facts of the Case
On December 2, 2015, Tashfeen Malik and Syed Farook committed an act of terror, killing 14 people
and injuring an additional 21 people. The couple was later linked to the terror group ISIS, prompting
the FBI to attempt to gather information from Farook s employer issued phone. The FBI pursued the
US District Court of Los Angeles, which subsequently issued an order asserting Apple must provide
reasonable technical assistance in unlocking the phone by providing three manners of assistance:
allowing the government to enter more than 10 passcodes without the phone s data being wiped,
enabling automated entries rather than manual entries, and ridding of the gradually increasing delay

At first glance, it appears the All Writs Act was designed specifically for cases like Apple v. FBI, as it
enables the government to request Apple to assist them. However, other cases that have applied the
Act have created new ideas and precedent regarding the authority of the government in requesting
assistance from a device manufacturer.
Application of the Law The most notable precedent regarding the All Writs Act comes from the 1977
Supreme Court ruling in United States v. New York Telephone Company (NYTC). After the FBI
attained probable cause to believe two telephones were furthering an illegal gambling enterprise, a
District Court granted them access to install pen registers. These pen registers, which record the
numbers dialed on outgoing calls, were intended to provide the FBI all necessary information,
facilities, and technical assistance needed. The FBI asserted it needed the telephone company s
assistance, and although the telephone company was willing to provide some assistance, it refused to
furnish facilities and provide technical assistance. After the case made it through an array of appeals,

The Impact Of Media On Technology On Our Lives Essay
Often, we take for granted the significance of media within our lives. Experimenting without media
usage for a day, I was amazed at the change in my thought and behavior. Personal experiences and
examples provide proof of new ideas and present theories, discussed and developed within the essay.
Presenting a balance to the subject, there is an analysis to both the positivity and negativity behind
abandoning media. Within the essay, the reader is able to attain a college point of view, illustrating the
role mass media plays while in class, working on homework, eating with friends, or playing a sport.
Ultimately, the essay enhances the importance of our dependency on technology and our path to
robotic communication.
A Response to Media Fasting Completing the media fast assignment was one of the most difficult,
frustrating, and engaging tasks that I have ever participated in. After two failed attempts of living
without my iphone for twenty four hours, I was forced to lock my phone up, physically detaching
myself from it. Although my failed attempts occurred because of unconsciously responding to a text or
checking the time, close observation of my habitual phone patterns proved to be truly remarkable.
Media, as a whole, occupies a huge part of our lives, keeping us connected and up to date with the
latest news, trends, and advertisements. Subtracting media out of my life for a day actually made me
feel unconnected from others, which I never would imagine to occur.

Persuasive Essay On The Skunk Ape
Remember when everybody was obsessed with Bigfoot?! Well, it appears that the newest obsession is
the Skunk Ape. You probably pictured an animal that is literally half skunk and have ape, not quite. It
is a big, hairy walking ape. Although the United States National Park Service says that skunk apes are
a hoax, it s obvious that they are real because there are pictures and articles that prove that they do
exist. The skunk ape is a hominid cryptid; It is a very tall animal. The males can be up to seven feet
tall and weigh 350 pounds. The females can grow up to six feet and weigh up to 250 pounds (Shealy).
Both genders seem to be strong animals. They are considered a bipedal animal since they have two
feet and each foot has five toes (Nickell). It is said that they smell horrible. The following excerpt
describes the skunk ape s particular smell, ...distinguished as smelly, ... rancid, putrid odor, like that of
rotten food and dead animal ... having the usual scent of cabbage and rotten eggs (Nickell). They smell
like this because they hang out in swamps with other nasty creatures. As far as their habitat, they are
found throughout Florida. They occupy places like the Everglades, swamps, alligator caves or national
parks. According to a web article, They have been spotted as far north as Tallahassee and as far south
as Lostman s River (Shealy). It s crazy to think that they could be so close to us. The following

Transportation of the Civil War Before the Civil War there were things that the North and the South

train that was the most important was the R.R locomotive and the man that made that was Richard
Trevithick. They moved the steal and other things on the rail and the R.R was used in the North more
than the South. They also used boats. Since they did not have steam boats, they used row boats. The
guy that made the steam boats was John Fitch. They used the steam boats to carry cotton up and down

There was so many things that the South had that the North did not have. There was so many thing to

was going to make it here. They all needed to make it place so someone in the South would use the
steam boat to where they need to go and if they can t make it that far they would have getting the train

China As A Developmental State
China as a developmental state
The extraordinary economic growth of China in the past 30 years is a miracle in many aspects. China
has the second highest GDP in the world after the United States, and it is expecting that to surpass the
American economy by 2025 (Zhao, 2014). Comparing the GDP of 2012 and 1978, there was a 142
times increase. The GDP per capita has increase 101 times as well. It has lifted more than 500 million
people out of poverty (Zhao, 2014). This economic miracle is credited to the economic reforms that
started in 1978, which in many ways, learned from the experiences of the model of developmental
state in Korea and Japan. These series of reforms put China s economy back to track after the Great
Leap Forward, a failed and catastrophic social and economic campaign between 1958 and 1961, and

wouldn t join anything dealing with politics. Three years later, former president Venustiano Carranza

of Carranza, and an enemy of Villa. With this assassination, Carranza appointed Obregon to be

Although Villa fought and got Mexico a better government, people were against his efforts to be

The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber Short Story
The Dying Flames of Happiness
Steel and flint continue to strike against each other, over and over. As each strike becomes harder, the
showers of sparks grow larger. Each one tries to find a foothold in the tinder to create the blessed
warmth of fire to drive away the bitter cold. Far of, a wildfire blazes, a glimpse of what might be.
After what seems like an eternity passes, the flint and steel are finally able to admire the blazing
warmth of their handiwork. It is not to last, as soon the wind that fuels the forest s blaze kills the fire,
and the creators along with it. As the fire dies, thus does the happiness brought of by years of hard
work with it. So is the fate of those unlucky enough to be protagonists in Ernest Hemingway s short
stories The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber and the Interchapters. Their happiness is only
achieved through their hard work in overcoming fear, frustration, and lavish lifestyles, but are only
experience that happiness for a short time.
To start, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber is short indeed as the time the title character
spends striking against his fears only amounts to about an hour of happiness. Laying in bed after a
long day, Macomber reflects on revealing his cowardice everyone. His fear not only of the hunt, but
also of embarrassing himself weighs like bricks down on him as he thinks, The fear was still there like
a cold slimy hollow in all the emptiness where once his confidence had been made him feel sick

The Modern Age Of Islam
The Islamic world has tried to become strong again through both secularism and religion, with neither
answer showing a complete, absolute advantage over the other. This is shown through Atta Turk
completely removing Islam out of the newly formed Turkish society, the Baath Party s secular
ideology while still committing massacre, and Hezbollah using a radicalized form of religion to gain
political strength.
The beginning of the modern age of Islam can be marked with Napoleon s conquest of Egypt and the
subsequent conquest by Britain. This defeat indicated to the leaders of the Islamic world that not only
were they defeated by a Western power, but also by an inferior Western power. Thus, leaders of the
Islamic world, such as Muhammad Ali and al Afghani said that to create a successful society, we must
emulate the West to become strong. This ideology held largely throughout the Islamic world until the
creation of Israel. When Israel fought and destroyed Arab nations in the Six Days War, secular
governments were no longer as widely accepted, leading to the creation of Islamic states and the
further progression of Islamic Fundamentalism. Islamic Fundamentalism uses radicalized Islam,
which can usually be traced directly back to Wahhabism, to try and gain power and political influence
over the region through terror. This clearly corrupted thought clashes with the secular, although also in
many cases corrupted, powers of the world. These opposing viewpoints show that there is no

Sand Mining Pollution
Frac Sand Mining: Killing Natural Habitats and Polluting the Environment
I remember walking on the rocky shore of an endless, blue lake and feeling the fresh breeze shield me
from the brutal, summer heat. My Uncle and I used to take out a Piragus canoe and paddle across the
lake s vastness as I peered down into the glassy water and clearly saw the castle rock formations. The
fish quickly swam in and out of their hiding places like swarms of people making their way to work
on a busy New York morning. The lake breathed with life and movement. Rolling green bluffs
encircled the lake, creating a storybook like haven. So many beautiful woodlands and waterways like
this continue to disappear due to the frac sand mining industry. Towering machinery replaces
billowing trees with piles of red, earthy mounds, and the heavy clanking of metal on metal echoes
across the land. Frac mining and fracking scars the land around it indefinitely. I am not an expert on
environmental habitats or the mining industry, but my love for the outdoors and fishing drives me to
investigate the harmful effects of frac sand mining. The frac sand mining industry exploits the
remaining wilderness of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and surrounding states by selfishly polluting
the environment; taking millions of gallons of water from freshwater resources, and disturbing
essential minerals from the ground, thus prohibiting future habitat growth and creating significant
health issues due to a surplus of dust.

The Importance Of Engagement In Social Work
Engagement
Engagement is a vital component to the therapeutic process and the framework to which a social
worker establishes trust with the individual receiving services (Berg Weger, 2013). This interaction is
suggested as paramount to achieving a collaborative therapeutic relationship (Easter, Pollock, Pope,
Wisdom, Smith, 2016). Methods of engagement are considered as continuing throughout mental
health services beginning with the initial contact.
Practice Skills
In an inpatient setting, patients admit with a mental health crisis and are especially sensitive to
interactions with others. Often the first levels of engagement are challenging due to medications that
are first given to stabilize each patient. During the engagement with Mark, it was important to
encourage the sense of wellbeing towards recovery and placing a focus on his strengths. Engaging a
client with their challenges and goals are suggested to be of focus instead of an individual s mental
health status or symptoms (Novotná, Urbanoski, Rush, 2011).
Active listening
Due to Marks very depressed state, the initial interaction required a great deal of empathy and high
degrees of compassion. When first engaging a client, it is important to be compassionate and
empathetic and listen without interrupting, prompting or advising (Berg Weger, 2013). Reflecting and
summarizing content delivered in the session is a valuable way to let the client know that you are
actively listening to what they are saying

What Are The Positive And Negative Effects Of Mosquito
According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, every year more than 1.5 million people around the
globe lose their lives due to mosquito borne diseases (2012). A mosquito is an insect which lives
around the world, especially in tropical and subtropical countries. The mosquito has both positive and
negative effects. As part of positive effects, larvae of mosquitoes are food for fish and dragonflies, and
when mosquitoes consume nectar, they help the flowers to pollinate. On the other hand, mosquitoes
make people annoyed and cause many diseases. World Health Organization (2016) explains that the
mosquito is the greatest menace which causes many diseases and they are responsible for more than

The Cultural Values Of Multi-Culture And Cultural Diversity
There is a cultural value difference everywhere, it s unrealistic to believe how multicultural
differences affect society. We can observe multi culture spread around the world. The author tries to
show us how multi culture is managed to survive in a respectful way with diverse society. People
migrate to the various part of the world and managed to live humbly practicing their culture and
others. We can also perceive the value and the effect of cultural belief. Multi culture can be
characterized as an act for different cultures. We can describe what multicultural means, it s value and
negative effect on a society. Multiculturalism can be expressed as sharing different ideas and values
among society. Having the diversity will help to learn new thing and help us how to collaborate and be
together while it last. The author supported his argument based interviewing the victims, he was
involved and had contact with the victims. It s hard to see what different cultures value most.
Everybody needs to respect their own culture. Multi culture allows us to learn different things and also
helps us to live in a different society. Most immigrant people live by collaborating both culture.
A valuable aspect of multi culture can be defined in many ways, the bond, the respect for family and
keeping the culture strong and thriving. Parents are the concrete for us to learn about everything.
Family comes first, we learn to love and respect from our parents. Despite the fact people migrate to

Katmai Volcano
A volcano is a weak spot in the crust where molten material, or magma, comes to the surface. In a
volcano there is a magma chamber, pipe, vent, lava flow, and craters. A magma chamber is the pocket
where magma collects under or below a volcano. The pipe of a volcano is the long tube in the ground
that connects the Earth s surface to the magma chamber. A vent in a volcano is where the molten rock
and gas from the volcano leave through an opening. The lava flow is a certain area that is covered by
lava that is coming out of the vent. Lastly, a crater is a bowl shaped area that is formed at the top of
the volcano. The eruption of 1912 or Mount Katmai was the biggest eruption of the 20th century.

Peterloo Revolution
Discussion
Why did Parliament pass a law forbidding the breaking of factory machines?
During the Industrial Revolution, the factory machines decreased the number of workers needed to
perform certain tasks. The extraneous workers were fired, which angered the newly unemployed
factory workers. These workers then rioted in several countries, smashing the machinery that they
blamed for their unemployment. The violence from this frightened Parliament into passing the law
forbidding the destruction of factory machines.
What caused the Peterloo massacre?
During the Industrial Revolution, labor unions were illegal in England. However, the times were hard
enough that factory workers decided to join together and fight for better working conditions anyway.

William Blake s writing contained aspects of romanticism. Describe William Blake s beliefs and how
they affected his writing?
William Blake was one of several transitionary writers between the Age of Reason and the Age of
Romanticism. He saw the poverty and suffering that surrounded him and was a supporter of the
French Revolution in its early days. He could not accept the neoclassical idea of a stable, orderly
hierarchy in the universe, but instead viewed existence as a blending of opposite poles good and evil,
innocence and experience, heaven and hell. His magnum opus Songs of Innocence and Songs of
Experience is the epitome of how his work embodied his beliefs.

High Demand For Off Campus Housing Essay
Everyone will have to search for housing at some point in their life but for most JMU students this
process begins after only a few weeks of living in a dorm your freshman year of college. The thought
of signing a lease this early into the school year with friends that you have only known since coming
to JMU can be very exciting and scary at the same time. there is such high demand for off campus
housing that they tend to fill up very fast and early in the school year. Most students at JMU will only
live in a dorm their freshman year and then move into apartments for the rest of their college
experience. This is a helpful guide for students looking for housing including my own experience
signing a lease, whether living off campus is cheaper than living on campus, and what your options
are for living off campus.
My Own Experience:
My search for housing began only six weeks after I had packed my entire life up and moved from
New Hampshire to JMU. Thankfully my sister is currently a senior here at JMU so she knew how
important it was to sign a lease quickly because of how fast the housing complexes fill up. According
to the Best College Rankings from US News and World Report, 13 percent of the students live in
college owned, operated or affiliated housing and 87 percent of students live off campus at James
Madison University ( James Madison... ). Since so many students live off campus, my friends and I

of sociological aspects that benefit the audience in understanding society. During the film Kung Fu
Panda statuses and roles (OSW, Pg.132) were introduced and given to each individual. A status is a
type of position or place and a role is how you act or are supposed to act, these terms are seen in all
types of groups. During the beginning of the film KFP the main character was apart of the out group
not being accepted and feeling a sense of unbelonging (OSW, Pg. 137) towards The Awesome Five

Treatment Of Women In Hamlet
Hamlet has a wide variety of topics ranging from the role of women during the last sixteenth century,
sexuality and incest, religion, the mystery of life and death and suicide as an escape from problems
among others but the most important and the only that could completely be seen in the work is
Treason in Elsinore Castle in Denmark . High treason is easily observable from any point of view. It is
easy to recognize how King Hamlet and his son Prince Hamlet are betrayed at the same time by their
own family and an entire people is also betrayed with all the murky movements that are made so that a
new king who is an assassin and a corrupt politician could assume the throne. I chose the theme of

Elizabeth I was illegitimate daughter of King Henry VIII and her lover Ann Bolen. Elizabeth had as
her predecessors to her sister Mary I and then her brother in law Philip II who was king of Spain.
Mary I was closely related to the Catholic Church and she strongly defended her catholic principles.
She carried out a massacre against Protestants and for that reason she is known as Bloody Mary .
When Elizabeth assumed the throne she recognized herself as Protestant. Elizabeth wanted to restore
the peace for her people because her sister had already generated many deaths. This all generated a
climate of instability in the Catholic Church since they believed it pertinent that a catholic king or
queen should claim the throne. Many plans began to be made against the Protestant Queen. Catholic
Church did not recognize Elizabeth as queen because they believed that no illegitimate daughter
deserved the throne. Church wanted to name Mary I queen of Scots as queen of England because she
was the catholic and legitimate daughter of James V of Scotland and cousin of Elizabeth I. England
experienced an intense phase of economic, cultural and social development during Elizabeth´s reign.

The Most Influential Text is the Bible
The Bible is widely regarded as perhaps the most influential text in the record of human history. Both
Judaism and Christianity hold the Bible in high spiritual regard, due to its function as the basis for
these two respective religions. The Bible serves as a single divine anthology, comprised of a series of
books that have been meticulously composed by hundreds of authors over hundreds of years
(Armstrong, 2007). Over the course of human history, the stories, lessons, and parables found within
the Bible have had significant impact on societies all around the world. One of the most pertinent and
interesting topics found within the Bible is the concept of leprosy. The Bible mentions leprosy in a
variety of places, which include segments from both the Old Testament and the New Testament. From
the book of Exodus to the Holy Gospels of Jesus Christ, leprosy is an ever present aspect of biblical
society. The sufferers of leprosy in the Bible often fall under extreme social chastisement and are
commonly subject to segregation from society in accordance with ancient scripture (Leviticus 13.46
New Revised Standard Version). Due to the common mention of leprosy in the Bible, and the
somewhat opaque examination of the disease, a number of key concerns have arisen over the period of
the modern era. Through the analysis of what biblical leprosy constitutes, its prominence within the
Old Testament, and its appearances in the New Testament, readers can more fully understand how

Classical Iconography Within The Commissions Of Lorenzo De...
The Important Incorporation of Classical Iconography Within the Commissions of Lorenzo de Medici
and Pope Julius II
Julius II and Lorenzo de Medici arguably had not so dissimilar goals in their patronage. Patronage was
a tool for exerting political power, exemplifying personal magnificence, and invoking a sense of civic
duty. These patrons attempted to display different pieces of these attributes in different ways.
Lorenzo de Medici, born into arguably the most prestigious family in Florence, grew up familiar with
the importance of the commissioning of artworks and public works projects. The commissioning of
these works allowed the banking family of the Medici s, who were not originally of noble lineage, to
display their magnificence in the public sphere. The commissioning also allowed them a participation
in the contribution expected by Florentines to the civil pride of the city itself. The Medici family had
to straddle a fine line in their patronage. Florence was a long standing republican society, and the
Medici s patronage had to equally reflect their civic and religious duties as well as their own personal
interests. Lorenzo began his political and artistic education early, understanding the importance and
fragility of his family s dynasty.
As a youth, Lorenzo served upon a number of artistic and civil committees informing his taste as a
patron. His servitude upon these councils allowed him also early direct influence within Florence that
he would continue.

Subliminal Perception is a signal or message embedded in another object, designed to pass below the

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it

God is a part of American culture? That seems unfair to believers in other parts of the world, and
Religion is only a significant part of everyday life if you believe. This isn t to say that Christianity is
bad, just that non theistic people are not treated fairly. Tradition is important, but sometimes tradition
should be forgotten. Around that time religion has played a significant role in the founding of
America, and even the world. For example: In God we Trust or God Bless America, or even saying Oh
my God. There is no denying that God and religion has played a large role in the formation of
America. Even still, that was back when Christianity was the only thing that people knew. In God we
Trust was put on coins in 1864, and God Bless America was written in 1918, and Oh my God was

and hate in America. This could be one of the next steps toward a better and more accepting America.

experiment at Cavendish laboratory was a easier and simpler way of detecting radio waves. Ernest
Rutherford made a vast discovery with uranium. He discovered that if u place uranium near foil, there
was one type of radiation being easily soaked up or blocked. While a different type had no trouble
penetrating the same foil. He named theses radiations alpha (having the same nucleus as a helium
atom) and beta. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While at McGill Rutherford meet a young chemist called Fredrick Soddy. After doing work with
Fredrick they discovered the mysteries of radioactivity. There work showed that heavy atoms decay
into slightly lighter atoms. This discovery soon brought Ernest Rutherford to world attention. Later in
1904 Ernest published a book radioactively . In 1908 he was given the novel prize for chemistry for
the discovery of the disintegration of atoms and their radioactively. In 1907 Ernest Rutherford
travelled back to England, where he became a professor at Manchester university. After doing some
further experiments at Manchester university involving firing alpha particle at high speeds into foil,
Rutherford made a groundbreaking discovery. He discovered that nearly all of the mass of an atom is
in the nucleus. Later on while at Manchester university, Ernest Rutherford discovered the nuclear
model. This discovery marked the establishment of nuclear physics and was the starting point of the
invention of the atomic

The Effects Of High-Profile Vehicles
Consumer sentiment for high profile vehicles continues. A quick scan of the automotive landscape,
especially in the United States, reveals that consumers are snapping up SUVs and pickup trucks to the
detriment of coupes, sedans, and wagons. Some brands, such as Buick, are selling as many as three
SUVs to one car, underscoring the wholesale shift away from traditional transportation choices. Some
analysts see a permanent shift away from cars to high profile vehicles and are essentially calling the
segment dead. Indeed, just this past week we ve heard rumors that GM may cancel two large sedans
the Chevrolet Impala and Cadillac XTS, with even a few smaller models such as the Chevrolet Sonic
possibly on the chopping block. Also, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes sense because the 2019 Avalon is based on the same platform underpinning the Toyota
Camry and also shares its wheelbase with the Lexus ES Series. Avalon sales may be falling, but
Toyota is poised to fill the void left with its own model. Livery owners everywhere rejoice! 3.
Shrinking, but not dying. Not all car segments are going away. One reason large sedan sales are falling
is because midsize sedans are taking up the slack. Today s midsize models are nearly as large as the
big sedans sold 15 years ago. They re also better made, well equipped, and affordable. Doubtlessly,
the D segment pie will continue to shrink, but there is opportunity for those who are patient. Indeed,
both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are all new for 2018, while a refreshed Hyundai Sonata
rolls out. Sales of such remaining models as the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, Chevrolet Malibu, and
Kia Optima remain strong. It is doubtful the Subaru Legacy will go away, although models such as the
Mazda 6 and Volkswagen Passat may not receive an update anytime soon. 4. Gas prices are a driving
factor. Low fuel prices have people running away from fuel efficient models. That said, today s utility
vehicles are more efficient than ever. Still, if gas prices begin to rise, consumers may suddenly shift
demand to vehicles currently in low demand. No utility vehicle delivers anywhere near the

Sweatshops Argumentative Essay
Thanksgiving Day dinner is a time for family celebration, but also a time for discussion, which often
seems to lead into a debate (at least in my family). However, when cousin Steve and Aunt Jenny are
having this argument, it s hard to determine a clear winner because the morality of international trade
and outsourcing is complex and often times inconclusive. There are great benefits and costs to society
and this topic needs to be looked at through all lenses. One of the more heated debates regarding free
trade is sweatshops. I would generally define sweatshops as a business that due to lack of respect,
places employees in hazardous and unhealthy conditions for unjustifiably low wages. However, it s
difficult to utilize this broad definition when identifying sweatshops internationally, ... Show more

Business are constantly compelled to cut costs, increase revenues, and overall increase the value and
profit of the company. Relocating production sites to non industrialized regions proves to be cost
effective for these companies due to the significantly lower labor costs, the ability to better transport
products to global markets, and the considerable lack of labor laws compared to the United States.
This drastic cut of expenses makes it much easier for businesses to charge less for their products due
to the large profit margin. Furthermore, some of these underdeveloped nations need more jobs coming
into the country to help boost their economy. Although international workers are being paid
significantly less than Americans, their jobs in these sweatshops provide a steady income for their
families. For instance, in Honduras the average sweatshop worker earns about $13 a day whereas
agricultural farmers live off of $2 per day (The World Counts, 2018). Our reading this week in, The
New Global Apparel Trade agrees when stating, the growth of low wage production in the export

Cabg Nursing Research
As people age, major organs began to have a decline in function and with age, we also damage those
organs and other various body parts. A major issue that is becoming more common is that people are
having occluded arteries and surgeons are afraid to touch these arteries because of the risk of rupturing
them. With this risk the patients undergo what is known as a coronary artery bypass graft, or a CABG
to avoid touching the occlude artery. The thesis of this article is to describe how nurses give care post
CABG surgery how it affects the outcome of the surgery. This study used a questionnaire that was
given to patients in Brazil who had undergone this surgery and also for publisher who have written

not knowing what all is happening with the surgery and the post surgery. It is during this period that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lipoprotein
Cholesterol
It is an important lipid found in the blood (Kanakavalli et al., 2014). Cholesterol is a vital substance
produced by the body and is also ingested from animal derived foods. It can either be good or bad. At
normal levels, it is essential in the body but if levels get too high then it may cause us harm (MacGill,
2015). Cholesterol allows the body to produce vitamin D, which promotes calcium absorption in the
gut and it also maintains serum calcium and phosphate concentrations for normal mineralization of
bone (Food and Nutrition Board, 2010).

It is one of the living renewable resources of the ocean with potential food applications (Kumar,
2011). Seaweed consumption is popular in in Asian countries. In the Philippines, out of the 350
species to known to have economic values, less than 5% are commercially important (Marquez, et al.,
2014). Seaweeds, aside from human food consumption, it is also used in cosmetics, fertilizers and as

Sigmund Freud And The Human Psyche
Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist who studied in various subjects such as philosophy and
physiology (Freud 1992). Freud was the founder of psychoanalysis with his methods still being used
in the field of psychology, which highlights the pathological processes in mental life. The most
important aspect of Freud s ideas was the human psyche (personality) has more that has more than one
aspect. Freud (1923) separated the psyche into 3 sections known as the Id, Ego and superego whereby
they develop during different stages of our lives. Accordingly to Freud s model, the id is the
instinctual and primitive part of the mind that contains sexual and aggressive drives which contains
hidden memories (Sletvold 2013 pg.1022). Sletvold (2013) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Garcia (1995) describes that it is through psychosexual activity where a human being establishes
important interpersonal connections and an infant is contended with libidinal tensions (sexual drives
of life components). Oral is the first stage of Freud s psychosexual theory which of 0 1 year of the
infant and engages in how the mouth is the pleasure centre for development. Freud believed that
children were born with a sucking reflex and therefore desired their mother s breast which gives
psychological benefits as the child is being nourished on nutrients. This then indicates how Freud s
theory influences health and social needs during the first stages of child development. Moreover, it is
suggested that Natalie s mother may not have breast fed her child as Garcia (1995) further explains a
child may develop negative habits if the oral needs are not met during infancy and could affect the
next stages of a child s development. The second stage anal develops during 1 3 years of age where
children learn thee control their bodily functions manifested in toilet training. Garcia (1995) discusses
that improper resolution at this stage whereby the parents are toilet training their child too early, may
possibly result in a child who is uptight and overly obsessed with order; meaning that if unpathetic and
frustrated parents/guardians deal with the infant harshly, exposure, shame and negative feelings of
invasion maybe become associated with a natural body function.

Career Profile Of The Transition From School
I. INTRODUCTION
The transition from school to work can be challenging for students. It is our job to help you identify
your goal, acquire job searching skills and get prepare for the outside world. Janice Tester (Career
advisor, McGill University) Janice Tester has been working as a Career Advisor for McGill Career
planning Service Office (CaPS) for over 17 years. In 2014, I started to serve as a peer educator in
CaPS office and Janice became my supervisor since then. Despite the fact that we worked closely
together in the past two years, I never get a chance to know her accomplishments in the job and how
she perceive her work. This became my initial motivation to interview her. Another reason is that,
given the importance of career advising service in McGill, its performance is difficult to evaluate. A
throughout analysis on this position can be helpful for its performance improvement. Several
expectations for this position were developed during my working in CaPS. Firstly, I expected career
advisors to be business orientated, with backgrounds in human resource management. Secondly, since
their works involve mostly one on one consulting with students, interactions with colleagues are
limited and unnecessary. Thirdly, I expected that, career advisors enjoy a high level of initiative.
Instead of taking commands directly from their supervisor, they have the

Rousseau Social Contract
In a society you can t have anarchy otherwise it would become a blood bath where everyone kills one
another. The death penalty dates back to the eighteenth century B.C. to current day where it is now a
more controversial topic. In The Social Contract Rousseau debates political investments that come
with monarchy, and as a result the anarchy that has ensued throughout time. As a society it has always
been our obligation to determine what is considered morally right from what is wrong. Our views as
civil society have changed dramatically from the early eighteenth century to current day. Without
having the social contract by which every man in civil society is bounded by there would be no self
control therefore causing us humans to act as animals. Rousseau begins the first chapter by stating

One of our rights as society however is determining the difference between right and wrong and
whether or not it abides by what we call the social contract. The death penalty has been a controversial
issue since the beginning of time however it has been desensitized. The death penalty used to be done
by crucifixion, drowning, beating to death, burning alive, and impalement however we civilians have
realized that the death penalty is horribly flawed and throughout time has transformed it to lesser
extreme measures. Rousseau states It is expedient for the state that you should die , then he should die,
because it is only on such terms that he has lived in security as long as he has and also because his life
is no longer the bounty of nature but a gift he has received conditionally from the state. (Rousseau 78)
Rousseau believes that if its in the best interest of society then the use of the death penalty is socially
correct. Once a man breaks the law and becomes a criminal to society your rights as a civilian are
immediately taken away. It is in the countries best

  • 2. Effects Of The Jim Crow Laws The Jim Crow laws has had a major influence on the United States based on how much harm than good it did during its time. The Jim Crow laws were in favor of white people more than black, in state and local laws in the United States enacted between 1876 and 1965. This in turn caused more harm than good because black people had so many restrictions on what the can do while living in the US. The Jim Crow laws were based on segregation of public schools, public places, and public transportation, and the segregation of restrooms, restaurants, and drinking fountains for whites and blacks. The U.S. military was also segregated. The Jim Crow laws caused white to feel superior to black while black thought they were inferior. African Americans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These laws had a lot of impact on people sociologically because the government would not believe them no matter what the case was. They saw all black people as inferior during this time and would stay the same as time went on. Segregation between white and black people during the 1890 s was a sad time for most black people because they could not eat at the same restaurants, use the same railroads or bus stations or even restrooms. Black people were, restricted to only using what was available to them and nothing else. As time went on the Democratic Party played a part in the evolution of The Jim Crow laws. During the 1940 s black people was no threat to white Virginians mainly because they were disfranchised by the new state constitution in 1902. By having this new constitution in place horrible acts such as lynchings became a means of keeping blacks in their place. The Democratic Party during this time caused more harm than good instead of helping black people succeed they instead try to keep them tied down. But when the twenties and eventually the thirties came around most white southerners did not want to adapt to the changes that were going on at the time. Under the Jim Crow laws most white people thought at the time that they would eventually get attacked from within or even without. Which was a huge problem to them, they wanted to keep control of blacks because they saw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first quote I chose is, The truth is, I didn t see anything of myself in my father. And I don t think he saw anything of himself in me. • 4. How Did Thomson Contribute To Chemistry One of J.J. Thomson s most significant contributions to science, and thus to the study of atomic theory, was his discovery of the electron. Before the discovery of the electron, the atom was already associated with having electric charges both positive and negative but the idea of an electron existing as its own particle was unheard of. It was in 1897 when Thomson first conducted the beginning of his now famous experiment, in which he used a cathode ray tube to aid in his findings. A cathode ray tube, is a vacuum tube in which cathode rays, negatively charged particles, are produced at the cathode and travel through the vacuum, which is created when gas is extracted from the tube. Application of the Law The most notable precedent regarding the All Writs Act comes from the 1977 Supreme Court ruling in United States v. New York Telephone Company (NYTC). After the FBI attained probable cause to believe two telephones were furthering an illegal gambling enterprise, a District Court granted them access to install pen registers. • 8. The Impact Of Media On Technology On Our Lives Essay Often, we take for granted the significance of media within our lives. Experimenting without media usage for a day, I was amazed at the change in my thought and behavior. Personal experiences and examples provide proof of new ideas and present theories, discussed and developed within the essay. Presenting a balance to the subject, there is an analysis to both the positivity and negativity behind abandoning media. Within the essay, the reader is able to attain a college point of view, illustrating the role mass media plays while in class, working on homework, eating with friends, or playing a sport. Ultimately, the essay enhances the importance of our dependency on technology and our path to robotic communication. A Response to Media Fasting Completing the media fast assignment was one of the most difficult, frustrating, and engaging tasks that I have ever participated in. After two failed attempts of living without my iphone for twenty four hours, I was forced to lock my phone up, physically detaching myself from it. Although my failed attempts occurred because of unconsciously responding to a text or checking the time, close observation of my habitual phone patterns proved to be truly remarkable. Media, as a whole, occupies a huge part of our lives, keeping us connected and up to date with the latest news, trends, and advertisements. Subtracting media out of my life for a day actually made me feel unconnected from others, which I never would imagine to occur. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing the GDP of 2012 and 1978, there was a 142 times increase. The GDP per capita has increase 101 times as well. It has lifted more than 500 million people out of poverty (Zhao, 2014). This economic miracle is credited to the economic reforms that started in 1978, which in many ways, learned from the experiences of the model of developmental state in Korea and Japan. These series of reforms put China s economy back to track after the Great Leap Forward, a failed and catastrophic social and economic campaign between 1958 and 1961, and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a devastating turmoil between 1966 and 1976. Far of, a wildfire blazes, a glimpse of what might be. After what seems like an eternity passes, the flint and steel are finally able to admire the blazing warmth of their handiwork. • 16. The Modern Age Of Islam The Islamic world has tried to become strong again through both secularism and religion, with neither answer showing a complete, absolute advantage over the other. This is shown through Atta Turk completely removing Islam out of the newly formed Turkish society, the Baath Party s secular ideology while still committing massacre, and Hezbollah using a radicalized form of religion to gain political strength. The beginning of the modern age of Islam can be marked with Napoleon s conquest of Egypt and the subsequent conquest by Britain. This defeat indicated to the leaders of the Islamic world that not only were they defeated by a Western power, but also by an inferior Western power. Thus, leaders of the Islamic world, such as Muhammad Ali and al Afghani said that to create a successful society, we must emulate the West to become strong. This ideology held largely throughout the Islamic world until the creation of Israel. When Israel fought and destroyed Arab nations in the Six Days War, secular governments were no longer as widely accepted, leading to the creation of Islamic states and the further progression of Islamic Fundamentalism. Islamic Fundamentalism uses radicalized Islam, which can usually be traced directly back to Wahhabism, to try and gain power and political influence over the region through terror. This clearly corrupted thought clashes with the secular, although also in many cases corrupted, powers of the world. These opposing viewpoints show that there is no ... • 17. Sand Mining Pollution Frac Sand Mining: Killing Natural Habitats and Polluting the Environment I remember walking on the rocky shore of an endless, blue lake and feeling the fresh breeze shield me from the brutal, summer heat. My Uncle and I used to take out a Piragus canoe and paddle across the lake s vastness as I peered down into the glassy water and clearly saw the castle rock formations. The fish quickly swam in and out of their hiding places like swarms of people making their way to work on a busy New York morning. The lake breathed with life and movement. Rolling green bluffs encircled the lake, creating a storybook like haven. So many beautiful woodlands and waterways like this continue to disappear due to the frac sand mining industry. Towering machinery replaces billowing trees with piles of red, earthy mounds, and the heavy clanking of metal on metal echoes across the land. Frac mining and fracking scars the land around it indefinitely. I am not an expert on environmental habitats or the mining industry, but my love for the outdoors and fishing drives me to investigate the harmful effects of frac sand mining. The frac sand mining industry exploits the remaining wilderness of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and surrounding states by selfishly polluting the environment; taking millions of gallons of water from freshwater resources, and disturbing essential minerals from the ground, thus prohibiting future habitat growth and creating significant health issues due to a surplus of dust. ... • 18. The Importance Of Engagement In Social Work Engagement Engagement is a vital component to the therapeutic process and the framework to which a social worker establishes trust with the individual receiving services (Berg Weger, 2013). This interaction is suggested as paramount to achieving a collaborative therapeutic relationship (Easter, Pollock, Pope, Wisdom, Smith, 2016). Methods of engagement are considered as continuing throughout mental health services beginning with the initial contact. Practice Skills In an inpatient setting, patients admit with a mental health crisis and are especially sensitive to interactions with others. Often the first levels of engagement are challenging due to medications that are first given to stabilize each patient. During the engagement with Mark, it was important to encourage the sense of wellbeing towards recovery and placing a focus on his strengths. Engaging a client with their challenges and goals are suggested to be of focus instead of an individual s mental health status or symptoms (Novotná, Urbanoski, Rush, 2011). Active listening Due to Marks very depressed state, the initial interaction required a great deal of empathy and high degrees of compassion. When first engaging a client, it is important to be compassionate and empathetic and listen without interrupting, prompting or advising (Berg Weger, 2013). Both Judaism and Christianity hold the Bible in high spiritual regard, due to its function as the basis for these two respective religions. The Bible serves as a single divine anthology, comprised of a series of books that have been meticulously composed by hundreds of authors over hundreds of years (Armstrong, 2007). Over the course of human history, the stories, lessons, and parables found within the Bible have had significant impact on societies all around the world. One of the most pertinent and interesting topics found within the Bible is the concept of leprosy. The Bible mentions leprosy in a variety of places, which include segments from both the Old Testament and the New Testament. From the book of Exodus to the Holy Gospels of Jesus Christ, leprosy is an ever present aspect of biblical society. The sufferers of leprosy in the Bible often fall under extreme social chastisement and are commonly subject to segregation from society in accordance with ancient scripture (Leviticus 13.46 New Revised Standard Version). Due to the common mention of leprosy in the Bible, and the somewhat opaque examination of the disease, a number of key concerns have arisen over the period of the modern era. • 39. Classical Iconography Within The Commissions Of Lorenzo De... The Important Incorporation of Classical Iconography Within the Commissions of Lorenzo de Medici and Pope Julius II Julius II and Lorenzo de Medici arguably had not so dissimilar goals in their patronage. Patronage was a tool for exerting political power, exemplifying personal magnificence, and invoking a sense of civic duty. These patrons attempted to display different pieces of these attributes in different ways. Lorenzo de Medici, born into arguably the most prestigious family in Florence, grew up familiar with the importance of the commissioning of artworks and public works projects. The commissioning of these works allowed the banking family of the Medici s, who were not originally of noble lineage, to display their magnificence in the public sphere. The commissioning also allowed them a participation in the contribution expected by Florentines to the civil pride of the city itself. The Medici family had to straddle a fine line in their patronage. Florence was a long standing republican society, and the Medici s patronage had to equally reflect their civic and religious duties as well as their own personal interests. Lorenzo began his political and artistic education early, understanding the importance and fragility of his family s dynasty. This video focuses specifically on Jackson, Mississippi. This video takes a look at Lanier High School and some of the student s experiences and difficulties in this school due to poverty in this town. Jackson Mississippi is 70% black and Lanier High School is 100% black students. Everything started to go downhill for this community after integration occurred. Black students left their school and went to a more diverse school. But no one chose to come to Lanier High School or Jackson due to how run down the community and school was. Therefore the community only suffered. Manuel is a student at Lanier High School. He does not have a father figure and his mother is not in good condition due to her stroke, so he has to take care of her. He struggles in school with his grades and authority from the teachers. He plays on the basketball team but always fights with his coach because he is not used to male authority. He is kicked off of the team and ends up failing tenth grade. He then roams the streets with his buddies and his mom is very worried he ll end up in jail or even worse, death. He is a prime example of how poverty in his family and community affect him directly. • 41. Subliminal Perception Essay Subliminal Perception Subliminal Perception is a signal or message embedded in another object, designed to pass below the normal limits of perception. These messages are indiscernible by the conscious mind, but allegedly affect the subconscious or deeper mind. Subliminal techniques have occasionally been used in advertising, but the purpose, effectiveness and frequency of such techniques is debated. It is proven though that stimulation below the level of a person s conscious awareness can be shown to have on some aspects of behavior. Classical conditioning is also used by well known brands, in which a uncconditioned stimulus might consist with a well known brand symbol that implies products that have certain qualities. The print advertisement that I chose for classical conditioning is from Geico. The Strong brand symbol of the Geico Gecko did not happen over night, but through strong marketing campaigns supported by repetition, The Gecko has become a household symbol. Sensory Perception: Sensory perception is defined as, The immediate response of our sensory receptors (eyes, ears, nose, mouth fingers) to the basic stimuli such as light, color, sound, odor texture. Formed with the process by which people select, organize and interpret these sensations. Understanding the role that the touch, taste, smell and sight play in marketing is important. It is our senses that interpret information and give us meaning to what objects are around us. Smell: Scent marketing is taking interesting turns as manufacturers and marketers find innovative ways to put scents into products. The print work I chose to exemplify the smell perception is Air Wick. This particular advertisement, although it is smaller than the average size, it offers a wide array of sensory stimuli. • 42. Christianity In America Research Paper I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Those are the words that are said every day by students from elementary school to high school. But these words are unfair to many in America who either do not believe in God or, even if they do, desire a clear separation between church and state. This author will argue that the phrase Under God does not belong in the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States of America. Some people claim that this is a Christian nation. However, Christianity is not the official religion in America, even though it may be the most popular. Although 71% of America are Christian, the other 29% is forced to pledge ... Around that time religion has played a significant role in the founding of America, and even the world. For example: In God we Trust or God Bless America, or even saying Oh my God. There is no denying that God and religion has played a large role in the formation of America. Even still, that was back when Christianity was the only thing that people knew. In God we Trust was put on coins in 1864, and God Bless America was written in 1918, and Oh my God was used in a letter to Winston Churchill in 1917. A quick scan of the automotive landscape, especially in the United States, reveals that consumers are snapping up SUVs and pickup trucks to the detriment of coupes, sedans, and wagons. Some analysts see a permanent shift away from cars to high profile vehicles and are essentially calling the segment dead. However, when cousin Steve and Aunt Jenny are having this argument, it s hard to determine a clear winner because the morality of international trade and outsourcing is complex and often times inconclusive. There are great benefits and costs to society and this topic needs to be looked at through all lenses. One of the more heated debates regarding free trade is sweatshops. This drastic cut of expenses makes it much easier for businesses to charge less for their products due to the large profit margin. Furthermore, some of these underdeveloped nations need more jobs coming into the country to help boost their economy.
