Williams drew heavily from his own life experiences for his play A Streetcar Named Desire. Like the play's main character Blanche DuBois, Williams came from a wealthy family in the South but struggled with mental health issues. He felt like an outsider and used writing as an escape, just as Blanche uses imagination and memories of the past to cope. The turbulent relationship between Blanche and Stanley mirrors tensions Williams felt between his feminine artistic side and the masculine expectations of society. Scenes where Blanche is bullied and sexually assaulted also parallel Williams' own experiences with harassment as a

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Executive Summary Wentworth Industrial Cleaning Supplies is an organization whose potential is
currently clouded by their lack of competitive strategy. Through analysis of their current situation,
several key issues were identified: * Market Research is ineffective and unimplemented * Product line
ignores majority of market * Roles of key personnel are illogical and inefficient * Relations with
distributors are hostile and unsustainable * Profits and growth is stagnant in an advancing industry *
Communication mechanism is fragmented After evaluation of the alternative courses WICS has for

Moreover, SSDs feel neglected in the sense that they lack direct communication to management level
WICS employees and/or the ability to relay their concerns/recommendations via area managers.
Distributor Relations The perceived subjection to pressure tactics and the lack of belief in WICS
products amongst distributors is an ongoing promotional issue that must be immediately addressed. As
well, the combination of WICS current high minimum buy ins and lack of communication between
SSDs and management level WICS staff has yielded an environment retardant to growth for WICS
products. WICS refusal to grow geographically with its respective SSDs is limiting both to SSD
relations and company growth. Requiring SSDs to beta test WICS products is detrimental to both
WICS brand image and once again, SSD relations. Because the products currently require timely
demonstrations, high sales costs for SSDs have occurred. Recommendations Additional Duties for
Territorial Managers The territory managers will be responsible for hunting new distributor clients that
would work with WICS and assigning them to an area manager. The territory manager will allocate
the new distributor to a manager in accordance with the ratio that we have in place: 1 Territory

6. A Walk In The Clouds Review
In an era when harsh actuality of everyday life propels one to the realm of insanity, to a
pharmaceutically induced sleep, or to a dreadful state of existence, it is a pleasure for a fairytale world
to engulf an individual. Although for only a brief time of ninety minutes, that ninety minutes is as
refreshing as a relaxing soak in a warm tub of water. A Walk in the Clouds provides the means of
escape by way of a delightful romantic fantasy. At a time when movies seem compelled to be asocial,
when it is more effortless to smirk than to sigh, this film refreshingly takes us to a dream world, if
only for a time.Director Alfonso Arau brings sentiment to a story set in post World War II California.

No sooner do they utter the final planning words than does the sound of shotgun fire sound. Her

does not approve of a Gringo, and believe me, he makes it known throughout the film. That is, until
the end. Every other member of Victoria s family accepts Paul especially the patriarch of the family

Quinn grace the screen.
Throughout A Walk in the Clouds he inserts his elderly wisdom and wit masterfully. One of the most
outstanding lines is when he tells Paul, who grew up in an orphanage, You are an orphan no longer.
Reeves does an excellent job with non verbal communication. The loving gazes between he and
Sanchez Gijon continually reaches an apex just before the kiss. Even after the harvesting of the family

soft light), and at last, a loving kiss, Paul stops before the point of no return. He tells her he is not free,

7. Gregory Orr A Hero s Journey Analysis
A hero s quest is a destined step by step process for many characters in a heroic quest. Campbell s idea
of a hero maintains a sequence pattern of a journey. Campbell briefly explains that an hero s journey
begins with a call to departure, which embarks a new quest. Followed by mentors who aid the hero
into complete his objective or quest. Also there are trials to be endured and the inner dragon to
overcome to transcend to a higher state of being for the hero. After all the obstacles the hero face, he
or she will gain strength to defeat the shadow which portrays as the villain. After the hero defeats the
shadow he or she returns back home or to a new peaceful location. Campbell s heroic journey can be
seen in many movies, stories, and literature, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gregory Orr s heroic quest starts when he is traumatized by guilt from accidentally ending the life of
his little brother. That moment in his life was a traumatizing factor for himself. Gregory Orr whole
journey is based on the effect the accident had on his consciousness and judgement on himself. At this
point he doubts himself as a decent human being and is clouded with guilt from reoccurring thoughts .
I believe Gregory Orr s incident causes a dramatic negative emotion and guilt that makes any possible
comfort seem reasonable for him to gain no matter the cost. Any answer to comfort Orr s quilt would
make Mr.Orr attached and devoted to achieve that comfort which will aid him to severe his guilt and
discard his guilt from himself.. Gregory Orr desires any door that comes across his life to relieve him
of the guilt of his dead brother. Gregory Orr soon comes in contact with a sign that has an image of

these specific martyrs are happy with their actions and sacrifice. One could say that the images he

8. `` All Star Superman `` And `` The Yellow Wallpaper ``
Right from the start of All Star Superman, we are introduced to colorful panels that integrates the use
and symbolism of colors. Throughout written literature, from Red Wheelbarrow to The Yellow
Wallpaper, color has been a consistently used technique to add extra meaning to subjects. The use of
that symbolism in the comic book medium makes sense, since color can be shown instead of
conveyed. To try and establish the colors meaning in All Star Superman, we can look at it s repeated
use and try and determine what the pattern between them is. Take for example the color purple: on
pages 146 147, the funeral is done out in purple; another example is on page 236, Regan is wearing
only purple. Between those two situations, the connection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see more of this same example on pages 92, 96 and 197, as in that they are all green panels that
occur on or near the moonbase. On page 219 221, we are in Superman s lab, which has a green
background very similar to that of Quintum s lab.
This use of green is not limited to backgrounds or outfits either. From pages 48 50, Lois Lane is
preparing to use a kryptonite gun on Superman. The item itself is primarily green and fires green mist,
which also makes sense because kryptonite is green. On page 106, we see Luther fiddling with a
device that is a mobile library. When this device speaks, even its speech bubbles are done out in this
green shade. This scientific symbolism makes sense here too, as these are very scientific machines.
Jumping ahead to the use of another color, we have yellow. Whenever yellow appears in this comic, it
is usually in regard to very powerful, ultimate things. Take for example page 149. On page 149, the
leader of the Superman Squad (who is presumably an older, original superman) gives the modern,
original superman an indestructible flower. The leader and the flower are both a golden yellow, which
gives both of them a feeling that they are powerful and mysterious. On page 40, Superman is making
miniature suns to feed to his sun eater. These suns are a similar shade of golden yellow, and

9. A Brief Overview of Porn and the 20th Century
Porn and technology:
Pornography has, more than any other type of media, been on the bleeding edge of technology.
Pushing new mediums to their limit, usually in the last way they were ever intended to be used (Gross,
2010). We start off the 20th Century with the Half tone printing process being only two decades old.
This was the first process that allowed images to be inexpensively reproduced. Magazines were the
leading pornographic medium, and they were only available by mail. Then, with the advent of film,
the Stag films were first produced in Germany and Latin America. With the arrival of do it yourself
film equipment in the 1940 s anyone could make a film. The problem was it required a lab to make
mass copies, and since porn was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept was later perfected with webcams and credit cards, giving the user full control over a

Accepting Porn: Since the accidental discovery of the first pornography at Pompii in 1592 porn has
had a bad reputation. It is a Victorian word first defined by Webster as Licentious painting or literature
. From its very beginning pornography was outlawed and banned from the public. In the beginning of
the 20th century one could be jailed for even viewing a stag film. This may of hurt the quality of porn
but it the principal of supply and demand stayed intact, and there was always an overwhelming
demand. The way that demand has been supplied has changed drastically throughout the 20th century.
Porn went from socially unacceptable to a social phenomenon. Public opinion, slowly, overturned
government rule. The main reason porn became more acceptable was because masturbation became
more socially acceptable (Paul, 2005). In the early 1900 s we see masturbation as an act someone took
shame in, because it meant that person didn t have anyone to have sex with. In modern times
masturbation is said to be healthy by health care professionals and although it is not spoken of often, it
is accepted. When porn was first discovered by the Victorians within the Roman ruins of Pompii there
was a major fear that the lower educated, working class would do nothing all day but sit at home and

11. Comedy Analysis
During this unit, my understanding of humor in literature evolved from believing that it was simply
comic relief to grasping that humor is an entertaining method of conveying a universal truth through
many different methods. Comedy comes in countless shapes and sizes, which all have different
purposes and appeal to a variety of audiences. However, although the forms of humor are diverse,
Springboard Activity 4.3 expresses that they can be categorized as either low comedy, which is
straightforward and generally easy to follow and understand (1) or high comedy, which can take a bit
of reflection to realize the humorous intent (4). Naturally, high and low comedy have different
purposes in comedic literature. An author might use high comedy to ... Show more content on

Additionally, we studied another form of high comedy, situational irony. To demonstrate, in A Day s
Work , an excerpt from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer , Mark Twain reports that while Tom had to
whitewash on a beautiful day when he would rather be playing, he ended up conning his friends into
doing his work for him while he sat back and enjoyed the so called treasures that they gave to him so
they could do his work, including a dead rat and a string to swing it with (44) and a brass door knob
(44). Despite having a slight understanding of what irony was before this unit, I had never heard of
situational irony before. Situational irony leads readers to believe that the story is going in one
direction, then suddenly revealing a twist that makes it humorous. If I were to have read this excerpt
before learning about situational irony and its aspects, I would have been thoroughly confused.
However, now that I have been introduced to this idea, I can understand and enjoy the often comical
product of situational irony. Even though Tom had been willing to give up some of his treasures at the
beginning, by the end he was rolling in riches without lifting a finger.

12. How Did The Vietnam War Affect People In The 1960s
Among all wars and other military conflicts which USA engaged the Vietnam War differs for its scale,
duration, and changes which it brought to American public in long term both directly and indirectly.
Obviously, in the shadow of 1960s changes, including civil rights movement and emerging counter
culture movement it influenced American society significantly. This work intends to analyze how it
affected people in USA.
Considering the fact that the Vietnam War was going on the period which civil rights movement was
on the rise, African American veterans had faced disproportionately more hardships that their white
counter parts during and the after the war. As research conducted by
Boulton (2007) points out that the G.I. Bill which initially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another main reason was that bill did not differentiate at all about the kind of service that veterans had
had. Regardless of serving real combat zone or peacetime condition, every veteran got the same
benefits. So, the bill could not fulfill Acfrican
American veterans needs completely as it was intended by the government.
The favorability of the Vietnam War was extremely controversial when it was happening. Bergan
(2009) conducted a work for discovering cause and effect relationship between self interest and
support for the war. The research argues that one s self interest had significant influence on likelihood
of his favorability of war. The work describes that draft status started to be determined as televised
lottery. While controversial as a method of induction, the randomized lottery is convenient for the
estimation of the likelihood of induction having an effect on attitudes toward the Vietnam War, as birth
date is related to likelihood of service but is unlikely to be related to predispositions to support the war
.

13. The Role Of Water Security In The Jordan River Basin
Abstract
The scarcity, depletion and polluting of water in one of the world s driest regions, is a problem that has
perplexed the nations of the Middle East for decades. The riparian states of the Jordan River Basin
include Israel, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. These states are in a constant struggle over securing water
rights for their respective states. The conflict over water is also overshadowed by the Arab Israeli
issues and the subsequent territorial questions. While territory is often at the forefront of the issues,
securing water has also become a contributing factor in the conflicts of the past, and will continue in
the future. Choices of conflict or cooperation will have to be made, given the diminishing amounts of
water available. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many countries are also highly dependent on water that originates outside their borders; the water
diversion provided by dams for countries that are downstream exacerbates an already serious problem.
The diversion of river systems is an area of international concern, the nature and extent of such
interdependency is already extensive: 145 countries share over 261 international river basin. As
demand increases, and as indigenous sources of water become fully utilized or exhausted, the only
alternatives are likely to be international (Dolatyar, 2006). Ironically, the very solution of one country
s scarcity, plunges another into water shortage, this is the reason why water security is one of the most
crucial foreign policy considerations of a globally connected economic and political atmosphere.
Water as a source of conflict
When one thinks of turmoil in the Middle East, oil is often the first thought, however, water has begun
to be a problematic area, both internal and international. However, the cause for water scarcity does
not only depend on conditions within its borders (Giordano, Giordano Wolf , 2004). Israel s water

The article They Say I Say written by Graff and Birkenstein discusses several ways to not only write
academically but express thoughts in an academic manner. The first aspect talked about is how to
write about what others are saying. This helps clarify what exactly the author is talking about. After
you have stated what they say , you can state your own argument and tell what you agree with. Graff
and Birkenstein also state that stating your own opinion as quickly as possible is also important; this
gives the reader an understanding about the motivation of your argument is. In contrast to this article,

During 1500 1775, there were three different processes being brought into the world. This is what
Robert Marks discusses in chapter 3. One that he mentioned was one that I really liked analyzing.
Most parts of the world were drawn into regular, ongoing contact in ways that had never happened in
the past. (Page 67). Robert Marks was talking about how Christopher Columbus s voyage has made
separate worlds united together as one. This is when the New World was created. Relationships began
to form around the world and these relationships grew stronger due to the exchanges of ideas, foods,
people, and even germs. This gave the sixteenth century the name first generalization . In the

In order to solve that question, let s follow me and Time travel to 55 millions years ago! There was an
animal the size of a small dog called Hyracotherium.Everyone would like it to be a pet. It s the oldest
found horse ancestor, They were scampering through the forests full of plants rich in foliage that
covered North America. For more than their history they lived in there, and horses remained small,
forest browsers. Their toes, four at the front and three at the back, sprawled out at different angles
which helped them from sinking in the marshy ground.
Until one day the changing climate Conditions allowed grasslands to expand, foliage plants
disappeared. And about 20 million years ago, many new species rapidly evolved. Some but not all of
the hyracotherium become bigger and stronger. And only those who become bigger and stronger can

Over a 114 year period between 1901 and 2015, the New York Yankees baseball organization has
taken sole positioning as the most successful franchise in the professional baseball world. As a whole
the franchise has won: 43 American League pennants and 27 world championship titles. With statistics
and accomplishments this vast, it is no wonders the Yankees are renowned and acknowledged as one
of the most outstanding baseball teams in the sport. The New York Yankee s franchise was founded in
1901, in Baltimore, Maryland. The franchise played its inaugural season two year later on January 9,
1903. The founders of this historic franchise organization were two gentlemen by the names of Frank
Farrell and Bill Devery. This franchise has dominated the sport of Major League Baseball over a
century, recording 20 seasons with at least 100 wins Hiergesell. When the franchise was moved to
Manhattan from Baltimore they received the name Highlanders and were relocated to their new home
field known as Hilltop Park Yankees Timeline. The 1923 squad would always be the most memorable
team because they defeated the New York Giants to earn the first of a total of 27 World Series
championships (the all time record in professional baseball). The New York Yankees (1936 1939 and
1949 1953) and the Oakland A s (1972 1974), are the only two franchises in all of baseball to win the

Software development methodologies A software development methodology in software engineering
is a framework that is used to structure, plan, and control the process of developing an information
system. A wide variety of such frameworks have evolved over the years, each with its own recognized
strengths and weaknesses. One software developing methodology will not suit all projects
requirements, and best suited should be chosen based on various technical, organizational, project and
team considerations. Most methodologies share some combination of the following stages of software
development: Analyzing the problem Market research Gathering requirements for the proposed
business solution Plan and design the software based solution Implementation (coding) of the software
Testing the software Deployment Maintenance and bug fixing. The goal of this section is to conduct
overview of the most widely used software development methodologies. Waterfall methodology The
traditional approach to software development can be illustrated through the waterfall model which is
time tested and easy to understand. The waterfall model approaches software development in
sequential manner, completing one activity before the other. It brakes up project in stages: requirement

The rhythm section consists of the piano by Paul Mertz, drums by Tommy Gargano, and banjo by
Howdy Quicksell. Throughout the piece, the cornet, which is accompanied by the clarinet, plays the
main tune as the trombone and piano keep the tempo like a bass. The piano plays the chords as the
trombone plays consistent quarter notes which helps the whole ensemble keep time. The Davenport
Blues introduction begins sounding somewhat homophonic. It sounded homophonic because the
cornet and clarinet begin by playing the same melody but at different pitches. The melody in the intro
sounds a little broken up and unorganized. But then we begin to hear the verses becoming somewhat
reminiscent of the New Orleans style, which is known for its collective improvisation and polyphony.
Polyphony is clearly heard in the three different melodies played simultaneously by the cornet,
clarinet, and trombone in the Davenport Blues verses. The instruments in the Davenport Blues
generally have the same interactions that a New Orleans ensemble would have. The cornet, for
instance, plays the melody while the clarinet plays a countermelody drawn from the underlying chord
progression. The trombone fills out the ensemble with another countermelody, but plays fewer notes
than the clarinet. Finally, the rhythm section provides a steady pulse and lays down the harmonies for
each measure. The instrumentation is also typical of a New

Culture and ethnicity can have a deciding effect on the child rearing techniques that families

acceptance of responsibilities and transmission of religious instruction will vary among families. The
paper includes interviews from three families from different backgrounds about child rearing
practices. Culture is the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or

22. Symbolism In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
The most prevalent symbol, both physically and figuratively in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is the
symbol in the title itself the scarlet letter. It is worn by the novel s protagonist, Hester Prynne, and was
placed there by those in her Puritan community after her extra marital affair resulting in her pregnancy
and subsequent offspring. The letter serves to display that she is an adulterer; symbolised by the letter
A. This is evidenced by a townsman s remark Yonder woman, Sir, you must know, was the wife of a
certain learned man...he sent his wife before him...in some two years, or less, that the woman has been

As a narrative comment he states On the other hand, a penalty which in our days would infer a degree
of mocking infamy and ridicule, might then be invested with almost as stern a dignity as the
punishment of death itself. Puritans moving to North America sought to cleanse the culture of what
they regarded as sinful practices. It was their belief that the government should strictly enforce
morality by publicly barring acts such as gambling, corruption, non modest dress and adultery. In
some Puritan colonies, adultery was condemned through far worse punishments than the displaying of
an A . It was usually met with fines, floggings and was even made a capital crime by the
Massachusetts Bay General Court in 1631. Hawthorne draws a comparison between the harsh
punishment that was placed upon Hester, and its seemingly absurd nature when observed in the time
when he was writing The Scarlet Letter, in the 19th century. His disdain for Puritan punishment
through symbolic medium may also be linked to Hawthorne s ancestry. His great great grandfather,
John Hathorne, was a judge in the infamous Salem Witch Trials, in the Massachusetts Bay colony,
where harsh Puritan punishment was exercised against the innocent. Nathaniel Hawthorne added the
w to his surname sometime after learning this in an effort to distance himself from his ancestor. This
provides an explanation to why Hawthorne s symbolic presentations of Puritan sin is so critical, to
further condemn his Puritan ancestors for their

23. Characteristics Of Phinenys In A Separate Peace
What characteristics do leaders embody? Leaders are considered to be strong and caring with no
attention of being paid to their downfalls. In A Separate Peace, Phineas is a leader with flaws, despite
his high standing amongst others. John Knowles characterizes Phineas as a naive and daring static
character in his novel A Separate Peace by employing dialogue, action, and Gene s descriptions and
feelings towards him.
John Knowles implies Phineas is naive through the implementation of dialogue. Phineas confesses to
Gene that [he] hope[s] [Gene is] having a pretty good time here... you can t come by yourself, and at
this teenage period in life the proper person is your best pal (48). The boys live in a masculine society,
which places an emphasis on strength. To expose one s feelings to someone else is considered social
suicide. Therefore, Gene takes advantage of Phineas naiveté by not responding to his declaration of
friendship. Phineas also asserts that when you really love something, then it loves you back, in
whatever way it has to love (111). Phineas philosophy centers around a world of youth of peace; he
always attempts to find the best in everyone. This naive attitude contrasts with the cruel nature of the
world, where wars and competitions are common occurrences. At Gene s trial for Phineas fall, Phineas
asks Gene if [he] was down at the bottom (170) in a concerned, friendly tone. Phineas fears of Gene s
betrayal; he cannot believe that his friend would have the urge to push him out the tree. In order to
protect his high opinion of Gene, he alters the past in his mind to avoid facing the truth. This
emphasizes his naiveté as the true events do not align with what Phineas made up in his mind. At the
hospital after Phineas s second fall, following the trial, Gene explains to Phineas that he would get
things so scrambled up nobody would know who to fight any more and that [he would] make a mess,
a terrible mess...out of the war (191). Phineas world does not hold any fights or enmity. His good
character is unrealistic in this world. Consequently, the war would drive him to madness.
John Knowles characterizes Phineas as daring through his actions. Phineas wears a pink shirt as an

24. The Evolution of Islamic Finance and Financial Institutions
The evolution of Islamic finance now takes place in most of the countries, whether in Muslim
countries or non Muslim countries. Islamic finance institutions perform the same essential functions as
financial institutions do in the conventional system, except that there is a need for them to carry out
their transactions in accordance with the rules and principles of Islam. One of the most growing parts
of the Islamic finance is Islamic equity market. In principle, Islamic equity market is characterized by
the absence of interest based transactions, doubtful transactions and unlawful stocks of companies
which deal in non shariah compliance activities or items. Its market activities must be free from any of
unethical or immoral elements.
The emergence of several Islamic indices such as the Dow Jones Islamic index has offered better
screening processes to both Muslim and non Muslims investors. The existence of the shariah
screening process in the stock market will enable Muslim investors to invest into companies that run
the permissible activities in the businesses. The Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (DJIM), launched in
1999 in Bahrain, was first benchmark to represent Islamic compliant portfolios and for investors
seeking investments in compliance with Muslim Shariah law. The DJIM in essence is a specialized
ethical index that screens out prohibited stocks, as defined by Shariah law, and it is monitored by
Muslim scholars. Malaysia is recognized as one of the dynamic

the plays we read in class. Although it was apparent that these plays were different, but however,

While reading Oedipus Rex my first initial reaction was wow this play is strange, but however, when I
started reading the other plays like Hamlet and Long Day s Journey into Night it started becoming
more normal that most of the plot seemed to be twisted. In Oedipus Rex it was unusual that someone
would get put up for adoption then eventually kill their real dad, and then get married to their real
mom and have kids with them. This twisted plot made readers more interested in what was going to
happen next. Moreover, in Hamlet during the plot was becoming twisted when Hamlet started seeing
his father as a ghost, and when his mother marries Claudius so quickly, then when Hamlet made out
with his own mother. Although the twisted plot is sometimes hard to follow it makes the reader
inquisitive what is going on in the play. In Long Day s Journey Into Night, the strange family
addiction to drugs and alcohol consumption makes the reader on edge on what is going to happen next
to the family. Reading these stories make sense as a group because they all have that twisted plot by
authors incorporating these twisted plots it makes the read more interesting rather than boring.
Learning about twisted plots can help students become more unique writers so they take risks outside

Upon the loss of the coat his coworkers once again forget about him. Gogol reveals the ways in which

Currently there are already a few alternatives to cars available to a large amount of people, the most
prevalent of these being public transport systems which count towards about 16% of commuters as
their usual method of transport in the UK[6]. In the future we will probably see more alternatives such
as driver less cars, notably one being developed by google, and some even speculate as to more
science fiction like modes of transportation e.g. According to Shaw, in the future everyone will use
telekinetically controlled hover boards [1]. The question is somewhat speculative at best as there are
too many factors currently involved as to the requirement of cars both now and in the future.
One of the most compelling arguments against needing to know how to drive is the driver less car
which have had reasonable success under the development of Google, which by 2012 completed more
than 300,000 miles of testing. [...] and there hasn t been a single accident under computer control. [2].

previously unable to drive, such as those who are blind or otherwise disabled, means to more
independently get around. A good example of how a driver less car would be was seen in the film
adaptation of Isaac Asimov s I, Robot, in which all cars where computer driven but also gave the

Hard to duplicate: Marriott was able to identify its needs, for instance what is the best way to reward a

become successful.
Unique: Marriott implemented the right approach to market its position. For example using the data
generated from its reward program and surveys, it modified the experience for every user based on
his/her hobbies, rewards points and other data source [17].
Adaptable to many situations: Thomas H. Davenport Harris, 2007 states that organizations should be
able to integrate analytics capability, brand management, call centre across their internal and external
operations. For example Marriot uses a formalized approach to manage sales, call centre, revenue
management, marketing department and IT operations under one single unit known as Brand Sales

Better than many competitors: While Marriott is moving their core IT systems to the cloud is because
they want to deal effectively with customers across the globe regardless of the time zones and the
geographies [17].A typical example is Marriott moving its point of sale to the oracle cloud. Based on
this success of moving its POS to cloud, they are planning on moving its property management system

Cloning Dolly, the sheep in 1996 was a momentous moment in scientific history. Scientists removed
the nucleus from one of Dolly s skin cells and engineered an egg to be insert with then nucleus. This
egg could have fertilized in a mothers uterus. Following this discovery, mice, pigs and cattle have
been cloned based on the same concept. In 2012, a group of scientists took cloning a step further and
cloned human embryos. With great certainty, human cloning will be banned by the government due to
human rights. The government has already deemed it illegal to fund human cloning projects. Despite
the human rights issue, cloning serves a great role in research. These cloned embryos will help
understand the biological nature of human cells and the human body. Also the embryos will help
advance medical treatments for a wide variety of diseases. Cloning is vital to genetic engineering.
Problems do arise from such an advancement. Exploration of women would be a major issue due to
the fact that these cloned embryos need to be implanted into a women s uterus in order to under go

The Role of the EGF Receptor LET 23 on Lipid Biosynthesis in Caenorhabditis elegans
N. R. Contos
Thesis Abstract
The Caenorhabditis elegans LET 23, which is an Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) receptor, controls
multiple developmental pathways. In humans, EGF receptor mutations are implicated in a large
number of cancers due to excess signaling promoting cell growth and cell division. Recent work has
shown that in C. elegans LET 23 may also affect lipid production, specifically that of the phospholipid
phosphatidylcholine. To investigate the role of the LET 23 receptor on lipid production, I have
examined the cellular location of a fluorescent tagged SBP 1 marker under different conditions within
the worm and from these inferred levels of lipid production. I will discuss my results and their impact
on our understanding of EGF signaling and lipid biosynthesis.
Thesis Intro: As a whole the world is becoming more aware of how fats affect the body. Not only are
lipids a key element in cell membranes, they also lead to many issues regarding health. Obesity is an
ever increasing risk factor for many diseases including type II diabetes, cardiac disease, and some
forms of cancer (Kopelman 2000). As obesity transitions from little known problem into a full blown

Abstract This article is a short overview of the Eclectic theory or ideology of teaching English. A

many fields of study to this day.. While many old school linguists see it as un principled and vague
without any structure, is does have strong concepts and principles about language acquisition and

Then there are standards of achievement which make it inconceivable that any single method could
achieve optimum success in all learning environments. Alan Maley (1983) said: Teachers need to offer
a variety of activities, techniques, and tasks in teaching to give equal opportunities to students with
different styles of learning so all students progress. Girard, (1972) said: Rather than fish in one
linguistic stream, we should cast our pedagogical net in all waters that might bring us in a profitable
catch (Dillon, J. M., and A. A. Long, 2004). It is a whole integrated approach, for example, a listening
activity with coordinated speaking or singing and supplementary features like pronunciation and form
of the language. In this regard Canale and Swain rightly said about the four dimensions of
communicative competence, grammar competence, sociolinguistic competence, discourse
competence, and strategic competence (Richard, 1986, p.71). It is hard to sum up Eclectic theory in a
few sentences. It is not a scientific drill or methodology nor it a teaching tool or a learning method for
the learners. The causes for change in language teaching, and in new language teaching methods, lie,
in this view, in the main with social, political or philosophical factors (Pennycook, A.1989). Critical
pedagogy is, wary of progressivism concepts characteristic in second language teaching. With the
inception of applied linguistics, along with the concept of a scientific kind of language teaching
philosophies changed. This was seen prominently in the audio lingual methodology. Proponents of the

35. Defensive Localism
The resist of white through the civil rights movement can be seen through defensive localism,
southern strategy and the war on drugs. Since the late 19th century white American have been fighting
to keep control over black Americans. White supremacy can be defined as the belief that white people
are superior to other races. Defensive localism is the connection between the racialization and
monetization of space. An all white neighborhood had a higher property value than an all black one.
White homeowner felt that having a black family in their neighborhood would lower the property
value. Southern strategy was the republican party way to gain political support in the south by
appealing to racism against blacks. A great example of someone who

36. Prozac Nation Character Analysis
Film Analysis Abnormal Psychology Prozac Nation (2001)
1) How does Lizzie (Christina Ricci) describe her depression?
Lizzie describes her depression in various ways to herself and others. She says that she felt as if she
was, drowned by some kind of black wave. This wave overpowered her. Also, she talked about how
she was always exhausted when she woke up, because her mind was running wild all night; she had
clear sleep deprivation. She shows the depression symptom of suicidal thoughts when she says, I m in
more trouble than I m worth. With this, we can apply that she does not feel as though she is worth
anything in this life at this moment. Continuing, she describes her depression more so as I m falling
and I m dead [inside]. We can truly see the sadness that is inside her.
2) How do Lizzie s friends and family react to her depression?
Lizzie s friends and family reacted in various ways to her depression. The most common trend that
seemed to happen was that everyone wanted to help her, but they did not know how. One instant that
her friends helped her was when they brought her to therapy. But her friends abandoned her
throughout the movie, because they were worried and got upset with her behavior. Her mom was very
worried about her and cried a lot. However, her Mom did tell her that she didn t have to change herself
at all. All in all, the reactions ranged from isolation to supportive.
3) Which personality disorder would you diagnose Lizzie with and why?

Two years ago, I went to Puerto Rico and I absolutely loved it! Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island and a
U.S territory. It is east from the Dominical republic. The capital is called San Juan with 77 other cities!
Puerto Rico has about 3.548 million people living there. Since Puerto Rico is an island the weather
there is one of the most unvarying climates in the world. All year around, the temperature is usually
from 75 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit. In fact, the island is the hottest and wettest around August,
averaging about 81 degrees Fahrenheit. Puerto Rico offers many cultural entertainment, historical
locations and tourist attractions. In Puerto Rico their cultural entertainments are holidays, architecture
and arts crafts. There are many holidays in Puerto Rico a few of them are New Year s day, Three
Kings Day, Christmas and more. According to touertorico.org, the architecture heritages are from the

abilities in Manchu and Chinese as well as his cultivation in traditional classics and poetry all met
with his father s approval, but it was his sincerity in performing filial piety that especially won Kangxi
s praise. Being chosen as Emperor caused his brothers great unhappiness, because of their jealousy
much of Yongzheng s early years on the throne were spent defending his rule through political

Background The Vice Chief of Staff of the Army approved the position for the 882A Mobility Warrant
Officer (MWO) in July 1997. His original vision for the MWO was to embed them in the 10 active
Divisions and the two interim brigade combat teams (IBCTs) at that time. Their initial success in these
roles and increased world deployments led to a demand for these deployment experts at every level of
command. MWOs where soon assigned to the 10 divisions, 2 SBCTs, 8 transportation movement
control battalions (MCB), and 2 transportation groups (Lieutenant Colonel Peter B. Everitt, 2016).
According to a recent report pulled from FMS Web, there are currently 173 authorized MWO
positions in the US Army. (USAFMSA, 2016) These assignments range from the Movement Control
Battalion (MCB) level to the regional and strategic command levels. BCT modularity and increased
deployments over the past 15 years has validated the need for mobility experts at every level of
command. MWOs today typically start their career in Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs). The MWOs ...

44. Causes Of The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The conflict between Jews and Palestinian Arabs is a struggle over land that began around the turn of
the 20th century. Unfortunately, ever since the conflict began, little to no progress has been made in
solving the Israeli Palestinian conflict. There is a tremendous amount of history encompassing the
dispute because it changes dramatically depending on which side is describing their point of view and
when they believe the conflict started. The United States, Great Britain, the United Nations, and many
other countries have attempted to mediate both parties in order to work towards a solution; however,
all of their efforts have been unsuccessful because the Israeli Palestinian conflict is the direct result of
Great Britain s lack of ability to maintain consistent foreign policy in Israel, Palestine, and Egypt.
The fundamental issue in the Israeli Palestinian conflict remains who has rights to the land which
encompasses Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank. Jewish claims to the land are based on the
biblical promise to Abraham and his descendants, on the fact that Palestine was the historical site of
the Jewish kingdom of Israel and on Jews need for a haven from European anti Semitism. On the other
hand, Palestinian Arabs claims to the land are based on continuous residence in the country for
hundreds of years and the fact that they represented the demographic majority. Arabs engage the
biblical argument, and claim since Abraham s son Ishmael is the forefather of

men and we see this with the industrial revolution, in the invention of the steam engine, trains, the
harnessing of the power of coal. We also see many of his point in the social change of the world, the

was predicting something that many people were in desperate need for, a change in the way the world

50. Analysis Of Of Mice And Men
In both of the novels, prejudice, in all its forms, is a key theme throughout; especially in the relation to
the destruction of the innocent. In Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird, the innocent characters (or
mockingbirds ) are generally characters who are misunderstood by the harsh society in 1930s
America. This ranges from a lack of understanding or knowledge about mental illness in the case of
Boo Radley, to pure racism in the case of Tom Robinson. In Of Mice And Men, there is a bigger focus
on sexism, but again the lack of understanding towards people with mental illnesses is repeated, this
time, in the case of Lennie. These themes of prejudice set up both novels from the very beginning and
run throughout until the inevitable destruction of all who are discriminated against.
Both novels open in a natural, almost idealistic environment. To Kill A Mockingbird is begun in the
town of Maycomb, where the citizens are described as being in no hurry, for there was nowhere to go,
nothing to buy, and no money to buy it with. This would have been typical of the time the novel is set
in, as during the great depression there was indeed, no money. The fact that the people are in no hurry
could imply that they have nothing interesting going on, so no reason to hurry in any way, which
could, in turn, become foreshadowing, as though later in the novel they may have a reason to. This
could then represent them as being innocent, as they seem to be naive as to their surroundings and

When Aldous Huxley wrote Brave New World in 1931, nobody imagined that his fairytale story
would someday be a reality. It is almost scary to see how accurate Huxley s far fetched fantasies came
to be. When Huxley wrote about the conformity, drug use and sex and technology of the society, he
was almost pinpoint exact to predicting today s societies. Unfortunately, all of these things haven t
exactly changed our society today for the better. It is amazing to see how accurately Aldous Huxley
was in his predictions to human conformity today. The novel s classes of Alphas, Betas, Gammas,

that it is crucial and important for the well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this world, the family unit does not exist and the concept of having a mother and father is
considered a primitive quality of humans. Technology has subverted the world so much that even God
is replaced by Ford. Constant references throughout the novel are made to Our Ford, referring to
Henry Ford, the embodiment of industrial development. The real world in which we live is not much
different from this that Huxley writes about in the 1930 s. Technological developments have already
allowed us to create embryos outside of the womb. The values that once existed in religion and family
are slowly but surely disappearing. Even today, the vast majority of America and the world have
lessened their beliefs, their worshiping of God and practicing religion. Technology has become the
new religion as it provides the materialistic progress that people desire. Women will soon have the
ability to have children but not carry the children themselves for nine months. What is important
anymore? Because of technology, a family unit merely represents a group of people that has dinner
together every so often. Values in education and good citizenship are no longer taught to children in
such intensity as distractions brought forth by the media and video games only encourage having fun
as opposed to studying and working hard for a future. We are destroying our own world with the
obsessive violence taught and practiced by elementary
