How To Write A Law Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of writing a law essay presents a unique set of challenges.
The task requires a nuanced understanding of legal concepts, adept research skills, and the ability
to articulate complex ideas with clarity. Delving into the intricacies of legal frameworks demands
a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive grasp of the subject matter.
One of the primary challenges lies in navigating the vast expanse of legal literature to gather
relevant and up-to-date information. Legal principles are dynamic, subject to amendments and
interpretations, making it imperative to stay abreast of recent developments. Synthesizing this
information into a coherent narrative that flows logically and persuasively is another hurdle.
The precision of language is paramount in legal writing. Communicating ideas with clarity while
adhering to the formalities of legal language adds an additional layer of complexity. Striking the
right balance between being concise and thorough is an art that law essay writing demands.
Moreover, an effective law essay requires not only a well-reasoned argument but also the ability
to anticipate counterarguments and address them convincingly. This demands critical thinking
skills and a thorough understanding of the subject from multiple perspectives.
The structural aspect of the essay is equally demanding. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas, proper
citation of legal authorities, and adherence to formatting guidelines are all crucial components
that contribute to the overall quality of the essay.
In essence, crafting a compelling law essay is akin to navigating a complex legal maze, where
each step must be carefully calculated. It requires a blend of legal acumen, analytical prowess,
and impeccable writing skills. However, with dedication and a systematic approach, one can
overcome these challenges to produce a well-crafted and impactful piece of legal writing.

Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium
Chloride
How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the
ammonium nitrate and the calcium chloride?
Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it
demonstrates how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries
mainly. Cold packs help heal sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the
inflicted area and make the blood vessels tighten, which lowers the inflammation and
pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium nitrate or some other salt and
fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate from the
ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed,
the cold pack is squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the
ammonium nitrate to mix. The ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and
creates the cold pack. The cold pack is used to decrease the effect of increased
blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to increase blood flow to an area,
such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the affected area and
makes the blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the cold
pack does, but instead of ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride.
Therefore, when a hot pack is needed the pad is squeezed and the water and the
calcium chloride mix, which creates the hot pack.
There are new concepts that relate to this lab, such as exothermic and endothermic

Viruses Can Infect Different Types Of Living Organisms
Viruses
Viruses are also small particles which can infect different types of living organisms.
Viruses are known as parasitic which means they can only live in other organisms
for example humans and can only reproduce inside living cells and damage the cell
when doing this. When a virus is inside a cell they can make copies of itself,
eventually this will fill the living cell and it could potentially burst which means the
virus cells will be passed into the bloodstream, the airways or other routes. Viruses
can come in different shapes as they don t have a specific cell structure. The cells
have a core of genetic material which is surrounded by a protein coat. The genetic
information that they hold can either be DNA or RNA but cannot be both {6}. Just
like bacteria viruses can be found anywhere as long as there are cells to infect.
Some viruses can enter a cell and not cause any damage until passed onto another
one, but most viruses do tend to cause damage to a cell {7}.

Yoghurt is also made by boiling milk and adding bacteria to it as the bacteria turns
the sugar in the milk to acid, the acid then makes the milk go thick and stops any
harmful bacteria growing in the yoghurt. Dead leaves also contain bacteria as the
bacteria will feed on the leaves and break them down into nutrients. The nutrients
then go back into the soil where they can be used by plants {8}. Yeast cells can
also be used to make alcoholic drinks such as beer and wine. Bacteria can also
make cheese, vinegar, compost and silage. Yeast can break down sugars in the
absence of oxygen; this is known as fermentation which is the production of ethanol.
Fermentation is used to make alcoholic drinks such as beer and wine

Operating Environment
The Operating sector of the external environment deals closely with competitors,
creditors, customers, labor, and suppliers. In assessing the competitive position of the
firm, the following criteria are usually dealt with: Market share, bread of product line,
effectiveness of sales distribution, proprietary and key account advantages, price
competitiveness, advertising promotion effectiveness, location of facility, capacity
and productivity, experience, financial position, relative product quality, and R D
advantages/position. Although mergers would truly aid Lilly in strengthening their
market position in all of the factors listed above.
Porter s Five Force in relation to Eli Lilly
New Entrants
One factor that comes into play with Eli Lilly is the threat of new entries to the
pharmaceutical industry. The threat comes into play through company diversification
in mergers, acquisitions and product differentiation. In the case of Eli Lilly, as they
continue to shrink, competitors are increasingly growing through acquisitions,
mergers, and differentiation of product. New entrants to the industry keeps the game
interesting and lively as the competition works to outdo each other. So threat of new
entrants is relatively high and Companies which forming alliances are potential rivals.

Social Issues In The 1970s
The new era of television was in full action with the introduction and production of
relevancy television shows; these shows no longer hid from social problems and
injustices, but rather used the world around them to create relevant and slightly
more complex storylines. Shows like Chico and the Man and Mary Tyler Moore
Show were examples of how televisionin the 1970s looked at social issues in spheres
that had been previously ignored by network producers and became platforms that
allowed the spread of information to the public about social, economic, and political
struggles of minorities and women. Even though the 1970s demonstrated a new and

Chicano/a activist gained a victory with the creation of Chico and the Man, as a
Latino man was made a protagonist of a Primetime television show. Even as Chico
and the Man was rallied for giving the Latino community a platform to voice their
concerns and lives, the writing team consisting of white men, inadvertently denied the
show to authentically express Latino problems. While the show did touch did touch
upon social injustices, these problems were written by men who had not experienced
them, therefore causing one community (white) to create an indemnity for another
(Chicano). The show focused on issues that existed in the Chicano/Latino
community, but it also belittled racial slurs that the main character Chico faced in
order to achieve the ideological balancing act. The show could be presented to a
greater audience by having Ed, the man, insult Chico because it continued the
rhetoric strategic of shows from the 50s. Chico and the Man had both a stance
against discrimination, shown by Chico s speech to the officers, and expressed
discrimination, seen in Ed s racist remarks, due to this ideological balancing

Eleanor Roosevelt ( 1884-1962 )
Eleanor Roosevelt (1884 1962), one of the most admired women in American
history, acted as first lady from 1933 until 1945, longer than any other presidential
spouse, and put that position on the nation s political map. Yet, ironically, Eleanor
did not want the job because she thought it would hamper her own self development
as an independent person. Through her own path breaking efforts she transformed
her role from official hostess to important spokesperson for her husband s
administration. In the process she became a role model for millions of Americans
who applauded her activism on behalf of social causes.
When her husband, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who had been unable to walk for eleven
years due to infantile paralysis, was elected president in the depths of the
Depression in 1932, she wrote in her autobiography that she was happy for him.
She believed that being president would make up for the blow that fate had dealt
him and that he would steer the country through the crisis confronting it.[1] But for
herself, she continued, I was deeply troubled. As I saw it, this meant the end of any
personal life of my own. . . . I had watched Mrs Theodore Roosevelt and had seen
what it meant to be the wife of a president, and I cannot say that I was pleased at the
prospect. [2] Before Franklin s election, Eleanor had launched her own career as a
writer and teacher. As she put it, By earning my own money, I had recently enjoyed a
certain amount of financial independence and

Creek area is where lead and zinc were mined from 1900 s to the 1960 s. When the
mining came to a halt over 500 million pounds of toxic waste was left over. This
waste, called chat, has caused elevated blood lead concentrations in as high as 43%
in some children. When the mines were abandoned they soon flooded. This
resulted in contaminated ground water, surface water, and soil. In 1983, the site

Epicureanism And Euthanasia
It is with reference to the Bourgeois society of France that Bernhard Groethuysen
has pointed out that when the approach of death is bespoke, the citizen seems to
lose all assurance. He cannot look death in the face. The educated layman would
prefer not to talk about it at all. Famously W.C Fields wanted his tombstone to say I
d rather be in Philadelphia when he would pass away, preferentially honest, the grave
being the last place he wanted to be.
The illusion of immorality and the denial of death has been the corrosive acid in man
s mind since the formation of life. The Hellenistic philosopher Epicurus view that
death is not to be feared has had an enormous impact on Western thought for over two
thousand years. In his letter addressing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typical is the claim of Ben Bradley, who endorses the assumptions of Jeff
McMahan (1988, 33; 2002, 104), that the view that death is bad for the one who
dies seems to me to be what McMahan calls a fixed point or starting point in ethics a
conviction that would require extremely convincing arguments to overcome if it
could be overturned at all (2004, 18) Silverstein writes of Epicureanism that just as
it does deny that one s death can be an intelligible evil for oneself, so it denies that
one can have a rational prudential desire to continue living (1980, p. 409). The
worry is that if death isn t bad, then it might be irrational for someone to make the
customary efforts to avoid death. Fred Feldman tackles a premise listed by
Epicurus, If death does not lead to anything intrinsically bad for the one who is
dead, then death is not extrinsically bad for the one who is dead . Rosenbaum
seems to agree with the Epicurean viewpoint, stating death cannot be a loss since
one does not experience as such however in his book confrontations with the
reaper, Fred Feldman argues that Epicurus has shown nothing intrinsically bad
happens for the person while he is dead. He goes on to state that I think it is
correct to say that death does not lead to, or cause, any painful experiences for the
one who dies. If death deprives him of a lot of pleasure, the pleasure he would have
enjoyed if he had not died, then death might be a huge misfortune. Thomas Nagel
takes a similar stance claiming that death, if it is an evil at all, can be so only
because of what it deprives us of much like Don Marquis argument involving the
legibility of abortion. The termination of the life of the foetus deprives the baby of
its future experiences. Many critics of Nagel such as Bradley would claim that the
typical view employed is that death is only bad for those whom have been

Shang And Zhou Dynasties
However, the manufacturing process of bronze vessels was complicated. The
majority of the bronzes in Shang and Zhou dynasties was cast in piece mold
technology, rather than lost wax method, that bronze vessels were cast in sectional
molds assembled around a solid central and that legs and handles were cast
separately and soldered on. The earliest bronzes were produced mostly with a single
mold and occasionally with two for production of double faced objects. In piece mold
casting, a model is made of the object to be cast, and a clay mold taken of the model.
The mold is then cut into sections to release the model, and the sections are

Persuasive Essay On Hunter Safety
Hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle
both mean you better be responsible. Dale Earnhardt. Earnhardt s quote is saying like
racing, hunting requires safety. Before the hunt can ever happen there are safety
precautions that must be learned. Hunting safety is essential to protect not only the

Hunter safety courses have been adopted by all states as a way of teaching novice
and veteran hunters how to be responsible and safe sportsman. Hunter safety class
are required in all states to hunt. Some states do not require this class if you are
born before a certain date. Other states only require the class only has to be taken if
you are between a certain age (Hunter Ed.com unit 1). One of the many topic learned
in hunter safety courses is the use the weapon.
A firearm is one of the weapons that may be used when hunting. A firearm utilizes
pressure produced from the burning of gunpowder to create gas. The pressure
produced from the burning powder propels a projectile out of the barrel at a target. In
rifles and most handguns the barrel has rifling on the inside of the barrel to make
the projectile spin to travel better in the air. Rifling are groove that spin as they go
through the inside of the barrel. Shotgun barrels are smooth and can fire slugs , a

The Salem Witch Trials was a hysterical tragedy that began in the Spring of 1692 in
Salem, Massachusetts. The beginning of the Witch Trials came after a group of
young women claimed to be possessed by the devil, claiming that witchcraft was the
cause of this possession. To rid Salem of this witchcraft, the people of Salem began

community in Salem, the young women were pressured to identify the witches,
influencing the young women to blame several women in the crime of witchcraft in
Salem. Once the initial wave of hysteria settled in Salem, special courts were made

these new strategic concepts to the test according to the historian Roberts8. He

Nt1330 Unit 6 Lab 1
Goal
The objectives of this lab were to install essential services such as Active Directory,
Dynamic Host Configuration Service, Domain Name Service and Network Time
Service on a Windows Server Platform. I used windows server 2016 technical review
version 3 and successfully installed all the mentioned services on it. In this lab we
used all services on windows as primary and I configured the services on Linux as
secondary services.
Security Consideration
One of the important part of system administration should be secure, so it is very
important to understand which factors can affect security inside and outside our

We need to have a secure services and network and also it must be available
sometime up to 24/7/365. To make sure that we are close to our Service level
agreement (SLA) with our clients, we must check our performance to find the
bottleneck. After identifying our bottlenecks we can plan and see what changes can
improve our performance.
To measure the performance I used Opsview monitoring solution to monitor both
DNS and DHCP on Linux and Windows server. Some sample tools like ping,
nslookup and traceroute can be used in Windows and Linux to measure the basic
metrics for DNS and DHCP. TO have a real data we need to test inside a real
network or with some means generate the amount of traffic near the real traffic to
find our network and services bottlenecks.
For DNS we need also to test how long it takes authoritative DNS servers to respond
to a request for your domain or host, including the Domain, the TLD, and the Root
DNS server response times. This test provides us with information to help identify
possible DNS hosting performance delays resolving our domain. It can be useful
when evaluating the DNS performance of hosting providers, and general
troubleshooting performance of a
Triple Alliance Dbq
World War I is estimated to have killed to an extent of 10 million people (background
essay) and costing up to 186 billion dollars. WWI began in 1914 and lasted until 1918
and regarded the European Empires. The annihilation which took place in the
European empires can be contributed to the unification and exclusion of countries, the
desire for world dominance, and the tensions surrounding militarism.
The alliance system that took place between the Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria
Hungary, and Italy) and Triple Entente (United Kingdom, Russia, and France) divided
the European empires beginning the war. According to document B both alliances
blamed each other from the start. By doing this both alliances were split against each
other creating a diversion. The background essay states, The great players were
picking sides this created a greater diversion between the empires. Geographically in
Document A the Triple Alliance were closer together and the Triple Entente

century the German people will be a hammer or an anvil. Germany felt threatened by
the power of others and craved that dominance the other countries had. German
propaganda was perceiving Britain as the bloodsucker of the world (Doc B)
essentially demonizing Britain. Germany portrays Britain this way because in
document F is states that Britain had the largest area and population making them
dominant over the other empires. As expected Britain endangered Germany s chance
at world dominance. Overall this desire for world dominance created distress between
the empires resulting in

A Research Study On Tools
B3c. Tools Each researchers study was either quantitative, qualitative or both also if
there are a subtype being used such as descriptive. Therefore, depending on the
method used the researchers may have used the same or different tools. The tools
utilized by a researcher for the aforementioned methods may include but are not
limited to the following: in depth interviews, dairies, rating scales, questionnaires,
audio equipment, physiological measurements, observation scoring, and software to
measure variables/statistical data as well as data bases to find sources for the research
being conducted (Houser, 2008f).
B3d. Effect on Results Some of the studies used as a basis for research in this
paper used a qualitative method this was the case in the study conducted by Bennett
et al. (2006) a focus group gathered on six separate occasions each time one
investigator would facilitate discussions while others audiotaped the dialogue and
general observations. This is a qualitative method and researcher attempt to
understand the importance of what the participants have stated all while looking for
themes or patterns in experience then analyze the data ways that preserve the
percipients meaning of words, phrases, and actions (Houser, 2008c). Hall et al.

Bowel preparation traditionally consists of cathartics, oral antibiotics, and
intravenous antibiotics. Previous studies have shown a strong relationship between
the use of antibiotic bowel preparations and a higher rate of postoperative
Clostridium difficile colitis due to disruption of the normal enteral microflora. Little
data exists to show the relationship between the use of oral mechanical bowel
solutions and the development of Clostridium difficile colitis. The aim of this study
is to see whether oral mechanical bowel solutions, by themselves, can be implicated
as causative agents in the development of Clostridium difficile colitis.

Group A (Surgery group) consisted of 894 patients. Out of those only 45 (0.05%)
had documented C. difficile infections. Furthermore, this subset of patients was
broken down further to 7 (0.16%) having C. difficile infection upon their
admission, 5 (0.11) who underwent emergent surgery and were excluded from the
study. 18 (0.4%) other patients also underwent a subtotal colectomy for fulminant
colitis and were also exluded. Of the remaining 3 patients, 2 (0.04%) had small
bowel obstruction and 1 (0.02%) was treated with antibiotics days to weeks prior
to admission, and so these patients were also excluded. This left us with 12 (27%)
patients who actually qualified for our study. This group was broken down to 9
(0.2%) patients who were diagnosed with C difficile infection past the 30 day grace
period, and 3 (0.07%) patients that were diagnosed within the 30 day grace period.
This data suggests that out of the 861 patients examined, only 12 (0.01%) were

John Adams Role Model
John Adams was born on October 30, 1735, on the family farm in the North
Precinct of Braintree, Massachusetts. He was the second of five children to his
parents John and Susanna Boylston Adams. John s father was his role model
because he wasn t only a farmer by trade, but he also took on many other time
consuming jobs around the community to help others. Everyone in his hometown in
some way dealt with him because he owned the titles of: the deacon of the church,
selectman, tax collector, constable, and the lieutenant of the militia. John s mother
was from a very wealthy Boston family, but infamous for having a bad temper. She
remarried in 1766 following the death of John s father five years earlier due to the
flu epidemic. John... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shockingly enough, John s reply to his father remained constant and portrays an
early example of his stubborn personality. Adam s was taught how to read by his
father before he even began attending grade school. When he turned five years old,
he began attending a small, local school. Afterwards, he then was present at a
Latin school that was a preparatory school for students that were planning to attend
college. John s father had a dream of John going to Harvard to become a minister.
Since his mother was brought up in an affluent family, Harvard wasn t a large
expense. John agreed to attend Harvard and to transform himself into a better
student, but only if he was allowed study under Joseph Marsh. With the consent of
his father, John entered Harvard at fifteen years old in 1751, and, as promised, his
grades dramatically improved. Although graduating at a modest fifteenth out of
twenty four students, he managed to finally achieve his goal of earning a Bachelor
of Arts degree in 1755. After graduation, John aspired to practice law, but he
quickly discovered that dreams don t always happen immediately. His first job was
the position of a schoolmaster at a school in Worcester, Massachusetts. John was not

poster has very nominal colors, making it easier for the viewers to see the desire in

Loyalty In Flawed And The Whale Rider
Everybody expects their friends to be loyal. This is because we have chosen to
become loyal to them and we expect the same behaviour towards us. I have chosen
to explore the theme; loyalty lies with people who are loyal to you. This theme is
evident in the novels Animal Farm by George Orwell, Flawed by Cecelia Ahern and
films The Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro and The Imitation Game directed by
Morten Tyldum. These each show loyalties changing and adapting through the music.
In the book Flawed by Cecelia Ahern, Celestine North has a very respectable
relationship with the leader of the Guild, Bosco Crevan. The Guild is an organisation

the leader of the animals, always believed in an ideal way to live on the farm, called
Animalism. Animalism was condensed into seven laws, known as the seven
commandments. These were created by Napoleon, Snowball and Squealer, the three
pigs. At the beginning of the book, Napoleon is trying to gain the other animal s
trust and their loyalty. The other animals were doing the same for him. Throughout
the book, Napoleon is slowly taking over the farm and is slowly changing the rules
of Animalism. After the expulsion of Snowball, Napoleon takes charge and changes

development of serious, disabling complications (w). There are numerous forms of
diabetes amongst the nation, however, there are three main forms of diabetes. Most
people have heard of type one diabetes, type two diabetes, and gestational diabetes

The Alternative Philosophies Of Education
While children with Autism exhibit difficulties empathizing with others, and they pay
less attention to others emotional displays then their typically developing peers
(Hooper Umansky, 2014). Recess provides time in the day for this emotional growth
in students with Autism and EBDB. Play can help young children organize and
manage their feelings, and for children who do not verbal express themselves, such as
children with Autism, play can be used to allow them to express their feelings,
conflicts, and concerns. Through social interactions with typical peers, students with
EBDB and Autism practice emotional regulation, as well as emotional understanding.
Both of these important skills are used throughout the child s life as they grow, and
for children with EBDB and Autism, additional support and practice is needed in
order for mastery. Alternative Philosophies of Education Progressive approaches to
early childhood education from Europe use physical activity throughout the school
day to help shape intelligent and creative children. These approaches are the Waldorf,
Montessori and Reggio Emilia which are seen as strong educational alternatives to
traditional education and as sources of inspiration for progressive educational reform
(Edwards, 2002, p. 2). Waldorf education created by Rudolf Steiner focuses on the
unity of spirit, soul and body. Outdoor activity is integrated into the curriculum
through nature walks, working in gardens, and extended playtime. Through
The Contributions of Isaac Newton Essays
Isaac Newton was born in Lincolnshire, on December 25, 1642. He was educated at
Trinity College in Cambridge, and resided there from 1661 to 1696 during which
time he produced the majority of his work in mathematics. During this time New ton
developed several theories, such as his fundamental principles of gravitation, his
theory on optics otherwise known as the Lectiones Opticae, and his work with the
Binomial Theorem. This is only a few theories that that Isaac Newtoncontributed to
the world of mathematics. Newton contributed to all aspects of mathematics
including geometry, algebra, and physics. Isaac Newton was born into a poor
farming family in 1642 with no father. Newton s father had passed away just a few

Later he read and mastered Oughtred s Clavis, and Descartes Geometry, which led
him to take up mathematics rather than chemistry as a serious study.
As a result of the Plague, from 1665 threw 1666 Newton had spent a great deal of
time at home. During this time it seems evident that a great deal of his best work was
accomplished. He thought out the fundamental principles of his theory of gravitation.
He determined that every particle of matter attracts every other particle. Yet he
suspected that the attraction varied depending on the product of their masses. He
suspected that the force, which retained the moon in its orbit around the earth, was
the same as the terrestrial gravity. And to prove this hypothesis he proceeded by
doing this. He knew that if a stone wall were allowed to fall near the surface of the
earth, the attraction of the earth caused the stone wall to move though sixteen feet in
one second.
The moon s orbit relative to the earth is nearly a circle, and as a rough
approximation assuming so, he knew the distance of the moon, and therefore the
length of its path. He also knew the time it took the moon to go around the earth
once, a month. Therefore Newton could find its veloisty at any point such as M.
Then he could find the distance MT through which it would move in the next second
if it were not pulled by the earth s attraction. At the end of the second it was at

Asset management policies and procedures guides are an important part of better

Principles and mandated requirements derived from, and consistent with, the
organizational strategic plan . (Theiam.org, 2015) An asset management policy and
procedure s guide evidently institutes what is vital to record, account for, manage
and protect assets within the organisation. These guides can also be designed in a
way that provides an advantageous direction on managing assets on a day to day
basis. Asset management policies also reinforce the objectives of the organisation and
its strategic direction as a result

Noise characterisation is a critical research area for varied domains and applications.
The domains include marine, aviation, transport, civil engineering etc. The
applications could include numerous military and non military applications like
fatigue failures in material, human comfort, acoustics stealth, marine mammal habitat
assessment, condition based monitoring of machineries etc. In many engineering
situations, machines are mounted on flexible structures such as the ships deck,
aircraft fuselage, car or train chasis, building floors etc.
When in operation machines may transmit noise and vibrations to the receiving
structures, causing unwanted noise and vibration problems close to remote from

Thus an accurate characterization of the dynamic behaviour of vibrating system and
emanating noise with respect to its frequency, amplitude, and power over a broad
range of frequencies is needed to develop reliable simulation models, suggest passive
design strategies and propose active control concepts. [2]. Three elements namely the
source, path and receiver play an important role in noise generation and transmission.
The field of acoustics and vibration majorly deals with the characterisation and
control of noise source and noise transmission path ( air borne and structure borne
paths). While for airborne sound, a sourcepath receiver model has been a practically
proven model, inherent physical problems have prevented a similar approach being
adopted for structure borne sound. Also, most Literature have stated that it is the
structure borne sound source which are the main cause of noise problems [3], [4]
and due complexity of built up structures, characterisation of structure borne noise
source and transmission has been a major field of applied research till date. Most
research publications available on sound shielding pertains to problem connected
with lessening noise in industrial, housing, public buildings and surface and air
transport vehicles. The field of shipboard acoustics has found relatively weak
expression in scientific and technical literature till as far as 1960s. Ship board
acoustics are distinguished from architectural acoustics by several

Descartes wonders what else that he can know by using this same logic, but first
must establish the idea of God and that God is not deceiving him. He reasons that
God exists because he as a mortal could not create the idea of such a powerful
being, and only a being as powerful as God could have caused an idea of a God that
is perfect. Descartes goes on to reason that because God is perfect, then God would
not deceive him about anything. It s not that Descartes is being deceived, but
rather his lack of knowledge or understanding about the matters at hand is causing
the problem he is facing. Descartes is now clear on his perception of God so he
looks at material things. He points out that a body must exist in reality, because for
him to dream about his body, it must exist before he would know what to dream
about. So although he can perceive qualities of material things, he is still confused
about some things because of is imperfect perception. He concludes that the senses
are meant to help him get around in the world, not to lead him to the truth. (

Trade Unions And Child Labor
Please, sir, I want some more. (Dickens, date, p. ?) Although not provocative today,
this quote became extremely famous because it calls into question the practice of
child labor. Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickson, was written in the Victorian era when
factories and businesses were notorious for employing young children. Charles
Dickensused his book, to bring a new connotation and worldwide exposure to the
exploitation of children. In fact, the issue of Child labor still remains a persistent
problem In the current modern world. Child labor, as defined by the International
Labor Organization, is work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential

These children need social and professional skills that only school and a nurturing
environment can provide. Education gives people hope, confidence and dignity. It
equips them with knowledge and skills to escape poverty. Education must be free and
compulsory up until the minimum legal age for employment. For India, the country
believed to have the highest absolute number of child laborers, it has been assumed
that 70 percent of these children would go to school if given the opportunity of free
education of a minimum quality (Burra, Born To Work, 1995). Several studies
conducted by international organizations such as The International Labour Standards,
The United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund, The United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and World Bank have confirmed
that education can reduce child labor (Kruger, 2007, Observations On International
Labor Standards And Trade). According to Bhat (2010 ) Gender, Education and Child

for example education can make children develop and learn resulting in intelligent
societies in the future, besides education can provide skilled workers. Education can
also improve the life of children and their families. Children who lack education or
drop out of their school, usually lack knowledge and are more vulnerable to
exploitation. As a result they become
Influence of Religion on the Civil Rights Movement
Influence of Religion on the Civil Rights Movement
Religion has had a profound effect on numerous events throughout the course of
American history. The Civil Rights Movement was not withheld from the influence
of religion, particularly Christianity and Islam. Many of the key players such as
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, who were devoted to the cause of justice and
equality for African Americans, gained their passion from their spiritual roots.
Through these religious leaders organizations were established to fight for civil
rights. It was through these religious men and the religion of blacks that the fight for
equality gained enthusiasm and courage to fight oppression and discrimination.
Opposition also came from religion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schwerner, Chaney and Goodman were not civil rights workers. They were
Communist Revolutionaries, actively working to undermine and destroy Christian
Civilization (Mathisen 576). Later on in the interview the KKK affiliate declared that
Lyndon B. Johnson, a president known for his support of the Civil Rights Movement,
is a communist sympathizer (Mathisen 576). This member was clearly discussing the
Civil Rights activists. He proclaims that they were tainting the Christian religion,
which is why they were killed and are missing. This notion brings up religion as a
contributor to their own views against African Americans. The KKK uses words from
the Holy Bible and teachings from Protestant Reverends to support its cause and
justify its actions (Fisher 1). They truly rationalize their superiority complex and their
brutality to blacks by the Christian faith. By using Christianity, they too obtained
unity against the Civil Rights Movement.
The Ku Klux Klan was not the only notorious adversary of civil rights. A
prominent opponent of the fight for African American equality and was the Baptist
minister, Jerry Falwell. Falwell was a strong supporter of segregation and believed
that based on the bible, Africans were the cursed descendants of Ham, and worthy
only of subservience to white people (Kimberley 1). In Genesis of the bible Ham
was cursed by his father, Noah, for disrespecting him. Through this,
Women In The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
The narration in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow functions as a way to give authority
to the women of Tarry Town. This power of feminine is elicit by Washington Irving
who gives respect and superiority to women indirectly, but yet evidently through third

s women by illustrating their agency to beget the downfall of Ichabod.
Irving draws out Katrina Van Tassel only in relation to the farm not to demean her,
but rather to bring out her importance in the town to expose the dominance of women

to bare the fact they are needed to sustain and conceive future generations of the town.
Katrina initiates to uphold her agency by gaining Ichabod s affections through her
flirtatious conduct which parallels with the women of town who are looked upon by
Ichabod due to their storytelling skills. The narrator uses diction to initially elicit
Katrina as a modern independent lady who
She [is] withal a little of a coquette, as might be perceived even in her dress, which
[is] a mixture of ancient and modern fashions, as most suited to set her charms. She
wore...short petticoat to display the prettiest foot and ankle in the country round.
[Ichabod] passes long winter evening with the Old Dutch wives... and listen to their
marvellous tales of ghosts...
In the first passage Katrina s independence is illustrated through the use if vivid
imagery language. For instance she is perceived negatively as a coquette who
willingly displays herself to the men of the village. This brings out the power of
woman in the town because she has freedom of clothing which is of ancient and
modern fashion. Through this Irving inexplicitly states that Katrina is
Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Herman Melville
In short, Herman Melville s story Bartleby, the scrivener , tells the tale of a
successful lawyer hiring a new copyist and the challenges he faced with his new
hire. Initially, the new hire, Bartleby, was extremely driven and very efficient. He
had a great work ethic, and had an extraordinary output of writing for the head
lawyer. On the third day Bartlebystunned his boss by preferring not to comply with
his boss s request. Bartleby s refusal to comply was at first directed at anything
outside of his copyistresponsibilities, but gradually shifted toward refusing to do
anything including his responsibilities as a copyist. Upon further analysis into
Bartleby s descent from a productive scrivener, to utterly useless in the office. I have
found a connection between the people that isolate others because of differences,
and the people that choose to stray away from normal behavior . This impacts the
isolated person, people are negatively impacted when they live in isolation and have
little personal and emotional connection with others. Without any emotional
connection or contact with others, humans lose their purpose in life, or become
useless like in Bartleby in the office. Refusing to do any work did not deter
Bartleby from the office. In fact, he used the office for everything in his life such as
sleep, shaving, eating and spending all of his time. Bartleby lived in the office in
complete isolation from anyone else in the world besides his coworkers. With

Comparing the Advertising of Different Companies of a Non Gender Specific Product
For my essay I am going to compare and contrast the advertising of different
companies of a non gender specific product, namely music systems. I am going to
look at examples of print adverts and language specifically from TEAC Systems
and compare them to rivals in the market place. In this essay I am going to look
specifically at the interesting campaign running for TEAC stereo systems. The
campaign is highly gendered and revolves around sexually attractive women wearing
very little, and suggestive copy. The adverts are definitely relying on the sex sells
line of promotion. Looking at the image with the three women and the man , The ...

Sony are trying to tell you that you are existing in the real world. However, it
implies that unless you have Sony products you are not getting the best out of life,
and that applies wherever you are, working, driving, et cetera. TEAC s statement
that Listening to TEAC can seriously damage your single status. Is a wholly
unbelievable statement. Therein lies the difference between the two statements.
Music to some people, myself included, does add something to your life. However,
Sony have twisted the idea slightly. Owning the Sony stereo does not add life to you
world, it is the music that is played on them. The Sony quote is more subtle and
realistically believable, all the things the TEAC quote is not.
All the TEAC stereos look gorgeous in a champagne metal finish. This use of
association between champagne/success/TEAC offers another piece of gendered
marketing. Almost every stereo on sale today is finished in metal, plastic that looks
like metal, or jet black. There is no alternative that might be more appealing to the
female market. I am not however, suggesting that women would not like the male
associated finishes, but while talking about this essay to female colleagues, I was
informed that at least two girls would like to have a pink stereo. While this is a
stereotypical colour association, it still highlights that there must be a market for
stereos that are aimed specifically at the female
Gideon s Trumpet Essay
Gideon s Trumpet On the morning of January 8th 1962, the Supreme Court
received mail from prisoner 003826 of Florida State Prison, also known as
Clarence Earl Gideon. In the envelope contained a hand written letter with
questionable grammar from Gideon claiming that he was denied a fair trial due to
the absence of a lawyer. Gideon s writ of certiorari was an in forma pauperis
petition or pauper s petition. Due to the fact that most paupers petitions are from
inmates who do not have the legal means to properly file a certiorari, the Court had
special methods of handling cases such as Gideon s. Paupers petitions according to
Justice Frankfurter were almost unintelligible and certainly do not present a clear
statement of issues necessary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main challenge Gideon needed to overcome was the regulations instituted by
the 1942 court case Betts v. Brady. Betts v. Brady established that only in special
circumstances were impoverished criminals entitled to counsel. These special
circumstances often required some form of mental or physical disability in which
Clarence Earl Gideon did not have. The courts had to then examine if legal counsel
was an essential right to due process. Although Gideon was not given counsel
during his state trial, his case had traveled its way to the Supreme Court which
allowed him to obtain a lawyer. On June 22nd 1962, the Court appointed Abe Fortas,
a Washington lawyer. Fortas had to make the hard decision of choosing whether to
attempt to overturn the Betts v. Brady case or undertake the challenge of proving
that Gideon fell under the special circumstances principle. Through numerous
correspondences with Gideon, Fortas decided to try and overturn Betts v. Brady.
Fortas main obstacle with the Gideon case was proving that counsel was necessary
to Justices Frankfurter and Black who symbolically represented two differing judicial
philosophies. Justice Frankfurter was often associated with the phrase Judicial self
restraint . His ideology preferred judicial matters to be solved within congress and the
states. Frankfurter believed that relying too much on judges would hinder the
freedoms of the people and corrupt the nation s concept of democracy. Justice John

We Wear Mask
An Analysis of We Wear the Mask In a world where pain is mocked, and genuine
kindness is ridiculed, members of our society have grown to feel that it is necessary
to hide, and create false images to protect our inner selves. Paul Laurence Dunbar s
poem, We Wear the Mask , uses strategic iambic tetrameter as well as symbolism to
emphasis and display the natural man s tendencies to hide behind metaphorical
masks. In his poem, Dunbar uses imagery that allows the reader to visualize the
person hiding behind the mask. He discusses what the mask hides, our cheeks , our
eyes , our tears and sighs , implying that the mask is a carefully plotted façade
which is meant to shield a truly broken person from the harsh, unforgiving world.

The Horrific Duration Of The Holocaust
The horrendous duration of the Holocaust was a dark time in human history. Millions
of
Jewish people died along with African Americans, disabled people, and anyone
who did not fit into the Nazi regime. During this time of persecution, there were
people who did not take action to help their fellow neighbors and decided to be
bystanders. But in the midst of terrified silence, a Capuchin priest resolved to break
the silence. PГЁre Marie BenoГ®t was a member of the
Catholic Church when Jews were being taken to concentration camps to face a
dreadful demise.
Unlike many of his fellow church members, he decided to take action and help as
many people as he could. A concise review of PГЁre Marie BenoГ®t s life will help
show the amazing effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was raised during a time where French leaders were very prejudiced against
Catholic establishments, which included schools (Picker 152). This did not deter
him evidently, as he discovered he wanted to become a priest at the young age of
12 (Zuccotti 54). PГ©re Paulin, a Capuchin friar at the time, mentored young
PГЁre on Catholic duties (Zuccotti 20). When he got older, PГЁre moved to Bruest
Esyden in the Netherlands to study theology at a Capuchin school (Zuccotti 22). He
did not stay at home because of the French ban forbidding members of religious
orders to teach at schools (Zuccotti 54). He was still living in the Netherlands in
1914 when World War 1 broke out.
Abandoning his studies, PГЁre moved back to France to join the military where he
served as a medic and a stretcher bearer (Zuccotti 54). During this time, he would
often send letters to his spiritual leader and mentor, presumably for guidance and
encouragement (Picker 152). He received numerous citations for his time in service
actions such as tending to soldiers and rescuing people on the field (Zuccotti 27).
Unfortunately, he had to be hospitalized for a few months due to a leg wound he
received while in service (Zuccotti 54). After the war, he returned back to Netherlands
in 1919 to continue his studies.
As his professors watched him pass his classes with flying colors, he was chosen to
transfer to the International College of Saint Lawrence of Brindisi in Rome (Zuccotti
38). When he got there
Ban Plastic Water Bottles
A.Attention Getter: According to Tilley, K. (2013, August 26) More endangered sea
turtles ingesting plastic, there are almost twice as many endangered green sea turtles
swallowing plastic than were 25 years ago, according to an Australia study. We are
impacting the animal cycle, furthermore they are our food source, which will affect
us too.
B.Background and Audience Relevance: Everyone including newborn babies uses
Plastic bottles. According to Petz. S (2009, October 15) Science, Clean Water Out of
the 50 billion bottles of water being bought each year, 80% end up in a landfill, even
though recycling programs exist. . Which takes an impact to the plastic trash that
travels to what is now a garbage patch in the Pacific Ocean. We are the reason for
the global warning, leak of chemicals in our food and water supplies. Yes, water
bottles do make it easier for us to carry around but what we don t know if that our
pocket is paying the price of pollution leading to health issues.
C.Speaker Credibility: I was one of the people that used water bottles because it
made it easier for me to have water throughout the day. However, after researching
and having a first hand experience with seeing animals that died due to plastic water
bottles. I chose to make less of an impact on our environment.
D.Thesis: Plastic water bottles were created to make our life easier; however the
pollution it has made has linked to cancer and chemicals not known fifty years ago.

  • 4. Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium Chloride How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the ammonium nitrate and the calcium chloride? Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it demonstrates how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries mainly. Cold packs help heal sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the inflicted area and make the blood vessels tighten, which lowers the inflammation and pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium nitrate or some other salt and fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate from the ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed, the cold pack is squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the ammonium nitrate to mix. The ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and creates the cold pack. The cold pack is used to decrease the effect of increased blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to increase blood flow to an area, such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the affected area and makes the blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the cold pack does, but instead of ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride. Therefore, when a hot pack is needed the pad is squeezed and the water and the calcium chloride mix, which creates the hot pack. There are new concepts that relate to this lab, such as exothermic and endothermic reactions. Endothermic reactions
  • 5. Viruses Can Infect Different Types Of Living Organisms Viruses Viruses are also small particles which can infect different types of living organisms. Viruses are known as parasitic which means they can only live in other organisms for example humans and can only reproduce inside living cells and damage the cell when doing this. When a virus is inside a cell they can make copies of itself, eventually this will fill the living cell and it could potentially burst which means the virus cells will be passed into the bloodstream, the airways or other routes. Viruses can come in different shapes as they don t have a specific cell structure. The cells have a core of genetic material which is surrounded by a protein coat. The genetic information that they hold can either be DNA or RNA but cannot be both {6}. Just like bacteria viruses can be found anywhere as long as there are cells to infect. Some viruses can enter a cell and not cause any damage until passed onto another one, but most viruses do tend to cause damage to a cell {7}. Helpful microorganisms ... Yoghurt is also made by boiling milk and adding bacteria to it as the bacteria turns the sugar in the milk to acid, the acid then makes the milk go thick and stops any harmful bacteria growing in the yoghurt. Dead leaves also contain bacteria as the bacteria will feed on the leaves and break them down into nutrients. The nutrients then go back into the soil where they can be used by plants {8}. Yeast cells can also be used to make alcoholic drinks such as beer and wine. Bacteria can also make cheese, vinegar, compost and silage. Yeast can break down sugars in the absence of oxygen; this is known as fermentation which is the production of ethanol. Fermentation is used to make alcoholic drinks such as beer and wine

Social Issues In The 1970s The new era of television was in full action with the introduction and production of relevancy television shows; these shows no longer hid from social problems and injustices, but rather used the world around them to create relevant and slightly more complex storylines. Shows like Chico and the Man and Mary Tyler Moore Show were examples of how televisionin the 1970s looked at social issues in spheres that had been previously ignored by network producers and became platforms that allowed the spread of information to the public about social, economic, and political struggles of minorities and women. While the show did touch did touch upon social injustices, these problems were written by men who had not experienced them, therefore causing one community (white) to create an indemnity for another (Chicano). The show focused on issues that existed in the Chicano/Latino community, but it also belittled racial slurs that the main character Chico faced in order to achieve the ideological balancing act. The show could be presented to a greater audience by having Ed, the man, insult Chico because it continued the rhetoric strategic of shows from the 50s. Chico and the Man had both a stance against discrimination, shown by Chico s speech to the officers, and expressed discrimination, seen in Ed s racist remarks, due to this ideological balancing

  • 10. Eleanor Roosevelt ( 1884-1962 ) Eleanor Roosevelt (1884 1962), one of the most admired women in American history, acted as first lady from 1933 until 1945, longer than any other presidential spouse, and put that position on the nation s political map. Yet, ironically, Eleanor did not want the job because she thought it would hamper her own self development as an independent person. Through her own path breaking efforts she transformed her role from official hostess to important spokesperson for her husband s administration. In the process she became a role model for millions of Americans who applauded her activism on behalf of social causes. When her husband, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who had been unable to walk for eleven years due to infantile paralysis, was elected president in the depths of the Depression in 1932, she wrote in her autobiography that she was happy for him. She believed that being president would make up for the blow that fate had dealt him and that he would steer the country through the crisis confronting it.[1] But for herself, she continued, I was deeply troubled. As I saw it, this meant the end of any personal life of my own. . . . I had watched Mrs Theodore Roosevelt and had seen what it meant to be the wife of a president, and I cannot say that I was pleased at the prospect. [2] Before Franklin s election, Eleanor had launched her own career as a writer and teacher. As she put it, By earning my own money, I had recently enjoyed a certain amount of financial independence and

  • 12. Epicureanism And Euthanasia It is with reference to the Bourgeois society of France that Bernhard Groethuysen has pointed out that when the approach of death is bespoke, the citizen seems to lose all assurance. He cannot look death in the face. The educated layman would prefer not to talk about it at all. Famously W.C Fields wanted his tombstone to say I d rather be in Philadelphia when he would pass away, preferentially honest, the grave being the last place he wanted to be. The illusion of immorality and the denial of death has been the corrosive acid in man s mind since the formation of life. The Hellenistic philosopher Epicurus view that death is not to be feared has had an enormous impact on Western thought for over two thousand years. In his letter addressing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Typical is the claim of Ben Bradley, who endorses the assumptions of Jeff McMahan (1988, 33; 2002, 104), that the view that death is bad for the one who dies seems to me to be what McMahan calls a fixed point or starting point in ethics a conviction that would require extremely convincing arguments to overcome if it could be overturned at all (2004, 18) Silverstein writes of Epicureanism that just as it does deny that one s death can be an intelligible evil for oneself, so it denies that one can have a rational prudential desire to continue living (1980, p. 409). The worry is that if death isn t bad, then it might be irrational for someone to make the customary efforts to avoid death. Fred Feldman tackles a premise listed by Epicurus, If death does not lead to anything intrinsically bad for the one who is dead, then death is not extrinsically bad for the one who is dead . Rosenbaum seems to agree with the Epicurean viewpoint, stating death cannot be a loss since one does not experience as such however in his book confrontations with the reaper, Fred Feldman argues that Epicurus has shown nothing intrinsically bad happens for the person while he is dead. He goes on to state that I think it is correct to say that death does not lead to, or cause, any painful experiences for the one who dies. If death deprives him of a lot of pleasure, the pleasure he would have enjoyed if he had not died, then death might be a huge misfortune. Thomas Nagel takes a similar stance claiming that death, if it is an evil at all, can be so only because of what it deprives us of much like Don Marquis argument involving the legibility of abortion. The termination of the life of the foetus deprives the baby of its future experiences. Many critics of Nagel such as Bradley would claim that the typical view employed is that death is only bad for those whom have been

He thought out the fundamental principles of his theory of gravitation. He determined that every particle of matter attracts every other particle. Yet he suspected that the attraction varied depending on the product of their masses. He suspected that the force, which retained the moon in its orbit around the earth, was the same as the terrestrial gravity. And to prove this hypothesis he proceeded by doing this. He knew that if a stone wall were allowed to fall near the surface of the earth, the attraction of the earth caused the stone wall to move though sixteen feet in one second. The moon s orbit relative to the earth is nearly a circle, and as a rough approximation assuming so, he knew the distance of the moon, and therefore the length of its path. He also knew the time it took the moon to go around the earth once, a month. Therefore Newton could find its veloisty at any point such as M. Then he could find the distance MT through which it would move in the next second if it were not pulled by the earth s attraction. At the end of the second it was at

The field of acoustics and vibration majorly deals with the characterisation and control of noise source and noise transmission path ( air borne and structure borne paths). While for airborne sound, a sourcepath receiver model has been a practically proven model, inherent physical problems have prevented a similar approach being adopted for structure borne sound. Also, most Literature have stated that it is the structure borne sound source which are the main cause of noise problems [3], [4] and due complexity of built up structures, characterisation of structure borne noise source and transmission has been a major field of applied research till date. Most research publications available on sound shielding pertains to problem connected with lessening noise in industrial, housing, public buildings and surface and air transport vehicles. The field of shipboard acoustics has found relatively weak expression in scientific and technical literature till as far as 1960s. Ship board acoustics are distinguished from architectural acoustics by several

Descartes wonders what else that he can know by using this same logic, but first must establish the idea of God and that God is not deceiving him. He reasons that God exists because he as a mortal could not create the idea of such a powerful being, and only a being as powerful as God could have caused an idea of a God that is perfect. Descartes goes on to reason that because God is perfect, then God would not deceive him about anything. It s not that Descartes is being deceived, but rather his lack of knowledge or understanding about the matters at hand is causing the problem he is facing. Descartes is now clear on his perception of God so he looks at material things. He points out that a body must exist in reality, because for him to dream about his body, it must exist before he would know what to dream about. So although he can perceive qualities of material things, he is still confused about some things because of is imperfect perception. He concludes that the senses are meant to help him get around in the world, not to lead him to the truth. Although not provocative today, this quote became extremely famous because it calls into question the practice of child labor. Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickson, was written in the Victorian era when factories and businesses were notorious for employing young children. Charles Dickensused his book, to bring a new connotation and worldwide exposure to the exploitation of children. In fact, the issue of Child labor still remains a persistent problem In the current modern world. For India, the country believed to have the highest absolute number of child laborers, it has been assumed that 70 percent of these children would go to school if given the opportunity of free education of a minimum quality (Burra, Born To Work, 1995). Several studies conducted by international organizations such as The International Labour Standards, The United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and World Bank have confirmed that education can reduce child labor (Kruger, 2007, Observations On International Labor Standards And Trade). Influence of Religion on the Civil Rights Movement Influence of Religion on the Civil Rights Movement Religion has had a profound effect on numerous events throughout the course of American history. The Civil Rights Movement was not withheld from the influence of religion, particularly Christianity and Islam. Many of the key players such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, who were devoted to the cause of justice and equality for African Americans, gained their passion from their spiritual roots. Through these religious leaders organizations were established to fight for civil rights. It was through these religious men and the religion of blacks that the fight for equality gained enthusiasm and courage to fight oppression and discrimination. Opposition also came from religion, ... He proclaims that they were tainting the Christian religion, which is why they were killed and are missing. This notion brings up religion as a contributor to their own views against African Americans. The KKK uses words from the Holy Bible and teachings from Protestant Reverends to support its cause and justify its actions (Fisher 1). They truly rationalize their superiority complex and their brutality to blacks by the Christian faith. By using Christianity, they too obtained unity against the Civil Rights Movement. The Ku Klux Klan was not the only notorious adversary of civil rights. A prominent opponent of the fight for African American equality and was the Baptist minister, Jerry Falwell. This power of feminine is elicit by Washington Irving who gives respect and superiority to women indirectly, but yet evidently through third person narration. Furthermore through Katrina he parallels the power of Tarry Town s women by illustrating their agency to beget the downfall of Ichabod. Irving draws out Katrina Van Tassel only in relation to the farm not to demean her, but rather to bring out her importance in the town to expose the dominance of women in Tarry Town. Katrina initiates to uphold her agency by gaining Ichabod s affections through her flirtatious conduct which parallels with the women of town who are looked upon by Ichabod due to their storytelling skills. The narrator uses diction to initially elicit Katrina as a modern independent lady who She [is] withal a little of a coquette, as might be perceived even in her dress, which [is] a mixture of ancient and modern fashions, as most suited to set her charms. Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Herman Melville In short, Herman Melville s story Bartleby, the scrivener , tells the tale of a successful lawyer hiring a new copyist and the challenges he faced with his new hire. Initially, the new hire, Bartleby, was extremely driven and very efficient. He had a great work ethic, and had an extraordinary output of writing for the head lawyer. On the third day Bartlebystunned his boss by preferring not to comply with his boss s request. Bartleby s refusal to comply was at first directed at anything outside of his copyistresponsibilities, but gradually shifted toward refusing to do anything including his responsibilities as a copyist. Upon further analysis into Bartleby s descent from a productive scrivener, to utterly useless in the office. I have found a connection between the people that isolate others because of differences, and the people that choose to stray away from normal behavior . This impacts the isolated person, people are negatively impacted when they live in isolation and have little personal and emotional connection with others. Without any emotional connection or contact with others, humans lose their purpose in life, or become useless like in Bartleby in the office. Refusing to do any work did not deter Bartleby from the office. In fact, he used the office for everything in his life such as sleep, shaving, eating and spending all of his time. Bartleby lived in the office in complete isolation from anyone else in the world besides his coworkers. With seemingly no

TEAC s statement that Listening to TEAC can seriously damage your single status. Is a wholly unbelievable statement. Therein lies the difference between the two statements. Music to some people, myself included, does add something to your life. However, Sony have twisted the idea slightly. Owning the Sony stereo does not add life to you world, it is the music that is played on them. The Sony quote is more subtle and realistically believable, all the things the TEAC quote is not. All the TEAC stereos look gorgeous in a champagne metal finish. This use of association between champagne/success/TEAC offers another piece of gendered marketing. Almost every stereo on sale today is finished in metal, plastic that looks like metal, or jet black. There is no alternative that might be more appealing to the female market. I am not however, suggesting that women would not like the male associated finishes, but while talking about this essay to female colleagues, I was informed that at least two girls would like to have a pink stereo. While this is a stereotypical colour association, it still highlights that there must be a market for stereos that are aimed specifically at the female

Gideon s writ of certiorari was an in forma pauperis petition or pauper s petition. The main challenge Gideon needed to overcome was the regulations instituted by the 1942 court case Betts v. Brady. Betts v. Brady established that only in special circumstances were impoverished criminals entitled to counsel. These special circumstances often required some form of mental or physical disability in which Clarence Earl Gideon did not have. The courts had to then examine if legal counsel was an essential right to due process. Although Gideon was not given counsel during his state trial, his case had traveled its way to the Supreme Court which allowed him to obtain a lawyer. On June 22nd 1962, the Court appointed Abe Fortas, a Washington lawyer. Fortas had to make the hard decision of choosing whether to attempt to overturn the Betts v. Brady case or undertake the challenge of proving that Gideon fell under the special circumstances principle. Through numerous correspondences with Gideon, Fortas decided to try and overturn Betts v. Brady. Fortas main obstacle with the Gideon case was proving that counsel was necessary to Justices Frankfurter and Black who symbolically represented two differing judicial philosophies. Justice Frankfurter was often associated with the phrase Judicial self restraint . His ideology preferred judicial matters to be solved within congress and the states. Frankfurter believed that relying too much on judges would hinder the freedoms of the people and corrupt the nation s concept of democracy. Justice John Marshall

In his poem, Dunbar uses imagery that allows the reader to visualize the person hiding behind the mask. He did not stay at home because of the French ban forbidding members of religious orders to teach at schools (Zuccotti 54). He was still living in the Netherlands in 1914 when World War 1 broke out. Abandoning his studies, PГЁre moved back to France to join the military where he served as a medic and a stretcher bearer (Zuccotti 54). During this time, he would often send letters to his spiritual leader and mentor, presumably for guidance and encouragement (Picker 152).
